Here we are, starting the best time of the year to ride in Florida. I know September is still scorching hot but now we have football season, some great end of summer rides like Peterson’s Poker Run and we are right around the corner from great events like Cotee River Bike Fest and Biketoberfest in Daytona Beach! Be sure to read Full Throttle Magazine every month and keep an eye on our Facebook page for all the great events happening each week. We also have a weekly email blast you can sign up for on our website Floridafullthrottle.com on the home page. Just enter your email address and we will send you everything going on each week and more! You can also connect with us on our Instagram page that is growing very fast! The Florida Motorcycle Expo and Bike Builder Invitational is coming together at an alarming pace! This month we released all our national Acts that will be playing each day! Thursday night is Brian Howe from Bad Company, Friday is Autograph and back by popular demand, LITA FORD. Saturday is VIXEN and WINGER!!!! And Sunday we are giving away a custom Road Glide Harley-Davidson for FREE with Soul Circus Cowboys and Jack Russel’s Great White. The custom Road Glide is going to be awesome with paint by Eric Warren, center stand, air ride and much more. Special thanks

to Bert’s Barracuda, Misfit Metal Works, Cotee River Cycles, Jodi Weiss and everyone else that is helping us get the bike together! It will be one heck of a bike to win for FREE!!! In fact, the whole entire event is FREE to attend! This year it will be across the street from Quaker Steak at the New home of Bert’s Barracuda Harley-Davidson. WE ARE STILL LOOKING FOR SPONSORSHIPS FOR THE EXPO ALSO! Sponsors is how we keep this great event free to the public and all sponsors get great advertising, booth spaces, VIP tickets, logos on all expo advertising and 12 months of ads in Full Throttle Magazine! It is a great deal for sure. Call us if you are interested at 727-935-4875. NEW WEDNESDAY BIKE NIGHT!!! We moved our Wednesday Bike night from Quaker to Joe’s Crab Shack for a few months and it has been going well. Joe’s had a hard time keeping up with the volume of people that were coming to bike night and the parking lot was a little small for all the bikes showing up. We decided to look for a new location that had a bigger, more open lot, was a little more biker friendly, easier to find and get in and out of and able to handle the volume of people that were showing up. So, we have moved Wed. Bike night to BUFFALO WILD WINGS on US 19 in clearwater next to the Threshers Baseball field! This has a huge open lot, lots of space, great food and a staff that is willing and ready to serve the biker community! We hope you come out and enjoy this new location. FULL THROTTLE = Keeping it new, Keeping it Fresh! I would like to wish everyone a great September and a happy birthday to my amazing girlfriend, Kandi, Happy birthday! Be safe while riding and watch out for the rain, it seems to pop up out of nowhere this time of year. Ride Safe, Ride Smart, don’t drink and ride and I will see you all soon!

