Incredible SATURDAY
P E O P L E O F T O M O R ROW,
YOURS ARE THE WISEST WORDS!
For those with their eye on Tomorrow, a goodbye is never truly a goodbye; for everything that happens is remembered, and may be relived in future times. And that, friends, is exactly what took place yesterday, amidst a spectacle of smoke and sounds, when the Book of Wisdom revealed itself to the People of Tomorrow once more. It was a warm and loving reunion, a renewed encounter with a past populated by familiar faces and the dearest of friends. Selected tales of the Tomorrowland saga resounded across the Mainstage valley, introducing
some of you to those hallowed histories for the first time, even as others revelled in recognition. Now that the Book is opened, however, what you knew already no longer matters. All that matters now is that you open the vaults of your mind to all you see before you, and transform the words of the Book into reality. For a word is not just a word, a book is not just a book, and the past is always, already, the future: what has been will be again, as soon as you decide to make it so. Today, you will make Tomorrow’s stories your own.

A WHIFF OF YESTERYEAR
ight, left, another left, up the ladder to the balcony, a squeeze between the tightly packed shelves… I carefully work my way through the library, following an appealing smell. Between the endless stacks of books, I come upon a tome overgrown with leaves. Could this be it? I reach out, take the book from its shelf, and to my surprise, it responds immediately. It folds itself open and I feel something funny crawling across my hand – roots,
with which it is holding me as much as I am holding it. There’s no going back now, and so I start leafing through the old, but lively pages. There are diagrams, intricate instructions; here, drawings of leaves, herbs and roots, then on the next page, a contraption with which to weigh them, and a cauldron. I realise that this book is a recipe, a manual for the manufacture of a very specific potion. On the center pages, I finally find it: The Elixir of Life. Leafing on, I learn the details of its story: it was made to distill the very essence of life into a single potion. It was drawn from the green of the trees, from the flight of the birds, the majesty of the lions, the song of the whales… All of it, each of Earth’s millions of creatures, lent
something to the Elixir, which was brewed in a ceremony attended by hundreds of thousands of people. And what a celebration it was! With singing, dancing, flag-waving, friendship-making and frolicking, these visionaries lent their own vital energy to the Elixir. When all was said and done, every living thing on Earth was united in that single, aromatic mixture. Satisfied that I have learnt its lesson, the book loosens its hold on me. Careful not to hurt it, I replace it on the shelf. Still, I feel a residual tingle, and I wonder… will the Elixir be with me for the rest of my days?

DREAMVILLE MORNING RITUALS AT
A prayer couched in the words of the soul is far more powerful than any ritual. Yet as the People of Tomorrow slowly started their first morning at DreamVille, realizing that all their prayers had been answered, rituals could be seen around the campsite all the same. Did your inner voice lead you straight to that amazing-looking bakery on the Marketplace? Was it the hairdresser that crossed your mind first? Did you go for a morning run or, having had a snuggly sleepover, a leisurely quest to find your tent? At any rate, DreamVille was very sunny, and all smiles and swimming pools.
Jordi (30) from Spain needs a moment of freshness. “I just need a quick wake-up splash before I’m going to the grocery store,” he smiles. “But of course, I’ll take a real shower later!”
On the way to the supermarket, we find 25-year-old Eldad from Israel. “Happiness is finding your favourite smoothie while doing the groceries,” he chuckles.
Nancy (27) from the United States cannot wait to get her hair done this morning. “It’s basically the kick-off of my day. Nobody wants to start their day with bad hair, right?!”

Vanessa (23) from Germany prefers a game of beer pong over a solid breakfast. She calls out: “I sink ‘em, you drink ‘em!” Might not be what everyone needs in the morning, Vanessa, but thanks!
“The only workouts you regret are the ones you did not do,” states Noe (26) from Mexico. “I had to take a long trip to get here, I feel so relieved to finally move my muscles again.”
BELGIUM 2019
Abby (22) from the Netherlands is starting her day with make-up. “Home is where my make-up stash is, and DreamVille is my home for the weekend.”
Back home in Germany, the first thing that Christophe (26) and Martin (28) have to do in the morning is walk their dogs. “And just when you think you can finally take a break from this morning routine, you have to take care of this pupper named Jupiter. He’s a good boy, but so much for sleeping in!”
LAIDBACK KUNG FU
Alongside his superstar DJ and producer career, Laidback Luke has also competed in the Kung Fu World Championships twice, achieved a black belt, and has been active teaching Kung Fu on the side for a while. This form of martial arts helps him stay mindful. “In any case, it keeps you on the ground with both feet, and it’s an amazing cure against stress and tiredness,” he says. For this reason, the DJ was asked to share his favourite routine with the People of Tomorrow. Follow his steps and stay laidback!

Look at this lovely couple keeping up with the news! Shawny (23) and Simon (27) are from Germany. “A good newspaper, I suppose, is a nation talking to itself,” Simon says with aplomb. “From the People of Tomorrow, to the People of Tomorrow. How beautiful is that?”
BREAKFAST IS SERVED! Good morning DreamVille! You’re showing some fresh faces, some slightly less fresh faces, and a whole lot of happy smiles – all beaming at the beautiful break of dawn. Now, start off the day by doing the thing you need most – besides cleaning the last bits of last night’s stardust out of your eyes, of course. Once you’ve done that, you’re pretty much ready to take this whole Tomorrowland thing to the next level. It’s time for the most important meal of the day; breakfast! What is the power fuel to kickstart your engines? Would a juicy breakfast burger be key? A fresh smoothie with a bottomless cappuccino, perhaps? Or are you always in the mood for very social media proof pancakes? No worries, DreamVille’s Farmhouse has got you covered. What early (or not so early) meal adventures will you be having today?
“Sharing is caring,” Dorica (30) from Romania smiles while she is eating a piece of fruit. “Most of the time, that is. Actually, I’m here with my boyfriend Andrei, with whom I’m already sharing my life. So sharing my breakfast is kind of an obvious thing,” she laughs.
In front of her tents sits beautiful Luana (30) from Brazil. “I’m just very peacefully starting my day. I can’t wait for all that is to come.”

