Paris District Road Report for week of Nov. 20, 2023 Paris -- Here’s a look at work planned in the district for the week starting Nov. 20, 2023. These schedules are subject to change due to weather conditions, equipment failure or other unforeseen issues. Motorists are advised to remain alert and pay special attention to all signs, barricades and traffic controls, and reduce their speed as they approach and travel through work zones. They should also avoid distractions such as cell phones, eating, drinking, or car audio or navigation systems. Fannin County: The annual crack seal contract to place sealant in the pavement cracks on roadways in Fannin County has begun. The following roadways will receive a crack seal: FM 64 from SH 34 to the Delta County line; FM 151 from US 69 to the Grayson County line; FM 981 from US 69 to the Collin County line; SH 50 from Church Street to the Hunt County line; FM 904 from FM 64 to FM 1550; FM 274 from FM 898 to FM 1753; FM 1629 from SH 121 to SH 78; FM 87 from SH 56 to US 82; FM 273 from FM 1396 to FM 2029; FM 1753 from SH 78 to the Grayson County line. Motorists should expect delays as flaggers and pilot cars direct traffic through the work zone. SH 78, from US 82 to the Oklahoma State line. Watch for daytime shoulder closures and occasional lane closures as workers install sloped end treatments on drainage structures and replace bridge rail and guardrail. FM 100, from SH 56 to FM 2216. Watch for daytime lane closures as crews work to rehabilitate and widen the roadway. Motorists should expect delays as signals and pilot cars direct traffic through the work zone. FM 271, from SH 78 to FM 68. Watch for daytime lane closures as crews work to rehabilitate and widen the roadway. Motorists should expect delays as signals and pilot cars direct traffic through the work zone. CR 3210 at Bullard Creek. CR 3210 at Bullard Creek is closed to through traffic to allow for replacement of the bridge. During the closure, traffic is asked to use CR 3200 as a detour. SH 34, from FM 64 to FM 1550. Watch for traffic shifts and traffic-signal-controlled lane closures as workers build the bridge approaches for the new SH 34 roadway at the future Lake Ralph Hall. FM 1550, from SH 34 to CR 3544. Watch for daytime lane closures as crews work on building the connection of the realigned FM 1550 to the existing roadway. Motorists should expect delays as flaggers and pilot cars direct traffic through the work zone.

TURKEY MUSHROOM TETRAZZINI 8 oz. uncooked spaghetti 3 Tbsp. cornstarch 1 can or 14 ½ oz chicken broth ½ tsp. seasoned salt dash of pepper 1 Tbsp. butter ¼ c. finely chopped onion 1 garlic, minced 4 oz. or more of mushrooms, sliced 1 can of evaporated milk 2½ c. cubed cooked turkey breast 2 Tbsp. Parmesan cheese ¼ tsp. paprika Preheat oven to 350°. Cook spaghetti according to package directions, drain. Mix cornstarch, broth and seasonings in a large saucepan, heat butter over medium-high heat; saute onion until tender. Add garlic; cook and stir 1 minute. Stir cornstarch mixture and add to pan. Bring to a boil; cook and stir until thickened, 1-2 minutes. Reduce heat to low. Add milk; cook and stir 2-3 minutes. Stir in turkey, mushrooms and spaghetti. Transfer to an 8 inch square baking dish coated with baking spray. Bake covered, 20 minutes. Sprinkle with cheese and paprika; bake, uncovered, until heated through, 5-10 minutes. ENJOY!!!! Leonard's Brooke Day earned a spot on the academic all-state elite volleyball team of the Texas High School Coaches Association for 2023. The first team included Leonard's Sydnee Richardson and Sadie Denison, with Bonham's Kylee Trompler on the second team. Sam Rayburn's Abigail Keeton, Aspen Williams and Ella Terry joined Bonham's Kate Bounds and Kaitlyn Capehart as honorable mentions.
Leonard-ex Brown all-conference for SOSU for 2023 football season 4/4/23 The sophomore running back additionally accumulated 94 receiving yards via 18 catches, including two touchdowns receptions. Brown, originally a DivisionI Lehigh University signee as a running back, ended his high school career at Leonard with 6,654 rushing yards.

