1939, in Superior, Arizona to Ethel Marie Clarke & Michael Zubia Guerra. Her given name was Elizabeth Ann Guerra (she would legally change her name in the 50’s due to negative feelings towards her father and to avoid the then common racist attitudes towards Latinas.) The first of four children born to Ethel and Mike, she was treated more like a boy than a girl by a father who had wanted a son and was prone to abusive behavior towards his wife and child. Feeling a responsibility as the older sister to her younger siblings, she would often stand in the way of their receiving beatings from their father causing his wrath to fall upon her instead. Her friends informed me how Dana had an unusually high IQ, total recall, a photographic memory, perfect musical pitch and excellent athletic ability. Due to her mental capabilities, she was recruited at a young age by a “special company” that

The Other Crosses

By Bro. Bill Beasley

In Memorium Original Publish Date: April, 15, 2014

Luke 23:33

“…… and, the criminals, one on the right hand and the other on the left.” As we focus our attention this week on the criminals being crucified to the right and to the left of Jesus at Calvary, we can learn some very valuable lessons. Last week we saw Jesus as the atoning Lamb. The death He died was for the sins of the world. He is the only way to Salva-

tion. He died once for all people for all times. On the other hand words were spoken from Calvary that reveal that one of the criminals died with his sins unforgiven while the other acknowledged Jesus and was forgiven. Another way of stating it was one blasphemed Jesus and died in his sins. The other criminal blessed Jesus and begged for remembrance and died to his sins. Now let us listen to some very important words spoken by each victim. In Luke 23:39 one of the criminals blasphemed Jesus by saying “if you are the Christ, save yourself and us.” The word “if” suggests that he has not believed, nor was he believing then. He is dying in his sins. Luke 23:41, 42 the other criminal said “this man Jesus has done nothing wrong. He

then confesses his sins and speaks to Jesus saying “Lord, remember me when you come into your Kingdom.” Jesus’ response indicates that the criminal has died to his sins and has been forgiven. We hear Jesus say “Today you will be with me in Paradise.“ Where Jesus was going the penitent criminal was going also. Three Crosses! Three Victims! Three Spiritual Truths!! Jesus dies for the sins of the world. One criminal died forgiven and is with Jesus. The other criminal died with his sin unforgiven and is not with Jesus. What is your relationship to Jesus today?

American Hero Continued from page 1

After that dark period of her life, she settled in California and engaged in helping Special Needs children by becoming a Special Ed teacher in Los Angeles. It was a job she loved and was successful at until a child who had been deemed hostile and dangerous yet was allowed by an incompetent administration to be in a classroom situation, hit her from behind with a baseball bat. She was retired with a medical disability from that job but went on to re-enter the workforce as a practicing therapist after obtaining a PhD in Psychology at the age of sixty. Her talents included being an Olympiad in field hockey and being musically gifted. Described by her friend Gloria (who became acquainted with her during the time of her recovery after the POW ordeal) as having a beautiful

voice and being a piano virtuoso by the age of 15. She noted that Dana also played 6-string and 12-string guitar, percussion, violin and composed many songs. Gloria added that Dana was in demand as a performer, both in the Navy and after her Honorable Discharge. Jeralee, Joan, Gloria and another friend named Mary Ellen currently living in Wichita, Kansas together with Dana, called themselves “The Five Royals.” Having met each other through Gloria while having taken music lessons from her, the five ladies have been loyal friends to each other ranging from 30 to 50 years. They decided early in their friendships to have each other’s backs and to always be there for each other. Dana moved to Bonham in September of 2020 from Wichita Kansas to live with Jeralee after having been weakened by an illness that had caused her to be hospitalized. The hope was for her to recover while stay-

ing with her friend, but such would not be the case. After getting sicker and sicker, constant nursing became necessary and it was decided she would stay at Bonham Nursing Home until she could be transferred to Clyde Cosper. Dana had been at Clyde Cosper since July of 2021. Jeralee and Joan agreed with Gloria’s summation of their friend that: BG (her nickname for Dana) was one of the bravest and most resilient people I knew, a courageous warrior who did not know the meaning of the word “surrender” and had a kind heart. Having spoken with other old friends, Gloria noted that every single one mentioned her commitment to friendships…faithfulness…love. Dana was a member of the Remnant of Israel Church and believed Jesus protected her and was always with her, especially during the darkest times.

