The Turkey has been eaten, and it’s time for some toy runs!!! The first Sunday in December, Dec. 3rd, is always the “Jim’s” Bert’s Barracuda Harley-Davidson Toy Run that draws thousands of bikers and has a great escorted ride down to the beaches and back to the dealership. There are so many great toy runs happening around the state, be sure to try and make as many as possible. Here are a few for you to remember. The Full Throttle Teddy Bear Toy run that goes to St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital is December 16th starting at Tampa Harley on Dale Mabry. This ride is earlier in the day and is awesome. We go to the hospital and there are always a few kids outside you can hand presents directly to. The next day, Dec. 17th, is the Suncoast Brotherhood Toy run that starts at the Kmart in Dunedin. This ride always has over 2,000 bikes and is also police escorted. For more info visit the event pages like cycle fish and Full Throttle Magazine’s Facebook page. The Florida Motorcycle Expo is also right around the corner. Feb 9th – 11th 2018 at Quaker Steak and Lube. We have a great band line-up this year bringing in multiple national acts like WARRANT on Friday Night and LITA FORD on Saturday night along with Jasmine Cain, and StormBringer with Robbie Steinhart formerly from KANSAS. Besides all the great music we will have over 100 vendors, $1000 miss full throttle contest, $100 an hour cash give-away, a ride in bike show on Sunday and the $20,000 BIKE BUILDER INVITATIONAL. We are looking for custom bikes from all over the US to compete. Only 50 bikes will be invited so send me pictures of your bike if you are interested in entering the show! My email is tonyc@floridafullthrottle. com or call us at 727-935-4875. This will be the biggest Expo ever so start making your plans now! We are also looking for sponsors for the Florida Motorcycle Expo, sponsorship for the Expo comes with 1 year (12 months) of advertising. One of our best packages we offer is for $5,000, that gets your business logo on everything we are doing to promote the event, booth space, and a half page ad for 1 year plus MUCH MUCH MORE like a live stream from your location, social media promotion, flyers, banners and stage mentions at the Expo. Contact us at 727935-4875 if you are interested in this great promotion for the Expo and 2018. If you get a chance, please stop by the Full Throttle Offices on Friday Dec. 15th from 12noon till 4pm. We are having a Full Throttle Magazine Open House and Christmas Party. We will have FREE food and drinks and a “FUN” present exchange at 3pm ($10 value present) Our office is located at Capt. Jacks in Tarpon Springs, 39 Oscar Hill Road, Tarpon Springs FL 34689. I would like to welcome some new people to the Full Throttle Team. JC has been entering our bike shows and ended up winning the slow race at our 21st Anniversary party and decided to start selling ands and working with us. I would also like to welcome Keith and Heidi from Bad Influence Kustoms in Palm Bay on the East Coast of Fl. Both have an article in this month’s magazine introducing themselves to the readers. Welcome to the teamJC, Keith and Heidi!!! Have a very safe and happy holiday season, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from the Full Throttle Magazine staff. I would like to wish Paul Eastman and Dan Eastman happy birthday’s in December. Be safe, ride smart and don’t drink and ride and I’ll see you soon! STRAWBERRIES XOXO

Motorman’s Tips, Tricks and Techniques - Crash Bars Someone asked me recently what’s the first accessory I should buy for my bike. I’d have to say it’s a good set of crash bars or highway bars, as some would call them. These bars are designed to protect the motorcycle in a low speed (under 15 mph) tip over. Since low speeds are where the great majority of tip overs occur, crash bars make a lot of sense. I’ve also personally witnessed instances where crash bars have limited damage to the bike and rider at speeds up to 30 mph where the rider over-braked the rear brake, low sided, and slid along the ground. In that type of incident, crash bars can keep the bike from laying flat on its side on top of the rider’s leg. These bars will also keep the rider from getting trapped under the bike in a parking lot tip-over and make it a lot easier to pick the bike up in that event. Every manufacturer of these bars however, includes a “disclaimer” with every set sold. The disclaimer states they are not designed to protect the rider and should not be relied upon for that purpose, in other words, the usual lawyer crap. The reason for these disclaimers is mainly due to a lawsuit filed some years ago for some genius that slammed into a bus at 70 mph and suffered severs injuries even though his bike was equipped with crash bars. The lawyer must have argued that a reasonable person should conclude that crash bars should prevent crashes and of course, any injury to the

