June is here and that means it’s going to get hot and humid around here! Please remember to drink lots of water when you are out riding these next few months. And if you stop somewhere, try and get a little AC so you don’t over heat yourself. Heat exhaustion or dehydration is not something to play around with. Be safe and be smart out there and keep your eyes open for
those crazy cage drivers. Our Full Throttle Soaked and Sore Ass poker run is this month on June 11th. This is always a great ride and this year will not be any less. We will be traveling down 41 to US 1 and ending in Marathon Key. We are starting in Palmetto, which is over the Skyway from where we usually start in St. Pete but we needed to try and save a little time as we are going farther into the keys than we ever have before. I know, at this moment in time, we have over 60 rooms booked and over 100 people at the end stop, the Holiday Inn Express. I also know people have booked rooms at other places in the area. So we are looking at somewhere between 150 – 200 people on this great ride this year. If you would like to go on this ride just remember to book your room in advance and our host hotel is already sold out. We hope to see everyone on this great ride. Single hands are $35 and couples are $60. Each person gets a poker hand, t-shirt, patch and certificate at the end of the ride. For info call our offices at 727-935-4875. Full Throttle is here to help you and your business. Have you ever wanted to start a bike night at your place? Now we can help you do that and make it very affordable! For a base price of $500…. We can…. Get you a half page ad in the magazine promoting your bike night, get you a DJ for the evening to play music, get you an emcee for the evening to keep the event flowing, get you 3 trophies for bikes of the night, 5,000 ¼ page flyers to promote your bike night and we can also help get vendors and sponsors. There are other packages that can get you live bands, biker games, stunt shows and much more to draw people to your establishment. If you are interested in starting a bike night or any other event call us at 727-935-4875 and we will come over and sit with you and figure out what you are looking to put on and we will help you make it happen! We are starting a new page, and by the looks of it, it will be a big hit. We are looking for your “Biker Selfies” when you are out riding or at events. Please send us your selfies with a brief caption and we will do our best to get them printed in the magazine each month. I posted about this on our Facebook page and had over 100 pictures sent in, so if we didn’t get yours in this month, be looking because we are saving them all and will do our best to print them in our future issues…. We love our fans and biker family! Send us your selfies to tonyc@floridafullthrottle.com! Father’s day is this month also so don’t forget those dads’ in your life that bust their asses to make sure there is food in the fridge, a roof over head and the bills are paid. I would like to say Happy Father’s Day to all the dad’s I know, especially all the Paul’s in my family…LOL yes, all the Pauls. Paul Allen (my dad) Paul Frank (my grandfather) Paul Michael (my brother) Paul Eastman (my father-in-law) and also Chris and Dan, Happy Father’s Day guys, much love to all!!! I would also like to say Happy Birthday to my older Brother Paul Michael and to my daughter Ashlynn, Love you beanie TTMAB!!! Be safe, be smart, don’t drink and ride and I’ll see you soon! STRAWBERRIES MY LOVE!!!

The Right Gear for the Time of Year Way back in 1974 I rode a friends Sportster from the Bronx, NY to Key West, FL. I made the trip in two and a half days. Here’s the dumb part. I left NY at the end of February. Wait, it gets worse. The day I left happened to be a sunny day with the temps in the mid 50’s. In my mind, I figured spring was here. So, when my friend, who wisely drove his pickup to Florida called and said the temps in Key West were in the 80’s. “I need my bike down here. Can ya hook me up”? At the time I had a 350cc Honda and I was anxious to take a long ride on my buddy’s new Sporty. Up to that point, I had only taken it around the block. So of course, without a 2nd thought, I said sure I can ride it down for you. The fact that I didn’t have any cold weather gear, never entered my mind. So, I put on a ski jacket, a sweat shirt, jeans, my work boots, a ¾ helmet, my best brown cotton work gloves, and I was good to go. I filled a knapsack with some shorts and a couple of t-shirts to wear in Key West. Though the mid 50’s temps were a little cool as I left the Bronx at the break of noon, I figured since I’d be heading south, it could only get warmer. Remember, there was no weather channel back then. In fact there wasn’t even any cable TV. Had I checked the local forecast on the news, I would have found out the short warm spell was over and that very night it would be in the 20’s. Not as if that would have stopped me. But maybe, I would have put a few more sweat shirts in that knapsack. By the time I hit D.C. it had dipped into the 30’s. My face was frozen. My hands were completely numb despite the fact that I alternated putting one hand then the other on the cylinder heads. Since I hit D.C. at the height of the rush hour, traffic was bumper to bumper. The good