Hello Everyone and welcome to the begging of the end of SUMMER!!!! It is entirely too wet and too hot out this time of the year. I am looking forward to football starting soon, August is at least some pre-season games, and of course the Full Throttle Staff does our fantasy football league, let the shit talking begin! August also brings the start of Back to School time for the kids and for the adults! Kids need school and I think parents need school for the kids also, LOL. We will be collecting school supplies the whole month of August for kids and for teachers, that’s right, teachers at our Wed. Bike Night at JOE’S CRAB SHACK. Teachers are GROSSLY under-paid and usually spend their own money to get their classrooms what they need every year. I have always helped my kid’s teachers with what they need each year for the students. Joe’s Crab Shack new Wednesday bike night is amazing! If you are looking for a new place to hang out and are tired of the norm, this is the place to be! $2.50 beers and a $20 all you can eat seafood buffet! Plus, they are extending their happy hour pricing on all food and drinks also on Wed. nights. This is a different kind of bike night as we pick three bikes of the night, then the votes are by cash donations in the buckets for each bike! We have a specific charity each month who benefits from the donations, then at the end of the month we hand them over all the cash we have collected at all the bike nights in one big donation! We will be doing this for 12 charities each year, of course one for each month. So far it has been about $160 each week in donations!!!! Besides that, we have custom hand made trophies for the bike of

8

the night winner, for our Biker Karaoke singers and for the group that shows up with the most amount of people each week. The custom hand made trophies are by J Sizzle Concepts. He has a great mind for trophies and sculptures and has a talent for welding! We are very excited here at Full Throttle Magazine to see this bike night very successful for all the vendors showing up and for Joe’s Crab Shack. They are very biker friendly and happy to have the new crowd every Wed. Night! See you at Joe’s! I am very lucky to be headed out to Sturgis again this year to host a bike show at the Buffalo Chip, in Deadwood and at the Full Throttle Saloon! It’s always an awesome time in Sturgis! I am not a huge camping person, but I do enjoy camping at the Buffalo Chip and all the concerts they host each year. Their main act again this year is Kid Rock and Eric Church! If you are looking for more info about these bike shows, there are ads in this month’s magazine! The Florida Motorcycle Expo & Bike Builder Invitational is coming along so well we have announced that we have extended the event for an extra day. The Expo will now be Thursday through Sunday at the new Bert’s Barracuda Property directly across the street from Quaker Steak and Lube! This property is almost 11 acres and is much bigger than our last venue. We will be giving away a Harley-Davidson on Sunday and you will need to be present to win! We will be announcing our NATIONAL ACTS and band line-up in the September issue of Full Throttle so stay tuned. This is the biggest Expo we have every planned here at Full Throttle and it’s going to be the best! Free admission, Free parking, $100 an hour give-a-way, tons of vendors and much more! For more info or to be a vendor or a sponsor call us at 727-9354875 or email me at tonyc@floridafullthrottle.com I hope everyone is having a great summer and I would like to wish everyone with a birthday is August a Happy birthday including our very own J SIZZLE, Happy Birthday and Happy Birthday to our Photographer Gamo Robles! Be safe, don’t drink and ride and I’ll see you soon.

Head and eyes, the friction zone, and the rear brake. Master those 3 techniques and even the smallest, lightest, person can handle the biggest, heaviest, motorcycle with ease. It takes little to no strength if you use the proper techniques. More good news. It doesn’t take months or years of hard work but just a few hours of enjoyable practice.

