WAKING UP IN PARADISE
After a long night of dusting off your dancing feet and a slightly chilly sleep, the sun’s first rays caress the fields again, slowly teasing campers out of their tents. Whether it was a restoring rest or a restless cat nap; it’s smiles all around, because waking up at DreamVille means an instant energy boost. A morning walk around the campsite, a freshly-brewed coffee, a quick dip in the pool or a refreshing shower – you happily transferred your morning routines to your home-for-the-weekend. Here’s how some cheerful campers got into the groove for their festive day ahead!
Jake from Australia is on a mission: “I want to go and celebrate life with a new group of people every day!” He runs up to a girl and puts his hat on her head. Though slightly startled, Heather from the US immediately welcomes Jake into her group of friends.
Joana loves to work up a sweat in the morning, that much is clear. This busy bee from Portugal plans to wake up early to work out every day this weekend. “It just makes me glow all day – and I feel confident on the dance floor after I’ve worked out.” You do you, girl!

“We love to wake up and feel the mist of this DreamVille fountain on our skin – but we accidentally sat in a puddle,” one of the two German Julia’s laugh. The two might want to rethink this part of their morning routine for tomorrow.

Dillan, Olin, Malik and Zeth love to start their day with the Tomorrowland Today. “It’s important to know what’s going on, so we read up on all the news. We are really looking forward to Tiësto, we hope he plays all the classics.”
Anna and Ray from Switzerland have teamed up for a more or less friendly round of beerpong on their first morning at DreamVille. “It’s not all fun and games, as the losers have to buy the first round of beers,” Ray explains. “Please don’t let it be me, again.” Anna laughs.
THE FRESHEST BREAKFAST At the Farmhouse, you’ll find all you need for a fresh start to the day, from a hearty breakfast to freshly brewed barista coffee. Open every day from 08h00-14h00, you can make a reservation at a time that suits you, whether you’re an early bird or a late riser, and enjoy breakfast at your own leisure.
Jon, Diego and Carlos come from Spain and are all surgeons, so they know how important it is to start with a proper meal in the morning. “The Farmhouse has so many options, we really had to take some time to choose – now we’re super hungry!”
“I’ve already seen some pretty horrendous sunburns this summer – and I don’t plan on letting that happen to me!” Charlotte from the Netherlands rubs and rubs some more. No matter how much you like to tan, make sure to lather up that suncream!

Victoria and Laura from France have been looking out over the campsite for quite some time. “We just love the view from up here. Watching everyone wake up and feeling the energy rise over the fields below instantly lifts my mood.”
A healthy start to the day Surrounded by colourful fields full of tents, Alpro hosts the breakfast bar at DreamVille. At this bar, there’s smoothies and bowls rather than cocktails and bites. The iced coffees, cups with pink smoothies and breakfast bowls are a feast for the eyes as well as the tastebuds… and moreover, they’ll help you rise and shine before another long day at the festival. This is just the start of the day Anna from Poland needed after the Gathering. “My sister in Germany is a big fan of Alpro, so I needed to try their stuff,” she explains. “The pancakes are just to die for! REFLECT THE LOVE, RETURN THE SHOT
There’s no better way to wake up than a friendly sports match against your friends – and this year, there’s the entirely new option to play padel at DreamVille’s Chillout area. For 24 Pearls per hour, you can play a 2v2 match with your friends on one of the seven regular courts – or on the newly built Tomorrowland-themed court. During and after Tomorrowland, the Tomorrowland Foundation will donate 1 euro per player per hour to Pegode, a local organisation that runs assisted living homes. A splendid way to have some healthy fun and help out fellow humans in need, in short.
Mitch, Alex, Emily and Nolan enjoy prepping their outfits in the morning. “We found these two small Koalas in our hut, no clue how they got here.” The Americans decide to use the koalas in their outfit. “Maybe they can be our guides!”