Do you have Handlebaraphobia? People are known to have many kinds of fears. There’s fear of heights, fear of flying, even fear of clowns. But, if you’re a motorcycle rider, the worst fear you can have is a fear of turning your handlebars. Never heard of that? Well, I see it all the time at my Ride Like a Pro classes. Some people are so afraid of turning their handlebars, they can take 200 feet to turn their motorcycle around. I kid you not. A while back, I had a rider at my class that told me she had ridden from Central Florida to Key Largo to Maine, to California, Texas and then back to Florida. As we started the class, I wondered if she took that trip simply because she found it easier to ride around the entire country rather than make a U-turn to go home. You may be thinking, why would someone fear turning their handlebars? The reason they have that fear is because they know instinctively that turning the handlebars will make the bike lean and the only thing they fear more than turning, is leaning. Unfortunately, for a motorcycle or any two-wheeled vehicle to turn, it must lean; unless you’re going below 5 mph. Anything above 5 mph, you must allow the bike to lean and you must turn the handlebars. Recently, I had a rider that so feared turning and lean-
16
ing, I wondered how she rode to the class location. To find out, I told her to ride around the block, so I could follow her just to see how she managed not turning and leaning. As we pulled out of the parking lot, she had to make a right turn. To accomplish this, she pointed her bike at a right angle, so she could cut the corner. This kept the bike as straight up as possible. Next, we came to a stop sign where she had to make another right. Again, she positioned her bike in the extreme part of the left lane and pointing to the right. She then rolled the stop sign at 3 mph. This of course required almost no turn of the bars and no lean. It also caused her to go slightly into the oncoming lane. At the next stop sign, I told her to make a full stop because I had to see how she could do this without turning the bars. She of course couldn’t do that so she simply duck-walked the bike through the turn until she was pointed straight ahead. Very inventive, but dangerous if there was a car behind her that was expecting a normal turn that would take seconds instead of more than a minute. So, if you’re reading this and saying to yourself, “that’s exactly what I do”, here’s how to get over this fear. Get your bicycle that’s been sitting in your garage that you’re using to hang your jacket on, put some air in the tires and start riding it. Make some U-turns, ride in circles both to the left and to the right. Quickly snap your head to the left and right and turn the bars to go where you are looking and let that bike LEAN. In an hour or so, your fear of turning and leaning should diminish or even disappear once your brain gets accustomed to leaning. If after a couple of practice sessions your fear is still there, get a trike. You’ll be much safer on three wheels or even four. Till next month, get out there and practice. Well, as it seems for every month, we have a lot on our plates for the month of September! Looking forward to a bunch of new Bike Nights in and around the Tampa Bay area, and getting ready for the weather to cool down, even if its just a bit. While we are all out and about, doing our thing this month, make sure you squeeze in a moment to reflect on that fateful day back on the 11th of September, 2001. It was one of those polarizing events in a persons lifetime that they can rememebr what it was they were doing when the heard the news. I can ask my Father about when President Kennedy was assassinated and he can descibe the day to the “T”. Same goes for me with 9/11. I was a young 2nd Class Petty Officer onboard the USS Enterprise (CVN-65), I was working the night shift, as part of the Troubleshooter work center, and I had just come off of the flight deck with a fellow 2nd Class when we saw the news on the television. Now… this was our very first day of “out-chop” (heading HOME) from the Persian Gulf, following 5 months of an already eventful deployment. We were heading towards Capetown, South Africa, for some much deserved Liberty. And more importantly, 2 days away from
34
getting our “shellback” certification. (that’s the ceremony that is held when you cross the Equator you slimy wog). Well, precisely 10 seconds following the collapse of the second tower, the ship stopped. We all knew that we were awaiting orders. My shipmate, “Kenny” and I, watched his cousin and Uncle (both FDNY Rescue 1) rush into the tower mere moments before its collapse, and was speechless when the dust finally settled and these two great Americans and American landmarks were gone. We sat there, well… floated there.. for what seemed like forever. No one in the ship was asleep, everyone was working, getting ready for whatever call came our direction. Eventually, the ships rotors started moving, and we made a hard turn, “heel to Starboard” and headed back into the fray. The missions happened early and often, and kept us extended for another two months until our relief arrived. That was my story. I am sure that anyone who reads this article has their own. Personally, I would love to hear it. Congrats to the newly Pinned Chiefs roaming the deckplates, you are “the Chief” now, act accordingly. Invest Smart, Ride Safe As I look back on the past several months, I am reminded of the all the great events we have enjoyed in our biking community this summer. It has once again been a pleasure spending time with those of you who are long-time friends, as well as meeting so many wonderful new friends and clients. As we prepare for the beautiful riding weather that the fall season brings, you should take this time to review your investment portfolio to see how prepared it is to weather the coming seasons. Especially those of you traveling down the retirement highway. Here are a few questions you may want to consider as we shift gears for coming days of fall: • Have there been substantial changes in your life since your last investment review? Should your investing strategy have changed too? • Is your investment objective growth, income, or a combination of the two? Is your portfolio still in-line with these objectives?
• Are you less than comfortable with Uncle Sam’s impact on your investments? Are your pursuing ideas to address this impact? Many of you have trekked down roads in search of a great ride. Well, a great ride takes planning prior to hitting the pavement; the same goes for your financial journey. If you do not have a destination in-mind, any road will get you there, but do you really want to end up just anywhere in retirement? Of course not. But I think we can all agree that with so many new options coming into the market every day, it can be extremely difficult to simply understand the ever-changing investment universe and still have the time for…well… just about anything else. This is where my more than 35 years’ financial services experience comes in. Whether you are facing the need of retirement income, pursuing growth, or simply have questions about your current portfolio mix; I am here to help, so give me a call. Let’s design an investment plan that is custombuilt with your desired destination in mind, so you can enjoy the scenery along the way. I take a helicopter approach in helping you pursue your current goals, which for many investors are not the same goals from 10 years ago. I look forward to working with you through the many seasons of your life. Wow, where do I start? We have been so busy with the end of summer nearing and the heat finally on it's way out, riding season is starting to take off. We have put together a lot of fun stuff for this fall. Lots of new bike nights keeping everything fresh and new. We have a few festivals that we are working on for this winter season. Keep a look out for them. These could be the biggest things Central Florida and the biker community has ever seen. Let me throw out a quick list of up coming bike nights that I think will be fantastic. We have Bumpa's Fish Shack in Tarpon Springs on Sept. 27th. We also have Peggy O's down in Palm Harbor by the Law Offices of Fran Haasch on Sept. 6th. This one will be real good right in the middle of downtown Palm Harbor. We also made our way down to Madeira Beach to the Brown Boxer on Sept. 6th. Now, if you're up in the Pasco County Area, we put together a Sunday Fun day at the new Southern Comfort Saloon on the 4th Sunday of every month starting on the 23rd of Sept. If you haven't been up to the saloon, you don't know what you're missing.