The Warriors (10-1) played top-ranked undefeated Timpson (12-0) in a Region III-2AI semifinal football game on Friday, Nov. 24, at Athens' Bruce Field. The winner will face either Cooper, a District 9-2A-I and longtime sports rival of Honey Grove's, or Garrison in the Region III-2A-I final Nov. 30, Dec. 1 or Dec. 2. To advance, Timpson won, 58-20, against Wolfe City, also a 9-2A-I rival of Honey Grove's, in the area round on
Nov. 17. Honey Grove advanced via a 40-36 area-round rematch win over Centerville at Mineola's Meredith Memorial Stadium, also on Nov. 17. The win followed a 47-0 victory over Ore City on Nov. 9 in the bi-district round at Sulphur Springs' Gerald Prim Stadium. The wins assured the Warriors' first multiple-victory football postseason since 1970 and included their first secondround win since 2012. Fifty-three years ago, Honey Grove reached the Class 1A quarterfinals -- then, equating the third round of the playoffs. The Warriors lost, 4-3, on penetrations inside the opponent's 20-yard line at Temple on Dec.
5, 1970, to Sonora -- the eventual 1A State champion -- after tying, 19-19, at the end of regulation, per the Dec. 7, 1970 edition of The Bonham Daily Favorite. Previously, Honey Grove, the 14-1A champion, defeated Farmersville, 27-6, in the bi-district round and Joshua, 21-7, in the regional (second) round. The Warriors finished that 1970 season 12-0-1 after the third-round rematch. Eleven years ago, Honey Grove went undefeated in 8-1A-I to garner a bi-district bye, defeated Hico, 42-27, in the area round and lost to Italy, 33-20, in the regional (third) round. The Warriors finished the 2012 season at 10-1-1.

Consider and possible action acknowledging the monthly financial reports for August 2023: Mr. McDonald asked the Director of Administrative Services, Sarah Osburn, about individual items in the report relating to plumbing and other expenses. After which, Ms. Osburn explained a change in the format of the report regarding those expenses which addressed the confusion. Board Member Allen Sanderson then made the motion to accept the report with Board Member Wayne Moore seconding the motion which passed. 4. Citizens Opportunity to Speak: [The Board of Directors of the Bonham Economic Development Corporation invites persons with comments or observations to briefly address the Board for the limited purpose of determining whether the matter should be referred to staff for study and response and/or be placed on a future meeting agenda. Local practice limits comments to three (3) minutes or less. State law prohibits the Board of Directors from considering deliberations on any item not listed on the posted Board of Directors agenda.]: Director of Tourism & Marketing for the City of Bonham, Melissa Maxwell, spoke to announce the official launching of the “Bonham Now Podcast” and to encourage all to listen to, follow and share the episodes that can be found online at www.bonhamnow.com . She noted there are currently two podcasts available with two more to be added each month. The next to speak was citizen Rusty Deets who spoke to thank those who are donating their time to serve on the BEDCO Board and to wish them and everyone attending the meeting, a Happy Thanksgiving. Last to speak was a new resident of Bonham who spoke to ask questions regarding the proposed tax increment reinvestment zone map. She noted her property was located halfway in the boundary lines of the zone and voiced concerns about how it would affect her property. She questioned whether property in a TIRZ zone would be zoned commercial and if it would cause her taxes to go up. BEDCO’s Executive Director Gayle Cooper explained that P3 Works created the map and along with City Manager Sean Pate, detailed how the map is currently just a proposed map that is a far way off from being adopted
and implemented. Mr. Pate further clarified that a TIRZ zone would not affect whether property was zoned residential or commercial and would not cause her taxes to go up but could benefit her by possibly allowing certain improvements made to her property, to qualify for TIRZ credits. 5. Executive Director’s Report: Ms. Cooper began by saying she had just completed proofing the “Downtown Master Plan” online. She then noted the first public input meeting held October 23, 2023, had about 15 to 20 people in attendance with the November 9th meeting drawing approximately 55 people with most of the responses being favorable aside from a few concerns voiced about the plans for the Trade Days area. She commented how she was happy with how the public is viewing the plans and noted their feedback has been documented. Ms. Cooper further noted that whether another meeting for public input would be held would be up to the board. She thanked Allen Sanderson for working with the downtown advisory group and for the presentation he made during November 9th’s meeting. She commented on how she came about orchestrating the downtown plan and voiced her belief that the plan is good, solid, well thought out and visionary in a lot of areas advising that she and the advisory group had traveled to McKinney, Denison and Farmersville in their research for ideas for the plan. She then commented on the BEDCO property on Hwy 121 noting that it had been sitting with an LOI (letter of intent) attached to it when she first became Executive Director with that designation having been attached to it for approximately three years with nothing happening on it. She described interests existing on two of three sections of the property. She noted an anticipated net profit on the development of one million dollars and touched on the $450,000 in expenses. She said to anticipate a lot of exciting things happening in Bonham before referring the board to a two-page annual report that focused on the year’s activities with a few color charts detailing: Downtown Bonham, Marketing/Promotional Activities, Property Investment on Hwy 121, Infrastructure Investments and Performance Agreements. She concluded her report by noting this was her last board meeting. Alan McDonald thanked her for her service to BEDCO and to Bonham and asked for a motion to adjourn. 6. Adjourn: The meeting adjourned at 5:46 p.m.