Thomas, Lasse, Anders and Michael from Denmark can be heard from miles away. “We are training our reaction time, to make sure we stay in sync with the rhythm. We also use it to decide who makes the next round of drinks and who has to do push-ups.” That’s certainly a creative way way to work out!

Floating in one of the ponds at the festival site, it has an enchanting, bohemian vibe to it: bright, colourful and airy. It is also where Patrick from the United States and Annie from Germany are hanging out. When it comes to musical storytelling, the absolute highlight of the soundtrack to their (love) life is a Martin Garrix track. Annie explains: “Martin Garrix played ‘Animals’ at Coachella a couple of years ago. It was our first festival together and that’s how we found out we have the same music taste. That’s definitely our love language!”

FIRST REFLECTIONS A secret for years, now finally unveiled: the place where the Reflection of Love unfolds, where the energy of thousands of People of Tomorrow is harnessed to create an eternal beacon of love onto the heavens – to the City of Forever. The extravagant splendour of the Mainstage is a sight to behold each year, but this year, it is more enveloping and overwhelming than ever, —all gleaming white-and-gold luster. So how did people feel when they first stepped across the crest of the Mainstage amphitheater, looking down on the Stairway to Unity upon the City’s exquisitely shaped curves? Here you can find out!

“Doesn’t it look amazing?” These girls have certainly made up their minds on how they feel about the Mainstage. “There are just so many elements and tiny details to discover, it will remain exciting and mysterious. Every time you take a look at it, you discover something new!”
“Even though we’ve never been here before, it feels like coming home – that’s the magic of Tomorrowland.” Nathalie explains that she has been wanting to go since 2013. “Seeing it now for the first time, I am just taken aback. That’s how I know my love for the festival is real!”

Everybody wanted to get a word in on how they felt about their first bonding session with the Mainstage. Some of the words used to describe the impressive white structure: “Amazing, special, unbelievable, huge, unreal, magical, extraordinary, inspiring and magnificent.”
“I feel instantly drawn to it, I just can’t help it!” Manolya says about the Mainstage, as she is ready to be absorbed into the dancing crowd. Ana and Michelle add: “This view…it’s like a good coffee in the morning. I feel instantly awakened!”

2022 marks the return of the great Hardwell, the world’s former number one DJ who helped shape the EDM-genre as we know it today. The Dutch producer, widely known to be one of most exceptional mavericks in electronic music, announced his indefinite break from producing and touring just under four years ago in order to focus on his personal life. Hardwell’s fans knew the break wouldn’t be forever, as he insisted on “coming back stronger”. Besides, he was probably a bit too young and energetic to retire, right? The title of Hardwell’s current world tour and homonymous upcoming album fit neatly into that picture; Rebels Never Die - out September 9th - will represent the Hardwell we all know combined with some new flavours that feel like the twenty-twenties through and through. The four tracks officially known to the outside world so far, point into the direction of a smooth hybrid between techno, trance and big room. His new sound is deeper than ever, yet still powered by the incredible build-ups and sonic suspense we’ve all come to know Robbert van de Corput for. Hardwell’s long-awaited return to Tomorrowland will be a legendary one, with new edits to make it as unique as can be. Let’s learn more about the return of one of the 21st century’s biggest musical geniuses.
“I had really grown as an artist, much more than I had ever expected. But I never grew as a person because I was always focused on being Hardwell 24/7.”
Tomorrowland is back and the People of Tomorrow are more excited than ever. What does it feel like to finally play here again this year? “It’s amazing to see everyone together again, to experience that feeling of unity at the biggest dance festival in the world.”
don’t even want to touch, but I decided to just go for it and turn it into an album. You could also say ‘legends live forever’, but that sounds kind of corny, which is why I decided to turn it around and call it Rebels Never Die. I like approaching something from the dark side, like they do in Star Wars, haha.”
We heard you brought your mother and grandmother to your show with you last week. What did they think? “My parents have seen me play many times throughout my career, as I started DJ’ing well before I was eighteen years old. My parents always came with me because I was too young to enter clubs by myself. But for my grandma, seeing me play is a rare occasion. We all live in Breda in the Netherlands, which is really close to Tomorrowland. It takes longer to drive to Amsterdam, the capital city of my own country, than it takes to get here. My grandmother loved being here, as she is a huge fan who knows everything about music. She’s a true EDM-grandma.”
There are two questions everyone wants to know the answer to. First one: what made you decide to withdraw from the scene back in 2018? “I had really grown as an artist, much more than I had ever expected. But I never grew as a person because I was always focused on being Hardwell 24/7. Working on music, playing shows, 200 flights a year.. And in the meantime, my best friends were becoming dads. They had the normal lives; something I didn’t have. I just wanted to be Robbert again. I wanted to spend time with my family and friends instead of always being the artist travelling everywhere. I still think it’s one of the best decisions I ever made.”
The words Rebels Never Die seem to refer to your break and your eventual return, is that right? Can you tell us something more about it? “I’ve never put it that way but I like the thought. The real story is a little different, though. People always tell me I’m a rebel when I’m on stage and in the decisions I make music-wise; that’s the idea behind the title. The album is a melting pot of styles —genres many DJs and producers

