GLORIOUS SUNDAY
2022 BELGIUM
TODAY, WE UNITE AS ONE! IT’S TIME TO UNLEASH YOUR ENERGY TOGETHER It is time, friends, for one last hurrah. One last day – the final one, where all the love collected will be properly reflected into an eternal beacon in the skies. But surely, that should be no issue for you. Over the past two days, you’ve amply demonstrated your relentless energy – shaking the Freedom stage to its very foundations, turning the Atmosphere pavilion into a hurricane, and transforming all of the Holy Grounds into a display of togetherness unlike anything the world has ever seen before. Today, however, you are warmly invited to outdo yourself. Consider your magical Friday and incredible Saturday a

Feel the emotions you’ve experienced coursing through your veins, let the spirit of unity animate your body – and whirl across Tomorrowland a soul unleashed. Do all this, friends, in the knowledge that all you do is for a reason and that every move you make has a purpose: to etch the memories into your individual mind, and to combine the energies into a collective projection that will change the world. After all, after this, the sky will never look the same again – it will be branded with your love forever.

GET INTO THE GROOVE FIND ALL YOUR FAVOURITE DJS ONE MORE TIME
Welcome to glorious Sunday! We’re the third day in but not showing any signs of slowing down. The sun is trying hard to shine, but luckily your combined energy beams all the way to her, instead. The rhythms are still on point, though, so let’s get into the groove as there’s so much to discover today. There is plenty of opportunity to go deep by dancing to the hypnotic, driving beats of Reinier Zonneveld and his friends at the Filth on Acid stage. Here, you’ll also find the incredible Indira Paganotto, who skilfully blends a little psytrance into her techno sets. Music fans with an eclectic taste should definitely hop by at Diplo’s Higher Ground, which features sets not only by the man himself but also by the likes of allround music heads Carista and Maceo Plex, the American master of smooth and spacey techno. Not to be missed are the live set by Lost Frequencies and a unique three-way performance by Belgian siblings Dimitri & Mike with their cheeky brother-from-another-mother Timmy Trumpet as 3 Are Legend. 1

Dear Reader,

Besides magic, madness and unity, Tomorrowland stands for love. And although romantic letters might feel like a prehistoric practice in an age where we classify a 3 a.m. “you up?” text as ‘amour’, The Reflection of Love should be all about that eloquent prose professing a burning affection. And we are delighted to share the romance!

No one wants to carry a lot of stuff around on the dance floor and - of course - there is no need to. You will find lockers at several locations across both Tomorrowland and DreamVille.
Medical emergency? Look for the yellow flag with the black cross to find First Aid points. There is always a doctor with every team. To bring medication onto the grounds you will need a doctor’s certificate. 3

THE HAPPIEST CITY ON EARTH
Today, the People of Tomorrow slowly but surely wake up to the sounds of tent zippers and yawning neighbours, to then crawl out into a brand-new day. Do you plan on starting your day by getting into the groove with a Daybreak Session, or do you want to practice your football skills on the pitch first? If you feel like lazing in bed for a bit longer, we’re not judging. Being well-rested is essential upon entering the gates to the promised land, after all. So get comfortable and snuggle up with your tent-mate, or shoo them out to fetch a fresh brew first. Because though a dream to discover the stages scattered across the Holy Grounds last night, this new day presents plentiful new opportunities.
In her Bambi-pyjama and with a big bright smile, Tamal brings a lot of positivity wherever her feet take her. “I woke up late this morning, everybody is already having a fun time.” The Israeli then hurries off towards the showers. “I need some cold water for a refreshing shock to my system, ASAP!”
“She always forgets to hydrate. It’s so important, you know, so I remind her from time to time.” Chad from South Africa then gives his girlfriend Shanna a big sip from his bottle, from which she quickly pulls away. “Chaaaaaad, that was the one with the vodka!” Oopsie.
4
“Believe it or not, this is a tradition” says Luca from Italy after carrying his girlfriend Martina around DreamVille. “When we were here for the first time, I sprained my ankle and he carried me to breakfast; I felt like such a princess. Now we repeat it every year!” And then to think chivalry is dead.

Sandro still seems half-asleep during his morning coffee at the Farmhouse. The caffeine instantly does the trick, as he starts moving to the band and performers jumping around. “The drummer started playing right behind me, which really startled me. I guess I am awake now!”
“Wow, this morning is really hot – and we’re from Chile, so we know a thing or two about heat.” Gabriel and Pablo then lay out their advice for mornings like these. “Get a healthy breakfast with smoothies and cereal, nothing too heavy! Then hydrate and look for shade, obviously.”
Meryem and Temmuz from Istanbul really know how to work the camera – do these two shadow as models? “No, not yet!” Meryem says and laughs. “But who knows, maybe one day? Walking down this path certainly feels like being on a runway, though. I feel so confident!”
Matilde from Australia seems to be completely in tune with her surroundings, channelling her inner yogi during a morning yoga session in the Chill Out Area. “It just makes me feel so grateful and alive! Last night, I only had the energy to keep dancing because that morning’s yoga sesh gave me the strength for it.”
A laptop? At DreamVille? Yes, seeing Jamal from Norway like that was certainly a surprise. “They didn’t know I woke up far from home, so when I got a video call this morning, they immediately asked why my voice is so weird… and why I am not wearing a shirt. Oops, I didn’t even think about that.”

At the service station at DreamVille, the People of Tomorrow can fix their camping equipment when needed. Carlo from Portugal needs to pump up his air mattress again. “It needed some fresh air after last nigh, just like me! I didn’t sleep well, but that might have to do with mattress deflating.”

