Tylosaurus
Tylosaurus are part of the
Mosasaurus family, giant pred atory marine reptiles which grew to more than 40 feet in length (the length of a semitruck trailer) and weighed up to 15 tons (about two elephants), making them one of the largest and most ferocious sea preda tors ever. Its jaws were lined on each side with two rows
of pointy, cone-shaped teeth. Tylosaurus used its snout to locate prey, which, once inside the sea monster’s menacing jaws, was swallowed whole.
Staff and volunteers at the Pe rot Museum have been work ing on one of the large blocks of Tylosaurus bones collected in July. Museum visitors can watch this work in real-time, through a plexiglass viewing window at the fossil prep lab in the paleontology hall.
The block has produced the entire right lower jaw, some bones from the left lower jaw, part of the tip of the snout, and the right upper jawbone. Two other large blocks containing more of the skull, as well as a medium block still need to be investigated meaning work on the Cretaceous creature can be viewed by public for several months to come.
“Large vertebrate fossil specimens as complete as this one are hard to come by,” said Dr. Tykoski. “This is a big Ty losaurus and beautifully pre served, with great detail pres ent in the bones which gives researchers the chance to look at subtle details and anatomi cal nuances - telling us a lot more about these extinct ani mals.”
Once all the bones are fully cleaned up, they will be taken to the museum’s collection facility for safe storage, care and further study.

Look For the Crack in the Sidewalk
By: Michelle O’Rizal The Philosophical Gardener
We all have seen the cheesy sign Bloom Where You Are Planted a million times at Hob by Lobby, the garden centers, or Trade Days. In fact, I would bet most of us have been gifted this clever little missive once (or ten times) just because we are known gardeners.
But have you ever really thought about the power of what that means for you?
As children we know no
bounds. Everything is pos sible. Like little seedlings, we all start out in life with a preprogrammed idea of our ideal growing environment to pro duce a spectacularly showy life that brings awe and inspiration to all we encounter.
Then like the weather, un predictable life happens. The indiscriminate winds of chance arrive and catch us off-guard carrying us far from our ide ally envisioned path. We are tossed, hurled, blown, carried, sometimes eaten only to be
expelled from the other end of life and inevitably deposited over a cliff or if we are lucky in the crack of a sidewalk.
But what do we as humans do when life happens, and we lose our grip on the ideal we so tightly held? I can’t speak for everyone but have found my self flattened out, unmotivated and momentarily certain that I am irreparably broken. How long I languish is mine alone to choose.
Once again, I find the gardens are the key to my restoration,

Be on Alert - Medicare never calls you unless you have called them and requested a call back, and neither does Social Security. Scammers might even say you will be receiving a new Medicare card.

inspiration, rejuvenation, reno vation, and soul.
If life has you down, remem ber, think wildflower. Get out side, get some sunshine, and look around. You, like the ti niest of bird-dropped seeds can surely find a scrap of some place to put your roots of hope and wiggle in. You can grow from there. It may not be what you expected but the beauty of being you will still blossom no matter where you land if you are grounded in hope.
Look for the crack in the side walk.

their dog is smart, the voice in my head says “Of course your dog is smart, lady. Dogs are smart!”. Conversely, when someone tells me their dog is dumb, my thought is “Your dog’s not dumb… He’s just misunderstood”. And after working with that dog, this has proven to always be the case. - Most experts agree an adult dog has roughly the in telligence of a three year old child. Dogs not only can learn human language and inflec tion to the tune of several hun dred words and phrases, but they can easily learn visual
people tell
cues too. So which breed is the smart est? There are many polls and opinions floating around as to the smartest dog breed. Usual ly the herding breeds like Bor der Collies, Australian Shep herds, and German Shepherds, come in toward the top. Also working breeds, like Poodles, Dobermans and Labrador Re trievers. But I can’t tell you how many mixed breed dogs I’ve worked with, who were pretty brilliant. So-called “mutts” have distinguished themselves in the service of man, in a number of differ ent fields. Search and rescue, bomb detection and police work for example.
I’ve had 10 dogs in my life, and half of them have been mutts. Three out of those 5
were super sharp. - Some dogs are just naturally good problem solvers. Like the Jack Russell who figures out how to unlatch his crate, or the Lab who sorts out how to open the front door merely from watching you do it a few times. I call this ‘wolf intel ligence’, because wolves are brilliant problem solvers. It’s a survival thing. If you lock a wolf in a house, ultimately he’s getting out of there, one way or another. But a domes tic dog may well starve to death in that same situation. The domestic dog has come to depend on us, whereas a wolf depends on his wits.
So try not to be too smug about how smart your pure bred dog is. You’ll feel pret ty silly when your neighbor teaches his mutt how to ride a bike. And never underesti mate the intelligence of your own dog. Because the truth is, our best tool when it comes to training Max, is patience. With enough time, patience and know-how, you could train any dog to walk on a fence.