You can guess the second question: what was key in your decision to return to touring earlier this year? “I never hated making music or being on the road. I love music and I spent a lot of my time in the studio working on new music during my sabbatical. At some point, I had so much music ready that it got me thinking: the time has come to do a tour again. Things are so different now, as
I decided to focus on the music that I’ve always wanted to hear at a festival myself. Being a DJ is about pleasing the crowd, but you can do it in an educational way or in a way where you only play the hit songs. I think I found the right balance between those two now.” What did you miss most during your years away from the DJ booth? “So much. My colleagues, the environment, the crowd, the energy, being on stage, the love and support you get from the fans. Also: being able to make a track on a flight and to play it to a crowd just two hours later, immediately finding out people love it. To create something and to play it right away is one of the greatest things about being an artist, there really are no words to describe that feeling. Over the past few years, I was just making music hoping that people were going to like it, but I had no way of finding out as I was by myself in the studio.” Did not being able to test your music for so long, make you nervous to finally try it on a crowd now? “That would be an understatement. I was unbelievably nervous for my first shows because I had decided to only play my new music and none of my old songs. I could have made the decision to play 50% old and 50% new music, but I felt like I wouldn’t be making a statement that way. To me, it was important to let the world know: I’m returning with new music, this is it, this is Rebels Never Die.”

As this wine was created by Vallformosa & Tomorrowland themselves, this is the obvious way to start your wine journey here. Its inviting aromas of brioche, white apricot and citrus go beautifully with food offerings like Oysters and Lobster Rolls – luxurious, isn’t it? If you’d like to go for something less fancy to pair it with, Chef Xavier recommends a simple Chicken Burger. We couldn’t believe it, but it works so well!
By now you’ve surely noticed that Tomorrowland is full of a wide variety of great foods, from simple but delicious Belgian fries to proper gastronomic offerings at the various restaurants. If you know where to look, however, you’ll also find a selection of fine wines – which are not just delicious drinks in and of themselves, but will also harmonize beautifully with various dishes found around the grounds. Xavier Van Hecke, chef at Tomorrowland’s own Mesa restaurant in Antwerp, went with us on a tour of some of the wines available at the festival, explaining a thing or two about how they taste and what to pair them with. Having never cooked at Tomorrowland himself, what he encountered was as much a surprise to Xavier as it was to us – but happily so, as he encountered some fantastic flavours!

THE MEMOIRS OF ADAM K One World Radio started as a one-off project to celebrate the 15-year anniversary of Tomorrowland. The idea proved to be such a success, however, that they just kept on going, —and thankfully so. During those long lockdown months, One World Radio was the glue that held the worldwide Tomorrowland community together. As presenter Adam K puts it: “We were a beacon of hope.” This year, they have their own hangout at the festival again, from which they’re broadcasting continuously – and festivalgoers can pop in for a visit as well.
WILL YOU MARRY ME? “During the first weekend, we had a guy proposing to his girlfriend right here in the studio. It was one of the many expressions of romantic love here at Tomorrowland - I discovered two other proposals on the Holy Grounds through Instagram! A raver going by the name of Victor Garcia de Dios got inspired by what he heard and asked if he could come into the studio before and after he got married to his wife live on site!”

