Happy Birthday to ME! May is my birthday month and always the beginning of the hottest time of the year here in Florida. May is also Motorcycle safety awareness month! I also know those damn Love Bugs are right around the corner as well. As Charlie Three Finger always told me, just bring some ketchup and mustard packets when you go riding, rub it on your teeth and smile, you won’t need to eat when you get to where you are going! It is also Mother’s Day in May so don’t forget your moms on May 13th. We have some great rides happening in May. First is the 5 Bridge Poker Run on May 12th. We will be going to 6 different Winghouses in the area and over the 5 major bridges that connect the Tampa Bay Area. Of course, ending over the Skyway. The first 100 people who register for $20 and get 3 hands will also get a free Full Throttle Magazine t-shirt! That same day is the Threshers baseball game in Clearwater. You get to ride on the field, free parking and there is a big bike show. We are also doing the Tuck-A-Buck poker run on May 18th. This is an adult only ride that visits a few adult entertainment clubs in the area. Please look at our cruising calendar or the ads in this month’s magazine for more information on all these great events!

Full Throttle is growing! I know I have said this before, but we are SERIOUSLY looking for sales reps and distribution people in specific areas. We are looking for sales reps and distribution in these areas: JACKSONVILLE, TALLAHASSEE, DAYTONA, FORT MYERS, MIAMI and GAINESVILLE. We pay 20% commission on all ads sold and we pay you to distribute the magazines. This is a great job for someone who is retired and looking for something fun to do in the motorcycle community. If you are interested in this position, please contact me at 727-919-1743 is my cell or e-mail me at tonyc@ floridafullthrottle.com The Soaked and Sore Ass Poker Run is right around the corner on June 30th! This is one of my favorite rides of the year. We will be going over 300 miles, starting at New Port Richey Harley-Davidson and ending at Space Coast HarleyDavidson in Palm Bay. Space Coast Harley will be hosting a huge event that day with 12 bands and vendors. We will be traveling south around Okeechobee and then up the East Coast. On Sunday, we will also have discount tickets for everyone on the ride to visit Kennedy Space Center. The entire Full Throttle Staff and families will be doing this also so come out for a great day after the ride! I would like to wish my MAMA a Happy Mother’s Day and happy Birthday to Christine and my Aunt DooDoo. I hope everyone has a safe and fun time in Leesburg! Remember, it’s going to be hot so drink lots of water! Don’t drink and ride and I will see you soon!

Drinking and riding…Don’t do it! Last week, I received a call from a friend that asked me if I would like to join him on a poker run. He said the poker run was for a good cause. They were trying to raise some money for a rider injured in a motorcycle crash. My friend told me they had picked some of the best roads in central Florida and will cover 125 miles with all the stops at the best biker bars in the area. That’s where the conversation ended for me. My friend said “hey, you don’t have to drink a beer at every stop you know”. He was correct. In fact, I wouldn’t drink alcohol at any of the poker run stops should I accept the invitation. The problem as I see it, the vast majority of riders will have at least a few beers during the run. That’s the main reason I stopped going on poker runs several years ago. I avoid riding with people whose skill level I’m not aware of, let alone riders that have been drinking… you can count me out. Drinking and driving a car is bad. Drinking and riding a motorcycle is much worse. Think about this for a moment. When driving a car, to steer, you turn the steering wheel. To stop, you step on the brake. At low speeds, you must turn your handlebars in the direction you want to go along with your head and eyes, while manipulating the clutch and throttle to help maintain your balance. At speeds above 15 mph you have to counter-steer in order to force the bike into a lean which causes the bike to turn. You also have to remember to look in the direction you want to go. That’s a wide variety of things to do all at once. Since even a small amount of alcohol impairs your judgment, you can