Things you should know, but probably don’t Here’s a few things you should know about riding a motorcycle that you probably don’t know. Even if you’ve been riding for many years. 1. When it comes to riding skillfully, your instincts are wrong. Your instincts tell you to look at the very thing you don’t want to hit. As an example, the more you focus on that car that pulled out in front of you, the better the chance you will run right into that car. Why? Because, your hands follow your eyes. If you look at it, you’ll steer right into it. Where should you be looking? At your escape path. This technique is called the proper use of your head and eyes. To perfect this technique, it takes training and practice. Perfecting the proper use of your head and eyes takes just a few hours. Not months or years. It’s best to learn this technique at low speeds since you will make mistakes while learning it, and it’s much safer to make mistakes at 10 mph than 60 mph. 2. You can not muscle around a 950 lb. motorcycle. It doesn’t matter how strong you are, it’s not going to happen. The good news is you don’t have to muscle around a 950 lb. motorcycle if you know how to use the 3 techniques I’m famous for teaching.

16

3. If you’re having problems riding a midsize bike, buying a full-size bike will only make your problems worse, not better. What do I mean by having problems? If you can’t make a U-turn within two lanes on your mid-size bike, that’s a problem. If you tend to drag your feet or duck-walk your bike at low speeds, that’s a problem. If you say to yourself, “I only have problems at low speeds, out on the road I’m fine.” Those words are in fact a problem. Why? Because it takes almost no skill to ride at speeds over 30 or 40 mph in a straight line. The faster you go, the more stable the bike becomes when going straight. Low speeds take skills, as does negotiating a winding road without running off that road. Even here in Florida, there are very few winding, curvy, roads, riders continue to run off those few winding, curvy, roads on a regular basis. If you want to enjoy riding much more than you already do, get some training. You’ll have a lot more fun, you’ll be safe, and you’ll be able to ride any bike, regardless of its weight or yours. Till next month, get out there and practice. You can sign up for my Ride Like a Pro class at www.ridelikeapro.com If you’re not in Florida, click on the TRAINING LOCATIONS from the home page, find a location near you, grab a friend, and sign up for a class. It just may save your life. Motorman Copyright 2018 Jerry “Motorman” Palladino www.ridelikeapro.com

Welcome to August. Maybe my favorite time of the year, but it’s not the sweltering humidity, unlimited chances for a downpour or unbearable heat that solidifies my love for August, it’s the release of the Navy Chief Petty Officer Results! Once a year, thousands of First Class Petty Officers across the fleet, nervously gather to take their respective advancement exams, then wait patiently for 5 months for the Board to convene, produce quotas, and finally, release the results to the Triad. Statistically speaking, only the top 10% of military members will ever reach the rank of E-7 or above. And what an achievement it is. I remember when my name was called, I was on deployment in the Persian Gulf, onboard the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN-69), as a part of Carrier Air Wing Seven (CVW-7). Being relatively new to the command, which was mainly staffed by 30 of the most capable Chiefs and Officers I had ever met, I had no idea what to expect when the Airwing Commander came in and told me I had made it. 1 of 1. The process, which has evolved over the years from Initiation to Induction to CPO 365 Phase II hasn’t really changed much, just the name. Learning to be a part of the “Mess” or “Goat Locker” is an eye-opening experience to say the least,

34

and I still have very fond memories of going through the process with my fellow brothers and sisters and get excited even thinking about the future of the Mess with our soon to be pinned Chief Petty Officers. My advice to you CPO Selectees… ENJOY THE PROCESS. It’s tough, it’s long, it’s demanding, but it is YOUR season. Every year at this time I break out my CPO Vessel and look back at the accomplishments and failures we shared together, as a team, and almost always find something new. Here are a few of the most common points: 1) Be the Chief. 2) You represent the CPO Mess now, do not “shoot from the hip”. 3) If you need help… ASK. 4) and finally, never forget where you came from. Cheers to all my Genuine CPO Brothers and Sisters out there (too many to name). NAVY CHIEF! NAVY PRIDE! The Veterans Crisis Line connects Veterans in crisis and their families and friends with qualified, caring Department of Veterans Affairs responders through a confidential toll-free hotline, online chat, or text. Veterans and their loved ones can call 1-800-273-8255 and Press 1, chat online, or send a text message to 838255 to receive confidential support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