When I asked him about it, he explained that he’d asked his followers on Twitter for an original football shirt from the Brazilian national team - also referred to as Seleção Canarinho - to wear during his Mainstage performance. The team’s famous number 3, Lucio, offered him the shirt that he wore during the 2002 World Cup, which Brazil won. Surely, such offers only come to famous DJs!”
“19-year-old DJ Amber Broos arrived at the studio right after she played her first-ever Tomorrowland set. Not only that, it was also the first time in her life she actually set foot on the Holy Grounds, as she was simply too young before the pandemic hit. They figured that as he hadn’t been on air before his set, he would right after. He’s such a humble and nice guy. He once famously and jokingly called himself a social media sensation, but now that he’s a father, he’s just trying to get the balance right.”
MARTIN GARRIX AS A FESTIVAL GOER “When Martin Garrix came into the studio, we talked about when we first met, back in 2013. He was wasn’t a famous artist yet, only having made his way to Tomorrowland to party while DJs like David Guetta played ‘Animals’ in their sets. On air, he reminisced about how he felt back then. He remembered running around Tomorrowland for the first time; his mind was blown, like he was in heaven. He wished the entire world was like Tomorrowland!”

Her laptop stolen was stolen in Ibiza, but luckily her music was recovered in London before her show. WISDOM DREAMS ARE OUR REALITIES IN WAITING In front of the Freedom Stage by Bud, we meet a beautiful couple from Colombia named Alejandra and Daniel. “This is our first time on Tomorrowland,” Alexandra explains. “I’m seeing all sorts of new, amazing stuff – and my eyes immediately fell on this gigantic dreamcatcher.” Behind her, we find an enormous waterfall with a dreamcatcher in front of it. Her boyfriend Daniel adds: “It got even better now that they’re telling us we can submit our wish and have the chance to make it come true.” No one knows exactly what magic is going on behind the scenes, but the way the Dreamcatcher by Bud
works is surprisingly simple: you just scan your bracelet, fill out your dream in a form, take a picture at the photo stand, receive your picture via email... and then you wait and see whether the Dreamcatcher will make your biggest wish come true. Alejandra and Daniel couldn’t wait to see, and were surprisingly candid about their dream. “You’re lucky we don’t believe in bad luck for telling you,” Alexandra explains. “We wished for free tickets to Tomorrowland each year for the rest of our lives. How fantastic would that be?”
LOVE UP IN THE AIR
MIXING THINGS UP There is no better feeling than that sense of belonging you get on a dancefloor. A place where everyone, regardless of identity, can assemble to express themselves without inhibitions. Tomorrowland and Absolut have come together to create a commitment toward a more diverse and inclusive Tomorrow with the initiative called United We Dance, aiming to create real impact. Part of this is putting six artists from underrepresented backgrounds in the spotlight: self-made female Brazilian producer Carola, nonbinary transsexual multitalent Mandidextrous, Black pansexual non-binary artist Moore Kismet, female Taiwanese breakout star RayRay, Odssey, who uses his autism to fuel his creative process, and Jana Vitiligo, who has claimed her autoimmune condition as positive part of her identity. By offering these six trailblazers a platform, United We Dance aims to increase representation of their respective backgrounds and stimulate a more diverse Tomorrow. At the Amare Ferris wheel you can get a bird’s eye view of Tomorrowland from the highest point in the attraction, named after everyone’s favourite Brussels Airlines aeroplane. It’s a great place for lovers to get lost in the enchanting view as well as in each other’s loving gaze. Also want to take a magical ride yourself, perhaps with the love of your life? The Amare Ferris wheel is located right behind the Freedom stage – but then again, you can’t really miss it from wherever you are on the Holy Grounds. And the best thing? Tickets are free!