16

rider no matter how stupid he or she may be. In any event, I can tell you that you’re much better off with them than without them. Generally, the wider the bar, the more they protect the bike in a tip-over and if you can, get the rear crash bars as well as fronts, all the better. The bars made by Harley which come standard with the Road King as well as the standard bars on the Kawasaki Nomad are among the best I’ve seen. Both models can be dropped at parking lot speeds all day long with no damage to the bike. This fact will come in handy when practicing your low speed maneuvers and should take away your fear of taking an MSF Experienced Rider course or my advanced Ride Like a Pro course that I offer in New Port Richey Florida and my other training locations across the USA. If you wrap some heater hose and duct tape them around the bottom of the bars, you won’t even have to worry about scratching them. Along with Harley-Davidson and Kawasaki, there are many after-market companies manufacturing crash bars for just about all cruisers. Cobra, M/C and Lindby immediately come to mind. All these company’s bars offer some degree of protection. Once you bolt a set of crash bars on your ride, it’s a good idea to gently lay the bike over onto the bars and check how well they will protect the bike. Make sure you have someone help you with this test in case you can’t lift the bike up by yourself. Until next month, remember, keep your head and eyes up and look where you want to go, the bike will follow.

Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and Happy, Safe, and prosperous New Year for 2018. For more information on my classes, DVDs, book, and downloads, www.ridelikeapro.com Motorman Copyright 2017 Jerry “Motorman Palladino

Looking forward to a great month for December, toy runs, parades, Full Throttle open house here at the office, Christmas and the New Year! Looking back on the past 8 months that I’ve been a part of the Full Throttle team, all that I can say is “thank you!” Everyone that I have met has welcomed me to the community, and I am constantly surprised by the motorcycle community’s generosity and willingness to contribute to important causes around our great state. I am very happy to get to be a part of it. On a totally different note, with the holidays approaching, suicide rates often increase this time of year. Personally, I’ve already lost too many friends and shipmates this year. The most recent one came as a complete shock to everyone that knew him, and I still

34

shake my head in disbelief. Here’s my idea. whenever you think about that person you haven’t talked to in a while (old army buddy, shipmate, friend from high school, a co-worker) pick up the phone, get on Facebook and send them a message. let them know you’re thinking about them. You never know what that could mean to them, hell, it could possibly save a life. Or if you’re that person who needs someone to talk to, call ME, or the Veterans Crisis Line. No one should have to fight that battle alone. Fair Winds and Following Seas: AO2(AW) Kevin W. Welcome to the Back Yard. Hard to believe another year has passed us by. 2017 was an amazing year. We here at Full Throttle kicked it off with Quiet Riot, Banging Heads at the Florida Motorcycle Expo and we were just getting started. We traveled from Daytona to Sturgis and had a wonderful time with bikers and motorcycle enthusiast everywhere we went. This year’s trip to Sturgis was special one for me as my cousin Mike form Louisiana after retiring form 37 years as a police officer got to make his first trip to Sturgis with me and the Full Throttle Crew. Welcome to the Full Throttle family Mike. 2018 will be just as exciting. I kick off ringing in the New Year on Main Street in Daytona again at the World-Famous Boot Hill Saloon. If you have never been to New Years on Main Street in Daytona you need to come be there with us. Then we turn our attention to the 20th Annual Full

42

Throttle Florida Motorcycle Expo at Quaker Steak and Lube. This year we are bringing our biggest show ever with WARRANT on the Friday Night and The Queen of Rock LITA FORD on the Saturday Night. So, put it on your calendar February 9th, 10th, and 11th. You don't want to miss it. Then is Daytona Bike Week, Leesburg, Sturgis and so much more so make sure you get your Full Throttle Magazine every month to keep up with all the kick ass events in Florida and throughout the United States. Well, that’s about it from the Back Yard. I hope everyone has a very safe and Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Always remember to Keep Your Stick On The Ice.. MONGO

St. Pete Beach Bike Fest was a huge success for the first time ever event! Full Throttle, Bert King from Bert's Barracuda Harley-Davidson and Keith Overton from Tradewinds Resort would like to personally thank everyone who came out to the event and saw the concerts, rode in the poker runs, did the bar crawls, entered the bike shows or just came out for a good time. With an estimated 30,000 in attendance over the weekend, I would say that is a great turn out! Be on the look out for info on next years event and room rates! I personally can't wait to see who they will be booking for the big concerts! THANK YOU all again for coming out and making this a hugely successful Bike Fest that is here to stay!

