I would first like to say a big THANK YOU to everyone who has come up and congratulated me on our new venture. It is very exciting to own your own company, and a little frightening at times. We have moved our Full Throttle Offices and home base to our new location on the second floor next to Capt'n Jacks Restaurant in Tarpon Springs. We are talking with them about a possible bike night and a office grand opening and viewing party in the near future so stay tuned! Our new office address is 39 Oscar Hill Road, Tarpon Springs, FL 34689. The May issue is our first issue from our new location and we are very excited! Have you also noticed our slight new change on the cover? We are going to try and mix it up a little and make the cover a little more modern. Full Throttle is also planning on doing a lot more local Tampa Bay Bike Nights. We are starting a new one with Sea Dog Brewing Co. on Tuesday nights starting May 7th. They are doing what other HUGE bike nights do and are having a special place for bikes to park and you can drinking the parking lot! This is going to turn into a huge bike night so come on out and have some fun. We will also be at Coyote Ugly in Ybor City on Thursday Nights! This place is awesome! If you noticed the cover, the girls there are pretty hot and will also kick your ass if you get out of line! Special thanks to Steve Galvin and Will Robertson for having their bikes there for the photo shoot. I would also like to thank unleashed designs for the wardrobe, our makeup girls and of course our photographer GAMO ROBLES who took some great pictures! Created for people who want to maintain their employment despite their significant disability, program provides the personal care services the individual needs to get out bed, dressed and ready for work. • Florida Association of Centers for Independent Living (CILs). CILs are cross disability organizations that provide independent living skills training, peer -mentoring, information and referral and advocacy. It was the CIL in Palm Beach, Coalition for Independent Living Options(CILO) that helped Charlie and Debbie navigate the world of disability. “I was totally lost in terms of how I was going to get from point A to point B. I’d lost my job as a CDL tractor trailer driver, I had no income, I couldn’t get on SSDI despite an amputation above the knee, I couldn’t drive at first.” Charlie said. “ This was my first time ever dealing with disability – I don’t know what we would have done had we not had CILO to take our hand and guide us along the process.” Debbie said. Funds that the CIL receives from the Bikers Care Tag are used to pay for staff and equipment that help people gain or regain their independence. Charlie’s journey to regain his independence started the day he awoke from his coma “They told me I didn’t have a right leg and I didn’t believe them, even when I was looking at it,” Charlie said. “When the meds wore off I accepted it.” He was also told that he could get prosthetic leg, but he would not be able to walk without crutches and that he shouldn’t ride. That, he would not accept. From his hospital bed, with the support of his fiancée he bought a new bike, later he would to walk without crutches and four months after the accident Debbie and Charlie were married. Once the immediate crisis of the accident over, it was time for them to face the next challenge: day to day life with disability. With help from the CIL Charlie worked to regain his independence, which he knew, was going to be important to maintaining his marriage. “Before the accident we worked all week and lived for the weekend when we could get on our bikes and ride,” Debbie said. “I know this is not what she signed up for, but, I can’t imagine what it would have been like without

her by my side.” And, she’s still by his side, at home and on her Dyna Low Rider. Debbie laughs, “He keeps up with us.” Charlie explains, “I have a special prosthetic leg that allows me to support the bike. Before I got it the bike would fall over on me. Luckily there were usually people around to pull it off of me.” In addition to his Heritage soft-tail Nostalgia he also has a Harley 2011 TriGlide. Through it all Charlie maintains a positive attitude and strives to give back. He’s currently the Vice President of the Board of Directors of the Coalition for Independent Living and he’s the Safety Director of Education of ABATE of Florida Inc, both volunteer positions. “To anybody with a disability I say get up and do something – don’t sit on the couch.” Every year people like Charlie get a little bit of help from the organizations that get funding from the Bikers Care Tag. Us girls in Pasco haven’t held an event in a long time and so by the time this issue comes out we will have done the “Save A Man Ride For The Gland” for Prostate Cancer. It started at Venom’s 2, and ended at Venom’s 1, at Back Room Bar and Grill with The Roy Sites band playing music, I hope we have a good turnout, We did our civic duty serving beer and wine at the Chasco Festival April 11th and 13th its all for charity, well we do get to have fun with the Sertoma group, all tips going back to Sertoma. We had help from our husbands and friends. Welcome to the back yard. As we head into summer time bikers or out on the roads more than ever. April was a great moth to be a biker here in Florida. Some great events in the Central Florida area brought bikes in from all around. I started the month off with one my events I look so forward to every year. The Pinellas Special Olympics Poker Run. We had the Special Olympics torch come thru as it makes its way around the state on its way to Orlando for the Special Olympics. The kids had a blast working the event s they always do. Then it was Run with the big dogs. Always a great bike event to help find homes for Greyhounds and other dogs. Wings of Hope Cancer Team was great day at Quaker Steak and Lube. We raise a lot of money for the American Cancer Society and I even had my hair cut to help a friend that is battling cancer. Hi All, Just sat down to write what was has been going on in the Full Throttle life. You may know Tony is the new owner of Full Throttle Magazine and we will be doing more new thing with the magazine. One of them is the look of it…. didn’t any of you notice the new style of front cover? We are going to bring more bike events and bike nights for you to choose from in the area. Some of them are Coyote Ugly bike night in Tampa, Sea Dog Brewing bike night in Clearwater, and Sandy’s Hideaway bike night in Sarasota. I am really looking forward to the new bike nights at Sea Dog Brewing. It’s going to be Tuesday nights starting in May and I will be there representing Full Throttle so come on out!! Tony and the Full Throttle team will be going out to help find some new places for the biker community to pick from. If you know me and Anne, we like to go out to find different things to do. So we went to a concert to see one of the best guitarists to rock the building like he did. The legendary Dick Dale. He put on the best show!!! The opening act was the Hodaddy’s and then a band most of you know - Jeff Vitolo & the Quarter Mile Rebels. It was an awesome evening!! I didn’t hear too well for a day or two but it was well worth it. Now for my movie review… We went to see the movie Pain and Gain – with Mark Wahlberg & Dwayne Johnson. The movie is a true story with the lead actors looking to get money the easy way. The trio are ‘meat head’ body builders with the lead one comes up with a plan to take a wealthy client for everything. From there the plan goes sideways. I am not sure I would spend money to go see it but maybe wait till it comes out on cable. Till next time live life to the fullest and party you’re a$$ off …DEW