Roaming the grounds of Tomorrowland is one big adventure of discovery. It’s the combination of the grand and the obscure that makes this weekend so special. Tucked deep inside one of the tunnels to the Mainstage – right where the restrooms are, actually – is where you’ll find one very special dance floor. Behind the decks is a man who has dedicated his entire life to DJ’ing in toilets. René Opsedee aka the WC DJ started his career playing Belgium’s bigger clubs, including the world-famous FUSE club in Brussels, but feels much better at home in the place we all go every now and then to release the pressure. It’s a place where old-fashioned interaction between the dancers still exists and René wouldn’t have his career any other way. Welcome to the fascinating world of one of the most engaging DJs in the industry. “I started DJ’ing in toilets out of discontent with my friends’ music tastes. All that bang, bang, bang techno they play every day, I just got fed up with it,” says René. Tomorrowland’s official WC DJ is a real rebel, but a lovely one. Whenever the main DJs play slow music, he’ll play something fast like ska, the uptempo sun-drenched style from Jamaica. But obviously, it’s the other way around most of the time. “Of course, mainstage DJs usually play fast stuff and then I play it slow. I love slowing down songs that are meant to be played at 130 BPM to 100 BPM. Now that is a whole different experience. It makes trumpets sound really dreamy, for example.” Call it a surprise effect, but people generally get really excited when they see a DJ play in the restrooms. They’ll start dancing without knowing it, or they may stare at the honest music lover who is out there just doing his job. You might see many kinds of strange behaviour and it may even get a little pervy sometimes. Luckily, René is a man of principles. “My rules are simple: strictly no sex in the booth. I did have a mother and her daughter come to me once asking for a kiss while their husband or dad, depending how you
look at it, was having a good time in the main room. That kind of thing I have no problem with at all.” René is a genuine music lover and has a broad taste in music, but sometimes when he’s booked to play the restrooms, he is required to “play music so bad I want to hide behind the booth.” Obviously, Tomorrowland is not among these places, and the good thing is, he’s been booked to play the Mainstage toilets no less than nine times this month. “Here I get to do what I really love,” says René, as he plays a classic ‘80s slow jam by British outfit Imagination. “I play it all slow, but the genres can be totally different, from weird edits of well-known tracks to Latin rhythms like cumbia and reggae cuts by people like Bob Marley.” Now here comes the big question: would René ever give up his job as a toilet DJ were he to be asked to play the Mainstage? “The answer is decidedly no. I love playing in the toilets so much because of the way I can communicate with everyone around me. I’d rather play a set from somewhere deep down in the sewers than somewhere up in a booth high above the crowd.”
RENÉ’S BIG SURPRISE Let’s make sure René will have an even better time DJ’ing at the toilets today than he did yesterday. Everyone who loves a good but tiny party, come to the toilets in the tunnel on the right-hand side of the Mainstage (coming from the dancefloor) to show him some love by making the heart sign with your hands. From the northern suburbs of Amsterdam comes Q-dance, whose parties and festivals Defqon.1, Q-BASE, Qlimax, and X-Qlusive are all centred around the harder styles of electronic dance music. With their events, and particularly with Qlimax, Q-dance has sold out a wide range of stadium-sized venues in an exciting atmosphere that will no doubt be recreated at the Tomorrowland’s Freedom stage today. If you’d have to pick one promoter responsible for the huge and enduring popularity of hardstyle throughout the past decades, the safest bet is probably Q-dance. It’s very exciting in other words, to see these passionate people bring the biggest names within the harder styles to Boom; from The Prophet to Angerfist and from Adaro to B-Front.
With super strong releases year on year on year, Berlin’s excellent Afterlife Records has grown to become one of the most incredible and most respected imprints when it comes to uplifting, mind-bending techno. Music that truly brings you to another level, makes your feet go wonky, your head go woozy and makes your stomach absorb the bass. Obviously, they’re bringing some of the strongest artists from their stunning roster to Tomorrowland, including the young and talented Colyn, percussive techno boy wonders Mind Against, Belgium-based synth freak Melawati and of course Italy’s uncrowned kings of layered techno and Afterlife label bosses Tale of Us. Tomorrowland is a world apart and with Afterlife, Atmosphere will become its little own world within another world today.

