People of Tomorrow,
COME RAIN OR SHINE, WE WILL UNITE! THE LEGACY OF MELODIA We’ve already built up a legacy of two days of mindbending beats and melodies, and today will be musical bliss yet again! Wake up with the smooth sounds of Mark Kinchen and his comrades, get hyped up by Bakermat & Friends or Versuz, then unleash all your energy at Smash the House or at Yellow Claw’s Barong Family stage. Everyone who matters is here, from Dutch techno/house prodigy De Sluwe Vos to British drum ‘n bass wizards Koven. Meanwhile Hardwell, Tiësto and many other greats take over the Mainstage; Melodia is truly living up to its name.
Another day, a new experience. After Friday’s sunny beginnings, the weather gods displayed an entirely different temperament Saturday morning. For the ones at DreamVille it was a little tough at first, with tents wet and almost blown away by heavy winds. Nothing, however, can ultimately withhold the People of Tomorrow from coming together. Soon enough, the Mainstage arena became a dancefloor for those who didn’t mind the rain, while the rest took cover in other places and got into the right mood there. All were ultimately rewarded: as the rain stopped and the wind died down, blue patches shone through the
clouds and rainclothes began coming off. Again, it was proven that in the Kingdom of Melodia, there will be music no matter what. On what is regrettably the final day of the weekend, the lush fields and enchanting corners of the country will be set ablaze with magic once again. For one more entire day, you have a chance to dance and laugh your way into eternity. Eternity – because unrelentingly, the King remains at work. All you do he still records with patience; soon, his Symphony of Unity will be complete. And we are all part of it.
Hey mister DJ,
Martin Garrix
MOVE OVER!
Get ready for the Tomorrowland surprise of the weekend. The Belgian National Orchestra will blow everyone away with their version of some absolute dance classics at 2:30 p.m. on the Opera stage.

THE KINGDOM’S HIDDEN CORNERS In a land as big as Melodia, it’s easy to lose track of where you want to go. Even on the weekend’s final day, this newspaper will serve as your guide to Tomorrowland. Not only metaphorically, but also literally: as an introduction, we show you around little-known spots and secret hideaways to explore all across the grounds. Today, you are introduced to the ins and outs of the Mainstage and the surrounding amphitheatre. This being the third time you roll out of your tent and into the festival fray, you might need a little longer to

recover than usual. Even during the day, a couple minutes of sitting down and chilling out will be no luxury. And what better place to do that than on the very edge of the Mainstage pit? Facing the stage, look to your left and you’ll find a ramp where you can climb all the way up. Once you reach the top you’ll be greeted by the same spectacular view as when you first enter Tomorrowland from DreamVille, but in this spot, you’re much more likely to find a place to sit down for a bit. While you’re there, squint your eyes, pretend to have a pair of binoculars
and take in the immaculate details of the castle before you. It’s crowned by innumerable horn-blowing gargoyles, waterfalls cascade off its sides, and to the right the King himself sits proudly on his throne. Lights illuminate the building’s gorgeous features from above, from below, in ever-changing configurations. And finally, observe the castle’s most impressive feature: the enormous water organs, where air and aqua meet to make the most beautiful of sounds. If there ever was a better viewpoint from which to take in the amazing atmosphere of Tomorrowland, we certainly haven’t heard of it.

While you proved yourselves to be proper citizens of Melodia yesterday, we were lucky enough to catch some early birds having breakfast on DreamVille. Some of you still had a gleam of sleep in their eyes, others pouted their lips against to the rain. But whether it was the lack of sleep or disdain for the weather forecast: in a matter of seconds all frowns were turned upside down, when their wearers realized that this is the dawn of another magical day at Tomorrowland. There was only one right thing to do: hop along on the treadmill with DreamVille’s bike orchestra and step it up. March towards the rainbow gate to the music these melodic bikers laid down upon you. Since everyone had already had their shower, that didn’t nearly take as long as you’d expect. Time for another day at Tomorrowland!
BREAKING FAST WITH… Ah, the smell of fresh coffee in the morning! We sat down with Dutch guys Niels, Terry, Luc, Joeri, Koert and Stijn, who proved themselves to be true inventors and camping masterminds. They MacGyvered themselves an espresso machine using nothing more than a plastic bottle, a coffee filter and, of course, boiling water and coffee. Surprisingly enough, the coffee tasted amazing and was as warm as our company – although they did have a bit of a rough night: “A piece of our tent was torn off last night and our party tent didn’t survive, but other than that we’re doing great. Off to a great start today!”