TOMORROW’S TREASURE Every year, Tomorrowland sees a temporary city arise and offer a home to tens of thousands of people. But what happens to their houses here when they go back to their regular home? Unfortunately, many tents are abandoned every year, even though these treasured palaces are still fine to use for many nights to come. That is why Love Tomorrow has begun the CAMP2CAMP initiative, which collects all of the camping gear left behind and gives it a new lease of life.
Andre from Germany made a conscious choice. “We have to take care of our planet, since there’s no plan B. It’s awesome how you can contribute to that by doing something you like. The location is also perfect, since it’s located in a quieter area. That really appeals to me.”
CAMP2CAMP offers several camping options at DreamVille, all of which feature tents that were sold at previous editions of Tomorrowland, but were orphaned by owners who were unable to take them home. Over the past year, these tents were thoroughly cleaned at social workshops, in an initiative to help unemployed people get work. All cleaned up and ready for round two, the tents are pre-pitched at a separate DreamVille zone, welcoming campers who have travelled from far and wide to come here. There’s even an option – only available with booking up front – to rent refurbished camping gear as well, down to sleeping bags and folding chairs to sit on. That way, CAMP2CAMP visitors only need to bring their shining smiles and a change of clothes!
Getting their fabulous hair ready for the day, we find Jade and Amber from Australia in front of their tents. “These tents are perfect, as they were already pitched before we arrived,” says Amber. Jade adds: “I am also very happy to be contributing to a good cause; sustainability is very important to me.”
1 Preventing waste Why go through all the effort of collecting, cleaning and redistributing the gear, you might wonder, if you could just toss the old stuff and buy new tents? The answer is that the production of new camping gear uses enormous amounts of resources and costs a lot of energy. Cleaning might be labourintensive, but it doesn’t cost thousands of litres of water, and nor does it require us to extract new plastics and other materials from Mother Earth. Unlike new production, the process also creates fair jobs for local people.
Spreading the love Besides the advantages already mentioned, CAMP2CAMP spreads benefits in the local community at a wider scale. For one, the concept and camping gear supply are shared with other festivals. This way, the gear sees even more use, preventing additional unnecessary production of stuff. Furthermore, when not in use at festivals, tents are rented out to local people who are on a tight budget, so that they can still enjoy a camping holiday even if they can’t afford a full kit. Yesterday’s trash truly becomes tomorrow’s treasure!

WOOD VIBES
ACTIVATE YOUR SENSES
The best memories of Tomorrowland live in your head – the irreplaceable images of joy that can’t be matched even by photographs. Second best are beautiful souvenirs, the ones that come from the heart. Conveniently located along the Road to DreamVille, SMTH is the place where you can get your favourite slogans, life lessons or messages of love engraved in gorgeous phone cases of two varieties of sustainable wood: the lighter-coloured bamboo, which is basically a weed that regrows within a few months, and walnut, one of the fastest-growing tree species in the world. The cases come in four varieties, all representing the Tomorrowland artwork in different ways. “The later it gets in the evening, the more spectacular the lyrics we are requested to engrave,” says Kristof from the Belgian province of De Kempen, who works behind the counter. “Quite common are inside jokes that only your friends would understand – and no, I shouldn’t repeat those to you. But we also receive many sweet requests I wouldn’t be ashamed to share if they weren’t kind of private.”
Every person is the author of their own state of mind. Taking a step back and being present right here, right now gives you the opportunity to broaden your senses and to experience every moment with even higher doses of endorphins. Want to see, hear and feel what that is like? Visit Sound Senses by ING for a threeminute whisper-therapy session that will put you into a meditative state, helping you find the inner peace to live your next experience even fuller. You will feel the wind brush against your skin, hear the vibrating air, see the nights of fire and taste the magic like you never have before. Afterwards, you can stay on their island of tranquility as long as you like, recharging alone or with a loved one, or with that gorgeous creature you met earlier. Bracelets can also easily and quickly be recharged with glittering new Pearls at a booth designed especially for that purpose by ING. It’s their ingenuity that has resulted in the cashless currency we use today, after all.
HELP OUT THE PLANET
All across the Holy Grounds, Love Tomorrow aims to reclaim materials for re-use. Why? It’s the planet, silly! If we are to move towards a sustainable Tomorrow – that means a Tomorrow wherein we can enjoy Tomorrowland yearly, forever – we need to seriously cut down on our use of new materials such as plastics. Therefore, you are kindly asked to help recycle – it’s as simple as throwing your rubbish into the right bin! These are the categories:
FREEBIES MAKE THE WORLD GO ROUND There’s so much to discover at Tomorrowland: little cosy dance areas that aren’t on the map, for example, which you’ll only find using the wisdom of your own senses. One of them is the Lipton area, where there’s an incredible amount of things to do all under one roof. A professional photographer takes your photo, which is put up on a big wall in a mosaic of pictures. The challenge is to find your own face. Afterwards, you’re likely to be thirsty for a cocktail or even a fancy mocktail. So, you 9
head to the bar wearing the super-cool free sunglasses you’ve just been given by the lovely staff. To top it all off, Lipton provides a free make-up service every day between 14h00 and 18h00. Leah (34) and Kelly (31), both from the US, had both been looking for exactly that today, so they couldn’t believe their luck when they found this place. “What they’ve done is natural, but adds some extra fun to my look as well,” says Leah happily.

INTO THE HELDEEP OLIVER HELDENS
With Oliver Heldens’ arrival in the global dance scene still being relatively recent, it is crazy to realise that his label Heldeep is turning five this year already. The project started out with a series of mixtapes, which became so successful that new and established producers started emailing Oliver in order to try and get their tracks featured in his tapes. The tapes became a radio show, the radio show led to the creation of a record label, and here we are: it is already the third time Oliver Heldens curates his very own Heldeep stage at Tomorrowland. We spoke to Oliver in (Hel)depth about the growth of his label, his relationship with Spinnin’ Records, the Heldeep stage and his work with one of pop music’s biggest ever producers, Nile Rodgers. Heldens’ approach to releasing music via Heldeep is pure and simple. “It’s been about releasing the kind of music that I want to create ever since I started the label – that’s something which hasn’t changed. I listen to the music carefully. The ‘wow’ factor that I look for in the music is hard to describe precisely, as it’s obviously about a feeling, an emotional thing. The key ingredients in a track I want to release are a certain freshness, a high level of originality, and it needs to get people dancing on the floor, it has to be something I’d want to play out to my crowds.” As is the case with many now successful DJs and producers, Heldens’ career started with the mighty Spinnin’ Records. “I signed a four-year contract with Spinnin’ when I was seventeen years old,” says Heldens. “It was a so-called 360 deal which included agreements on publishing and management. Whilst still within the contract 0 110
“Whatever I release on Heldeep needs to get people dancing.”
period, I was given the chance to start up my own label, backed by the success of my radio shows and also my own tracks. It made sense to extend what I was doing to collaborations with other artists, even if I wasn’t featured on their tracks. Initially, A&R – finding new artists – was done by Spinnin’, but we’ve recently acquired two people who exclusively look for new talent for Heldeep, which is great. We have the freedom to release whatever we want without having to acquire permission from Spinnin’.” Among Heldens’ favourite signees to Heldeep are his friends Zonderling, a duo from the Dutch city of Groningen, whom he met even before the record label came into being. “I’m a big admirer of their style. There’s a certain darkness to what they do and they very much represent their own style, which I find is a well-balanced mix between progressive, minimal techno and future house.”
TOMORROWLAND TODAY
Needless to say, Heldens’ own discography is swelling at a mind-boggling rate at the moment, with new releases coming out several times a year. One of the collaborations he’s most excited about is his work with Nile Rodgers, the top-notch New York-based producer behind smash hits such as David Bowie’s ‘Let’s Dance’, Daft Punk’s ‘Get Lucky’ and Madonna’s ‘Like a Virgin’. “I’ve known his music for a very long time,” says Heldens with a smile. “My parents were fans of his band Chic, and I’ve always admired his work as well, so about three years ago I decided to email him. I was thrilled when he responded that he wanted to cooperate on one of the tracks I sent him. That track is still unfinished, but he then invited me to record with him at the famous Abbey Road Studios in London. We have several finished tracks that are yet to come out, but ‘Summer Love’ has been released and is doing very well in several countries. It really is a great pleasure to work with him. I don’t really notice he’s so much older than