WALL STREET RIDES Invest Smart | Ride Safe www.fromwallstreettomainstreet.com 754-MONEYAM This month we are going to talk about a few options that may help you derive meaningful income from your hardearned dollars while reducing risk, as well as ways to effectively position your money and optimize your interaction with Uncle Sam. I know a lot of people that love to ride, and most of the time, riders that have successful journeys make sure they have gas in their tank, provisions in their bags, and an understanding of the roads they are about to travel down. With retirement nearing for many in our biking community, it is increasingly vital that you carefully examine your financial gas tank, investment provisions bag, and your map for the financial road ahead. This means, understanding the income level you will need, how long you may need that income to last, and what challenging tax implications you could be facing in retirement? Have you ever wondered how your investments could generate income for life? Well, there are several investment vehicles that can provide you with income for life, but you may need a vehicle that also has the opportunity to grow your principal. Many of my clients are enjoying the benefits of increased income while still retaining the opportunity for principal growth. Speaking of retirement, some

of my clients have decided that they are now ready to sell their business and/or real estate assets (rental homes, apartment complexes, commercial buildings, etc.). We call this getting rid of the toilets, trash, and tenant obligations. In some cases, selling your real estate investment holdings could cost you as much as 35% in taxes, but I have been helping my clients with situations like this throughout my career. So, when it comes to selling your real estate or your business, contact us PRIOR TO the sale so we can explain your options and explore the possibility of never paying a dime in capital gains tax. This could help preserve your sales proceeds, remove your property management obligations, and capture an income level that may otherwise be greatly reduced. So, whether you are rolling over your retirement assets, selling your business, selling your real estate investments, or receiving a settlement from an accident, I will use my expertise and work diligently to make your principal work for you as hard for you as you worked for it. I take a helicopter approach to investing that includes every aspect of your financial house including your income, tax situation, and family legacy. With so many options out there, it is hard to determine how to get the most from your money without specialized advice. Call me, I can help. (754-MONEY-AM) HAPPY RIDING! Hey everybody. Hope everyone’s summer is treating them well. Well, as we all know by now, a new Wednesday night bike night has started over at Joe’s Crab Shack. Wow, just wow, what a good time. Joe’s has opened their arms to the biker community. Ali and Jeramiah are the managers there and are so much fun to work with. They both go out of their way to cater to the biker community like we have never seen. They have really put in the staff to handle the over whelming crowds. We would also like to extend a big thank you to the bikers who

40

followed us. It is really nice to see the following and support we have. We are just getting going at Joe's as well. We have so many big things planned for the bike nights. Some of the biggest bands in Florida along with a national act from time to time. Who does that for a bike night? We also raise money for a different charity each month to just give back. So many things to mention there is no way to even get to them all. Just stay tuned to the magazine to keep up. Keep it on your calendar. Every Wed night. Joes Crab Shack. Come out and experience the difference. Les Tolliver - Sales Manager and Event Organizer 727-534-4447 Les.FullThrottleMagazine@Gmail.com

Well Bikers, hope you are having a wonderful summer. July was a hot month as I got to spend a week in Las Vegas to recharge to old batteries. Now it’s time to turn our attention to Sturgis and the Black Hills Rally in Sturgis SD. To everyone going out there please ride safe and we will see you there. We will be camped out again this year at the famous Buffalo Chip where they have the biggest concerts anywhere in Sturgis. Also, Full Throttle Magazine has 3 of the biggest ride in bike show in

42

Sturgis. One at Buffalo Chip, One at Full Throttle Saloon and our newest ride in bike show in downtown Deadwood SD. So, make you plans to join us in Sturgis this year. Well, that’s about it from the Back Yard. Ride safe everyone and remember. Always Keep Your Stick on The Ice. MONGO.

