Native to Bonham, Wayne Moore spent most of his adult life in Arlington, Texas. However, after 15 years with the Arlington Fire Department and an additional 10 years administering Federal programs in the Community Development program, Mr. Moore retired and moved back to Bonham with his wife, Brenda, in 1991. It was then that they purchased and restored 8 old homes, operating one of them as a bed & breakfast for 9 years. Moore served as mayor protem on the Bonham City Council from 2000-2012 before taking a 5-year break to provide elder care for his aging mother-in-law and now serves in the at-large position on the Council since 2017. He has also served on the board of the Bonham Housing Finance Corporation, Bonham Economic Development Corporation, Texoma Area Paratransit System (TAPS), Texoma Council of Governments, Bonham Housing Authority, and the Bonham Area Chamber of Commerce. While he certainly stays busy with his volunteer activities, Moore and his wife currently own and operate The Breakfast Stop, a restaurant in downtown Bonham. They have two daughters and four amazing grandchildren.

desperately need to hear. Such is a little book entitled “Jesus Only” written by Dr. Vance Havner. As I read some of it recently the thought for this week “Missing Notes in Today’s Culture” was born. This week’s article may not include deep theological tones but it is designed to touch our personal lives at two points: personal respect and Godly reverence. As I look at present day culture it reflects a need for the revival of both. When I read of God’s giving of the Ten Commandments, I see in them His concern for both human respect and Godly reverence. Two Books, Exodus and Deuteronomy give us this recording of God’s “Rules for Living.” for District Clerk. No changes to budget; further discussion will be needed per Judge Moore. 11. Discussion regarding a landfill need in Fannin County – Commissioner Precinct 3 for County Resident. Scott Dobbs, a Fannin County resident, stated that even though Fannin County does have resources from other landfills in the outlying areas, he felt that there was a need for a landfill in the Fannin County area due to the problem of un-
It may seem surprising to find that several of the commandments address our need for respect to be practiced in relationship to other people. We are to honor our parents. Murder is forbidden. Stealing is wrong to our fellow man. We are to be honest in our dealings with others. Bearing false witness (Lying) is a lack of respect. Violating sexual purity is an absence of respect. Let us remember that mankind is made in God’s image. So in reality, when we violate the rules of respecting others, we are being irreverent to God as well. Life seems to have been cheapened in today’s world. The demands for Godly reverence is the recognition of His Holiness, His lawful dumping of trash on roadways, creeks and ditches. Mr. Dobbs stated that he had not completed his research for a landfill, but he found there are grants available to help offset the cost of a landfill and also the State has funds for setting up special trash collection days.

My peace officer license had become inactive on 9-1-15 so I took a 40 hour training class and paid my license fee and my peace officer license was re-activated on 1-416 prior to the primary election that year. I currently hold a Master Peace Office license and have been at that level since 2010. I am also a Sexual Assault/ Family Violence Investigator since 2009. My TCOLE record is available for anyone who would like to see it. I have 2,184 documented training hours and 26 years of law enforcement experience. I also maintain an excellent credit rating which speaks to my ability to manage finances. On a personal note, I am the proud father to my daughter, Jessica Bellows. She is a Registered Nurse and working on her Master’s degree. I am very proud of my son in law, Travis, and have known him since he was a kid and he reminds me that I did write him a ticket once. I am a proud PaPaw to

I am proud to announce my tion. I packed up my daughter and intention to run for Re-Election 10/4/16 in the March 3, 2020 Repub- we moved to Fannin County lican primary. I have proudly in 1992 where I accepted a job served the citizens of Fannin with the Honey Grove Police County as your Sheriff since Department as a patrol officer. January 1, 2017. I am proud of Within 6 months, I was prothe accomplishments my office moted to Patrol Sergeant. I achas made to move law enforce- cepted the position of Chief of ment in Fannin County forward Police for the City of Savoy in to meet the growth and chang- 1993 and remained in that position until 2001. I met the true ing dynamics in our county. I grew up in Sulphur Springs, love of my life in 2001 and we Texas as the youngest of 8 kids. were married 4 months later. I We were a very poor family resigned from the city and foand I saw things that no child cused on my two businesses should have to see. I saw my full time. I had a car wash and father abuse my mother many a paint and body shop. The times- physically, verbally and economy declined that year afmentally. He placed alcohol, ter 9/11 and I ended up selling gambling and womanizing my businesses and returned to above his family. I made the law enforcement in 2013. My wife and I moved to decision at a very young age to become a police officer and Honey Grove in 2003 when I I never questioned my decision accepted the Chief of Police or considered any other career position. We were an active part of that community for 10 option. I became a father at the age years. I developed a commuof 21 and found myself as a nity oriented police department single parent of a 13 month old and lived in the middle of the daughter in 1984. From that town I served. We moved to our farm outday forward, my reason for living was my child. I couldn’t let side Whitewright in 2013 and her down. I couldn’t allow her I decided to leave law enforcement. God had other plans for to grow up the way I did. I started my law enforcement me. I suffered a massive heart career as a dispatcher in 1981 attack in 2015 and I came close and moved to a jailer position in 1983. I became a jail administrator in 1988. I was finally able to attend the police academy and graduated in 1989. I became a Deputy Sheriff for the Rains County Sheriff’s Office. During my time there, I worked a lot of drug interdiction and was offered a position on a multi county drug task force. I prayed about it and made the decision that I couldn’t work the hours needed and take the increased risk of leaving my daughter without a father so I declined the posi-
my 3 grandchildren – Kenzi, Daelyn and Ayden. My wife, Kathy, grew up in Whitewright and is also a Registered Nurse and continues to work full time. In our “spare time” we have a non-profit Senior Dog Sanctuary. We have 34 dogs who will spend the remainder of their life with us as a part of our family. I look forward to serving Fannin County for another 4 years as Sheriff. I have the experience and training needed to be the highest ranking law enforcement officer in the county. I am excited to be able to share with you the accomplishments we have made as well as discuss the challenges we face as we move the office forward. I have some dedicated employees who have the same vision as I do and that is to serve the citizens of Fannin County to the best of our ability and be an agency that although small is not lacking in experience, training or technology. I think you will be surprised with some of the information and statistics that I share in the coming weeks. I respectfully request your vote on March 3, 2020.

