We will provide refreshments. We will be respectful of the gravesites, and avoid any areas where cemetery services may be happening during this time. Guides will be available at the Sam Rayburn House after 12:00 p.m., while supplies last, for anyone who
cannot make the program. PLEASE NOTE: In the event of thunderstorms on October 26th, this event will be rescheduled to November 2nd from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Contact the Sam Rayburn House for any scheduling questions.
At the Sam Rayburn House from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. on October 26th, we will have free pinch pot kits for visitors to complete at the site or take home. These kits contain clay that, using water, you can turn into small clay pots or other objects! These kits are free to take or use, but tours of the Sam Rayburn House will occur on the hour and cost regular admission. There are a limited number of kits available. The Sam Rayburn House is located at 890 W State Hwy 56 in Bonham, TX. He noted there was still a shortfall with the current budget and with the projected revenues being short but noted that with each passing month, progress is being made to make up that shortfall. Chief Hughes also commended Lt. Deater with the Fannin County Sherriff’s office who assisted his department with organizing grief counseling after a recent vehicular accident in Dodd City that resulted in five fatalities. The court commended Chief Hughes for a job well done.

16. Discussion regarding Elections Supervisor and Elections Administrator positions – County Auditor: Ms. Whipple led a lengthy discussion regarding confusion about a discussion that took place June 11th regarding the possibility of appointing an Elections Administrator after the resignation of former County Clerk Tammy Biggar was submitted to the court in May. At that time, many parties weighed in on what future action might be best regarding the supervision of future elections in Fannin County. FC Republican Chairperson Melanie Grammar weighed in on today’s discussion expressing her concerns over a matter she believed was a “discussion item only” at the time that would not be addressed until after the new year. After Judge Cunningham noted that Ms. Whipple had placed this on the agenda for clarification only and after he confirmed that a position of “Elections Administrator” had not been created as there would have needed to be a vote for that to have occurred, he confirmed that there is currently no “Elections Administrator” position at this time, and there is nothing that needs to be addressed immediately.
DISCUSSION, CONSIDERATION AND ACTION ITEMS:
17. Authorize County Auditor to move Forfeiture funds from 560-103-1560 in the amount of $5,590.00 to 100-560-1040, Salaries Deputies, to pay a qualified deputy certification pay who was hired too late to receive the pay in this year’s budget – Sheriff Johnson: Fannin County Sheriff Mark Johnson explained his request to use the funds from this account to supplement the pay of a deputy who was hired recently and whose certifications/experience, warrants a higher salary base. Noting his hiring missed the timeframe by about two weeks of having the appropriate pay amount eligibility falling under the budget, he reasoned monies from the forfeiture account could be used if the court approved. After some discussion where it was noted the recently elected incoming Sheriff Cody Shook is concerned about monies going out of that account that may be needed elsewhere, no action was taken.
18. Authorize County Auditor to move Forfeiture funds from 560-103-1560 in the amount of $1,000.00 to 560-560-4900, Miscellaneous, to purchase candy to hand out at Halloween –Sheriff Johnson: After some discussion, a motion to deny was made by Commissioner McQueen which was seconded by Commissioner Magness and passed.
19. Approve the Office of the Attorney General Maintenance Grant Contract through August 31, 2025 with regard to the Statewide Automated Victim Notification Service program (SAVNS) - County Auditor: Ms. Whipple noted this is a yearly action that has been ongoing for many years. 20. Approve the fifth contract renewal term with Appriss Insights, LLC through August 31, 2025 with regards to the SAVNS program – County Auditor: Attached with agenda item 19. A motion was made by Commissioner McQueen to approve with Commissioner Magness seconding the motion which passed.

Sunday Morning Re-Wind “Jesus Is the Light”
Hello everyone!
This week’s message comes from Luke 11:33-36. In this passage, Jesus uses the concept of light and darkness. The term “light” is commonly used in the Bible to represent truth, godliness, knowledge, and so on. The Lord intends to show us, whether we believe or not, that we have all the light, or more than enough truth, that we need to understand who He is. The light is the truth that Jesus is the one true Messiah. He has proven this by His miracles. The Pharisees and the scribes, however, chose to hide the light, and the truth that Jesus is the Messiah, from the Jewish people, making false claims and saying that they need more proof. They did not share the truth. Jesus
teaches us that those who know the light will not hide it, but reveal it. If we reject the light, it is because we are filled with darkness, with a negative perception of the truth. We are called to share the light, and the truth, with others by spreading the gospel wherever, whenever, and however we can. As I have said before, not everyone may be receptive to it, but if just one person comes to know the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ, then our efforts will not be in vain, or go unnoticed in His sight. In 1875, Philip P. Bliss wrote a classic hymn that fits perfectly with the message in this passage.
“The whole world was lost in the darkness of sin, The Light of the world is
Jesus!
Like sunshine at noonday, His glory shone in; The Light of the world is Jesus!
Come to the light, ’tis shining for thee; Sweetly the light has dawned upon me; Once I was blind, but now I can see: The Light of the world is Jesus!”
If you are looking for a good church home, we invite you to come visit us, and be a part of our church family and worship at Central Baptist Church. Visitors are our honored guests, and we hope to see you this coming Sunday!