Over the years, Tomorrowland’s Daybreak Sessions have become an institution in its own right. The concept: experienced DJs who are normally scheduled to play at peak times are invited to warm up like in the early days of their careers. With all the experience and musical knowledge they’ve gathered over the years, these warm-up sessions aren’t the support sets they used to play back in the day, though. Expect something like an overview of their musical journeys or a more chilled out set to start the day with. Laidback Luke brings a bit of both with his Laidback Luke presents Wayback Luke set.
As one the most admired EDM DJs amongst underground music heads, it’s not without reason that Laidback Luke holds a peculiar position between mainstream and indie scenes. He first started getting into dance music during the early nineties, when various genres of electronic music like techno, trance and house were championed at the very same raves. Like his regular One World Radio show by the same name, ‘Wayback Luke’ primarily presents music from that golden era of dance music. Unlike many other artists, who differentiated by adapting to specific musical styles, preferences and lifestyles Luke never lost his versatile approach to loving and playing electronic music from all genres and eras, with various intensities and tempos. Dutch DJ/producers Lucas & Steve are all over Tomorrowland. From their party-starting DreamVille set during the first weekend to their Mainstage performance today, the duo literally finds a way to rock every single setting. First discovered by Spinnin’ Records back in 2014, the two friends from the southern Dutch city of Maastricht have since released music with Sam Feldt, Pep & Rash, Jake Reese and singer-songwriter Janieck Devy. With remixes for Lost Frequencies, Hardwell, Felix Jaehn and Robin Schulz, they also have a proven track-record of reworking existing sounds into something brand new and unique, but with an unmistaken Lucas & Steve sound to it. Let’s dive into the lives of two of the most cheerful blokes on the current future house scene. You already played at The Gathering during the first weekend and are now back on the Mainstage. Are you excited? L: “After our set at The Gathering, we were so hyped! It was absolute fire. Even though Tomorrowland’s pre-party, we were still surprised by the raw energy there.” S: “Yeah, it was difficult to fall asleep after that one. Curious what it’s going be like after our Mainstage set today, ha! We’re mentally prepared, which is super important because the whole world is watching!” This year, the People of Tomorrow unite with the mantra ‘The Reflection of Love’. What does that mean to you? L: “The feeling of love is very present at most festivals, but only Tomorrowland gives it the the recognition it truly deserves.” S: “We feel so much love every time we play here – love for the music as well as for everybody present. If people become more mindful of the love that surrounds them and then take that feeling home, that would be amazing.” What is your division of labour like, who does what? S: “When we started out, I took care of our social media and Lucas’ focus was on the finance side of things. Those times are behind us, so now we can both focus on the music. When we’re

in the studio, still split tasks, though.” L: “We are on tour a lot, so we need to be very productive in the studio. I take care of a lot of the early production stages, while Steve is great at finishing tracks. After 15 years of working together, we just know each others’ strengths and cater to that.” At yesterday’s Love of Tomorrow Conference, the future of our planet was the key topic. If you were invited as a speaker there, what would you talk about? L: “For me, it would be about the way we eat, and specifically about the fact that we consume so much meat. Being more mindful of the amount of meat we eat, could really make a difference.” S: “At Tomorrowland, people from all around the world unite through music. That is so powerful. In the world at large, we need to find a way to listen to each other and find sympathy for the struggles of others. I’d talk about that.” Many people might assume you are brothers, but Steve, you actually have a twin brother. Have you ever considered swapping him for yourself ? S: “I already have! Don’t tell our teachers, but when we were in school, I was not that good at math and my brother wasn’t

