BELGIAN BASS GALORE! Belgium’s very own drum ‘n bass maestro, Netsky, has invited his friends over to the Rose Garden to make some noise. Move on over there for your dose of bass music!

After the Gathering yesterday and a good night’s sleep on Dreamville, it’s time to get this party started. The artists of the Amicorum Spectaculum welcome the People of Tomorrow with a breath-taking line-up including the world’s most notable DJs. Get yourself caked by Steve Aoki at Dim Mak , for instance, or enjoy the true meaning of trance with Armin van Buuren’s set at A State of Trance. Is trance a little too soft for you? Get blasted away by Rødhåd at the Core stage – hosted by Kozzmozz – or spend the entire day at the Mainstage with Martin Solveig, Nicky Romero and DJ Snake.

distinguished audience,

WELCOME HOME!

Tomorrowland is your new home, and to welcome everyone officially, a special display is being prepared. Make sure to be at the Mainstage a little before 17:00 if you wish to see the opening show.

WITNESS A SPECTACLE BEYOND IMAGINATION!

Welcome one, and welcome all, to a show that will be off-the-wall! Everything has been prepared, the rehearsals have been rounded off, and today, the curtain rises. Ernesto, Raya, Ekaterina, and Triboulet stand at the ready to show you the true meaning of performance. But they are not alone; all across the Holy Grounds, their friends arrive, ready to shower you with music and to dance to your delight. With an enormous array of stages to choose from, perhaps you’ll feel overwhelmed. But worry not: this is your new home and you can go wherever you please. Every creature

in this wondrous world will welcome you with open arms. You are free to roam, explore, peek around corners, and trail down winding paths. You are free to jump into the big crowds or get intimate at the small stages. You’re free to let go of barriers, to make new friends and to become family. That is what the Amicorum Spectaculum stands for, after all: it is a family, a troupe, a wild band of performers, bound by a sacred love for art. Today, you too will experience that love. The spectacle begins; time to dive in, one and all, and forge family bonds to last a lifetime.

Gracious Friends, Have you ever had the pleasure, truly, to dance? To float atop your tiptoes, to translate rhythms into gestures, to feel with all your soul that all your movements are just – right? Today, as our Spectaculum begins, it is time for

Once, I was like you: a child, unable to stand still whenever music played. I suspect your life then took a different turn, but as for me, I never could sit still again. My family all dancers, I inherited my place within the Amicorum guild. Even so, I worked as hard I could, since dancing never felt like work. The notes open spaces in my mind, through my limbs deep timbres flow seductively – trusting these feelings, I soared on the trapeze and twirled across the dance floor day upon day, ‘till practice made perfect. Now, having earned the honour of spearheading the Amicorum Spectaculum, I realise something: simply to dance is more important than to be perfect. And I want to share this joy with you.

nothing but that feeling. I write to you today to encourage you to move. Today, the doors to Tomorrowland open; you’re still fresh-faced and full of energy, and nothing’s there to hold you back. Go on then, dears. Take a few first cautious steps around and find your headings, find a bite to eat and a drink to sip. But you must promise me this: once you hear that joy called music, be a careless little kid again, and don’t sit still one second. From the Mainstage to the grand club called Freedom, from the Harbour House to the Organ of Harmony, I want to see you turn into a rolling sea of restless dancers. Try it out, and you’ll know a joy greater than anything else in the world.

Ekaterina – DANCER

HANDS UP HIGH,

SIX MILES IN THE SKY! From the most exotic corners of the world, visitors of Tomorrowland travel toward the festival site by airplane, and some lucky birds get treated to one-of-a-kind partyflights. Those trips lived up to their infamous moniker with magical gate parties, the finest cuisine prepared by Belgian chefs, and insane sets by on-board DJs. Flying in from 79 cities worldwide in no less than 236 flights, Brussels Airlines brought 10,000 festivalgoers to the Tomorrowland site. For those on the partyflights, the festival started on board of the plane already. Twenty thousand feet above the ground, a crowd of adventurers held their glowsticks in the air, excited and happy about coming ever closer to the festival grounds. We tagged along on one of the flights.

Airports look different when you’re off for a little vacation time, as opposed to travelling for work or other practical reasons. And needless to say, any airport will look extra lit when you’re standing in the departure hall checking the screens for your Tomorrowland partyflight. Even as you see stressed-out businessmen and families running from gate to gate, your mind is completely flee of worries. And that’s where we find you: in the crowd, wearing sunglasses, tattoos and colorful garments… The outfits of your accomplices are all different, but they have two things in common: the Tomorrowland bracelets around their wrists and the smiles on their faces. Seems like we found our crew. The atmosphere at the lobby of the airport is one of anticipation. While some festivalgoers are waiting in silence, others run into the departure hall with their hands up high, speakers on their shoulders, singing along to their favorite songs. More and more people enter the gate area, dressed in bandanas and top hats, flags around their shoulders waving like capes. There’s even one fellow with a unicorn head. Old and new friends meet, all with the same energy and excitement in their eyes, which glows up even more ardently when they see Amare descend through the clouds. The crowd runs shouting towards the window, armed with iPhones, handycams and selfie sticks, anxious to get a first snapshot of the winged beast that will soon take them on their magical journey.

Type: Airbus A320 Wingspan: 34.10m Height: 11m

Minutes later, we enter our quarters for the next few hours: a grand airplane plastered with purple and orange, a proud bird painted on its side. We find comfortable chairs waiting for us, a fancy menu and – of course – purple glowsticks. You gotta gadget up! The whole aircraft is dressed up in a magical Tomorrowland theme. There’s a funny feeling of recognition: this is like coming home. People are relaxed and joking around. After the ascent, accompanied by roars and shouts, drinks are handed out. There’s food by one of Flanders’ best-awarded chefs and beats by a Tomorrowland-certified DJ. As spicy scents of roasted chicken, vinaigrettes and parmesan cheese fill the airplane, it’s time to get the party started.

