OCTOBER 2013
Community Magazine & Independent Directory of Businesses serving the residents of Tickhill
@
Homeworks Charles House, 4 Castlegate, Tickhill. 01302 743978
Welcome ‘‘
to the OCTOBER 2013
edition of Tickhill Today.
as october arrives, i usually have to consider putting away my sandals and pulling on my winter boots. My problem this year, is that i threw away more than one pair of very old boots at the first signs of spring – my way of ensuring that i would definitely have new ones this year, but now that means i am going to have to make a rare shopping trip and a successful one at that, before ~ albert Camus i can wear boots this year, and i am beginning to regret that now! i have a feeling that my winter coat situation may be similar – i must learn not to be so ruthless during my spring clearouts! I am sorry to be the bearer of bad news but there are just 2 more magazines before Christmas now! So if you need to communicate details of Christmas events, or get your Christmas advertising campaign underway then now is the time to contact me. The November magazines will be delivered from 25th october and anything you would like including, should be with me by Friday 11th october.
Autumn is a second spring when every leaf is a fl ower.

Best wishes, Paula x

Darryl Tattersall–Waller took 2 for 32 and young Ben Dickinson 3 for 32. In response, after the early dismissal of Josh Dickinson to a good caught and bowled by Max Brennon for 2, four batsmen retired having reached 25., Darryl T-Waller, Paul Warne, Justin Dickinson, and Rich Dickinson, and it was left to two more Dickinson youngsters, Jack and Ben to reach the target in the 15th Over.

Paul Elton retired on 25 and was one of Joel Martin’s 2 victims in the final over, without adding to his score. Creativity begins at Home rosemary Firth art classes doncaster. The classes held at rosemary’s Bennetthorpe home are still thriving as they begin their third year. Creative people take part in painting, drawing, batik, felt making, printmaking and many more artistic activities every week. Rosemary used to run her classes from Gallery 12a on Doncaster’s South Parade, but when the lease ran out she decided to continue her classes from home. “At first it was planned as a temporary measure until I found other premises, but it worked so well from home that I didn’t need to look any further”
She creates her own batiks, collagraphs and mixed media work, exhibiting at local exhibitions whenever possible, and recently winning first prize in the Brevonart open exhibition. Most students are total beginners when they start, but they are all made to feel very welcome by the friendly atmosphere and copious refreshments. Some places are now available on most classes. You Can’t Take it With You! W
hilst thinking about our own death is not a comfortable prospect, it is one of very few certainties which we will all face in due course, and it makes sense to ensure that YOU make important decisions about what will happen to your property and assets after your
death rather than for your family to discover that the government will be making those decisions for them at a time when they are coping with the pain of bereavement. It is by no means the case for example that your spouse or partner will automatically inherit everything when you die. Depending on the value of your assets, if you die “intestate” i.e. without having made a will, your estate will be distributed according to a set of rules set down by the government, regardless of what you may have wanted. If you are unmarried and do not own property jointly with your partner, they may get nothing and could even have to leave the property where you lived together so that it can be sold. To avoid this, everyone should consider making a will. They can then ensure that their estate is disposed of in accordance with their wishes, they can appoint executors to deal with the administration of their estate after death, express views about the type of funeral they would like, and, in appropriate cases make decisions now which will reduce the potential tax liability on death. Jones & Co solicitors can advise you about the whole process of making a will, and planning to reduce your liability for taxes on death, as well as advising on trusts, lifetime gifts and many other important financial matters.

community When your family first comes to our sanctuary looking for a new companion it can be a little daunting as there are so many lovely potential pets to choose from. We try to make it a little easier by asking you to take a look around and see which dog you are attracted to, and look at the information provided to see if it ticks the boxes with your family and lifestyle. When you find a dog that you feel is right, you can take the dog into our paddock or for a walk for you both to get to know one another a little. This soon identifies if you are going to gel with your chosen dog. sometimes this will require more than one visit and we welcome someone taking their time to get it right. as with a cat you can be left to interact with your chosen pet and Penny our cattery manager will be on hand to assist you.
tmonth Pe t he
When you feel all is well and you have chosen your pet we ask that you complete a Home Visit form, this identifies a little about you and your garden. We ask that your fence is 5/6 ft high and you have locks on your gate. (Dog stealing is rife) A volunteer will then carry out a Home Visit, see where the dog will sleep and have a general chat (we do not let any of our dogs live outside). When all is well we would ask that you attend our induction course which is run by some very experienced dog trainers. There is time at the end of the session to ask questions and generally get the feel that you will be confident with the new addition to your family. We will be happy to give any advice that you may require. Each dog is an individual and some will take longer than others to feel at home and settle. But remember we will always be there for any advice 22 22