Public Forum: Judge Cunningham noted his wish to use this time to speak about the upcoming total solar eclipse set to occur April 8, 2024, beginning around 12:00 p.m. and concluding around 1:47 p.m. He touched on the history of such events commenting on the total solar eclipse that occurred in Texas in 1937 and how many may be traveling to our area for the viewing of the “ring of fire” that will last around 3 minutes while the moon lines up with the sun and blocks out its rays except for the sun’s corona. He advised that anyone wishing to view the rare event, to purchase special sunglasses to prevent damage to their eyes. ROUTINE ITEMS: 6. EMS report for October 2023 – Scott Ridling, Fire Chief: Bonham Fire Chief Scott Ridling began his report by adding to the Judge’s comments on the expected solar eclipse and noting the state has suggested Texas counties plan for an increased influx to their areas in relation to the event to assure resources are available during that time. He then reported a steady month with an average of 12.8 calls per day and noted the collection efforts on the Medicare recoup is ongoing. He concluded his report by stating the department is fully staffed and though there has been an increase in Covid cases (5 employees having contracted it since the beginning of the month), it seems to be resolving and is not steady. 7. Approve payment of bills – County Auditor: Assistant to the Fannin County Auditor, Sherry Zindar reported an amount of $443,302.07 needing to be paid. Commissioner Magness made the motion to approve payment with Commissioner Kopf seconding the motion which passed. 8. Approve Auditor year end reports; September 2023

Report of monies received by the Fannin County Clerk’s office for October 2023; Land Records, $32,123.50, All Courts combined, $8,570.50 – County Clerk: Informational only. 11. Approve Treasurer’s Financial Report for October 2023 – County Treasurer: Fannin County Treasurer David Woodson reported total receipts being $685,850.63. A motion was made by Commissioner Magness to approve with Commissioner McQueen seconding the motion which passed. 12. Approve Treasure’s Investment Report for October 2023 – County Treasurer: Mr. Woodson reported the interest on the Tex Pool accounts being at $29,638.39 on a balance of $5,980,253.19; the interest on the 2022 Bond being $18,828.26 on a balance of $11,094,247.90 and the Operating Business Money Funds interest was $170 on a balance of $130,306.61. Total interest for October was $48,636.65. After a brief discussion regarding interest rates, a motion was made by Commissioner Kopf to approve with Commissioner McQueen seconding the motion which passed. She then noted Freese & Nichols was the committee’s choice. After her comments Alan Hendrix and Chris Boswell with Freese & Nichols spoke to expound on their company and thank the court for the opportunity to work again with Fannin County. Judge Cunningham also commented on their qualifications noting Freese & Nichols only work for government agencies and do not work for individual developers avoiding conflict of interest issues. After more discussion on why Freese & Nichols was chosen over the other 3 firms, a motion was made by Commissioner Magness to approve the selection with Commissioner McQueen seconding the motion which passed. 16. Approve going out for bid for copier leases and services - Purchasing Agent: After some discussion, this motion was passed on. 17. Rent Smooth Pad 48” Roller from ASCO Equipment Rental for one month for Precinct 1 – Commissioner Precinct 1: After some discussion, this motion was passed on. 18. Approve amount of up to $413,829.00 for the demolition of (a) the northwest portion of the old Walmart building loading area; (b) interior finishes in buildings, including the old Walmart and Brookshires; and (c) the strip center located at the new Justice Center site – County Judge: Before Judge Cunningham began his explanation on this, Fannin County resident Mitchell Smith asked to speak to share with the court three suggestion/questions aimed at assisting the county in arriving at the best possible price for the services needed. After Mr. Smith’s comments/suggestions, Judge Cunningham thanked him and noted his suggestions would be taken into consideration as the goal of paying the lowest amount possible is pursued.

