Fannin County Biblical Round Table Recap

was the first of what I hope will be many biblical round table meetings to come. We want to first thank the round table participants. John McCullough, Ken Yates, Jeff Young and Seve Elkins. To say they were prepared would be a gross understatement.

All the round table guests defended the “inerrancy of the scriptures “in a way that gives us the confidence to biblically and historically defend the “Good News”. We also want to thank the

round table guests. There were 29 round table guests, men and woman. Remember all are welcome both men, women and young people. Next round table topic is tentatively set to be over 3 or 4 related scriptures in the book of John. On that note if you have a suggestion on a topic or a round table participant be sure and email me or call me. We will have more Q and A at the next round table. We had to vacate the building a little early last time to let them set up for an

event on Friday. There are many things we can glean and ponder about the knowledge we

received at the the last round table. But none of the things are more important than for us as believers to dig in the individual scriptures of the Bible itself. Pick from the top 3 or 4 translations and start your digging.

Remember, all suggestions, criticisms, and possible participants will be greatly appreciated.

This new rendition of a Reuben is amazing. It makes my mouth water just thinking about it. Toasted sliced sourdough, corned beef, fancy mustard, and shredded cabbage in a light vinaigrette make this sandwich to die for (not just on Saint Paddy's).

SAINT PADDY'S IRISH SANDWICH

1 (3 lb.) corned beef brisket with spice packet

2 Tbsp. olive oil

1 Tbsp. balsamic vinegar

1 Tbsp. spicy brown mustard

½ tsp. salt

½ tsp. ground black pepper

½ medium head cabbage, cored and sliced thin spicy brown mustard

12 slices sourdough bread,

lightly toasted

Place corned beef in large pot or Dutch oven and cover with water. Add the spice packet that came with the corned beef. Cover pot and bring to a boil, then reduce to a simmer. Simmer approximately 50 minutes per pound until tender. Remove meat and let rest 15 minutes. Slice meat across the grain.

Whisk together olive oil, balsamic vinegar, mustard, salt, and pepper in small bowl. Place the shredded cabbage in a large bowl and pour the dressing over it; toss to coat the cabbage with the dressing. Spread a layer of mustard on the 6 slices of toasted bread. Place some shredded cabbage and corned beef on each slice and top with remaining slices of bread. This recipe does not call for cheese, but add cheese if you want!

I hope you will give this one a try on Saint Patrick's Day. ENJOY!!!

Jesus In Creation

12-18-18

When our society thinks of Jesus, in a positive way, it is usually “baby Jesus in a manger” or “Jesus on the Cross”. We, as a society, rarely think of Jesus in the creation of the universe, yet there He is. John recorded that “All things were made by him; and without him was not anything made that was made” (John 1:3). God created all things by Jesus. Paul relates to us that the preaching of the gospel to “make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ” (Ephesians 3:9). David penned that “By the word of the LORD were the heavens

made; and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth” (Psalms 33:6). The message of Hebrews is that God “Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds” (Hebrews 1:2).

Each person exists by Jesus. Paul reveals that “there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him” (1 Corinthians 8:6). The church at Rome heard the message of Jesus, that “of him, and through him, and to him, are all things” (Romans 11:36).

The church exists by Jesus. The church, not an afterthought, but the power of Christ. Jesus, before the cross, promised “upon this rock I will build my church; and the

gates of hades shall not prevail against it” (Matthew 16:18).

Paul speaks of the church’s existence, by writing that God “Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son: In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins: Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature: For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him” (Colossians 1:1316). Paul states that “Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body” (Ephesians 5:23). Consider Jesus in creations; God creating by Jesus, each person existing by Jesus, and the church built and saved by Jesus.

Sunday Morning Re-Wind “Little Is Much”

Hello everyone!

The Bible teaches us in Psalm 37:16, “A little that a righteous man hath is better than the riches of many wicked.”

I got the inspiration to write this from a devotion that I recently read. In this passage, David is discussing the difference between the righteous and the wicked. Even though the evil seem to prosper, and are against the righteous in every way, we know that the righteous can always trust in the Lord to meet their needs. At times we may not have that much,

The Torah

The Hebrew name for Deuteronomy is “Devarim” meaning “words/things,” taken from 1:1, “These are the words...” This Book tells us who the Messiah IS and who He ISN’T. In 18:15-19 we see who He IS: The person speaking here is God, and He says in verse 15, “The LORD will raise up a Prophet like ME (God,)” and then He says in verse 18, “I will raise up a Prophet like YOU (Moses.)”

At Sinai (Horeb), we told God (verse 16 in the Hebrew), “Let me not hear again alef-tahv’s voice of the Lord my God....”

but when we use what we do have, whether it is our talents, money, or whatever the case may be, to honor God, that is certainly greater than than the abundance of the wicked.