great at English. So he took my place during math tests and I took over for him during English. I hope they don’t revoke our diplomas now!” Lucas, you have a very special connection to your dog Beau. Isn’t it time to give him some shine? L: “We talked about that a couple of days ago! When I was young, we had a dog who’d always howl along when my parents would listen to operas, especially during the high notes. I am 100% prepared to teach Beau to do that and then record a song with him singing. We can fix it with autotune, all the pop stars do that anyway, right?” During your set today, are you looking for special signs or flags in the crowd? L: “We always receive so much love from the crowd, —signs are an added bonus. So I would suggest to the people making signs to not direct it at us, but write your message to the millions of people watching from home, instead.” S: “I love that idea! Share the love, make a sign for the people watching to make them smile!”

With past and present residencies at Defected in the House, Ibiza Global Radio and Pacha on Tour, Belgium’s Delafino is a true connoisseur of smooth and glamorous house. Having enjoyed a broad musical upbringing where soulful genres such as funk and disco were an important influence with people like Barry White, Donna Summer and the Jackson family playing an important role, the Flanders born and bred DJ is more than capable of playing a mesmerising house set with slow jam influences. House music is a romantic feeling and Delafino gets the idea, so much is clear. How fitting, seeing that Tomorrowland is all about reflecting on love and happiness this year.

The idea of bringing celebrity artists together in supergroups is a phenomenon that’s been around for decades. Eric Clapton’s Cream is widely considered to be the first one and then bands like Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young and Them Crooked Vultures followed suit. No such mega combinations spring to mind when it comes to dance music apart from one spectacular duo: Duck Sauce, a project by New York house legend Armand van Helden and Canadian turntablist A-Trak. Van Helden holds a unique position in the scene, always producing beats that turn into irresistible ear worms without pushing too hard for it. On top of that, he’s also credited to be one of the first artists to produce and play tracks that laid the foundation for the speed garage genre. Stomping tracks like ‘You Don’t Know Me’, ‘The Funk Phenomena’ and ‘Witch Doctor’ will be in our hearts forever and at 52, the man doesn’t show any signs of slowing down. It’s no wonder then that for Duck Sauce – a project first presented to the world back in 2009 – he joined hands with another hyper energetic figure: Kanye West’s original tour DJ A-Trak. Sonically diverse as they are, Duck Sauce tracks always have two elements in common: funk and humour. The first ones that saw the light – ‘aNYway’ and ‘You’re Nasty’ – both have a capitalised ’N’ and ‘Y’, a reflection of love for the duo’s hometown New York City. The group’s biggest success came in the summer of 2010 with the track ‘Barbra Streisand’, based on a famous Boney M. sample, and prominently featured on the aptly named album ‘Quack’. Back in 2020, Duck Sauce’s comeback tour was announced and then postponed for obvious reasons. Thankfully it’s 2022 now, and with the Duck Sauce comeback tour in full swing, today the People of Tomorrow are living it!