He noted he enjoys attending the meetings, thanked everyone for their attendance and wished all a Happy Thanksgiving. Commissioner Kopf also relayed his thanks for everyone’s attendance and for their input as it helps with the court’s decisions. Regarding posting work scheduled in his precinct, he noted his team has daily meetings regarding planned work, but stated often emergencies cause those plans to change. He then advised the public might want to avoid CR 3210 due to an accident that damaged the railroad tracks on that road in Dodd City. He is currently waiting for TXDot to correct the problem as it was one of their trucks that caused the damage. Judge Cunningham commented on the Thanksgiving Holiday being an American holiday and reflected how Americans generally have more to be thankful for than do occupants of other countries. He then noted how Fannin County is blessed, how he is blessed to live here, exhorted all to be thankful this holiday and to always remember to share with our neighbors and our community. He concluded by requesting prayer for the conflict ongoing in the Middle East, thanking everyone for their time and comments he noted those who do not express their opinion do not have a right to complain about decisions that are made. He encouraged everyone to vote as their leaders are a reflection of what the people want and noted his court is here to serve. 32. Adjourn: Meeting adjourned at 9:57 a.m.

Press Release On Saturday, 18 November 2023, the Fannin County Amateur Radio Club met at the gazebo at First Presbyterian Church in Bonham for a quick meeting prior to grilling the hotdogs for the Spirit of Giving. The business part of the meeting covered a summary of the activities of the year, reminder of officer nominations due to VP James Hunt KI5DQ, and that our next meeting will also be a special event for our group at Windom Feed Sack. The earlier a vendor arrives, the more likely the vendor is to get the space that the vendor wants. All the spaces are good. The spaces are approximately thirty feet wide and twenty feet deep. To rent a space at Bonham Trade Days, the vendor must come IN PERSON. The vendor should drive or walk around the area, looking for a space that has a white Styrofoam cup on the space. If the space that a vendor wants has a cup on it, it means that space is available to be rented. No cup on a space means that space has been rented previously. All animals must be sold on the east side – no exceptions. When vendor finds a space that the vendor wants, the vendor takes the cup from the space and goes to the Kiwanis Club Trade Days office, which is located on the northeast corner of the Pavilion. The Pavilion is easy to find; it is the covered space there. Space rental is $30 for a total of four days (Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday). Rental for six months is $130.00. Electricity is extra and can be paid for at the time the space is rented. It is VERY IMPORTANT to keep your rental receipt. Collectors will come by on Saturday and Sunday and ask to see your receipt. If you cannot provide your rental receipt, you will be expected to pay again. The Kiwanis club accepts checks when you can show your driver’s license. Otherwise, a vendor must pay in cash. Kiwanis accepts no credit cards. The money earned by Kiwanis from this venture is donated to worthy youth groups in Bonham and Fannin County and to the Children of the World. CENTRAL Map of Texas with the different regions of the state identified. The weather was cooler over the past week, and isolated areas saw minimal rainfall. The recent rains continued to improve the soil moisture profile, but drier weather allowed winter wheat and other small grain crops to be planted. Hay baling was completed, and farmers prepared the land for later spring planting. The earlier planted grazing winter wheat and oats were looking excellent and in the tillering stage. The first fields of carinata were planted and emerged quite
nicely. One county reported expecting 4,500 acres of carinata to be planted through the winter. This new crop was expected to fit the bill as a rotational broadleaf crop alternative to cotton. The small harvest from the spring produced respectable yields. There were isolated reports of armyworms and woolly caterpillars. Livestock were being supplemented and in fair to good body condition.
Some livestock were grazing on early planted winter cereal forages. Some ranchers reported that round bales of Coastal Bermuda grass sold at $150 per roll. Beef cattle numbers were anticipated to decline further, reflecting high winter feed costs. EAST Most producers began supplemental feeding due to a forage shortage. Cooler temperatures caused most

