Ross Breast Center – Mobile Digital Mammography Since 1992, we have provided mobile mammography services to the women of East Texas to ensure convenient access to this potentially life-saving screening. Our skilled physicians, nurses and technicians have been specially trained to deal with all medical emergencies, including rapid stabilization of heart attacks, strokes, trauma, poisoning, severe bleeding and other sudden illnesses in adults and children. Hospitalists

hether explaining a medical procedure, providing updates on a patient’s condition or planning for appropriate care after discharge home, our hospitalists are dedicated to ensuring that our patients are comfortable and receive very good care while in our hospitals. Hospitalists can be internal medicine or family medicine physicians and have training in other medical specialties such as cardiology and intensive care. They assume the primary responsibility of efficiently managing the process of inpatient care for medical and surgical patients from the time of hospital admission to the time of their discharge home. They do not replace the patient’s primary care physician, surgeon or any other specialist, but in fact work closely with them to provide total case management for the entire period of the patient’s hospital stay. After a patient is discharged from the hospital, follow-up visits should be made with the primary care physician who consulted with the treating hospitalists in developing the treatment plan during the hospital stay.

ince 1985, The Flight For Life aeromedical program has answered the regional need for rapid transport in a critical care environment, of critically ill and injured patients, from isolated rural medical facilities and EMS agencies to tertiary care centers. No matter where you live in East Texas, Trinity Mother Frances technologically advanced Flight For Life medical team is minutes away. The EC145 flies up to 145 knots, or roughly 166 miles per hour. And that’s never more important than when you face a heart attack, stroke or trauma. We serve victims of stroke, trauma and cardiac emergency in 32 counties. On occasion, Flight For Life also transports patients to facilities in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, Texarkana, Shreveport, Houston and other appropriate facilities in East Texas. The flight team consists of a pilot, a flight nurse, and a flight paramedic specially trained in both Adult Cardiac Life Support and Pediatric Advanced Life Support for critical patient transports. During life-threatening emergencies, our highly-trained medical team offers the fastest and highest quality care possible.

Our Mobile MRI unit equipped with the latest diagnostic technology, a Siemens MAGNETOM® Symphony MRI with 1.5 Tesla magnet, can accommodate disabled patients with a special lift, wheelchair and gurney capabilities. The mobile MRI unit is scheduled daily in locations throughout East Texas.

The Trinity Mother Frances Outpatient Imaging Center at HealthPark Plaza offers services that range from digital X-ray and fluoroscopy to nuclear medicine, Symbia® TruePoint Spect CT, general and vascular ultrasound, advanced Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) studies using the Magnetom SymphonyTM 1.5T MRI and the Magnetom® 3T Skyra MRI, PET/CT, 16 and 64 Slice Computed Tomography Scans (CT Scans). he goal of our physical and occupational* therapists is to return our patients to normal function as quickly and safely as possible. Our rehabilitation professionals work with each patientâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s physician to develop an individualized care plan. We provide a broad range of outpatient rehabilitation services. Orthopedic and Sports Medicine Rehabilitation We offer advanced treatment for many acute and chronic Orthopedic conditions of the extremities and spine, including post-surgical rehab. Our treatment programs are designed to obtain optimal function for patients of all ages. Our sports medicine program is available to assist athletes of all levels. Recognizing the importance of injury prevention, we provide athletes with programs designed to minimize the risk of injury and optimize performance. When there is an injury, our goal is to help the athlete return to their sport as soon as possible. Hand Rehabilitation* We provide specialized care for both non-surgical and post-surgical rehabilitation of the wrist and hand. Aquatic Therapy Aquatic therapy is an exercise program that is performed in the water and is a beneficial form of therapy that is useful for a variety of medical conditions. One benefit of aquatic therapy is the buoyancy provided by the water which assists in supporting the weight of the patient. This decreases the amount of weight bearing which reduces the force of stress placed on the joints. By decreasing the amount of joint stress, it is easier and less painful to perform exercises which can speed up recovery. Aquatic therapy is available in Athens, Canton, Lake Palestine, Lindale, Jacksonville and Tyler. Neuromuscular Rehabilitation Patients with neurological deficits such as those caused by stroke or brain injury often require outpatient rehabilitation. We specialize in the evaluation and treatment of outpatients with neurological and neuromuscular diagnoses. eart disease is the leading cause of death for men and women in the United States. Strokes are the third leading cause of death in America and the leading cause of adult disability. Both strokes and heart attacks are preventable in most cases. Keys to prevention include: • Quitting smoking • Lowering cholesterol • Controlling high blood pressure • Maintaining a healthy weight • Exercising • Getting regular medical check-ups Heart Attack Warning Signs Some heart attacks are sudden and intense. But most start slowly, with mild pain or discomfort. Here are some of the signs that can mean a heart attack is happening: Men • Chest pain lasting more than a few minutes, or that goes away and comes back • Discomfort or pain in the jaw, neck, shoulders, arms or back • Intense sweating or shortness of breath • Nausea or vomiting Women • Unusual chest pain, stomach pain or abdominal pain • Nausea or dizziness • Shortness of breath and difficulty breathing • Palpitations, cold sweat or paleness If you experience any of these symptoms, call 911 immediately. If you are experiencing symptoms of an acute heart attack, time is muscle. Our Code STEMI protocol has reduced transport to treatment time from 133 minutes to less than 60 minutes – a life-saving difference that is better than national guidelines. Emergency care centers and emergency transports throughout the region have joined Mother Frances Hospital Tyler in this initiative. Code STEMI is part of the American College of Cardiology national quality improvement project.

Stroke Stroke is a condition that affects the arteries leading to and within the brain. A stroke occurs when a blood vessel that carries oxygen and nutrients to the brain is either blocked by a clot or bursts. When that happens, part of the brain cannot get the blood (and oxygen) it needs, so it starts to die. Stroke Warning Signs • Numbness or weakness of the face, arm or leg, especially on one side of the body • Change in vision in one or both eyes • Trouble speaking or understanding • Trouble walking, dizziness, loss of balance or coordination • Severe headache with no known cause

DirectCARE vs. ER There are times when unexpected illnesses can occur, even when you are managing your health, such as when your primary care provider’s office is closed and there is a need for medical treatment. First, ask yourself if your illness is life-threatening. If the answer is no, the solution is to seek treatment at one of our DirectCARE facilities or an urgent care center, instead of the Emergency Room (ER).

Urgent care visits are generally an hour or less and walk-ins are welcome. An emergency room will treat those with lifethreatening illnesses or injuries first, so you could wait two hours to be seen.