those school zones and cause those big yellow buses are caring some precious cargo. Let's make this school year a good one, let’s cut down the number of accidents/incidents both pedestrian and vehicle. It's simple and easy goal to achieve ALL it takes is paying attention to your surroundings, putting your phones down while walking and driving, and most of all SLOW DOWN, leave earlier than normal and give yourself plenty of time. THAT'S ALL IT TAKES. Until Then, KEEP THE RUBBER ON THE ROADS, FLUFFY Call Me if you are interested in Advertising with Full Throttle, The #1 Motorcycle Magazine in the State of Florida. Well, it's been about 31 plus days since I last talked to you guys sooo how's everyone's summer going so far? It’s been a little warm and rainy for sure. No doubt about that. Yet we, ride and hopefully you've ridden to Joe's Crab Shack on Gulf to Bay for our new Wednesday Bike Night. What a great time. I think the coolest part for me is that I've been honored to make the trophies for this event. My trophy making skills have catapulted me to new endeavors. I will also be fabricating the 115 Anniversary trophy for Brandon H-D. I think they look pretty cool if I do say so myself. Let me know what you think. I would like to send out a thank you to Tony of Full Throttle and Marvin of Misfit Metals for putting my foot in the door. If you read this article I thank you, but make sure you look up above this to behold my ad. Yeah that's me. J-Sizzle0ut!!

I am a Tampa native, graduated from Florida State University with a Retail, Merchandising and Product Development degree. Go Noles! I joined the Team in 2014 as a merchandising intern at our Tallahassee location, from there I became a Motorclothes Buyer upon graduation. In 2015, I became the Retail Operations Manager for our dealer group, working closely with the General Merchandise Team to grow the business, and as of July 1, I am now the Marketing Director. I never dreamed I would be in this industry, but excited & grateful every day to work with my Harley-Davidson family. Just living my best life and looking forward to the new adventures ahead!

Maggie Snyder - Retail/Marketing Director Harley-Davidson of Tampa, Brandon, New Port Richey, Panama City Beach, Tallahassee and Beach Shack EMAIL - margaret.snyder@ferman.com I learned how to ride at age 9 starting in motocross, then moved to street bikes. I was a mechanic as a teenager and graduated from MMI. Moved to the Tampa Bay Area in the late 90s, worked at Jim’s Harley Davidson as a technician, learned fixed operations, and then worked in the after-market industry. Continued my career with the Harley-Davidson Florida group working at Harley Davidson of Tampa as service manager and learned fixed operations moving to sales and eventually becoming General Manager of HD of Tampa. I have now been given the opportunity to become General Manager of Brandon Harley-Davidson. I look forward to growing the Brandon HD family and serving our community. THREE TESTS A new guy in town walks into a bar and notices a large jar filled to the brim with $10 bills. The man approaches the bartender and asks, "What's up with the jar?" "Well, you pay $10, and if you pass three tests, then you get all the money." "What are the three tests?" asks the man "Gotta pay first." So the guy gives him the $10 bucks, and the bartender adds it to the jar. "OK, here's what you have to do. First, you have to drink that whole bottle of pepper tequila -- the WHOLE thing at once -- and you can't make a face while doing it. Second, there's a pit bull chained up out back with a sore tooth. You have to remove the tooth with your bare hands. Third, there is a 90-year-old woman upstairs who's never had an orgasm in her life. You gotta make things right for her." "Well, I know I've paid my $10 bucks," says the man, "but I'm not an idiot. No wonder you've collected so much money -- that's impossible!" The new guy proceeds to drink several whiskeys, and eventually, he gets up his nerve. "Wherez zat teeqeelah?" he slurs. He grabs the bottle of pepper tequila with both hands and downs it, gulp by gulp. Tears are streaming down his cheeks, but he doesn't make a face. Next, he staggers out back. Everyone in the bar hears a huge scuffle outside -- barking, yelping and growling, then silence. Just when they think the man must be dead, he staggers back into the bar with his shirt ripped and gashes across his body. "NOW," he says, "wherez at ol' lady with the sore tooth?" ***************** BEER BROTHERS A man walks into a bar and orders three beers. The bartender brings him the three beers, and the man proceeds to alternately sip one, then the other, then the third, until they're gone. He then orders three more and the bartender says, "Sir, I know you like them cold, so you can start with one, and I'll bring you a fresh one as soon as you're low." The man says, "You don't understand. I have two brothers, one in Australia and one in the Ireland. We made a vow to each other that every Saturday night, we'd still drink together. So right now, my brothers have three beers, too, and we're drinking together." The bartender thinks it's a wonderful tradition, and every week he sets up the guy's three beers. Then one week, the man comes in and orders only two. He drinks them and then orders two more. The bartender says sadly, "Knowing your tradition, I'd just like to just say that I'm sorry you've lost a brother." The man replies, "Oh, my brothers are fine -- I just quit drinking." ***************** HAPPY ANNIVERSARY The parent's three kids, all successful, agreed to a Sunday dinner in their parent's honor. "Happy Anniversary Mom and Dad," gushed Son No. 1. "Sorry I'm running late. I had an emergency at the hospital with a patient, you know how it is, and I didn't have time to get you a 60th anniversary gift." "Not to worry," said the father. "Important thing is we're all together today." Son No. 2 arrived. "You and Mom look great. Dad, I just drove in from North Texas to East Texas between depositions and didn't have time to shop for you." “It’s nothing," said the father. "We're blessed you were able to come to