WISDOM CELEBRATING SPARKLING LOVE!
LET’S HEAR IT FOR THE REDDITORS Tomorrowland’s website and app are easy to navigate for anyone looking for the line-up or practical information. Many of you love to go a little deeper, though, and for that there is the ever-popular /r/tomorrowland page on Reddit, a place where there is no such thing as a question that can’t be asked and where fellow-ravers are always happy to help. This month saw it garnering no less than 5 million views and it has 250,000 subscribers. Whenever needed, Josh and Martin – the dedicated administrators of the page – assist people who can’t find the answer to their question. “You could say the discussions on the platform are seasonal,” says Josh. “During the winter months, when tickets go on sale, that’s what people talk about. Then comes the time of the line-up announcement, which is obviously something ravers want to discuss. Travel talk follows in early summer and right now, the People of Tomorrow are obviously reliving the moments from last night and discussing the Reflection of Love stage as well as other newly decorated areas such as CORE.” In recent years, the discussions have been verging more and more towards music, whereas before, Redditors were mainly talking about the overall experience. “The vibe and feel of Tomorrowland are obviously still widely discussed,” says Martin. “But we’re seeing that people become more knowledgeable about the artists they’re seeing. They’re keen to learn, too. Some who likes Martin Garrix, for example, may ask who else to see based on their love for his sound. I think people love the new directions that Tomorrowland is always prepared to take, and the fact that the festival has always been supportive of talented young artists who are relatively new to the scene.” Curious to join the conversation? Go to reddit.com/r/ Tomorrowland/ to join the Tomorrowland community on Reddit.
When requested to send us pictures of the best (or worst) breakfast you made at DreamVille, the replies we received were plentiful and all hilarious. One stood out – it was Shannyn and Lucas’ morning munch. The two just got engaged and are celebrating their respective birthdays on these Holy Grounds. Obviously, it only feels right to sweeten this trifecta with a Solo Vida breakfast and a free glass of Solo Vida Reserva sparkling wine. See you at the Farmhouse later!

TASTE THE WORLD IN ANTWERP Did you know that your love for the Mesa Garden can continue beyond the borders of the festival grounds? Mesa also has an easygoing bar/restaurant in the heart of the beautiful city of Antwerp, and it’s all about sharing dishes. Their team serves a unique experience of cocktails, tacos, dips, bites and signature dishes to you share with your friends and family. The food and cocktails are inspired by the Tastes of the World cuisine of Tomorrowland with typical and delicious flavours from all corners of the world.

DIMITRI VEGAS & LIKE MIKE LEGENDS IN THE HOUSE Legends! It is hard to find a term that describes these two brothers and their relevance to the global dance music scene better than that one. Having been the faces of Tomorrowland for years and years now, it is hard to imagine these Holy Grounds without the presence of these bringers of madness. Good thing is: there is no need to. Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike are ending with a bang, as they bring two massive shows with two equally grand artists on this final day. At 20h00, expect things to go to a whole new level when the brothers join forces with Timmy Trumpet at The Library. After that, get ready for one last earthshattering hoorah, when 3 Are Legend - their joint venture with Steve Aoki - hits the Mainstage. The artist siblings sat down for an interview to tell you what to expect from them today –especially for the grand closing of Tomorrowland 2022 on the Mainstage at 22h55.
This year, we set out to reinvent 3 Are Legend. We don’t want to give away too much just yet, though…

Every time we reach a big achievement, it’s like opening up a door to a new room – and then that room has a lot of doors again that are just waiting to be opened.
– but because Tomorrowland brings people from all over the world together, there is so much of that rave culture extravaganza here as well. People live towards this moment, to just be their full-on authentic selves. So they bring banners and flags, they dress up, and just do everything to make them feel like the main character. That could be the spot where these two worlds meet.” Mike, you obviously have a solo music project under the name Like Mike in which you mostly do rap. How did this project start? Mike: “It’s basically the unabridged me. There’s a lot of music I really like to work on that doesn’t really fit the vibe of Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, so I knew I needed a creative outlet for that. There’s pop, hip hop and rap and everyone who has watched my set in the Crystal Garden knows there is a lot of deeper stuff as well. I hope that eventually, people will see
Tomorrowland really knows to surpass everyone’s wildest expectations every time. Let’s rewind to 10 years ago or so - what about this Tomorrowland would you have never believed in 2012? Dimitri: “The Mainstage – no question! I know it’s kind of cheesy, but every year after the madness is over, we think to ourselves: ‘How are they ever going surpass this, how are they going to make the next Mainstage even better?’ But here we are, all these years later, and we’re still repeating the same sentiment of astonishment. Year and year again, they manage to level it up. I again have no clue how they are going top this one, but evidence suggests that they’ll somehow pull it off.” Mike: “Maybe next year, Tomorrowland needs to go into full madness-mode and create a flying Mainstage. You know, one that actually lifts off !” For the closing of the Mainstage, the People of Tomorrow get to experience a show with you and Steve Aoki – 3 Are Legend. This is obviously a very special happening. How do you guys prepare for a set like that? Dimitri: “The idea of this 3 Are Legend show, apart from the new music that we will bring, is to pay tribute to the golden era of Tomorrowland. This formation, or project, evolved massively when we received the rather last-minute request to play the closing of the Mainstage in 2019. That’s such a massive responsibility! We had already played a set the day before, and so had Steve, so we knew it had to be something entirely different.” Mike: “We came up with the idea to play the biggest tracks that shaped what people today consider the sound of the Mainstage. This year, we set out to reinvent 3 Are Legend. We don’t want to give away too much just yet, though…” Being considered a legend is kind of the pinnacle of what you can achieve - how do you guys stay hungry rather than leaning back?

‘Like Mike’ as my brand for everything that I have passion for, regardless of the genre.” This is the final day of Tomorrowland – this is the one that really counts. What is your advice to people that are not sure yet what to do on their last day? Mike: “Experience the food here. When it comes to food, Tomorrowland is not like any other festival. There are so many amazing food stands and even world-renowned chefs; true masters of their craft. I suggest you try something you’ve never eaten before. And don’t forget to roam the festival site with open eyes and really discover all its beautiful details.” Dimitri: “Enjoy it to the fullest, because before you know it, this will be over and you’ll have to wait another year for all of this to unfold again. And obviously… come to the closing of the Mainstage, it’s gonna be one to remember for a lifetime.” Mike: “Let’s Smash The f***ing House!”
Dimitri: “I guess it’s because we don’t feel like we achieved everything there is to achieve. Every time we reach a new milestone, it’s like opening a door to a new room – and then that room has a lot of doors again, just waiting to be opened.” Mike: “The beauty of the past few years, is that a lot of doors have already opened up, which allowed us to choose what we wanted to do. Getting to develop our passion projects has been an awesome experience.” Today, you’ll be playing two stages: the Mainstage and The Library. You’re hosting the latter with your label Smash The House, under which you have amassed so many talents. Who would make the perfect combination, if there ever was a '3 Are Talent'-set? Dimitri: “Wow, let us think about that one for a second, because that really depends on what you classify as a talent. One thing is clear, though; Azteck needs to be in the mix. He’s on fire, dropping insane productions on repeat – he’s doing great things on the label. For the other two spots… let me think.” Mike: “How about Bassjackers? They have obviously been around as long as we have, but whenever I listen to their songs or see them play, I always think to myself; ‘man, they have so much talent’.” Dimitri: “Obviously, we also have to include my wife MATTN. For a live set, those three would be a wild mix.” Let’s talk about your individual passion projects for a moment. Dimitri, you’re obviously really into comic books. If you walk around Tomorrowland, you always find people in superhero costumes. What do you think it is that these two worlds have in common? Dimitri: “Actually, people tend to dress quite modest here in Europe. In other parts of the world, people go to raves looking even more extravagant

