It was during the Sum mer Revival 1949 that the most glorious con version took place. My wife had been the soloist for the morning service. She had sung “You Must Be Born Again.” When I finished my sermon and extend ed the invitation she came forward and said to me “Bill, I sang the song, but I have never been born again.” I

counseled with her and she received her sal vation by faith. I had the privilege of baptiz ing her in a pond near the Hephzibah Baptist Church. Needless to say I am sure this community will always hold a dear place in my heart. Others were saved that week as well. The Holy Spirit was allowed to do His work.
The thought for this week is right out of Je sus’ conversation with Nicodemus ‘Ye must be born again.” If you have not been, you can be today.
One of the things that I remember about the dear people in the rural churches where I did pastoring, they love their church. They served with simple faith. They helped us in our growth.
One of the needs we have in our churches today is for an infill ing of the Holy Spirit.

Too often we are powerless because we neglect Him and His strength. “But you will receive the power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witness both in Jeru salem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth.” – Acts1:8.

Romans 12:18 recognizes that while we can’t control everything, we should try our best to seek peace. For instance, you can’t control someone else’s anger or vitriol, but you can control yourself. By controlling our words, our actions, and our conduct, we can encourage peace rather than discord. For example, as believers, we should purposely avoid provoking strife or fighting. Commissioners I did not trip and fall. I attacked the floor and I believe I am winning.Sunday Morning Re-take
Hello everyone!
We had a wonderful service Sunday morning in God’s house!
One of the most well-known verses in the Bible is Matthew 6:33. “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” As I have said before, our nation is not holding to this wonderful promise that Jesus gave to us in the sermon on the mount, and also the promise given to us in 2 Chronicles 7:14. We have got to put our faith and our trust in the Lord, where it needs to be. This is the only way that our nation will ever see any recovery from the problems that we are experiencing.
In 1834, Edward Mote penned the words to one of my favorite hymns. This is a wonderful testimony hymn! I hope and pray that this is your testimony.
“My hope is built on nothing less Than Jesus’ blood and
righteousness. I dare not trust the sweetest frame, But wholly lean on Jesus’ name. On Christ, the Solid Rock, I stand, All other ground is sinking sand, All other ground is sinking sand.”
If you are looking for a good church home, we invite you to
visit and worship with us here at Central Baptist Church. Like we always say, visitors are our honored guests, and we hope that you will come be a part of our worship service this coming Lord’s day!

of Engineers, TxDOT and one other unnamed agency, the engineers, having noted they are done; are only wait ing for those approvals be fore moving forward with the work on the culvert. She also commented on the ongo ing work on the website and explained what information is still needed in completing the project. She addition ally noted that she would like each board member to have
their photo taken at Moore Photog raphy for the web site sometime in October.
8. Review & possible action regarding par ticipation in the Neon Cloud marketing plat form; funds covered by the 2021-22 Budget: President McDon ald explained how this will be online videos to inform the public about pre-development agreements and what is going on around the com munity. Ms. Cooper described further how the information would be provid ed for the public in the format of “pop-ups” on the BEDCO website. She added that the cost had been changed from $42,000 to $25,935. Due to a discrepancy in some docu ments, the exact cost came into question. A discussion ensued about what the sites would en tail after which a motion was made by Glenn Taylor to ap prove the funds to use Neon Cloud to not exceed $26,000. The motion was seconded by Kelly Royse and passed unani mously.
9. Consideration and pos sible action regarding cam paign for sales of liquor/ spirits within the City of Bonham. If approved, dis cussion of plan of action to do so: Wayne Moore began the discussion on this item by posing the question if this is a role for BEDCO to be part of. President McDonald stated the need for a facilitator existed if the sale of liquor/spirits in Bonham would happen. A dis cussion ensued regarding the negative optics of municipality participation in the promotion of this agenda. Noting that the steps for beginning a campaign
would first entail the organiza tion of a PAC (political action committee) for contributions to run the campaign (which is accomplished with an ap plication signed by ten quali fied voters) to petition for an election. It was noted that to attempt it by November would be out of the question; but that a more reasonable time to aim for would be the election held in May or the following elec tion and that it should be more of a community effort and not a BEDCO effort to avoid nega tive responses from those op posed to it. A motion was then made by Kelly Royse to table this item with Ernie Quintana seconding the motion. Be fore a vote was taken, it was suggested that the motion be amended to reflect no action instead of it being tabled. That suggestion was agreed upon by all the members and the amended motion to take no ac tion passed unanimously.
10. Adjourn to Execu tive Session under Section 551.087 for economic devel opment negotiations: A mo tion was made, seconded and passed to enter into Executive Session at 6:09. Some time later, a motion was made, sec onded and passed to enter back into Regular Session at 6:35 p.m.
11. Return to Regular Ses sion and consider action from discussions: President McDonald asked for a mo tion over what was discussed during the Executive Session. Kelly Royse then made a mo tion that a performance agree ment be put together between BEDCO and Fix & Feed to be discussed at the next meeting. Ernie Quintana seconded the motion which passed unani mously.
12. Adjourn: A motion was made, seconded and passed to adjourn at 6:35 p.m.