You might think that you either packed everything you need, or that one of the many DreamVille bazaars sells exactly those items that you may have forgotten. Well, guess again. Some things are just not for sale. Like the great prophets of love John Lennon and Paul McCartney used to say: you can’t buy me love. Unfortunately that’s just what Silvy needs right now. “I’m in desperate need of some male warmth. No, not like that! My boyfriend is at home because he wasn’t able to get tickets, so I’m here just with my girls. But I miss him so much! He gives me a massage pretty much every day and I might just miss that aspect just a bit more than I miss him, haha! So here’s my call to all the strong-armed boys out there: if you’re willing to rub my back, I’d be willing to provide the happy ending by giving you a warm and welldeserved hug.” Any knights in shiny armour that are willing to veer out their massage-skills on this damsel in distress can meet up with her at the Blue Infopoint today at noon.
“Last night we saw Steve Aoki, and man, did we have a blast!” Felix, Kristof Nico and David are dining like true kings and have laid out a buffet with bread, fresh toast, hot coffee, marmalade and even some boiled eggs.
Having danced all night to the likes of Avicii and Armin, Markus, Johan, Markus and Handrey came back to DreamVille pretty exhausted. “Luckily we’ve brought the breakfast of champions with us: protein bars and beer!”

Jilca, Stephanie, Steffen and Juju from Belgium proved themselves to be the bravest of all Gauls, enduring the rain like true heroes. “We’re not hung over at all and we slept quite well. People should sleep outside more, the rain is really soothing!”
DID YOU EVER WONDER?
A thousand questions, a thousand and one answers. The allknowing birds and bees of the District houses provide the answer to any question you can conjure up. Jan, Sandro, Malthael, Jan and Stefanie are from Switzerland and proud to be! “We’re ready and we definitely want some more today. But first, let’s finish our freshly-baked bread with cheese and salmon and a nice glass of orange juice.”
TIP FOR TOMORROW
After you’re done partying today, tomorrow comes the great cleanup. Please ignore your hangover for a bit and either pack up your tent and take it with you, or dispose of it properly in a recycling bin. Once that’s done, clean up your spot and leave it in a pristine state for the next year of Tomorrow. Melodia’s King thanks you for taking care!

YESTERDAY TENS OF THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE FROM ALL OVER THE WORLD LOOKED EACH OTHER RIGHT IN THE EYE. THEY SEARCHED AND FOUND A CONNECTION THROUGH UNITE – THE MIRROR TO TOMORROWLAND – WHICH BROUGHT TOGETHER THE PEOPLE AT TOMORROWLAND AND THEIR BROTHERS AND SISTERS IN MUMBAI AND MEXICO CITY.
INDIA
You can have a toast – with a Belgian pint of beer – to friendship together with a Russian guy and an Australian girl, you can join in a dance with Mexicans and Cubans, wave the Norwegian and Swedish flag, wake up on DreamVille next to a Finnish bunch that are having French croissants with their Spanish neighbours… The international character of Tomorrowland is beyond belief. The whole world almost literally meets once a year at De Schorre as Tomorrowland has more nationalities than there are Olympic gold winners. This weekend Tomorrowland crossed borders again by setting up a live video connection with the festival on two different continents. Yesterday from 8:30 p.m. (CEST) until midnight a live satellite link was put up that connected Tomorrowland in Belgium with Mexico City and Mumbai. The Mexicans had just finished lunch while the Indians on the other side of the world partied until deep in the night. Both cities were able to join in the madness and experience live streams of the Mainstage sets by Martin Garrix, Armin van Buuren and Dimitri Vegas and Like Mike. In between the sets of Armin van Buuren and Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike the Unite connection was made with Mexico and India. The guardians of Melodia held a mirror towards the crowd in front of the Mainstage and opened the pathway towards the world. This was your moment of love, and it was felt on continents far, far away.
MEXICO
After having partied together with all the people here in Boom, on the other side of the mirror the feast continued with live sets by local DJ talent. Even after you guys went to sleep, Mumbai and Mexico City kept the party going in a scenery that was just as magical and immersed in the Tomorrowland atmosphere – including a jaw-dropping special effects show to finish it all off. Building bridges between Belgium and the rest of the world, with plenty of great music and a spoonful of Tomorrowland magic: that’s what it’s all about. Through Unite, people 10,000 kilometres apart were able to experience Tomorrowland and that’s the festival’s way of making the world a bit smaller. Because we may very well all look different, but deep inside, we are one.