Celebrate Earth Day in the Rayburn Family Garden

By: Stacie Flood and Jennifer Parsley, Sam Rayburn House State Historic Site Are you looking for a way to give back this Earth Day? Join the Sam Rayburn House State Historic Site for a Gardening Day! While many know Sam Rayburn as the longest serving Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, here in Bonham he was simply Mr. Sam, a farmer

and rancher. At the Rayburn farm, Mr. Sam and his family raised animals and grew food to help sustain themselves. The Sam Rayburn House State Historic Site carries on this tradition of home-grown food. Each year we plant our garden full of the same vegetables the Rayburn family grew. But this is a huge undertaking, and we need your help! Join us on April 23rd at 9:00 am as we work on our Spring Garden. Get your hands dirty

as we weed, till, hoe, and ensure that our garden continues to thrive. Continue the rich legacy of working in the dirt at the Rayburn House and help grow something today! This event is perfect for individuals, families, and community groups looking to give back. For more information, or to sign up, call 903.583.5558 or visit: www.VisitSamRayburnHouse.com.

Is Celebrate Recovery For Me?

Celebrate Recovery offers a person the opportunity to participate in a group where love and hope combine with God’s purpose to mend our lives. Ask yourself: • Are there things in my life that I do to hurt others? • Is there something I wish I could live without? • Is there something in my life that has gotten out of control? • Do I have a habit or hang-up from which I need to be freed? 4. Discussion, consideration and action regarding the Lake Zoning Regulations text amendments, Nonconforming Uses and Structures, Section 3.06 and recommend to Commissioners Court for approval: Before discussing certain verbiage used in the text amendments that needed tweaking, Mr. Welch thanked Attorney Newt Cunningham and Di Hopkins for their work on the amendments. Mr. Welch then noted that he wanted the word residential inserted in the text to clarify that the amendments did not apply for commercial use instances. After other minor changes clarifying the intent of the amendments, a motion was made by Gary Fernandes to adopt the recommended changes and to recommend it to the County Commissioners Court for approval, the motion was seconded by Kevin Darwin and the motion passed. 5. Discussion, consideration and action regarding changes and/or modifications by landowners: Di Hopkins spoke to note that with everything that was discussed today, she would ask that a hearing be set today to hear the Special Exception for Scott Harridge so that he would not have to wait yet another month to get his situation taken care of. A motion was made by Gary Fernandes to set May 5th as the date for the Special Exception Public Hearing, seconded by Kevin Darwin and the motion passed. 6. Discussion, consideration and action to set next BDALZC meeting and/or hearing date(s): A motion was made by Kevin Darwin to set the next hearing and meeting date at 8:20 & 8:30 a.m. on May 5th. The motion was seconded by Gary Fernandes and passed. 7. Adjourn: Motion was made, seconded and passed to adjourn at 9:15 p.m.

process is multi-step and feels a simpler procedure would be really helpful for those like himself who are facing unique circumstances. Much discussion ensued about his situation, with a comment being made by Attorney Newt Cunningham that if a circumstance like this becomes a repeated issue, the Commission would probably want to look at amending the verbiage regarding the setback rules, but if it appears his situation is unique and a rare occurrence, then it should be handled on an individual basis. After Di Hopkins spoke to give her suggestions on the matter, Mr. Darwin made the comment that adjacent property owners needed to be considered when dealing with zoning matters as it needs to be remembered that there is more than one party affected when decisions regarding zoning changes are made. After a statement by Commission Member Gary Fernandes calling into question the usefulness of the original decision to go with a 100’ setback, Mr. Welch agreed with the wisdom of everyone’s statement but called to attention the specific section being looked at today was the nonconforming uses and the setback issue was something that needed to be looked at separately. After much more back and forth discussion, Mr. Welch advised the landowner that his issue would need to be dealt with on an individual basis and advised him to go through the Special Exception process. 3. Approve meeting minutes from 03/03/2022 Public Hearing and Regular Meetings: After some discussion a motion was made, seconded and passed to approve the minutes.

