Full Throttle is going Full Throttle!!!! Since then we have doubled and tripled in almost every way possible. We have new sales reps all over the state like Dominic in the north East and KJ in South Florida! Last month I gave a shout out to all of our office and local people who have done and do so much for the magazine, this month I want to give a shout out to Nancy, Laurie Jo, Keelhauler, Dominic and KJ, our reps outside the Tampa Bay Area! and of course, the bike will go where you are looking and you will ride off the edge of the road. To avoid these situations is very easy. First, become familiar with the maximum lean angle of your bike. Do so in a parking lot at low speeds. You will find that scraping the pegs still allows you to maintain control and is not a reason to panic and straighten up the bike.
Crashes Involving Motorcycles: Most single vehicle crashes involving motorcycles, occur while negotiating a curve. Accident investigators have found that the crash is almost always the riders fault and was not due to sand or gravel on the road along with other obstacles. Investigators have also found that in most cases, the motorcycle was capable of making the curve at the speed the rider was traveling. So, why did the rider crash??? What generally happens is the rider believes he/ she is going too fast to complete the turn so they hit the brake with the bike leaned over, consequently, the bike slides out from under the rider or the rider releases the brake and high sides. Some riders will hear the pegs scrape, panic, and straighten the bike up and run right off the road. Others will simply look at the edge of the road
16
Second, NEVER brake hard in a turn with the bike leaned over. If you’re going to have to brake hard, you must first straighten the bike up even if it means going into the opposing lane. The safest procedure for negotiating a curve is to place the motorcycle in the portion of the lane which gives you the most visibility around the turn. Quite simply, if the road curves to the right, you should be in the left side of your lane looking to the end of the curve and visa versa. You need to look as far to the end of the curve as you possibly can and keep your head level with the horizon. NEVER look at the line in the road or the vehicles coming in the opposite direction. Your braking should be done before entering the curve. Now, go find a winding road and have some fun practicing this technique. Where do I start. What a month here at Full Throttle Magazine. All I can say is Sturgis Sturgis Sturgis. What a trip of a life time. 36 hours each way was so worth it. I stayed at the all new Full Throttle Saloon. What a place. After loosing the old saloon to a fire they rebuilt about 7 miles up the road. What they have done in 18 months is incredible. It is hard to believe. We had an incredible charity bike show with some of the best looking bikes I had ever seen at the saloon. We donated the money to Angie to give to her favorite animal charity. Tony aka Chief Cup Cake took us all on some beautiful rides. We did Mount Rushmore, Spearfish Canon, Deadwood, Custer's State Park where we seen buffalo, pronghorn deer and prairie dogs everywhere. To top things off we road Iron Mountain in the rain. People laugh and call us bike enthusiast not bikers. Let me tell you. Ride that mountain in the rain will make you a biker for sure. I got to see some awesome shows on the main stage including Jackyl that blew the place away. We meet Michael Ballard and Jesse James Two of the most awesome guys you could ever meet. We are working on some great things with them Bringing Full Throttle Saloon and Full Throttle Magazine together to host some awesome events next year at Sturgis. I guess I should mention. Girls Girls Girls everywhere. Bikini bike washes
to shot girls along with the Full Throttle Rock Stars is almost to much for a guy to take in. I say ALMOST. LOL Leaving the perfect 70 degree weather to return to the oven I have to say kinda sucked. But all good things come to an end. We had to get back to work. While half the crew was gone Poor Paul, Connie, and Fluffy had event after event to cover. They worked there ass off. I can say this. We might get spread out then sometimes. But we have one hell of a crew that can handle it. Our bike nights are starting to really take off. They will only get better as the weather changes. It might actually coll off one o these days. We are headed into the busy time of year for us here at Full Throttle. Keep your eye on the mag and facebook for up coming events. First up in Sept is our first ever Keywest Poker Run. With Peterson's canceling we took it on this year for all of us to enjoy. This very well could be the biggest poker run we have ever hosted. With all the great stops and parties at the end along with a bikini contest, cash prizes, and a big 50/50 this is one you can't miss. I think it's time to sign off for now. Remember be free and ride safe. As always if you would like to run an add or even host your very own bike night or an event you can contact me at 727-5344447 or Les.FullThrottleMagzine@gmail.com Les