Genesis 1:26-31
Psalms 8
I never tire of reading the creation story as recorded in the early chapters of the Book of Genesis. It is of important note that the first days of creation were spent making the world as
we know it. Bringing order out of that which was with out form and void, and get ting the earth ready for the habitation of mankind, the climax of God’s creative work. Psalms 8 says of man that he was created a little lower than the angels. Another claim of scripture is that we have been and are being fearfully and wonderfully made. (Psalms 139:14)
As we observe the un folding of the human story several things emerge. In Genesis 1:26, we hear from God these words “Let us make man.” Following His decree, He mentions “our design” – “God’s im age”.
He gave to man some directions for life. Not only are we given the command to subdue the earth but also to make the right moral and spiritual choices. To this
Gospel of the Resurrection
By Mike Dickison (Minister of the Ivanhoe Church of Christ)
The gospel of Jesus Christ is both exciting and encouraging to all that believe in the Holy Scriptures. In the first letter to the church at Corinth, Paul em phasizes the gospel as the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ “according to the scriptures” (1
CALVARY UNITED PENTECOSTAL CHURCH

Corinthians 15:1-4).
The Gospel declares Jesus to be the Son of God. Jesus was the master teacher, a good man, a friend to many, a healer. Jesus is proven to be the Son of God by his resurrection. Jesus is “declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resur rection from the dead” (Romans 1:4).
The Gospel declares the Power of God for salvation. Paul de clares, “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek” (Romans 1:16).
The Gospel declares God’s eternal plan. In Peter’s first gospel sermon, after the death, burial, and resurrections of Je sus, informs that “Him (Jesus), being delivered by the determi nate counsel and foreknowledge of God, ye have taken, and by wicked hands have crucified and slain: Whom God hath raised up, having loosed the pains of death: because it was not pos sible that he should be holden of it” (Acts 2:23-24).
The Gospel declares the Resur rection to be Reliable. God did not leave himself without wit ness. Peter said, “And we are witnesses of all things which he

Hello everyone!
end, we were given a con science to be controlled by the Holy Spirit. In response to man’s disobedience, we face an eternal destiny of doom. “The wages of sin is death”- Romans 6:23. “By one man’s sin, death has encompassed the whole earth” - Romans 5:18. As early as Genesis 3:15, God promised deliverance from spiritual death through the seed of woman, Jesus the Christ.
We have been made capable of fellowship with God. It is the amazing truth that The One that walks beside us holding our hand, is the same One who lives within us. The light of God’s presence shines within us, as well as upon us. “I am in you, and you are in me” (John 14)therefore rejoice in this re lationship
did both in the land of the Jews, and in Jerusalem; whom they slew and hanged on a tree: Him God raised up the third day, and shewed him openly; Not to all the people, but unto witnesses chosen before of God, even to us, who did eat and drink with him after he rose from the dead” (Acts 10:39-41)
The Gospel declares the Scriptures to be true. Luke presents the history of the church, “And Paul, as his manner was, went in unto them, and three sabbath days reasoned with them out of the scriptures, Opening and al leging, that Christ must needs have suffered, and risen again from the dead; and that this Je sus, whom I preach unto you, is Christ” (Acts 17:2-3)
The Gospel demands obedi ence. “In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: Who shall be punished with ev erlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power” (2 Thes salonians 1:8-9). “Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? There fore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life” (Romans 6:3)

iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.
We had a wonderful service in God’s house Sunday morning! One of my favorite places to go in God’s Word for encouragement is John chapter 16. This is part of Jesus’ farewell discourse to His disciples the night before His crucifixion. I especially love verse 33 when He says, “These things I have spoken unto you, that in Me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.” I have often used this passage to encourage others.
Ephesians 4:18 - Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart:
Romans 3:23 - For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
I am once again drawn to a hymn written by John Henry Yates for our reference this week.
The
Encamped along the hills of light, Ye Christian soldiers, rise And press the battle ere the night Shall veil the glowing skies. Against the foe in vales below Let all our strength be hurled; Faith is the victory, we know, That overcomes the world. Faith is the victory!