For the Sanctuary to survive we have to ask for a minimum donation this is NOT to buy the dog it is to make sure we are still here in years to come helping even more dogs and cats get through traumas and horrors that some humans inflict on them. It costs us £600 per day for our Sanctuary to stay open. Remember your chosen pet will also be neutered, chipped, wormed, flea’ d and inoculated before it goes home. We desperately need a gardener for the Sanctuary just a few hours a week on a voluntary basis. Also does anyone out there enjoy sewing and have a few hours to spare making our dog beds? We can provide quilts etc. We need to stock pile them for the cold winter months. Please come along with your family to look at our Sanctuary that we are so proud of.

Hello i’m Guinness, i came to Mayflower as i was found as a stray. i am a very loving lad and although my carers don’t know much about my history they can see that i’m used to being around someone, as i get very upset when i am left alone, which means i need a home where i am not left on my own much and can slowly be taught to get over my separation anxiety. i love to go on long walks and to play with toys so an active lifestyle would suit me fine . i’m not great around small fluff y things, but this is probably due to my breeds natural instincts coming out. if you would like to know anymore please don’t hesitate to ask one of my carers.

community earlier this year research found that food prices are rising four times faster than the average person’s income* and families are finding it more and more difficult to eat healthily on a budget. But a local expert on healthy eating says it’s possible to trim your shopping bills and your waistline with the help of a new recipe book from weightloss organisation Slimming World called Family Feasts on a Budget. Christine, who runs the Tickhill Slimming World group every week at the Parish Room says: “People often think that eating well is expensive but, with a little know-how, it’s possible to cook tasty food that the whole family will love and that’s good for them too.” Family Feasts on a Budget includes a collection of more than 50 delicious money-wise meals for four. The recipes, including meat, veg and fish dishes, all cost £6 or less – that’s £1.50 or less per person – and show that eating healthily doesn’t have to break the bank.

Money-wise meals for the whole family All of the recipes in Family Feasts on a Budget have been created in line with Slimming World’s wellknown Food Optimising healthy eating plan. The plan is based on the science of energy density and satiety, meaning slimmers can fill up on healthy, everyday foods that are low in calories yet satisfying. Slimmers are encouraged to cook meals from scratch using ‘Free Foods’, which can be enjoyed freely on the plan without weighing or counting, like lean meat, poultry, fish, vegetables, pasta and rice so they can whip up a variety of fabulously filling meals and get the
most from their shopping budget. Christine adds: “Whatever your family’s tastes – and however fussy they are – you’re bound to discover dishes they’ll love in this new book. From classics like bolognese, Chicken chasseur and Fisherman’s pie through to new ideas to serve up including Paprika pork, Turkey burgers with tzatziki and Tuna and salad pasta, the recipes suit all cooking abilities. Every recipe is accompanied by a photo of the finished article to help novices know what to expect and to tempt the tastebuds too. Whether it’s choosing cheaper cuts of meat or breathing new-life into your leftovers, there are lots of clever ways to shop and slim on a shoestring,” Family Feasts on a Budget is available priced £4.95. everyone’s welcome to pop along to the Tickhill slimming World group at the Parish room every Thursday at & 7:30pm or for more information they can call Christine on 07825 686437. a singer songwriter with the unusual distinction of being a double bass player. Her songs are upbeat, lyrically optimistic and musically infectious. A sassy jazz singer, Kel’s performances are packed with humour, irony and a touch of mischief, with songs representing a modern approach to jazz and blues , drawing on influences as diverse at Ella Fitzgerald and Bonnie Rait. Her band comprises guitar, keyboard and percussion - I have seen this band and highly recommend it to you… they are brilliant. £8.50 adult £4 child.