Welcome bikers to Mongo’s Back Yard. What a trip Sturgis SD was this year. Full Throttle Magazine had The Black Hill Rally covered wall to wall. My road trip took me through 11 different states of the great country we live in. Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Texas, Oklahoma, Colorado. Wyoming, S. Dakota. Nebraska and Kansas. Was so glad my cousin Mike was able to go for the first time. He retires after 37 years with the Sheriff’s office so to get him to go was amazing. Also want to give big thank you to my best friend John in Colorado for letting us get there a day early and camp out at his house before heading into Sturgis. Once we rolled into The Buffalo Chip our adventure got started right out of the gate. Woody the owner of Buffalo Chip asked us to help raise the 50x80 American Flag to signal the start of the rally. Wind was blowing over 20mph but again what an honor it was to be asked to put up old glory with so many veterans. American pride at its best. It took 15 men to put it up and it looked amazing flying in the wind.
42
If you have never seen it, put it on your bucket list when you are out in Sturgis. Then through the week we saw some amazing concerts and shows. It all Kicked off with Night Ranger and RATT, also Molly Hatchet, Doobie Brother, Blue Oyster Cult, George Thorogood and so much more, But Ozzy Osborne stole the show. Ozzy put on an ass kicking concert in front of a record crowd at Buffalo chip. The trip home was an adventure as we went by Devils Tower and Crazy Horse monuments. Coming up in October it’s time to get on the Crazy Train. We kick it of with the Full Throttle Fall fest and also on that Saturday night I slide down to host my first Plant City Bike Fest. Then it’s off to Daytona for Biketoberfest. Again, I’ll be M/C at Boot Hill Saloon so come by and see me. Then the very next week its Thunder Beach rally in Panama City Beach. I’ll be host Boardwalk Beach resort with a great lineup. Well, that’s it from the back yard. Ride safe everyone and remember Always Keep Your Stick On The Ice. MONGO

I think the rainy season is over and good riding season is here. Fall is a beautiful time of the year to be one with nature, so take a ride up on the back roads and stop by Tallahassee H-D and enjoy some food and fun with the Harley girls, music & demo rides. The second Thursday of the month is bike night at Tallahassee H-D with live music, vendors, food and beverages along with riding demonstrations. The second Saturday of the month is the lazy lizard pizza co. Bike night with dancing in the street to live band and lots of bikes and friends you haven't met yet. With Labor Day weekend upon us come on up to the panhandle and have some fun. You could even enjoy a bike and boat show at Panama City Beach H-D Labor Day weekend. More music, fun and Harley girls. There is a lot to see and do up here. Until next month, remember to ride safe no matter what you ride. Keelhauler

5. Leg kicked out to the left or the right signals a hazard in the road.
Signals and a few insights: Just wondering how many of you still do this? If you see a busted down bike on the side of the road, do you still stop to help? Since our move to Florida, I can honestly say I still do. How would you know if he was broken down and needed help though? In the biker world, we have some signals that we use on our rides, we all should know the basics just in case it happens to you.
And for the new riders, a few insights into the biker world that you may find useful.
3. Left arm out signals left turn.
1. Bugs are now your best source of protein. 2. Your now an expert meteorologist, forget the T.V. and the weatherman, step outside, take a look, pack a rain suit and go! 3. If you are a first-time rider, everyone you have ever known will now tell you all about the dangers of riding. 4. You will eventually go down, dress for the slide not the ride! 5. Your GPS is now done, landmarks are your best friend. 6. Animals of all types will attempt suicide in your path. 7. Rocks flying off a car have now become boulders. Raindrops are now needles, wind will burn you, sand will remove a layer of skin. 8. Smoking while riding will set your hair on fire.
4. Left arm out but bent up at the elbow signals a right-hand turn.
IT'S ALL ABOUT THE JOURNEY RIDE SAFE, CONNIE
1. If a biker lays his helmet on the ground next to his bike, that signals to other bikers that he is broke down and needs help. Nowadays with cell phones being so popular, you rarely see this, but it's good to know. 2. Tapping on the top of your helmet signals a police officer may be ahead.

A guy is sitting in the bar in departures at a busy airport. A woman walks in and sits down at the table next to him. He decides because she’s got a uniform on, she’s probably an off-duty flight attendant. So he decides to have a go at picking her up by trying to identify the airline she flies for. He leans across to her and says the Delta Airlines motto: ‘We love to fly and it shows’. The woman looks at him blankly. He sits back and thinks up another line. He leans forward again and delivers the Air France motto: ‘Winning the hearts of the world’. Again she just stares at him with a puzzled look on her face. Undeterred, he tries again, this time saying the Malaysian Airlines motto: ‘Going beyond expectations’. Could it be British Airways then? he wonders and tries: “The World’s favorite airline”. The woman looks at him sternly and says ‘What the f**k do you want?’ ‘Ah!’ he says, sitting back with a smile on his face: “American Airlines”