When I read this verse, I couldn’t help but think of this classic hymn that was written by Kittie L. Suffield in 1924.

“In the harvest field now ripened There’s a work for all to do; Hark! the voice of God is calling To the harvest calling you. Does the place you’re called to labor Seem too small and little

We asked Him (the aleftahv...Greek alpha-omega) to send someone down from the Mountain to speak kindly to us. So He sent Moses. God knew we’d quickly fall away, so here He promises to send someone who speaks both like Moses AND God. So He comes as Jesus (Yeshua) teaching the Torah like Moses, yet with much greater authority.

Conversely, chapter 13 tells us who the Messiah ISN’T.

The Messiah will NOT speak contrary to what Moses spoke. Take special note of the Hebrew in verses 3-4 “.... for alef-tahv (alpha-omega) the LORD your God is testing you...You shall walk after the

known? It is great if God is in it, And He’ll not forget His own. Little is much when God is in it, Labor not for wealth or fame; There’s a crown, and you can win it, If you go in Jesus’ name.”

If you’re looking for a good church home, we invite you to come visit and be a part of our worship at Central Baptist Church. Visitors are our honored guests, and we hope to see you this coming Sunday!

LORD...and keep alef-tahv’s commandments....you shall serve alef-tahv and cling to Him.”

30:11-19 says, “This Law isn’t mysterious, far away, or beyond the sea.... Today I set before you either life or death, blessing or cursing. Therefore choose life...That you love alef-tahv the Lord your God, to walk in His ways, and keep His commandments, statutes and judgments, that you may live.”

“If you love Me, obey My commandments” (John 14:15.) “For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”

(Matt 11:30.)

The Word Of God As Our Guide

We are living in a culture that has lost its way. At the very core of this problem is the fact that our culture has cast aside the Word of God. It was not that long ago when our country was still considered a “Judeo-Christian” society. This meant that our values and morals were derived from the Bible. Sadly, those days seem to be long gone. The Bible is now mocked and thought of as irrelevant and antiquated. In my estimation, there has never been a time when the Bible was more available yet read and studied less.

However, count me as one that is still praying for a true, Spirit-filled, national revival and spiritual awakening. If God by His grace and mercy were to cause that to happen, it would mean a return to the Word of God as our guide. When revival comes, people fall in love with the Word of God.

As a church, it has become part of our DNA to seek to be a Berean, who “receives the Word with all readiness, and searches the Scriptures daily to find out whether these things are so.” (Acts 17:11, paraphrased)

11. Approve or deny to grandfather in an eight slot Recreational Vehicle Park expansion, Wilson Way Refuge RV Park; Property ID#s 99385 and 23998 on Highway 78 in Trenton, Precinct 2 – Development Services Director: Owner of Wilson Way Refuge RV Park, Toby Wilson and his father Dwight Wilson addressed the court to present their petition for approval of the request for the addition of eight RV slots to the park. Before their presentation Judge Cunningham noted that the Fannin County Subdivision Committee had recommended this request not be approved. Fannin County Development Services Director Di Hopkins gave a report of the situation that included the notation of a complaint having been received regarding a failing septic system on the property and the response to correct the situation by the owner. After a lengthy presentation by Mr. Wilson and his father as to why they believed the county should allow the approval of their expansion, Judge Cunningham empathized with their plight and noted that whereas he would be okay with an expansion after non-compliant issues were brought up to code, rules need to be applied equally across the board in order that the goal of quality development is accomplished for the county. Fishin’

Report TAKE A KID FISHING or Hunting!

Week of March 6, 2024

Cooper GOOD. Water clear; 60 degrees: 1.00 feet below pool. Blue and channel catfish are biting cut shad in the timber.

Fork GOOD. Water Stained; 61 degrees; 0.28 feet below pool. Bass are active on a variety of baits after this warm spell. Shallow water is very good in 1-3 feet on chatterbaits, Ocho type baits, and Strike King 1.5 wake baits. Offshore bite is best in 5-7 feet near or in drains and ditches with jerkbaits and medium running crankbaits. Texas rigs and Viper XP jigs working at the edge of grass and some wood mostly lay downs in 2-6 feet of water. Report by Marc Mitchell, Lake Fork Guide Service. Bass are in the shallows working streamers are working in 1-8 feet. Clousers should produce good results around structure. Crappie will be moving towards the banks, small patterns like wooly buggers are a good bet. Bream will also move to warmer water, a wooly bugger would be a good choice.