About 15 or 16 years ago I went to a swap meet at Fletchers HD when they used to have it back in the weeds. They used to run a bush hog thru there to cut the head high weeds down. I had been doing the swap meet in Daytona a few times a year, the Jam On Productions one. I would go to the one at Fletchers and I really enjoyed it – people set up tailgates and for a $1 donation you could get a cold drink or a beer. I heard that there was someone giving away magazines next to me. There was a good looking chick giving them away and as far as I know that was the first issue. It was Tracy and Paul. Before that magazine, there was one called Kickstart but it is out of business. I looked in the Full Throttle and saw an event a month out. I went to that one and ran into Paul and Tracy again. Then I met Gypsy. Then after that an acquaintance of mine, Louie AKA Gorilla Louie started selling ads. He was from out of town. I was helping him get around and sell ads. Pretty soon I was helping to deliver truckloads of books. Then Gypsy

asked me to write articles – I told him I was not a writer especially not with a 6th grade education. Things were really coming along – there were lots of parties and events. Then one day Big Al walked up to me and told me your article will be in the next issue so you better write what you want or you will not like what we put in. He handwrote my articles for me but he had a business in NY and when he left for the season I had to hand write them myself. I had to hand write the articles and took it to the office and the girl would retype them and make it politically correct. Tracy told her to leave them alone – Politically Incorrect is who Charlie is. People who read it that way I thank you. I started getting pictures in the magazines with lots of beautiful girls. One day someone asked if they could take a picture with the good looking girl in the distance. It was Tracy, the owner of the magazine. I have been places where they didnt know Paul but they knew me. I want to thank them from making me so popular. Back in the beginning there was people like Captain Jack and there was no office building – we used to get together on Pauls back porch and talk about things. Gypsy was a heck of a salesman – he did a lot for

the magazine thru the years – made a lot of friends. I went to the doctor with Gypsy and he told him he better do something about his diabetes. He didnt and died a few years alter. Through the years there must have been 40 or 50 people who came thru the magazine. I remember I had an ad sold and the person called the magazine and the person answering the phone took my commission. Then I realized that I would not get wealthy selling ads. No more commissions for me. There have been other people that have come along and have hung around and helped and had fun. Georgia Boy has been around for 7 or 8 years. A lot of people know who he is and enjoy knowing him and knowing he is involved – I enjoy him helping me. I guess as it stands now the magazine has been turned over to Pauls son Tony and of course things will change. It looks like Big Al and I are the oldest and longest tenured people at the magazine. Al has been sick lately and I have not been doing well but we are going to try to hang in there. It really makes me feel good to have been involved in the magazine for the past 15/16 years. The 3RD ANNUAL NATURE COAST BIKER BASH was held April 12 thru the 14th. The weather was warm, the ladies were struttin there stuff and the bikes were looking good. Full Throttle Magazine was there in the middle of all the excitment. High Octane was rockin the place with concerts each night and four full liquor bars that were doing there best to keep all the thristy biker folks happy and entertained. If you have been to this FAN-FRICKIN-TASTIC biker heaven than you know what im talkin about! If you havent made it there you best be adding a trip to hommosassa to your flight plan. This place has got it ALL! I mean from Ice Cold Beer and liquor to Tattoos,Food, Three dollar plates of pot roast (which was awsome good),and you can even get your bike serviced while your makin your best moves on some of those hot little hunnys they got working there.Speaking of the hunnys our own Tattooed Carol was there working the