Week of November 2, 2022
Cooper FAIR. Water lightly stained; 78 degrees. Fishing con tinues to be similar, as the water temperature cools look for fish to move shallow chasing bait fish. Catfish are good on noodles. White bass fair chasing bait balls over the lake with jigs, small spoons, anything flashy. Crappie are slow to fair on main lake brush piles and standing timber with jigs and minnows. Bass are fair along grass ledges and standing timber with crankbaits.
Fork GOOD. Water Stained; 65 degrees; 6.84 feet low. Bass fishing is slow. The best bite is in 2-6 feet of water on wood or laydowns near ditches and creeks using green pumpkin or gold flake Texas rigs, and Viper XP jigs in Raptor Craw and Sourgrape, and PB&J. Some fish are in the very back of the pockets. Few fish are being caught on main lake points and secondary points in eight feet of water using shad patterned XD 5 crankbaits.
Ray Roberts GOOD; Water is clear; 62 degrees; 2.00 feet be low. Fishing patterns are similar. White bass are good fishing in 25-30 feet of water jigging with slabs with a bucktail trailer. Blue and some channel catfish are fair mixed in with whites us ing cut shad. Several catches of blue catfish while slabbing for white bass. Crappie are good scattered from shallow and deep in brush piles biting in minnows. Bass are good shallow with crankbaits, and soft plastics in 10 feet of water.
Tawakoni GOOD. Water lightly stained; 70 degrees; 3.62 feet low. Lake Tawakoni water temps have dropped to that magi cal 70 degree mark. When this happens a lot changes on our lake. Eggs start developing in our white bass and striper, and they begin feeding more often and more aggressively. These fish have been good under seagulls using swimbaits on cloudy windy days. On clear calm days fishing is tougher and requires fishing with slabs off the bottom in 15-20 feet of water. The trophy blue catfish are starting to turn on. We are seeing big blues starting to be caught in that 15-30 feet range on big open flats drifting cut shad. The eater blue and channel catfish bite is still about as good as it gets. Prepared punch and dip baits are out producing shrimp and shad. Timber or structure in 20-35 feet of water is best. Crappie have been good suspended on deeper main lake timber with jigs out fishing minnows. Large mouth bass have been good shallow on topwaters at daylight and quickly transitioning to a shallow rattle trap and weightless fluke bite near docks and retaining walls.
Texoma EXCELLENT. Water stained; 65 degrees; 1.96 feet below. Jump groups of birds to locate fish scattered from 10-60 feet of water all over the lake. Striped bass feed up in fall and winter months, and the quality of fish are looking great. Striped bass are biting on slabs when the fish are deeper with less sur face action, and swimbaits when there is more surface action and fish are shallow. Report by John Blasingame, Adventure Texoma Outdoors. Striped bass are excellent on topwaters and swimbaits in 5-15 feet of water on flats and the backs of creeks. Switching to live bait and slabs fishing under gulls that show up this time of year. Crappie are fair on chartreuse paddle tail jigs catching quality fish on the brush piles in 18-20 feet of wa ter. Minnows are still producing numbers of fish just not a lot of size. Blue and channel catfish are great on cut shad and pre pared baits in 40-50 feet of water. Big trophy blues are showing up drifting flats in 10-20 feet of water using cut gizzard shad. Smallmouth and largemouth are excellent on live shad along the bluffs in 8-15 feet of water using four inch swimbaits and lipless crankbaits along docks and wave breaks. Report by Ja cob Orr Lake Texoma Guaranteed Guide Service.
Game Warden Field Notes
Close Call — A Dallam County Game Warden reported that a landowner was moving his pri vate elk herd from one pen to another when a bull elk gored the man. The elk’s antler pen etrated nine inches into the man’s chest. Emergency sur gery saved the man’s life.
Not a happy reunion- A Travis County Warden apprehended five subjects dove hunting after sunset. One had an unplugged shotgun. While the warden was issuing the citations and con fiscating the illegally harvested birds, one of the subjects said, “Hey, remember me? You ar rested me last year on a fishing license warrant.” That might not have been a good time to reminisce.
Should have stuck to home repair- On Oct. 18, a Clay County game warden received a phone call about an individual
who was shooting at turkeys. After the game warden’s inves tigation, he filed on a subject for hunting turkey during closed season. The man was roofing a house when he noticed some turkeys walking across the yard. He then went to his truck, got his gun and began shooting at them. Case is pending. Oops- In mid-October, San Patricio Co. game wardens got an easy one as they were checking dove hunters. As they approached a group of hunters alongside a county road, some birds flew across the road and one lucky hunter hit his target with the bird landing square on the hood of the game wardens’ patrol vehicle. The hunters got a good laugh out of this until the game warden broke out the ticket book and educated them about discharging a firearm across a public road.