Lavon GOOD. Water lightly stained; 55 degrees; 0.32 feet below pool. Fishing patterns are holding steady, but this should change next week after the forecasted rain. It should be amazing fishing after the creek clears, but for that to happen, the water level would have to come up 2 to 4 feet or more, for a couple hours. That will get a bunch of white bass spread out through the creek system in higher numbers. Crappie seem to be moving north, so watch for spawning activity. Starting to see some in 18-20 feet of water on structures. A few roamers out in 15 feet. So basically, they are scattered around the lake. Ray Roberts FAIR. Water slightly stained; 55 degrees; 0.43 feet below pool. Catfish are good in 2-7 feet of water near creek channels and or timber lines cut shad. White bass have been good in the main lake in 45-55 feet of water on slabs. Many reports of crappie and white bass catches in the creeks. Report by Justin Wilson, Wilson Outdoor Connection. Tawakoni GOOD. Water lightly stained; 52 degrees; 0.25 feet above pool. The hybrid striper and white bass are being caught on plastics and swim baits in 20-35 feet. The trophy catfish are good on fresh cut shad and cut bait in 10-25 feet. Both drifting and anchoring are working equally well. The largest fish we landed this week was 60 pounds. The eating sized smaller catfish are also becoming active and can be targeted in shallow water on very small pieces of cut shad. Look for these fish in 2-10 feet of water on wind blown points. The crappie are good right now. They are in transition and we are starting to see them move up out of deep water and into the mid depths and semi-shallow water. Minnows and jigs are working equally good. The largemouth bass bite has also turned on. Anglers are catching fish on rip-rap and shallow docks on soft plastics like brush hogs and small flukes in 2-6 feet. Report by Captain Michael Littlejohn, Lake Tawakoni Guide Service.

Texoma GOOD. Water normal stain; 50 degrees; 1.30 feet below pool. Striped bass are good drifting gizzard shad in 2535 feet of water along flats and ledges. Locating small groups of pre-spawn females, not looking for large schools of fish. Crappie are slow around the boathouses and on brush piles in 12-15 feet of water. Look for fish to be in the creeks and on shallow structures. Largemouth and smallmouth bass are fair on plastics down the bluffs as the sm begin to bed around the gravel flats and in backs of coves. Largemouth are still on stumps in 5-10 feet of water on swimbaits. Catfish are slow on cut gizzard shad and prepared baits. Points and humps 25-35 feet of water will hold bigger fish, smaller fish are 40-50 feet of water full of shad that are slow moving in the deep water.

11-Year-Old Shatters Junior Angler Waterbody Largemouth Bass Record, Joins Father on Books

March 8, 2024 TPWD News

ATHENS – Stetson Davis, an 11-year-old angler from Tuttle, Okla., landed 13.31-pound ShareLunker 661 on Wednesday, topping the junior angler waterbody record for large-

mouth bass by more than five pounds.

This marked the second Legacy Class ShareLunker largemouth bass delivered by J.B. Thomas Reservoir and the 11th overall of the 2024

10/5/21

Toyota ShareLunker collection season.

Davis surged past the previous J.B. Thomas junior angler record of 7.96 pounds, set April 11, 2020, and joined his father, Brodey, in the record books.

Brodey Davis submitted the seventh biggest largemouth bass in Texas history in 2022, when he landed 17.06-pound ShareLunker 620 at O.H. Ivie. His catch is the current O.H. Ivie waterbody record and the largest in the past 32 years since Barry St. Clair of Klondike, TX recorded the state record of 18.18 -pounds in 1992.

“We are excited to recognize Stetson’s accomplishments through the Toyota ShareLunker Program and Angler Recognition Program,” said Natalie Goldstrohm, Toyota ShareLunker program coordinator. “Getting young people hooked on fishing through these programs is important to creating a lifelong love of the sport.”

The father and son made their trip to Texas on Tuesday and woke up early Wednesday morning to get on the water at J.B. Thomas. The goal was to catch his first double digit largemouth bass and it happened to be a Legacy Class ShareLunker.

“We didn’t have much luck at the start but around 9:20 a.m. we spotted her,” said Stetson Davis. “I made multiple casts

her way, but she wouldn’t bite, and it was a little frustrating. I finally placed the bait close enough to where she saw and then she bit. I set the hook and instantly my dad went to go and grab the net. When the fish came to the surface, we knew it was a double digit. It was a fairly quick fight, and we were able to secure it in the net and get it into the boat.”

Stetson was with his father two years ago when the elder Davis caught O.H. Ivie’s lakerecord ShareLunker 620. On Wednesday, he had the opportunity to experience it with his very own fish.