me and we work very democratically, our input in the tracks is equally divided.” One of Heldens’ favourite channels to reach a new audience is by way of hosting his own Heldeep parties, and even more so by hosting stages such as here at Tomorrowland. “There is a lot of backand-forth between Heldeep and Tomorrowland involved, but it’s. It’s fantastic to be able to program artists you admire. This year, I was excited to have Toby Green on board. His career is skyrocketing at the moment. He’s got a few tracks that a lot of people play out in their sets, it’s all super fresh and original. The same goes for Ofenbach: their style is unique as well and they get played out a lot too, especially on the radio. All in all, curating stages is one of the things I enjoy best right now in my career, and Tomorrowland obviously is a highlight. It’s a collaboration I hope will continue far into the future.”
“Programming stages is a fun thing to do, something I really enjoy.”
Heldeep Artist in Focus: Zonderling Martijn van Sonderen, half of production duo Zonderling, first met Oliver Heldens whilst touring in Australia. They got along right away and it was a big discovery for Martijn to hear that such a young Dutch guy was behind the massive hit ‘Gecko’. The musical admiration turned out to be mutual, and Heldens was very keen to release some of Zonderling’s darker tracks on his label, a sound he thought fit well with his own slightly sinister alter ego, HI-LO. Key Zonderling tracks on Heldeep are ‘Over’, with Dannic and Promise Land, and a more recent cut called ‘Lee’, which is a collaboration with MOGUAI.

LED THE WAY
CELLINI’S GOODBYE TO PLASTIC
Want to impress the cutie you locked eyes with during one of the shows? There’s a little something that will do just the trick, and it’s available at all the drinks bars you’ll see as you twirl around from show to show. Dancing will make you thirsty, after all, and Red Bull has been quenching people’s thirst from the very first edition of Tomorrowland. Their energy drink, combined with some Absolut Vodka, makes for a beverage that’s been a favourite for as long as anyone can remember – but now it comes with just the twist the seducer in you needed. All new, uniquely designed LED cups are available with this drink, and they light up like the sun as soon as the gorgeous liquids are poured in. You’ll have to see it to believe it! These magic chalices can be purchased with your Absolut Vodka – Red Bull drink for 1 Pearl extra.
Belgian talent Cellini has come on strong on the local scene with his characteristic atmospheric techno, making it to Dave Clarke’s stage on Friday through Cycle Four, the nightlife platform he set up together with famous nightclub FUSE. Should there have been an award for the most green and eco-conscious DJ at Tomorrowland, it would’ve been for Cellini to take home. “During the IMS at Ibiza I took part in a beach cleanup, and that opened my eyes and inspired me to take action,” he explains. “I started the concept ‘The Eco Rider’, an initiative to make artist riders plastic-free, and invited some colleagues to get on board. Where possible, we avoid using plastic straws, bottles and cups. I bring my own reusable water bottle everywhere. At Tomorrowland this year, we even chose some second-hand Persian carpets and recycled materials to decorate the stage. I live in Brussels, so I took part in the climate strikes and was inspired by them, but my main goal is to make people think about sustainability, talk about it and keep it on top of the agenda. We’re not going to change the world by having DJs not use plastic cups, but if we can keep the conversation going, we’re one step closer to a better, cleaner and greener world.”
AN ISLAND OF MUSIC
Floating on water, surrounded by flowers, and immersed in beats coming from up, down, left and right, the LEAF stage is once again powered by JBL this year. Last year, the audio brand threw their watertight speakers into the pond surrounding them, but this time, you can keep your feet dry and still enjoy sounds coming from all over the place. With their brand new Partybox 1100 hidden in the floors and ceilings, covered in flowers and decoration, you’re in for a ride: this new portable speaker, rated at 1100 Watts, is enough to bring Tomorrowland to your own backyard and invite the whole neighborhood to party along. Franky Rizardo, Luuk van Dijk, Kiasmos and Hunter/Game are but a few of the artists to try out the sound system at LEAF this weekend, and with those references, you can’t really go wrong, right? Head down to the island to sit down, have a listen and enjoy the scenery.
RUMBLE IN THE JUNGLE
Ever found yourself wandering around an endless jungle with incredible cenotes? If you haven’t, here is a good suggestion: follow the lead of Jennifer, Stephanie and Ramona, who are experiencing the jungle right here on the Holy Grounds. Sipping on their sparkly bottled drinks, the girls from the Netherlands enjoy the sandy beach, tropical live beats from the DJ, and a wonderful view of the pond. “This place almost has kind of a Tulum-ish touch to it,” Jennifer chuckles. “We came here for the chill vibes and just to hang out. If I had to describe it, 13
I would not really have an idea of how I should do it – it’s something unique,” she says about this magical, tropical location named the Casa Corona. And indeed; it’s hard to describe a tropical garden that looks like a beach, but is also a South American casa with all kinds of cool objects and an amazing decor. Located right across from the renowned Rose Garden, the ‘casa’ offers all the facilities you could possibly need before a good time out in the fields. Here, you can relax, refresh and renew.