Hey Martin, you just flew in from Ibiza, right? Are you feeling fresh and ready? “Yeah, I just landed a couple hours ago and got a few hours of sleep last night. I think I might have a small cold coming up. But hey, it’s Tomorrowland, so I’m sure I will be fine the moment I step on stage tonight.”
Not even in his 20’s, he has already worked with some of the biggest names in the music business. We are not even going to name them, ‘cause you probably already know. And working with some of the biggest names in the music industry makes you the biggest guy in the industry. In between a slew of interviews and other obligations, we found some time to sit down and talk about the adventurous life of Martin Garrix. Inside the press area of Tomorrowland, at the moment when Martin arrives, things feel more like a red carpet premiere show than a festival. Everybody and everything around us is focused on Martin. That’s what happens when one of the hottest producers in the world steps into a room. What we wanted to do was to ask Martin some questions about himself and his songs. What we got is a full-on scoop – thanks to the ease with which this young and bright mind talks.
So, we saw a mysterious picture you posted all around social media this week. It’s got something to do with a flag of some sorts and your logo. We where wondering if you could share this secret with us… The moment we ask this question Martin glances sideways to his press agent in the background, then focuses his look on us again. After a spot of doubt he tells her that he will reveal the picture’s meaning. She looks up, at her phone again, and utters a curt “Okay, let’s do it.” Martin is through the roof. “There is gonna be a huge Amsterdam show! My first headline show in the Netherlands, actually. So I think you have your scoop there. I can’t even tell you when and where it is. Before you know it I’ll spill the whole thing because I’m so excited about it. And that is not really the intention!” Wow, there’s a bit of news we won’t top anytime soon. But let’s continue. You’ve worked together with so many people and have surely learned a thing or two. What’s the most memorable thing? “It’s not one concrete thing that I learned while working with somebody. It’s rather the way they work. What they do in the studio, or what they think. What is memorable though is the thing Sebasrian Ingrosso told me. And that’s never to put my name on something if it doesn’t represent me. That’s a thing I want to remember when I am working on something. It’s not about working on club bangers or about doing something that people want me to do. It’s about me feeling certain about everything I put my name on. And about never doing something that’s not me.”
13
But they also broaden your horizons considering music production? “Definitely. Working together with songwriters like Usher or Ed Sheeran gives you a totally different outlook. I really had that house formula in my head while working with them. You know, a long intro, then a break and after that a huge build up and a drop. But Ed Sheeran told me that he almost fell asleep during the first 30 seconds he heard a song that I did for him. He said it should be totally different in sound and structure. Working with guys from various kinds of music makes you really take everything into account music-wise.” Does that also include guys like The Weeknd? You’d been wanting to work with him for a long time, right? “Haha, yeah, that actually worked out really well. If you have listened closely to my set yesterday you might have heard a recognizable voice in my second track. It’s a remix I did for the song I Can’t Feel My Face. My contact with The Weeknd is pretty close and I hope there is potential there for a future collaboration. Everything about The Weeknd is on point. The music, the lyrics, his shows… I understand that when people talk about him they compare him to Michael Jackson, and they’re right to do so. He is just that good.” It’s clear to us that world domination is one of your goals. You did so much stuff in such a short time. What is there still left for you to do? “I really want to go deeper into film music. I did a track for the movie 22 Jump Street, which was a lot of fun. But that’s more the production side of me than the entertainer side. The stuff guys like Noisia and Junkie XL do is a huge inspiration and motivator for me. But besides that, I want to keep making tracks and put out an album.”

This isn’t just white wine with bubbles, it’s a lifestyle and a way of transforming history into cava. The same authentic atmosphere you would feel walking through the landscapes surrounding the vineyards is brought to the Vallformosa Bodega on the grounds of Tomorrowland. “With our extraordinary view on the lake and our swings, this is a very much desired place for people to come and chill out for a while,” explains a Vallformose crewmember. “It’s the perfect area for some relaxed lounging.”

