THE HISTORY & FUTURE OF FULL THROTTLE MAGAZINE & MULTI-MEDIA
ON THE COVER
PINELLAS POWER SPORTS

This month marks a major change in my family. Sixteen years ago Tracy and I saw a need for a motorcycle oriented magazine and started Full Throttle. I have published numerous magazines for the past 26 years but none of them have been as rewarding as Full Throttle. This magazine changed our lives … it altered the way we spent our weekends … it changed the way we took vacations … it helped numerous people who needed assistance after an accident, tropical storm, sickness or national catastrophe … it created new friendships … it helped many businesses get new customers and it grew into the largest motorcycle publication in the State of Florida. Full Throttle is more than just a monthly publication; it is a lifestyle and a way of life. We have become a “bible” for the community letting people know where to ride, what events to attend and what type of bike to purchase. The events we created have helped children at both St. Joseph’s and All Children’s Hospitals, we have done so many benefits they can’t be counted and we have started many runs that are now celebrating over ten years of existence (Sore Ass Run, 5 Bridge Run, our Anniversary Party, Christmas Toy Run and the Christmas in July Toy Run to name a few). We have also created two of the biggest events that occur in the Tampa Bay area with our annual Motorcycle Expo and Bike Builder Invitational that takes place every January and Freedom Fest that happens every Memorial Day weekend in Oldsmar, FL. Full Throttle has affected thousands of people’s lives and we are proud of what we have accomplished. That said, I am happy to announce that my son Tony has purchased the magazine and will continue to do all the great things we have done in the past. Tony has been the editor for the past 6+ years and knows everything there is to know about running the magazine. He has been a fixture at local events and I’m sure you’ve seen him at Quaker Steak & Lube every Wednesday night! Tracy and I will still be available and will help out at all major events. Of course I will also consult in any way possible and always be there for my son. It is a bittersweet moment for Tracy and I as Full Throttle has been “our baby” for the past 16 years. However, I know it’s time for Tony to “take the reins” and bring Full Throttle into the next generation. He has all ready started via the FullThrottleVision webcast, the weekly email blasts and our new app. I want to sincerely thank everybody who has supported Full Throttle for the past 16 years. I will miss the day-to-day happenings and I will miss planning the events. I know that Tony will do a great job and I know he is the perfect man for the job. Please continue supporting the magazine. We can stay a free publication via ad sales. We work for you! Thanks everybody … it’s been a blast !!!

With all our fundraising activities and the biker build off, our Director Robin Williams, promised the group that March was going to be designated as a “fun month”. We had our National’s meeting in February and proceeds from last year’s raffle & some other ‘turn of events’ Nationals provided the Tampa Bay Chapter with a LOT of money to donate to some charities of our choice. We chose to provide “Pedicures for Horses” and donated a large sum to Ohana Horse Rescue for farrier service to all the 28 rescue horses they have on their property. Carrie Young does such a wonderful job rescuing horses that are abandoned, abused, and starving on a shoestring budget. Many times they have to decide what to do with the little funds they have available. The other ‘pet’ charity we are helping out is one of our own Diva Sister Gina Shield’s charity, ‘Senior Pet Connection’ we are having a dog/cat food collection at Quaker Steak & Lube as well as at our diva table. We also held a Diva Spring Fling in March as a Thank You for our sponsors who help us impact other’s with their assistance. We had the DJ T-Bone (djtbone65@hotmail.com) come and provide music, good time was had by all.

Spring has sprung and it is riding season, First thing that comes to mind is Motorcycle Safety… check and tighten your bolts, belts, levers and perform all your safety inspections before you get out on that long journey and ride…. When riding in a group or solo, do you have an emergency plan? Even if your bike is ready to roll, with new tires, and everything is perfect and checks out, does not mean you are trouble free. Sitting on the side of the road broken down, is not the time to ‘reflect’ on items missing from your emergency road kit. If you have AAA, you can add Road Side Assistance “motorcycle towing” for a very small annual fee and have total “peace of mind”. The Tampa Bay Chapter meets every 2nd Tuesday, 7:00pm at Quaker Steak & Lube in Clearwater (5:30-7 social meet & greet). Check http://tampabaydivaangels.com to view our chapter news. We welcome all guests to attend our rides, but only ladies are allowed to be members. Come Ride with Us!

