I hope this damn rain ends soon! Every time I look at my bike, the skies open up and mother nature laughs at me. Luckily we have had a few events get through in the month of July. We had a great time at the Seminole Hard Rock Casino where they threw a great party on the top level of the Winners Way Garage. About 500 bikes showed up and it was an awesome time! We also did our Annual Soaked and Sore Ass Poker Run and had over 100 bikes make the long wet trek to Savannah, Georgia. Then we went to the hospital and made some kids smile on the Christmas in July Toy Run. July actually ended up being a great month despite all the rain we saw. August is looking good with some of the big national events going on and some new bike nights starting in the area. Every Thursday night, Jannus Landing and Club Detroit are starting a new bike night. This is really cool with bikes parking inside the courtyard at Jannus Landing. This is going to take off so plan on coming out and having a good time. Of course, August always means The Sturgis Black Hills Rally in South Dakota. We at Full Throttle are making plans for the 2015 event with Jaw Dropping Customs and a few others. We are already planning a route, dates, miles, and all arrangements. Be on the lookout for that next year! This year they are also celebrating the 110th anniversary of HarleyDavidson with some huge concerts and parties up in Milwaukee, WI a few weeks after Sturgis. 727-846-1040 It’s seems this summer has been exceptionally warm and it’s only going to get hotter. Speaking of hot, as usual the Diva’s are on fire! We have been very busy riding and taking part in events for our community! First off we had our Diva Angels All Chapter Raffle on June 19th. It was a fun filled evening at Quaker Steak & Lube where we also recognized some of our diva sisters on their five year anniversary. We also worked a wonderful event for our friend Sal LaPorte on the 23rd. Sal was diagnosed with lung cancer and QSL put together a wonder benefit for him. It was so much fun and Sal and his beautiful wife Tina definitely felt the love. The Divas also checked out the new Bike Night at Sea Dogs that following Tuesday. Twenty plus Divas attended and I don’t think Sea Dog’s will ever be the same! Next up was the St. Pete Pride Parade. The Diva’s and other bikers lead the parade and although we got drenched from the rain, fun was had by all. Our director Robin and her girl Sandy took part in Full Throttles Soaked & Sore Ass Poker Run and they had a blast…. and sore asses I’m sure. While they were riding the roads between Florida and Georgia; some of us took part in the Women & Teens Car Care Clinic sponsored by Hope Peterson, owner of New Hope Auto & Truck Services. Well, summer is here and July was a great month at here in the back yard. We kicked the month off celebrating the 3rd anniversary of our TV department of Full Throttle Vision. We help the bash at High Octane Saloon in Homosassa, FL. As always we dedicated to the ladies and worked with our good friends at Wings Of Hope Cancer Team to promote breast cancer awareness. As always the lovely ladies of Undercover Betty rocked the house all day long. Undercover Betty belted out tons of rock-n-roll favorites along with a few of their original songs from their upcoming CD. I finally got my pink bra from Wing Of Hope. Thank you so much Ronnie and Sandy. It looks great hanging there on my wall of fame. Also we help out ladies high heel contest

and the mens pink bra contest. Always tons of fun with that. And Thanks to Attorney Fran Haasch we gave 3 beautiful Red, White and Blue trophies for our bike show winners. Then the highlight of the evening was our Miss Full Throttle Vision Bikini Contest. We had such Beautiful ladies as always from Florida,s Finest. Competition was tough this year with all the ladies but we was proud to Crown Miss Randi Kassha Seville as the 2013 Miss Full Throttle Vision. Hi All, I just sat down to tell you a little about the last month. It went by so fast and we did a lot of things during July. If you didn’t get to go on the Soaked and Sore Ass Run – it was good. You rode through Florida and then into George (almost to South Carolina)! You did get wet and a sore ass too! We were at the 5th stop and the people who worked there were great and helpful to all of us (we went through a couple of rolls of paper towels trying to dry out hands) We stayed in Savannah two days and then went to St. Augustine for two more days for a mini vacation. The next weekend was the Christmas in July Toy Run from Tampa H-D to St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital. It was nice to see all of the people coming out with toys for the kids! During August most of the bike nights are hoping the rain will go away. Also the Tuck a Buck run is coming on August 30th with a $500.00 purse to give away. Back in the 80s a guy called me up and said he had a gold wing for sale. Said it had not run in a little over a year - the reason for it is that he owns tampa helicopter service. He hired a pilot from texas who brought it with him - when he got here he needed money so he hocked it to me for $600. Worked for me for a little less than a year and left me with the bike and never paid me. I want to sell it and I heard you buy and sell bikes. I told him I was definitely interested. He told me it was a Peter O Knight airport in Tampa so I went and looked at it. It was a 1981 black fully dressed. So I bought it not running knowing I would have to clean the carbs and buy a battery. Which I did and it run really good plus it had a radio - I never had a bike with a radio. It was a really nice ride and I really enjoyed it. I had a girlfriend who didnt like riding on bikes but she liked this one. She went for a ride and liked it and the radio. She decided she liked the gold wing not other bikes. As time went by she heard

that Dolly Parton was going to make a personal appearance in miami and asked if we could go and take the bike. So we packed up and headed for miami and I was really lucky that we actually got to meet Dolly Parton. When we met her I kept looking down all the time - she was really nice but I kept looking down all the time. My girlfriend kept asking me why I kept looking down most men look just below the shoulders. So she turned to me and said, well darling, why are you looking down. I said did you see her feet and how tiny they were. My girlfriend looked me in the eye and said nothing grows in the shade. I really enjoyed that goldwing - I have bought and sold a few more. I really like bikes 2 or 3 wheels thru my life. At almost 80 it has been my drug of choice - I cant seem to quit the habit. Happy Birthday Susie - see you soon.