A Bumper Harvest at Estfeld
on our return to school in september we were greeted by a wonderful sight in our school garden. as the weather had been so fine and we had been fortunate enough to have so many volunteers to water the raised beds and poly tunnel during the holidays, our flowers and vegetables had flourished. Thank you to everybody who watered the garden, especially Mrs Whitaker who works with the gardening club throughout the school year and Mr Jerrison our caretaker, for their time and care.
Our harvest was a bumper one! Beans, carrots, sweetcorn, beetroot, marrows, pumpkins, leeks, squash, peppers, tomatoes and pears, had all grown and ripened over the long Summer holiday. Our gardening club reaped their reward – delicious home-grown fruit vegetables. Some of the gardening club pupils entered their produce in the relevant section of the Horticultural Society Show and were successful in winning a rosette.
We also held a sale of produce outside school which raised more than £56 for the gardening fund. Thank you to all who supported the sale.
Tickhill Horticultural Society Show Many of our pupils and staff entered something that they had grown or produced at the Horticultural society show. some of our pupils were winners in their category and proudly wore their rosettes to school on the following Monday morning. Well done to them all. However regardless of whether they won their category or not, we are extremely proud of all the children that entered a class, as in doing so they are making a positive contribution to their village, and as we saw on the day, Tickhill has much to be proud of.
Congratulations to everybody involved in the organisation of the show. As always it was a great success and the committee must be very proud that the show is still proving a popular community event after more than a quarter of a century. Congratulations to everybody that entered something into one 30 30

The success of our day would not have been possible had it not been for the generosity of al the shop owners and of others who provided prizes for the tombola stall, friends who made delicious cakes and tea ladies who served afternoon teas, plus the kitchen staff for their dedication at the sink. My friend who provided hand-made greetings cards and my sister who sold her own made jams and chutney. A special thanks to Richard and Judy from Eastfield Farm for allowing us to use their car parking facilities keeping access to the garden safe. From the result of the excellent coverage by the Rotherham advertiser it has led to further coverage in most of the national newspapers which then led to our appearance on the BBC One Show and BBC Look North. This gives great publicity for next year’s event. Please watch this space. Absolutely Fantastic!

Tickhill & Bawtry Probus Club as the long summer days shorten into autumn many of us face the prospect of fewer days out and about, more time in the house and more pressure to reduce the seemingly endless list of jobs which must (?) be done! an escape plan is needed and many of the retired professional and businessmen in Tickhill and Bawtry find the answer in membership of Probus. We meet at the Millstone Hotel on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of each month starting at 10 for 10.30am. Simply Voices Presents simply voices presents You’ve Got a Friend: raising money for Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity In December 2012 my family and I, and our many friends, were shocked to get the devastating news that I had cancer. It put an abrupt end to my involvement in Christmas concerts both with Simply Voices, the large Doncaster mixed choir I run with my husband, Stephen Burnage, and with Barnburgh Male Voice Choir, and suddenly normal life was put on hold. Having initially been very well cared for in Doncaster Royal Infirmary, my treatment was taken over by Weston Park Cancer Hospital and a journey of determination began. In May of this year, I was given the wonderful news that the cancer had completely disappeared. Ever since my diagnosis, our family had talked about giving
something back by presenting a massed choir concert to raise funds for the Weston Park Cancer Charity. The concert is taking place on Wednesday 16th October at 7.30pm in St Peter in Chains Church, Chequer Road, Doncaster. We are delighted that three other choirs will be joining Simply Voices on the night: The Doncaster Wheatsheaf Singers, Barnburgh Village Singers and Barnburgh Male Voice Choir. There will also be items by The Giocoso String Quartet in its debut performance, and other guests. Last but not least, the evening will be compered by Gervase Phinn. The bonfire will be lit at 5-30pm with two superb firework shows to follow. The first display will start at 6-00pm with the second after a short interval at approximately 6-45pm. entrance is free but donations are encouraged, and as ever, all the proceeds will go towards deserving causes within the local community and around the world. The Cricket Club bar will of course be open so bringing your own cans etc. will not be allowed. Novelties and glowsticks will be available for the kids (big and small) and the Cricket Club will be organising a barbeque so don’t have too much tea. Finally I think pedestrian training is really good for year 4 because we are learning to walk across roads by ourselves like walking to the shops and if there are roads, how to cross them safely.

Hello! My name is Mrs sanderson and i have the pleasure of being the new Head teacher at st Mary’s. My first month has flown by and i have really enjoyed getting to know the children, staff, parents and Governors. i have been made to feel very welcome. Right from day one I have been impressed by the children; their manners, courtesy and positive attitudes to learning are exemplary. Excellent relationships within school and a very caring ethos provide St Mary’s with a strong foundation from which we can move forward together. The next few months will see some changes at St Mary’s. I would like to develop parent partnerships as well as raise the profile of St Mary’s within the community. Changes to the classroom learning environments have already started and will continue throughout the year. This is the beginning of an exciting journey for St Mary’s. I hope that together we can really make a difference!