news was at 3 MPH the wind chill wasn’t a factor. But since it was in the 30’s I was still freezing. I pulled into a rest stop and bought a newspaper which I stuffed into my sweat shirt and the thigh portion of my jeans. I then took my boots off and put them on the muffler to warm them up. Next I emptied the knapsack, put on another pair of socks and put a t-shirt over my head and around my face and made a hole for my eyes. Okay I thought. That’s better. As I got back on 95 the traffic cleared a bit. I was hoping to make it to South Carolina before stopping for the night but somewhere around the Virginia border a state trooper pulled me over. He said I was weaving quite a bit and not keeping up with traffic. I now realize I was in the hypothermia but I didn’t know it then. The trooper must have noticed my shivering and teeth chattering and let me warm up in his car for a few minutes. He then had me follow him to a nearby motel where I spent the night trying desperately to get warm. The 1st part of my trip was a nightmare. The next morning I headed to a K-Mart. I bought a ski mask, 2 hooded sweat shirts, and a parka to put over my ski jacket. I also go a decent pair of gloves. I still froze until I hit Orlando where the weather finally got into the 60’s. As the weather warmed and I started taking off some layers, I began to realize the Sportster wasn’t exactly a good long distance motorcycle. At any speed above 50 MPH it vibrated so bad my hands and feet became numb after an hour of riding. The seat was killing me as well. When I got to Key West and met with my friend, he said “You lucky dog. You got to ride all the way down here”. He then said, “But I’m riding it back. You can take the truck”. I of course quickly agreed. After hearing of my frozen adventure though, he decided to follow me on the bike through FL and the load it on the truck around the Georgia line. That’s exactly what we did. Don’t be like some stupid kid on a Sportster in February. If you want to enjoy the ride in cold weather, get a full-faced helmet, some heated gloves, a heated jacket, thermal underwear, and even heated socks. Last but not least, get a bagger. You’ll need the extra storage. With the right gear you’ll avoid hypothermia and you’ll actually enjoy the ride. According to the April Federal Open Market Committee meeting minutes, policy makers appear well positioned to argue in favor of a rate increase as early as next month should conditions continue to improve back toward “moderate.” However, while Committee members are not looking for a solid, or strong, or robust economy, even gaining momentum back towards “moderate” from the current “slow(ed)” pace of activity will be a challenge for the still-fragile U.S. economy. Bottom Line: The market has continuously discounted the possibility of an additional rate hike until the end of the year; however, the April Federal Open Market Committee meeting minutes suggest the market may be severely underestimating the possibility of a further removal of accommodation, and soon. If the incoming economic data continues in line with “moderate” improvement, the Fed is more than willing to continue raising interest rates and adhere to the Committee’s commitment to a “gradual” pace of hikes. After all, come June it will have been six months since liftoff; many would argue six months in-between rate hikes is about as “gradual” as it gets. Still, as many policy makers have reiterated, the Fed will first and foremost do what’s right for the economy. If the data suggest continued weakness, the Fed will be forced to remain on the sideline, “gradual” commitment or not. However, if the economy improves back to “moderate” with Committee members’ still heighten expectations of future improvement in place, a near-term rate increase will be increasingly difficult to bypass. At present, the markets appear at odds with the Fed’s relatively positive assessment of the economy and thus the Committee’s ability to continue to raise rates once, if at all this year. The market and the Fed may be looking at different data or simply looking at the data through a different lens. In either case, there is clearly a growing divide not between policy officials themselves, but between what the market and
26
policy makers see as a potential pathway for rates. Come June, someone is going to be surprised… With slow economic growth and numbers not meeting expectations it is more important than ever to be on top of your gain when it comes to knowing how and where your money is invested. Your future and your retirement depend on it. I personally don’t see another rate hike being justified, as it will affect the average American more than the wealthy and they are the ones that vote to get our political officials reelected. With the election looming in just a few months there will be more curves in the road ahead in the financial markets than we have seen in a long time. With the Department of Labor now putting fiduciary rulings in place, it may take away the advice the average person can now get for free. So now more than ever let us look at your entire financial situation. Don’t be caught by surprise. Just like riding on your motorcycle or in your specialty vintage car, you must know the road ahead. Give us a call and at least get a handle on what the road ahead may look like for your financial future. "IFS Securities, Inc. requests that you do not transmit orders by e-mail. A man from Texas buys a round of drinks for everyone in the bar as he announces his wife has just produced “A typical Texas baby boy weighing twenty pounds.” Congratulations shower all around, and many exclamations of ‘wow!’ are heard. Two weeks later he returns to the bar. The bartender says, ‘Say, you’re the father of the typical Texas baby that weighed twenty pounds at birth, aren’t you? How much does the baby weigh now?’ The proud father answers, ‘fifteen pounds.’ The bartender is puzzled. ‘Why? What happened? He already weighed twenty pounds at birth.’ The Texas father takes a slow sip from his beer, wipes his lips on his shirt sleeve, leans over to the bartender and proudly announces, ‘Had him circumcised..... ************************* My friend’s wife got naked and asked him “what turns you on more? My pretty face or my sexy body?” He said he looked her up and down for a moment and replied, “Your sense of humor.” And that all he remembers............... ******************
A young man saw an elderly couple sitting down to lunch at McDonald’s. He noticed that they had ordered one meal, and an extra drink cup. As he watched, the gentleman carefully divided the hamburger in half, then counted out the fries, one for him, one for her, until each had half of them. Then he poured half of the soft drink into the extra cup and set that in front of his wife. The old man then began to eat, and his wife sat watching, with her hands folded in her lap. The young man decided to ask if they would allow him to purchase another meal for them so that they didn’t have to split theirs. The old gentleman said, “Oh no. We’ve been married 50 years, and everything has always been and will always be shared, 50/50.” The young man then asked the wife if she was going to eat. She replied, “Not yet. It’s his turn with the teeth.” *****************

So he picked up the rifle and looked through the sight in the direction of his house.
A man went to his doctor and said he needed lots of Viagra. “My girlfriend is coming over on Friday, my ex-wife on Saturday and my ex-girlfriend on Sunday.” “That’s an awful lot of Viagra,” said the dock. “I’ll have to check you on Monday.” Monday morning the man came in with his arm in a sling. “What happened” said the doc. “No one showed up!” the man said *************** A man is sitting next to a woman who is trying to breast-feed her baby on the bus. The baby refuses to suck the breast and the young mother warns, “If you don’t suck, I will give it to the man next to me.” The baby still refuses. After 20 minutes, the woman repeats the “threat.” The man clears his throat and says: “Look here young lady, you better make up your mind. I was supposed to get off the bus six stops ago!” ************* Two old friends were just about to tee off at the first hole of their local golf course when a guy carrying a golf bag called out to them, “Do you mind if I join you? My partner didn’t show up.” “Sure,” they said, “You’re welcome.” So they started playing and enjoyed the game and the company of the newcomer. Part way around the course, one of the friends asked the newcomer, “What do you do for a living?” “I’m an assassin, a hit man,” was the reply. “You’re joking!” was the response. “No, I’m not,” he said, reaching into his golf bag, and pulling out a beautiful Martini sniper’s rifle with a large telescopic sight. “Here are my tools.” “That’s a beautiful telescopic sight,” said the other friend, “Can I take a look? I think I might be able to see my house from here.”
“Yeah, I can see my house all right. This sight is fantastic. I can see right in the window.” “Wow, I can see my wife in the bedroom. Ha Ha, I can see she’s naked!! Wait a minute, that’s my neighbor in there with her..... He’s naked, too!!!” He turned to the hit man, “How much do you charge for a hit?” “I’ll do a flat rate, for you, one thousand dollars every time I pull the trigger.” “Can you do two for me now?” “Sure, what do you want?” “First, shoot my wife, she’s always been mouthy, so shoot her in the mouth.” “Then the neighbor, he’s a friend of mine, so just shoot his dick off to teach him a lesson.” The hit man took the rifle and took aim, standing perfectly still for a few minutes. “Are you going to do it or not?” said the friend impatiently. “Just be patient,” said the hit man calmly, “I think I can save you a grand here...” ****************** A blonde called her boyfriend and said, “Please come over here and help me. I have a killer jigsaw puzzle, and I can’t figure it out or how to get it started.” Her boyfriend asked, “What is it supposed to be when it’s finished?” The blonde said, :According to the picture on the box, it’s a tiger.” Her boyfriend decided to go over and help with the puzzle. She let him in and showed him where she had the puzzle spread out all over the table. He studied the pieces for a moment, looked at the box, then turned to her and said, “First of all, no matter what we do, we’re not going to be able to assemble these pieces into anything resembling a tiger.” He took her hand and said, “Second, I want you to relax. Let’s have a nice cup of hot chocolate and then.....,” he sighed,......”let’s put all of these frosted flakes back into the box.”