Happy Thanksgiving! Fork GOOD. Water Stained; 62-65 degrees; 2.13 feet below pool. Bass are good with the best bite on squarebill crankbaits and chatterbaits in 3-5 feet of water. Texas rigs and Viper XP jigs are good on the edge of the weeds and stems in 3-5 feet of water. Carolina rig picking a few up off shore in 8-15 feet on points and humps. Lavon GOOD. Water lightly stained; 62 degrees; 3.27 feet below pool. White bass are good in 20-25 feet of water on main lake points and humps with chartreuse 1 ounce lead slabs with a crappie jig 1/16 ounce tied on a looped knot 2 feet above your slab, or paddle tail swimbait. Bluegill are slow to nonexistent. Catfish can be caught in 10-25 of water drifting cut shad, sunfish, or drum. There are numbers of eater size fish in 17-25 feet of water with the larger catfish roaming. Black bass are good on swimbaits and Alabama rigs over brush piles. Crappie are in 15-25 feet of water in brush with minnows but jigs are out producing. Ray Roberts GOOD. Water normal stain; 62 degrees; 1.55 feet below pool. Sand bass are good with many limits caught off the bottom in 30-45 feet of water with slabs with a hair jig as trailer. Blue catfish are mixed in. Bass are fair with a few in shallow water around grass beds with small white spinnerbaits, or a dropshot in 20-30 feet in deeper water. Crappie are slow with a few keepers in 30-40 feet of water on the deepest parts of the brush piles with minnows. A few reports of crappie shallow in foot of water in the creek. Tawakoni GOOD. Water lightly stained; 63 degrees; 0.53 feet below pool. Lake Tawakoni continues to fish great over the Thanksgiving week. Fish have been active on all levels and we expect good fishing over the next month. Striper and white bass are very active over the south end of the lake. Slabs and swimbaits working best in 10-20 feet off in lake points. Eating sized catfish are good on prepared baits such as punch bait in 20-30 feet. Trophy catfish are turning on with fresh shad in 20-40 feet. Crappie are good on bridge pilings and deeper brush in 20 feet with jigs and minnows working equal. Largemouth bite is solid in shallow water near docks, irrigation pump intakes and rip rap. Texoma GOOD. Water normal stained; 65 degrees; 2.54 feet below pool. Striped bass are great using live shad and swimbaits around gulls, under the gulls on flats with a four inch paddle tail, or chartreuse swimbaits on a 1 ounce jig head medium retrieve, or drifting live shad on flats in 35-45 feet of water. Catfish are great on cut gizzard shad chunks drifting deep flats in 40-50 feet of water along the main river channels. Largemouth or smallmouth bass are good on live shad and soft plastics along the bluffs and near the north bridges. Most producers were feeding hay due to early frost and drought that left us minimal forage in the later fall months. Livestock were doing well. There was no disease or insect outbreak reported in the region. ROLLING PLAINS Winter wheat across the district continued to show an optimistic start going into the winter. In many counties, stocker calves were being put on wheat pasture. Calf health was an issue on fresh cattle that were being shipped in. Soil moisture levels were holding reasonably well, which helped prolong summer grasses in areas that did not get a hard freeze. Most livestock were supplemented with cubes and hay; however, hay will be in tight supply this winter. Across the district, nearly all cotton acres failed and thus were destroyed.
JFK Assassination still considered a mystery by some
This month is the Sixtieth Anniversary of the assassanation of JFK. The facts below prove Oswald was innocent. When policeman, Marrion Baker heard the shooting, he saw pigeons fly off the roof of the Texas School Book Depository Building. He thought someone was shooting from the roof. He met Roy Truly, the building superintendent, and they started up the stairs to the roof. On the second floor, Bak-
er drew his gun on a man in the lunchrom. He asked Truly if he knew the man. "He is Lee Oswald and he works here." Baker put his gun back in his holster, and Oswald bought a soda from the soft-drink machine. A test was made from the time Baker heard the last shot until he met Oswald on the second floor was 75 seconds. For Oswald to shoot from the
sixth floor, hide a rifle and go down the stairs to the second floor in 75 seconds was impossible. This information is paraphrased from a book written by James Tague who was wounded by a stray bullet when JFK was killed.