JEANETTE RANCE (WHITE) NICHOLS
Jeanette Rance (White) Nichols, 79, of Edhube, Texas entered eternal peace on Monday, November 7, 2022.
Jeanette was born on February 16, 1943 in Bonham, Texas to Jesse and Maurine White. She grew up in Fannin County and graduated from Ector High School.
Jeanette was blessed with three children: Jana, Joey and Jalah.
Throughout the years she had many titles including hairdresser, secretary, truck dispatcher, load broker and eventually her favorite title-Gannyma. She met Butch Nichols at VPG and started dating in 1986. After dating for many years, they tied the knot on April 18, 1997. In doing so they became our Pappy and Jammy. Together they enjoyed twenty-five years of country livin’ with their family and friends. In the last several years, in spite of her declining health, she was always a ray of sunshine in all our lives. Even on her rough days she would tell us she was fine with a smile on her face. Jeanette was always a lover of horses and doing things outside. Her passion was art. She could paint, draw, and create anything from nothing; be it a playhouse for her granddaughter or a Halloween costume for her grandson. She loved her family with the kind of love we didn’t deserve.
Jeanette is survived by her husband, Butch Nichols of Edhube, Texas, her daughters; Jana Robinson of Randolph, Texas and Jalah Robinson and her husband Steve of Ravenna, Texas. Grandchildren; Rachelle Grove and her husband Shay of Achille, Oklahoma, Everette Robinson and wife Teffany of Pottsboro, Texas, Robert Robinson and wife Baylee of Bells, Texas, Danielle Abbott and Wyatt Fannin of Savoy, Texas, Tiffani Stephens and husband Clayton of Savoy, Texas. Siblings; Judy Newell and husband Sweet Pea of Ector, Texas, Kay Richie and her husband Kenneth of Bells, Texas, Jayson White of Ector, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Jack and J.J. White and her infant son Joey Clayton Newell. Visitation was Thursday, November 10, 2022 at Cooper-Sorrells Funeral Home Bonham, Texas from 6:00 to 9:00 pm. Graveside service was held at 2:00 pm on Friday, November 11, 2022 at Hampton Cemetery. A Visitation for Connie Fae Baur, age 68, of Bonham, Texas was held from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Sunday, October 30, 2022 at Wise Funeral Home. Connie passed away early Monday morning, October 24, 2022, at Texoma Medical Center in Denison, Texas.
Connie was born on February 19, 1954, in Grapevine, Texas, the daughter of LC Dyer and JoAnn Parrish Dyer. She was the proud owner of E. L. Finney’s Antique store on the square in Bonham, Texas. Her love for antiques was proudly displayed there. Connie never met a stranger. One of her favorite things to do was to meet and chat with people who visited her store. She was an intelligent woman, but as her family fondly remembers, she could have her blonde moments. This just made Connie more endearing. She was always willing to help someone, especially if that someone was of the feline persuasion. She absolutely adored cats, especially her “daughter” Monster. Connie’s favorite song was “Always and Forever” by Heatwave. When you listen to it, imagine her singing it at the top of her lungs, smiling from ear to ear. Connie loved music, often making up her own songs throughout the day. Along with making up her own songs, Connie also wrote poetry. She also enjoyed movies, any genre, no matter the year they were made.
Connie believed in second chances, and gave many, especially to the people she cared for the most. She married James Patrick Baur on March 22, 2022, at Pearl Chinese in Grapevine, Texas. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Connie’s generous heart and kind soul will be greatly missed.
Connie is survived by her husband, Patrick Baur of Bonham, Texas; parents, LC and JoAnn Dyer; sons, Quinn Nguyen and wife Anna of Corinth, Texas, Keith Nguyen and wife Sarah of Hurst, Texas, Farrell Nguyen and wife DeNiya of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and Kenneth Belling; daughters, Mickie Wagner and husband Steven of Denton, Texas, Kelsey Nguyen of Lewisville, Texas, Kathie Parsons of Salem, Oregon, and Shelly Clothier; sisters, Debbi Franks and husband Kirk of Nevada, Texas and Sherry Dillehay of Melissa, Texas; grandchildren, Hunter, Logan, Austin, Kaylie, Addie, Olivia, Eisley, Ellie, Piper, Everly, Presley, and Ethan; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and a host of friends.