see how riding under the influence is considerably worse than driving a fourwheeled vehicle. Now, let’s talk about stopping. In the car, you just slam on the brakes; since your motorcycle has two separate brakes and both must be modulated. You have to maintain your balance as you come to even a slow stop. You must agree that riding under the influence is not the smart thing to do. Suppose you have to make a quick stop to avoid a vehicle that violates your right of way? Most sober riders tend to lock the rear tire and under brake the front brake. Alcohol not only impairs your judgment, it slows your reaction time. The chances of you avoiding that vehicle are slim to none…and, as they say in the South, “Slim’s done left town”. When a vehicle violates your right of way, you may have to brake, then release the brakes, then swerve left to right, or right to left. That’s a tough maneuver to make. Under the influence, it’s not going to happen. Alcohol, unlike most other drugs, is both a stimulant and a depressant. The initial reaction to alcohol is a loss of inhibition. Also, known as “the buzz”. This drops your fear level and will cause you to take chances you wouldn’t normally take. That could mean taking a corner faster, speeding, and or, cutting in and out of traffic. This is known as aggressive riding. In single vehicle motorcycle fatalities, 41% of motorcyclists were intoxicated. That means no other vehicle was involved in the crash. I would be willing to bet if the rider was not intoxicated, his or her normal fear level would have prevented the crash from happening. Once the stimulant effect wears off, the depressant state takes over. This is where your reflexes slow way down and your ability to perform several tasks at once is seriously impaired. The bottom line, don’t drink and ride. If you go on a poker run with bar stops, have a non-alcoholic beer or drink a coke. When you head out for the next stop, stay away from the pack. Leave before everyone else, or let them get out ahead of you. Don’t go on one of these rides with a friend whom you know is a drinker. You can’t help an intoxicated rider by following him. Never let anyone influence you into making poor riding decisions. It may be the last one you ever make.

"The bottom line, don’t drink and ride"

So, I love to travel for this job. The events we get to be a part of, the people we meet and the stories that go along with them make for some truly memorable experiences. Some of these stories are amazing, some are hilarious and some tug at the very heart-strings that make this such a great community. I attempt to relay these stories to you the best that I can, and hope that my writings can at least express (even just a little bit) what made them so memorable to me. My point? I had one of those “heart-string” moments down in Miami during an event. Met a great couple who are roughly the same age as my wife and I, have similar interests, same background types, etc., etc. Really hit it off. They had seen us (Full Throttle Magazine) at some events, and most recently in Daytona Beach during bike week, and finally had some time to come and chat. They lost their son, Colin, to a rare form of childhood cancer in March of 2017, and started the B Colin

Strong Foundation. Check out this little Hero’s complete story at www.bcolinstrong. com and let’s see if we can get behind them, as a community, and see if we can lend a hand to their cause. May is a big birthday month around here, so Happy Birthday Tony, Aunt Deb, Kelli Knight, Kenzie Copper, Heidi Kormann, Barbie Colella, Eric Warren, Jeremy Peters, George Talmadge and finally, a very Happy Birthday to the love of my life, Christine!!! Invest Smart, Ride Safe Can you believe it, we are already approaching summer 2018! As I look back on the past several months, I am reminded of the all the great events we have enjoyed in our biking community this year. It has once again been a pleasure getting together with those of you who I have known for years, and meeting so many wonderful new friends and clients. Now, as you prepare for the changes that summer brings, whether you are making the journey to your summer home or simply gearing up for warmer weather, it is time to review your investment roadmap and financial temperature. Especially those of you who have already entered or are about to enter the retirement highway. Here are a few questions you may want to consider as we shift gears for coming days of summer: 1. Are you investing for growth, income, or a combination of the two? Is your investment portfolio in-line with your investment objectives? 2. Are you less than comfortable with Uncle Sam’s impact on your investments? Are your pursuing ideas to address this comfort level? 3. What has substantially changed in your life since your last investment portfolio review? What substantial changes do you see approaching just around the corner?