Hi All, It's that time again to recap the last month and what's coming up. It's getting hot and wet hopefully you are staying dry while you are out on a run or at an event. The Tuck A Buck run was another success thanks to the clubs and riders that participated. The Le Gumbo bike night was fun, not a lot of bikes, but it was their first bike night! You really should head over there and try out their gumbo and they have plenty of other great selections on their menu. The Bud Run was an event that you should have been at. It's a very touching event especially when the beneficiary and their family is there. There were several auction items - signed guitars, Lightening play off items, neon lights & mirrors - people were very generous with their bids!! Also there was the 50/50 which ended with a $1,000 pot which Dave & Robin won and gave all of it back the the family! If more of you would turn out the Bud Run would be able to support more than 1 family! These families are in need and the support they get from the biking community is very much appreciated by them. We didn't' make it to the Clearwater Thrashers game but the pictures I saw looked like they had a great time. Hope to see you on the Soaked & Sore Ass Run June 11th. Until then live life to the fullest and party your a$$ off.... Dew 42

Welcome bikers to the Back Yard. June is here and summer is hotter than ever. Bike events are cranking up all over the place. From Ohio to Sturgis, from Cotee River to Daytona. So bikers, now’s the time to make those plans and hit the road for fun on the bikes. If you want to stay close to home bike nights are everywhere here in the Tampa Bay area, just check out the Cruisin’ Calendar for all your bike night information. If you looking for that summer Iron Ass Road trip well there are plenty of bike rallies to go to. Of course, June is Ohio Bike Week up in Sandusky, Ohio and also in June is one of my favorite rallies to put 44
on your bucket list. The Republic of Texas Rally in Austin Tx. Late in the summer, the big one, Sturgis Black Hills Rally in August, Florida Full Throttle will be at Buffalo Chip, and in September is another of my favorite rallies Thunder in The Rockies in Loveland Colorado. So bikers get out there and ride, be safe and Look Twice, Save A Life. And remember, Always Keep Your Stick On The Ice. Mongo.

Aloha it’s Laurie Jo (L J) Higgins from Anna Maria! OK , I’ll be honest I am still in second gear on the riding thing…It’s a whole different mindset than stock car racing … instead of being the aggressive driver I had to do a 180 and become the defensive one and now I actually have some fear, maybe that is a good thing. I have stopped drafting cars on the way to work due to learning to ride. Yep I was one of those. Sorry… This month we had so many Full Throttle events that were a blast ( Loved playing with “Koko Ray and the Kreepers” thanks for asking me in )and I am looking forward to what June holds, keep checking our Facebook page! And please call me if you want your own events promoted , I would love to write about your business or help you do a live stream event/bike night…lets go Florida I’m ready! We are also planning and looking for sponsors for our first ever Full Throttle/ Tampa Bay Rays Bike Night. We had to change the date to give our bikers the best perks…The new improved date is Friday July 15th, see our ad! Pictured above Laurie, Beautiful Loretta Young and the infamous Murphy’s! Evel with his sister Loretta. Well I found another hidden gem on Anna Maria Island…” Evel Knievel’s” younger sister Loretta young!!! He has always been an inspiration to me, I got a couple jobs the same way he did after watching his documentary years back .I used to say “ I pulled an “Evel Knievel”… note to current boss Tony : you may be or have been the recipient of being” Knieveled….” And sorry now I am even better after this interview! As I sat down at Sean Murphy’s world renowned five star ” Beach Bistro” , admiring the ocean view with Evels beautiful sister “Loretta Young” this strikingly beautiful woman, I had no idea she was more exciting than Evel himself. Yes that’s possible it runs in the genes. From a simple life starting out as grandchildren of Ellis Island Irish immigrants who all migrated to Butte MT to life at in Reno/Vegas , years at Graceland with boyfriend Elvis Presley( yes she did!), She was the jewel of Beverly Hills.…lucky for us now she considers Anna Maria Island her home. Despite Evels Mother “Ann Marie Keough” never setting foot on the island, the family felt her presence the moment they came here and eventually

