Motorman’s Tips, Tricks, and Techniques – Riding with a Passenger Sometimes what seems to me to be a very easy thing, others find to be the exact opposite and that’s only because some people overthink such things and believe it can’t be that simple. I’m talking about riding a motorcycle with a passenger. You wouldn’t believe all the questions I get on this subject. I’m going to lay it out right here in the easiest way possible. Let’s start with how the passenger should mount the bike. The simplest way I find is for the passenger to get on the bike first. Here’s how it works. The passenger mounts from the high side, while the bike is on the kickstand. The passenger puts their right foot on the floorboard, swings the left leg over the tour pack and first sits on the rider’s seat. Then, simply scoots up onto the passenger seat. The rider mounts the same way. Once both the rider and the passenger are seated on the bike, the passenger leans forward, close to the rider. The rider then turns the handlebars full lock

right, and pushes the bike straight up and puts the kickstand up. I use this method at my class as I often put students on their own bike and ride them through an exercise to show them what the bike feels like as it leans through the turns. Most of these riders are men in their fifty’s and sixties and not very flexible. This method works perfect for me, try it. I also get a lot of questions about what a passenger should and shouldn’t do while on the bike. Again, I’ll simplify it. When making tight, low speed turns, the passenger should scoot up close to the rider. This puts most of the weight in the center of the bike and makes maneuvering much easier. This also works well on winding roads even at higher speeds. The passenger should NOT lean in the opposite direction of the rider. It’s also a good idea for the passenger to inform the rider if they must adjust their position on the seat. (No sudden moves). On the same subject for the rider, if you buy a new heavyweight touring bike like an HD Ultra, you may be tempted to put the wife on the back and take her for a ride as soon as you get home from the dealer. DON’T do it. Get used to the new bike on your own. Pull into a parking lot and practice your low speed skills before allowing a passenger on the bike. Practice your braking, then swerving and leaning and U-turns for at least an hour on your new ride. If you can’t do any of these maneuvers by yourself, putting a passenger on the bike will only make things worse. A little common sense goes a long way. Well, as Iâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;m sure everyone else has written about. October was a heck of a month. We were out in Las Vegas for their Bike Week, and the AIMExpo. Met some great people, got some great ideas and got to judge a bikini contest (tough life I know). Got to settle back into the homelife for a day, then headed over to Daytona Beach for Biketoberfest. We did some great bike shows out at the Boardwalk, Grandview Live and the Speedway. Thank you to everyone who came out! It was an absolute pleasure to get to see those amazing machines. We have made it to November the beautiful month of Thanksgiving, also known as the month after the most notorious month for “spooky” corrections…October. This past month we finally felt some volatility in the markets. However, volatility itself “can” present opportunity for investors. The markets, from a macroeconomic view, have generally been trending upward since 2009. I have worked in these markets for over three and a half decades and, as you can imagine, I have seen a lot in that time. Including: Black Monday in October 1987, Tech Bubble in December 1999, the long-lost decade of the 2000’s, and who could ever forget The Financial Crisis in October 2007. As a financial professional who has worked to help my clients navigate so many of these market changes and economic fluctuations the one thing that has always held true, is that what makes this country thrive is HARD WORK and good old-fashioned PROFITS; they go hand-in-hand. Our wonderful country was built on this principle and in many American eyes today the current administration is running the country more like a business than a political monster. And when it comes to business, it is raw, bottom line numbers. With that said, we are in the longest Bull market of my career and

may continue to be for some time. Profits have continued to give solid numbers in many sectors such as manufacturing, industrials, financials, technology, energy, healthcare, etc. The analysts that I follow are predicting a final record high in the Dow of 28,500 – 29,000 with an expectation of continued economic growth until at least 2021. That is a long Bull market; one that would surpass any that we have been able to enjoy before it. We have more job openings than the number of individuals filing for unemployment. In fact, the unemployment rate is at the lowest it has been since 1969 and the Federal Reserve has already declared its rate hikes for 2019. However, being an economics major with over three and a half decades of experience in working with investment clients, I am convinced that now more than ever investors need the guidance of a seasoned financial professional who keeps their eyes on the proverbial road of these everchanging markets. Here is the reason why… you must look at history and true economic numbers, as history has a knack for repeating itself. However, most of the time history does so in new and unique ways. Right now, there are approx. 74.1 mill baby boomers that are retiring at a rate of nearly 10,000 per day. These are hard-working, regular people that will now enter a different stage of life where the focus is enjoying the time they have worked so hard for while relying on their retirement income. Hey all. How is everyone. I want to change things up a bit. I was out at Kicken Wingz bike night last Tuesday and ran across a fellow biker with a great story that I have to share with you. We all no about the oil transfer problems the newer Harley's have. This gentleman had bought a 2018 road glide with a special one off color from Bert's Barracuda Harley Davidson. Him and his wife set out on a trip to the Carolinas. His new bike used oil and just wasn't right. He took it to a Dealer up there and the run around started. They said they fixed it and he should be ok. he didn't even make it home when it happened again. Back to another dealer he went. They told him the issues that the new bikes was having and immediately tried to sell him a 2019 instead of fixing the problem. He told them no way. he liked the color of his bike and that color was not offered in 2019. He finally gets the bike back to Bert's. Now is when things get good. He talks with Josephine Carter who sold him the bike. She couldn't believe