AVOID FOOD QUEUES!
To avoid waiting in line for too long, plan your meals smart and avoid the peak hours between 6 and 8 p.m. Better to have two small meals quickly than a large one slowly.
LOOK YOUR BEST L’Oreal comes down to DreamVille this year to bring all of its beautiful girls an actual beauty parlour. Two of them, in fact. To get some art done on your nails or some playful lines around your eyes, pay a visit to Angels of Beauty at the DreamVille Marketplace. There are various style options to pick from the look book. Maybe try ‘Indian Summer’ or ‘Princess of Madness’? Some are more bohemian, some more colourful. Next to Angels of Beauty is the regular l‘Oreal shop with professional barbers, ready to provide you with a new hairdo. Entering the venue feels like stepping into a fairytale. The make-up artists and the barbers look incredible. And seeing as it’s our last day in Melodia today, there’s reason enough to make yourself even more beautiful!
JUMP FOR JOY
At DreamVille, you can get the most dynamic pictures taken at the Spa stand. Jump on the trampoline and into the picture. Think long and hard about the pose you’re going to strike in the air. A well-timed pose, alone or with your boyfriend or girlfriend, can result in a legendary picture that’ll last a lifetime. The theme of the photos is in line with the Tomorrowland Mainstage. Just like at the Mainstage, there’s a waterfall! In this case, it’s used as a background. And wait until you hear the best part. You can take the picture with you immediately, and it’s completely free!
HAKUNA MA VODKA! Vodka-cola, vodka-Red Bull or vodka-pretty-muchanything is available at the bars all over the festival grounds, but at the Smirnoff Cocktail Bar next to the Cafeina stage you can give yourself a real vodka treat: a refreshing strawberry daiquiri or a mojito. All cocktails are minute-made on the spot, using only the freshest ingredients like lemon and strawberries accompanied by premium vodka. “Although mojito’s are very much in demand, most people are curious to try out the mysterious Tomorrowland Cocktail – of which the ingredients remain a secret,” the crew explains. You know what they say: a vodka cocktail a day keeps the doctor away. And these cocktails are exclusively for everybody!

YESTERDAY THIS CONCEPT HOSTED THE SECOND BIGGEST STAGE, THE OPERA. TOMORROWLAND TODAY’S REPORTERS VISITED HIM IN THE ARTIST VILLAGE TO TALK ABOUT HIS LOVE FOR TOMORROWLAND. Luke has performed at this festival for years now; he already played here when Tomorrowland was still pretty small. “I can very well remember the times when Tomorrowland was still the cute daughter of Mysteryland, where I’d already performed before that. They asked me if I also wanted to play at Tomorrowland, which I did. It only had a few stages back then, but look at it right now. I still can’t believe it when driving into Boom, to be honest. Who would expect the most infamous festival ever is happening here? I never expected that, but I’m very glad it happened. And to have the opportunity to be a part of it, of course, because the festival is still very special for me. Like I already told my family and friends, this weekend is ‘the big one’, and for me it really feels like that. I do over a 150 shows every year – including some really big festivals – but Tomorrowland is still the one.” Nowadays he’s not only performing here himself, but he takes a whole group of superheroes to support him at his own stage. The Super You&Me concept became very well known, so it’s not a surprise that Luke and his concept have their place at Tomorrowland. “Hosting a stage on this festival is just bizarre; it is still a dream come true. It’s the fourth year I’m doing this, but I’m still extremely grateful that it’s possible and that I get this opportunity. It’s amazing.” But it’s also an amazing experience for the visitors. Seeing your favorite artist performing on stage in a superhero suit is just madness. Luke puts in a lot of effort to give his fans the best possible experience. “Do I have to put in more effort to arrange this booking? That’s certainly true, but basically it’s only fun work. It doesn’t feel like more work to me. I’m wearing a custom-made superhero outfit, and we included an extra special show element to the superhero set. Add to that the fact that millions of people are watching our set on the livestream, so I can’t play the same records as last week... Yes, it was more work to prepare this booking. But I did it with pleasure!”
“Yes, it was a lot of work to prepare this booking. But I did it with pleasure!”
The suits Laidback Luke wears are extremely impressive. And for the people who think that he buys them in just any random costume shop: you’re wrong! “Years ago we did a superhero costume contest together with Marvel. Stan Lee, the brain behind most of the famous Marvel comics, and Todd McFarlane, the creator of Family Guy, were members of the jury of this contest. And the goal was to design a new costume for me! We had over a hundred designs, many of which I have thankfully used over the past few years. Yesterday I was wearing the number four contestant from that day, in fact.” You can’t get any gloser to being a real superhero than this.