AMARE FACTS & FIGURES

Beats resound, sky-high, as the travellers close the windows to get into that real club vibe and throw their arms up. It’s like we’ve just joined a sub-chapter of the Mile-High Club! Whistles blow, hands clap, fists pump and people are swinging in their seats - we can feel a comfortable ‘turbulence’ from the collective movement. If we didn’t know better, we’d think the Rave Cave had just ascended from the ground to burn a hole into the sky. When the seatbelt signs go back on after having partied for hours everyone feels it: this is what freedom is like. We came together in a plane full of strangers, but landed as true family that just enjoyed the belgium best flight of their lives. But then… it’s only after disembarking that the actual adventure will begin. Time for Tomorrowland!

AMAZING AIRPLANE

Amare is the pride of the Brussels Airlines fleet during this weekend, flying to 7 destinations to transfer Global Journey participants from country to country. Thieplane was transformed into a great Bird of Tomorrow, entirely in Tomorrowland style. It is the only Global Journey airplane which has a DJ playing as well as a Flemish chef cooking aboard, and it’s bound to create an unforgettable experience for its passengers. Some of the biggest globetrotters of Tomorrowland opted for more than just a GJ package and chose the Discover Europe tour, in which they too used Amare. The bird took them to cities like Brussels, Amsterdam, Paris, Berlin, Barcelona, Ibiza, and Budapest before finishing their tour at Tomorrowland itself!

CULINARY

HEIGHTS Just as on the festival itself, the Tomorrowland partyflights reconciled music and food, DJs and chefs. Tim Boury, awared ‘Most talented chef of Flanders’ by leading culinary guide Gault&Millau, put his head in the clouds with the People of Tomorrow. On Thursday the chef boarded the Amare to share his culinary skills as a part of Visit Flanders’ Kitchen Rebels. He prefers cooking for an enthusiastic crowd like this over serving his usual high-brow guests. “These people are more like me,” Tim explains. “I’m also an avid festivalgoer; relaxed and down to earth.” That’s why we weren’t surprised to find out that after the flight, Tim went straight on to the festival, for his third consecutive year. “I won’t be cooking at Tomorrowland, just partying with my friends, enjoying the music and the atmosphere!” For Tim it was the first time cooking on an plane. “Although it’s quite outside my comfort zone, I prepared the food well and I managed to serve a great meal for every single person on the plane. It’s no coincidence that music and food work together so well; people relax around a meal as well as at a concert. It’s a chance to amicorum spectaculum meet new people, have new experiences and cross borders. A second element of my mission was to introduce these travellers to our Flemish cuisine.” And according to the satisfied faces and the empty plates, we can only conclude that Tim succeeded!

DROP YOUR DRAWERS HERE! The best memories end with dirty clothes. With all the exciting moments you’re about to experience this weekend, it’s a certainty that at some point you’ll want to wash. To wash yourself, that’s something you have to do on your own, but if you want some fresh T-shirts, head on over to the Miele Laundry Garden on DreamVille. Just drop off those funky-smelling fashion items and collect a fresh load whenever you please. At the Laundry Garden we find Danish (26), who has been backpacking throughout Europe and was in dire need of crisp clothes. “I’m backpacking by myself, hopping around Europe. I figured that while I’m here for Tomorrowland, I might as well get to know the people and see more of the different cultures.” Meeting new people goes a lot more smoothly with fresh-looking apparel, hence Danish is the first of many folks handing in their dirty laundry today. Don yourself in delicious-smelling gear – it’s one less thing to worry about, ‘cause honestly, who has time to worry at Tomorrowland?

MISSING:

CERAMIC LOVEBIRDS

With the expansion of Tomorrowland over the past years, a new species has joined the green fields of Boom. Cute little Art for Thought (AfT) statuettes are now living on this beautiful terrain and are a great, colourful addition to Tomorrowland. Unfortunately, and for unknown reasons, they’ve run away! All we have left is this silhouette... Can you find the corresponding statuette on this newspaper’s pages or on the festival site itself? Be creative, take a selfie and send it to today@tomorrowland.com. We’ll announce todays winner in tomorrow’s paper.

LOVE IS A GAMBLE... JACKPOT!

THE NO. 1 PARTY ISLAND

Yesterday’s winner: Victor Videgren & Madeleine Frosth Hertzberg

“The things I’ve seen during my love gambling years... Men with more eyeliner than me, men with more boobs than me, not to mention the dude who loved his car more than me... But look at us now. I wish I had spent every single moment of my life with him.”

LEAF by Aperol Spritz has a unique new twist this year. Here, you will experience an intricately composed imaginary trip to Ibiza. Enjoy some crispy beats at the waterside with an aperitif by your side, dance a bit while your friends relax, or recharge your batteries in the lounge areas designed to do so.

This Ibiza vibe is not the only thing LEAF brings to Tomorrowland, though. Take a minute and customize your own cap, sunglasses, or even your own clothes with summer-scented imprints, enriching quotes or any other design your brain can think of today. Whatever you would like to wear, the artists of Studio Bam Bam from Gent will help you make your dreams come true with a smile on their faces. While waiting for that customised item, order yourself an ice-cold Aperol amicorum Spritz pitcher spectaculum (which holds four servings!) and they’ll throw in a bowl of free bites as a salty twist to your refreshing drink, too. You can find out which artists are going to support your drinks with relaxing beats in the line-up (page 28). See you on the waterside!

