concerning this project and the updates published in a future edition of the Fannin County Leader. 14. Comments by County Commissioners and County Judge. Commissioner Self: Thanked NTMWD for the updates of the Riverby Ranch Mitigation. Commissioner Magness: Thanked Matt Stahman for the presentation of the Riverby Ranch Mitigation. He reflected on the past history of the ranch since he has grown up in that area. Commissioner Lackey: Also thanked Matt for the Riverby Ranch presentation; CR 3700 is now open; reminded county employees that the county banquet is at 11:30 am on December 20 at First Baptist Church. Judge Moore: 1) He met with a group that wants to build a new station similar to a RaceTrac at the corner of Hwy. 121 and Hwy. 11. One of the things that is holding up this project is water. We do not have enough water to support the business. Randolph might, but there will have to be some adjustments. Even with two new lakes coming in, our deficit is water in this county because it’s not raw water, its potable water. We have to work on some means in which we can get water to these places in the county especially down the Hwy. 121 area with all the new growth that is expected in the future. 2) Beth Wisenbaker, who was a commissioner for Hopkins County and was in charge of restoring Hopkins County Courthouse, came and toured the courthouse. She was thrilled to see our courthouse and the changes that are taking place. She stated it will be exciting to watch it grow. 3) Texas A&M AgriLife is having a car seat checkup event on Thursday, December 12th from 9 am to 12 pm at the Bailey Inglish back parking lot. Certified passenger safety technicians will provide a free inspection and may be able to provide a free car seat or booster if you are in need. 4) Welcomed Amanda Watkins as a permanent full time employee of the county beginning January 1, 2020. 5) We are going to try to keep the public informed as much as possible about all these new changes that are happing. If you have any questions, please contact us. 19. Adjourn. 10:12 am Fannin County Commissioner Court Meetings are held every Tuesday at 9:00 am at Bonham City Hall. The public is invited to attend.

From my LiFe to yours: 5/2/17 The Presence of the Peacemaker
By Bro. Bill Beasley “I am leaving you with a gift…peace of mind and heart! And the peace I give isn’t fragile like the world gives. So don’t be troubled or afraid.” (Living Bible) John 14:27 This past Saturday was Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day. As you recall, it marks
the beginning of another national conflict in which our nation has been engaged in her centuries of history. It was not the first…nor was it the last. We have not had one that ended all wars. December 7, 1941 records the attack by Japan’s Air Force on Honolulu. The bombing occurred on Sunday. As I mentioned, in my column last week, I had attended the morning worship hour. Upon returning home, I learned the frightful news. The return to the evening service found the sanctuary filled with hurting and scared people. We gladly sought God’s help. God heard
America’s cry. That was 74 years ago. This is my thought for today. Peace is a rare commodity in today’s world. Our day is filled with broken homes, international conflict, terror attacks, widespread cancer and rising economic pressure. There is a feeling of unrest on every hand. We need to hear anew the words of the Master Peacemaker. In our scripture, He has encouraged His disciples to take heart. (John 14:27) We can be strengthened by where He is, by who He is, and what He is doing. We can trust Him to be our Helper. It has been written,
trucks, trains, dolls and much more. The Museum is open Tuesday-Saturday, noon - 4 pm and is located in Bonham
in the old Texas & Pacific train depot just a few blocks south of the Courthouse square.

The Pictorial History of Fannin County contains many photographs of places all over the county. Bonham, Town of Bailey Inglish is a very readable history with delightful illustrations. Both books are available at the Fannin County Museum of History and at the Visitors Center in Bonham for $20 each. They are also available on Amazon. And your purchase of these books supports the Museum. The Museum is open noon - 4 pm, Tuesday - Saturday, and is located just a few blocks south of the Courthouse Square in Bonham on Main Street.