Standing For The Truth

When Jesus was on trial, Pilate asked him, “What is truth?” (John 18:38). Can we know what is true and what is false? When we look at God’s word, the Bible, we can know what the truth is. The Lord said to those Jews which believed on him, “If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free” (John 8:31-32). Again the Lord said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me” (John 14:6). In Jesus’ prayer to the Father, he said, “Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth” (John 17:17). How important is the truth? Solomon wrote, “Buy the truth, and sell it not” (Proverbs 23:23). The truth from God’s
word is the single most important thing that we can possess. It enables us to KNOW, that “we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive” (Ephesians 4:14). Paul wrote, “let God be true, but every man a liar” (Romans 3:4). The truth protects us from false notions, false doctrines, deception and death. Paul wrote that we are have our weaknesses “girt about with truth” (Ephesians 6:14). He also declared the gospel, which he said, “I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins ac-
cording to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures” (1 Corinthians 15:1-4). Christians are reminded of the time “when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels, In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power; When he shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be admired in all them that believe (because our testimony among you was believed) in that day” (1 Thessalonians 1:7-10). Believe the Truth. Obey the Truth. Are we standing for the truth? Are we standing up for things that are right? We are told to “stand fast in the faith” (1 Corinthians 16:13).

“At Our Lowest of Lows, There Is Help” Hello everyone! My focus this week is on Psalm 143. This Psalm is a prayer of David. One thing I notice when studying this passage, is that we all have in common what David is going through. First, we see the passion that David has for wanting the Lord to hear his request for help. This is the passion that we ought to have as Christians. Next, we see the persecution that he is facing from his enemies. There are times when we, as believers, will face persecution in our lives for what we believe. Fortunately we know, just as David knew, that the Lord is always there to help us, even when we are at our lowest of lows. He has promised to never leave us, nor forsake us. What a
wonder promise that is! Lastly, we see the petition that David is making for help. He declares his trust in the Lord, and he is seeking out not just mercy from God, but also God’s will for his life. As I have said before, our problem, as a nation, is that we have not been declaring our trust in God, as David is in this passage. We know that we can bring our burdens to the Lord, and that He is willing and able to help us. One of the most well-known hymn writers of all time is Charles Wesley (1707-1788). Here is a hymn that he wrote that fits perfectly with this passage. “Father, I stretch my hands to Thee; No other help I know. If Thou withdraw Thyself from me, Oh! whither shall
I go? What did Thine only Son endure, Before I drew my breath! What pain, what labor to secure My soul from endless death! Surely Thou canst not let me die; Oh, speak and I shall live; And here I will unwearied lie, Till Thou Thy Spirit give. Author of faith! to Thee I lift My weary, longing eyes;Oh, let me now receive that gift! JIMMY DOYLE ROBERTS
A memorial service for Jimmy Doyle Roberts will be held Saturday, December 2 at 2 pm at Wise Funeral Home Chapel. Jimmy passed away peacefully on November 20, 2023 at his residence in Bonham, Texas. He was born on February 23, 1963 in Dallas, Texas to Freddy Roberts and Ernestine McCraw. Jimmy graduated from Dodd City before living in Dallas and then moved to Seattle, Washington where he mastered the art of bartending. His 20 years in Seattle, he lived life on his own terms and lived every day to the fullest. He was an avid traveler enjoying sights across the country and to Peru with multiple visits to Hawaii. He was a loyal volunteer and a great collector of all things. Jimmy is survived by sister Rita Kirkpatrick and husband Paul of Dodd City, Texas; brother Leslie Roberts and wife Celeste of Bonham, Texas; brother Justin Roberts and wife Jammi of Honey Grove, Texas. He is also survived by nieces and nephews: Nathan Kirkpatrick and wife Tina; Jessica Taylor and husband Lance; Cayleb Roberts and Lorelei Roberts; Tyler Roberts and Aubrey Roberts; aunts and uncles Nancy and Wayne Barber, James Brown, Billy Ray Brown, and Billy Roberts and wife Sue; and several cousins.