ROAD WORKS They took a little gravel
And they took a little tar And several ingredients imported from afar. They levelled it and rolled it And when they went away They said they had a surface That would last for many a day. But men came with picks and smote it To lay a water main And then they sent some workmen To put it back again. To lay computer cable They took it up once more And then they put it back again Just where it was before. They took it up for cables To feed the electric light And then they put it back again And packed it good and tight. They dug a trench for conduit To serve the telephone And then they put it back again As hard as any stone. Some workmen from the Council Then came to find a leak And blocked the road with rubble For the best part of a week And when they cleared the rubbish To let the traffic pass Another hole was started By the men from British Gas. Next week a massive digger 40 40

Celebrating Fantastic Exam results in 2013! The school is absolutely delighted by the tremendous achievement of our students this year.
Amy Horsfield and Lucia Knight
Hannah Robson and Abby Boyle
All of our students have left Year 11 with a qualification and this year is the college’s highest ever percentage of students gaining 5 A* - Cs including English and Maths, an increase of 15% from last year. There were a record number of outstanding achievements by individual students: Adam Whitehouse led the way by achieving the college’s first ever A* with Distinction in Further Maths. This is an award given only to the very highest achievers in the country. There were numerous excellent results including our highest number of students achieving ten or more GCSEs at grade A*/A: Emily Satchwell 14, Abbey Boyle 13, Emily Hutchinson 12, Adam Whitehouse 12, Emily Milner 11, Caitlin Whitmore 11, Daniel Phillips 10, Lucia Knight 10 and Lucy Rhodes 10. We are also delighted with the success of our Sixth Form students again this year. There was a significant rise (10% higher than last year) in students achieving the top grades of A and B. Furthermore, the percentage of students achieving 3 or more A levels has risen by 14%. There were many outstanding success stories: Lauren Cole, who will be studying medicine at The University of Leicester, gained 4xA and 1x A* while Robyn Cusworth’s 2xA and 2xA* grades have earned her a place at Queen Mary’s in London to read English. Olivia Wakefield (2xA* and 2xB) joins the History Faculty at The University of Leeds, Joe Lidster (1xA* 2xB 1xC) will be studying Business and Management at Newcastle University and Katy Goodwin (1xA and 3xB) will read Law at Sheffield University. John Brookfield (1A, 1B and 2xC) will study Mechanical Engineering at the University of Northumbria. The Year 13 students have chosen a variety of pathways Daniel Phillips and Sam Bell to follow, from starting their careers in the workplace to continuing into higher education to follow a range of academic and vocational courses. We would like to thank staff, students, parents and carers for their total commitment and unstinting effort, which has resulted in this significant and continuing improvement in achievement at Sir Thomas Wharton Community College.

Tickhill Horticultural Society The 26th annual show on september 7th was opened by the vicar of st Mary’s church the revd Chris Betson, who also presented the trophies later in the afternoon. The show covers a wide range, with fruit, vegetables, flowers, floral art, baking, preserves, needlework and other handicrafts, photography, art and children’s sections. Following on from the reintroduction of a Pet Show last year we had three classes, “Happiest Pet”, “Scruffiest Pet” and “Most Loveable Pet”. It attracted a range of dogs, a number of rabbits and a tortoise. Everyone seemed to enjoy it and our thanks are due to Mrs Penny Britain for the difficult task of judging the animals. After a worrying forecast early in the week the rain held off apart from a couple of late showers. So the pets stayed dry and visitors were able to sit outside enjoying the lively music from the Bramley Youth Jazz Band and trying their luck with the tombola run by the Estfeld School Ladies. Thank you once again for your continued support and the very welcome contribution you made. Thanks also to the young people of Phoenix Explorer Scouts who assisted the organising committee in setting up the Show on Friday evening and Saturday morning, assisting through the afternoon with the gate money and catering, and then helping to prepare the Church and schoolroom for the Harvest Festival service and celebration the following day. As usual we had a range of top quality judges for the various sections, all very experienced, and all very complimentary of the overall standard of entries. Many trophies and other awards were supported by cash and voucher prizes and we are indebted to our many sponsors for their continued assistance. 42 42