I wish I had more room to write, there is so much more to list. As I sit here writing this, all I can think about is Milwaukee and the 115th Anniversary of Harley-Davidson that we are leaving for later today. Watch the Full Throttle Facebook page for pictures and live streams. I am looking forward to seeing the Harley museum and the tour of the factory. Between the 115th, Ocean City Bike Fest, Capital City Bike Fest and Bikes Blues and Barbecue Bike Fest up in Arkansas along with all the incredible bike nights Sept. is going to be one hell of a run. I would also like to mention. Be careful and look out for bikers. I get so tired of seeing US19 take one of us out damn near everyday. As the weather starts cooling, and the snow birds start showing up, it will only get worse. Just look twice and save a life, expecially your own! As always, be free and ride safe. Hello bikers hope everyone made it safe back from Sturgis. What a great rally this year. Full Throttle made its home once again at the WorldFamous Buffalo Chip. Thank you again to all the staff at Buffalo Chip for treating us wonderful again this year. Camp ground was packed, and the party never stopped. The show kicked off with a reunion of the band Foreigner and never slowed down from there. Marshall Tucker Band, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Lita Ford, Kid Rock and so much more rocked the Buffalo Chip all week long. But that was all we had up in Sturgis. Full Throttle had ride in bike shows at Buffalo Chip, Full Throttle Saloon and in Deadwood SD. Thank you to all the bikers that had some amazing machines in out bike shows. Can’t wait to see what they bring for next year’s shows. The month of September is the calm before the storm for the motorcycle season to get kicked off

here in Florida but don’t think the Cup Cake crew here at Full Throttle are just kicking back in the hammock here under the shade tree in the back yard, We are headed for Milwaukee for the 115th Harley Davidson Rally, also up to Ocean City Maryland for the DC Rally and then finish off at the Fayetteville Ark rally. So still some time to get that last out of state ride in. October kicks off with Cottee River Bike fest right here in New Port Richey, Then it’s off to Daytona for Biketoberfest and after 1 whole day home I’m off to Panama City Beach for the Thunder Beach Fall Rally once again at the Boardwalk. Check out the Boardwalk ad in this month’s issue for room rates and reservations. Well that’s all from the Back Yard. Ride safe everyone and remember Always Keep Your Stick On The Ice. MONGO

