Hello Friends and Family, And I do truly mean that…friends and family. I have met so many great people, amazing people, of all walks of life, as the owner of Jim’s Harley-Davidson. I have been drawn to motorcycles since I was very young. I started out riding motorcycles with my uncle, many of you know as unc, very early on in life. My late husband Jim started off riding an Indian Scout at age 14 where I was lucky to have a scooter, with a lawn mower engine. So you could say, motorcycling was in our blood. They are a real joy for me and that was part of how Jim and I got into the business. Owing a Harley-Davidson dealership has been a wild and exciting ride for me. Jim and I started Jim’s Harley Davidson in 1979. I continued operating the dealership after his unexpected passing in 1988. It has been a difficult road with many challenges but you, all of you, have made it more than worthwhile. I love meeting new people and developing relationships with them. I love watching someone get their first Harley and riding off on it. I love seeing how these machines can make for truly life changing experiences. And I’ve loved every minute of it. But, I guess there comes a time when all dreams come to an end. It is with great sorrow and excitement that I am retiring from Jim’s Harley-Davidson to start my next chapter in life. I am 73 and while I still can, I want to do some traveling and maybe sleep in sometimes if my doggies will allow it. I will still be around for events and will see many of you. Please don’t hesitate to say hello and share your experience. I am happy to know that I have been able to provide such great memories for all of you. Although my tenure as the lead motorcycle momma is coming to an end, my love for the people I have met, motorcycling, and Harley-Davidson will always continue. Now wipe that surprised look off your face, get off your ass and get riding!

We are working on sponsorships as that is the major reason we are able to keep this a FREE event for the biker community. We are also planning on bringing in a major band on Saturday night. I would like to wish my son, Tyler, a very special happy 16th birthday on Aug 17th and be sure to watch for children as they are going back to school this month! Be safe and be smart, don’t drink and ride and I’ll see you soon! STRAWBERRIES!!!!

Motorman’s Tips, Tricks and Techniques

If you frequent any of the motorcycle forums on the internet, you can find some useful information, especially the brand and model specific forums. If you’re having an oil leak in which you can’t discover the source of, chances are someone else had the same problem and the forum will point you in the right direction. For instance, I had an oil leak on my 2012 Electra Glide that appeared to be coming from the oil drain plug. I tightened the plug a bit, but the next day there were still several drops of oil on the floor and the drain plug was still wet. This time, I changed the oil and put a new O ring on the plug but the next day, you guessed it, more oil on the floor. I went to an HD Forum and found the answer. The oil was from the transmission. Since the bike sits on an angle when on the kickstand, the oil was creeping across the pan and onto the oil drain plug. I tightened the Allen bolt and the problem was solved. The problem I’ve found on the forums is when someone asks for riding tips. When that happens, the “experienced expert riders” come out of the woodwork. Most of the time, the tips from the so called “experienced” riders are either completely wrong or kind of wrong. Things like, “never use the front brake, it will put you over the handlebars, or, if a car pulls out in front of you and you think you can’t stop, just lay the bike down”. Believe it or not, ignorant statement like that are still out there. I recently read an answer on how to control your bike easier at low speeds. The writer suggested using the rear brake to control your low speed turning. Granted, this is partly true, but certainly, there’s a lot more to it. The correct way to control your bike when making low speed turns is by using the friction zone of the clutch along with the throttle and a little rear brake pressure. The idea is to better control the amount of power going to the rear wheel. If the clutch is fully engaged and you put pressure on the rear brake to control your speed, on a Harley, you’re probably going to stall the bike and fall over. Granted, there are some bikes where this can be done without stalling, a Victory comes to mind, but, you are putting a lot of wear on the clutch plates and the rear brake. It’s much better to use the friction zone, in other words, slip the clutch a bit and put a little pressure on the rear brake. With a little practice and combine with the proper use of head and eyes, you can be in complete control of your bike at low speeds and almost never have to duck walk the bike around like an amateur. Keep in mind, the bike’s speed should be controlled with the clutch and throttle, not the rear brake. In fact, with a little more practice, you can just about eliminate the rear brake and just use the clutch and throttle. Give it a try sometime. Believe me, it will keep you from dropping your bike and feeling like a fool at your local bike night. For much more detailed instructions on low speed handling, check out my NEW Ride Like a Pro DVD at my website, www.ridelikeapro.com Till next month, get out there and practice. FROM WALL STREET TO MAIN STREET