Tickhill Neighbourhood plan When you read this, the draft Neighbourhood Plan (NP) will have nearly completed its consultation period on the Town Council’s website; the last date for making formal representations before the NP goes to doncaster MBC is october 11th. after suitable amendments in response to comments made, it moves on for a similar consultation period on doncaster Council’s website. This means that you can still offer your suggestions for improving the NP up to a date in late November/early december. Please take this opportunity; the NP is on the website and in the library. Comment can be made either by e mail to tickhillnp@
gmail.com or by letter to Tickhill Neighbourhood Plan, c/o Mrs. M. Cannings-Clough, 24 vine road, Tickhill, dN11 9eP. There are also comment slips in the library which can be completed and left with the librarian. However, it’s also important to be clear what the NP can and cannot do. Localism sounds fine but the new powers are actually very limited and they don’t bring money. (neither additional nor any transferred from the borough council). Our aim has always been to make the best of what is on offer for Tickhill but it’s important not to think that major improvements will follow quickly. Effectively there are two arms to the NP. The first is about planning and provides policies which, if approved, have to be operated by Doncaster MBC when dealing with planning

It covers such issues as the reduction of through traffic, improved pedestrian safety, enhancement of the historic and natural environment, improved community facilities and recreational opportunities, more allotments and a cleaner town. Garden View
The Late Show Good planning and preparation can make this time of year a dramatic moment in the garden, but if you feel your outside space lacks autumn pizzazz, the work for next year’s spectacle begins right now. You still have time to plant late flowering herbaceous perennials and hardy grasses, both of which have beautiful flowers in bloom right now, but aim to do this at the beginning of the month. experiment with vivid red Helenium such as ‘rubinzwerg’ which look fantastic when planted in front of the biscuit coloured flower spikes of Calamagrostis ‘Karl Foerster’, or try the much lower, but no less dramatic double pink flowers of Colchicum ‘Water lily’ towards the front of the border.
another species which offers colour and texture to match this diverse range of plants. As I sit in the autumn garden right now, perched on a cold metal bench, I can admire the wonderful tall arching stems of Stipa gigantea swaying in the gentle breeze. Standing proud since July, this majestic grass will carry on performing until the heavy snow flattens the delicate oat-like flower spikes.
If the subtlety of the grassy flowers are not enough to sustain your need for autumn colour, then try Aster ‘October Skies’ for a splash of late season lilac. The daisy like flowers are produced in abundance over a long period of time, and the great news is that it’s happy growing on dry poor soil in sun or even
part shade. It won’t get much bigger than 45cm tall so doesn’t need staking and the colours seem to intensify as the light levels fall. As we progress further into the month, the bright yellows, oranges and reds synonymous with October, slowly deepen before fading to a muddy brown. As the aroma of decay intensifies, I notice the evening light fades faster of late, as the autumn sun sets on another gardening day. Happy Gardening. T

Make chutney from the left over autumn harvest such as pears, apples and carrots. Stewed and pickled fruit and vegetables make great personalised gifts for Christmas. Sow broad beans now if you have a light soil or raised beds, and you will have an earlier crop next year. Give them protection with fleece to keep out the worst of the weather TICKHILL TODAY
Move tender plants in to a heated greenhouse, or pot them on and bring indoors Continue to plant spring flowering bulbs including Alliums, Daffs, Crocus and Iris. Delay planting Tulips until next month. Collect seed from the garden and dry in paper bags. Sow them next spring and if you have too many give them away.
Until next time, happy gardening,