FROM WALL STREET TO MAIN STREET….. ON TWO WHEELS For this month’s article, I decided to share a story about one of my clients, who I will just call John for the sake of privacy. John was referred to me just about a year ago, we met at my office here in St. Pete. After an open and sincere conversation, I could see that John needed some answers. So, I asked John to go home and gather all his account statements, so we could work through each one of his accounts at our next meeting. At the very minimum I would explain the risks he might be facing with his current investments, what he was earning on these investments, and if he was in any danger of outliving his money. Fast forward to our next meeting, John told me that he had inherited several accounts from his family and had not really reviewed the investments. He was getting by on his social security, and dipping into one of these accounts only when necessary. John was retired and wanted to ride his motorcycle and go kayaking with his friends, when he could afford to. It became clear that he did not understand, nor did he really want to understand his underlying investments. John thought his accounts contained a healthy, yet modest, six-figure account value, but as we came to the final statement in his stack of statements we discovered that his combined accounts actually contained nearly three times the account value that he previously thought. Most of his inherited money had been invested in the stock and bond markets for many years and had grown significantly over that time. Like a lot of people John did not fully understand how to analyze his account statements. Considering that his statements were coming from different banks and various investment companies, even an experienced investor could have easily been confused. Two things nearly jumped off the page at me: John’s investments were extremely vulnerable to market volatility, and the interest they were generating was minimal. John was 70-yearsold, but did not have a will, power of attorney, or health

46

care power of attorney. So, if John’s health fell into jeopardy, his family would have had an extremely difficult time stepping in to help. Combine this with the risky nature of his investments, and John could have had a serious investment problem as well, at arguably the worst possible time: Retirement. So, I sat John down and explained his current investments in detail and how they work. He had 10 different accounts that we could consolidate, reducing the fees and confusion. I then explained the risk associated with these investments and, since he was now retired, he should consider locking in the gains and protecting his principal from a market downturn. John liked the idea and we moved forward with specific recommendations. John would now have only one account that would provide him with a level of lifetime income that was more than double the amount he was expecting. In addition to his income, any remaining principal could be passed directly to his beneficiaries or his beloved charities at his death. I then referred him to an attorney to help with his will and power of attorney. One month later, I called John back in to the office. It was clear that he was no longer worrying about his mystery accounts. His affairs were now in order; he had a will, a power of attorney, one investment account and just one person to call with any investment questions. But the real win was obviously John’s new-found peace of mind. John never thought he could protect his principal and get this amount of retirement income. To this day, I get phone calls, emails, and little visits from John simply to tell me how he is enjoying life so much more now. He tells me about trips he can now take to go see his grandchildren, and how when his daughter came to town, he was able to take the entire family to Disneyworld. And, of course, how he can now go buy all that seafood he loves, take his motorcycle on long road trips, and go kayaking with his friends whenever he wants. Helping wonderful people like John is what makes everything I do, and all my 30+ years in this business worthwhile. Please keep in mind, this illustrates one customer’s experience. Each investor’s experience is unique and the results may vary. If you have a question you would like to ask me, never hesitate to call me at (754) MONEYAM, no questions will go unanswered and any question that is important to you, is important to me. On Nov. 4th I had the pleasure or working with Lieutenant Colonel Fitz on a benefit for V.E.P Veterans Enhancement Project. The day consisted of a poker run and all stops were at American Legions or VFW"s in the area. There were raffles, great vendors, bike show, some fantastic sponsors such as Fran Haasch, FIN GPS (who donated $500) the band Modern Mayhem donated their time and played to a great crowd at Quaker Steak and Lube. It was a great day that raised over $1600.00 for the project. But what exactly is The Veteran's Enhancement Project and how does it help a vet? V.E.P. is a very unique grassroots movement towards the brotherhood of all things "motorcycles". Many veteran's can't afford to maintain and most do not know how to work on their own bikes. V.E.P. will give the vets a place that they can work on their bikes and the bikes of other's. If they need help it will be available, they will be able to learn what needs to be done. They will be put on a path to developing a skilled trade. They then will be able to fix their own bikes or those of other vets. Some vets come back as single/double

amputees and cannot afford to make the conversion for their medical situation. V.E.P. will provide a service to these vets AT NO COST. The veteran will develop a sense of pride by learning something new, helping other's and or creating a true piece of art. This will set them on the path of self-advocacy and reduce depression. There is also the additional dimension of comradery these veteran's will experience as they work with other vets. The comradery is unique among the service's and is something the vet never stops craving. We will make sure their motorcycles are safe and presentable. We will help them pour their hearts and souls into their work and with it, create an enduring reminder of their path to healing. It was our honor here at Full Throttle to be able to be a part of this benefit. For more info please check out their website. http://www.vepusa.org or email at infor@vepusa.org Tom Busche - Founder Jon Hermon - Co-Founder Thank You Tom for the use of your words and remember to Thank a Vet!! Ride Safe everyone, Connie