Well the writing was on the wall as they say. With Editor Tony Cianci buying Full Throttle Magazine from Publisher Paul Cianci, I think it is fair to say Full Throttle Magazine is entering a new season. When I first considered which magazine I wanted to be associated with as a Feature Columnist, I applied the same professional background and experience I gained building a business from ~$2Mll to ~$9Mll. I looked at history, content and image, and then last but certainly not least “performance”. I literally went to strategic locations from Tampa to Ft Myers to Ft Lauderdale and Daytona where the magazine was distributed and asked unsuspecting staff at each location: “What magazine gets picked first? Which magazine do you run out of first and when?”. Every single time I was told Full Throttle Magazine was picked-up first before any other within a couple weeks after publication. Evidently, Full Throttle Magazine was the leader in their domain and if I was going to associate myself with anyone, I wanted to make sure they were in the lead. My next action item on the agenda: “Who is behind Full Throttle Magazine and would I be ok collaborating with them?” Like it or not, Paul Cianci and his lovely wife Tracy Allen had a vision back in 1995 which changed the communication landscape within the biker community forever. I would confidently state their vision literally helped hundreds of businesses and bikers in more ways than we can recall. Not only this but I will boldly say they inspired many to a point where their vision was copied and to this day still offered in other magazine formats. What a compliment!! I mean this is back in the days when internet was pretty much still at an embryonic stage. Back when if you wanted to know when, where and who was going to be at which event, the community billboard was your only source of info! The first Issue back in November 1995 was almost a disaster Paul admitted, he included raunchy personals in the publication and that really backfired on him. “Boy was I taught a lesson! The demographics of bikers back then was
rapidly changing. Bikers were no longer your stereotypical filthy characters. Bikers were now bankers, lawyers doctors and other professionals". These demographics had no time for inappropriate material and Paul quickly adjusted his aim. His first client was Fletcher’s Harley Davidson in Clearwater Florida. They got a full page ad and traded out a leather jacket as payment. Full throttle Magazine’s first event under Paul’s leadership was a Suncoast Brotherhood Christmas Ride which started in the Wal-Mart parking lot of US Hwy 19 in Clearwater Florida. Paul took pictures and published the event in the magazine. It was such a success that folks started coming to him asking to contribute. Mr. Harold D. Jock aka “Gypsy” was the magazine’s first sales representative. Gypsy related to the bikers and came to know an impressive amount of success. “Gypsy taught me and Tracy so much” Paul said. Sadly, Gypsy passed 8 years ago. RIP. Those “baby steps” caused a domino effect of events ranging from a “Super Bowl Run” in 1996 with 250+ bikers to the first 200 mile “Sore Ass Run” and countless others. Today we have Freedom Fest during Memorial Day weekend said to bring an estimated 20,000 attendees. The annual Invitational Bike Build-Off Expo which is also said to bring an estimated 30,000 attendees with an impressive list of high profile corporate sponsors. Full Throttle Magazine also helped to start as contributing members of the organizing committees of bike events in Zephyrhills, Cotee River, Ybor City and West Coast Rally. Also worth mentioning are the many sporting events including bike shows with the Dunedin Blue Jays, the Clearwater Threshers, Tampa Bay Rays, the Tampa Bay Storm, the Tampa Bay Lightning and the Orlando Magic from the NBA. Then came the Feature Writers Paul said with a smirk “who helped put us on the map”. “Arby” (who was a New Port
Richey police officer) was a hard core / old school biker who ruffled a few feathers calling on businesses and others “telling it the way he saw it”. He hated Bike Week because of how bikers were [and still are] taken advantage of. “Readers could not wait to read what he would be bitching about month after month.” Arby was followed by people like Craven Morehead, Dr. Donna, Motorman and more recently "Night Train" and "Mr. 500" who moved Full Throttle Magazine into a different dimension”. Then there were folks behind the scene who Paul emotionally recognizes became pillars of the magazine; “Big Al” our photog, “Three Finger Charley”, “Dew”, "Beth", "PeeWee", “Rusty” (RIP), “Pop” and of course Tony. Full Throttle Magazine had a delegation of representatives ship their bikes to Sturgis back in 1999 for a ride. In that ride, Full Throttle Magazine was asked to join a meeting between two notorious MCs to cover a peace treaty between both clubs. As of 2001 the Full Throttle Magazine vision soon took birth in various states such as Louisiana, Virginia, California, New England, Washington, Oregon and Texas. 2002 brought Alabama, Ohio, Minesota and New York/Long Island into the fold as well. If one compared the combined monthly publication of the Full Throttle family of magazines, one would find the numbers far exceeding those of a large majority of national motorcycles publications! National advertisers should take heed here. In 2004 the National Coalition Of Motorcycles, an organization focused on keeping the peace in the bikers world by getting the clubs together to discuss laws, rights and regulations, awarded Full Throttle Magazine with the “Golden Spoke Award” in the Media Category in “Appreciation for Improving the Image of Motorcycling”. Other recipients of this award include state senators, movie actors and influential motorcycle business owners. Another milestone for the magazine was “Business Of The Year” award by the Upper Tampa Bay Chamber of Commerce in 2010. An influential factor was the inception of the “Holiday Sharing Fund” which is a full fledge 501 (c) (3) organization backed by the City of Oldsmar and the Chamber. The magazine helped raise hundreds of thousands of dollars for downed bikers, children, hurricane victims and other worthy causes such as the Christmas “Teddy Bear Toy Run” and “Christmas In July Toy Run”. “Our “9-11 Run” after Bin Ladden’s attack still remains the biggest run in Tampa Bay history. Full Throttle also played a huge part in helping the Police Benovelent Association raise over $700,000.00 for downed police officers during our 2011 Expo. Among a multitude of advertisers and partners, Paul insists on expressing his gratitude towards Fletcher's Harley
Davidson, Jim’s Harley Davidson, Tampa Harley Davidson, and Orlando Harley-Davidson. Other major contributors include: Geico, Quaker Steak & Lube, Motorcycle Trailer Rental, Bayou Motorcycle Repair, Hi-Tech Cycles, Attitude Custom Painting and Webster Cycle & Swap Meet. The biggest friend and supporter was Attorney Fran Haasch who made her debut by partnering with Full Throttle and whom without her the community [be it bikers or not] could not possibly be as dynamic. Now with Tony at the helm, Paul says the vision can only progress. Looking at his track record and the team he has built. Tony really strengthened the magazine’s presence in the community by bringing technology on our side with Full Throttle Vision Webcast, a Facebook fan base now in excess of 10,000, weekly mailings, Twitter etc… Paul, the team and myself are totally enthused at the prospect of Tony taking the magazine to higher levels, raising the bar and increasing the heat! As I finished my conversation with Paul, “You're gonna miss it aren’t you?” I asked. Standing outside after our lunch, Paul looks at me straight and becomes silently pensive. I knew I hit a nerve. Smiling at me and responding with his trademark tone of voice “Oh yeah I will! A great deal. More than I think I will actually! It’s the people and being involved in their lives and their causes as well as seeing the positive impact.” In conclusion, as a business man with 20+ years successful corporate experience I will say one thing; Florida Full Throttle was there first with a direct line of communication in the biker community. A live-wire with sensors on the very pulse of our landscape reaching far more accurately than other good quality and well-meaning publications which in my view continue to simply mirror Full Throttle’s original vision. So long my good friends Paul and Tracy. Thank you for the Full Throttle legacy. For the opportunity to be part of the winning team. We have had ups and downs but the true test of quality relationships is time. Now on with Tony Cianci as our leader. Look-out for a large Full Throttle party to celebrate this milestone. I call Dr. Amar Patel my miracle doctor. I was in an auto accident in February. I am awaiting surgery on my back and neck. I have 2 appointments a week and I credit his care for my ability to walk. If you are seeking Palm Harbor chiropractic care then you have come to the right place. At the Palm Harbor Spine Center we strive to provide you with exceptional care in a friendly and relaxing environment. Our staff is dedicated the well being of every patient, and we strive to treat each patient as an individual. We also have offices in New Port Richey and Holiday, FL. What sets us apart is that we have two specialties in our office for your convenience. In addition to Dr. Amar Patel, there is a medical doctor-Dr. Sadhana Shah, who has been treating Floridians for over 20 years. Both have experience in treating auto accident patients. Chiropractors emphasize the treatment of spinal conditions since correct spinal alignment can affect the proper function of other bodily areas and systems. Additionally, they can provide proper nutritional advice to augment recovery. Some chiropractors specialize in the treatment of other musculoskeletal conditions, such as those involving sports injuries. The main method of treatment used is called adjustment. It is a specialized, controlled and safe pressure applied to your spine. An adjustment restores the proper motion and position of your vertebrae. Please feel free to contact us, we promise to do everything we can to help. Amar Patel 727 479-8802 By: Tatto'd Carole