It’s just not Christmas unless I put in a Christmas cookie recipe. Back in the late 1960s, a lady I knew made these every Christmas, and they were so good. I kept her recipe, so now I can share it with you! CHERRY WINKS
Preheat oven to 375°. Stir together flour, baking powder and salt. Set aside. In large mixing bowl, beat margarine and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs. Beat well. Stir in milk and vanilla. Add flour mixture. Mix until well combined. Stir in nuts, dates and chopped cherries. Using level measuring=tablespoon, shape dough into balls. Roll in crushed corn flakes cereal. Place about 2 inches apart on greased baking sheets. Top each with cherry quarter. Bake for about 10 minutes, until lightly browned. Remove immediately from baking sheets. Cool on wire racks. Makes about 5 dozen. Please send me your favorite or unique recipes to 300 E. Russell Ave., Bonham, TX 75418, or take them by the Leader’s office at 224 N. Main St. in Bonham.

Opening Partners Campaign 12/10/19 12/3/19
By Tina Moore
Prayer at Open Arms
Open Arms Shelter
The remodel of the building for Open Arms Homeless Shelter will soon be finished. The work that has been completed is due to the wonderful support from our community. Open Arms has been blessed with many donations of time, money, and goods. A special thanks to those who have helped get the shelter ready to open is in the plans. First, all who have contributed $500 or more will be recognized with their names on a plaque to be displayed at the shelter. The levels of recognition are as follows: Silver Partner – Donations of $500 to $999 Gold Partner – Donations of $1,000 to $4, 999 Platinum Partner – Donations of $5,000 to $9,999 Diamond Partner – Donations of $10,000 and more The level of giving is based on total giving to Open Arms Shelter from 2015 until December 31, 2019. Second, a private appreciation event is planned in January for all the Opening Partners. Thanks so much for helping make it possible to help the homeless in Fannin County. You still have the
opportunity to be a part of our Opening Partners Campaign. Donations may be made through our website: www. oashelter.com or mailed to P.O. Box 234, Bonham, TX 75418. You are also invited to a Kitchen/Linen Shower for the shelter on December 29th. Registry is available at Amazon, Target, and WalMart. See website for details.

HOPE FOR CHRISTMAS in Fannin County NEEDS YOUR HELP
Press Release Fannin County Family Crisis Center is once again providing Hope for Christmas for the Fannin County Community. We need help from businesses, citizens, church groups and friends to make this possible. Last year we provided presents for over 365 children in Fannin County that otherwise would not have had a good Christmas. Some of the children served are our clients who may have had to leave a dangerous situation with nothing but the clothes they were wearing. Our sign up for families that need assistance is December 6th and 7th., but we need to begin collecting donations now to ensure that we will be able to meet the need. Families signing up will be required to verify that they live in Fannin County and that they qualify as a family in need. We also crosscheck with other agencies providing Christmas to ensure that we are not serving families that are signed up somewhere else. Unfortunately, Fannin County has a high poverty rate and there are many families that struggle to meet even their day to day needs. We would like to ensure that all children in Fannin County have a blessed Christmas. We encourage you to be a part of this blessing. How can you help? • Monetary donations – Monetary donations are easy. Go to the Fannin County Family Crisis Center’s web page https://fccrisiscenter.org/ and click on the donation tab at the top, where you can use PayPal or a credit/ debit card to donate. When you donate, there is a place to add a message. Please specify that your donation is for Hope for Christmas. Donations can also be mailed or brought to the Crisis Center at 118 East Sam Rayburn Drive, Bonham, TX 75418. Once again, please specify that your donation is for Hope for Christmas. • After families sign-up on December 6th and 7th, Church groups, businesses and others can come by the Crisis Center and adopt a family or as many families as you would like and provide Christmas gifts directly to the family. It takes a village to help this many children. Last year several local businesses and individuals very generously donated to this amazing event, including Clayton Homes employees and corporate office. Each family was designated a certain amount per child to spend and were able to hand pick presents at Wal-Mart while the Crisis Center staff and volunteers were present to oversee and pay for each transaction. Please come be a part of the village this special holiday season. If you have any questions, please call 903-583-7694. Follow us on Facebook (Fannin Crisis Center) to see the latest updates.