Thursday, April 7, 2022, Bois d’Arc Lake Zoning Commission Member Gilbert Welch called to order the BDALZC Public Hearing at 8:21 a.m. in place of County Judge Randy Moore as Judge Moore was attending a County Management & Risk Conference. Quorum was established with Commission Members Gilbert Welch, Kevin Darwin present and Commission Member Gary Fernandes attending via phone. Commission Member Matt Titsworth was not present. 2. Hear comments concerning text amendments to the official Bois d’Arc Lake Zoning Regulations regarding: Nonconforming Uses and Structures, Section 3.06: Mr. Welch explained how the purpose of this was to allow staff, Fannin County Development Services Director Di Hopkins specifically, more flexibility and ability to solve issues with nonconforming uses without the public being burdened to come before the Zoning Commission with every single nonconforming use issue. Di Hopkins spoke to say that she had shown the Commission with four different cases, the hardship that existed for certain landowners to build within the regulations and said she believes this amendment is needed to make it easier to help the citizenry. After Mr. Welch asked if there were any in attendance who would like to speak on this, a citizen of Frisco, TX who described himself as a future citizen of Bonham who has purchased property on CR 1396 near Bois d’Arc Lake’s North boat ramp, spoke. He explained how he had read

through the rules but was confused how the setback rules would apply to the AG zoned property he purchased which was 4.5 acres and the regulation dealing with a minimum of 5 acres. After some discussion, Mr. Welch determined he might want to restate his comments during the Regular Meeting. The landowner then stated that he just wanted it known that the current procedure for him to request a Special Exception, is a multi-step, lengthier process and that he is in favor of revisions being made to improve the process so that approving reasonable exceptions to setbacks would be allowed and, in his opinion, be a definite benefit for people in his situation. There were no other speakers. 3. Adjourn: Motion was made, seconded and passed to adjourn at 8:32 a.m. On the same day, Mr. Welch called to order at 8:32 a.m., the Regular Meeting of the Bois d’Arc Lake Zoning Commission and noted that Quorum had previously been established. 2. Public Forum: Mr. Welch called the citizen of Frisco back to the podium to speak on his specific request regarding the verbiage relating to setbacks. The landowner then explained his issue was with the verbiage relating to AG acreage (minimum of 5 acres) and detailed the problem he was seeing with the setbacks for 5 acres being applied to his acreage being that it was only 4.5 acres and with the easement requirements of NTMWD, his 4.5 acreage is actually reduced to more like 2.8 which places him in the category of under 3 acres that also has unsatisfactory setback regulations. He then explained how the Special Exception

May 7th City, School 2/15/22 2/22/22 and County Election Locations

By Tammy Biggar, Fannin County Clerk

During the 87th Legislature Special Session it was determined a Special Election for the proposed Constitutional Amendments would be held during the city and school elections this May. The end result is our May 7th elections look very much like our 2020 November elections with all entities being combined in order to accommodate the varying ballots.

All early voting will once again be held at the Roy V. Floyd Civic Center-1100 W. 5th St, Bonham, Texas, (“The Armory”, on the grounds where Trades Days is held). There will be a separate ballot for each election. The voter may in fact be eligible for as many as three ballots. If a ballot by mail has been requested, the voter may receive 3 different envelopes! It is critical for the at-home voter to keep

the ballots straight and make sure the ballot goes back into the envelope marked on the outside for that ballot. For example, if you receive a BISD ballot, you will receive a return envelope with “BISD” on the outside of the envelope. On Election Day, County Precinct voters will go to the consolidated location. At that location any ballot the voter is eligible for will be available. For instance, if you are a BISD voter, please

Whenever possible, Early Voting is encouraged as it is in one location for all ballots. If you need clarification on where to go vote for Election Day, do not hesitate to call the Fannin County Election Division at 903583-7488. Ballots and voting locations will be on www.co.fannin. tx.us, please go to the Voting section and look at the bottom of the page.

By Mike Dickison (Minister at the Ivanhoe Church of Christ)

Prayers are hindered when there is sin in our lives. Isaiah penned these words, “Behold, the LORD’S hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear: But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear” (Isaiah 59:1-2). The psalmist wrote “If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me” (Psalm 66:15). Prayers are hindered when we despise the law of God. Solomon wrote concerning the importance of hearing God’s word, “He that turneth

away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer shall be abomination” (Proverbs 28:9). Prayers are hindered when we ask for things selfishly. John reminds us that “his is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us” (1 John 5:14). We are to ask James wrote that “Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts” (James 4:3). Let us pray and ask in faith. Let us remove sin from our lives and pray. Let us read our Bibles and pray. Let us ask according to the will of GOD.

kate.sullivan @cohenveteransnetwork.org

What Will Hinder Prayers?

