I am so happy we are getting into the holiday season! I love this time of year, not just because of the weather getting cooler, at least we hope it does, but because we start getting so busy in the motorcycle community there are multiple events almost every weekend. Remember October is breast cancer awareness month and on Wed. Oct. 26th we will be doing our PINK OUT at Quaker Steak and Lube. That means come out and for any donation, we will dye your hair, beard, mustache, or whatever pink raising money for cancer survivors or someone fighting it now! Any donation accepted!!! October is jam packed with events so I am going to try and list the ones you will be able to find me at for sure. The second weekend Oct 7-9, is COTEE RIVER BIKE FEST. I am very excited for this as we sit on the committee planning the event, we host 2 bike shows and I will personally be emceeing the event this year on the main stage! How cool is that!?!? The next weekend is two major events for the state of Florida. The AIMEXPO in Orlando and BIKETOBERFEST in Daytona Beach. I will be at both location bouncing back and forth but for sure at the AIMEXPO all day Thursday, then Friday and Sat in Daytona. The Following Weekend Oct 22nd, we will be racing our custom Box car we are building for the Achieva Credit Union Box Car Rally. We are building this car as they have joined up with Full Throttle on the Expo and advertising. We will then auction the box car off for charity at our Anniversary party at New Port Richey Harley-Davidson on November 20th where FULL THROTTLE MAGAZINE will be celebrating our 20th Anniversary Party this year! The Full Throttle Offices are located in Tarpon Springs, so I decided to join the chamber a few years ago. Well, now I have decided to be more involved with my home town and the community I lived in for so long. In Oct. I will be joining the Board for the Chamber of Commerce in Tarpon Springs. I am not sure where to go with this or where it will take me, but my idea is to someday, maybe, become MAYOR of Tarpon Springs and continue doing good for the community. I love Tarpon Springs and have lived in this area since I moved here in 1998. Be on the lookout for more great events happening in Tarpon Springs and the surrounding area!!! COUNTER-BALANCING AND WHY YOU SHOULD GIVE IT A TRY I get this question a lot; why don’t you talk about counterbalancing? Actually, I do talk about counter-balancing in my videos. In fact, I also demonstrate it in my New Ride Like a Pro video. What I don’t do is include counter-balancing in the three techniques, which of course are, the proper use of your head and eyes, the friction zone and the rear brake. It’s been my experience that once a rider gets comfortable with the three techniques, counter-balancing will come about naturally or instinctively. For those of you who aren’t familiar with the term “counter-balancing”, it simply means shifting your weight to the high side of the motorcycle when the bike is leaning. Shifting your weight to the high side gives your bike a little more lean angle before scraping the pegs or the floorboards. For most situations while maneuvering the bike at low speeds, to counter-balance, all you need do is shift your shoulders to the high side while letting the bike lean under you. For extremely tight turns, as in police style motorcycle rodeos or when practicing 18’ turns on a heavyweight bike, you’ll find it helpful to actually shift your butt off the seat to the high side. You can practice this technique of shifting to the extreme, even if you’re not leaning the bike to its lean limits. All you need to do is make some big figure 8’s at 10 or 15 mph and shift your butt off the seat to the right when turning left and quickly to the left side when turning to the right. The most important thing is to TURN YOUR HEAD AND EYES to the extreme at the same time you’re shifting your weight. The tighter the turn you are trying to make, the faster and further you’ll want to turn your head and eyes. Remember, at high speeds it’s the opposite. About 30 mph or higher, you’ll want to lean with the bike. At the same time, you must keep your head and eyes level with the horizon. If you lean your head with the bike, you’ll find yourself getting vertigo and that will cause you to quickly lose control. If you’ve ever watched motorcycle racing, you’ve seen the riders leaning so low off the bike their knees are scraping the ground. If you’re trying to do that on a heavyweight motorcycle, you’re on the wrong bike. In closing, give counter-balancing a try. It’s fun and it will help improve your low speed skills.

The month starts off with Plant City Bikefest on Saturday, Oct.1st, then there is the Cotee River Bikefest starting on Friday, October 7th through Sunday the 9th. There will be bands on the main stage in the park and main street all weekend, all types of vendors, a couple of shows and don't forget the Full Throttle Ride in Bike Shows on Saturday and Sunday. The next weekend will be Daytona Biketoberfest starting on Thursday October 13th all the way through Sunday the 16th. This is a big weekend for Full Throttle - We will have booths at the International Speedway and on Main Street at Dirty Harry's. PLUS, there will be 2 BIG ride in bike shows. The first one is on Friday October 14th at the Boardwalk - what a great way to spend the day showing off your bike and enjoying the ocean at the same time! Then on Saturday the 15th Full Throttle will put on the Daytona International Speedway Ride In show. I hope we get to see you at least 1 of these shows, more would be better!! Well, Autumn is here and that means bike events all around Florida are getting fired up. It all gets start in New Port Richey FL with the Cotee River Bikefest in the newly renovated Sims Park and throughout Downtown New Port Richey. Two stages with live music all weekend. Then I’m off to Daytona where I will be returning to The Legendary Boot 44