Greeting bikers.. Well, we made it back from Daytona Bike Week safe and sound. Now that we are back in the yard it's time to look back at a wild month. I spent most of Daytona on Main Street as co-emcee of the famous Boot Hill Saloon. We had great bands and huge crowds all week. Main Street rumbled all week with bikes of all different shapes and styles. But the hot night at Boot Hill Saloon was Thursday night with the ladies of Florida's Finest in town for the Miss Boot Hill Bikini Contest. 11 of the hottest ladies in Florida
40
competed for the title of Miss Boot Hill 2013. Every girl in the contest was a 10, But when all the judges votes was counted out winner was Miss Nikki Rae from Orlando, FL. who is also our Miss Full Throttle Magazine for 2013! Be sure and check out Full Throttle Magazine for a loaded month of April ending up at Leesburg Bikefest. Ride safe bikers.. Charlie
I am a military granddaughter, daughter, wife, mother and mother-in-law! I bleed green! Our troops fight for our freedom on a daily basis. In the past few years, organizations are surfacing to help our troops, spouses and dependants with separation and post deployment issues. I’m spotlighting different organizations for a couple months, this being the first. Camp C.O.P.E was co-founded by Elizabeth Reep after realizing there were thousands of kids like her step-sons that needed help dealing with their solider parent’s deployment and war injuries. Since 2005, she has helped kids cope with their emotions and realize they are not alone. They may not be on the
battlefield but they make an enormous sacrifice for their country. People tell military children that their parent is a hero but kids don’t always see it like that. Sure they are proud, but also mad that Mom or Dad isn’t at their soccer game. The curriculum through crafts games and small group activities teach kids how to express and manage emotions. It offers a chance to bond with peers in similar circumstances. Camp C.O.P.E. stands for COURAGE, OPTIMISM, PATIENCE, and ENCOURAGEMENT. Check this out at campcope.org