what she was hearing. Bert's took his bike and confirmed the problem was true. So instead of just patching it up again they also offered him a 2019. He told Josephine the same thing. He liked the color that he couldn't get on the 2019 models. So here is what happened. Which blew my mind. The gentleman and Josephine made a deal. He wanted that color and got it. With the 2018 and 2019 models being the same the dealer took all his tens, seat and extras he had bought and put them all on the 2019 model. They even through in a set of handle bars for him. Now he is riding the bike of his dreams. So long story short. Josephine and the Bert's Barracuda Staff thank you so much for being a leader in the Harley world. Hello Bikers! I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving. Of course, here in the Back Yard is where I’m sure we’ll set everything on fire trying to deep fry that turkey again this year. Someday I’ll figure out how to do that without having to call the fire department every year. November is a wonderful time of year. The temperature is coming down so it’s nice being out on the scooter. Lots of toy runs will be coming up to end up the year including in December the Full Throttle Christmas Toy Run to St Joseph Children's Hospital in Tampa on December 8th and Bert’s Annual Toy Run on December 2nd starting at Trade Winds resort this year, so be sure and put that on your calendar. Well, the season of giving thanks is here again and there is no one bigger nor better than the biker community at giving and helping out those in need around the holidays and with the cooler weather coming it brings us out in force! There’s just something about stacking cans of food and bags of toys that makes a person feel 100% good inside & out knowing that some family will not go without. Just like back in July when we did our Christmas toy run to St. Joseph’s Children Hospital in Tampa. My man Kolton was down visiting from Ohio and got to see 1st hand on how we get down on giving. Something I know he’ll never forget. Which brings me to something I want to do for all of you that give so stay tuned to our Facebook page & mine for details. For our local events we have Throttle Thursday on the 8th @ New port Richey H-D... Saturday the 10th is a poker run stop here at the FT office for Kim Adams & Sunday the 22nd is The Full Throttle Anniversary party @ get hooked in Hudson from noon to dusk with trophies from yours truly so make sure to sign your bikes up and come party with us. date. Daytona Daytona Daytona man Biketoberfest was a blast from staying on the beach to losing my phone in the Atlantic. The boss man in the rest of the staff showed me around as we got to ride out in Full throttle form. I mean they showed me the cabbage patch the speedway the boardwalk and at the end of the night Grandview live.It was really cool that my mom came out and stayed with me. We grilled we drank we laughed and really just had a great time. Thank you Boss man for the awesome Memories . But while I was out at the Daytona Speedway and got some special pinstriping done on the Buc-U. Davies pinstring Custom painting was there across form our kickass bike show that we were having and I’ve been wanting to get some done for awhile now. Davie and his wife were the complete package to tackle the job .their level of professionalism and expertise where at the top of the game.Like any great artist I was able to give him an idea of what I wanted and he was able to run with it and make it more then what I ever dreamed of. Thank you brother and go Giants! See Davies is based out of Duanesberg NY so it felt extra good watching a Giants fan paint on a Bucs bike. Hi, Everyone! It was another great event month in South Florida and Daytona! Got to attend the 26th Anniversary Biketoberfest Rally, where Full Throttle was in Full swing! F.T. had many Bike shows in various locations - great turnout! Battle of the Baggers and Ride in Bike shows happening all over town! Rode to the many venues with all kinds of entertainment; Iron horse had several kool bands including the infamous David Allen Co; Beaver Bar had live music, vendors & custom bike show- beautifully painted bikes by Shane Phillips; Cabbage Patch with the famous coleslaw wrestling-Yeah baby! Thanks to Derrek-MC- who VIP'd us into the ring to get us close enuf' to smell that 'slaw' & meet the brave girls!! Cabbage Ptch. had sum' grt live music & food trucs too! Main street Station featured a couple of knockout bands -Bearded brothers, Big engine, Pop Evil, The Bank & Blues Club had the very popular Razorbacks playing every night- rockabilly blues rules! On to riding the "Loop" scenic ride on Old Dixie hwy. and continued the ride to visit Bruce Rossmeyer's Destination Harley- so much going on there- live music lotsa vendors, food & cold beer!! Also got to see & spend some time @ the newly opened Hard Rock Hotel on the beach - beautiful atmosphere with more great bands- food & drinks!! Special thanx to some good friends Tim, Laird, Shari the Ricks, others from Naples, Ft. Myers & Ft. Lauderdale- met up with us to share the awesome experience! G Attended one of the Local events @ American Legion Post 142 in Pompano-Octoberfest good turnout with live music, grt. food & as always cold beer! Rode to Busters in Sunrise several times to check out their various entertainment & food specials. Rick, New owner, has several events taking place; 'The Great Gatsby Theme party' - roaring 20's costume party & Classic Car & Bike Cruise-in -Also live music by Glyn Dryhurst Dixieland Jazz Band and Walter Williams. The Big Bash lineup is Dec.1st- so check it out!!

Attended the Cartel Bagger benefit "Tata Run" for breast Cancer awareness Good Job Ralph & Shannon for putting this together - always a great turnout - lotsa bikes ended up at Cafe 27 to mingle & listen to 3RG! Great Run Guys! Had the honorable pleasure of meeting up with 'Gunnie 'who served in the U.S. Airforce for 23 years-he rode from north Florida to Daytona with a huge smile- very impressive 4 time war Vet serving in Vietnam, Gulf war, Afghan & survived the sand box in Iraq! Rides with my legion riders from North Florida! Great to see you Gunnie and the boys from Legion riders north Fl.! Took another ride up to Pompano to see the Breeze play @ the Seaside Grill and Tiki' which overlooks the Atlantic and 'where the locals go'! The Breeze is one of the areaâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s finest tribute bands playing Jethro Tull favorites and other old rock classics! They have an amazing lineup of music that play all your favorite artist in concert all in one night! Cafe 27- local favorite biker bar hangout- had an awesome music lineup for Oct. including ; The Jeffrey James Band, 3RG, Trip Machine, Hangar 5, Dirk Diggler, MNG, Silver Spine, Rough shot, Soulicide and many more -so check them out and support our local bands!