Hill Saloon on Main Street at M/C of Biketoberfest. Things get kicked off at Biketoberfest Kick Off Party on Wednesday night at Boothill Saloon. Should I or shouldn’t I? I debated. It was a personable decision (and one you couldn’t come back from easily). I asked my husband…he said, “GO FOR IT!”…but still I wasn’t sure…WHAT HAD ME IN SUCH ANXT? Then, on my 52 b-day, I decided to take Eddie’s advice and GO FOR

Now who better than a hair dresser who dyes her own hair (I thought to myself ) to ask about DYING MY HAIR PURPLE? ELYSE DEVEREAUX grew up knowing exactly what she wanted to be…A HAIR STYLIST just like her mom! As a little girl, ELYSE used to sit in the sink watching her mom (in amazement) put on her make-up and do her hair. When she was in Middle School, she used to walk over to her mom’s shop (Shear Delight) from school to sweep up and sometimes take out rollers for her mom’s clientele or getting them coffee. By the 9th grade, ELYSE got her license in both SKIN and NAILS!!! (Her greatest achievement thus far!). It only took her 3 more months to get her HAIR license due to advanced knowledge! As a matter of fact, she was soooo very good that the faculty asked her to TEACH her class when the teacher was out sick! My mom was a beautician also (like Elyse). I’m a natural blonde and had never died my hair (except to put lemon juice in the summer to brighten it naturally – I grew up in Michigan - - You blondes out there know what I’m talking about….). So for me to even think of dying my hair was a decision I didn’t take lightly. BUT, once I did, I LOVED IT! Now, it’s more purple than blonde! I don’t even mind the odd looks I get (people think I’m a freak…but that doesn’t out-weigh the compliments I get from people who “get it”! THANK YOU TO PEOPLE WHO DON’T MAKE JUDGEMENTS ON HOW OTHER’S LOOK! ELYSE (31) has been a hair stylist for 13 years. Needless to say that she is inspired by her mom (55) who’s been a hair dresser for 40 years! Her mom has done 4 generations of families doing their hair! Her mom moved to a small town in GA (with the thought of retirement), but missed owning her own shop, so she now works full-time at Looking At You and is back to doing what she loves! BTW, STEVEN KING was a client of ELYSE and her mom!

ELYSE (pronounced “E”- LEESE) has been employed at WAL-MART SMART STYLE for 8 years – first at St. Rt. 64 (where she HAD to turn down the AMAZING, UNBELIEVEABLE OFFER to do a rock-star’s hair… wait for it…STEVEN TYLER…YES, that’s right…ELYSE had to turn down the offer to go on the road to be Steven Tyler’s PERSONAL HAIR STYLIST!!! Because she just had her baby girl, Kayleen.)… And then at the 3510 Ranch Lake Wal-Mart since they opened in 2013. Before that, ELYSE was at the New York Hair Company (they had 6 locations from Bradenton to Venice, FL). ELYSE offers everything when it comes to hair styling! Whether it be Straight Razoring, to just a simple haircut, to an up-do for wedding, or something as complex as SKIN or NAILS, or COLORING… you have come to the RIGHT person when it comes to ELYSE! She is FUN, FUNKY, and SASSY (in her own words). “I’m not afraid to step out of the box – I’ll suggest something once, and I’ll ask you once… whereas other hair stylists are afraid to suggest something new to their clientele.” ELYSE is outgoing and friendly. I don’t think she’ll have any problem with opening up her own hair salon and tattoo parlor and turning it into an after-hours hangout like she hopes to do in the future. I JUST WISH HER ALL THE LUCK IN THE WORLD! ELYSE is from a loud, crazy ITALIAN family whom she just loves being around. She is from the type family that whether she just stops by to say HI and ends up staying for hours, that is OK. ELYSE is definitely family-oriented! Her sister is a nurse following in her aunt’s footsteps (they work at the same hospital in St. Pete). Her husband, Eric, works as a landscaper for Valley Crest. He is working on his HORTICULTURAL license as well. They have 2 beautiful children Kayleen (9) and Vincent (11 months old). Kayleen wants to follow in her grandmother’s and mom’s footsteps and be a beautician when she grows up! Kayleen is on her way because she just had her hair dyed Mermaid Red (and all of her classmates are loving it!). She loves the Beach, finding new ways to do hair coloring, and relaxing. ELYSE dislikes mean people, arguing, and slow drivers (who doesn’t?). I asked ELYSE, “why be a hairstylist?” and she replied, “because you can take this career ANYwhere (to another state, etc.) from doing RUNWAY Hair, CELEBRITY hair, to opening up your own shop and having other hair stylists work FOR YOU… ELYSE says that the best way to express your individuality is HAIR COLORING! FUN COLORS (like PURPLE!) start at $40. COLOR TOUCH UP = $44.95 HAIRCUT = $15.50 ELYSE used to ride (and wants to again!). A friend of hers had a crotch rocket which she said was FUN but scary cuz he used to do wheelies! While in high school, her mom had a Honda Shadow (Purple!) on which they used to ride…She likes Hipster-kind of bikes. SO, if you want a haircut, or are looking for something more DRASTIC kind of change (like I once did, and I’m ecstatic that I did! I had ELYSE dye my hair PURPLE because my bike is PURPLE), why don’t you go see ELYSE DEVEREAUX, “I HONESTLY WOULD NOT WANT TO DO ANYTHING ELSE!” and JUST HAVE FUN! is her motto!