THE ARRIVAL OF THE BRAVE

DREAMVILLE SETS UP CAMP The ground rumbles. Birds take to the air. Faraway, on the horizon, a crowd appears. It’s a veritable legion of People of Tomorrow, running towards the Rainbow behind which they will find the Magnificent Greens they’ve been longing for so desperately. Jessy (22) met Kevin (24) via Tinder in Switzerland. She brought her brother Tiago (18) with her from Portugal. Now they’re establishing their first Tomorrowland experience by planting a double flag in front of their camp. “From Switzerland we bring organisation, from Portugal our inner fire!”

START YOUR DAY STRONG A healthy mind in a healthy body begins with a breakfast of champions. Hop on by at the Alpro restaurant on DreamVille to kick off a day full of fun the right way. Their dedicated crew of Alpronistas serve up the most delicious-looking breakfast bowls, pancakes, smoothies and hot drinks. Made from the best plant-based ingredients, this is all you need to rise and shine in the early morning, prepared to party.

A man is holding up an umbrella even though there’s no rain or sun in sight. Shauli (24) explains: “We’re with a group of over 40 amicorum spectaculum people from Israel, so this is the only way we can stay together as a group. Whenever you want to find us, look for this umbrella!”

One of the Alpronistas is Merijn Gijsbers. He’s in charge of your morning cup of black gold, and he’s more than amazing at making coffee. Merijn’s actually the Dutch Barista Champion of 2017, and travels the globe to spread the gospel of that delicious black brew. In November he’ll be heading to the World Barista Championship in Korea. "The thing that fascinates me about the art of coffee making, is that there are so many different things that make a great cup. Did you know there’s about 800 uniquely different flavours? It’s truly an art form. There are so, so many different things to take in consideration brewing coffee, like the way your roast the beans, the way you pour the water into the coffee, getting the amounts of ingredients just right.” This weekend Merijn is serving his best cups using ingredients like Alpro coconut milk. Come on by and discover the lifestyle of plant-produced deliciousness for yourself!

“Two of us are engineers!” An enthusiastic group of German friends, Dustin (22), Niklas (23), Kevin (23), and Hendrik (23), have created what they call a beer slide. They show off the system with which they impressively down half a litre of beer in less than a second. “This is to get warmed up for DreamVille!”

The most original tent on Dreamville is probably this one. Flemish men Yannick (41) and Nicky (39) won the “Tettentent,” meaning “tittytent,” through a contest 20 years amicorum spectaculum ago. “This was a limited edition of only 50 pieces, I’m sure there are no more left apart from this one!”

We find John (25) and Michele (24) from Genk holding their dog Samson. “This is his 27th festival! I once found him deserted and abandoned. I decided to “dognap” him. Now we have to feed him burgers and beers, but he is a loyal party partner. Today is his first time at Tomorrowland”

A couple of guys are all set up at their camp and are absorbed in a game of beer pong. Misha (28) from Zogenweiler tellsbelgium us: “We brought 114 litres of beer along with us, so we had to start already. The message behind the drawing on the table? We love women!”

Displaying her new make-up, we find Anouck (22) from Luxembourg. “After walking around all day long, I just wanted to be refreshed. Back home I use a lot of make-up, so when I finished pitching my tent I immediately went out in search of some glitter!”

FEATHERS AND

GLITTERS Tomorrowland is just the festival to cross borders, try a new look and become the person you’ve always dreamt of being. The Angels of Beauty of Wella and M.A.C. are standing by on DreamVille to help you with that! Especially for Tomorrowland, there’s the possibility to let these angels style your hair or fix your make-up. At M.A.C. there are 6 looks to choose from, with glitters being especially popular,” Michel Shakiba, one of the make-up artists, tells us. At Wella the barbers will pimp your hair with braids, flowers and feathers. This is the fourth year on Tomorrowland for Ruth Haldermans, a real Boom citizen and supervisor of the hair stylists. Her goal? Make sure you try a new look during the festival!

Erwin (47) from Peer got his hair and his beard feathered and braided. “My hair is made for this. I also work some of the days as front-stage security. The crowd loves it when the staff themselves are also dressed in Tomorrowland style!”

A PLACE OF MELLOW VIBES Dariusz and Arkadivsz just arrived after a grueling 15 hours on the road. That’s 1300 kilometres, a trip all the way from Poland. They’re hanging out with Mellissa, who they met in line to enter DreamVille. They’re beyond excited to be here. “I quit my job to get here,” Dariusz says. “My boss didn’t want me to go, but a once-in-a-lifetime experience like this, I’m not skipping out on that. I’m not worried about it though, I’ll find something else when I get back.”

While the Amicorum Spectaculum is erupting all around you, you might feel a bit overwhelmed at times. With so many great artists, beautiful people, and amazing experiences washing over you, it’s understandable you might need a rest every now and then. At DreamVille, the Chillout area is where sour feet come to take a break. Lounge in the hammocks, throw yourself down on the big puffy purple bags, enjoy a game of tennis and maybe even grab a bite to eat. The Chillout area is where the weary soul recharges for adventures to come.

The Chillout has something for everybody, including a healthy breakfast! Friday: 08h00 - 16h00 and 00h00 - 03h00 Saturday: 08h00 - 16h00 and 00h00 - 03h00 Sunday: 08h00 - 16h00 and 23h00 - 02h00 Breakfast is served between 08h00 and 11h00.

MEET THE FRATELLINO’S!