I’ve been riding a sport bike for 6 years this week! I’m a dual major at USF-Tampa; I’m majoring in marketing and management. I’m one of the newest to join the Full Throttle Team and I’m the first Intern! I’m looking forward to the Fall semester, as it will be my last. I’ll be taking advantage of a great opportunity, and graduating with my dual major in December. I hope to gain B2B sales experience and learn all there is to know about working and advertising with Full Throttle. A Little Background on Myself: I’ve been riding 6 years, been endorsed for 7. I’ve worked with Barney’s Brooksville, I was a porter, and the general manager’s assistant. I’m President of the Bull Bikers Association at USF, I’ve also been working for the University and FDOT assisting with data collections on rider behaviors. In addition, I’m currently training to become a MSF coach- training with Ride at Joe’s Motorcycle Training. I’m submerged in the motorcycle industry and I love every minute of it, even my family rides! Recently: I was fortunate to help out with a stop along the recent Soaked and Sore Ass Run to Georgia; My mom, brother, and I loaded up the bikes and rode a total of 800 miles that weekend. We encountered lots of wind and rain, but we all had a great time along the way. Meeting all the other rain or shine riders were just added benefits. I look forward to working with everyone at Full Throttle and even more so looking forward to meeting and working with our friends, readers, and advertisers! No you don't have to join one of the many motorcycle clubs out there to find it. Did you know theirs a bunch of us scooters folks out there that are trying to look out for you and yours? They are called Florida Bikers Helping Florida Bikers, a 501- c-3 Non Profit Organization helping you one county at a time. There goal is to help sick or injured bikers county at a time
starting with Pasco, hernando, and citrus counties and hoping to rapidly spread throughout the state. Money is raised in each county through events , membership fees and sales of organization swagger, such as patches will be kept separate for each county. All money raised in each county will be recorded separately per county dispersed to the most severe case first. There goal is to make sure there are funds available to those in need. All it will cost you is 15.00 bucks to get involved. That Will get you a patch for your vest and some real brotherhood that is so hard to find these days. Get involved. Bikers looking out for bikers. This isn’t my usual piece on motorcycle shops I visited this month. Actually, it is something that most people never want to talk about. And I won’t bore you with the statistics of the accidents or fatalities involving motorcyclists. But there is one thing that you may want to consider. That’s why I interviewed SKYWAY MEMORIAL GARDENS ¬ located at 5200 US Hwy. 19 N, Palmetto, FL 34221 941-722-4543 Skyway Memorial Gardens opened in 1952 and just recently celebrated their 60th anniversary. The land was originally a farm on 43 acres with magnificent Oak trees. Skyway Memorial Gardens is becoming known as the premier cemetery of Manatee County. Their mission – “… is to give outstanding service to our families, to use our imagination, to be creative, and to make it personal.” Skyway’s consumer-friendly website(www.skywaymemorialgardens.com) is there to help families with helpful information pertinent to making the best decisions possible, including pre-arrangements, which are growing in popularity. Skyway Memorial Gardens is a proud NorthStar Memorial Group, LLC (NSMG) provider and is among four distinguished Florida locations owned by the company. NSMG is nationally recognized for its quality, professionalism, ethical standards and its philosophy that encourages management to run their locations like it is their own, which allows them to be fully responsive to the needs of the communities served. Cremation’s popularity has grown due to its ability to cost-effectively memorialize a loved one. Urns may have personal icons such as bikes or keepsakes – there are a lot of different options. For instance, if you want to they can even put what club you belong to or if you’re in the military, etc. The options are almost limitless. Skyway Memorial Gardens is active in reaching out to different community groups and organizations. It’s an educational process because they know first-hand that it’s never too late to plan because no one knows what the future will bring. It’s a delicate subject for many. No one wants to talk about death or dying, but it’s somewhat easier to plan ahead and have “all of that stuff” taken care of so loved ones don’t have to deal with it. Take for instance Jacquelyn – she is from a family with nine children. Luckily, her dad made all the arrangements ahead of time. Can you imagine getting all the nine kids together to make a decision? The key is to pre-plan and not leave everything to the last minute when you’re loved ones are going through the emotional stress of a loved one’s passing. Pre-planning can also alleviate the financial burden at the time of need. Many options provide easy monthly payment plans. It doesn’t cost very much to get started and you don’t have to pay for it all at once. “Buying a cemetery plot is a wise thing to do. It isn’t like real estate where the markets go up and down. It’s constantly going up,” Beale says. It’s better to buy it now and make monthly payments because it’s only going up. A family bought a crypt in 1999. It has gone up $14,000 dollars in 2013 prices! That’s unbelievable! It’s a good investment and if you don’t use it, you can always sell your plot or leave it to someone in your will,” she adds. Skyway Memorial Gardens has two areas for Veterans (Field of Honor One and Two), a Christus area (for Catholics), the Last Supper Area (which has a statue of The Last Supper), and a Garden of Angels (for children). They are different than other cemeteries because Skyway Memorial Gardens donates the space and only charge for the labor (for open/closing). They also have Good Samaritan, Garden of Tranquility, Garden of Manatee and Upright Manatee. As Skyway Memorial Gardens is growing, they’re also evolving and educating the community about options and cemetery areas, which is a big part of moving forward. For example, in an upright section, you can only have headstones that are standing. In a flat section, you can only have “flat” headstone. There