In my years with Full Throttle I have met so many people! Some of them stand out more than others. One I met years ago was a great looking blonde, after talking with her I realized she was very smart as well as a great sense of humor she is the attorney Fran Haasch. She was with two other girls may be friends or staff but that was her office help I saw her at our build off at Quaker Steak and Lube and I asked her how many attorneys and staff she had in her employment now, she was quick to answer 30 at present. With that I know she is doing things right I talk to a lot of people and no one has had a bad thing to say about her. When I see her I always get a hug. Have you hugged your attorney or do you want to? Sorry Mr Morgan, Fran is a great lady! She took our editor, Tony, to the Playboy Mansion for a vacation! Wasn’t

Have you ever heard the term, you snooze you loose? If you didn't make it out to Ormond Beach during Daytona Bike Week you definitely lost out on some good times! Whether you were checking out Patch snatching dollar bills out of your hand while riding the wall of death or checking out the tunes at the Boot Hill Bar, there was plenty to see and do in Ormond Beach. If you were there, you just might see yourself on the Discovery Channel because they were filming on location about v-8 bikes and trikes and the people that pilot them. They were also interviewing the crowd about the whole experience of bike week. Watch for it on the Discovery Channel! Strip Club Choppers was there with a nice selection of bikes, and plenty of eye candy to pose for your viewing pleasure. There were plenty of vendors to keep you well fed and hydrated, a dyno and mechanic to tune or fix, and Full Throttle Magazine was right in the middle of it all. While there, we witnessed