THE BOOK OF WISDOM THE RETURN
TOMORROWLAND TODAY
“Happy birthday Tomorrowland, on to the next 15 years!”
TOMORROWLAND ACCORDING TO YVES V
A TRIP THROUGH 15 YEARS OF HISTORY “It’s my birthday as well, what a nice way to celebrate it”
“I’ve always been one for joining the party, especially back then.”
He’s been one of the faces of Tomorrowland since the very beginning, 15 years ago, and he’s grown together with the festival. He was one of the first Belgian DJs to play the Tomorrowland Mainstage and has performed there almost every year since, besides being an official resident DJ for TomorrowWorld in Atlanta and Tomorrowland Brasil. Since 2012, he’s been hosting his own V-Sessions stage at the festival, featuring artists like Laidback Luke, Regi and Timmy Trumpet yesterday. Frankly, there was only one guy who ticked all the boxes when it came down to celebrating 15 years of Tomorrowland with a flashback to the past, a peak into the future and a whole lot of cake: Yves V. Yves, you played here for the first time in 2006, during the second edition of Tomorrowland. At what point in your career was that? What were you up to at the time? Yves V: “I was mainly doing club shows in Belgium at that point. Before my first time at Tomorrowland I was invited by ID&T Belgium – which is what the Tomorrowland organisation was called then – to play in the VIP room of Sensation White at the Sportpaleis in Antwerp. I did that for two years in a row, and then for the third year, they invited me to play the Mainstage right here. As I was putting a lot of effort in building up my musical career back then, that invitation was like a gift from the gods. However, I do remember that when I mentioned playing the Tomorrowland Mainstage to friends they weren’t all that impressed. The name didn’t really have a ring to it back then. It was known, but it didn’t come with the accolades we are used to now.” 14
Do you remember anything about that first time? “I remember that all my friends were there. The first few rows in front of me were just packed with friends and people I knew from the Antwerp clubbing scene. Everywhere I looked I saw familiar faces. It was a home game for sure. I remember that my girlfriend was allowed to sit next to me on the Mainstage, playing with her phone. Everything was at ease, relaxed, not as tight as it is today. Not better or worse, that is, just different. I even went partying in front of the Mainstage after my set. I’ve always been one for joining the party, especially back then.” Were you playing outdoor festivals before 2006? “Not really, I’m pretty sure Tomorrowland was the first or at least one of the first outdoor gigs I did. You know, back then there weren’t many, or any, outdoor dance music festivals in the Benelux. You had Rock Werchter and Pukkelpop, but they programmed either pop and rock or more leftfield techno and house. They didn’t do any commercial dance music of any kind, at least back then.”
TOMORROWLAND TODAY Tomorrowland has always been supportive towards you. In what way did that help your career? “It’s undeniable that Tomorrowland gave me a hell of a push forward. Tomorrowland suddenly exploded into stardom, and I do believe that I was lucky enough to be able to surf along on that wave. But because I had been part of the family before, it all came pretty natural when things went interstellar. It wasn’t orchestrated or anything, it wasn’t really thought through. It just happened and I’m glad it did. Besides that, I made the right decision when I started producing my own music, which of course helped a lot to keep me where I am.” You didn’t exactly start off as a DJ/ producer. Where were your roots as a musician? “I started off as just a DJ, and it wasn’t until much later that I actually started producing and doing remixes. When I felt the call of the gigs abroad becaming louder there was a need to grow as an artist as well. If I wanted to keep the opportunities coming I needed to step up my game, and that’s what I did. I think I took that decision way too late, though – I would have been glad to do it earlier!” What artists were you influenced by as you took to the studio to write your own material? “I have had many phases. When I started out it was the techno and trance scene that were booming in Belgium, so I did that and listened to that. My dream back in the day was to play those kinds of clubs, but when that didn’t work out I started playing bars and student pubs, and was forced to play pretty much everything. to house, and so on. Through those phases I’ve had many faces as a DJ and as a producer as well. There’s not really one main influence.” Let’s head a bit further in history then: what made you turn to dance music? “When I was a kid, I went to the big rock festivals to see bands like Pearl Jam and Biohazard. But I also saw acts like Daft Punk, Underworld and The Chemical Brothers at those same rock festivals, and they really opened my eyes. It was as if a whole new world opened up to me. I still listen to all kinds of music and I have a very broad taste, which has found its way into my own music as well.” Going back to Tomorrowland: what was the most beautiful moment of the last 15 years? “There’s so many… But if I had to choose one, I’d pick my first time at The Gathering, which was also the very first Gathering ever. It was nothing compared to what it is today, the DJ booth was literally a Red Bull truck. But I remember seeing tables being thrown into the air. I even had to queue for hours to get onto the campsite. It was mayhem, total chaos, but what a great party. I also played the very first B-EAT, which was for only 50 people or so back then, so again: nothing compared to what it is today, but it was new and unique. I’ve had the honour of doing a lot of firsts, and I’ll always be grateful for that.”
“We were actually on our way to see Yves V, and now he’s here handing us cake!”
YVES V’S FAVORITE CAKES • Fruit cake • Rice cake • Frangipane cake

THE BOOK OF WISDOM THE RETURN
RESISTANCE IS FUTILE Is there life beyond Tomorrowland? Does the Book record wisdoms from other worlds? Where did those crop circles spotted on Amare’s inbound flights come from? And did your friends really just disappear on a bar run, or was that the swooshing sound of an alien tractor beam? Those of you who have an interest in life out there in space know that forcing things is useless. Until they come to see us from their planet, we are obliged to wait patiently. It’s as if they were saying: don’t call us, we’ll call you. But being patient is hard, given the excitement a mind-blowing concept like space spurs into our little human brains. Our passionate preoccupation with the sky, the stars, and lifeforms somewhere in outer space is a homing impulse. We are drawn back to where we came from: humans went into space, humans landed on the moon and took a huge leap for mankind, orchestrated by the most eminent brainiacs out there. But what if it was the other way around? What if space came a-knocking at our door?
The universe, as far as we can observe it, is a wonderful and unimaginably immense thing. It lures us in, but how do we react when the universe sets foot into that world that we call ours? Can these friendly visitors from outer space, by any chance, make our quest for the stars any less improbable? Should we interpret their presence as a way of saying: our house is your house, please come over to our planet, we’ll welcome you in the same friendly manner in which this ‘Tomorrowland’ you speak of has welcomed us? Is this an invitation to surf the vastness of the Milky Way? Should we all get our heads up in the clouds? We sure hope so.
Well, try not to panic, but the time is now. The Harbour House theatre is no more: crash, bang, wallop, and it’s been taken over by new inhabitants in suspiciously shiny suits. When did this happen? We have no clue, but the fact is that they have spent some time remodeling the Harbour House into their new home. There are receivers and antennas – to phone home, perhaps – as well as posters of what appear to be rock stars from space. Just past noon they came out for the first time, and confirming everyone’s worst suspicions, they went robot rocking it all the way to the milky way.
So many questions, and yet so little answers. There is nothing to do but sit back, strap yourself tight onto the rocket of experiences that the aliens project into your mind, and lift off. The reason of the UFO and the spacemen’s presence here will surely unfold in the near or farther future, as that is likely where they came from. But if there’s one clue, it’s that we did hear a crackling voice, coming from underneath their helmet, saying something like: “we’ll be back.” 19