THE RULES OF THE GAME Taking chances is a part of life. Without it, you get absolutely nowhere. Even getting a ticket to Tomorrowland involves an element of probability, as we all know. With that in mind, we decided to try our luck in challenging the People of Tomorrow; to be featured in the most cheerful newspaper in the world, - which is of course the one you’re reading right now - all you had to do was play along. Thankfully, no-one refused upon finding out about the catch. Because to get your lovely faces in the paper didn’t just mean playing a game of dice, it also meant you had to dutifully accept its corresponding task. You think you’re completely free to do whatever you want at Tomorrowland, but are you really?

Four is Katarina’s lucky number today, which means she gets to do an imitation of her favourite DJ Charlotte de Witte, hours before seeing her closing gig at Tomorrowland’s majestic Mainstage.
BRYAN (USA) THROWS A 2! Having visited TomorrowWorld in Atlanta years ago, Bryan from Texas’ music capital Austin always knew he wanted to go and experience the mother of all dance music festivals here in Belgium. “We’re here with a group of forty Pikachus, so jumping as high as I can in front of the camera isn’t the silliest thing about my day."
ELHAM & MANI (IRAN) THROW A 4! Elham & Mani, a newly-wed couple from Iran, have come to Tomorrowland to celebrate their honeymoon. “I came here four years ago and I prayed to God that one day I would be here again with my girlfriend Elham,” says Mani. “Now, my dream has come true. Even better, she’s now my wife!” Thankfully, the two are good at mimicking their favourite DJ Eric Prydz, because that’s the law when you throw a four at dice!
FON & ICE (THAILAND) THROW A 6!! Fon and Ice flew in from Thailand and after some bad luck in Paris - Ice had her wallet stolen - the past few days at Tomorrowland “felt like a dream come true.” The two friends are into W&W and Afrojack, but also love watching live videos by Ed Sheeran and Taylor Swift. That came in handy when you’ve committed yourself to playing a full-blown air guitar set. Rock on!

THE MAINSTAGE MESSIAH SENDS YOU OFF As I look back on Tomorrowland 2022, I gaze at a triple edition that seemingly lasted forever yet instead is about to come to an ending relatively soon. An edition that continued for three long weekends, meaning that it spanned about 3% of the year. During this legendary edition, we went through three distinct phases. The first weekend was all about homecoming, an emotional feeling that came over all of us: the artists, the crew and the crowd, the effervescent People of Tomorrow. The moment Quintino did a shout-out to his parents and his pregnant girlfriend during the final track of his set, will stick with me forever. His message to his loved ones went straight to my heart and we both had a cry on each other’s shoulder, hoping for our children’s lives to be as good as ours. For me, that very act symbolised the ultimate celebration of togetherness underneath that magical butterfly. By the start of the second weekend, we realised this one was going to be all about re-education. We’d returned to re-educate ourselves about living the good life. Right now, as we’re slowly approaching the finale of the closing weekend, we know what it is all about: change. This legendary third weekend is going to leave planet earth changed forever in a way only the world’s greatest dance music festival can. This reflection has left a mark on millions of people. Someone once said that the revolution can’t be televised, but he clearly had not counted on live streaming. It has always been my mantra to make every second legendary together with all of you. I’m 51 years old now and, come to think of it, I may actually get it tattooed as a sign that I’ve finally grown up: Every. Second. Legendary. This year, as any year, it’s been so wonderful to see the flags from faraway Latino, African and Asian countries - it makes you realise how much of an effort people make to be part of Tomorrowland. The Australians also deserve a special shout out, as I know thousands of you weren’t able to make it this year. But if you’re here right now - you know who you are - here’s the biggest hug from me to you. A special thank you, of course, goes out to the Tomorrowland team for creating the biggest family business in the world. Before I send you off, I want to make sure that today you’ll give all you have, and that you will reflect the love that Tomorrowland gave you right back to wherever it is you live. Tomorrowland 2022 has been the best edition so far and you can be very proud be part of it, to live it right here and right now. Tomorrowland will forever be part of you and you will always be part of Tomorrowland. Live Today, Love Tomorrow, Unite Forever. Off you go my friends.

HOW TO
MAKE ’EM DANCE Have you ever asked yourself why some DJs just always seem to have the crowd in the palm of their hand? For some of the most famous artists, it’s because they‘ve learned it from Daddy K. This Belgian legend has been going strong for over 30 years and has more than just a few tricks up his sleeve to make any audience go wild. His advice: “Just be entertaining and engage with the people! Make everybody feel like they’re part of the moment.“
HOW TO
MIX LIKE A PRO Being entertaining alone might help you at the bar - but as a DJ, you’ll obviously need a particular set of musical skills as well. “Practice makes perfect, so you better have an inexhaustible passion to make DJ’ing a habit.” Daddy K says. Don’t you worry, Rome wasn’t built in a day either and the way to the DJ olympics isn’t a sprint – take your time and enjoy the process. Daddy K might be the embodiment of the combination, combining entertainment and skills. Or do you know of other DJs who can scratch with his nose? 14