Many of you have trekked down roads in search of a great ride. Well, a great ride takes planning prior to hitting the pavement. The same goes for your investments. If you do not have a destination in-mind, any road will get you there. But do you really want to end up just anywhere in retirement? Let’s define your goals and implement a plan that is tailored to pursue your desired destination, so you can arrive when and where you want, while enjoying your kind of scenery along the way. I think we can all agree that with so many investment options available and new options coming into the market every day, it can be very difficult to continuously monitor your portfolio while maintaining a methodology for when and where to move. That is where I come in. Through my more than 35 years’ experience I have refined my investing methodology, which some might call the science and art of investing. I utilize a variety of financial vehicles and investment strategies designed to pursue maximum income and healthy overall returns. If you are in the same investments you have been in for many years, or you are trying to time the market, or you are looking to maximize investment income, let my experience go to work for you. I take a helicopter approach in helping you pursue your current goals, which are probably not the same as your goals from 10 years ago. Take the time to enjoy the changes that summer brings and take the time to give me a call to review your financial road trip. I look forward to working with you through the many seasons of your life. I want to thank everyone that came up to Ellie Rays Thunder on The River in Branford Florida. Mustang Sally rocked the weekend and we had a great time on the Santa Fe River. Here we go, first off let me say that this is so far the hardest month for me personally with losing or injured Biker friends (RIP Sam) and Praying for a speedy and full recovery to Ajla. Not to forget all the others who passed on or recovering from injuries. Events for April were crazy good, once again, Big Thank You to everyone for making th and Garage Rehab. I'm super excited for the upcoming events we at Florida Full Throttle Magazine will be attending from Leesburg to Sturgis and a few in between. Let’s just say Florida Full Throttle is going on the

44

road. Now with that, people are going say we are not bikers because we trailer our bikes. Well, let me see those who are hating, haul everything we use at our events, on their bikes. We bring tents, table chairs, magazines, PA systems, and give-a-ways almost everywhere we go. We wish we could ride to every event, trust me! But we do bring our bikes and try and ride every chance we get! REMEMBER MAY IS MOTORCYCLE SAFTEY AWARENESS MONTH. An 85 year old couple, having been married almost 60 years, had died in a car crash. They had been in good health the last ten years mainly due to her interest in health food, and exercise. When they reached the pearly gates, St. Peter took them to their mansion which was decked out with a beautiful kitchen and master bath suite and Jacuzzi. As they “oohed and aahed” the old man asked Peter how much all this was going to cost. “It’s free,” Peter replied, “this is Heaven.” Next they went out back to survey the championship golf course that the home backed on to. They would have golfing privileges everyday and each week the course changed to a new one representing the great golf courses on earth. The old man asked, “What are the green fees?” Peter’s reply, “This is heaven, you play for free.” Next they went to the club house and saw the lavish buffet lunch with the cuisine’s of the world laid out. “How much to eat?” asked the old man. “Don’t you understand yet? This is heaven, it is free!” Peter replied with some exasperation. “Well, where are the low fat and low cholesterol tables?” the old man asked timidly. Peter lectured, “That’s the best part . . . you can eat as much as you like of whatever you like and you never get fat and you never get sick. This is Heaven.” With that the old man went into a fit of anger, throwing down his hat and stomping on it, and shrieking wildly. Peter and his wife both tried to calm him down, asking him what was wrong. The old man looked at his wife and said, “This is all your fault. If it weren’t for you and your damn bran muffins, I could have been here ten years ago!” **************************** While she was 'flying' down the road yesterday, a woman passed over a bridge only to find a cop with a radar gun on the other side lying in wait. The cop pulled her over, walked up to the car, with that classic patronizing smirk we all know and love, asked, 'What's your hurry?' To which she replied, 'I'm late for work.' 'Oh yeah,' said the cop, 'what do you do?' 'I'm a rectum stretcher,' she responded. The cop stammered, 'A what? A rectum stretcher? And just what does a rectum stretcher do?' 'Well,' she said, 'I start by inserting one finger, then work my way up to two fingers, then three, then four, then with my whole hand in. I work from side to side until I can get both hands in, and then I slowly but surely stretch it, until it's about 6 feet wide.' 'And just what the heck do you do with a 6 foot butthole? ' he asked. 'You give him a radar gun and park him behind a bridge. ******************************** ...Just remember, some days your the windshield... some days your the bug.