Prayer is a vital privilege that every child of God has. Prayers are how we make our desires known to God. It is how we give thanks to God. Many times the prayers of a child of God are hindered. Prayers are hindered when we ask without faith. James wrote “let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord” (James 1:6-7).

heads for cleaning, realigning, repairs, or replacement. This is a great time to do soil testing! Also, remember to follow label instructions when applying fertilizers, insecticides, herbicides, and any other chemical or botanical products. First time vegetable gardeners avoid over planting. Unless the garden is for a large family or is for multiple families, be realistic. Four bean plants will provide enough green beans for one person to eat fresh beans. Four plants will fit in one square foot. Start new gardens with a small area, in a flower bed that is already prepared, or in containers. Try using lettuce or spinach as a flowerbed border. Keep the garden a manageable size so more time can be spent harvesting produce and less time weeding. Planting Tips *If starting flowers from seed, now is the time to plant celosia, marigold, portulaca, zinnia, and other warm-season annuals in prepared beds. Keep seeded areas moist until seeds germinate. Thin as seedlings soon as they are big enough to transplant to other areas. For instant color, purchase started annuals. Select short, compact plants. Any flowers or flower buds should be pinched off at planting to help plants become established. *Plant tomatoes, peppers, corn, beans, squash, okra, cucumbers, melons, and other warm-season vegetables.

Black-eyed peas can be planted in July which allows some rotation planting. *Save any left-over flower or vegetable seeds by closing the packet with tape or paper clips and storing in a sealed glass jar in the refrigerator. *Plant turf grass--Bermuda from seed and St. Augustine and zoysia from sod. Pruning Tips *Prune spring-flowering shrubs like forsythia, Japanese quince, Indian hawthorn, azaleas, early white Spirea and honeysuckle after they finish blooming. Use lopping shears or hand pruners (no hedge trimmers). Keep the natural shape of the plant in mind while pruning. Avoid excessive cutting except when necessary to control size. Start pruning by trimming off any long shoots that stick out beyond the main plant. Cut the stem off from the base of the plant or flush with the remaining stem. Continue with the next longest shoot until the plant is the size and shape you want. Apply an all-nitrogen fertilizer (it should include 50% slow-release nitrogen) to promote good stem growth this spring for a beautiful display next year. *Pinch the tips out of new blackberry canes to encourage branching and produce more compact plants. Fertilizing Tips *Turf grass: Do a soil test. Typically, clay soils need only nitrogen, while sandy soils will require a high nitrogen fertil-

izer at a 4-1-2 ratio. For either soil types, half or more of the nitrogen should be in a slowrelease form. *For trees, shrubs, vegetables, and flower beds use the same type of fertilizer as is used on the lawn. Avoid using weed and feed products as a fertilizer in flower beds. For acid-loving plants like azaleas, gardenias, and wisteria use an iron/sulfur soil-acidifier product. *For roses, use a complete fertilizer for the first application as new growth starts, then use ammonium sulfate, or other high nitrogen source, every 4 to 6 weeks. *Wait to cut the foliage on daffodils until the greenery turns brown. The stem and leaves continue to produce carbohydrates that will strengthen the bulb for spectacular blooms next spring. Time to Watch For *Bag worms on junipers and other narrow-leafed evergreens. Hand pick light infestations or tear the bags open to allow birds and wasps to feed on the larvae. Carbaryl dust or spray should be applied while the insects and the bags are about one-half inch in length. Organic remedies include sprays of B.t. or Spinosad. *Check new tender growth for aphids. Large infestations should be controlled. Try a strong spray from the garden hose first. If using pesticides, always follow label instructions.