John Charles Fisher, Jr. was born in Sherman Texas to John Sr. and Judith O Anderson Fisher on October 3, 1938. He passed away October 20, 2022, at Clyde W. Cosper Texas State Veterans Home in Bonham.
The life celebration will take place on Sunday, November 20, 2022, 2:00 P.M. at Legacy Ridge Country Club in Bonham. It will be conducted by Rodney Sprayberry and Bo Fisher.
John began working at an early age to help support his mother and sisters. He had a newspaper route and worked at a service station while he attended high school. After graduating from Sherman High School in 1957, he worked on a seismograph crew for oil exploration. He joined the United States Air Force in July of 1960 and was stationed at Biggs Field in El Paso and was also deployed to Germany. John served with honor and was discharged in July of 1964. He went to work for the El Paso electric company in 1964 and continued there until they went on strike in 1974. Shortly after, he moved his family to Pottsboro, TX. He was hired at the Sam Rayburn VA Hospital as the boiler plant supervisor. He gave the VA twenty-two years of service, retiring in 1997. John also served on the Pottsboro City Council for several years.
John enjoyed playing basketball all through school. As an adult, he was an avid golfer, loved softball and was a tough competitor in cards and boardgames. He was always up for a pickup game of ball or horse if you were willing to lose. He volunteered and coached several little league baseball and basketball teams in support of his children. He loved to fish and hunt, though his last couple of years at hunting camp he did not bother to take a gun because he was there for the friendship and comradery. He passed his love of sports, golf especially, to his kids & grandkids. They will continue to chase his hole-in-one record, an astounding three!!
He is survived by his wife Tina, his mother-in-law Helen Justice, children: Tracy Fisher of Sherman, Bo Fisher and wife Sonya of Prosper, Tammy Mulholland and husband Mark of Kennewick, WA. He is also survived by three additional children: Kim Opp and husband Lonnie of El Paso, Jody Compton of Bonham, and Rikki McCollum and husband Glenn of Pottsboro. He has the following grandchildren: Brittany Fowler, Krista Bojarski, AyJay Mulholland, Jake Mulholland, Jesse Hall, Ben Hall, Andy Hall, Jerika Compton, Ryatt Compton, McKinzy McCollum, Brody McCollum, Jonathan Seals, and numerous great-grandchildren. John is also survived by his sisters Joan Blankenship and Joyce Gorman, and his special canine angels: Oreo, Sy and Rowdy.
His daughter Tammy and granddaughter AyJay are running the New York Marathon on November 6th in his honor.
John is preceded in death by his parents, sister Janice Blankenship and daughter Casandra Fisher.
The family wants to thank the Sherman Hospice Plus Team for their care and support.
John appreciated all of the parenting and co-parenting assistance by Mary Ann Gillispie, Billy and Shelly Reedy and Sheila Compton.

Parker’s Pushing Produces Prominence: Evans’ State XC advance continues Leonard’s, dad’s running tradition
By Rich Hilliard
LEONARD -- Names mean something in Leonard athletics.
During at least the last decade, the school each fall had had a partici pant almost all that time in the State girls’ cross country competitions. Three girls during that span advanced multiple years in a row to the season-finale events in Round Rock: Chelsea Brockus, Jessi Bennett, Audrey Shaw.
After a couple of years sans a State qualifier, an other name - Parker Ev ans -- on Nov. 5 ended that brief absence.
The sophomore fin ished 39th amongst 149 runners in 12:58.9 in the Class 3A State girls’ cross country race.
“It was definitely dif ferent,” said Evans on Nov. 7. “I’m used to running against district [competition] and where I usually do.
“It is some of the same girls you are running against for the whole race [at State]. You have to push yourself harder,” she said. “It exposed me to different runners -- it was a good experience, “It pushed me to get better for this for next year.”
Evans qualified for State cross country competition on Oct. 25. She finished 10th in the Region II-3A girls’ race in 14:45.23 -- complet ing a longer than normal course -- to advance. That came after she won the 113A girls’ individuals title in
14:27.6 on Oct. 13
time since 2019.
As a freshman, Evans finished 19th in 12:51 -- a personal record -- in the regional race, after taking fourth in 11-3A in 16:10.3 to advance in dividually and with her team.
What made the differ ence between the years?
“You have to push yourself harder in prac tice and during meets [during the year],” she said. “You have to tell yourself you can do it -and not be hesitant.”
Evans’ achievement also came two years af ter making the switch from 1A Ector to 3A Leonard.
“It’s been different. I was at my old school from Pre-K to eighth grade,” said Evans. “Running in junior high is totally different.
“I’ve started getting used to it,” she said. “It has gotten better.”