Judge Moore stated that Fannin County has a couple of cleanup projects a couple times of year that Commissioner Lackey has at the county barn as well as one in Honey Grove. He also stated that Fannin County has no desire to open a landfill. Judge Moore said he has talked with other people with landfills in their county and they are a nightmare and reduce the value of the properties. Judge Moore also stated that we are proud of our new lake that is coming in and we need to take care of it. Mr. Dobbs said he was committed to completing his project on researching the landfill possi-
bilities and would return. 12. Discussion, Consideration and Action to go out for bid on a 2016 Dynapac CA2500D Rubber Tire Roller 84” Smooth Drum – Commissioner Precinct 2. Courtesy photo Press Release - On Thursday afternoon Bonham Manufacturers and a variety of support agencies and organizations came together at 4R Coatings. LLC’s facility on North Center St for the 13th iteration of the
Bonham Mfgs’ “Roundtable.” Managing Director Kelly Royse joined with Mayor Roy Floyd in welcoming the room full of attendees and outline 4R Coatings highly successful launch as an industrial powder coater servicing the needs of several Bonham-
based facilities on a variety of products, components and “custom opening solutions.” Following a hearty 13 herbs & spices gumbo-like entrée courtesy of Brenda & Wayne Moore’s The Breakfast Stop “roundtable-ers” settled in for remarks by BISD Superintendent Kelly Trompler and Assistant Superintendent Faith-Ann Cheek on the intricacies and complexities of the 2019 State Accountability System and BISD’s carefully crafted district-wide plans to “drill down” and close the gaps in those areas where there are opportunities for additional improvement. Several manufacturers expressed misgivings with regards to the state’s grading system based largely on a single day’s performance of students. Jeff McKito representing the North Texas Municipal Water District (NTMWD) provided an approximately 13-minute update on the significant and sustained progress being achieved on all the assorted projects associated with construction of Bois d’Arc Lake. Mark Kinnaird, Bonham’s Community Development Director followed by coincidentally providing a 13-point outline of the program of work that the city, in partnership with BEDCo have contracted with The Sanchez Group (TSG) to assist staff with implementing the community and economic development goals as set forth
in the Visioning Bonham (VisBon) – 2025 Plan. TSG were represented by Rich Chaffin, Director of Municipal Services There will be a Joint City Council – BEDCo Board Workshop on Monday November 4th at 5:30 to Not Later Than 7PM for a more detail update on the VisBon. The event will be open to the public and will be cofacilitated by Dr. Randy McBroom, Ph.D. and Martin Sanchez, President and CEO of The Sanchez Group. During the wrap-up dialogue there was a strong consensus that the pace of growth may show some modest slowing but – barring unforeseen event – there is no recession in the offing. There are still more openings than qualified applicants across Bonham’s manufactures. Noteworthy from Kip Thrush, Clayton - Bonham by focusing on their team members’ overall workplace experience they have reduced their new hire turn-over rate by twothird when comparing this year to last year! The BEDCo board was represented by Board President Emily Porter and Executive Director of Economic Development Steve Filipowicz, Library Director & City of Bonham Employee of the Month John Hayden also attended Thursday’s 13th Roundtable. Firms represented at this Bonham’s Mfgs’ Roundtable included: 4R Coatings LLC, Clayton-Bonham, McCraw Oil, Tongrun International, Right Pointe, and TransCable. Support agencies present included Workforce Solutions Texoma – Fannin County Workforce Center, TCOG, TMAC, ForeSite Group representing their client NextLink a prospective fiberoptic high speed internet provided very interested in serving customers in Bonham and across Fannin County! This was the final Roundtable for 2019. The next Bonham Manufacturers’ Roundtable is forecasted for some time in late January/early February 2020.