are reasons for these distinctions and understanding options allow families to make better choices for their memorialization. On the note of being a “personalized service,” a woman passed away and she was a big fan of Monster trucks. So you know what they did? About 25 Monster trucks came to her procession and they drove around the cemetery to salute her passing. They blocked off the grounds just for that day. One time, they even had 10 fire trucks ride in to salute a fallen fire fighter. One of the fire trucks got stuck by a tree branch! The branch had to be cut to get the fire trucks through! They’ve had bikers ride around their grounds to celebrate the life of a biker. Can you imagine, lots of Harleys, and Honda’s, and every bike out there revving up and giving a salute to a fallen biker and riding around the cemetery? This is what Skyway Memorial Gardens will do to help celebrate a great passion. Skyway Memorial Gardens is hosting an open house September 15, 2013 from 11-4pm. About 50 bikes turned out for the Christmas in July Toy Run this year! We put a lot of smiles on kids faces that are stuck in the hospital that should be out playing. An old white haired man from Naples, Florida , walked into a jewelry store with a beautiful much younger, very hot, sexy blonde at his side. A man was sitting on the edge of the bed, watching his wife, who was looking at herself in the mirror. Since her birthday was not far off he asked what she’d like to have for her birthday. ‘I’d like to be six again’, she replied, still looking in the mirror . Her head was reeling and her stomach felt upside down. He then took her to a McDonald’s where he ordered her a Happy Meal with extra fries and a chocolate shake. Then it was off to a movie, popcorn, a soda pop, and her favorite candy, M&M’s. What a fabulous adventure! Finally she wobbled home with her husband and collapsed into bed exhausted. He leaned over his wife with a big smile and lovingly asked, ‘Well Dear, what was it like being six again?’ Her eyes slowly opened and her expression suddenly changed. ‘I meant my dress size, you f---ing retard!!!!’

Florida Motorcycle Safety Coalition: Drink + Ride = Lose Did you know that the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) cares about motorcyclists? Have you seen the billboards on I-4, I-75, and I-95 that warn motorists to Look Twice Save a Life? How about the billboards that advise you to Be Smart…Be Seen or Never Drink and Ride? The billboards are funded by the FDOT and implemented through Ride Smart Florida and the Florida Motorcycle Safety Coalition. Yes…there is a motorcycle safety coalition in Florida. It was established by the Florida Department of Transportation in 2008 in response to the increasing number of motorcycle accidents and fatalities that were occurring. The Coalition is comprised of state agency leaders and staff, county leaders, law enforcement officers, motorcycle course trainers, EMT personnel, insurance providers, motorcycle dealers, riding groups, safety advocates, engineers, researchers, trauma center personnel, judges, and others. The main mission for the Coalition is to implement the Florida Motorcycle Safety Strategic Plan (MSSP) with a goal of improving the overall safety of motorcyclists. The Coalition looks at all of the safety factors for motorcyclists, but there are four areas that are their main focus at this time: 1.Educating motorists to watch for motorcycles; 2. Motorcyclists using Personal Protective Equipment including helmets; 3. Speeding; and 4. Drinking and Riding. Ride Smart Florida is currently leading the efforts to reduce drinking and riding in Florida by introducing the Drink + Ride = Lose Campaign. The campaign will run concurrently with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s (NHTSA) Drunk Driving National Enforcement Crackdown scheduled August 16 through September 2, 2013. Here are some sobering facts from the NHTSA and the Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over Campaign. Each year, nearly 11,000 people die on our roads due to drunk driving. America has more drunk drivers than most countries have people. 17.2 million drivers have driven one or more times in the preceding 12 months when they thought they were over the legal limit. Every 48 minutes one more American will die because of drunk driving. Between midnight and 3am, drunk driving crashes claim a life every 23 minutes. In Florida in 2011, impaired motorcyclists with a BAC of .08+ accounted for 26% of motorcycle fatalities, while impaired motorcyclists with a BAC of .01+ accounted for 32% of motorcycle fatalities. And who are the riders that are drinking and riding? The age group that was highest for fatally injured motorcycle riders with a BAC .08 g/dL or above was the 40-44 (38%) age group, followed by the 45–49 and 35–39 age groups at 37 percent, respectively.
