My name is Tong Wang, and I am currently majoring in Digital Media Design for Learning DMDL as part of my master’s degree program at New York University. For the first time, I traveled to America and enrolled at Stony Brook University at age seventeen, majoring in journalism. After a few semesters, I felt journalism couldn’t help me develop my true passion for visual art, so I transferred to Parsons School of Design. In 2018 I completed my BFA in illustration and animation. For my senior thesis, I organized, produced, and curated an exhibition titled “[H]ours” at the Charles West Gallery in the West Village of Manhattan, which integrated art from my fellow graduating classmates. After graduation, I landed a position as a Global Creative Designer at Christian Louboutin Beauté, an international fashion house in their beauty and accessories division. My work contributions and designs are still being featured in 34 global stores, including locations in New York, London, Paris, Hong Kong, and Tokyo. My work at CLB aimed to unite and transcend cultural communities by merging fashion and art. I worked in partnership with the Creative Design Director in Paris and reported to the Global Director of Store Design & Visual Merchandising in New York. Despite my success, I’ve recognized and appreciated the opportunities to enhance my fine art and visual experience skills, which enriches my creativity and communication skills by continuing my education at NYU. In spring 2019, I started majoring in DMDL. I studied user experience design, user interaction design, instructional design, learning science, and cognitive science. I am learning how to apply cognitive science and learning science theories to design digital media such as Educational Application, Website, and Social Media to improve user experiences in multimedia learning environments. As an instructional designer, I have learned how to apply cognitive science theories to minimize the cognitive load for learners or users in multimedia learning environments. Meanwhile, I have also learned how to use the essential design principles, such as advanced organizers and the Dual Coding theory, to support