moved here. Evel being close by in Clearwater it all felt right. Her daughter Shellie Young of (Sotheby’s Intl)) calls the island home too. After a couple glasses of wine (thank you Mr. Murphy), I asked her to tell me a few things not written or widely known about their childhood and Evel( Bob)… here is what I got in the simplified version… because there is absolutely nothing simple about this family. I asked if there was there ever a dream Evel had he always wanted to do, but was out of reach? Answer No. Nothing was out of reach. If he wanted to do it he figured out a way. From hockey to painting to being a world class skier if he dreamt it, he did it. That began a conversation on how much of an entrepreneur he was as a young kid …This comes from His Mother “Ann” who had her own entrepreneurial spirit and creativity (and as they say behind every great man….), as well as his father passing down his incredible mind for calculations and the engineering that Evel did himself through most of his career. It was also noted that he got his lack of fear from both parents. Did Evel gamble with all the time spent in Vegas/Reno? Yes. He bet on anything and everything. Even when golfing. He would cover golf balls with something sweet and bet people a fly would land on his ball, he loved to gamble and loved to win! He bet on everything! Loretta never got on the bike with him because he scared her, but at age 9 she did take a rare ride with him, after a bit he said “hold on sis”… she knew what that meant…she held on closed her eyes and opened them to see they had jumped over the anaconda mine…which let’s just say its HUGE! …she ran home and told Mom… grounded again. Another gem I got was that all three of his jewel studded canes screwed apart to reveal vials of Wild Turkey. Hard not to smile at that image. Then there was the story of him getting 6 months jail but getting work furlough so he sent limos to the jail every day so all the inmates furloughed could ride in style too and not hold it against him. I could fill the entire magazine with this family’s stories… my advice come by and say hello yourself. Loretta will be an honored guest at something fun that will be of much interest to all of us Motorcycle enthusiasts. The only details I can give, this is something on Anna Maria Island you do not want to miss. Full Throttle will be there…that’s all I can say look for details in July issue! My last question…Evel died young from complications due to his liver transplant… Did he have any regrets, things he did not finish? The answer from his sister…Evel wished he had come to know Jesus during his lifetime and not just at the end when he knew he was dying….Clearly Jesus knew Evel. Favorite quote: LIVE HARD < LIVE FAST <AND GO OUT AS A GOOD LOOKING CORPSE. Evel Knievel.

We were ridin’…just chillin and feelin’ the wind in our face, not a care in the world…when all of a sudden, I felt something go … c…l…u… n…k. When we stopped to check it out, it was the kickstand spring. It came loose (actually was just hanging there) and wouldn’t support my 2007 Purple Sportster. SO… we were nearby (about 20 miles) from LAKELAND HARLEY-DAVIDSON and the very nice gentlemen (Curly, Service Mgr., Mike Lee & Lale Bernard were all smiles and Aaron Blanks got right on it to fix it for me! (Aaron then performed maintenance on the women’s restroom… from Harley Technician to janitor? They do it ALL at Lakeland HD!) WOWEE, what a relief! With that fixed and my “LUCY” all back to normal, we enjoyed a feast put on by the HOG Chapter of Lakeland HD (cheeseburgers, hot dogs, chips, and drinks). The band was rockin! So, it was this incident that inspired me to write about… LAKELAND HARLEY-DAVIDSON 4202 Lakeland Hills Blvd. Lakeland, FL 33805 863-802-1971 Facebook: LakelandHarleyDavidson Instagram: LakelandHD www.LakelandHarley.com Not to be confused with Harley-Davidson of Lakeland. No sirree! They didn’t want to confuse the public, so they kept the name sort of similar. LAKELAND HARLEY-DAVIDSON has been in business since December 2, 2015. But you should see this place! It’s amazing! SOOOO many bikes. I didn’t count them, but bikes as far as the store is wide. And the attitude of EVERYONE there is unbelievable! Where else can you go that you’re greeted with a smile (and not just a fake one)…because employees ENJOY what they’re doing! And it shows! You can just “feel” it when going into this Harley-Davidson dealership. I