Studies by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the states of Florida and Kentucky, and in Australia (“Quick tips: The Importance of Riding Unimpaired by Alcohol or Other Drugs.” PDF) (Motorcycle Safety Foundation, 2006.) indicate the following: • Having any alcohol in one’s body increases the chance of crashing by five times. •Having a BAC greater than 0.05 percent increases the risk of crashing about 40-fold. • One-fourth of all fatal alcohol-related motorcycle crashes involve motorcyclists running off the road, overturning, or falling from the motorcycle rather than striking another object. It’s a well-known fact that drinking is a part of motorcycle riding culture, but it’s a risk-taking behavior that can harm yourself and many other innocent motoring public. The statistics are sobering, but even greater sobering consequences are if you get hurt, get arrested, or become a fatality. Before you put that key in the ignition and swing your leg over the bike please remember that you are not the only one who suffers the consequences…your family and friends are unwilling victims to your actions. And as a family member and a friend, it’s your duty not to do it and an even greater duty not to let your buddy do it. Far too many friends have been lost on the roads of Florida….it’s up to you to make a difference. Billboards are just one of the many tools utilized by the Coalition to promote Drink + Ride = Lose, motorcycle awareness, and rider education. You may have seen Ride Smart Florida’s tent set up at many of Florida’s motorcycle events, such as Daytona Bike Week, Biketoberfest and the Leesburg Bikefest handing out high-viz backpacks and t-shirts, bumper stickers, magnets, safety tips and more. Every Marine a rifleman! I have heard this statement many times in my life, but it was the most recent time that it made me think of ABATE of Florida, Inc. Let me first pay my undying respect to all the people who have served this Country in both times of war and peace. Allow me to give recognition to the US Army, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, National Guard, and Merchant Marines, however, it is the USMC that I have always been most enamored. But I digress… Every Marine a rifleman! The saying emphasizes that every Marine, no matter what their MOS (military occupation specialty), is also trained infantry and with few exceptions they have to certify annually with their rifle and physical fitness. Consequently, a Marine no matter what they do, must be ready to defend this country at a moment’s notice. ABATE of Florida, Inc. has many jobs that must be done in order for not just the organization, but for all motorcyclists in Florida to successfully move forward with our continuous fight for motorcycle rights and safety. Just as every Marine is a rifleman, it should also be said that every ABATE member is a legislative warrior. No matter what your role is with ABATE of Florida, Inc., every one of you must be ready to fight for your rights and safety when needed. That time, my friends, is now. We are all counting on your help. We all know that motorcyclists are social; we enjoy being with our friends and sharing our stories of the road. We also know that motorcyclists are not afraid to offer an opinion and share our thoughts. Those two facts go a long way to help ABATE of Florida, Inc. fight for your rights and safety. I like to call this the ripple effect, just as a single drop of water on a pond sends out an ever widening circle; the same applies to information in the motorcycle community. It does not take long for word to spread about motorcycle related political issues and how it affects us as riders. Words also spreads quickly within our community about which politicians are motorcycle friendly
and which ones want to take back our freedoms. Over the past few years several elections in Florida have been won or lost due in part to the involvement of the motorcycle community. Each year a greater number of candidates are seeing the benefit of reaching out to our community and seeking our support. After all, we are a great cross section of the population; we are all genders, ethnicities, and income levels. We are blue collar, white collar, retired, and students. And we are all very educated whether formally or street-wise and we have the passion to fight for our freedoms. Along with the increased awareness of the politicians seeking our support, we have to be ever vigilant to recognize which politicians are just glad-handing us to get our powerful votes. The good news is that like the ripples on a pond, information about the politicians both good and bad spread quickly throughout our community. If you want to know what is going on in the political world and cut through the political haze, just ask an ABATE of Florida, Inc. member, you will get the information that you want without all the B.S.