Alicia Whipple noted that if this plan is implemented, TAC (Texas Association of Counties) will do an assessment audit on the county to determine where weaknesses exist and once everything is in place TAC will come back yearly for an audit. Also, if Fannin County is found to be compliant with the plan, there will be an opportunity to save on the workers comp insurance obtained from TAC. FANNIN COUNTY ELECTRIC COOPERATIVE WISHES TO THANK THEIR LINEMEN! #thankalineman America’s Electrical Cooperatives Designated the second Monday of April as National Lineman Appreciation Day. The resolution, adopted unanimously by the NRECA Board of Directors, says this about lineman and the proper recognition of their contributions: “Whereas linemen leave their families and put their lives on the line every day to keep power on; Whereas linemen work 365 days a year under dangerous conditions to build, maintain and repair the electric infrastructure; Whereas lineman are the first responders of the electric cooperative family, getting power back on and making things safe for all after storms and accidents; Whereas there would be no electric cooperatives without the brave men and women who comprise our corps of linemen; Therefore be it resolved that NRECA recognize the second Monday of April each year as National Lineman Appreciation Day and make available to electric cooperatives, materials and support to recognize the contributions of these valuable men and women to America’s Electric Cooperatives.” On April 11 this year, Fannin County Electric Cooperative will honor the dedicated people who work in challenging conditions to keep the lights on. We proudly recognize all electric lineman for the services they perform around the clock in dangerous circumstances to keep power flowing and protect the public’s safety. Our co-op linemen maintain 2,300 miles of line in Fannin and parts of Grayson, Collin, Lamar and Hunt counties. “Our linemen are the first responders of our electric distribution system, and they work around the clock on high-voltage lines,” General Manager/CEO John Ed Shinpaugh says. “Conditions can be dangerous, but they power through to ensure reliable service for our members.” Fannin County Electric Cooperative invites all our members to take a moment and thank our linemen for the work they do. If you see a lineman at the grocery store or at a local ballgame, shake their hand and let them know you appreciate their work. If you post on social media, use #thankalineman to show your support for the heroes who light our lives.

Bonham-Wesley (Wes) Elwood Agnew, age 86, of Bonham, TX was born on December 2, 1935 in Kinsley, KS to Floyd Elwood and Ethel Mary (Beebe) Agnew. He was promoted as the Heaven’s Orneriest Angel on Tuesday, April 5, 2022 at Clyde Cosper Texas State Veterans Home in Bonham, TX. Wes served honorably in the United States Air Force from 1955 to 1959 and then served in the Kansas Air National Guard until 1965, when he met and married the love of his life, Virginia Sue (Boundy) Agnew, on April 18, 1965 in Wichita, KS. Wes and Sue took the bold move to relocate their family to Euless, Texas where he worked for Braniff International Airlines as an aircraft mechanic until May of 1982. Then he made an even bolder move and joined forces with his long-time friend and business partner, Richard Willingham, to form a roofing business installing roofs across the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex. Wes and Sue moved to Arkansas in 1997 where he renewed his love of aviation, working as a maintenance controller (telling those young kids how to work on planes) before retiring in 2008 and moving to Bonham. Wes loved spending time with his family, which included eating BBQ cooked by his son, David; playing Mexican Train with Sue and his son, Mike; and listening to the worldly travel adventures of his son, Stephen. But nothing brought him more joy than being Papa Turkey and Grandpa to his four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Wes was an active volunteer at the Fannin County Crisis Center at the encouragement of their new special friend, Jo Ransom, and for the Fort Inglish Society. His was a strong supporter of his wife’s involvement with Sadie’s Willing Workers at the First Baptist Church. Wes is survived by wife, Sue Agnew of Bonham; son, David Agnew and wife Tami of Rowlett; son, Mike Agnew of Bonham; and son, Stephen Agnew of Hot Springs; granddaughters, Staci Bray and husband Sinque, and Stefani Hannon and husband Shawn, grandson, Dennis Agnew; great grandchildren, Madeline Ensign, Audrey and Nora Hannon, Azaryah, Mekai, and Cyrus Bray; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Mary and Chris Hattaway; in addition to numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Ethel Agnew; son, Randy Agnew and wife Pam, grandson, Kevin Agnew, great grandson, Hayden Lee Agnew, and sister and brother-in-law, Lucylle and Harry Gifford. Visitation was held at CooperSorrells Funeral Home in Bonham, TX on Monday, April 11, 2022 at 9:00am followed by funeral services at 10:00am. Bro.