THE BUTCHER’S BEAST

At the Chillout area there’s a cute little foodtruck run by Kathleen and Leo de Prince. They serve home-made pasta prepared according to a secret recipe only Kathleen knows. Mom’s working her magic in the kitchen, dad welcomes the hungry guests, son Joost and daughter Bieke help out the folks wherever they’re needed. The Fratellino food truck really is a hobby gone wild. Father Leo: “We’ve always had a love for Italy, as a family. When I was traveling in Genève a coupe of years ago, I spotted this truck and we just had to get it. Kathleen went to school to be a chef and loves to share her Italian bites with whoever wants a taste. So we put one and one together and now we’re here. We normally do private parties, and when we need an extra hand we can call upon cousins and family friends to help out.” Fratellino isn’t just a name, it’s what Bieke has always called Joost. “It means ‘little brother’. ‘Cause no matter how big he gets, he’ll still be my little brother to me.” The family business has taken off the last few years. The time and effort the amicorum spectaculum family puts into the truck, together with mom’s kitchen magic, dad’s smile, and the kids helping out, makes for one amazing little Italian pasta place.

In the back of the Chillout area you’ll find some of the finest slices of meat in the entire realm of Tomorrowland, provided by Belgium’s renowned butcher shop De Laet & Van Haver. “The meat’s handpicked straight out of the slaughterhouse” says Marcus Verret, the man in control of grilling your personal piece of heaven. He uses what is called an ‘ofyr’ style barbecue. Instead of laying right on top on a grill, the food’s prepared on a sizzling solid plate with a fire in the middle. “This way we can use butter and other kinds of fats to prepare the meal, like with a Japanese teppanyaki. With a traditional grill the juices seep away through the roster. With this system, you retain the smokey taste of a traditional barbecue, because the smoke still goes over the meat. Smokey yet juicy, it’s the best of both worlds really.” Some of the meat’s ripened for 8 weeks or more, in a cabinet where the crew controls the temperature and moisture completely. The lads and ladies at The Butcher’s Beast sure take their craft seriously, and you can taste the love in every bite. Get yourself a beer, walk on by and let Marcus and companions explain the magic behind the meat before you sink your teeth into it!

13

The unlikely friendship between these tree girls started a while ago on the other side of the world, where Sophie and Lisa met during a backpacking trip through New Zealand. “We kept in touch ever since. We’ve even visited each other in Zürich and Stockholm. During one of those tripswe were looking for a new adventure to go on, so now we’re here. ‘Let’s just go’ we said almost simultaneously when looking at the tickets. Laura is Lisa’s sister, and so she tagged along!” Get your stretching in with the Chillout yoga classes, under the expert guidance of yoga expert Goedele Leyssen. Friday: 10h30 - 11h45 and 12h00 - 13h15 Saturday: 10h30 - 11h45 and 12h00 - 13h15 On Sunday the yoga class is joined by soundhealer Andy VanBeveren, who’ll untangle all that’s belgium wrapped up inside you with the power of sound. SHARE THE LOVE Although you’ll be totally absorbed by the madness of Tomorrowland today, wouldn’t it be nice to think of your loved ones back home for a moment? Since they’re not as fortunate as you, seeing it in real life, the least you can do is share the beauty of the Amicorum Spectaculum with them. And is there a better way to do this than by sending a good old postcard? The best part of this story... Hallmark’s Postcard Service has it all fixed up for you, free of charge and centrally located on the festival area. Walking towards the ‘One World’ Bridge from the Harbour House you’ll find a tiny post office. Over there, the post(wo)men will be delighted to help you send a card towards your loved ones. You can use one of their designs or make one yourself with your own photos! Laura (18) and her friends from Luxembourg sent a postcard to Maggie. “She is a total postcard addict, and since she can’t be here, I can send a little piece of Tomorrowland back home to her!”

TIME TO SHINE!

BE INFORMED & STAY CONNECTED We live in a digital world where technology guides us through life like our mothers would have done back in the days. To make sure you don’t miss out on any important information, we highly recommend downloading the Tomorrowland App. Take your time during breakfast to look at the line-up, personalize your schedule, and study the map that will guide you from Armin to Martin ASAP. The Tomorrowland App is crucial to make sure you make the most of every minute spent on Tomorrowland.

And while you’re at it: don’t forget to check out the People of Tomorrow App. This separate social app is designed to connect or reconnect with your amicorum spectaculum newly found soulmates from all around the globe. Open your heart and embrace the People of Tomorrow: download the app in the Google Play Store or App Store.

THE PATCHERS OF PHONES In front of the Rainbow, at the border between Tomorrowland and DreamVille, a small building called ‘Phone Repair’ is located. Here we find a team of troubleshooters, ready to help whenever something’s wrong with our beloved touchscreen devices: it’s the home of the ‘Ifixers’. One of these heroes is Jelle (26) from Leuven. “People come here with all kinds of problems. Most of the foreigners want to have a Belgian SIM card. Also, we’ve seen a lot of water damage, which we can fortunately repair.” You can visit the store until around 21:00 every day to have the Ifixers patch up your phone!

You’ve probably noticed: today is not going to break any temperature records. Luckily, TML by Tomorrowland has got your back, no matter the weather. Stop by one of the Official TML by Tomorrowland Boutiques for a T-shirt, an airy tanktop to dance in, or a cozy sweater to warm you up; there’s a wide selection available, all designed for looks as well as comfort. At the Markets scattered across the festival grounds, you will find Official TML by Tomorrowland caps that will shield you against sun as well as rain when you explore the Holy Grounds today. FINDING YOUR SPIRIT ANIMAL

THE GATHERING When the tents are pitched and the beer is cold, DreamVille’s denizens gather in herds. Where do they gather? At the Gathering, of course! This is the one and only stage which is already blasting away before the Holy Grounds of the festival itself are opened. And wow, people are as happy as a clam to be here. As the sun starts to break through the clouds, we see smiles and sunglasses on the faces of the dancers on the wooden floor. While Kid Noize pumps out beat after beat from behind his monkey mask, the People of Tomorrow start dancing wildly. Their inner animals are revealed: dancers begin doing bunny hops, waving their arms around like monkeys. Ravers with unicorn backpacks and a confused guy in a T-Rex suit walk by. We burst through the euphoric crowd in search of the spirit animals of these madmen, materialised in the form of blow-up beasts.