WHILE THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE GATHER AT TOMORROWLAND MILLIONS UNFORTUNATELY HAVE TO STAY HOME, WISHING FOR BETTER TIMES TO COME. ESPECIALLY FOR THEM, FOR THE FIRST TIME THIS YEAR A LIVE SHOW The clock is running. Make the most of today. Time waits for no man. Today is a gift. That's why it is called the present. IS BROADCAST FROM RIGHT INSIDE THE MAINSTAGE. TOMORROWLAND TV HOST, WILL BEST, AWAITS THE DJS THERE JUST BEFORE THEY GO ON STAGE.
The clock is running. Make the most of today. Time waits for no man. Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is a mystery. Today is a gift. That's why it isEVERY called the present. YEAR,
What are you doing up there? “We make a show to let people from all around the world know how special Tomorrowland is. And to spread some of the energy, the feeling of unity all over the world. There are people from 214 different nationalities on these fields. So hopefully, people from all those nations are watching at home too. My job is to be the representative of those people. It helps that this is my first time on Tomorrowland ever. I’m so impressed by all the stages. I’ve never seen anything like it!” And you have the best spot on the festival right away. How did you get in there in the first place? “I’ve worked for several TV channels in the UK, including MTV, and interviewed a lot of DJs, producers and other people in the scene. My passion always has been electronic music. Apparently, Tomorrowland was looking for a new host and asked around. That’s how they found me.”
Name: Will Best Age: 30 (“I know, you wouldn’t say. I’m not even sure the TV channel knows I’m 30. They probably think I’m 21 years old! But I’ve got more live experience.”) From: UK Studied: History Visited Tomorrowland for the first time: 2015 Up next: “I work for another music channel called 4Music and I’m going to do some stuff for the BBC later this year. If I do my job well, hopefully I can go to Tomorrowland Brasil and TomorrowWorld too.”
Can you explain the feeling when you are in a room on top of the Mainstage? “I feel like a star. The best thing by far is that you can literally feel the energy of the people outside. I feel them clapping, screaming, dancing. They are separated from me by just a small piece of glass. The whole stage shakes! It’s cool when the DJs arrive at the studio because, even when they’ve just played, they are amazed by this spot. There’s carpet on the floor, so I don’t wear any shoes. Sometimes the DJ puts of his shoes as well. I try to create a nice atmosphere. We have a drink, a chat. We take it easy.” Is it the atmosphere that separates your interviews from the hundreds of other interviews the DJs take? “When I do my interview, the DJ has either just performed or is about to go on stage. They are full of adrenaline and excitement. David Guetta came in the other day, he was like a little kid. When he saw the crowd and the screens, he was like ‘Oh my god this is insane!’ and jumped around the whole time. And furthermore, I don’t ask the DJ when his – or her – next song will be launched. We talk about Tomorrowland, about the spirit of everyone here and about the gig.” How do you experience Tomorrowland yourself? “I go live from 7 p.m. so I have some time to walk around during the day. The Mainstage looks just fantastic, of course, but the other stages are great as well. The Opera stage, the Café d’Anvers stage with the books. And the DJs playing those stages are even greater. Carl Cox, Seth Troxler. I’m a fan! After 7 p.m. we are live until the end, so I don’t go anywhere else. But think about it, I’m in the Mainstage. Were else should I go after 7?”

USA GOES BELGIUM
Making new friends is not usually something you do every day, but luckily Tomorrowland is everything but a usual day. Making friends here is incredibly easy, as most of you have probably noticed by now. And some have made it even easier by creating friendships before the festival actually started. One of the initiatives to arrange such a thing is the Facebook group ‘Tomorrowland 2015 USA to Belgium’. More than 200 Americans joined this group in the past few months so they didn’t have to wait alone for so long. Tomorrowland Today joined their meeting to ask them a few questions.
Darshan Kapadia was kind enough to inform us about the meet up at the Mainstage yesterday. He is from New Jersey and has been looking forward to Tomorrowland for a long time: “We created this group to unite as many Americans as possible and look forward to the festival together. The group has been active since February and is composed of mostly Americans, with some Canadians thrown in as well. Some of us already met in New York, we also traveled together on the Global Journey so we were already pretty thrilled when we got here.” Darshan is obviously very excited to be here and he hopes that this group will stay connected in the future. “Tomorrowland is a great place to make new friends, so I hope we will keep in touch after this weekend to visit more events together. There are so many beautiful people on this festival it’s just amazing. I’m a big fan of this organization as well by the way, I’ve already been to TomorrowWorld, Sensation and Mysteryland USA before I had the chance to come here.” Another Tomorrowland enthusiast who was present at the meeting is Mike Calabrese from Chicago. “I joined the group about a month ago, with the same idea as the creators of this group: meet fellow Americans that go to Boom. I’m so extremely happy to be here, this festival is really the best that has ever happened to me, and trust me, I’ve seen a lot already. It’s like having an out-of-body experience for the whole weekend! Tomorrowland is just pure happiness; this is how life should be. The whole world needs to be united. Everybody should just always be happy with his or her life and dance as much as possible. That is exactly what’s happening right here right now, I wish the whole world was like this.”