What Does Grace Involve?
By Mike Dickison Minister for
the Ivanhoe Church of Christ
We find in God’s word, that “all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23). Isaiah helps us understand the principle of our sin affects our relationship with God, by writing, “your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear” (Isaiah 59:2). We need God’s grace, that is, His ‘goodwill, loving kindness, and favor.’ However, we have good news, “for by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast” (Ephesians 2:8-9).
Grace involves the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. “We see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man” (Hebrews 2:9). Paul reminds us that Christians are “justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus” (Romans 3:24). Grace involves the word of God, the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Paul lived his life to “testify the gospel of the grace of God” (Acts 20:24). We find God’s grace in the gospel of Jesus Christ; Paul declared “the gospel which

I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; by which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you” (1 Corinthians 15:1-2).
Grace involves faith. “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God” (Ephesians 2:8). We must have faith for salvation. We find that “without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him” (Hebrews 11:6). We must believe in “the Lord Jesus” and that “God hath raised him from the dead” for salvation (Romans 10:9).
Saving Grace involves obedience. Titus received this message from Paul; “For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world,” and that Jesus Christ, “who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works” (Titus 2:11-14).
Remember the words of the Lord concerning salvation; “Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven” (Matthew 7:21)

involved ignoring citations to remedy the situation. Included in the discourse about how best to proceed was a statement made by Attorney Andy Garner who cited the passage of law that authorizes enforcement of the county ordinance for salvage/junkyards. The discussion ended after comments made by Bonham resident Attorney Joe Moss who noted the “solution to the problem is real simple” he then outlined the ‘warrant for arrest’ process that needs to happen before an offender is brought before the court. It was noted the court did not need to make a motion, only to get to work.
27. Approve final plat from the City of Bonham for the Multipurpose Center Addition on FM 87 in Bonham; Property ID# 72329 – County Judge: Judge Cunningham noted the City would be maintaining the property, operating it and how it would be being used for the same things it has always been used for. A motion was made by Commissioner Magness to approve with Commissioner McQueen seconding the motion which passed.

The decision to enter into Executive Session to discuss the bids was made and the motion was made and passed to enter into Executive Session at 10:42 a.m. Regular Session resumed at 11:09 a.m. after which a motion was made by Commissioner Magness to approve the contract. After much discussion which included comments by Ravenna resident Jason Walker to question the specificities of the contract and the legalities the county is bound to, Judge Cunningham noted the need to have attorneys for the county to have a look at the contract. Bois d’Arc: stained; 85 degrees; 2.71 feet below pool. The morning bass bite is fair around grass or pond weed with ribbets and horny toads over grass. Carolina rigs good on offshore brush piles and points 10-14 feet. Texas rigs and flukes are good on tree lines and the edges of small creek channels in 6-8 feet. Crappie fishing is hot with fish on timber, brush or any structure you can find in 8-25 feet of water. Focus on the outside edges of timber lines and open water main lake timber under the surface. These fish have not been pressured, so any bait you want to present to them will work. Tons of fish around 12 inches can be put in the boat and quickly. This is definitely a lake to hit up if you are looking for a mess of crappie.
Cooper GOOD. Water stained; 83 degrees: 2.00 feet below pool. Fish are starting to move to winter patterns so target the river channels. Be cautious of lake turnover as the water begins to cool. This will slow the bite for about two weeks until the water stabilizes. Hybrids are great off main lake humps and points with live shad, you can catch them vertically jigging spoons. Crappie are slow but can be caught in 3-10 feet of water on the bottom of timber with a crawdad jig. Catfish are good on the edges of the river channel in 15-20 feet of water.
Report by River Bottom Boys Guide Service. Tawakoni GOOD. Water lightly stained; 82 degrees; 1.72 feet below pool. Lake Tawakoni continues to fish well as water temperatures continue to drop. The hybrid striper and white bass bite is good as fish become more active. Seems like fish are preferring slabs and in-line spinners over swimbaits. Best depth has been 3-15 feet. The trophy catfish bite is decent with big fish feeding. Drifting with medium sized cut bait in 2-22 feet has been the ticket. Texoma GOOD. Water stained; 75 degrees; 1.74 feet below pool. Striper fishing is excellent on live shad. Look at ledges and flats in 25-40 feet of water for schools of fish roaming. A fluorocarbon leader is a must, and downsize with the clearer water. Start watching for fog in the backs of coves and topwaters along those banks for bigger fish. Crappie are still slower, with fish remaining inactive due to the warmer temps. Focus on brush and structure near coves and main lake points in 12-20 feet of water. Bass are fair on shallow-water crankbaits and A-rigs along the bluffs early, and near docks late.

Home Country: Slim Randles
When the world is hot and my skin is fried, scratching from the constant dry, let the clouds boil up – boil up high. And then shade the earth with the darkening sky and bring the secrets and the smell of rain. The heat and the blessed rain, again. Our land is brown but blessed, stressed in the heat, the shiny heat of day. The slender green of desert rivers slides along, striving to continue, to feed its own along the banks – the banks where the dust rises. Rises, powdery clomp by clomp as we walk – walk the shady way.
Ours is the blessing of challenge, to live, to thrive in the heat. But bring us the clouds, the black bellied clouds, the clouds that softly hold the heads of gods in their moistening grasp. Let them come, with their silver tops and their bellies black as night and cool as forgiveness. The summer clouds, the clouds that define our culture, our art, our summer, our hot, heavy summer. Let the magic come and stay, stay for a while, at least for a while, and wet us down, all the way down. Fill our pores, smooth our skin, wash us free of dirt and sin, with the rain, the cleansing blessed rain. A rain, a storm, a suddenness of life and blast and sweet charity designed to keep us living here, here in the rain, here in the sun, and keep us praying, here in the rain, and looking toward the west for more, always to the west, always looking for more. Brought to you by Slim’s latest book, Whimsy Castle, now available at Amazon.com and Barnes and Noble and your local bookstore.