A FLAG FOR TOMORROW amicorum spectaculum

At the TML by Tomorrowland Boutiques, you can obviously buy the Official TML by Tomorrowland fashion items and accessories – but they also offer the Official Tomorrowland flags. With these, you can wrap yourself in Love, Peace and Unity. For every flag, €5.00 is donated to the Love Tomorrow Foundation, Tomorrowland’s very own charity foundation. They are building the first ‘Love Tomorrow Music & Arts School’ in Sekha, in the heart of thebelgium Nepalese mountains. Buy a flag, let it float in the winds, wrap it around your shoulders and take it home proudly, all in the knowledge that you’ve contributed to a good cause!

ORCA Stephan (32) from Wallonia is guarding his giant plastic killer whale while friends and random passers-by dance around it, worshipping the blackand-white orca. “If Tomorrowland is a sea, this is my ship,” he tells us enthusiastically. Or something along those lines, anyways, it’s not really intelligible. “My friends carry me high above the crowd. This whale has been everywhere, man. Look!” Stephan shows us some scribbling on the belly of the beast; “Tomorrowland 2015,” it reads. “Just watch the Martin Solveig live video, you’re bound to see this legendary fish jump out of the crowd!”

FLAMINGO “Why a flamingo!?” Toby (35) and Marty (35) look each other in the eyes for a moment, in which we see a slight panic and a good dose of confusion. We found these Swedishmen by following a pink flamingo, towering high above the raving crowd. Toby hesitantly mumbles, “Because we’re also happy and pretty? No, wait, because we like chicks with long legs!” “Maybe it’s because it stands for our similarity and equality,” Marty philosophically adds. “We’re all pink on the inside, right?” One of their girlfriends interrupts and tells us privately, “Actually, they need it when we get it on at night. The flamingo has already shared our tent at least 10 times!”

SHARK “I’m a shark!” Harri Fernandez from Birmingham smiles while he holds up his big blue blow-up beast next to him. “You know, I’m also a predator. Nothing bothers me, I don’t care about what others think, just like a shark!” Harri bought this shark especially and solely for Tomorrowland. “He’s called Jaws. And he’s never going to die. And afterwards I’ll take him to other festivals. But he will return to Tomorrowland every single year. Like a souvenir, or something.” One of his friends tells us a different story: “Jesus told him to bring a shark to the festivals, in one of his dreams. That’s why there’s amicorum spectaculum no rain now!”

TASTES OF THE WORLD CROSSING CULINARY BORDERS One of the very nicest things about life is the way we must regularly stop whatever it is we are doing and devote our attention to eating. Good food is key to staying in shape for a long weekend at Tomorrowland. And you’ll not be left wanting in this regard! Tomorrowland is home to plenty of good food, presented by the best kitchens Belgium and the rest of the world have to offer. Food is our common ground, a universal experience. Find yourself a nice date, reserve a table at one of the restaurants and allow your stomach to be filled with pure love.

It is nothing new that Tomorrowland and DreamVille offer countless options to please your stomach with food from all over the world. But this year, Tomorrowland is presenting a brand-new concept ready to blow the People of Tomorrow’s minds: Tastes of the World. A dinner here consists of three courses presented by Belgium’s most talented chefs, Tastes of the World contest-winners, and Belgium’s best chocolatier, served with several side dishes and delicious drinks.

amicorum spectaculum

In collaboration with Callebaut and Flanders Kitchen Rebels, Tomorrowland presents food from all over the globe at the Tastes of the World restaraunt. The three Belgian chefs have all been selected as ambassadors of Visit Flanders’ ‘Jong Keukengeweld’ (‘Young Kitchen Uproar’) and are responsible for spreading the Belgian kitchen outside of the country’s own borders. These ambassadors take care of the starters and all dishes are inspired

on their culinary background. Dinner is more than just a starter, though, and the Tastes of the World contest was set up to find six unique main courses to serve during both weekends. To finish the menu with the best dessert possible, Callebaut’s chocolate experts prepare the best Belgian chocolate-based desserts drawing from more than 100 years of experience in making Belgium’s finest chocolate. To provide some more background for this colourful menu, Tomorrowland Today asked the Belgian chefs what their food should represent. On Friday the 28th of July, ‘De Vijf Seizoenen’ chef Laurence Haegeman kicks off this special experience with her personal favourites. “It’s a very new and unique experience for me, I have never done anything like this!”