Ko re a Sn a c k s
One of the classics at Tomorrowland are these Korean snacks, served to you by a mother and daughter who have teamed up to bring you the tastes of the Asian cuisine. Think spring rolls and mie, but not as you know them. Just as good as the food itself here is the immense smile that comes with it. Priceless, but it won’t cost you one extra Pearl!

The marriage between Tomorrowland and great food is celebrating its 15th anniversary this edition, and like a fine wine, it’s getting better every year. There’s food from all over the world, selected by chefs and caterers from every compass point, as well as local, Belgian food ranging from streetfood bites to the best haute cuisine. Tag along on a journey across the Holy Grounds and have your taste buds tickled, your senses overwhelmed and your stomach satisfied at every turned.

Belgians know that their own local ‘frituur’ (fried food joint) is always the best one, and the ‘frituur’ of Swa & Marieke is located very close to De Schorre. Swa & Marieke are OG’s when it comes to frying the ultimate Belgian nutrition export product next to chocolate: fries. If local, Belgian, down-to-earth cuisine is the thing you’re after, then pay a visit to the ever-friendly couple.

At Brasa, in between the Orangerie and the LEAF stage, you can feel the heat from miles away. Get drawn into the flames of the Ofyr fires and smell and hear the meat sizzling away on the grills. As opposed to the Brasa restaurant, you don’t need a voucher for the Ofyr; just walk in and feast on their steak sandwich, porchetta sandwich, Secreto 07 or Black Aberdeen burger.

Roger van Damme has a season ticket when it comes to serving food at Tomorrowland, as he’s been part of the festival since the early days. At his Gelateria, near the Atmosphere stage, he’s serving sweets of the finest kinds. Just scream ‘sugar’ and you’ll get a ginormous ice cream or a waffle topped with anything your heart desires (as long as it’s whipped cream, chocolate or strawberries).
This year, the splendid Aperto restaurant is hosted by chef Tijs Meliefste, who’s been very creative in mixing the wellknown marvels and magic of Tomorrow with bites and beverages of a level unseen at other festivals. To give you an idea: your appetizers are served hanging from an actual (little) tree. Eat that.

B - EAT

The one place at Tomorrowland where music and food come together in one big symphony is B-EAT. This exclusive experience offers a walking dinner by the finest chefs, with a DJ dishing out the beats in the meantime. B-EAT captures the essence of Tomorrowland, and it’s located in the big club-like tent behind the Mainstage.

Restaurant The Jane from Antwerp – two Michelin stars – goes back to basics with a selection of streetfood with a twist. Imagine a hot dog and some ribs toned up a few notches into the upper culinary echelons, and you’ll get the gist of what they’re doing here at Tomorrowland. Their Harissa Dog even has a vegetarian option.

Make sure to taste their exquisite butter chicken.

If you’re up for a healthy lunch, make sure to drop in at Humphrey’s, located at the food court behind the Mainstage. The restaurant from Brussels offers you their signature poké bowl, filled with jasmine rice, grilled zucchini, pickled radishes and cucumber. The bowl is topped off with a sauce based on calamansi, coco, sesame seeds, seaweeds and edible flowers.

TOMORROWLAND
ONE WORLD RADIO LOVE IS IN THE AIRWAVES Sunnery James and Ryan Marciano talked about representing Tomorrowland in Malta during the UNITE moment. They’re looking forward to that moment of Unity throughout the world.
Leave it up to Dimitri Vegas and Like Mike to play their track ‘The Hum’ using nothing but a CO2 cannon. Adam K wanted to know all about it, and the boys also let on that they’re releasing a new track every week this summer.
The initial idea was to celebrate 15 years of Tomorrowland with a temporary 24/7 radio station that would feature exclusive tracks, unique mixes, new releases and the most iconic live sets from the vaults of the festival. But since the concept grew over the course of the last year, and became hugely successful during Tomorrowland Winter, Tomorrowland – One World Radio will keep on going. Providing a new standard in live dance music radio, it has become the go-to place for People of Tomorrow to keep updated with what’s what and who’s who in today’s overall electronic music scene. Presenter Adam K explains: “Tomorrowland – One World Radio was officially launched here, on these very grounds. Exactly where the Mainstage is standing now, none other than Steve Aoki dropped a DJ set. Steve just loved it, and that was it! We were in, up and going. The next thing we did was Tomorrowland Winter, where we built a big studio on top of the mountain, and what followed was one highlight after another. Other achievements include the Tomorrowland Top 1000 and the Ibiza 500, where we did a week’s worth of broadcasting from a boat. We had special DJ sets by Sunnery and Claptone there, it was fantastic. You can watch everything we do on YouTube as well. For this weekend, well… The whole thing our station was set up for was to celebrate 15 years of Tomorrowland, and that’s exactly what we’re doing right here, right now. We’re going live from the grounds, we’ll get in the mix with all of Tomorrowland’s stages, and we’ll have a chat with a whole bunch of artists. The idea was to bring the radio station to an end after these two weekends, and August was meant to be some free time for my colleagues and me, but that idea’s gone:
"Ever Since the launch in February we've been from one climax to the next"

“We’ll even be carrying on after the second weekend. Tomorrowland - One World Radio stays in the air!” we’re carrying on! And we’re everywhere, we’re on the app, we’re on the Tomorrowland website, we’re actually in the FM airwaves on Ibiza, on DAB+ in Belgium... The job is a ton of fun to do, as we’ve got our own presenters Justin, Valerie, Camille and me, but also NERVO doing the regular chart show and Armin van Buuren doing the weekend kick-off. Besides that, Salvatore Ganacci’s always coming in on the phone - it’s like an extended family. This weekend, we hijacked the StuBru studio by The Gathering on Thursday, and then we moved to the festival in order to broadcast live from deep down in the Madness. Justin and Valerie will be going live during the Daybreak Sessions, and then I’ll do three in the afternoon until one at night. So tune in and get in on the Madness!”
Charlotte brought her family to Tomorrowland and said they’re well behaved, as they’re holding on to her drinks. Last week she celebrated her birthday at Tomorrowland and Sam Paginini even played a birthday song to her.
Adam K noticed that Mike Williams took off his shoes on stage, and wanted to know all about it. Mike showed him his branded Mike Williams socks and announced his upcoming clothing line.
Ummet Ozcan has been here for six years in a row now, and has the fondest memories of closing out the Smash the House stage with Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike. It wasn’t just the three of them; a whole bunch of other DJs came in to lend a hand as well.