58

help us celebrate our 60th anniversary." Just then the youngest child arrived. She said "Hello and happy anniversary! Sorry, but my boss is sending me out of town and I was really busy packing so I didn't have time to get you anything." After they had finished dessert, the father said, "There's something your mother and I have wanted to tell you for a long time. You see, we never finished high school. We were really poor, working several odd and low paying jobs, but we managed to send each of you to college." Through the years your mother and I knew we loved each other very much, but we just never found the time to get married." The three children gasped and said, "WTF? You mean we're bastards?" "Yep," said the father, "Cheap ones, too.... ***************** PERFECT TEE SHOT A guy stands over his tee shot for what seems an eternity: looking up, looking down, measuring the distance, figuring the wind direction and speed. Finally his exasperated partner says, "What's taking so long? Hit the damn ball!" The guy answers, "My wife is up there watching me from the clubhouse. I want to make this a perfect shot." "Forget it, man," says his partner. "You'll never hit her from here." ***************** LITTLE JOHNNY'S "BOOKISH" FATHER Little Johnny was in class and the teacher announced that they were going to try something different to help everyone get to know each other a little better, and to help with their spelling. She explained, "I want you to stand up and give us the occupation of your father, spell it, and say one thing he would give us all if he was here today." The first student raised her hand to volunteer. "Marcy," the teacher said. "You may go first." Marcy replied, "My father is a banker. B-A-NK-E-R and if he was here today, he would give us all a shiny new penny." The teacher said, "Very nice, Marcy, who wants to go next?" Kevin stood up and announced, "My father is a baker. B-A-K-ER and if he was here today, he would give us all a freshly-baked cookie." "Very good," the teacher told Kevin. Jeff was next, and he said, "My father is an accountant. A-K, no wait, A-C-K, no..." Before he could attempt to spell it once more, the teacher cut him off and told him to sit back down and to think about it for a while. When he thought he knew how to spell it, he could stand back up and try again. Little Johnny raised his hand in excitement hoping to be acknowledged by the teacher. The teacher called on little Johnny to go next. Johnny said, "My father is a bookie. B-O-O-K-I-E and if he was here today, he would give us all 20:1 odds Jeff will never be able to spell "accountant." ***************** SEX ED At school one day, the teacher was trying to approach the topic of sex education and asked her students if they'd ever seen anything that was related to sex education on TV. Mary raised her hand and said she had seen a movie about women having babies. “Great,” said the teacher, “that's very important. ” Then Judy raised her hand and told the teacher she had seen a TV show about people getting married. “Well, that has to do with it too,” said the teacher. Then Johnny raised his hand and said he had seen a western where some Indians came riding over the hill and John Wayne shot them all. The teacher said, “Well, Johnny, that really doesn't have anything to do with sex education.” “Yes it does,” said Johnny, ” it taught those Indians not to f**k with John Wayne.”

