Kidz Theater presents The Enchanted Bookshop
By Todd Wallinger During the day, A Likely Story may look like any other used bookstore. But at night, it’s a place where magic happens. That’s when the characters inside the books come alive. Six of the characters: Dorothy Gale, Robin Hood, Pollyanna, Sherlock Holmes, Heidi and Tom Sawyer long to help Margie, the scatterbrained owner, save her struggling store. But they’re not allowed to leave the building or be seen by human eyes. So when a pair of smugglers comes looking for a stolen necklace hidden inside one of the books, the characters are torn. Should they warn Margie and risk disappearing forever? Or can they find a way to defeat the crooks without being seen? This charming comedy celebrates the joy of reading in a fresh, fun-filled way. Holiday Theater presents Tiny Tim’s Christmas
By Thomas Hischak Here is a delightful continuation of a Christmas classic. Timothy Crachit, formally known as Tiny Tim, has inherited Ebeneezer Scrooge’s moodiness. He manages the local toy shop and has become a regular ’Scrooge.’ As the store’s doors close for Christmas, Tim finds himself in a situation similar to Ebeneezer, but this time Scrooge is the hearty Ghost of Christmas Present who leads Timothy through his past, present and future. Delight in seeing many of the traditional characters from the original Dickens classic and many new characters, too. This show is filled with the spirit of a season to be thankful for what we have. Children’s Theater presents The Hobbit
CREATIVE ARTS
By Edward Mast. Adapted from J.R.R. Tolkien's novel Bilbo Baggins is a comfortably well-off hobbit with a love for rousing adventure stories. Real adventures, however, are definitely not his cup of tea. So when Gandalf the wizard knocks at Bilbo's door, bringing with him Thorin Oakenshield, 11 ragged looking dwarfs, and a contract for an adventure to recover the lost treasure of Lonely Mountain, Bilbo could not be less interested—at first. But Bilbo's love of a good story gets the better of him, and before he knows it, he is off on a perilous quest over mountain and under hill through caves and forest and slimy dark places. When modern teen Mary Fitzfry gets sent back in time by an eccentric professor, she finds herself in the middle of a totally tubular cavalcade of 80s pop culture. There's a lot of familiar faces, from the teens in breakfast-time detention to the guys chasing ghosts and dancing zombies, but the biggest surprise of all is Mary's own protective mom as a teen. Turns out she's actually kind of rad - but thanks to Mary's time travel, she's in trouble. Can Mary make things right? This adventure takes you from the mall where everything happens, to a suburban sitcom street, to a cave under the high school - and you can choose who to feature from a flexible throng of characters to bring your audience maximum nostalgia. COVID-19 Information and Updates
Facility Guidelines
As Tinley Park-Park District prepared this brochure, the unprecedented restrictions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic affected program and event planning.
Face Covering Face covering is not required for individuals who are fully vaccinated. Masks are still required for individuals who are not fully vaccinated. Masks must be worn by any adult who coaches, instructs or otherwise participates in programs, sports or activities with children that under age 12. Face covering must cover the nose and mouth completely. These rules are subject to change.
Decisions are made using the recommendations of the State of Illinois, the Illinois Department of Public Health and the Centers for Disease Control in place at that time. To limit attendance, many special events require advance registration, have multiple sessions and/or staggered start times. Class enrollment limits are reduced to stay within limitations in effect at the writing of this brochure. The Park District will continue to adapt activities and events to adhere to the most current recommendations and guidelines. Providing a safe and healthy environment for all patrons and staff to enjoy our programs and events remains our priority. All changes and updates will be posted to our website and social media channels.
Virtual Programs When possible, a virtual format of classes will be offered. Please look for the symbol above to determine if a virtual option is available. Look for the virtual program icon for classes that are either fully virtual, or will move to virtual if necessary.
Good Hygiene Frequent hand washing requirements include at the beginning and end of programs, and using the available hand sanitizer throughout the facilities. Increased Cleaning and Sanitizing Since the start of the pandemic, Tinley Park-Park District has increased the frequency of cleaning and sanitizing our exercise equipment, facilities, program rooms and event locations. These protocols will remain in effect. Supplies Patrons should bring their own water bottles, towels, exercise mats, etc.
Self-Assessment COVID-19 Symptom Questionnaire The Park District asks for your help in our efforts. Before attending any program or event, please take our SelfAssessment COVID-19 Symptom Questionnaire available on our website.