HOW TO
LOVE FOR ETERNITY
3 ULTIMATE TIPS FOR STICKING TOGETHER Maintaining a long-lasting and happy relationship is no small feat. You have to put work into it – but what you get out of it can’t be matched by any other feeling. Daddy K and his wife, fellow-DJ Nicki Sanchez, obviously know that – and have three great tips on how you can make your relationship last as long as theirs. Rule number one, Nicki says, is to find things to laugh about together. “It’s not just about making jokes; it’s about deeply understanding what your love finds joy in and what makes them crack up. Discovering that will allow you to brighten up each other’s day when the other needs it most.”
Stop in your tracks with this power pose. Nod your head along to the beat while you’re on the lookout for like-minded party people, who are ready to dance with you like there’s no tomorrow. Damn, you look confident!
2
Another important tip for sticking together through thick and thin is to be patient, Daddy K lets us know. “Don’t try to rush things – life may seem short, but you have so much time to let things fall into place in your relationships. Speed isn’t something that’s of value when it comes to true love.” These two lovebirds have one final tip: “Give each other the space to grow and to be their authentic selves, and you will see the amazing person your loved one truly is. Be there, elevate them, make them shine.” According to Nicki, there is no point in being each other’s accessories: “I know he never portrays me as ‘the wife of Daddy K’ – he puts me into the spotlight as Nicki Sanchez, because that’s who he loves.” Super important! And in case none of these three tips are applicable: “Easy! She is always right” Daddy K adds, and the two start laughing. Humour is key, after all.
Wait, what’s that? A friendly face? A like-minded raver? The personification of the reflection of love? No matter what, show this move when you’ve found the one you want to shake things up with. Mind you, the build-up is already almost over…

Holy smokes, this track goes straight to the heart. Better throw your hands up in the air and make them stay there! From there, just move the way that feels right to you and remember: the wilder the better a fit at the Harbour House.

THE HOLY GROUNDS A TOUR OF ALL DANCEFLOORS From the iconic, ever-changing but always magical Mainstage to dancefloors overlooked by giant mushrooms to a peaceful, out-of-this-world face overgrown by jungle plants to a friendly giant dragon, Tomorrowland’s magic is made in large part by its stages. As you will have noticed by now, there’s never a dull moment as you switch between styles such as EDM, techno, psytrance, house, drum & bass and hardstyle in front of varying backdrops. What’s more, the stages are always a visual fit to the walls of sound they host. Everything, in other words, is taken care of for you when it comes to the best settings for dancing. And just in case you missed something so far, here’s a tour of all fourteen stages!
MAINSTAGE THE REFLECTION OF LOVE The Mainstage is the undisputed centrepiece of Tomorrowland, the one everyone is always most excited to see. 2022’s decor is a true Reflection of Love, a grandiose celebration of good-hearted science fiction. It’s the true Holy Ground, a place of ceremonies and rituals. The structure is white, it is gold, it is magnificent, and it reaches higher into the sky than ever before in the history of Tomorrowland… The Mainstage is where the guiding souls of love – all wearing fanciful white suits – make you feel welcome, and it is where they’ll eventually salute you at the end of this glorious threeday festival.
THE ROSE GARDEN RAMPAGE | BONZAI | 2010-2012 Entering the Rose Garden feels like you’re Bruce Lee in his famous movie Enter the Dragon. The dragon overlooks the field and the adjacent lake, while you danced to the best in drum & bass and liquid funk on Friday, when the stage was hosted by Rampage. Saturday was for the legendary Belgian label Bonzai, famous for its unique blend of trance, hardcore and techno. Last but not least, on Sunday, the Rose Garden is where you relive Tomorrowland like it’s 2010-2012 with the very best EDM and trance DJs from that age such as Dannic, DJs From Mars and even a special guest. Who could it be?
HARBOUR HOUSE RADIO ULTRA MODERN Built on the edge of the water, the Harbour House is your safe haven for high-quality eclectic sounds. The theatrical decoration, the scintillating performances, and the brilliant DJs all add to the cosiness and good vibrations of this stage. Ever since its first hosting at Tomorrowland, Radio Ultra Modern has been your go-to provider for everything funky, groovy and quirky. Be it R&B or hip hop, dancehall or dance classics – Radio Ultra Modern serves them on a tantalising dish of all-you-can-eat dance floor delicacies. Feast your ears, grind your behinds and feed your souls once more with Babybang, Lady S B2B Dany Neville and many more. 18
MOOSE BAR MOOSE BAR Sun is shining, the weather is sweet, and the temperatures are scorching. None of that means you can’t get into the festive après-ski mood if you want to! Upon arrival at the Moose Bar, you won’t need to get rid of your skis and snowboard due to the typical seasonal conditions of the Belgian summer. All you might want to do is grab a lager, say cheers, and start dancing to the evergreen hits played by classically trained party jocks such as Jeroen Visser, Michael More, Jelle DK, Kurt Verheyen, Feest DJ Lucki Luc and many others. Looking forward to Tomorrowland Winter yet?

FREEDOM | Q-DANCE | BUD The Freedom Stage is a technical feat of epic proportions, hosted by beverage partner Bud on Friday and Sunday, and by Dutch hardstyle heroes Q-dance on Saturday. Armed with a massive LED-backdrop, giant dragonflies, and spotlights scanning the room for happy ravers’ faces, this is an unparalleled experience. Eric Prydz set the standard on Friday, boggling the minds of all with his impressive 3D HOLO show. Friday and Sunday line-ups are great mixes with both established and newcomer house- and techno DJs, from Joris Voorn to Adam Beyer. Saturday showcased the pounding face of hard dance with Atmozfears & Sound Rush present 2^1 and Angerfist.
ATMOSPHERE EXHALE | AFTERLIFE | FILTH ON ACID The Atmosphere is a massive indoor stage, filled with all the top-notch artists your techno heart desires. The custom-made tent structure caters to thousands of dedicated party people and has an immense backline of LED screens to further ignite the explosive dance floor. Each day of the weekend, another techno institute is taking control, starting with Amelie Lens’ beloved techno brand EXHALE on Friday. Tale of Us’ Afterlife conglomerate was calling the shots on Saturday, and on Sunday, Reinier Zonnevelds imprint Filth on Acid is taking the lead. Meaning that this weekend, it was the place to experience techno in all of its relentless shapes, from Rødhåd to Mind Against and even Oliver Heldens’ techno alias HI-LO.
CAGE RIMBU | STAR WARZ INVITES SHOGUN | FOOTWORXX At Cage, the darkness of clubs and warehouses is celebrated in full effect. The electronic music you hear anywhere at Tomorrowland emerged from such spaces across New York City and the Midwestern USA, before diverging into a plethora of new styles in the UK warehouse rave scene. The music today is a little different than back in the day, though. Cage is where you lose yourself to the sounds of hardstyle, drum & bass and techno DJs like KRTM Live, Mama Snake and DJ Anime. If you love ultra-energetic vibes and rhythms, then Cage is where your friends will find you.
THE REFLECTION OF LOVE
THE RAVE CAVE CRYSTAL | HARDHARDERHARDEST | COINCIDENCE Tomorrowland may have grown to be the ringleader of massive, epic, and larger-than life festival experiences, but it will never cease to honour the roots of its musical success. The Rave Cave is the place to take you back to the original vibe of outdoor partying – back when all you needed to get down was a pair of speakers, a handful of dope-ass DJs and a tunnel to rave in. On Friday, the Rave Cave was hosted by Antwerp’s very own Crystal Events, on Saturday the earth shook with the sounds of Hardharderhardest and this Sunday, you can get ready for the rhythmic beauty of sounds by Belgium label Coincidence.
LEAF BY JBL KETALOCO | SHOMI | FLOW Powered by JBL and stacked with solid grooves is the LEAF stage. As you walk onto this island, you will feel all your mainland woes drift away in the breeze. The palm trees are swaying from left to right, and so are the hips of your fellow island-hoppers. This is where the DJ is at eye level, getting down with you as you raise your hands in pure bliss. Lifting your moods and spirits for three days on end, high-quality sounds were provided by the Belgian deep house pros of Ketaloco on Friday, Antwerp’s soulful house connoisseurs SHOMI on Saturday, and Belgian house-heads Flow on Sunday.