Hello from The Florida Keys! We made it through another sweltering month of subtropical temperatures, but we have hotter days still ahead. A lot of great things popped off down here in July to include a beautiful fireworks show celebrating our Nation’s Independence as well as the World Famous Hemingway Days Festival that was capped off by the Earnest Hemingway Lookalike Contest. Held on the 119th birthday of the famed author the contest drew in 151 entrants from as far as Norway and Australia. This years winner was announced at Sloppy Joes, a favorite haunt of Hemingway during his Key West years. The winner was Michael Groover, husband of celebrity chef Paula Deen. On our way back south from our Keys run this month we stopped at a great little restaurant in Islamorada called MEAT! Yup, you read that right, MEAT as in all capital letters. You can guess what the primary menu item is. I had a meal called Pig on a Cow. Thats a 5 oz beef patty topped with a 5 oz chorizo patty! It was insane! If you find yourself there ask for Shelby. She was our server and she is a hoot! Once we made it back down to Key West we hung out as always at The Greenroom with Mel-T and a few more colorful bartenders from local watering holes. We were on Duval just in time to catch the Corsa America Car Rally. It was loaded with

82

Lambos, Ferraris, Audis, and many others making beautiful noise with their engines as they moved down the line. August is loaded with even more fun for the Florida Keys. The Powerboat P-1 Islamorada Grand Prix is on the 17th and 18th. This race features a tight and fast course where these bad ass boats will compete at over 70 mph. That's darn fast on the water! This adrenaline filled excitement is sponsored by Mercury Sports and is a good time for any motor head. August 31st-Sep 2 is the Heroes Salute Weekend at Hawks Cay in Marathon, a weekend of events, fireworks and a 5k run/walk. This event is put on to show appreciation for all current and past military, law enforcement, fire and rescue and emergency medical personnel. The same weekend is The Key West Brewfest with more than 200 beers and micro brews on tap. Proceeds benefit The Sunrise Rotary Club of the Conch Republic. Last but certainly not least is the 25th Annual Battle of the Bars at Schooners Wharf where 7 local bars perform hilarious tasks that test their skills in mixology, serving and of course drinking! As always, Christy and I would love to see you down at any Florida Keys event. There is something for everyone at any given time down our little 120 mile stretch of highway. We will leave you with this quote which seems appropriate, “There are only three sports. Bullfighting, motor racing and mountaineering. All the rest are merely games” - Earnest Hemingway If you want to advertise with us please call 305-509-0961 or email buddyleeftmag@gmail.com

July was a very successful month and I hope everyone had a great Fourth of July and got a chance to thank a veteran! Bike Night at Tallahassee was a success, even though mother nature had other plans, the band was 100 proof, who played a lot of golden oldies. Their Annual tent sale was a great success with Gary Bang and Maggie Snyder from Tampa HD, along with Candy the Finance Specialist from Panama City Beach HD coming to town to help out. They really did a great job of keeping the bell ringing throughout the event. With plenty of food and drink available, it was a great time. I was out there on Saturday and with its success they decided to extend it through the end of July. Moving along to August: Tallahas-

see Harley-Davidson is having a Defenders Fundraiser on the 11th, along with my 78th birthday, with a backpack and school supply drive. The 16th is Bike Night with music by Free Wheeling, a skill riding demo by Razor Performance, vendors and Full Throttle Magazine. The 19th will bring a “Fun, Food and Family Day Event, and as always, the Harley Girls will be out there Every Sunday. Hailey, Brittany and Sonja. See everyone next month, and ride safe no matter what you ride! Keelhauler