Secretary Scott Marks National Voter Registration Day, Highlights Statewide ‘VoteReady’ Voter Education Campaign
AUSTIN – On National Voter Registration Day, Texas Secre tary of State John Scott held a press conference at the ConleyGuerrero Senior Activity Cen ter in East Austin to highlight the office’s “VoteReady” voter education campaign. “VoteR eady” is a statewide campaign to educate Texans about ID re quirements for voting in Texas, as well as ID requirements for those who are eligible to vote by mail. “I want to ensure that all Texans are informed, prepared and ready to make their voices heard,” said Secretary Scott.
“Regardless of how you votewhether it’s in person or by mail - you have to identify yourself when you vote in Texas. Today, we are working to make sure that all eligible Texas voters un derstand the ID requirements so they can vote successfully and easily in the upcoming Novem ber General Election.”

Letter to the Editor
Why Vote.... What Happens When You Don’t?
Some citizens don’t make time to vote thinking it won’t matter or have adopted the practice of leaving a ballot blank for certain candidates in hopes of sending a message of displeasure. If elections were a football game, not voting in order to punish a candidate, is like a player refusing to pass to a team player who is in the best position to score a touch down because he personally dislikes that player. Perhaps a phone call to a candidate’s campaign or office would speak louder! Even better, re cruit a candidate to run in op position, or maybe run your self! Whatever the strategy, showing up to vote your own ballot in alignment with the party platform that best rep resents you, even if you have to hold your nose to vote for some candidates, stands the best chance of your being rep resented.
Consider two direct con sequences when you do not vote. First, the greater the
number of votes cast, the greater the understanding of issues and aspirations of the citizens. In other words, the more people that vote, the more representation within our government. Second, af fecting us Texans at the local levels during the gubernato rial election cycle (every four years): the political party’s candidate for governor that re ceives the greatest number of votes within our jurisdiction has first nomination rights for election judges to run our lo cal elections at every precinct for the next four years. Even though your vote for governor might win at the state level, your local elections could be run by the party you oppose because your candidate did not win the majority of local votes. All politics are local. So, not voting or abstaining has a direct influence on local elections. Keep our Constitu tional Republic (Democracy) strong... study party platforms online and please vote this November!