CORE CORE PRESENTS DJ TENNIS CURATES | CORE | CORE PRESENTS CELLINI Enter the world of the incredible CORE stage, which has quickly become a Tomorrowland classic. Now also a brand-new annual festival of its own, CORE has literally put a face to the music this year. Centred around a figure with a serene, upward gaze, the stage is a temple of human expression right in the middle of a mysterious forest. CORE is where you become one with nature while you dance to the sounds of the world’s best forward-thinking DJs. It’s a place you’d never want to leave if it weren’t for all the other wonderful provinces of Tomorrowland still on your travel bucket list. 20

CRYSTAL GARDEN CRYSTAL GARDEN | ANJUNABEATS | DIPLO’S HIGHER GROUND Smoke on the water this year at the Crystal Garden! If there ever was an enchanted swamp worth visiting, it would be this magnificent piece of floating art. Drifting on the water and steaming on all sides, it oozes eclectic beats and enticing sounds. The hosting partners this year only add to the excitement of it all. On Friday you met a wide array of artists including chartbreakers Shouse. On Saturday, Anjunabeats were in the cockpit. And on Sunday, Diplo showcases his famous Higher Ground concept, meaning; anything can happen!
THE LIBRARY THE LIBRARY | LOST FREQUENCIES & FRIENDS | SMASH THE HOUSE The Library is where you indulge in wisdom, surrounded by the giant books strewn all around the stage. Their presence is enough; there’s no need to read the pages. The Library is where DJs and performers fire their beats right at you as if they were poetry or literary fiction. The Library’s soundtrack throughout the weekend is a sweet and energetic mix of future house, EDM and even hardstyle, played by a wide array of DJs including Lost Frequencies, Afrojack, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, Bassjackers and Wildstylez.
YOUPHORIA TWEEKAMANIA | PSYGATHERING | MONSTERCAT The wonderfully decorated Youphoria stage is where lush mushrooms grow abundantly, for an enhanced psychedelic experience. The fungi are delicate organisms and there is always a lot to look at here. The DJ booth is at the base of four of them, with a great view for the selector onto the entire dancing crowd. This is where you got to enjoy thumping psytrance beats on Saturday, but also where you heard some of the crazier hard dance styles including hardstyle on Friday. Youphoria shows no signs of slowing down on Sunday, when it is the place to be for fans of dance music’s catchiest platform, Monstercat. THE REFLECTION OF LOVE
KARA SAVI
SECRET STAGE
FUTURE SOUND OF EGYPT | GLITTERBOX | CAFEÍNA This small and intimate stage blasts its beats from the mouth of a spiral shell somehow risen from the bottom of the ocean onto the festival site. Kara Savi is the kind of stage you’ll only find at Tomorrowland; full of atmosphere and with an actual beach to complete the feeling. This dance floor is where the true spirit of club culture in all its forms is celebrated, with legends like Aly & Fila gracing the stage on Friday, Glitterbox bringing disco and house from the early days on Saturday, while Antwerp’s own Cafeína will host the stage this Sunday.

WISDOM WARNING! THE FAIRYTALE CONTINUES... Tomorrowland is bringing the party back to the breathtakingly beautiful island of Ibiza. Until September 21st, the iconic duo Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike are back at Ushuaïa with a string of legendary shows, catching the energy of the shimmering sunlight reflections on the surface of the Mediterranean Sea. No plans to visit Ibiza this summer? No worries, as Dimitri and Mike are also transforming the Antwerp Sportpaleis into a marvelous indoor festival – The Garden of Madness – on Friday 16 and Saturday 17 December.
KINDNESS MATTERS Education is the key to a better future. But life is not only about knowledge. Being able to express yourself creatively is just as important. That’s why the Tomorrowland Foundation works to support children and youngsters between the ages of 4 and 21 from all over the world, focusing on projects that aim to give them the chance to express themselves creatively and increase their self-esteem. Music, dance and arts are key in this personal development. And they are able to do so thanks to your spontaneous donations and contributions! So on behalf of the Tomorrowland Foundation it is we say: Danke Sehr, Merci, Grazie Mille, Stokrotne Dzięki and Thank You So Much!
What to expect? Well, the brothers will be pulling out all the stops, with shows produced by Tomorrowland. This means that the stage, decoration and all special effects are in the hands of their creative team. No doubt it promises to be both spectacular and magical. In Dimitri’s very own words: “Everyone is hereby officially warned!"
THE VERY BEST CONTENT
Creativity is inventing, experimenting, growing, taking risks, breaking rules, making mistakes, and having fun. And a special talent in that field is exactly what Coca-Cola is looking for. They partnered up with Tomorrowland in order to find content creators for the Coke Studio, located close to the One World Radio studio. Their content will be used for the Coke Studio YouTube Challenge. But this is not the only exciting part about the Coke Studio. It is also home to the best Coca-Cola cocktails of Tomorrowland and the perfect place to unwind in one of the comfortable beanbags on the beautiful sunny deck. Want to take an everlasting memory home? Make sure you step into the Coke Studio Photo Booth, in which you can create your own 3D GIF on one of the most photogenic spots on the site.
THE HEART OF THE MARKETPLACE What would a marketplace be without a supermarket? Nothing! Here you’ll find the golden Supermarket store by Carrefour, with everything you need to treat yourself and your fellow townies. Grab fresh fruit and some warm baguettes, for instance, when it’s your turn to serve breakfast in bed. Next to refrigerators full of your favorite chilled drinks, you’ll find a freezer filled with packages for the BBQ. Fedra and Eren from Turkey got themselves lots of stuff for breakfast including olives, yoghurt, cucumber, orange juice and bananas. “The selection of this place is amazing,” they say, “and it has a real party vibe to it with great music coming out of the speakers. You wouldn’t find a grocery shop like this anywhere in the world except at Tomorrowland!” The Carrefour staff is not so used to this environment as they are. Vincent (47) works as expansion manager for the chain, but today he’s serving the People of Tomorrow at the cash register. “The ambiance and the people are amazing,” he says, while handing over yet another chock-full Tomorrowland grocery bag. If you want to get your hands on one of those too, the Carrefour supermarket is still opened this Sunday 08h00-16h00 and 23h00-03h00, and Monday 07h30-12h00. THE REFLECTION OF LOVE