“We were just looking for a 10-pounder and ended up catching a ShareLunker and the junior lake record,” added Stetson Davis. “It was really fun to bring the fish over and put it on the ShareLunker scale and to see it say 13.31-pounds. I was pretty excited that I caught a ShareLunker at 11-years old.”

It was a memorable day with the ShareLunker program for both Stetson and Brodey.

“As usual TPWD and ShareLunker program staff were awesome,” said Brodey Davis. “They were extremely helpful throughout the process and every one of them were really excited for him, so it made the experience even more special.”

Lawrence Lee of Temple reeled in ShareLunker 651 on Jan. 17 to kick off the 2024 collection season and became the first ever Legacy Class fish from J.B. Thomas. It registered 13.79 pounds, measured 24.25 inches and set a new waterbody record for largemouth bass.

Prior to this season, J.B. Thomas had 15 entries into the year-round program since 2021, including one Legend Class fish caught Sept. 1, 2023. During the first two-plus months of 2024, J.B. Thomas has produced two Legacy Class Lunkers and five Strike King Elite Class Lunkers.

During the first three months of the season (Jan. 1-March 31), anglers who reel in a 13plus pound bass can loan it to TPWD for the ShareLunker selective breeding and stocking program. These anglers can call the ShareLunker hotline at (903) 681-0550 to report their catch 24/7 through March 31. visit facebook.com/sharelunkerprogram/, https://www. instagram.com/TexasShareLunker/ or TexasSharelunker. com.

The application will be available for viewing and copying at the TCEQ central office, the TCEQ Dallas/Fort Worth regional office, and the Bonham Public Library, 305 East 5th Street, Bonham, Fannin County, Texas beginning the first day of publication of this notice. The facility’s compliance file, if any exists, is available for public review in the Dallas/Fort Worth regional office of the TCEQ.

The executive director has determined the application is administratively complete and will conduct a technical review of the application.

PUBLIC COMMENT. You may submit public comments to the Office of the Chief Clerk at the address below. The TCEQ will consider all public comments in developing a final decision on the application and the executive director will prepare a response to those comments.

PUBLIC MEETING. You may request a public meeting to the Office of the Chief Clerk at the address below. The purpose of a public meeting is to provide the opportunity to submit comments or ask questions about the application. A public meeting about the application will be held if requested by an interested person and the executive director determines that there is a significant degree of public interest in the application or if requested by a local legislator. A public meeting is not a contested case hearing.

After technical review of the application is complete, the executive director may prepare a draft permit and will issue a preliminary decision on the application. If a draft Air Quality Permit is prepared, a Notice of Application and Preliminary Decision is required and it will then be published and mailed to those who made comments, submitted hearing requests or are on the mailing list for this application and will contain the final deadline for submitting public comments.

OPPORTUNITY FOR A CONTESTED CASE HEARING You may request a contested case hearing if you are a person who may be affected by emissions of air contaminants from the facility. If requesting a contested case hearing, you must submit the following: (1) your name (or for a group or association, an official representative), mailing address, and daytime phone number; (2) applicant’s name and permit number; (3) the statement “[I/we] request a contested case hearing”; (4) a specific description of how you would be adversely affected by the application and air emissions from the facility in a way not common to the general public; (5) the location and distance of your property relative to the facility; (6) a description of how you use the property which may be impacted by the facility; and (7) a list of all disputed issues of fact that you submit during the comment period. If the request is made by a group or an association, one or more members who have standing to request a hearing must be identified by name and physical address. The interests the group or association seeks to protect must also be identified. You may also submit your proposed adjustments to the application/permit which would satisfy your concerns.

The deadline to submit a request for a contested case hearing is 30 days after newspaper notice is published. If a request is timely filed, the deadline for requesting a contested case hearing will be extended to 30 days after the mailing of the response to comments.

If a hearing request is timely filed, following the close of all applicable comment and request periods, the Executive Director will forward the application and any requests for contested case hearing to the Commissioners for their consideration at a scheduled Commission meeting. The Commission may only grant a request for a contested case hearing on issues the requestor submitted in their timely comments that were not subsequently withdrawn. If a hearing is granted, the subject of a hearing will be limited to disputed issues of fact or mixed questions of fact and law relating to relevant and material air quality concerns submitted during the comment period. Issues such as property values, noise, traffic safety, and zoning are outside of the Commission’s jurisdiction to address in this proceeding.

MAILING LIST. In addition to submitting public comments, you may ask to be placed on a mailing list to receive future public notices for this specific application by sending a written request to the Office of the Chief Clerk at the address below.

AGENCY CONTACTS AND INFORMATION. Public comments and requests must be submitted either electronically at www14.tceq.texas.gov/epic/eComment/, or in writing to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, Office of the Chief Clerk, MC-105, P.O.