the unveiling of Star Motorcycles new bike called the, "Bolt". It's a nice effort on Yamahas part to appeal to the ladies and the younger crowd of todays riders. HEY, I'm your new rep for MANATEE/ SARASOTA counties. Yes, you already got my card, but here's a little something about myself: I had a "thing" for Harley Davidson motorcycles since I was a teenager. Ok, let's be honest - I LOVED HD! For my 50th b-day, my husband, Eddie, and I learned to ride at Brandon HD. I didn't waste any time; I got myself a SuperLow Sportster 2007 the very next day. A few months later we added a 2006 FatBoy to join the riding pleasure. Eddie has a 2010 Chopper. I always thought bikers were cool because they wore leather. Little did I know that they wore that as protective clothing! OK...blonde is my natural hair color). That is one of the many things I found out in taking the Rider's Edge Course besides learning how to ride. We went to Bikeweek in Daytona... one word to describe all the excitement: WOW!!! It was truly amazing. We saw some of the most outrageous (in a good way) bikes. If you didn't get a chance to go, there's always Biketoberfest in October.
I never knew there were so many motorcycle shops in Bradenton/Sarasota! I had the pleasure of finding out! I visited these shops: - ACTION KAWASAKI YAMAHA - THE BIKE SHOP (everything for your bike) - C & C CUSTOM MOTORCYCLES - DAYTON PERFORMANCE PRODUCTS - DYNOWORKS - GRANNY'S MOTORSPORTS (very cool bikes) - GUY FORCE CYCLE - HAP'S CYCLE SALES - HOB NOB (RESTAURANT) - LIGHT UP YOUR BIKE (hosting a "LIGHT" Night - date yet to be determined) - MANATEE RIVER HARLEY-DAVIDSON - P-MAN'S CLASSIC CYCLE PAINT (excellent paint shop!) - POPI'S PLACE TOO - POPI'S PLACE III - POPI'S PLACE IV - POPI'S PLACE VI - PEGGY'S CORRAL (LANDMARK BIKER BAR) - PRECISION CYCLE - RANDY'S CYCLE SALES - REKO'S BRITISH RESTORATIONS & REPAIRS - ROARING TOYZ (very cool bikes!) - ROSSITER'S HARLEY-DAVIDSON - TOTAL MOTORSPORTS - TWISTED LIQUID (event in April)
I'm very excited to be representing Full Throttle! Til Next issue...Nancy Palacios

A man and his wife moved back home to Louisiana from Arizona . The wife had a wooden leg and to insure it in Arizona was $2,000.00 a year!!! When they arrived in Louisiana , they went to an Insurance agency to see how much it would cost to insure the wooden leg. The agent looked it up on the computer and said to the couple, “$39.00.” The husband was shocked and asked why it was so cheap here in Louisiana to insure, because it cost him $2,000.00 in Arizona!!! The agent turned his computer screen to the couple and said, “Well, here it is on the screen. it says: Any wooden structure, with a sprinkler system over it, is $39.00.” **************************************** Don’t mess with seniors. A senior was sick and in the hospital. There was one nurse that just drove me crazy. Every time she came in, she would talk to him like he was a little child. She would say in a patronizing tone of voice, ‘And how are we doing this morning?’ or ‘Are we ready for a bath?’, or ‘Are we hungry?’ The senior had enough of this particular nurse. One day, at breakfast, he took the apple juice off the tray and put it in his bed side stand. Later, he was given a urine bottle to fill for testing. So you know where the juice went ! The nurse came in a little later, picked up the urine bottle and looked at it. “My, it seems we are a little cloudy today. ‘ He snatched the bottle out of her hand, popped off the top, and drank it down, saying, ‘Well, I’ll run it through again. Maybe I can filter it better this time.’ The nurse fainted...Don’t mess with seniors!

Full Throttle Magazine was all over the place this year at Bike Week. Charlie Humphries and Georgia Boy were mainly found at Boothill Saloon on Main Street where we had a permanent tent for the 10 days! We also had a booth set up at the Cabbage Patch for a few bike shows with Radical Randy! We could also be found at the Boardwalk Bike Show and the World Famous Rat's Hole Bike Show. The crowds seemed to be way up from the past few years and we noticed a sizeable amount of people from outside Florida and outside the US. We would like to thank Boothill Saloon who let's us set up out booth and stream LIVE all 10 days of bike week from their location. Charlie had a great time emceeing a few events there including the Miss Boothill Saloon. We can't post all of our great pictures we took in the magazine, so please go online and see our pictures on our facebook page! Thanks to all our sponsors including the Holiday Inn Resort and Econo Lodge for the great rooms! Tony C.

There was a great turn out with around 130 bikes for the Annual Bike Week Boardwalk Bike Show. Bikes showed up from all over the world to compete in this year's show. Special Thanks to Fran M. Haasch who sponsored the trophies for this great event. Bill Chaffin and his entire crew do a wonderful job signing everyone in, getting the bikes places on the boardwalk and judging the show. Congrats to all the winners!