So I finally landed a job as a Wal-Mart greeter, which is a good find for many retirees, unfortunately I lasted less than a day. About two hours into my first day on the job a very loud, unattractive, mean-acting woman walked into the store with her two kids, yelling obscenities at them all the way through the entrance. Per my greeter training manual I said pleasantly, “Good morning and welcome to Wal-Mart.” “Nice children you have there. Are they twins?” The ugly woman stopped yelling long enough to say, “Hell no, they ain’t twins. The oldest one is 9, and the other one is 7. Why the hell would you think they’re twins? Are you blind, or just stupid?” So I replied, “I’m neither blind nor stupid, madam. I just couldn’t believe someone slept with you twice. Have a good day and thank you for shopping at Wal-Mart.” My supervisor said I probably wasn’t cut out for this line of work.

There was a group of women at a seminar on how to live in a loving relationship with your husband. They were asked, “How many of you love your husbands?” All the women raised their hands. Then they were asked, “When was the last time you told your husband you loved him?” Some women answered today, some yesterday, some didn’t remember. The women were then told to take their phones and send the following text: “I love you, sweetheart.” Then the women were told to exchange phones and read the responding text messages. Here are some of the replies: 1. Who is this? 2. He, mother of my children, are you sick? 3. I love you too. 4. What now? Did you crash the car again? 5. I don’t understand what you mean? 6. What did you do now? 7. ?!? 8. Don’t beat about the bush, just tell me how much you need? 9. Am I dreaming? 10. If you don’t tell me who this message is actually for, someone will die. 11. I thought we agreed we would not drink during the day. 12. Your mother is coming to stay, isn’t she??
Another great 'Event month' riding out and about South Fl. Always more than we can do despite the Fl. summer weather of Hot temps and rain -Wow- can’t be cruisin' full throttle thru' those deep puddles! lol A lot of Kool events going on - attended a benefit ride to Gilberts Resort in Key Largo - a popular destination for South Fl. riders The band- '3RG' was playing -awesome music w. a huge following! Gilberts happens to be the second stop for Full Throttles Key West Poker Run - on *Sat. Sept 16 - SAVE the DATE - Hope to see you all there! For those of you who aren't social media savy (FB) the list of stops are; K&G Cycles, Gilberts, Hobos café, Keys Cycle, Boondocks, Tattoos & Scars! A Great Ride thru' the Keys -So come on down & enjoy the beautiful Fl. Keys scenery! Rode up to Pompano to see one of our favs.'Wildfire Band - Randy Fishenfeld who has been described as a "Tornado on the violin who can bow life into the dead' is a classically trained violinist turned 'bombshell electric violinist. She has played with Foghat, BB King, Journey, Red Hot Chili peppers & more - just to name a few! She also frequents 'Flossies' biker tiki bar - so check her out- an amazing show! Pompano is also the home base of the new Triumph & Ducati showroom -some beautiful fast bikes are displayed throughout as well as a new
mascot Frenchie pup- go check it all out if you’re in the area!! The Starke event was a new addition to the list - so had to check it out - nice small quaint town but attendance was lower than expected due to inclement weather - projected forecast of monsoon rains and excessive heat, so many riders hid out in the Tavern 'Downtown Grill'. Great place to get some relief from heat and talk to many friendly locals & transplants who incidentally moved up to that area escaping the south- good stories- good music & food Hopefully next year will be a bigger turnout for them! The Vintage car and bike show in Hollywood Fl. was a great success put on by Cobra Joe productions. Held on the first Sunday of the month the dream Car Classic gives gear heads and enthusiasts a chance to bring their pride & Joy rides out to show them off. Lining the stretch of Hollywood Boulevard each month are dozens of Hot rods, customs, bikes, trucks, and classics. Velocity cable Network was on hand to showcase this event! That's it for now - Hope to see ya all in Key West! More from KJs Korner next month! Let’s enjoy the ride & keep the rubber on the road. ** If you would like to advertise Please contact me at 518-928-7900 - South Fl. areas - Ft Lauderdale-Miami

