FOCUS ON THE MUSIC

Hear The Singing Of The Birds

FRIDAY 21 JULY

DRUMCODE | ATMOSPHERE

The name Drumcode says it all: this is where you go if you like it heavy on the beat. Hosting Atmosphere today is one of Sweden’s longest established techno labels, founded in 1996 by Adam Beyer. Highlights on the program include Eli Brown, known for his gritty, twisted and dancefloor-tailored house productions; Oliver Heldens aka HI-LO versus Layton Giordani playing a nu-school techno set; and the uncrowned Dutch king of smooth techno, Joris Voorn. And the Drumcode line-up wouldn’t be complete without a smashing closing set by Mr. Beyer himself. If you love your techno, then definitely reserve a few hours for Atmosphere today.

Stage Hostings

SATURDAY 22 JULY

AFTERLIFE | FREEDOM

Berlin’s excellent Afterlife Records has grown to become one of the most incredible and most respected imprints when it comes to uplifting, mind-bending and tranceinfused techno. It’s a platform for music that truly takes your mind to another level, makes your feet go wonky, your head go woozy and your stomach feel bassy. They’re naturally bringing along some of the strongest artists from their stunning roster, one of them being Berlin-based producer Kevin de Vries, who recently released an excellent cut entitled ‘Gate’, together with Kölsch. Closing the stage are Afterlife label bosses Tale of Us themselves.

Q-DANCE | FREEDOM

Q-dance are the people behind Defqon.1, the world-famous festival celebrating the harder styles of electronic dance music. With their excellent approach to organising raves and festivals, they’ve played a key role in making hardstyle and hardcore hipper than they ever were before. Whereas gabber fans looked kind of wild in the 1990s, those fast & accurate beats are now welcomed by ravers of all sorts. So if you’re unfamiliar with these staggering BPMs, get yourself together and give it a try! Keep an eye out for sets by Frequencerz, Outsiders, MANDY, Brennan Heart and Angerfist.