GO FOR GOLD
UNITING FLAVOURS
Ready to spit fire? The upcoming summer is the perfect time to get a new style of sunnies on. As you already must have noticed, accessories are an important part of the looks of the People of Tomorrow. In the bling department, you might spot sparkly necklaces, fashionable purses, and other state-of-the-art embellishments. For its 15th anniversary, Tomorrowland is out with another bold look, as the brand new official Tomorrowland x Komono Brooklyn 24k Gold Sunglasses have officially been launched. Another news alert? There were only 50 items produced.
Your cooking will be even more goodlooking from now on! So many People of Tomorrow are known for their exquisite taste, and now they can remind themselves of the journey they’ve made this weekend every time they stir up their own tastes of the world. At Staub’s stand behind the Mainstage, you can invest in your cooking with one of their cast-iron cocottes. Staub’s classic pots, also known as casseroles, have long been a favourite of many chefs want to give their flavours all the time in the world to flourish. If you buy one here, you can even get the knob engraved with a personal message. A name or a special date, perhaps? Whatever you choose, Staub will take care of delivery to your home, so that you can continue your journey without any hassle.
Each pair of these luxury sunglasses displays the iconic logo on both temples, and has the quote ‘Live Today, Love Tomorrow, Unite Forever’ engraved on the inside. Coated in 24-karat gold, the lenses are a true fashion statement and also offer 100% UV 400 Protection. In order to create these spectacular spectacles, TML by Tomorrowland partnered up with Komono – an Antwerp-based brand that brings its sleek design, inspired colour palette and minimalist aesthetic to the world of accessories. Must have a pair? These sunglasses are available in the Official TML by Tomorrowland Boutiques at the food court behind the Mainstage and at the day entrance.
LET THE DAY BEGIN
There is no doubt that gin & tonic is one of the most popular drinks at this moment, and Fever-Tree serves G&Ts and similar treats based on their own selection of tonics and mixers. At their OriGINs bar, you can unwind under one of the tipi tents or in the sofas while enjoying an incredible view of the LEAF stage. At one of the high wooden tables, we find Constanza (25) and Nelson (35) from Argentina sipping on their favourite drink. “I actually got the Tomorrowland Special,” Constanza says. “I think it consists of ginger ale, Beefeater gin, zest of grapefruit and mint. We heard someone describe it as an explosion of pleasure on your tongue, and they weren’t joking. It’s really good!”
ROOKIE NOW, FAMOUS TOMORROW
It’s the dream of every DJ: playing a set at Tomorrowland. Well, you’d be surprised to know how easily this wish can come true. Smack-dab in the middle of the Land of Wisdom, you’ll find Sound of Tomorrow, an area powered by Pepsi Max, where anyone with a USB stick and enough courage is given no less than fifteen minutes of fame. All sets are eternalised on camera and then emailed to the DJ in question, for promotional use on their social media outlets, for example. Alessandro (28) from Switzerland heard about this opportunity when he came to Boom last year, but sadly hadn’t brought his music with him then. This year he came prepared: “To join the competition was the first thing on my bucket list this weekend. I played about ten tracks, an incredible experience!” 25

THE LIBRARY OF TOMORROW
United are the tales of Yesteryear, in the Mainstage that was built to remind us of the beautiful years gone by, to celebrate the journey we’ve been through and to reflect on the love given and received. Rejoice, as the Book of Wisdom has returned to these Holy Grounds. Its stories are being re-read, carefully and meticulously. With so many details to see and memories to revisit, what caused a particular sparkle in the eyes of the People of Tomorrow when they first laid eyes on this spectacular library?
Tanja (19) and Mirjan (22) from Belgium
“It’s all so detailed! We love seeing Planaxis and the Amicorum Spectaculum in it, those are the editions we’ve been to. We’re sisters, so all those memories will definitely go into our family’s book of magical moments.”
Carl (29) and Mikael (30) from Sweden
“Last year we remembered and honored Avicii with a huge Swedish flag. It’s very emotional to us that he’s being recognized like this. It means more than we can put into words.”
Carolina (24) and Yamilet (24) from Spain
“We literally got goosebumps when we saw the piece of art that is the mainstage. We saw some footage from last weekend and can’t wait for the Book of Wisdom to re-open. It’s all very spectacular.”
Sebastian (23) from Spain
“Do you see the book in the middle of it? It’s closed, but you can see some pages. I love the mystery of it. I wonder if it’ll open up at some point. So exciting!” 26
Daniel (29), Angel (25) and Isabella (19) from Spain
“This is our fifth year, so we were eager to find the themes we’ve travelled through previously. The castle from the Secret Kingdom of Melodia is exquisite! The stage as a whole reflects the unity we feel here.”
Dorien (24) and Nathalie (23) from Belgium
“This stage is such an amazing tribute to the past 15 years of love. The big eyes of the Tree of Life are especially mesmerizing.”

FOCUS ON THE MUSIC What’s the red line running through the wisest story ever told on Earth? That’s right – music. From the tentative first sounds of the day at the smaller stages to the thunderous roar of thousands singing along by the Mainstage, there is never a quiet page in the Book of Wisdom. On the following pages, you can learn all there is to know about the sounds that you will hear during your stay at Tomorrowland. You’ll find artist interviews, biographies of acts that you don’t want to miss, the full timetable for all stages, and a daily Daybreak Sessions feature. Read on, and enjoy the music!