Laurence is one of the chefs spreading the Belgian kitchen around the globe for Visit Flanders. “I’m preparing three starters – or ‘sharing dishes’, as we like to call them – for the Tastes of the World menu. These starters are inspired on the Belgian kitchen. For me it’s important that we use local products, products produced by Belgian farmers. Real regional ingredients that together create a pure, local, and smooth experience with a lot of vegetables.” Floris Pankoucke, owner of restaurant ‘Floris’ in Brugge, will cook his best starters for you on the 29th of July. “I’m really looking forward to Saturday. Tomorrowland will be an overwhelming experience, just like it is for the visitors.” Floris takes using regional products one step further: “For my dishes I always try to use ingredients produced in the region of my restaurant. For the first ‘sharing dish’ I’m using mussels from Oostende and a locally brewed beer, haddock from the North Sea is used for the second dish, and the last one is made of a fresher version of tartar with crispy potatoes.” Frederik Deceuninck – chef at Michelin-starred ‘Sel Gris’ – has the honour of closing out this culinary journey on Sunday the 30th of July. “Our restaurant is located in Duinbergen, at the Belgian coast. Sunday’s dishes will include three different variations of potato. The first option is made of mussels with a beer dressing and puffed potato, inspired on the restaurant’s location. The second dish is made of potato wedges with Holstein beef and pickles, and last but not least, there’s a crispy potato krupuk with a special cheese, some pickles and mustard seeds.”

International and local cuisines combined by three thoroughly passionate chefs, three Taste of The World contest winners, and chocolatier Callebaut.

EXPERIENCE THE TASTES OF THE WORLD! “Make each day your masterpiece” is the advice given by one of the young chefs of the Tastes of the World Restaurant. That, and “you’re never too young to learn.” Located at the base of the One World Bridge and close to the Harbour House, the Restaurant will change the life of your taste buds forever. Sound good? You have a chance of receiving a free dinner at the Tastes of the World restaurant today! All you have to do is e-mail a picture of you and your breakfast to today@tomorrowland.com and you might just get that Tastes of The World voucher. It will give you access to the Tastes of the World Restaurant this weekend – you will receive a welcome drink, some appetizers and a full Tastes of the World meal!

TOMORROW’S INK We often hear Tomorrowland leaves traces on your soul that can’t be erased. But you wouldn’t want to erase them anyway, would you? How about taking that feeling to the next level? The festival’s very own tattoo shop is open for business and more than ready to put its stamp on pretty much anything. Souvenirs are nice, but a tattoo will remind you of this weekend for the rest of your life.

Your love for Tomorrowland is massive. Every year People of Tomorrow from every corner of the globe get the Tomorrowland icon inked on their bodies in a multitude of ways. There’s no way of expressing the festival’s gratitude towards your desire to stay connected with it so permanently – so

the least Tomorrowland could do was open a tattoo shop on-site. This year the tattoo parlour works on two levels: getting the tattoo and preserving it. They have six professional artists that all use their own unique designs. One of the artists is Peggy Verbist. “I’ve made a series of Tomorrowland-themed designs, among which is a mandala containing the festival’s logo. And our schedule is pretty much booked, so we’ll have our hands full this weekend!” Next to the six artists, there’s the Tattoo Care team lead by Carl & Johan: “Tattoos are modern art, a memory printed on your body that should last forever. That’s why you should take extra good care of it.” If you’re already a proud tattoo owner you should pay a visit to Carl & Johan’s apothecary full of creams and crèmes. They are more than willing to help you preserve your most precious memories, expressions and beliefs – right there on your skin.

PERSONALIZE YOUR PHONE

Thanks to TML by Tomorrowland, Tomorrowland’s own fashion label, you have the chance to personalize your very own, one-of-a-kind Tomorrowland smartphone case. Simply choose one of four unique Tomorrowland designs and add your personal message or quote to make it yours. Go and see for yourself at the Official TML by Tomorrowland Boutique by the exit towards DreamVille. You’ll buy yourself a memento of this weekend that you can carry with you day and night!

YOU ARE AMARE! Who doesn’t want to know what it feels like to fly through the sky? What it’s like to feel the vibrations of Amare’s roar beating on your chest? Pay a visit to ‘The Loop’, the enormous Ferris wheel presented by Brussels Airlines, and you’ll know soon enough. Before taking a ride on the wheel itself, you will be welcomed by ‘360° Amare’. Within this 360° video installation, you’ll get a chance to see the world – or actually, the sky – through the eyes of Amare, the Tomorrowland airplane.

amicorum spectaculum

If you really want to know what soaring high in the sky is like, The Loop itself will help you up there within just a few minutes. At no less than 58 metres above the ground, you will get to see Tomorrowland from a totally different perspective. The wheel counts 40 gondolas, two of which have facilities for belgium disabled access, so there is a spot on the wheel for everyone. Last, but certainly not least, 360° Amare and The Loop can be visited free of charge by everyone on the festival. Make sure you see Tomorrowland from all possible angles and let the Belgian clouds hug you through this breath-taking experience!

LOVE TOMORROW To respect the Holy Grounds, Love Tomorrow has come up with a number of initiatives that you, the People of Tomorrow, can be a part of. Be kind to Mother Nature and join the Recycle Club! The’ve set up their ‘recycle headquarters’ together with partners Jupiler, Lipton Ice Tea, Spa, and Coca Cola. Together with the People of Tomorrow, they want to get as many waste materials sorted as possible, so that everything can be recycled. With the Recycle Club, recycling becomes fun and easy. On Thursday, the Recycle Team distributed Recycle Kits to all of DreamVille’s happy campers, and you can get one at the Recycle Clubhouse if you haven’t received one. These kits contain everything you need to sort and get your waste recycled. Recycle Points can be found all over DreamVille, and the Recycle Team will help you with any questions you may have about recycling. Since you’re now out and about anyway, you should definitely check out the Recycle Clubhouse between the Marketplace and the red Magnificent Greens district. Your recycling efforts will be rewarded with 3D-printed amulets there, and you stand a chance of receiving wonderful prizes.

How to sort at DreamVille?

How to sort at the festival site?

PMD: Plastic bottles, Metal cans, Drink cartons. No cups or other plastics. Paper & cardboard: all paper & cardboard except cups. General waste: everything else.