“Full Throttle” fishing in the Gulf So far this year the offshore fishing in the Gulf of Mexico has been phenomenal and with Federal waters being open for American Red Snapper this summer for recreational fishermen it’s only gotten better. The myth of being only able to catch a few species in our backyard needed to be crushed and we set out for an overnight offshore trip to crush it. With a full moon our plan was simple, start with the Mangrove Snapper first and work our way up. We were using spinning rods and the 4/o reels spooled with 40 lb. mainline and 30 lb. fluorocarbon leader, armed with Knocker Rig’s with 3/o circle hooks and 3 oz. leads we cut up some sardines and started to catch nice size Mangroves. When fishing for Mangroves don’t get discouraged if they all seem to be the same size initially, the smaller ones seem to feed first and then the larger of the species starts to get hungry. Word to the wise, “Stick to the fishing to land the big Mangroves”, we will reel your way through to the big ones. We caught some nice Yellowtail and some good size Porgy’s at those spots for a bonus. As the sun started to rise it was time to target some American Red Snapper, Gag & Red Grouper, we also threw out a flat line with a live bait to snag anything going by. We rigged up 6/0 with straight 100 lb. test with 9/0 circle hooks and 8 oz. leads. Now this may seem like overkill but let me tell you the monsters out here are mean and sometimes they leave you with just a facial expression! Fully stocked we had a live well full of Pinfish and plenty of frozen Sardines and Threadfins so we went to work. Something

crazy happened, I was dropping down a dead bait to the bottom and all the sudden my line went sideways. I looked to the left and saw a huge Sailfish jump out of the water about 4 feet and he put on about a 5 minute show jumping out of the water. I could not believe he hit my dead bait on the way down to the bottom and now I had him hooked, he was a good-looking man about 7 feet long. I got him to the boat pretty quick after that, took a quick photo and safely released him back into the Gulf. Moving out deeper we were heading to our “secret” Gag Grouper spots to try and land a beast. We hit one spot and it was loaded with Gag’s and some firetruck Red’s. At one point everyone was hooked up on the boat and all the rods were bent. It was a long day of fishing and with all the fish we caught at it was at least 500 lbs. that day. We were ending the day fishing in 200 plus feet of water and started to wrap things up about 2 p.m. to get ready to head in. It was great trip but putting that “throttle down” to head in was a good feeling too, I was ready for a shower. Fishing in the Gulf is amazing you never know what you are going to catch and fishing with Capt. Tommy LaRonge and the Let’s Take it Outside crew you are guaranteed a reeling good time. WHAT DOES IT TAKE? The Hudson Florida Wal-Mart may be a great store, however, how many deaths does take to correct the traffic patterns. There have been NINE FATAL VEHICLE CRASHES and five pedestrian deaths. The latest was Rob Cartwright. After performing at High Octane in Homosassa, Rob of the Bearded Brothers Band, was traveling south on US Highway 19 when a car making an illegal U-Turn entered his path. The accident was un-avoidable and our friend Rob lost his life. Rob was well known as the “Fiddle Beard” of the Bearded Brothers, but to those who knew him, he was a true friend, great father and family man and the type of person who was “real”. Yes, he was a local celebrity and you would never know it by meeting him. He always put his family and friends first. Rob loved performing and loved riding his Harley. It’s horrific that his life was lost, but his memory will never be forgotten. Team Farrell together with other sponsors are planning “The Rob Cartwright Amphitheater” and the Bearded Brothers remain together. Well after Rob’s accident several people decided that the loss of life on US Highway is unacceptable and the intersection at Wal-Mart had to be changed. Mr. David Cruz, the owner of Florida Professional Motorcycle Training, Inc., who is also an EMT and works at the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office took action. Dave together with Let’s Ride assembled statistical information and contacted the County Commissioners and other government officials. At first this was an up-hill battle. However once Commissioner Jack Mariano became involved things started to happen. Publically on May 23rd, Commissioner Mariano said “they’re tired of seeing people die out there” referencing the reactions of Hudson area residents. Make no mistake, it’s difficult to have any highway traffic pattern changed. There is always opposition and it’s a fight. However, the commissioner gained the cooperation of FDOT and continued to travel the path for change. “The safety of our residents is a paramount issue in our community”. The changes will not happen overnight, but the county will design the changes in 2018 and proceed with land acquisi-