OSCAR AND THE WOLF PRES. INFINITY
With invariably strong releases year on year, Berlin’s excellent Afterlife Records has grown to become one of the strongest and most respected imprints when it comes to melodic, mind-bending techno. It’s music that truly brings you to another level, makes your heart skip a beat, makes your stomach feel fluttery and takes you into a deep state of trance. Naturally, they’re bringing some of the strongest artists from their roster and wider circles to Tomorrowland: Adriatique, Cellini, Mathame, Rødhåd, Âme, Recondite (live) and, of course, Italy’s most famous techno duo, label runners Tale of Us, who are one of the highest-ranking act in the Resident Advisor Top 100 (that’s the one that ranks the planet’s best underground DJs).
From the northern suburbs of Amsterdam comes Q-dance, whose events such as Defqon.1, Qlimax, and X-Qlusive are all centered around the harder styles of electronic dance music. With their events and with Qlimax in particular, Q-dance has sold out a wide range of stadiumsized venues, creating a no-holds-barred atmosphere that will no doubt be recreated at their own little patch of Tomorrowland. If there’s one promoter responsible for the huge and enduring popularity of hardstyle throughout the past decades, it’s probably Q-dance. It’s very exciting, in other words, to see these passionate people bring the biggest names within the harder styles to Boom, from Brennan Heart to MANDY and from Radical Redemption to Partyraiser.
Outright unique within the world of EDM festivals is Tomorrowland’s collaboration with indie poppers Oscar and the Wolf, who have been invited to program their very favourite DJs and live acts at the Lotus stage. There are spectacular appearances scheduled here, including the biggest man in Britain’s second wave of grime music, Skepta, whose club-centred, bass-heavy beats are set to grab everyone’s attention. Equally exciting is the hour-long DJ set by one of New York City’s biggest ever producers of house music, Armand van Helden, mostly known for his hits ‘You Don’t Know Me’ and ‘Witch Doktor’. Last but not least, Oscar and the Wolf will treat you to a full live set, which will no doubt feature their biggest tune ‘You’re Mine’.

Welcome to the second Daybreak Session of the weekend. Anyone who’s witnessed Kölsch’s set yesterday will know the purpose of the concept; it’s a warm-up to the rave where gentle beats and melodies find a way to wake up your dancing feet, as it were. Every Daybreak is different, though, and today’s edition will definitely set itself apart from yesterday’s. On this Saturday morning, the golden-faced German boy that goes by the name of Claptone will serve as your wake-up call. There’s a lot of mystery surrounding Claptone, one of the most gifted deep house DJs on the planet, with his own productions once wonderfully described by Mixmag as ‘crisply produced and effortlessly infectious’. One of the biggest questions around the artist is whether we’re talking about one or two people. The confusion arose a few years back, when Claptone performed at two different locations at exactly the same time. Say what? Yes, you heard it right. The man (or men) hides behind a wonderful golden-beaked mask, so will we ever know the answer? His identity isn’t all that important, though, when the music he plays is among some of the best chilled-out but danceable house music to be heard on global dance floors right now. The wide variety of top-notch vocalists who have contributed to his work only add up to the relaxed vibe of the music. With features by Peter, Bjorn and John, Jay-Jay Johanson and Boxer Rebellion's Nathan Nicholson, and remixes of work by the likes of Gregory Porter and Florence + the Machine, Claptone’s delicate output is the perfect, easygoing soundtrack to start the day with.

SAM FELDT
FOCUS ON INCREDIBLE SATURDAY MAINSTAGE | 17h50 - 18h50
One broken leg can break a lot of hearts. Last year, Dutch DJ/producer Sam Feldt (25) had to cancel his gig on the Mainstage as he was forced to stay at home due to a scooter accident. This year he is back – back in the saddle at his hometown of Amsterdam as well as on stage worldwide, including two weekends of Tomorrowland. And his star is on the rise, as he is currently scoring a huge hit – 37.5 million streams already – with ‘Post Malone’. It’s about time to get to know this living legend a bit better. Nowadays, there’s no getting around you, but how did your career first get started? “It all began with two regular CD players when I was about eleven years old. I invented my own drive-in show of sorts. In a fully stuffed Seat Marbella, my dad took me to all kinds of parties. I would mix records on those two CD players for hours on end. Every time I saved enough money, I bought new stuff like a smoke machine or a strobe. Years later, during a holiday in Albufeira, I saw DJ Billy the Kit perform in discotheque Kiss Club. Sounds dodgy, I know. But back then, when I was seventeen, this performance made a huge impression. From that day on, I knew that this was what I wanted to do in life.” You are an ambassador of sustainable projects such as Plastic Promise and GreenSeat; sustainability is obviously high on your agenda. How did this awareness come about?
“Well, both of my parents are vegetarian hippies. You could say I was raised like that. Unfortunately, my job cannot be done by a Skype videocall. I started to feel like the bad guy because of my flight schedule. And over the last five years, I have seen the world change so much. One time in Vegas, our aircraft could not take off as the tarmac was simply too hot. In China and Indonesia, I saw the effects of environmental pollution, as well. That is when I wanted to take action myself.”
“It all began with two regular CD players” So, what did you do about it? “Small things and bigger things. For example, my rider (the list of gear and food & drinks a DJ requests for their gig – eds.) is completely plastic-free. That means that there should be glasses instead of plastic cups backstage, and that straws and PET are no longer allowed either. I have also exchanged my car for a hybrid model. And I invest in projects in Uganda that offset my CO2 emissions. Instead of cooking over open fires, families there are now purchasing clean stoves.” What to expect of your – live – performance at TML? Will we hear some unreleased tracks? “We have created a whole new live show this summer, which we are constantly finetuning. At Tomorrowland you will hear a lot of new records – expect some club mixes and 29
remixes which I have never played before. And the live band will come along on stage this weekend. Ever since I released my very first track, I’ve worked with one, two, three or four real instruments like saxophone, trumpet, piano and drums, so that’s the sound you can expect.” What does a normal weekend for you look like in, let’s say, July 2019? “Wow, let me think. I’ve done nineteen gigs over the three weeks before Tomorrowland. Sometimes it gets pretty hard to remember what you were doing even a day ago. The weekend before Tomorrowland, I had a show at Airbeat One in Germany. The day before that I was at ElectroBeach Festival in France. During summer, things get quite crazy.” And a normal weekend for you when you are not on tour? “I just watched ‘Good Girls’ with my girlfriend on Netflix! A guilty pleasure, but funny. Actually, when I am at home, I’m pretty boring. It’s a strange thing: people think you live a non-stop glamorous life as a professional DJ. But I really just want to live a normal life at home.” You’ve worked with massive stars such as Jeremy Renner, Akon and Rita Ora. If you could collaborate with any person you wanted, who would be on top of your wish list? “Paul McCartney, Jack Johnson and John Mayer. Those are definitely the greats! Who knows what will happen in the future…”