PMD: the same as at DreamVille. Empty cups only: all plastic cups you got for cold drink. No cups for hot drinks. Compost: all food trays, cutlery, napkins and food waste can go in here; only at the food corners. General waste: everything else.

Did you know that…. Recycling a six-pack of beercans saves enough energy to drive a car for 8km (5 miles)?

CAMP 2 CAMP

Camp 2 Camp is an initiative created by Love Tomorrow and Reuse-shop Ecoso. Great amounts of camping gear are left behind at festivals every year, and it’s time to stop that practice. The principal message to the People of Tomorrow is to take home the gear that you brought to DreamVille. However, if you are unable to do so, Camp 2 Camp is a way to give left-behind gear a new destination, a first step towards closing the loop. Not only will the gear be cleaned, repaired and used amicorum spectaculum again; Ecoso’s shops will also create social employment in the process. To find out more, keep your eye out for tomorrow’s TML Today!

FOCUS ON THE MUSIC

PUSSY LOUNGE

SEXY BY NATURE

A STATE OF TRANCE

WIND STAGE

GARDEN OF MADNESS

FREEDOM BY BUDWEISER

What started out as a personal project by hard dance legends Darkraver and Paul Elstak came to be one of the most creative, crazy, and overwhelming concepts in the entire electronic scene. Pussy Lounge’s initiators didn’t like the fact that DJs just wanted to play harder and faster and wanted to do something different, mainly ‘for the girls’. Their idea was to take it down a notch and create a concept that mixes all kinds of styles into one big madhouse. Well, we invite you to the Wind Stage today to see for yourself what the result of this experiment is… Prepare to be blasted away by the most unexpected mix of melodious, hard-hitting and plain crazy sounds.

Sunnery James and Ryan Marciano are known for playing the freshest melodious and uplifting house tunes while interacting with the crowd to the level of perfection. This trademark has made them famous all over the globe and since their fans just can’t get enough, they started a concept called Sexy by Nature. The combination of their vibe and the special locations they choose for their events makes every edition an intimate and sensuous experience. If you want to see what happens when you add the Amicorum’s magic to Sunnery & Ryan’s sexy nature, make sure to pay a visit to the Garden of Madness!

We would be surprised if you’ve never heard of the concept ‘A State of Trance’. Trance music has had its ups and downs, but these developments never really affected ASOT. Their pure and deep representation of trance music warms the hearts of trancelovers worldwide and they will be joining us today to convince you as well. Be amazed by legends like MaRLo, Armin van Buuren, Markus Schulz and Vini Vici as they pump tight, hypnotic basslines and soaring, intricate melodies through the soundsystem. Whoever thinks trance has lost its relevance in nowadays’ electronic music scene: proof of the opposite is to be found at the Freedom stage.

SAM FELDT FOCUS ON MAGICAL FRIDAY SPINNIN’ SESSIONS | 20h30 - 21h30 When father Feldt decided to indulge his 11-year-old son Sam’s wish to start a drivein DJ show all those years ago, he couldn’t have foreseen it would be the start of a musical phenomenon. Sam has taken the world by storm with his uplifting and melodic interpretation of house music. He has some amazing projects coming up and is building a live-act of enormous proportions, even as he travels around the globe non-stop to spread the good vibes. We caught up with him on the night before his grand performance at the Spinnin’ Sessions stage at the House of Books this weekend. A performance that’s bound to become legendary, ‘cause Sam is introducing his live band! At the moment of this interview, Sam is in Ibiza. He’s playing at Ushuaïa, bringing the good vibes before Martin Garrix takes the stage. After that, it’s back to Tomorrowland where he’s slated to take the Spinnin’ Sessions hosting at the House of Books by storm. A tropical storm, to be exact. As one of the frontrunners in what is often called ‘tropical house’, how does he stay on top as the genre becomes more popular every day? “I’m always searching for something to take my music to the next level. Nowadays the sound’s so popular that sometimes it seems as though there are too many of the same-sounding tracks being released. So I’ve been thinking a lot about how to keep my tunes amicorum spectaculum fresh. What do I have to add in order to differentiate from all the music being released at the moment?” Sam has found his way in adding live aspects to his

act. Currently he’s working closely together with a saxophone player and a trumpet player, both live on stage. They add an element of improvisation to his sets that makes the overall experience much more surprising. But this is just the beginning. “In the upcoming year I’m planning on expanding the band with a lot more musical friends. Someone playing the guitar, somebody on the piano and all the while I’m in the back playing the records. The clash of classically schooled musicians and me, who has never really had any musical education at all, inspires me tremendously. It’s my way to keep

Getting personal with the virtuoso of good vibes people in awe when they come to see me. And that’s a quest that’ll never stop.” In a world where anybody can become a producer, only the great dare to take steps outside their comfort zone and discover musical roads that haven’t been taken before. Sam’s dedication to the people that come to dance to his tunes goes far. A while ago he launched Fangage, an online platform for artists who are tired of the usual social media channels and their quirks. “I felt that it was way too hard to actually get to know my fanbase. So together with two friends we thought of Fangage as a way around the rules and limits of the mainstream channels. It’s about personal contact. Do I want to keep putting money into a website that doesn’t guarantee my

fans get the entire Sam Feldt experience as I want to offer it to them, or do we go our separate ways? Take Heartfeldt.me, for example, my own Fangage site. People join the community and tell me what they’d like to see, like to hear, where they’re from and what they hope I’ll give them. Instead of all this information being put into the database of a faceless social media site, it’s given to the artist. Now I don’t have to hope for the right info to reach the right person anymore, now I can make sure you’ll see what you want to see of Sam Feldt without interference from a third party. And the more people engage with me and the other guys and girls in the community, the more content they get.” With Heartfeldt, Sam is also able to connect directly with his fans. He gives them the opportunity to submit their own tunes, which he listens to in hopes of finding fresh talent to work with. The way he thinks of it, the fans are the most important band members of Sam Feldt. Sam has come a long way from playing records at high school parties with his dad. “My dad was glad I seemed to have found something to put my time and effort into. I was 10, maybe 11 years old. There wasn’t much mixing involved back then, we just put on one track after the other. After a while I started to figure out how to mix a little. Yeah, I owe a huge part of my beginnings to my dad. It might’ve been my idea, but he gave me the support I needed to get started. He actually came along to an event in Croatia recently. My mom will be there at belgium Tomorrowland as well. Whenever I play a special event I try to take them or some close friends along.”