Ken Ussery officiated. Interment with military honors was held at 2:00pm at Parker Memorial Cemetery in Grapevine, TX. Serving as pallbearers were David Agnew, Mike Agnew, Stephen Agnew, Dennis Agnew, Shawn Hannon, Sinque Bray, Chris Hattaway, Philip Stukey, Roy Skillman, Richard Willingham, and Dale McGhee. The family would like to give special thanks to Clyde Cosper Texas State Veterans Home and the staff for providing excellent care to Wes during his stay with them these last few years. Prior to him becoming a resident himself, Wes spent countless hours making friends and visiting the residents while waiting for Sue’s nursing shift to end prior to her retirement, many of whom he recognized and remembered when he moved to Cosper in 2019. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Fannin County Crisis Center or the charity of your choice. THE ISSUANCE OF $53,690,000 OF BONDS BY BONHAM INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT FOR LH RATHER JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL, FINLEY-OATES ELEMENTARY AND BAILEY INGLISH EARLY CHILDHOOD CENTER, AND LEVYING THE TAX IN PAYMENT THEREOF. THIS IS A PROPERTY TAX INCREASE.

The following table sets forth the estimated principal amount of, and interest due to maturity on, the bonds to be issued if Proposition A passes, and all outstanding obligations of the District secured by and payable from ad valorem taxes. Principal Amount of Bonds to be authorized

Estimated interest for Bonds to be authorized (1)

Estimated combined principal and interest required to pay on time and in full the Bonds to be authorized (1) $90,900,550

(1) The interest on the proposed bonds was estimated at a rate of 3.250% based on market conditions as of February 7, 2022, and therefore, the interest payable on the proposed bonds may be less than, or more than, the amounts set forth above based on market conditions at the time of sale of the proposed bonds. Based on the information and assumptions provided in the table above, the estimated maximum annual increase in the amount of taxes that would be imposed on a residence homestead in the District with a taxable appraised value of $100,000 to repay the proposed bonds, if approved, is $0.00. This estimate assumes average annual growth of District’s taxable assessed valuation of 2.6% through tax year 2023 and 10% per year through the tax year 2025, and holds the District’s taxable assessed valuation constant thereafter and assumes that the proposed bonds will be issued in an amortization that will produce relatively overall consistent levels of debt service in each year while taking into account the District’s existing debt. Sunday Morning Re-take 4/12/22

Hello everyone! We had a wonderful service in God’s house Sunday morning! The Lord has greatly blessed our church! The Bible tells us in 1 Peter 2:24, that Jesus bore our sins in His own body on the cross, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness, and it is by His stripes that we are healed.

Some of my favorite hymns are those not only about the cross, but about the blood as well. I am reminded of a song that my sister and I sang many years ago. It’s about a little boy who is lost, and all he knew was his name. A man asks him where he lived, and he remembered an old church with a cross on the steeple, that had a light shining on it.

He said to the man, “If you can get me to that cross, then I can find my way home” As the chorus of the song says, when we’re there beneath the cross, we’re no longer lost. The way of the cross indeed leads home. That being said, my hymn reference for this week is a classic hymn that I’m pretty sure we are all familiar with.

George Bennard wrote this back in 1915. “On a hill far away stood an old rugged cross, The emblem of suffering and shame; And I love that old cross, where the dearest and best, For a world of lost sinners was slain. So I‘ll cherish the old rugged cross, Till my trophies at last I lay down; I will cling to the old rugged cross, And exchange it someday for a crown.”

If you are looking for a good church home, we invite you to come visit and worship with us here at Central Baptist Church. Visitors are our honored guests, and we hope to see you this coming Lord’s day! Josh Stevenson Central Baptist Church Bonham, TX https://www.facebook.com/ cbcfannin

Press Release - Fannin County Commissioners approved a proclamation declaring April to be Child Abuse Awareness and Prevention Month at their meeting on April 5, 2022. Pictured with the commissioners are several of the professionals and volunteers who are fighting child abuse in our community, including Child Protective Services workers, law enforcement officials, prosecutors, courts, victim advocates, forensic

interviewers, CASA volunteers, Children’s Center board members, Child Welfare Board members and others. The Children’s Center has been arranging for pinwheel displays to be set up throughout the county. Pinwheels are often a symbol of the child abuse prevention efforts in our country. In the displays in Fannin County, 84 pinwheels are set up to symbolize the 84 children who were confirmed victims

of abuse in Fannin County last year. Blue Sunday is April 24 and a day in which faith communities are encouraged to pray for abused children. The Children’s Center is also encouraging businesses, schools, churches and others to Paint our Towns Blue for the month of April. For more information, go to www.fanninccc.org or visit the Fannin County Children’s Center’s page on Facebook.