To know Charlie, is to know one of his stories... There is no mold that Charlie fits in. To know Charlie, is to sit and listen to Charlie. From throw away kid, to iron worker and the story in between. He was a throw away kid. Raised by an aunt, he grew up on the streets. From a young age, he learned to hustle. From mowing lawns to doing whatever it took, he made it on his own. His true love started as assembling bicycles from garbage to working on dirt bikes and with some guidance building his first motorcycle from parts. Charlie can hustle like no one I have ever known. He has a knack for seeing into the future and knowing what people want. What many of us would walk by, Charlie would make into gold. Charlie loves cars and motorcycles – but many people don't know the other side: Charlie loved to help people. It was not in the sense that many of us could ever truly understand. From his humble roots, he helped more people than I can count. There were the kids who had their christmas presents stolen, there were the kids that their parents just didn't care and there were the kids that needed encouragement to attain their dreams. Quietly, he watched them both succeed and fail, knowing that he gave them the chance that they would never have. Knowing Charlie is to know his stories. I had a hard time distinguishing between his stories and his jokes. I was introduced to Charlie by his brother and for some reason we always got along. It took me a long time to understand Charlie and his ways. Once I realized that Charlie would quietly listen and then tell a story. Then I realized that was his way of guiding and helping you

48

to see something he had already seen. He really would take time to tell me things and help to guide me. Charlie is a person that could make you both laugh and cry at the same time. Looking over all the years I have known him, we have had a lot of fun. From auctions to looking at junk (his treasures) to going on road trips, we had a blast. I really got a chance to know him by listening to him. There are no real words that can express how I feel, but I know that my life has been better with Charlie in it. He has been there for me through the ups and downs. We have found common ground as friends as well as human beings. Many of our core values are the same and mine have evolved around Charlie. One of my favorite stories was the one where Charlie had a convertible Cadillac. His father who basically threw him away insisted on taking a picture of himself in the car. Charlie, let him take the picture and never said a word. That was classic Charlie – a quiet dignity that defined him. I don't know the right words to say as life's events move forward. I do know that to know Charlie is to know a story about him – and I am thankful he never said to me 'I told you so.' To know Charlie, is to know a story about Charlie – and that story is how I got my name – Jew Boy.

In a small Southern town there was a “Nativity Scene” that showed great skill and talent had gone into creating it. One small feature bothered me. The three wise men were wearing firemen’s helmets. Totally unable to come up with a reason or explanation, I left. At a “Quick Stop” on the edge of town, I asked the lady behind the counter about the helmets. She exploded into a rage, yelling at me, “You Yankees never do read the Bible!” I assured her that I did, but simply couldn’t recall anything about firemen in the Bible. She jerked her Bible from behind the counter and ruffled through some pages, and finally jabbed her finger at a passage. Sticking it in my face she said, “See, it says right here, ‘The three wise man came from afar.’”

Hi Everyone ! This has been another busy event month and a special month to commemorate our Vets of all services who honorably served our country ! Our community had several ceremonies going on, wish i could have attended them all, but the few I attended- was so great to see the appreciative and smiling faces of our Vets! The BBT Ctr. of Sunrise honored the Vets w. a Virtual flight to our Nations Capital. The organization flies Vets to see the memorials built in their honor, but since many can no longer travel the festivities were brought to them on the big screen! What a kool way to experience this event! Our community of South Fl. is fully dedicated to the Vets. Also attended a 50+ Legion rider Event on the Plaza of BTT Ctr. before a Fl. Panthers hockey game. It was an "ALL Posts night & Veterans Night" to support our Vets & Legion Posts. The Color guard was also in attendance and the Am.Legn. was the featured group shown on the Big score board during the game - the entire event was a sight to behold! Many Hurricane relief events have been taking place all over south Fl. & the Keys, so took a ride down to the Keys to check it out! There's many stories about hurricane benefits & relief operations, and many businesses who survived the storm - Jimmy Johnson's 'Big Chill' of Key Largo- was one Not hit too hard & has been hosting benefits & feeding first responders. A special 'Ride for Relief' helped the Keys community held by the Cartel Baggers of Miami & Ft. Lauderdale to Jimmy Johnson's Big Chill, Hundreds of bikers rode to the Keys to bring necessary supplies & collect funds for for local families & community responders. The first stop tho, was to check out Gilberts Resort 'The largest Tiki bar' in the Keys, where there's always something fun going on & live music everyday ! What a comeback (like so many other businesses)