CHEF’S PODIUM
The clock is running. Make the most of today. Time waits for no man. Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is a mystery. Today is a gift. That's why it is called the present.
High above the valley, looking down on the Mainstage in all its glory, the roughly 700 hungry people per day. Quite the challenge for Viki Geunes, chef of Michelin star restaurant ‘t Zilte in Antwerp. The man himself doesn’t stress though. “Our preparations are excellent, so I’m not worried.”
The clock is running. Make the most of today. Time waits for no man. feeds Today isTomorrowland a gift. That's why it is calledRestaurant the present.
Looking into the kitchen of the Tomorrowland Restaurant, it’s not hard to see who the top chef is. Geunes is constantly on his way, keeps an eye on everything and gives short but kind orders to his team of ten chefs. In twenty minutes the first guests of the day will arrive, so it’s all about the details now. While the chef is quickly – but with deadly precision – making vinaigrette to accompany the salmon, he makes some time to talk to us. “Of course it’s hectic, serving 700 people per day. So I’ve come up with a menu that, if the preparations are all in place, we can serve quite quickly and easily. There are some differences between cooking in my own restaurant and cooking at Tomorrowland. In ‘t Zilte, we cook a bit more traditional foods, while we’re trying to cook a more global menu at Tomorrowland. We have influences from Indonesia, Thailand, Italia, France and more.” Unfortunately, the restaurant is fully booked for this weekend, but Geunes has some tips to make your own DreamVille dream meal.
“The trend in cooking these days is that vegetables are no longer just a side meal, but can be main courses as well.” “The trend in cooking these days is that vegetables are no longer just a side meal, but can be main courses as well. Because it’s hard to cook a hot meal at DreamVille, I would recommend you to follow this trend and make a nice salad. Get your hands on as many vegetables as you can and combine them with a piece of bread and a small piece of meat if you have access to one of the barbecues. A bit of olive oil on top of it and you have a nice, healthy meal in just a couple of minutes.” Before we know it we’re back in the restaurant, where in the meantime, everything has been put in place for the first guests. Geunes tells about the mind-blowing experience it is to work at Tomorrowland. “This view is amazing, sometimes it’s hard to stay focused because of all the craziness that’s happening in front of us. When the valley is full of people, the music is booming and the laser show is on… That’s just (he rolls up his sleeve to show his arm) goosebumps. Incredible.”
The Tomorrowland Restaurant has been completely renewed not only menu-wise, but also by means of decoration. Inside, you can enjoy a nice three-course meal with a complimentary glass of wine and the view of a lifetime. Every year, the Restaurant invites a true culinary artist, who prepares a special Tomorrowland menu.

PUSSY LOUNGE Freestyle meets fantasy at Tomorrowland! Today b2s – a Netherlands based event promoter – will take over stage number 13. It’s time for Pussy Lounge! For the people that don’t know the concept yet: Pussy Lounge is a Freestyle concept in the harder styles of dance music. Nothing is too outlandish here; as long as it’s hard and makes the crowd go crazy, it goes. Last year was theTomorrowland debut of this Freestyle circus and today promises to get even crazier. Prepare for sexy entertainment shows and beats by DJs like Darkraver, Mark with a K and The Viper. Prepare for madness!
DAVE CLARKE
FORMA.T INVITES MK
At 4 p.m. today Dave Clarke will take over the Opera Stage for the 4th time in a row. Reviewing his presence over the years before, this will probably be an epic show again. Clarke is supported by Chris Liebing, Green Velvet, Paul Kalkbrenner and Pierre. Paul will take over the stage – the second biggest of the festival, by the way – to bring a broad range of cuttingedge underground dance. Dave will share his unconditional love for techno with all of you. Make sure you pay this stage a visit today to find out what techno is supposed to sound like.
Forma.T invites new forces to help them build a massive and diverse party at Tomorrowland this year. Detroit househead Mark Kinchen (aka MK) and his area Area 10 concept are joining the team this year. Forma.T Records is a Belgium based party crew that doesn’t like to put a label on their sound. They’ll play and program whatever they feel like, from techno to house, electo to dubstep and even some hip-hop. MK’s presence ensures a loose focus on house, but still, expect the unexpected. You are sure to be surprised at the Forma.T stage!