tion and improvements in fiscal 2020 as the plan now stands. Commissioner Mariano has been working with Pasco County Engineer Margaret W. Smith and others to gain the support needed. Now, the FDOT has agreed and the plan is moving forward. The commitments are in place, this will happen. “We simply could not stand by” said Cruz. There are three signs that say “No U-Turn” and it seems motorists ignore them regularly. This area of US Highway 19 in Hudson logs some 52,000 vehicles per day. Further, there is no traffic signal on the six lane highway in about a 1.87 mile stretch. The motorcycle community is much larger than most people realize in the Tampa Bay area. We promote education and safety, but when a car turns in front of you when you are traveling 40+ MPH it’s an impossible situation said Cruz. Let’s Ride, a motorcycle store located on US Highway 19, said “we hear stories all the time of close calls” and having proper riding gear is important, but training and defensive riding is the key. Owner, Lisa Gulde said “more often than not, it’s the car who doesn’t see the rider, texting and phone use is an issue”. Now that FDOT and the County have approved this project we at Full Throttle, Lets Ride, Florida Professional Motorcycle Training, Inc. are committed to continue our efforts in awareness and prevention of the dangers facing all motorcycles. We encourage and thank all of the people who signed petitions and made calls in support of this particular project and we would like to extend a special thanks to our County Commissioner Jack Mariano whose personal efforts made this project possible. We are supporting stronger laws for distracted driving, texting and reckless operation that has cost so many lives. The person on that motorcycle is a father, mother, brother, works and pays taxes. The rider actually has more licensure than an automobile driver and has equal rights to use, enjoy and operate their motorcycle on our roadways. Said best by The Fran Haasch Law Group “Watch out for Bikers”. Please be considerate as they do not have bumpers, fenders or a cage around them for protection. In closing, RIP our friend
Rob Cartwright, you are missed and not forgotten.

“Every girl’s crazy about a sharp dressed man.” Trezz Hombres I have been trying to catch this band for months, subjecting them to all my FB post, They have graciously liked my kid pictures and Biker events on social media in the meantime. I felt like I knew them already, or at least they knew me and still agreed to the interview haha. It was perfect timing, you can thank the eclipse for the interview this month. I am a huge fan of their music, as our many of our readers. So here goes Trezz Hombres. So, you have seen many tribute bands, and we all loved ZZ top. What makes this band stand out is their acute attention to detail. From the choreography, the vocals, music, breaks and instruments… you’re with ZZ Top. They have a passion for this. As a national touring act, they are sought after from Sturgis to Florida Biker events. These gentlemen RIDE too. HD Fat Boy was the unanimous choice of Bikes when I asked. Biker events are their favorite venue. John Bayman , Rob Rogers and Rich King, yes they all have day jobs from pilot to building official. They told me music doesn’t pay all the bills, “You gotta love what you do”. Music is their outlet, their hobby when they are not busy with their wives, kids and day jobs. They are likable, God loving, family men. Rob was brought up singing in the church choir, while pursuing a career in rock and roll. They have all been in bands since their youth. As a teenager John Bayman performed with “Solid State” opening for Alice Cooper, Ted Nugent, Crow to name a few. I said that must have made you pretty popular in school. “Oh Yes!” Jimmy Hendrix was a huge inspiration, after finding out he was a fan of “Billy Gibbons” they turned their attention to the blues chords of ZZ Top and thus we have “Trezz
Hombres.” I asked what was next. They hope to be on Access Tv’s “World’s Greatest Tribute bands” show. Already winning many votes for best tribute band in America from many music sites. And as John put it “dreams do not come with an expiration date”. They work with owner and Agent Rich Rubin of Maximum Bands Entertainment, who they say has given them nothing but the best gigs and works harder than anyone they know in the music industry at it. After seeing Rich’s work in Daytona, I have to agree. Of course, I had to ask what their most fun and most embarrassing gig was… most fun, being on stage during the Bikini finals at Thunder Beach Panama City as the winners were announced. I am sure they had a nice view! Most embarrassing was at the same event. Moms were protesting spring breakers outside of their venue, saying the young kids partying were disruptive to their community/children…they laughed and said the embarrassing part was “we were all much older than any Mom out there protesting the young spring breakers”. With age comes experience though… and they work hard to be as close to the real thing as possible. With much success if you have ever seen them play. Find them on their FB page” Trezz Hombres”, the web TrezzHombres.com and at some of Florida’s best Biker events. On a side note, school has started! No more daily fishing with all my boys,(until someone wants to sponsor a “Full Throttle” fishing team haha) Since then I have been busy chasing down David Smith while he is blasting himself out of cannons, (see his ad in this month’s magazine),enjoying Bike nights at the Red Tiki, and ready to do Bike nights closer to my home on Anna Maria Island too. (that means Sarasota/ Bradenton for all you who still have not found my paradise) Please call I’ll help you set up one or promote yours in Full Throttle. But hurry. My life is about to be a little busier. I am running for commissioner in our quiet little city of Anna Maria. I bet I am the first biker chick on the ballot. I believe that’s a good thing. Instead of complaining about politics I am throwing myself into the lion’s den. Add it to the growing list on my resume. Full Throttle is still by far the most interesting/ fun job I have ever had though. Next to being a Mom that is. ‘ Till Biketoberfest, Laurie Jo FB Laurie Jo Full Throttle Instagram Laurie_Fullthrottlemagazine lauriefullthrottle@gmail.com 941-448-5624