MAGICAL FRIDAY

The clock is running. Make the most of today. Time waits for no man. Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is a mystery. Today is a gift. That's why it is called the present.

The clock is running. Make the most of today. Time waits for no man. Today is a gift. That's why it is called the present.

the martinez brothers Elrow – The Organ of Harmony | 21h30 – 23h00

Today Elrow’s turning the Organ of Harmony upside down and inside out with The Martinez Brothers. Steve and Christian grew up in New York. Their musical education came from their dad, who had them listen to all sorts of early disco and house music. It’s a bit difficult to pinpoint what they play exactly, because of the immense catalogue of tracks engraved in their minds. Christian and Steve are bringing back the old glory days of legendary clubs such as Paradise Garage New York, but revamping it to suit modern technology and needs. Might sound a bit complex, but all you really need to know that if the Organ of Harmony had a roof, it would have been gone after The Martinez Brothers are finished tonight.

dvs1

Kozzmozz – Core | 19h00 – 20h30 Kozzmozz is bringing one of America’s finest to the Core today. DVS1, a.k.a. Zak, has been around since the very beginning. Starting out throwing illegal raves around the area of his hometown of Minneapolis, he has seen every side of the house scene in all its glory and misery. The kid that used to sneak into abandoned buildings with a sound system on wheels, out for a good night with friends, has become a muchrespected veteran globally, presiding over prestigious venues like the Berghain/Panorama Bar. Yet he still returns to Minneapolis every once in a while to occupy a warehouse with his much talked-about Hush parties, of which the exact location goes around per text, not per Facebook invite. DVS1 might be a veteran of house music, but the rebel within has never disappeared. He’s a man of the people, educating the crowds with a perfectly balanced repertoire of house, techno, old tunes and new tracks, funk, or whatever the moment requires. And while he’s revered as a legend by many, he’s one of the most down-to earth guys you’ll ever have the pleasure of meeting. He often mingles with the crowd when he’s not playing, and always has a smile and a good word for anyone amicorum spectaculum approaching him. Come dance with Zak at Kozzmozz today!

jauz

tchami

Hold on to your panties, onesies and other attire, today is going off the deep end with Jauz at the Netsky & Friends stage. The Los Angeles-based producer has risen to stardom almost overnight since the release of ‘Feel the Volume’ in 2014. And while ushering in a whole new era of genre-defying wubs and dubs, Sam Vogel has not only stolen our ears but our hearts as well, staying as downto-earth as they come. Come join the Sharksquad today under the dragon’s watchful eye at the Rose Garden. What to expect? Who knows! In the words of Jauz, “music has no boundaries, after all.”

Music is our religion, and tonight the People of Tomorrow come together to dance to the hymns provided by Tchami. His French House Holiness tours the world year-round spreading the gospel of good music, and will conduct his musical mass under the immense Mainstage tonight. His tunes are praised because they are both deep, great to dance to and devilishly addictive. He’s stood on stage with the likes of Skrillex, Jack U, and DJ Snake, but he’ll rock Tomorrowland solo this evening. belgium So gather ‘round, pilgrims of sound, and experience house heaven with Tchami!

The clock is running. Make the most of today. Time waits for no man. Today is a gift. That's why it is called the present.

It’s The Retronettes here! We’re hosting the Harbour House with Radio Ultra Modern, accompanied by a whole bunch of mighty colourful DJs, artists, dancers and other magic-makers. We’ve been here for quite some years now, and over time we saw a small yet magical circus-like tent stage grow out to the infamous safe haven it is today. A little festival inside the festival, a home for all things involving good, friendly, extraordinary and exuberant fun in its most florid lifeforms. You can find us on the other side of the lake across from the Rose Garden stage.

bass-d

Daddy’s back, and he’s bringing the filth to Dim Mak at The Arch today! Borgore is renowned, infamous and legendary for his mix of powerful performances and an unapologetic straightforward character. Hold on to your bras, panties and shirts, as things are bound to get wild with the grandmaster of gorestep. Shaking your ass is obligatory as you dance to the enfant terrible of today’s bass scene. Don’t expect any remorse or a moment of respite from the Israeli maestro. It’s ‘go hard or go home’. If you’re happy and you know it, what do you clap? That’s right, those dancing butt-cheeks!

At the Wind Stage, Pussy Lounge is turning up the heat with Bass-D today. But the beautiful women and crazy deco Pussy Lounge is known for aside, Bass-D behind the decks is a must-see for those who love hardcore. One of the very founders of the hardcore scene, Eugenio is also famous for being a true master of the art of turntablism. There’s hardly any artist in the current scene who has such an excellent eye for the mood of the crowd and the ability to steer that mood without apparent effort. It is not an understatement that Bass-D is a Grand Wizard of the magic of mixing. Get enchanted tonight at the Wind Stage!