House music is a feeling, and the same goes for any of the other genres of electronic music that are to be enjoyed at Tomorrowland. Music is what unites us, the People of Tomorrow, more than anything else. So get ready for it: in this section of today’s newspaper, you’ll read everything you didn’t realise you always wanted to know about the world’s most incredible DJs and producers. Reading artist bios and interviews, and studying Tomorrowland’s official timetable is the best way to prepare yourself for the sonic splendour that awaits at the Holy Grounds. Enjoy!
MONSTERCAT
FILTH ON ACID
Known for their endless series of excellent dance compilations, Canadian collective Monstercat is a platform “that fans can use to discover music and that artists can use as a platform for getting their music out there” rather than a record label, according to co-founder Mike Darlington. The music released on the platform holds the middle ground between EDM, dance-pop and house and is known for its relaxed approach to working with artists, who are all free to keep releasing music elsewhere. You can’t go wrong with such a friendly way of working and we’re sure this is a vibe that will be felt on stage today, too. Monstercat’s killer line-up includes artists as diverse as Modestep, Infected Mushroom and Crankdat.
Filth on Acid-label boss Reinier Zonneveld is primarily known for his marathon solo-sessions, so seeing him curate a stage with himself playing alongside six world-class DJs of his choice is a unique occasion. Reinier fans: fear not, as a Filth on Acid stage wouldn’t be a Filth on Acid stage without a punishing not-from-this-world Reinier live set. These live sets are not only a feast for the ear, but also for the eye, if you’re into vintage Japanese synthesisers and drum machines, that is. Invitees on today’s line-up include Spain's best-kept psytrance/techno crossover secret Indira Paganotto, German techno veteran Monika Kruse, Belgian techno-trance hero Yves Deruyter and three new-ish Filth on Acid artists, Kiki Solvej, Klaps and HI-LO.

HOSTED BY: MC STRETCH
FREEDOM
Educated to be a graphic designer, Van den Branden soon found he could take his creative power to another level, which led him to co-create the most visually stunning festival in the world. The rest is history, as they say. Tomorrowland has obviously always been a very inspiring place to Comrad in a musical way, and this Daybreak Session is the perfect occasion to enjoy some of the best tunes he’s discovered recently as well as over the years, since the first edition all the way back in 2004. Expect a mix of music that reflects Comrad’s extensive knowledge of electronic music’s decades long history as well as exciting tracks from more recent years, covering genres such as progressive, techno, breakbeat, bass music and deep house. In recent sets, Comrad supported the sounds of artists such as Joris Voorn, Bicep, Adriatique, Four Tet, Booka Shade, Lee Burridge, Dominik Eulberg, Matthew Dear, DJ Tennis and many more. The tunes spun by DJ Comrad and his friends will no doubt form the perfect sonic backdrop to wake up your mind and dancing feet for the day.

REINIER ZONNEVELD 22H00 Seemingly coming from out of nowhere, Reinier Zonneveld aka the Dutch king of heavy-duty techno suddenly turned into one of the most in-demand DJ/producers of the genre. Originally a bedroom producer like any other electronic music geek, Reinier has now released music in collaboration with producers from all kinds of genres including Carl Cox, Angerfist, Speedy J and Armin van Buuren. His exquisite music taste, extraordinary performance skills and likeable personality have taken his career to an unprecedented level and allowed him to host his own Filth on Acid stage today. Let’s catch up with this filthy party animal!
Your music is pretty heavy-duty, yet you played Tomorrowland’s Mainstage last week. Did you see that coming, and how did you get to where you are today? “I’ve always been very driven when it comes to my music, and I figure I simply have the right style at the right moment, but still: it’s surrealistic. What I really liked about playing Tomorrowland’s Mainstage was performing that super-raw, energetic kind of techno at peak time. I prefer it to the more melodic stuff I played earlier in my career. It really works with a large crowd – you create the type of energy that comes with a sense of togetherness.” You’re one of the few artists to bring an extended live set-up to the stage including synths and drum machines. Can you tell us about your love for this vintage gear? And in what way does it differ from playing with a stripped-down set-up? “I started playing at raves with very big set-ups when I was much younger. I used even more machines than I do now. It’s not so convenient to carry it all around, but when you’re playing it’s amazing: the more buttons you have, the faster you can work, which means your sets are more dynamic.”
THE REFLECTION OF LOVE
You are known to sometimes produce your music in marathon sessions. Can you elaborate a little on the merits of working such long hours? “You start working on your music, and after a while your subconscious takes over. You get in the flow and then at some point you don’t even realise you’re making music anymore. In such a state of mind, you come up with way better ideas than when you just work on it for short periods of time. I love it!”
You’ve collaborated with a lot of artists over the past few years but you’re also someone who likes to do things solo. How do you balance between the two? “It’s a real challenge. Making music for fun is one thing, but releasing it is a different thing altogether. I love the collabs and the solo things and you want to release it all, but you just can’t put out an endless amount of tracks in one year. Sometimes I can’t even decide what to release and what not!”
You’re hardly ever spotted without your bright Versace shirts. Is there a key point in your life when you fell in love with them or has it been a gradual process? “They just slowly entered my life. After a while, I got a little bored with my label’s logo and I was looking for something new with a real party vibe to it. I saw some footage of rappers in Hollywood wearing Versace and then I figured I’d buy one. One thing led to another after that. They come in so many different colours, it’s insane. I love the fact that they look silly. You walk into the supermarket and people are like ‘what the fuck’. What’s also good is that the sleeves absorb sweat: that’s just so much better than having it drip on your gear!”
Lastly, the one question everyone who reads this wants to know the answer to. There are two words everyone who follows you knows by heart: “karren maar!” What’s the story behind them? “I once rented a villa with friends in the middle of nowhere. We had speakers, a DJ booth and whatnot. At some point, you get very tired and you start saying weird things. ‘Karren maar’ is just a really annoying Dutch way of saying ‘let’s go’. At some point, I had uttered the phrase so many times that my friends threatened to kick me out of the house. That’s not even a joke. In the end it turned out to be the birth of this running gag…”

