“AAAAAAARRRGGGHHHHHHH” screamed Sophie as she woke up suddenly. She has had a nightmare again, the second time this week. It was the same terrifying dream about a huge ferocious dog that was chasing her, and she couldn’t escape.
What had gone wrong ?

The Dream Weavers Studio in the Little Body Factory normally only delivered nice dreams.
“AAARRGGHHH” came a scream from the Dream Weavers Studio in the Little Body Factory when they heard Sophie scream. The Dream Chief knew that something was going terribly wrong, which is why he had called all the dream workers to a big meeting. “This needs to be put right” he said as Sophie’s tummy rumbled.
RRRhhhggg......
The Dream Chief stood on his big box of second hand dreams, pointing his finger and looking at the dreamers stood around him.
“This is the second time Sophie has had a nightmare about a giant dog that chases her” .
than one nightmare a year to children under six. It must stop and I want you to tell me why it’s happening NOW!!!” yelled the Dream Chief.
The dream workers are worried. Their noses, eyes and ears are all twitching in every direction as they try to work out what has gone wrong with Sophie’s dreams. “We have agreed that we will not deliver more
All the dreamers turned to look at Mr Vamp, who was sat with his fangs jutting out nervously. Mr Vamp had worked at the Dream Weavers Studio ever since Sophie was born, but he wasn’t very popular with the other dreamers.
The other dreamers don’t like Mr Vamp much, because it is always him who makes Sophie’s nightmares. The other dreamers think that is a bit creepy. None of the other dreamers want to sit next to Mr Vamp during tea break and during the annual Dream Of The Year awards no-one wants to dance with him. Mr Vamp has never won the Dream Of The Year award, even though he has been delivering nightmares and other dreams to Sophie for five years. If Mr Vamp is making nasty dreams for Sophie it is because he is nasty himself, say the other dreamers.
“I... It... It isn’t... isn’t me” cried Mr Vamp as all the others stared at him. “I... I... I have only made good sweet dreams for Sophie” he shouted as he stood up and slammed the door to his little office. “Well if it’s not Mr Vamp, then it must be someone else” said the Dream Chief and stared hard at all the workers gathered together. All the dreamers were quiet as they went back to the Dream Studio to find out what had gone wrong, so that Sophie could sleep again. Everything had to be checked !
First they checked all the cameras that film everything Sophie sees during the day. But they are all working normally. There’s nothing wrong with the microphones that record everything Sophie hears every day either.
Very strange... There is nothing wrong either in the Dream Suite, where all the stories for Sophie’s dreams are edited together and made ready with sound and colour.
Everything is as it should be.
The Dream Chief even sends a specialist all the way up to Sophie’s brain to investigate whether something has gone wrong with the dream projector that plays all her dreams while she sleeps. “Everything is working perfectly. There is nothing wrong with the equipment” said the Dream Chief when they all gathered back together in the canteen. “The only answer is that Mr Vamp is deliberately sending those horrible nightmares to Sophie, without permission” , said the Dream Chief in an angry voice as he stomped over to Mr Vamp’s office to tell him to pack his briefcase and never come back to the Dream Weavers Studio again.
“GRRRRRR... ” came a roar from Mr Vamp’s office. Everyone froze at the sound. Maybe Mr Vamp was a dangerous werewolf... The Dream Chief was about to open the door to Mr Vamp’s office when they heard the scary growl, so instead he bent down and peeped through the keyhole. “Ah ha” said the chief as he watched Mr Vamp rolling around on the floor. “He’s changing into a monster” shouted the chief, and he smashed the door down with a terrible crash. “GRRRRRRRRR... ”

“What’s going on here” shouted the Dream Chief as he entered Mr Vamp’s office. All the other dreamers stood on tiptoe behind him hoping to get a glimpse of the monster. Only there was no monster to see. All there was to see was Mr Vamp rolling around on the carpet playing with a sweet little puppy, which was trying to lick his face while he filmed it with his nightmare camera. “Ohhh isn’t it cute” said the Dream Chief while all the other dreamers tried to fuss over the puppy. Mr Vamp isn’t nasty at all they mumbled to each other, as they saw how happy the puppy was. Mr Vamp had bought the puppy last week as he was feeling sad and lonely. “At least now there is someone who loves me” he thought.
Ever since that day he has used his nightmare camera to make cute films of the happy puppy and sent them up to the dream projector in Sophie’s brain, as Sophie loves puppies. But the nightmare camera has a very important button that you must be very careful not to press. If you do press it, everything it films will be 100 times bigger than normal. Unfortunately, Mr Vamp has accidentally pressed that button. Instead of sending Sophie happy cute dreams with a sweet puppy, he has accidentally sent a nightmare with a giant black dog.
“There’s no need to panic anymore” shouted the Dream Chief in a very relieved voice. “The mystery has been solved, now we can have a party!” At the party Mr Vamp showed all the puppy dreams he had filmed, this time without pressing the magnification button. Everyone smiled with delight at the lovely films he had made, and they were shown again and again.
“I bet they win this year’s Dream Awards” .

“The films are fantastic” declared the Dream Chief.

Sophie couldn’t hear the noise from the party, as she had fallen fast asleep and was already dreaming.
“Hmmmmmm...arg...he he he he. ” She giggles as the little puppy in her new dream tickles her nose. The Dream Chief was right. Mr Vamp did win the Best Dream Of The Year award. And he has done so ever since.