Our Bonham Animal Shelter Adoptable Pet of The Week is Junebug (ID# 2019-509). Junebug is a 7 month old female Black Mouth Cur. She was surrendered by her owner through no fault of her own. She doesn’t have much confidence on a leash, but she is smart enough to be trained. She is spirited, lively, affectionate and playful. Junebug appears to be good with other dogs. She might be a little too jumpy for small children, but that’s just because she craves attention.
Junebug would enjoy a home with lots of playtime and a patient family who can help her through her insecurities. Her adoption fee is $30. If you are interested in adopting Junebug or any other dog or cat, please visit the Bonham Animal Shelter at 500 Industrial St, Bonham, TX 75418, Monday through Saturday, 8:30-4:00 or call 903-640-8245. Dodd City will start the 201920 Texas high school girls basketball season in the rankings where it has ended the last three seasons on the court -- only second to one team in Class 1A.
Postseason picture mostly set for Fannin v’ball teams By Rich Hilliard Most -- and maybe all -- Fannin County teams will make the upcoming volleyball postseason. In 10-3A, Bonham has secured the runner-up postseason berth -- its highest finish in district volleyball in five years. The Lady Warriors will make their second-straight trip to the playoffs -- the first consecutive advances for Bonham since 201014. In the bi-district round, which will occur Nov. 4-5, the Lady Warriors will play either Pilot Point or Callisburg. Additionally, Leonard joined Bells and Blue Ridge in continuing to vie for the last two available postseason berths in 103A through play on Oct. 22. Leonard this fall is seeking its fifth-consecutive and overall volleyball postseason appearance. In 12-2A , Dodd City has secured the top 1A berth and Senior Kloe’ Tallon continues a return for Savoy earlier this volleyball season. Photo by Rich Hilliard

The Lady Hornets, who have reached the last three title games, garnered the No. 2 spot in the 1A pre-season poll by the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches which was released on Oct. 21. Defending-champion Nazareth, which has won the last three titles -- and many more before that -- led the 1A TABC poll which also included No. 4 Moulton, No. 5 Lipan, No. 10 Huckabay, No. 11 Slidell and No. 20 Saltillo amongst its Top 25 teams. It marked the second No. 2 pre-season basketball ranking this month for Dodd City -- the Lady Hornets garnered the same spot in the Texas Girls Coaches Association 1A Top-10 poll on Oct. 14, again only trailing Nazareth. Last March, Dodd City ended the 2018-19 season again in San Antonio with a 35-4 overall record -- part of a 182-18 effort since Alex Stephenson became the head girls basketball coach of the Lady Hornets on Dec. 31, 2013. Dodd City, which graduated two off its final roster, qualified for its ninth-straight girls basketball postseason via a seventh-consecutive undefeated district title. In the 2A girls rankings, Martin’s Mill, which has won the last two state titles in the classification, led the TABC poll, followed by No. 6 Era, No. 11 Muenster, No. 15 Collinsville, No. 21 Celeste, No. 23 Valley View and No. 25 Union Grove. District 12-2A
Savoy has garnered the No. 2 again from the district to the 1A playoffs. Each will have a bidistrict bye since 11-2A also has only two 1A teams. The Lady Hornets, who have 25 made postseason trips in the last 30 years, also looked likely to repeat as the 12-2A champion. Meanwhile, Trenton will advance as either the No. 2 or 3 seed to the 2A playoffs from 122A. The bi-district opponent for the Lady Tigers remained to be determined, as of Oct. 22. It equates the fifth-consecutive postseason for Savoy and Trenton. With four 2A and three 1A teams advancing per 2A district to their respective classification postseason brackets, Dodd City, Savoy and Trenton entered this season again assured of trips to the playoffs from the five-team -- three 2A teams and two 1As -- 12-2A.
includes Collinsville and Valley View, as well as Sam Rayburn. Celeste joins Honey Grove and Trenton in 13-2A. The 3A girls TABC poll included No. 1 Mount Pleasant Chapel Hill, the defending champion, as well as No. 6 Edgewood, No. 11 Winnsboro, No. 15 Mineola, No. 18 Howe and No. 23 Pottsboro. District 10-3A includes Howe, with Bonham and Leonard. Meanwhile, Ector’s Eagles garnered the No. 24 spot in the TABC 1A boys pre-season poll, which was led by defendingchampion Slidell and also included No. 14. Saltillo. Last February, Ector made its fifth-consecutive boys postseason trip, reaching the area-round. The Eagles graduated none off their roster last spring. Defending-champion Dallas Madison led the 3A TABC boys poll, ending the Bonham Warriors’ historic basketball season -- most-know singleseason wins with 26, first postseason bi-district win and second area-round advance -- en route to the title in the second round. The 3A rankings also included No. 9 Atlanta, No. 19 Commerce and No. 24 Van Alstyne -- the latter of which competes in 103A with Bonham and Leonard. The 2A TABC boys poll included: No. 1 Shelbyville, the defending champion, followed by No. 3 Martin’s Mill, No. 6 Muenster and No. 9 Clarksville.