LOST FREQUENCIES
LIVE One of the hottest names in electronic music, Felix de Laet aka Lost Frequencies is the talk of town. Anyone who’s made new friends at Tomorrowland will know by now: Lost Frequencies is
one of the artists people from all over the world are most excited to see here in Boom. Felix’ fans are in luck this weekend, as they get to see him twice – with a full live band yesterday and once again today, when he is playing a DJ set. Ahead of his performance on Friday, Belgium’s electronic boy wonder shared some thoughts about love, livesets and music for you to enjoy.
Felix, first things first, how do you reflect on this year’s Tomorrowland theme, the Reflection of Love? “It’s really arrived at the right moment, hasn’t it? A true Reflection of Love is very much needed after most of us have been spending so much time at home. This year at Tomorrowland, we celebrate our love for the people around us. Visually, Tomorrowland has done an amazing job. The Mainstage is very stylish and clean. It radiates a certain serenity and calmth. The Reflection of Love---vibe really is my thing.”

ELECTRONIC DRUM KIT
GUITAR
Dance music needs a kickdrum, obviously. But Lost Frequencies uses his drum set for much more than that. As this is an electronic drum kit, any desired sound can come out of the speaker when the drummer hits a pad.
Felix is not essentially a guitar player like, say, John Mayer, but his music is jam-packed with melodies. This is why he not only plays the guitar himself during his sets, but also brings a dedicated guitarist who does nothing but shred those strings.
You’re very closely connected with Tomorrowland. How does it feel to finally be back at the festival? “To be honest, due to regulations varying so much globally, I have actually been able to tour for the past year and a half, so in that sense it’s not so much of a shock to be playing out again. But then obviously Tomorrowland is something really special. Some people who have seen me play elsewhere want to see me again here at Tomorrowland. I guess it’s due to the footage of the shows you can find online – people can tell how special the vibe is here.”

You’re one of the few artists to play the Mainstage no less than three times. What’s that like? “I really like it. Normally if I’d play a show late on Sunday night here at Tomorrowland, I’d be sad afterward, knowing that I would have to return to normal life again. Now the start was very different, as by the end of the first weekend, I knew I had two more amazing festival weekends to go!” You will play a live set as well as a DJ set. What do you like most about playing each type of set? “I love playing live shows with a full band as it’s a challenge. It takes me out of my comfort zone. It’s a real showcase of what I’m capable of as an artist. There are also big dangers to playing live, as so many technical things can go wrong. Last week, for example, my keytar wouldn’t connect with my laptop properly. DJ’ing on, the other hand, is actually relaxing for me. I get to play other people’s music besides my own, and I can have a few more beers, as not much can go wrong!” You do a lot of remixes – most recently, The Weeknd – and also a lot of collabs. Is there a
MOOG SUB 37
ROLAND AX-EDGE KEYTAR
Essentially an electronic musician, naturally, Lost Frequencies knows how to play what may well be the most famous of all synthesizers: the legendary Moog. Felix plays the Sub 37-type, one of the world’s most critically acclaimed analogue electronic instruments.
Regular guitars obviously aren’t enough for a full-on electronic live performance, and that’s where the synth-guitar crossover instrument we’ve come to call keytar comes in. Popular since the ‘80s, it is also a visual trademark of a Lost Frequencies' live show.
“What I love the most about dance music is sound design. I’m a sucker for productions that sound massive.” key difference for you between the two? “With remixing you’re given carte blanche, and then I know I can go as crazy as I want. If the artist who commissioned me to do the job doesn’t like it, I don’t care. With collaborations, I really listen to the feedback I get from the songwriter; you really make a song together.” So many hits, so many collabs. What does it do to you? Do you feel under pressure? And how do you deal with it? “I certainly do feel the pressure from the label and there are certain expectations from everyone who follows me, but I have a great team whom I fully trust. Talking to them really helps me a lot. Sometimes I really feel like brainstorming with them and then afterwards I return to the studio with fresh ideas and full of confidence.” Can you tell us something about the Deluxe remixes you make of your own tracks? “I make the Deluxe tracks especially for my bigger slots at festivals. I sometimes feel that for an enormous dancefloor, a track might need a bigger push, a different arrangement or a more massive synth sound. That’s why I create a Deluxe version nearly every single track, to make my sets really energetic. What I love most about dance music is sound design. For me, a melody isn’t the most important thing; I’m a sucker for massive-sounding productions.” We’ve spoken to many people over the course of the weekend and a lot of them mention you straight away when asked about their favourite artists. How does that make you feel? “It’s just so humbling, and it makes me feel really happy to be able to play the Mainstage during all three weekends!”

DIPLO CRYSTAL GARDEN | 19H30
One of the most versatile producers on the global dance scene, Diplo is now 43 years old and has done almost literally everything possible in his career. His debut album ‘Florida’, dating from 2004, had a real triphop vibe to it and strangely felt like it came out of California, due to its resemblance to DJ Shadow’s groundbreaking classic ‘Endtroducing…..’. Diplo then went on to explore numerous other genres, starting with baile funk, making the heavy-hitting Brazilian take on gangster rap known to music lovers in countries outside Latin America. Having had his fill of Rio, the maverick moved on to find inspiration in the sounds of Jamaica, resulting in some excellent output as Major Lazer, an incredibly successful dancehall ensemble with which Diplo will also perform at Tomorrowland’s Mainstage right after his solo set. Meanwhile, Diplo did production work for his then-girlfriend, indie popstar M.I.A.. and went on to collaborate with some of the world’s biggest stars including Madonna, Snoop Dogg, Skrillex, and Justin Bieber. As a DJ, Diplo is unrivalled in blending sounds from all over the world into a funky mix of sexy, bass-heavy dance floor cuts. So that means a lot of not so wellknown reggae, Latin and African flavours played side by side, mixed with catchy pop and EDM snippets you can sing along to. You’ve guessed it, Diplo can go literally any direction. He may even blend some ‘60s pop into his heavy-duty dance beats. Are you ready to have your mind blown?