Wall Street Rides, LLC/Michelle Osborne www.wallstreetrides.com 844‐44WSRIDES This month I wanted to talk about something important to all of us. What happens if you get hurt in an accident and you file a claim with your insurance company or the other parties’ insurance company and do win compensation through the help of proper legal counsel? Most people are compensated in some way, but they don’t know what to do with the money after they are compensated and their case is won or settled. With so many options, education is the key. It has been my experience that when people come in to money, it can also be a burden. I know that sounds strange but think about it. What happens to most lottery winners? They are broke in 3 years. When the attorney hands you the check that they worked hard to compensate you for any injury, it is more important than ever to seek professional advice. It is critical that you think about what you do next. Your friends and family suddenly become advisors or your new best friend and you are not sure as to what to do next. Banks, advisors and others come out of the wood work and before you know it you are confused on the options you are facing. There are so many ways to safeguard your money. Protect yourself and your family with vehicles that are creditor protected and can give you a reasonable rate of return without enormous risk. Come in and let us teach you

ALL of your op-

26

tions. Knowledge is power when it comes to your money and your future. Other issues to consider are what if you cannot do the same job you are doing now after an injury or worse yet you might have an injury that causes you problems later in life. That requires proper planning. Why not safeguard the original investment and either derive income from it now and safeguard the principal or invest it for the future to grow. That is why when you consult with our firm, we review everything in your financial situation with you and give you the proper planning you deserve by teaching you all of your options and looking at your situation from a helicopter point of view. Don’t cash the check until you have sought professional help. Don’t pay off the mortgage, the truck or lose the money to creditors, before you talk to an experienced advisor that has seen just about everything imaginable in these types of situations. Put your money to work for YOU. So many times people are emotional tied to their decisions and either doesn’t properly plan for the future or think about possible medical bills or other life events that could occur later on down the road. We can help you plan that future. There is a big world out there when it comes to investing your future and you need to know ALL of your options. Don’t be a statistic. Let us help you plan your future and be the first call you make after the settlement for any injury case is completed. Hi All.....I am still here in Sharon, PA after the 3 day PennOhio Biker Expo. Friday was set up and geez the weather was not nice to us or the vendors - it rained like there was no tomorrow. BUT, when it cleared up and the event kicked off at 5 and ended the evening with a hometown band called Mississippi Gun Club. Saturday was HOT!! The locals told us it was the hottest day in over 10 years. There were the Micro Champion Wrestlers and they put on a fun show - if you are going to be at Sturgis you can catch their show at the Full Throttle Saloon. There was a successful bike show where a local painter/artist had 5 of his customers bikes in the show and 4 of them won! The portraits that guy paints are amazing - one of the best I have seen! The evening topped off with Buckcherry. Sunday was another day of the MCW show, a smaller bike show and Jasmine Cain who played to a much smaller crowd because it rained again!!! Unfortunately due to the weather the event ended earlier then planned but overall it was a successful weekend. Anne & I are not going home like the rest of the crew, we are taking a small vacation and going over to Michigan where I was born and lived the first 12 years of my life. During the rest of July, Tony and a few guys went to the Tampa Bay Rays game while Charlie, Georgia, Anne & I went to the Yard of Ale. Yard of Ale had a live band, gave away 3 raffle baskets, there were 3 Bikes of the Night and the rain was good to us and stayed away. They are starting up their bike nights again on the 3rd Friday of the month. Come on out to the next one Friday August 19th. I also want to wish Brettman a happy 19th birthday! Happy birthday to my lovely girlfriend Anne. Till next time live life to the fullest and party your a$$ off!! Dew

I’VE FOUND IT! The absolute PERFECT place to ride, out in the country…awesome back roads to get there (if you prefer)…beautiful 8-acre spot where you can pack a pic-nick lunch…Wonderful scenery too look at (even BUY) when you arrive…close enough to BERT’S BLACK WIDOW H-D (941-883-8000, COASTAL CRUISERS (941-627-6686), ERICK’S PERFORMANCE SHOP (941-769-1971), DESTINATION POWERSPORTS (941-639-2155) , FEO’S MOTORSPORTS (941-235-8963), J&J ONE STOP GUN SHOP (941-979-5008), LEATHER OR NOT (941-875-9380)-, LOONEY BIN (941-255-5999), MARK DAVERN TATOO (941-764-7225), P.C. MOOSE #2121 ( 941-629-1140), T & E CYCLES (941-639-7200), TARZAN’S (941-429-9917), TESCH CYCLES (941-347-7168), WHALEN POWERSPORTS (855-612-6980), WO0DY’S PAWN (941-916-9694)….not far from SIX BENDS H-D (844-749-2363…AND BEST OF ALL IT IS FREE!!! Where do you ask is such a place? Please read on… This month I had the pleasure of interviewing one of the owners of POTTERY EXPRESS 25370 ZEMEL ROAD PUNTA GORDA, FL 33955 Hours: Monday – Saturday 9-5pm / Sunday 10-4:30pm www.potteryexpress.com 941-505-8400 Debbie Slone and Gus Ortiz continued on this amazing destination spot started out by Richard and Nancy Palmer in November, 2015. Richard and Nancy owned a 5 acre lot in Punta Gorda. Nancy (being a master gardener) loved Bamboo trees of all kinds. They both loved to travel. Richard was into the Mexican artistry called Talavera. After Hurricane Charlie hit Punta Gorda in 2004, the city decided that they needed canals. Richard and Nancy filled up their 5 acres with the fill dirt created by those canals. Alas was born The Bamboo Farm. Bamboo is commonly known as taking over the whole yard (and your neighbor’s yard as well!). But that is ONE kind of bamboo called Running Bamboo and it grows up north. The kind that POTTERY EXPRESS has is called Tropical Clumping Bamboo. It comes in 1,000 varieties and POTTERY EXPRESS carries 20. Each one has its own characteristics. Tropical Bamboo can grow anywhere from 15’ – 100’ tall. Whether you like black, blue, or yellow canes, or dimensions 1”, 3”, or 5” you can buy bamboo from THE BAMBOO FARM in 3, 7, 15, or 25 gallon pails and whatever bamboo you choose grows in 6’-8’circles! The cost is from $25 up to $335. Dwarf Buddha Belly is POTTERY EXPRESS’ biggest seller. The name POTTERY EXPRESS originated because Richard and Nancy Palmer brought back pots and art during their travels. They already had the BAMBOO FARM, so they added the pots and artwork too! Richard thought that he would have to deliver the pots since they were in such a remote location. BUT it’s that remote location that drives people to POTTERY EXPRESS and all of its glory! Whether it be