*Conch strong ! Gilberts reopened on Sept 29th less than three weeks after hurricane Irma. Gilberts staff & management (sum good friends of mine - grt job JG!) accomplished gut wrenching cleanup work in just three weeks - if you didnt know any better you couldn't even tell they were almost under water which was pictured on the cover of the national edition of the NY Post ! Looks Beautiful & in full swing of thingsas seen by the huge turnout of 500+ bikes for the Heathens MC Annual party - great Music playing by popular 3RG ! Also got to check on Robbies who had massive dock damage- all has been replaced & like so many 'better than ever'- more expansive and oh yea, lotsa Tarpons waiting for a bite! Met up with the East coast Indian Rep. 'Jessie' happy to see us & have FT update & Happy to be in the Keys ! Met up with alot of bussiness people along the wayeveryone had their story to tell - damage & remodeling efforts to show off ! The Fish Company in Islamorada was very excited about the upcoming Keys FT Poker run for hurricane relief in Jan.20th- Roads are clear - businesses are open & anxious for tourists & visitors to travel through & have a bite to eat - a drink or two & stay awhile ! So lets support the Keys & help them in their rebuilding efforts !! ** Remember to mark your calendar for the Ft. Lauderdale 30th Annual SFPC Toys in the Sun Run- Dec. 10th -Hope to see you there! That's it for now - more from KJs Korner next month! Lets enjoy the ride & keep the rubber on the road! ** If you would like to advertise Please contact me @ KJ.FullThrottleMag@gmail.com - South Florida & Miami

first off I would like to thank Tony and the Full Throttle family for giving me this opportunity. I mean literally one of the coolest things I have ever done. I'm very excited to be working with some really awesome people and being part of the motorcycle community. Now let's talk bikes. The 21st anniversary party for Full Throttle magazine was a complete hit. Congratulations guys and gals! I mean who could go wrong with loud bikes great food and beautiful women. St Pete bike fest was the real deal. It was absolutely killer. Just checking out some of the baddest Baggers I've ever seen was enough for me. We had outstanding weather and meeting some pretty great people the weekend

TROLLING FOR A GOOD TIME

The Winter months in Florida bring big surprises when it comes to inshore fishing in Tampa Bay like monster Gag Grouper, Snook and Tarpon. Yes, you heard me right, you can catch all of these species and more right now in Tampa Bay slow trolling in about 20 feet of water. As the water temps cool off the bait and smaller fish move inshore, guess who is right behind them Gag Grouper. I have always heard about folks trolling in the bay for Grouper but I had to check it out first hand for myself. You have read some of my stories about taking an 80 mile run off-shore to catch some big Grouper well right now you can catch them in Tampa Bay. Trolling in the Bay is pretty easy to be honest, here is a list of things you need. Get a Rod with a 4/O Reel, you will need a #3 Planer, 3 and 4 oz Lead Heads with a 6 inch curly tail Pumpkin Jig, that’s my personal favorite. The diversity of fish you will catch will amaze you, we caught 5 different species Trolling with this set up. Right away we started catching some short Gag Grouper and then they started getting bigger before the night was over we caught that big 14 lbs. Gag Grouper, he was a fighter. My

daughter Hudson “jumped” a 150 lbs. Tarpon that launched himself about 5 feet in the air then almost landed in the boat. We came across a school of Tarpon after that and she started hooking a few smaller Tarpon and several Spanish Mackerel. I proceeded to catch a really nice 31 inch Snook that I took a quick photo with and released back into the Bay to catch another day. I was amazed at the diversity of the fish you can catch in the Bay right now and really how simple it was. We did not hook any on our trip but there are also some monster Kingfish in the Bay and around the Skyway right now that are great to smoke and make some Holiday Fish dip for everyone. For a great day on the water go slow Trolling in the Bay you won’t regret it and you might catch some pretty amazing fish.