With current and past residencies at Ibiza’s most famous clubs, Maceo Plex is an experienced force to be reckoned with. Not only does he know how to get the hedonistic Balearic crowds jumping, he’s also got a large amount of fans amongst the serious-looking lovers of underground electronic music. Besides being a DJ and a musician, Eric Estornel is also a business man, so he knows very well how to cater to his very diverse set of admirers - a quality that comes in very handy when playing to the diverse crowds that Tomorrowland attract. He may very well switch a little between the big room sound he’d play during a typical Ibiza set and some more minimal sounding treats. Get ready for a varied and entertaining experience!

It’s only two years ago that Ki Fitzgerald aka Azteck released his debut single, but this ultra-busy producer already worked with an endless list of some of the world’s leading artists: the likes of Armin van Buuren, Hardwell, Tiësto, Pitbull and Wiz Khalifa have all fallen for Ki’s creative skills. The calibre of these artists says enough - he clearly has an incredible talent for producing dance music with a catchy pop feel to it. An example is ‘Do It!’, which is a proper earworm. Speaking of unforgettable tunes, you will undoubtedly find yourself singing his latest release with Dimitri Vegas, David Guetta and Nicole Scherzinger, which only just drop, drop, dropped.
Bologna-born and raised DJ Gianluca Vacchi - one of Italy’s most instafamous entrepreneurs who used to run an exclusive brand of watches - is back at Tomorrowland! He first appeared in 2019 when he got to curate his very own Latin-flavoured dance music stage. The youngster (in spirit, not in age, as he’s 54) only got into DJ’ing a year or six ago, after which he went straight into promoting, doing his very own club night in party mecca Ibiza. To get an impression of the entertainment value of this grey-haired yet young-bodied Italian social media star, we highly recommend you check out his hilarious Instagram account.

REFLECT THE MUSIC PSYTRANCE The Reflection of Love is all about unity – a unity of loving souls, but also a gathering of widely disparate musical styles. For those who like to brush up on their musical knowledge, or explore a set of sounds they’ve not danced to before, it’s time to take a deep dive into the history of one of the many genres found at Tomorrowland. Today, we discuss one of the most mind-bending of all electronic styles – psytrance.

That’s right, the veterans of psytrance are bringing their magic to Boom today! Artists hardly come more classic than this within the genre and if you’re into mind-elevating sounds, you should really try to make it to this performance. The Israeli duo have been around since 1996, pushing out track after track and album after album. With such a massive catalogue behind them, their show is bound to be worthwhile. Listen carefully and you will realise that their compositions often contain a wide range of drum beats, melodies, basslines and tempos. Adventurers of Tomorrow, have fun expanding your psyches!
The new generation of DJs and producers coming out of Mexico’s vibrant music scene is here. Meet the uncrowned leaders of this generation: Tom & Collins, longtime friends and producers known as Juan Pablo Escudero and Jorge Corral in their daily lives. The team kicked off their career by humbly spinning tunes at friends’ parties. Sure enough, they quickly moved up the nightlife ladder, rapidly progressing to local events and eventually some of the most exclusive clubs in Latin America. Nowadays, you’ll see Tom & Collins shine on the line-ups of some of the largest festivals across the globe including, of course, Tomorrowland here in Belgium.
LISTEN For today’s genre, our time-and-space-machine takes us back to the late ‘80s. Where are we? We’ve been dropped in two different places: the island of Ko PhaNgan in Thailand and Goa, on a stretch of its Indian coastline. Here, full moon parties are in full swing and the hippies travelling to these exotic beaches start looking for a sound that is a little more alternative than club-based dance music genres like house and techno. They need a soundtrack for their ocean-side lives, one that carries nicely over water. They find what they’re looking for in a brand-new genre of music based on round beats, seemingly inspired by the thumping sounds of little rocks thrown into the water combined with never-ending free spirited basslines and psychedelic melodies, always leaving something new to discover. From these Asian coastlines, the new psychedelic trance starts to slowly gain popularity across alternative rave communities around the world. Initially ignored by mainstream and underground clubbers alike, Israel was one of the first places where psytrance started gaining popularity. Fast forward to five years ago, when, after an ageing process of over three decades, artists like Armin van Buuren and Sub Zero Project started flirting with the genre. Today, psytrance has finally become a fully-accepted part of electronic music, as you can tell by this Sunday's lineup. With Infected Mushroom and Vini Vici, Israel is still well-represented in the scene. But the genre is also unthinkable in the sets of techno DJ Indira Paganotto, of whom it will not surprise you to learn that her father was a DJ in Goa in the ‘80s himself.

Coming from psytrance epicentre Israel, Matan Kadosh and Aviram Saharai have introduced many ravers to their mind-elevating genre. With psytrance reaching wider and wider audiences as of late, noone less than Armin van Buuren started noticing the duo a few years back, which resulted in an incredible collaborative track: ‘Great Spirit’. Matan and Aviram, who started making music together as Sesto Sento over twenty years ago, have since released tracks with some of the most in-demand names in the industry including Timmy Trumpet, Steve Aoki and Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike. If you think you can’t do without a decent dose of psytrance this weekend, make sure to head to The Library stage today.
Rune Reilly Kölsch’ name may sound like he’s from the German city of Cologne, but one of the most admired DJs in the world of soulful techno is definitely Danish. This master is literally able to bring his audience to tears of joy with his deep melodies, both with his sets as with his productions on the legendary Kompakt label (which is based in - surprise, surprise - Cologne!). Soundwise, Kölsch can go many directions, whether that’s house or techno, underground or more mainstream. The always recognisable man with the hat played Tomorrowland’s Mainstage before, but now that he’s playing the somewhat smaller Freedom stage, you may hear his set to verge a little more to the underground side of things. A set to look forward to, that’s for sure!