FUNKERMAN FOCUS ON GLORIOUS SUNDAY VERSUZ | 19h00 - 20h00
Funkerman, a.k.a. Ardie van Beek, started working on his career at a young age and it finally skyrocketed in 2006, thanks to his monster track Speed Up. Almost ten years later, he keeps on going strong and has been invited to play the Versuz stage. We went to have a little chat with the house legend before today’s performance at Tomorrowland. When it comes to music, you’re a real househead. But what did you do before you started to play records? “That’s a hard question, because I started doing music at a young age. I think I was twelve when I bought my first record player. Before that I did a little bit of skateboarding. But I was already far more interested in music. And I was still a kid, you know, just starting to comprehend everything that happened around me. When I was in high school I also started making my own music, which was a little more difficult then than it is now. Nowadays everybody has a computer; back in the day I had to rent a studio with loads and loads of equipment to hone my skills there. I never really started out with the idea of becoming a DJ. I mean, I didn’t even know what it was to be an actual DJ. I just loved playing records in my bedroom. Doing it in public only came around the time I started to go out and party.” Did you start out playing house or hip-hop? Which was more popular at that time? “Yeah, I started out with hip-hop because house was really small and up and coming back then. I started playing it when I was fourteen and it was really obscure. You couldn’t buy it at every record store or hear it in
every club that you went to. There was just a small group of people who played it, sold it and listened to it. That’s also the reason I hung out at record shops a lot. I wasn’t allowed in clubs and bars yet.”
less nervous, but it still shows sometimes. I will probably be a bit more tense than usual tomorrow.”
In 2006 you released Speed Up, which became a worldwide hit. How did that feel back then? Dance wasn’t as popular yet, after all, and there were no online music platforms yet. “Around the time ‘Speed Up’ came out dance music was in a transition from vinyl to the compact disc (CD). So it still was a bit vintage or underground. Nowadays everybody knows dance music and even my parents have dance records in their cupboard. Back then it was amazing to see that my song was in all the charts and everybody knew it.”
You have been working hard and steady on your career. Recently you took a sabbatical, was that to focus on new music? “Haha, well, ‘sabbatical’ might be overly fancy in this context. I just had a few months of alone time in the studio and didn’t do too many gigs. Instead of losing track I was actually on track with my music. I started to notice that house was making a comeback and wanted to make new music and let people know I am still on top of my game. I made a new album but I haven’t released it yet. But I feel more and more comfortable with the stuff I started making. I consider it to be a new anchor point in my career.”
And what did that do for you and your career? “Everything. But such a period has two sides to it. It’s exciting as well as hard. You’ve been working on music for years and then suddenly one of your songs explodes. I didn’t know really how to handle it because I didn’t see it coming. The first time playing abroad, the first time doing a tour in America and stuff like that is really special. The extensive touring might have made me a little
You’ve seen a lot of places. What makes Tomorrowland stand out for you? “Well, I’ve been to Tomorrowland a few times before, so I know what to expect. But it really is that one festival of the year where everybody from the whole world is involved. Everything about it is top notch: the artists, the stages and the whole production. So I am sure it will be really fun tomorrow.”

Pete Tong is the renowned voice of Britain’s BBC Radio 1’s dance programming. There are few individuals in the world of dance music who can claim to have had the kind of influence Pete Tong has over the past twenty years. Hosting several British radio shows, club nights all around the globe and being a successful DJ as well, he is a flagship of the international dance industry. His BBC Essential Mix show continues to be the international holy grail of mix shows, while his other show Essential Selection is – after almost two decades – still one of the best places to premiere a new record. On the DJ front, you can find Pete playing in Los Angeles, Miami and Las Vegas once a month. His All Gone Pete Tong brand has achieved global recognition through parties in Ibiza and in Miami during WMC, as well as stages at festivals like Creamfields, SW4 and Tomorrowland.
ROTTERDAM TERROR CORPS Barong Family | 23h00 – 00h00 Founded in 1993, Rotterdam Terror Corps could be called one of hardcore music’s live-act pioneers. DJ Distortion started the infamous formation to give another sound to the already existing happy hardcore music. That was the start of something nigh eternal: with more than twenty years of experience RTC are real veterans of the hard dance scene. Over these years they did more than a thousand live performances and over 500 DJ bookings, spreading their raw, fast, sharp-edged sound to people all over The Netherlands and beyond. But this act is something entirely novel for Tomorrowland, something unheard of and never seen before. So are you ready for something new? For something extremely hard, probably the hardest music you’ve ever seen on stage? Then you should join them for the closing at the Barong Family stage tonight. Don’t forget your black flag with the white skull…
FRANK ZOLEX
Age of Love | 19h00 – 20h00
With such a long history it’s hard to describe this man in just a few sentences. Frank dropped out of school at the age of 19 to become a professional DJ, and not without success. In the early 90’s he started to focus on electronic music only and became one of the most popular DJs in the Benelux in an instant. When he launched his own label Zolex Records things went fast. He started playing on almost all bigger events in Europe and other places around the world. In the meanwhile, Frank became the resident DJ of several big techno/house institutions like Barocci and Katsu. It’s difficult to label his musical style: he spins from Techno to house to breakbeat to progressive. His sets are sparked by the heart & mind and mixed from a gut feeling. Curious what his gut tells him today? Join him at the Age of Love stage around 7 o’clock!