got the chance to sit down with Shealyn Raulerson (what a beautiful name!), Mkt. Mgr. for an interview. She is so outgoing and energetic! Shealyn has been working for HD for 3 years (when it was HD of Lakeland), and worked her way up to Marketing Manager (she was Motor clothes Mgr.). Shealyn (28) and Kathy McKenzie, GM came up with this unique idea… TEXT BLASTS! You send LHD to 60259 on your smart phone, and you’re all set. I won’t give out the specials…You will just have to see for yourself! It’s pretty neat idea… how creative! Shealyn is from an action sports background and just loves motorcycles…”it’s just a thrill, being on one, around them, the wind in your hair…” It’s that kind of thing where if you have to explain… Answering the question of what makes you different than most HD dealerships, Shealyn replies “a lot of things…The environment when you come in is like coming into our family. We are HERE for THEM, the riders and people who want to ride. How can WE make their riding experience all that it can be. We fulfill dreams of
58
personal freedom and make it easy to ride. Just being there every step of the way. Especially with all the women taking the Riding Academy Class…watching their journey, buying their first motorcycle …that’s what it is all about! LAKELAND HARLEY-DAVIDSON gives back to the community by helping different organizations too! In addition to the local HOG chapter running the hamburgers & hot dogs stand on Saturday and Sunday, they also let riding groups and different organizations take over and the tips go to that organization or rider group! You have a vast variety of Harley’s to choose from when you go to LAKELAND HARLEY-DAVIDSON. But, if you can’t find the Harley of your dreams, not to worry…they can order it for you out of their sister store in Fayetteville, NC (FORT BRAGG HARLEY-DAVIDSON). Up to 60 employees have the pleasure of working at LAKELAND-HARLEYDAVIDSON. I got to take pictures of about ½ of them. They truly are like family…You can’t fake those smiles. I know Daryl Tarket, sales (who came from Brandon, HD) who is THRILLED beyond belief to be part of their family. They have a FULL SERVICE Department with SIX Technicians, Service Support Staff, drivers, two Service Writers, Service Manager and Assistant… Their future plans are to KEEP GROWING! Shaun Sikat, Sales Mgr. (who came down from FORT BRAGG HD) is very excited to be here in Lakeland! LAKELAND HD is a sponsor of PLANT CITY BIKE FEST (quarterly) and of Zephyrhills Music and Motorcycles (twice per year). Shaun takes over answering the rest of my interview questions: What is your greatest achievement? “Growing up with Harley! I started off as a sales associate, worked my way up to a Team Lead, and now as GM of Sales. I get to wake up in the morning and go sell Harley-Davidson’s all day!” Yeah, what could be better than that? IF you HAD to work…After all, it’s in his blood. Shaun has been selling motorcycles all his life (his parents owned a Kawasaki dealership in Zephyrhills). At age 13, he was selling. Shaun has been a rider for 20 years. 12 years ago, he came over to the Harley world and has never looked back. Shaun’s biggest regret is NOT starting with HARLEY-DAVIDSON sooner! On average, LAKELAND HARLEY sells about 80 bikes! But with that comes dedication to taking care of their customers and making sure they have the best satisfaction possible. When answering the question of what’s the most common mistake new motorcycle shops make, Shaun’s reply was “NOT listening to their customers!” First bike? Kawasaki KX-50 when Shaun was 9 years old Overall FAVORITE bike? 2016 Street Glide! “The one I ride now…its Charcoal Denim…all blacked out...” (Sweet ride indeed!). “We’re just happy to be HERE in Lakeland, taking care of the community and looking forward to the years to come!” In wrapping up my story, it’s really true the changes you see at the all new LAKELAND HARLEY-DAVIDSON! They REALLY do take care of their customers. SO why don’t YOU stop by! **** Til next issue, Nancy p., Full Throttle rep. Ride Safe, and RIDE WHENEVER YOU CAN!