A former resident DJ at legendary Belgian clubs such as Cherry Moon and La Rocca, Yves Deruyter started his career back in 1985, many years - and in some even cases decades - before most of us would set a step onto the dance floor. The Antwerp-born allround music head is potentially the most well-known among all veteran DJs from this country. Not only will his name be forever connected to the clubs he resided at, he’s also very much part of the Bonzai Records family, a chief outlet for some of the world’s biggest rave anthems throughout the nineties. Rave, trance and a little touch of early hardcore is what you’ll hear Deruyter play in his sets; it’s about time you close your eyes and start fist pumping.
Known for his dark sounds and overall uplifting spirit, Dutch hardstyle producer B-Front is known to vibe with his crowds to the level that there’s a real connection between the performer and the audience. In his work, this producer - who is known to his friends as Bob van der Palen - verges on the delicate balance between a certain eeriness and euphoria, always backed by relentless energy, of course. REFLECT THE MUSIC HOUSE The Reflection of Love is all about unity – a unity of loving souls, but also a gathering of widely disparate musical styles. For those who like to brush up on their musical knowledge, or explore a set of sounds they’ve not danced to before, it’s time to take a deep dive into the history of one of the many genres found at Tomorrowland. Today, let’s delve into the mother of all electronic music genres – house music.
As the famous lyrics go: ‘Not everyone understands house music, it’s a spiritual thing, a body thing, a soul thing.’ Dance music’s first incarnation was pioneered in the inner cities of the US, with Detroit representing the mind (spirit), Chicago the body, and New York the soul. During the ‘80s, house music was a logical continuation of ‘70s disco. In clubs like Paradise Garage (NY), the Warehouse and Muzik Box (both Chicago), DJs like Larry Levan, Frankie Knuckles and Ron Hardy laid the foundations for the electronic music of today, in all its shapes and colours. Come 2022, house music has birthed countless other genres and subgenres, some completely different, others staying true to the music’s original characteristics: four-to-the-floor beats with soulful, sexy and ecstatic sounds. Some of house music’s children have taken very different paths in life, however. There’s the power of big room house, the subtleness of funky house and microhouse, the melodic sounds of deep house, the steady, minimal pulse of tech house and the grooviness of soulful house. Today, you’ll find house in many different forms across many of Tomorrowland’s stages. From the tribal sounds of Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano to the carefully selected tracks of Brussels’ very own Red D, and from the German deep house by Âme to the subtly building crescendos unleashed by Maceo Plex – this music will make you shake your hips, shuffle your feet and raise your hands in sheer bliss.

The careers of Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike have been linked to Tomorrowland for a long time now. There was a time, however, when the young duo roamed around Belgium, playing the country’s local nightclubs. It wasn’t long before the brothers secured a presenting gig at a Belgian radio station, which resulted in them gaining a lot of notoriety. They then started touring the sunnier parts of Europe before finally settling in Ibiza. The rest is history, really; the duo have now been voted the world’s number one DJ twice, and past and current residencies include Ushuaïa, Amnesia and yes, you could also say they’re kind of residents here, at Tomorrowland. Not many understand the entertainment value of the DJing trade as well as they do, that’s why.
Born and bred in the beautiful woods of northern Germany, Pretty Pink manifested herself onto the club scene with a unique strand of almost spiritual deep house. Pretty Pink’s growing fanbase loves her for her galvanising stage performances, where she combines a sense of serenity with her relentless drive. Pretty Pink’s sets are unique and audiences feel it, whether that’s crowds in clubs or people who discovered the DJ/producer via her aptly named Deep Woods radio shows. Her first production - a critically acclaimed cover version of Daft Punk’s Get Lucky - set the tone and remixes for Armin van Buuren and Lost Frequencies followed suit. Risen from the forest, Pretty Pink may well be one of the world’s deep house superstars to be.

A producer who sits within the premier league of the liquid drum & bass genre, Netsky is one of the few DJs at Tomorrowland playing breaks. It comes as no surprise that he’s on the line-up once again though, as this man is one of the more versatile producers on the scene reaching a broad audience with his catchy beats, vocals and melodies. His career started back in 2009 with a release on the legendary Hospital drum & bass label, which is where he still puts out music to this day, —not bad for someone who named himself after a computer virus… Last weekend, he hosted his own Netsky & Friends stage, and today he’s representing Lost Frequencies’ curation of companions.
Oliver Heldens couldn’t have dreamt of a better career boost when Pete Tong dubbed him one of the breakthrough artists of the year 2014, after having dropped his first BBC Essential Mix. Helden balances on the thin line between mainstream dance, future house, deep house and - as of late - even breakbeat and techno. If only that were the full deal, anyone could copy the maverick’s success but heck no, Heldens’ magic goes way beyond that. Heldens enhances the strength of his own sound by surrounding himself with like-minded artists who release on his aptly named Heldeep imprint. Expect to hear lots of tunes by the master himself as well as his label mates Chocolate Puma and Shermanology.