A Father put his 3year old daughter to bed, told her a story and listened to her prayers which ended by saying, "God bless Mommy, God bless Daddy, God bless Grandma and good-bye Grandpa." The father asked, 'Why did you say good-bye Grandpa?' The little girl said, "I don't know daddy, it just seemed like the thing to do." The next day grandpa died. The father thought it was a strange coincidence. A few months later the father put the girl to bed and listened to her prayers which went like this, "God bless Mommy, God Bless Daddy and good-bye Grandma." The next day the grandmother died. "Holy crap" thought the father, "this kid is in contact with the other side." Several weeks later when the girl was going to bed the dad heard her say, "God bless Mommy and good-bye Daddy." He practically went into shock. He couldn't sleep all night and got up at the crack of dawn to go to his office. He was nervous as a cat all day, had lunch and watched the clock.. He figured if he could get by until midnight he would be okay. He felt safe in the office, so instead of going home at the end of the day he stayed there, drinking coffee, looking at his watch and jumping at every sound. Finally midnight arrived; he breathed a sigh of relief and went home. When he got home his wife said, "I've never seen you work so late. What's the matter?" He said, "I don't want to talk about it, I've just spent the worst day of my life." She said, "You think you had a bad day, you'll never believe what happened to me. This morning the milk man died. ***************************************

I decided to stop calling the bathroom the “John” and renamed it the “Jim”. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning. ***************************************

A man goes to Victoria Secret to buy his wife the most sheer lingerie he can find. The woman behind the counter goes and gets an outfit. "This is $200," she says. "I want one that's more sheer," says he. "This one is $350." "I want it even more sheer than that." "This one is the most sheer that we have. It's $500." "I'll take it!" The man goes home to his wife and shows it to her, saying, "Go put this on and come down to model it for me." His wife goes upstairs, opens the box and thinks, "This thing is so see-through that the old coot won't even notice if I'm wearing it or not. I can take this back for a refund and he won't know the difference." So his wife comes out wearing nothing at all and strikes a pose at the top of the stairs. "So, how do you like it?" she asks. "Damn, you'd think for $500 they'd iron the damn thing.

Happy Memorial Day & be safe. We did Full Throttle bike night at Tallahassee Harley-Davidson on April 19th. This is a change from the 2nd Thursday to the 3rd Thursday. We had a good turn out with 16 bikes in the bike show, the band was great, and the Harley girls were serving the beer. Most of all, Ricky and the staff were fantastic and friendly. We do need more vendors including someone who can sew on patches. If you would like to join us call us. May is busy with Mother’s Day with free mimosas for the ladies, new owner’s orientation, HOG chapter meeting May 20th and the law enforcement mo-

torcycle rodeo at FSU stadium. There is grill and chill every weekend with free food and beverages and of course the Harley girls. Bike night is Thursday May 17th. The band is 3 Billy Goat Gruff, the charity is the Wakulla County Special Olympics and, of course, the full throttle bike show with trophies. We will also be live streaming on our Facebook page and lots of fun. We had a great time at the April bike night. Come on up to Tallahassee H-D And help make this a great destination. May 20th there is a ride out from Tallahassee H-D to Mexico Beach with kick stands up at 10:30 am. It was good time with Tony and Paul. Don't forget to thank a vet on Memorial Day. Until next month remember to ride safe no matter what you ride. Keelhauler Misty Wells has been busy fishing, so we figured we would just show you some of here recent amazing catches this month!

There are new bike nights popping up all over the place, Englewood downtown just had their first one! South of the Skyway they heard you! Applebee’s Sarasota/University Pkwy has theirs the 2nd Thursday of each Month (May 10th). In April the "Verge" rocked a packed lot so hard they are coming back for May! It's the Blues Brothers gone wild and they sure can sing play! "Applebee’s" needs vendors, and it's free set up. Email/call me for info please! Our last Thursday of the month "Full Throttle Peggy’s Bike Night" has taken off, games, great bands, food and a bike show. Peggy’s has always had great events; the new