Even then I will not qualify as a true Tickhillian (or Tickhiller, as some people would have it). It is not possible to identify a genuine old inhabitant just by looking or by casual acquaintance. And this sort of talk can go on for hours. The speakers, between them, knew everybody, and what’s more, knew most of their private business, where they lived, how old they were, who all their relatives were and what happened to them. This is total recall and local oral history on a grand scale. It is a treat to overhear these exchanges which we incomers cannot hope to emulate. We can only stand on the sidelines and admire the performance. With today’s more fragmented society when people leave their home town to go to university or find work elsewhere, this kind of local memory store is unlikely to be replicated which will be a loss. INDIA
at Wadworth Primary both before and after the summer break, all classes from year one to year six studied india with their new teachers. From indian culture to coloured saris, we enjoyed learning about it all. Year one were enthusiastic about all the fun activities they took park in like making decorative flags and bookmarks. They also tasted Indian foods. Their favourite things were colouring in rangoli and henna patterns. Year two were delighted to find out lots of fascinating things about India including… making peacocks, dancing and looking at pictures of Indian lifestyle. Using chalk on the playground and making information booklets were two of their favourite things. Year three were terribly excited to meet their new teacher and were looking forward to learning new things! They really enjoyed looking at maps and comparing the distance from the UK to India, they did some maths and created lines of symmetry. Year four took pleasure in everything they did like painting tiger masks, creating tiger poems, Indian dancing and much more. Year five really enjoyed their recent weeks of research on India. They learnt about the monsoon, they also compered Britain’s rain levels to India’s. They really enjoyed making Indian rangoli welcome patterns. Their favourite activity was designing and creating their own Indian jewellery. They also enjoyed turning an ancient Indian myth into an entertaining play scene. Year six relished their experiences from learning about India. They learnt about Vedic maths and made silhouette puppets to help tell a story. Their most enjoyable activities were creating straw window patterns and doing research about Indian culture. As you can see, every year group had a fantastic time learning about India and because we have been working with our new teachers, we have been ready to learn from day 1 in the Autumn term! amber & Hayley Year 6 T 54 54

. . . but not TODAY
at the time of writing it is too early to report on our opening meeting of the 2013/14 season; nevertheless plenty has been going on – some of it behind the scenes. On 13th August we held our first ever Local History Walk round the centre of Tickhill to which the public was invited. The walk was fully subscribed and 25 people spent an enjoyable hour learning perhaps a little about the history of the streets and buildings they normally take for granted. A second hour was spent having an excellent pie and peas supper in the Millstone. This one is entitled “Horace Brown MM, a First World War Hero and a Lifelong Friendship” and records the unlikely friendship between Corporal Horace Brown, a native of Tickhill, who worked for many years at Maltby Colliery and Lt C A Macartney a commissioned officer with a public school and Cambridge University background who met because they were both uncomfortably close to an exploding German shell during WW1 This paper, our 16th will be on sale at our October meeting and thereafter in KSM Castlegate. We thank Harold Brown’s

community We have had two very successful environmental days, (Litter picks and general tidy ups), and i would like to say a big thank you to all who volunteered in the arduous task of litter picking including a group of 11 young members of our community and their mums. it was truly a lovely day that ended in chips and strawberries at the Pavilion! We have also had 8 afternoons dedicated to Diversionary Activities. A big thank you to D.M.B.C. officers: Julie Bibby and Steve Racjan. We could not have done it without them. Also I feel it fit to mention my own daughter who supported Julie and Steve. I am hopeful of securing further activities centred round the October half term and also some Saturday afternoons. I will make sure the details are put on the Community Page. We have at last started our ‘litter picker person’ in Tickhill. At the moment it is being set up by a volunteer councillor. The barrow has been delivered and is continually in use. This however is not an excuse for more litter to be dropped and I ask you all to work with us rather than against us. The recreation ground is by far the worst area and D.M.B.C. officers have been alerted to the situation and will be issuing fines/litter picking duties in due course. It is probably fit to mention that during one of our Environmental days a younger member of our community was issued with a fixed penalty fine. If you see our volunteer litter picker please do not hesitate to offer room in your wheelie bin for a bag of rubbish, it will all help towards the cause. I would also like to ask the shop keepers to try and sweep their own shop front, it is better that we work together. Next month is our late night shopping event and Christmas lights turn on. I am hoping for another wonderful display of lights and lots of Townsfolk to enjoy the festivities. I will be running the count the number of lights competition again and this year will the Dome on the Buttercross will be the item to guess. I will be visiting each school in the near future to formally launch the “Tickhill Town Council Child of the Year Award”. I am personally offering a small bursary to go with the award and if any resident 58 58

Tickhill Town Council - OCTOBER 2013 would like to donate to the fund it will be held as a separate fund for years to come. We have a lot of talent in Tickhill and we should take the opportunity to celebrate this. After all children are our futures. Just one other point to mention and that is parking in St Mary’s Car Park. I would kindly ask you not to park in the disabled parking spaces unless you are disabled. When you recklessly park in a space not meant for you, just think of those who are less fortunate than you. They would gladly change places with an able bodied person!! If you see any fly tipping, dog foul, anti social behaviour or loose kerb stones please report it to D.M.B.C. on 01302 736000. Unless it is reported it will not become a statistic. Our town is worth keeping a pleasant place to live, we are only custodians for the next generation. T