MAGICAL FRIDAY
The clock is running. Make the most of today. Time waits for no man. Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is a mystery. Today is a gift. That's why it is called the present.
STEVE ANGELLO Mainstage | 19h10 – 20h30
The clock is running. Make the most of today. Time waits for no man. Today is a gift. That's why it is called the present.
Steve was once part of the Holy Trinity called Swedish House Mafia. But before that, he was already performing magic on the turntables with hip-hop, breakbeats and 1970’s classics. He only switched to our precious EDM afterwards. For the past decades he’s been a key element in the international dance scene. Besides being DJ and producer Angello is a versatile entrepreneur. He runs his own label SIZE in which he covers the roles of creative director, music director and art director. Steve monitors the label’s progress without forgetting its intention: spreading new music. Before this, for a very brief time Steve was signed to Def Jam Recordings, but the man soon took matters into his own hands and became independent with SIZE. If everything goes according to plan Steve will release his solo album called Wild Youth on his own label very soon. And a little bird told us that some songs even have a matching video as well.
Yeah it’s that time of the year again! Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano checking in! We’re really excited about this one. Back in the days when we started DJ’ing, we dreamed about playing all the big festivals. In 2012 this dream became a reality, we got to play the HOLY GROUNDS of Tomorrowland. We remember the energy level was way up, the crowd was massive and there was such a good overall vibe. Tomorrowland brought us some amazing experiences. Last year we got to play at Tomorrowland Brasil. We were invited by Laidback Luke to play his Super You&Me stage. Funny fact, the stage had one key rule: when playing the stage, you must transform into a superhero! At first it felt a bit awkward performing in our Batman (Ryan) & Spiderman (Sunnery) costumes, but in the end it was so much fun! During our set we really became Batman & Spiderman – on top of the world! It just gave things that little bit extra. Overall we made some amazing Tomorrowland memories and we’re about to add a brand new one! This all will take place at one of the most exciting places at Tomorrowland; the VERSUZ stage. We play after the talented Funkerman, and the Bingo Players will take over after our set. So you can count on it to be a sexy, steamy and groovy night. Expect from us some of our own festival bangers alternated with tracks of other artists we dig at the moment. This night is going to be one for the books! We are more than ready, are you?
STEVE COP
TOM SWOON
Coincidence | 17h30 – 19h00
Mazda Journey Island | 20h00 – 21h00
and is now enjoying family life. He has shared DJ booths with guys like Carl Craig, Laurent Garnier, Sven Väth, and many more. Steve played at clubs including La Rocca, Café d’Anvers, Bocaccio Life, Exposure and FUSE; he knows what he is doing. He even did a DJ set on the catwalk for Dirk van Saenen’s Transformations fashion show in Paris. On the production side of things, Cop has worked at R&S Records together with CJ Bolland under the name of Sonic Solution. Not very long ago he started a new concept with Peter Decuypere, called The Hipson Brothers. Having been in the scene since the early 90’s, Steve is making more time for his family right now, making his performances real rarities. Today he joins us at Tomorrowland for a set at Coincidence at 17:30.
Tom Swoon (formerly known as Pixel Cheese) first felt his passion for music at a very young age. When he was 14 he started his very own rock band, and at the age of 17 he discovered electronic dance music. This was the start of his pioneering tour; he started teaching himself the art of DJ’ing and got used to it very fast because of his gigs in the weekends. After making the first bootlegs and unofficial remixes in his makeshift studio things went fast for Tom. His productions received solid support from artists like Nervo, Gareth Emery and Laidback Luke. His first single production got released on Ultra Records, he got his own radio show and things just skyrocketed for Tom Swoon. His achievements of the past few years show that this is an artist that is definitely worth watching – so see you at the Mazda Journey Island at 8:00 p.m.!