by car, motorcycle, van, bike, or just walking, THE POTTERY EXPRESS is a destination spot! It’s truly beautiful! Debbie Slone says “it’s a Zen-like feel when you arrive at POTTERY EXPRESS. It is true! With their 19 employees - Victoria (Wholesale), Kiki, Margie, Sheila, Shane (Sales), Lisa (Online Sales) Danny, Tom (Packing), Donna, Lizandro (Inventory), Kenny, Derek, CJ, Sam (Forklift) Rob (Bamboo), Gary (Landscaping, and Dee (bookkeeper) they are family owned business. At POTTERY EXPRESS, Gus and Debbie treat their employees as family too! POTTERY EXPRESS is now a total of 8 acres. Five of which are adorned by beautiful pots coming from Vietnam, Mexico, Spain, and USA. Garry (Landscaper) grooms all of the plants and flowers and bamboo. The other 3 acres are for storage. POTTERY EXPRESS sells wholesale and retail. They even have several gardens set up so you can see what it is like to have your own piece of paradise. You can buy and choose what you like and add to it where your budget allows. Like Debbie says, “they offer a park-like experience”… where else can you come to enjoy a day outside that is peaceful and surrounded by beautiful pots, waterfalls, fountains, gazebos, sculptures and artwork of every size, color, shape that you can imagine? You can even bring a pic-nick basket to boot…for FREE! I really enjoyed interviewing Debbie who is a fun-loving person, loves Jesus and loves sharing the joy of being outside and finding her Zen. She dislikes dishonesty and mosquitoes. Debbie and Gus had been at POTTERY EXPRESS since 2010 managing the place for Richard and Nancy. “What is the future of POTTERY EXPRESS?” Debbie answered continued being the destination spot for all of FLORIDA! Her greatest achievement is her daughter! For work, it is taking on this business that the Palmer’s started and expanding it. Jane “Woman” Werley from Insane Pools on Animal Planet bought from POTTERY EXPRESS! During season, the local yoga class comes and enjoys a day outside in the sun on the lake! Richard and Nancy Palmer are frequent visitors too! Most of the pottery comes from Vietnam. It is really cool how they make the pottery…it comes from Mekong River, they shape it and drizzle the pottery with colors, heat it, then pour more colors over the same pottery, repeat. Vietnam pottery is virtually indestructible. It is weather-resistant (sun proof, frost proof, fade-proof ). The other pottery comes from Mexico, Spain, and USA. Mexican pottery is from two classes – Talavera and Folk Art. The items are all handcrafted and hand painted…BEAUTIFUL! POTTERY EXPRESS is working on their Glass Lamp Shop ordering lighted sculptures from Mexico. There are 6 pole barns (4 tied together) that make up all of POTTERY EXPRESS inside buildings. Nothing describes its beauty. It is worth the ride just to see it…and while you’re there, don’t forget to check out their bathrooms! ******* Til next issue, Nancy p., Full Throttle rep. Ride Safe, and RIDE WHENEVER YOU CAN!

The Christmas in July Toy Run to St. Joseph's Children's Hospital was a huge success as it has been for the past few years! We had just over 100 bikes and a ton of great people on the ride this year. We went to the Hospital and dropped off the toys then headed over to the Tampa Yankee's game. They ended up having a double header so we wern't able to ride onto the field like last year. We would like to thank everyone who took time out of their day to come out to this great event! We even had super Heroes there this year!!! We do this ride twice a year, july and December. We hope to see everyone again on this ride in the holiday season in December. Thank You from Full Throttle Magazine and Attorney Fran Haasch!