ÂME
Afterlife (Atmosphere) | 21h00 - 23h00 Together with Dixon, German house-producing duo Âme run the Innervisions label, an outlet for forward-thinking house music within a scene often obsessed with its own glorious past. Âme productions are always emotionally charged, with some of their now classic tracks leaning more towards deep house (‘Rrose Selavy’), while other tracks evoke the same feeling with a more techno kind of vibe (‘Fiori’). Ranking in Resident Advisor’s Top 20 year after year, Frank Wiedemann and Kristian Beyer are also skillful DJs. Don’t miss these legends if you like your house and techno deep.
THESE ARE THE WRITERS OF THE BOOK OF WISDOM
ARMAND VAN HELDEN Oscar & the Wolf pres. Infinity (Lotus) | 23h50 - 01h00
One of the most independent and impressive producers ever to come out of New York’s house scene, Armand van Helden has also proven himself to be one of the most versatile. Credited to be one of the main proponents of the speed garage scene back in the early 2000s, Van Helden has always been more successful in the UK and Europe than in his native America. His sound remained largely underground at the time, even though remixes were delivered for the likes of Katy Perry, Daft Punk, Britney Spears, Bloc Party, Enrique Iglesias, Janet Jackson and Sam Smith. More impressive even than these works are the tracks he’s produced fully under his own name. With lyrics every free-spirited person can relate to, ‘You Don’t Know Me’ remains to be one of the most epic, floor-filling house tracks of all time, while ‘Witch Doktor’ is also a major achievement as one of the few house/hiphop hybrids that actually worked. Nearly all of Van Helden’s early productions have stood the test of time and the proud producer knows it like no other – his funky and energetic DJ sets are jam-packed with recognisable hits from the master himself.
YVES DERUYTER
SOLOMUN
A former resident DJ at legendary Belgian clubs such as Globe, Barocci, Cherrymoon, Extreme, Carat and La Rocca, Yves Deruyter is potentially the most lauded among all of this country’s many veteran DJs. Not only will his name be forever connected to these clubs; he’s also very much part of the Bonzai Records family, a chief outlet for some of the world’s biggest rave anthems throughout the nineties. Rave, trance and a little touch of early hardcore is what you’ll hear Deruyter play in his sets; it’s about time you closed your eyes and started raising your hands.
Party-heads among famous DJs, we can all name a few. Ricardo Villalobos is a famous one; there’s Prins Thomas, always with a bottle of whiskey at his side; and in recent years, Diynamic Records’ head honcho Solomun has been added to the list. Inseparable from his sunnies, the Luxembourg-based DJ is used to playing very long after-hours sets and will likely give you a little peek into that scene closing out his very own stage. Beware, though: musically, Solomun is a house head of the evangelical type, and he’s converted quite a few ravers to the genre. You’ll be left wanting more!

LIVE VITALIC
MIND AGAINST
DAVID GUETTA
Mind Against is the project of Alessandro and Federico Fognini, Italian-born but based in Berlin. Those two geographical factors might give you an idea of how their sublime mixture of sound feels: etching a musical amalgam that draws from the combined roots of IDM, house and techno, they’ve managed to carve a wellearned place for themselves amidst like-minded musicians such as Tale of Us and Pan-Pot. The duo coax on psychedelic hooks of the 1980s and dance floor anthems bound traditionally to European soil. This backdrop makes for releases and performances that do well against any canvas, especially the one they’ll have at Joris Voorn’s Spectrum hosting at the Core stage.
Never mind his advanced age, David Guetta no doubt remains one of the key figures in the electronic scene. Credited for being one of the first producers to incorporate pop into his club sound, the Frenchman soon realised his then revolutionary experiment would make him famous for years to come. It’s hard to imagine now, but nobody had thought to create a pumping pop/ house jam like ‘When Love Takes Over’ before Guetta did it with Kelly Rowland back in 2009. As we all know, many incredible collabs with The Black Eyed Peas, Kid Cudi and others followed. Make sure to be ready for the hits…

Every once in a while, Pascal Arbez sets the idyllic countryside around Dijon in France aflame, blasting rumbling techno right into the otherwise quiet landscape. That’s the moment Arbez transforms into Vitalic, the electrohouse phenomenon that gave the past two decades of dance music one of its most iconic anthems: the delirious ‘La Rock 01’. It’s been fifteen years since Vitalic shook up the electronic music world single-handedly, forging a unique style full of fat reese basses and energetic melodies. A lot of the songs from his classic album ‘Ok Cowboy’, like ‘Poney’, ‘My Friend Dario’ and ‘Cocaine’, became club

classics that tore down the previously strict borders between techno, disco, rock and pop. It could even be argued that it was Vitalic who put France back on the dance music map, paving the way for the likes of Justice and Etienne de Crecy. Now he’s back with the album ‘Voyager’, which was released in 2017, and he is as determined as ever to have Tomorrowland dance to his well-known bangers as well as some brand-new ventures. If you’re up for a blunt mix of scorching electro sounds with elements of classical, rock, Italo-disco and other ‘80s electronic music, this live set by Vitalic is where you should be at.
French enfant terrible DJ Snake (“the name sucks but it’s too late now”) brings the street to Tomorrowland. Citing Wu Tang Clan and the French classic gangster movie ‘La Haine’ as his early influences, Snake still breathes the culture of the Parisian banlieues. Snake’s career skyrocketed at a dazzling speed in 2013 with his banging trap-influenced single ‘Turn Down for What’ coming out on Diplo’s Mad Decent imprint. His collaborative effort with Major Lazer and Mø, ‘Lean On’, sealed the deal only two years later, becoming one of 2015’s anthemic hits. Expect an hour of turbo-charged trap and bass music tonight. 31
Spectrum (Core) | 23h00 - 01h00 Techno never managed to shake off its dark, underground image, but a few key representatives of the sound managed to break through genre barriers and spread the gospel all around. Joris Voorn, for instance, delivered mixes for the BBC’s Essential Mix series, as well as filling key residencies at Ibiza’s major venues such as Space and Amnesia. While his early releases gained support by the world’s most credible deejays such as Carl Craig, Derrick May and Laurent Garnier, he also managed to reach a much wider audience with later tunes. It comes as no surprise to see Joris hosting his own Spectrum stage, but that doesn’t make it any less exciting!