ROUND ROCK -- Senior Lindsey Mauppin finished 11th individually to lead Dodd City to 10th place as a team on Nov. 5 at the Class 1A State girls’ cross country meet at Old Settler’s Park.
Mauppin, a four-time State cross country competitor, ended her final high school cross country race in 12:59.
Meanwhile, Ector freshman Lydia Essary placed 30th in 13:32.2 and Dodd City senior Autumn Brown finished 39th in 13:39.4 in the 1A girls’ race amongst the field of 149
girls.
Additionally, Dodd City junior Jaden Mahar placed
40th on Nov. 5 in 18:39 in the 1A State boys’ race which included 146 competitors. Other Dodd City runners who completed in the 1A State girls’ race included these and their finishes: junior Hannah Burney, 103rd, 15:01.4; junior Addyson Chaney, 106th, 15:06.7; freshman Breezy Jenkins, 113th, 15:22.6; freshman Addison Weeks, 114th, 15:22.8; and freshman Riley Murray, 146th, 16:33.7.
It equated the first State cross country advances for the Dodd City girls other than Mauppin, Ector’s Essary and Dodd City’s Mahar.

The change in schools also meant moving where another familiar name in Leonard athletics -- her dad, Brad Evans -previously was a success ful runner. His name appears on a sign on an indoor wall outside the Leonard gym nasium for his times in the 1600m and 3200m.
“He pushed me into cross country,” said Evans, “since I have long legs.
“He told me cross country might be a thing I should do,” she said.
“I’ve seen his name and pushed myself to be up there [on a sign] -- to put it in his face.”

BONHAM -- Senior Alli
couldn’t be missed the last four years on the court while playing volleyball for Bonham.
Her hitting helped the Lady Warriors reach the Region II-3A quarterfinals -- for the first time in 11 years -- to complete her freshmen season -- and earned her the District 10-3A newcom er of the year award.
However, she won’t mind for going at the next level what also earned her a shared and solo su perlative in 11-3A the last two years.
“I’m happy to be on a team where I don’t have to hit,” said Kirkpatrick on Nov. 9 after signing her national letter of intent to be a setter for Angelo State University volleyball.
“Setting is more my cup of tea,” she said. “I like setting because I’m in control of the court and kind of in control of
the speed of the game.”
The signing ceremony inside the Bonham High school gym nasium occurred with family, friends, coaches, teammates and classmates present.
She had verbally committed in May to play for the NCAA Division II and Lone Star Con ference school in San Angelo,
Texas.
“It was the family culture there,” said Kirkpatrick. “It felt like my home away from home.
“I knew it was where I wanted to be,” she said.

“It’s cool: She gets as excited for her teammates as she does for herself.”

Ector Beautification Association Fundraiser for a Pavilion
Press Release - The Ector Beautification Association is accepting donations to build a pavilion at Dulaney Park in Ector. The park currently boasts a walking trail, play ground equipment, tether ball, disc golf, benches and picnic tables. The Ector Beautification Association has worked hard at fundrais ers through the past few years to accomplish these things. A pavilion will allow indi viduals, families, and other groups to hold birthday par ties, reunions, church func tions, and numerous other activities at the park. The
pavilion will provide shelter from inclement weather as well as a concrete floor to add stability for those with balance issues. Picnic tables will be under the pavilion and electricity will be available.
A local builder/contractor has generously committed to building the pavilion at no cost for his labor. This alone
will be a huge savings to the overall cost.
An Ector citizen is issuing a $1,000 challenge to local businesses, organizations and individuals in order to expedite the building of the pavilion in a timely manner.
Of course, all donations will gladly be accepted. Donors will be provided with a tax identification 501 (c)(3) form for tax purposes.
Anyone who participates in the challenge will be recog nized in a permanent display at the park once the pavilion is completed.