Property Tax Statements (Bills) for 2022 Tax Year
Press Release - The collec tions phase of the tax calendar for 2022 has arrived. Soon, property tax statements (tax bills) will be mailed to all own ers of property in Fannin Coun ty. Property owners may remit property tax payments in sever al ways. To pay by mail, please use the self-addressed envelope included with the statement. Be sure to include all statement stubs or property ID number(s).
If you would like a receipt, sim ply request one with your pay ment and provide your email address or mailing address.
Other property tax payment methods include credit card and e-check, which may be ac cessed on our website at www. fannincad.org Payments may also be made in person at the Appraisal District or dropped off after hours in the door slot.
If you own property in Fan nin County and do not receive your bill by the end of October, please contact the Fannin Cen tral Appraisal District’s collec tions department at 903-5838701 to verify your account information and avoid possible delinquency.
Things to know regarding your tax statement/bill: Bills are due upon receipt and will become delinquent if not paid before February 1st, 2023. It is important to timely pay your property tax bill and avoid these additional costs. Delin quent taxes accumulate penal ties and interest and may result in a lawsuit. Property owners are encouraged to open these statements sooner than later and be proactive in communicating any payment arrangements with the District’s collections staff.
NOTE: The appraisal district uses the address indicated on the deed to send notices, bills and other mailings. If the cur
rent owner’s actual mailing ad dress is different from what is indicated on the deed, the own er has the responsibility to in form the appraisal district of the change in writing. Simply go to our website at www.fannincad.
org click the “Forms” tab and click the “Change of Address Request”. Please do not let the simple process of updating your address keep you from being informed of important property tax matters.
Property owners with multi ple accounts: Paying property taxes on multiple accounts can be confusing. Owners of multi ple accounts are responsible for ensuring they have accounted for all their properties. Own ers of multiple properties often have different names on the accounts. Some accounts may be in a company name, a trust, or in various forms of a name (such as J. Smith, John Smith, and Jonathan Smith etc.).
Some owners have differing mailing addresses as well. In short, the collectors do not own the property, are not responsible for the tax, or to determine how much a person decides to pay.
During this phase the collec tors receive and post payments and issue receipts. If a person requires assistance in this area, they should make arrangements to come to the Appraisal Dis trict’s office early (OctoberNovember) and not wait until the last week of December or January to sort through their tax statements.
For a detailed list of frequent ly asked questions, please go to our website at www.fannincad. org and click the “Property Tax Statement” post under current news or alerts. Thank you. Fannin Central Appraisal Dis trict

Heaven Is Obtainable
By Mike DickisonHeaven is obtainable be cause God is accessible. The prophet Isaiah wrote, “Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near” (Isaiah 55:6).
Christians are to “come bold ly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need” (Hebrews 4:16).
Heaven is obtainable be cause forgiveness is avail able.
“If thou, LORD, shoul dest mark iniquities, O Lord, who shall stand? But there is forgiveness with thee” (Psalms 130:3-4). Peter said “Repent, and be baptized ev ery one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins” (Acts 2:38). Ananias told Saul, “arise, and be bap tized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord” (Acts 22:16).
Heaven is obtainable be cause God’s promises are reliable. Paul told Titus about eternal life and God’s plan. “In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began” (Titus 1:2). We also find that we can trust in God’s promises, “in which it was
impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consola tion, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us” (Hebrews 6:18).
Heaven is obtainable be cause the Christian life is liv able. Paul wrote “For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain” (Philippians 1:21). We are encouraged to “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded” (James 4:7-8). We are reminded that we “can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me(us)” (Philippians 4:13). In living for Christ, Paul wrote “I am crucified with Christ: nev ertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me” (Galatians 2:20).
When we are obedient, loyal, and faithful to God, we can say as the Psalmist, “Thou shalt guide me with thy counsel, and afterward receive me to glory” (Psalms 73:24).
To Our Readers & Advertisers
You have likely noticed a change in our delivery process. We are now mailing to all residents instead of throwing home deliveries in Bonham, Honey Grove and Ladonia. This major change for us is an attempt to clean up the streets and yards when papers are not picked up by residents, we believe this will create a cleaner environment. This change will also help those who are unable to get their paper from the yard or driveway. We appreciate you, our readers. We Thank our advertisers who make it possible for Fannin County to receive a FREE local newspaper.