Mission Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month is a national initiative designed to encourage drivers of all other kinds of vehicles and motorcyclists to “share the road” with each other. Now that warmer weather has is right around the corner in most of the country, motorcyclists will soon be out in force. Drivers of cars, trucks and buses are reminded to look out for and share the road with motorcycle riders, and motorcycle riders are reminded to obey traffic laws, wear DOT-compliant helmets and other protective gear, and make themselves visible by wearing bright colors and using reflective tape. Increasing safe riding and cooperation between all road users and motorcyclists will help to reduce the number of fatalities and injuries on our nation’s highways. Share the Road Model Language NHTSA has developed model “Share the Road” language by reviewing material used by motorcycle safety agencies and national organizations that have a vested interest in increasing motorcycle safety. NHTSA identified common themes and language from this material, which effectively conveys the importance of sharing the road safely with motorcyclists. NHTSA encourages local, state, and national organizations to use this model “Share the Road” language in their driver awareness programs:

• Remember that road conditions that are minor annoyances to motorists can pose major hazards to motorcyclists. Motorcycle riders may change speed or adjust position within a lane suddenly in reaction to road and traffic conditions such as potholes, gravel, wet or slippery surfaces, pavement seams, railroad crossings, and grooved pavement. • Allow more following distance -- three or four seconds – when following a motorcycle so the motorcycle rider has enough time to maneuver or stop in an emergency. In dry conditions, motorcycles can stop more quickly than cars. Helmet Use • Use of DOT-compliant motorcycle helmets increased significantly to 66 percent in 2011, up from 54 percent in 2010, based on the National Occupant Protection Use Survey (NOPUS). The NOPUS is the only survey that provides nationwide probability-based observed data on helmet use in the United States and is con-ducted annually by the National Center for Statistics and Analysis of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The 2011 survey also found the following: • The increases in helmet use in 2011 occurred in many motorcyclist groups, including motorcycle riders, in States without universal helmet laws, on surface streets, in rural areas, and during weekends. • Helmet use in the Northeast increased signifi¬cantly to 66 percent in 2011 from 54 percent in 2010. Motorcycles and Alcohol • Impaired driving is one of America’s most-often-committed and deadliest crimes. Overall in 2011, nearly 10,000 people (9,878) were killed in highway crashes involving a driver or motorcycle operator with a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of .08 or higher.

• Road users are reminded to never drive, bike, or walk while distracted. Doing so can result in tragic consequences for motorcyclists. • A motorcycle has the same rights and privileges as any other vehicle on the roadway. • Allow a motorcyclist a full lane width. Although it may seem that there is enough room in the traffic lane for a motor vehicle and a motorcycle, the motorcycle needs the room to maneuver safely. Do not share the lane. • Because motorcycles are small, they can be difficult for other road users to see them, or judge their speed and distance as they approach. • Always signal your intentions before changing lanes or merging with traffic. This allows motorcyclists to anticipate traffic flow and find a safe lane position. • Because of its smaller size, a motorcyclist can be hidden in a vehicle’s blind spot. Always check for motorcycles by checking mirrors and blind spots before entering or leaving a lane of traffic and at intersections. • Don’t be fooled by a flashing turn signal on a motorcycle – motorcycle signals may not be self-canceling and motorcyclists sometimes forget to turn them off. Wait to be sure the rider is going to turn before you proceed.

• The percentage of per se intoxicated motorcycle riders in fatal crashes is greater than the percentage of per se intoxicated drivers of passenger cars, SUV’s or pick-up trucks. The percentages of drivers with BAC levels .08 g/dL or higher in fatal crashes in 2011 were 29 percent for motorcycle riders, 24 percent for passenger cars, and 21 percent for light trucks. The percentage of drivers with BAC levels .08 g/dL or higher in fatal crashes was the lowest for large trucks (1%). • Alcohol affects those skills essential to riding a motorcycle—balance and coordination. So it plays a particularly big role in motorcycle fatalities. • In 2011, 30 percent of all fatally injured motorcycle riders had BAC levels of .08 or higher. An additional 7 percent had alcohol levels of BAC .01 to .07.

• Many motorcyclists believe they only hurt themselves if they are in a crash, but the pain, suffering, and financial costs often extend to family members, friends, employers, insurance companies, and others. • Riding a motorcycle while impaired is not worth the risk of losing your life, killing an innocent person, ruining your bike or going to jail. • The consequences of impaired riding are serious and real. The trauma and financial costs of a crash or an arrest for riding while impaired can be significant and can ruin your life. • Violators often face jail time, the loss of their driver’s license, higher insurance rates, and dozens of other unanticipated expenses from attorney fees, other fines and court costs, towing and repairs, lost time at work, and numerous other consequences. Additional Statistics • Motorcyclist fatalities increased in 2011 to 4,612, accounting for 14 percent of total fatali¬ties for the year. This increase in motorcycle fatalities for the year picks up the overall increasing trend over the last 14 years that saw a one-year decline in 2009 when 4,469 motorcyclists were killed. • The percentages of drivers involved in fatal crashes with a BAC level of .08 or higher in 2011 was 29 percent for motorcycles. • In 2011, 60 percent of fatally injured motorcycle riders and 49 percent of fatally injured motorcycle passengers were not wearing helmets at the time of the crash. • Forty-two percent of the 1,997 motorcycle riders who died in single-vehicle crashes in 2011 had BAC levels of .08 g/dl or higher.
