“Wonderful work that celebrates the possibilities of theatre” Lyn Gardner, The Guardian

Pinocchio

Inventive, visually & verbally witty with a big heart

28 Dec - 02 Jan

Steve Tiplady, as Geppetto, uses the objects of a carpenter’s workshop to tell the tale of the puppet that wants to be a real boy, and the puppet-maker who wants to be a real father. Pinocchio is carved on stage, brushes become a fox and the shadow of two saws transforms into a giant shark. An element of improvisation makes each performance unique to its audience. Puppetry, shadows, illusion and especially composed music combine to create a show with something for all ages. Since 1995, Indefinite Articles have given 600 performances in ten different countries. Pinocchio has been performed at the National Theatre, The Little Angel, The Lowry and The Lyric Hammersmith, plus festivals in the USA, France, Hungary, Croatia, Mexico and Edinburgh. “Truly magical…captivating…hauntingly real” The Scotsman.

BEATS

Beats

“Tremendous piece of storytelling” Guardian BEATS is a coming-of-age story exploring rebellion, apathy and the irresistible power of gathered youth. With techno. Lots of techno. It tells the story of Johnno McCreadie, a teenager living in a small suburban Scottish town at the time of the 1994 Criminal Justice Act – a new piece of legislation which effectively outlawed raves, or “public gatherings around amplified music characterised by the emission of a succession of repetitive beats”.

“An outstanding show; clever, ruthless, compassionate and full of political insight. Takes the breath away” Scotsman

Following sell-out runs at Edinburgh’s Traverse Theatre and London’s Bush and Soho theatres, Kieran Hurley’s astonishing mix of intricate, well-observed storytelling and exhilarating music and visuals, breaks out on tour. Both nights, BEATS will be followed by a uniquely-customised Stick It On night in TOM’s Bar; the music is provided by YOU. Fri 22 & Sat 23 Nov | 8:30pm | £12.00 [10.00] | Curfew: 12.30am

What discoveries will they make on their travels? Will they get lost in a black hole? Why are ping pong balls flying around the room? Will they ever come back down to Earth? Spymonkey’s Love In

“Gloriously anarchic, constantly entertaining. Four of the greatest clowns working in Britain today.” The Times

Spymonkey turn cabaret on its head and deliver a non-stop list of outrageous favourites. You won’t believe you can laugh this much.

In the run-up to Christmas who doesn’t find themselves staring into an existential black hole asking ourselves “Oh sh**, is this it?”. Did you forget to say ‘I love you world’ this morning? Tony and Amanda, husband-and-wife founders of the global LOVE IN Organisation are here to help. With special instruction from Udo, Ober-Direktor of the Lachtherapieinstitut Austria, and Alfredo, sole proprietor of the ‘Love Inn’ Taverna, Gran Canaria (“We love to wink!”), they will guide you through a seminar of advanced seasonal LOVE IN techniques. Brighton-based but internationally renowned, Spymonkey have delighted audiences from Cirque du Soleil Las Vegas to Sydney Opera House and London’s West End with their hilarious, surreal and unpredictable brand of comedy theatre. This is a rare chance to catch the show that won the Latest Comedy Award at Brighton Festival 2011. “Spymonkey are very, very, very, very, very, very funny, and I’m not just saying that because I’m paid by the word. The Price of Everything [Daniel Bye]

“a thoughtful delight” Lyn Gardner, Guardian

Daniel Bye’s whistlestop tour of bizarre facts and impassioned arguments. How much is beauty worth? | What will people pay for an air guitar on eBay? | Can I have a glass of milk? These urgent questions and others are answered in The Price of Everything, a performance lecture about value. Daniel Bye’s whistlestop tour of bizarre facts and impassioned arguments is occasionally shambolic and often tendentious - but always a joy to watch. And you get a free glass of milk.