Bois d’Arc Lake Update: Dam is Complete, Pump Station Startup Underway
NTMWD - The Bois d’Arc Lake dam was deemed substan tially complete on August 26. Construction crews connected power to the system that oper ates the gates to release water back to Bois d’Arc Creek. This was the last of many electrical elements finished at the dam, including power for the intake tower’s gates and bridge crane.
North Texas Municipal Water District (NTMWD) operators have been trained to operate the gates; much of that work will be handled remotely from the Leonard Water Treatment Plant. Freese and Nichols
worked closely with NTMWD to ensure a smooth startup and meet all contractual require ments.
Now that local transformers have been powered up, vari ous electrical components of the Raw Water Pump Station (RWPS) are being energized and individually tested. Once all the smaller, individual piec es are tested and adjusted, the team will energize the entire station and be ready to pump water to the terminal storage reservoir at the Leonard Water Treatment Plant. The goal is to complete that process yet this
fall.
The Dam and RWPS Include:
• 17+ miles of electrical cables (some 2-3 inches thick).
• More than 3.5 miles of con duit — the pipe that holds and supports electrical wire.
• Currently three (and eventu ally nine) 11-by-8-foot-tall pumps. Each will be able to transmit around 35,000 gallons of water per minute.
Once the RWPS is energized, crews will pump some water to the Leonard Water Treatment Plant, where it will be used to test various components of the water treatment process.
Oxygenating the Lake
As crews wrapped up efforts at the dam, they also finished another important and unique component—oxygenation for the lake. A team connected and pulled 23,000 total feet of dif fuser hoses out into the lake, submerging them beneath the surface. These hoses were then connected to a liquid oxygen tank system that converts the oxygen to gas and then pipes it into the water. Diffusing oxy gen in this way will help main tain the quality of the water de livered and support the lake’s habitat.
Moderate Hunting Conditions Ahead of White-Tailed Deer Archery-Only Season Opener
AUSTIN — With drought affecting most of the state over the summer, Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD)
biologists foresee a moderate season for hunters this fall.
“Overall, 2022 year is expected
to be good in terms of harvest numbers and opportunities, so don’t let the chance to spend time afield with family, friends and fellow hunters pass you by,” said Alan Cain, White-Tailed Deer Program
Leader for TPWD. “Texas has one of the longest deer seasons in the nation, so take some time this fall and winter and enjoy one of the best deer herds in the country right here in your home state.”
Deer hunting kicks off with archery season on Oct. 1 across most of the state. Cain noted that while harvest numbers may look good, drought impacts on deer habitats mean hunters should generally expect average to below average antler quality and body weight this fall.
Additionally, hunters may see fewer deer at feeders when archery season opens, as recent rains have improved habitat conditions, providing an abundance of native forage that means deer won’t have to travel far to find something to browse. Archery hunters may need to alter their hunting strategies to find harvest success, Cain said.
Drought conditions
While the archery-only season kicks off Oct. 1, the general season opens more than a month later, on Nov. 5. The general season runs through Jan. 1, 2023 in the North Zone and Jan. 15, 2023 in the South Zone. A special youth-only gun deer season is set in both zones for Oct. 29-30 and Jan. 2-15, 2023. For additional late season deer hunting opportunities, county specific regulations and information on how to property tag and report a harvest, consult the 2022-23 Outdoor Annual.

Cooper FAIR. Water lightly stained; 78 degrees. Fishing is sim ilar while we wait on the fall weather. Catfish are good on noo dles. White bass fair chasing bait balls over the lake with jigs, small spoons, anything flashy. Crappie are slow on main lake brush piles and standing timber with jigs and minnows. Bass are fair along grass ledges and standing timber with crankbaits. Tawakoni GOOD. Water lightly stained; 80 degrees; 3.53 feet low. Lake Tawakoni continues to fish well as the summer pat tern comes to an end. Each week the fish become more active as the water temperatures decline. Hybrid stripers and white bass have become active on the lake in several different areas, sometimes feeding under birds and other times feeding deep where we are catching them throwing spoons and slabs. Best depth has been between 12-24 feet. Crappie are picking up as the water temperatures continue to cool off. Texoma EXCELLENT. Water stained; 80 degrees; 1.70 feet below. Striped bass are good scattered from shallow flats to deeper water biting on slabs. Some topwater action early in the morning, and midday. Sand bass are mixed in with the stripers on shallow flats. Largemouth and smallmouth bass are slow with the amount of shad in the lake making it tough to fool them. Still off the banks in 8-15 feet of water fishing soft plastics late in the day and topwaters the first couple hours of the day. Key in on underwater points and brush piles using electronics. Blue and channel catfish are great on flats in 20-30 feet of water moving shallower as the water temperature cools off using cut shad and prepared baits. Crappie are mostly undersized with better fish mixed in as you move around. Target roaming fish with electron ics fishing the tops of brush piles in 10-15 feet of water.
Temperatures in the early summer months frequently soared above 100 degrees across most of the state, and lack of significant rainfall limited the spring production of important food sources like forbs (weeds) and woody shrubs for deer.