DALE ANTHONY BORDELON Loved by Many and Loved All! Dale Anthony Bordelon, 71, of Dodd City, Texas, passed away on November 13, 2023. He was born on April 12, 1952, in San Diego, California, to the late Noland Bordelon and Margret Norris. Dale proudly served in the United States Marine Corps from 1970 to 1976 and was stationed in Benoi, Vietnam, where he worked as an avionics electrician. After his military service, Dale pursued a diverse career as an entrepreneur. He worked as a mortician at Hixon Brothers Funeral Home in Monroe, Louisiana, before becoming an airline pilot for ASA. Later, he served as the CEO of Marble Life. Dale’s dedication and hard work made a significant impact in his various roles. Dale left this world with two devoted children, Dakota Beaver and Savannah Bordelon and a loving co-parent, Virginia Beaver. He is also survived by his sisters, Melanie Nelson, Denise Wood, and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother Margret Norris, father Noland Bordelon, son Gaston Bordelon, and brothers Larry Bordelon and Gary Bordelon. Dale attended Evergreen Elementary for his primary education and later graduated from Tioga Highschool. He furthered his education at McNeese State University in Lake Charles. Dale found solace and community at Dallas Friends Meeting, where he worshiped with fellow members of the Quaker Cloud. His spirituality was an important aspect of his life. A service and potluck to honor Dale’s life was held on November 28th, Tuesday, at 10:00 am at King’s Trail Cowboy Church in Whitewright, Texas. Following the service, friends and family were invited to share memories and support one another during the potluck. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Fannin County Children’s Center or the Fannin Behavioral Health Leadership Team in memory of Dale Bordelon. The compassionate staff at King’s Trail Cowboy Church in Whitewright, TX, assisted the family with the memorial arrangements. There are also future plans to do a life celebration party and crawfish boil in April, 2024.

NOTICE OF REQUIREMENT TO COMPLY WITH THE SUBDIVISION SERVICE EXTENSION POLICY OF DESERT WATER SUPPLY CORPORATION Pursuant to Section 13.2502 of the Texas Water Code, Desert Water Supply Corporation (WSC) hereby gives notice that any person who subdivides land or requests more than two water service connections on a single contiguous tract of land within the retail public 11/28/23 water utility service area (“service area”) of Desert WSC must comply with the Developer, Subdivision, and Non-standard Service Requirements (the “Subdivision Policy”) contained in Desert WSC’s duly adopted Tariff. The service area of Desert WSC covers parts of Collin County, Fannin County and Grayson County, Texas, and is more particularly described in Certificate of Convenience and Necessity No. 10158 issued by the Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUC) or one of its predecessor agencies. The phrase “subdivides land” includes the division or re-division of any tract of land into two or more tracts or lots for which a plat is required or for which a plat will be recorded pursuant to either Chapter 212 of the Local Government Code or the duly adopted plat and subdivision regulations of any county or municipality with jurisdiction. Desert WSC is not required to extend retail water utility service to a service applicant in a subdivision when the developer of the subdivision fails to comply with the Subdivision Policy. Among other requirements, the Subdivision Policy requires the developer of a subdivision in Desert WSC’s service area to: — complete a non-standard service application; — submit an approved final plat showing the property to be served; — pay a Service Investigation Fee; and — enter into a non-standard service contract with Desert WSC. Depending on the level and type of service requested by a developer, the Subdivision Policy may impose additional requirements including: — service inspection and evaluation by Desert WSC’s engineer of service needs and impact a proposed subdivision and service extension will have on Desert WSC’s water system; — payment of fees for reserving water supply capacity; — forfeiture of reserved water supply capacity for failure to pay applicable fees; — payment of costs for constructing improvements to Desert WSC’s water system that are necessary to provide the water or service requested for a subdivision; — construction of water transmission facilities and other improvements within the subdivision according to Desert WSC approved plans and specifications; and — conveyance and/or dedication of water system improvements to Desert WSC by the developer following inspection and approval by Desert WSC. Be advised that certain tracts of land in Desert WSC’s service area may be subject to water system improvement construction cost reimbursement agreements. Proctor, a Dodd City surgeon and others performed an amazing surgery on Alva Moore. Dr. Procotor was here about five years then moved to Sulphur Springs.

Dr. Amos W Short like most of the doctors were very ambitious. He finished 2nd in his class at Nashville, TN. Following medical college, he moved to Texas and settled near the Onstott survey NE of Dodd City. In addition to his practice, he started his own town called Shortsberg, Texas; owned the biggest molasses mill in Fannin County. He was a cotton buyer; owned a Confectionery/Soda Fountain as well as the Bonham Bottling Works. He sold the bottling plant in 1913 per the clips below. He practiced medicine in Paris, Bonham and was in Dodd City from 1900 to 1906, following his death he was buried in the Dodd City cemetery*.