Oakwood Cemetery News
By Deidra Jackson Oakwood Cemetery in Honey Grove is very proud of the new American flag donated by Kari Perkins on behalf of the National Banner Company located in Honey Grove. This flag flies daily in the beautiful memo-
rial area located in the center of the cemetery. This area was the original site of a memorial chapel erected in 1907-8 which was destroyed by a fallen tree in 1986. Two new headstones have been set recently. If your family member is buried at Oak-
wood, please consider obtaining a headstone for their grave space. The rye grass seed planted recently is coming up nicely to cover an area of shade that erodes as a result of heavy rainfall. The grass seed and fertilizer were donated by Robert Moreland.

the Class 1A all-state team, after helping Dodd City repeat as the District 12-2A champion and make a second-straight advance to the Region II-1A quarterfinals. Junior Abby Wilson has been selected as
an alternate on the TGCA 1A4A All-Star red team, which will compete at the organization’s convention in July in Arlington. Wilson helped Leonard reach its fifth-consecutive and overall bi-district appearance.
No Fannin County schools will change classifications in the 2020 biennial realignment by the University Interscholastic League. However, Average Daily Membership increases and decreases at other schools currently aligned into football districts with Fannin schools will lead to changes when new districts are announced on Feb. 3. The UIL posted online the new cutoffs -- maximum and minimum ADMs -- for the six classifications on Dec. 3. Class 3A will include ADMs from 230-514, 2A will be 105229 and 1A will have 104.9 or less. Bonham (499) will remain in 3A overall and 3A-I (350514) for football, but will lose a couple of current district opponents in the latter. Van Alstyne will move into 4A overall and 4A-II for football after submitting a 517
ADM on Snapshot Day on Oct. 28 -- only three more than the new maximum to stay in 3A. Conversely, Lone Oak will remain in 3A, but drop into 3AII (230-349) for football after submitting a 324 ADM -- 26 less than the 3A-I minimum. Meanwhile, Howe (356) narrowly stayed in 3A-I football. With the drop, Lone Oak could join Leonard in a 3A-II football district. The two would be familiar with one another, having served as pre-season football opponents the last few years. With Cooper, a current member of 9-3A-II football with Leonard, dropping to 2A-I football in the new alignment after submitting a 228 ADM, Lone Oak could fill the Bulldogs’ spot. Cooper’s drop could additionally lead to a reunion in a 2A-I football district (165.5-229) with Honey Grove -- a longtime district rival in all sports before ADM changes separated the two into different classifi-
cations. Cooper would also fill the void to be left by Quinlan Boles, a current member with Honey Grove (213) in 6-2A-I football. Boles submitted a 165 ADM -- slipping into 2A-II (105-165.4). Trenton (207) will lose 5-2AI football rival Valley View (247) which will move into 3A-II. Tioga (187), which will move into 2A-I football, could fill that opening, Collinsville, also of 5-2A-I, narrowly stayed in 2A-I football with a 166 ADM. Elsewhere, Savoy (87) will remain in 1A-I (104.9-59.5) and Fannindel (38) will stay in 1A-II (59.4 or less) for football. Each could also stay in the same 1A football districts in the new alignment, as no current members will leave the classification or change divisions within it. Newcastle of 9-1A-I with Savoy came the closest to changing with a 60 ADM -- 0.6 from dropping into 1A-II.
lections included seniors Jake Caffee at running back and Nate Allen and Roberto Vasquez as offensive linemen. Additional first-team defensive recipients were seniors Chandler Williams at tackle and Kenny
Campbell at end Second-team selections included senior Colby Connelly at wide receiver and defensive back, sophomore Jayden Wilson as an offensive lineman and senior Brock Braley as a linebacker.