Guess they don't get many families there hunting pythons toting machetes or something. Swamp Ride/Hunt 2018 who’s in? Hey there folks! Welcome to September in The Florida Keys! While everyone else is looking forward to milder weather we are encroaching on the hottest part of the year down here. Had yet another successful run up and down the Keys distributing and talking to folks about Full Throttle. This time, however, my road partner was my daughter Kelly, as Christy had to work. She had an amazing time making the trip and spreading the Full Throttle mission. We also, as always, made some new friends. Bruce, the Manager at Key West Tattoo Company has a good time with us. Come on down to Stock Island when you are ready for some ink and have him set you up. They have some great talent there ready to set you up! Well the kids are back in school, and football season it around the corner. With that brings Labor Day weekend. So we ask that you enjoy the long weekend and be safe. After doing a little research I found an interesting correlation between the inception of Labor Day and motorcycles.
82
The first governmental recognition of Labor Day came through municipal ordinances passes during 1885 and 1886. At this time a man named Gottlieb Daimler invented the first gas engine motorcycle which was an engine attached to a wooden bike. Hat marked the moment in history when the dual development of a viable gas powered engine and the modern bicycle collided and American Sylvester Howard Roper invented the two cylinder steam engine motorcycle. Labor Day celebrates the Labor Movement and the hard work that people put forth. I am certain this fine American fits that mold. Well folks as always it’s been fun! Parents, enjoy those kids being back to school, until next month we leave you with this, “No work in insignificant. all Labor that uplifts humanity has dignity and importance and should be undertaken with painstaking excellence.” - Martin Luther King Jr.
Where has the year gone? Here we are in September, Labor Day and good time and the start of the fall season, cooler weather. If you are looking for somewhere to go and something to do, come to Tallahassee. Full Throttle hosts bike night at Tallahassee Harley-Davidson the 3rd Thursday of every month. The band for this month is "six strings south" this is a local band that plays good toe tapping music. Full Throttle will be doing a bike show with trophy's, food and beverages. The August bike night was a success, even though the weather looked bad, we had a good turnout. Razor performance
put on a great riding demo on how to ride on the edge. Everyone had a good time and what nice sunset. Anytime you are in the Tallahassee area stop by Tallahassee H-D And meet Ricky, the general manager, and the friendly staff. On Saturday’s and Sunday’s be sure to stop in for a hot dog and meet the Harley girls. They are just off exit 199 next to Dairy Queen. Until next month, remember to ride safe no matter what you ride. Hi, Everyone! It was another great event month in South FL! Catching you all up on the last two mos! So much going on around the 4th of July- such a patriotic time here with fireworks and concerts in virtually every park and flags flying behind the Harleys So Kool! We rode to several parks that hold free concerts on weekends, including; Holiday park, Mizner park, Carter park, Hollywood Bch Bandshell, Riverwalk park, Galuppis on the green and Las Olas. There's a broad range of musical varieties from Jazz to Pop and awesome food from many local food trucks! So get out there and enjoy a free concert! Attended the U.S. Military Vets MC Annual, held at the Tin Cup golf course in Cooper City, music by Velocity rocking the crowd. It was a great turnout, with a lot of bikes, vets and clubs that came out to show their support! Great job 'Crash'! (pres. of USMVMC). We had a great memorial ride for our friend, Bonanza, with approximately 120+ bikers who rode to Key Largo. Beautiful ceremony to start the day at Cafe 27. Huge local biker community turnout, so great to see everyone! The ride took us to Gilbert's resort where 'Shadow Creek' band was playing- a big thumbs up to this new band, hope to see more of them! Continued the ride up to Shooters waterfront on the intracoastal in Ft. laud. where one of our favorite bands 'Big Rock Band' was wowing the crowd- everyone was dancing despite the oppressive heat - happy to get back on the bike to air out!! This was a Shooters 'Rock the Dock' event which is held

once a month with a great band line-up playing throughout the day. Fun place to ride and hang out by the water, a lot of beautiful boats docking and dining there! So check it out! We hit some great local venues throughout the month including Road Dawg in west Davie- new owners Linda & Todd bringing some awesome local bands into their place - 'Shovel head' and 'Hired Gunz' both smokin' hot rock n' roll biker bands have been jammin' at this tavern! Jimbos Sandbar in Dania Beach - intracoastal- their motto is 'No Bad Day Zone' and Dania Beach Bar & Grill - ocean side where 'JP Soars and the Red Hot' Blues band was playing his famous Cigar Box guitar- the crowd can't get enough of this wild - amazing sound!! The American Legion has been featuring some great bands on Friday nites as well, including Cool Change and HooDoo Blues band- the lead singer makes you feel like you're in Las Vegas. She really draws the crowd in with her sultry movesdancing & singing while she works the room -getting the patrons all hot and bothered - lol what a show!! Good job Eddy for getting these bands into the Legion! That's it for now- more from KJ's Korner next month! Let's enjoy the ride & keep the rubber on the road! *** If you would like to advertise- Please contact me @ KJFullThrottleMag@gmail.com

On hearing that her elderly grandfather had just passed away, Katie went straight to her grandparent's house to visit her 95 year old grandmother and comfort her. When she asked how her grandfather had died, her grandmother replied, "He had a heart attack while we were making love on Sunday morning." Horrified, Katie told her grandmother that 2 people nearly 100 years old having sex would surely be asking for trouble. "Oh no, my dear, " replied granny. "Many years ago, realizing our advanced age, we figured out the best time to do it was when the church bells would start to ring. It was just the right rhythm. Nice and slow and even. Nothing too strenuous, simply in on the Ding and out on the Dong." She paused, wiped away a tear and then continued, "And if that damned ice cream truck hadn't come along, he'd still be alive today! ------------------------------It was the end of the school year. The teacher had turned in her grades; there was nothing really for the class to do. All the kids were restless and it was near the end of the day. So the teacher thought of an activity. She said, "The first ones to answer correctly the questions I ask may leave early today." Little Johnny said to himself, "Good, I'm smart and I want to get outa here." The teacher asked, "Who said 'Four Score and Seven Years Ago'?" But before Johnny could open his mouth, Susie said, "Abraham Lincoln?" The teacher said, "That's right, Susie. You may go." Johnny was mad that Susie had answered first. The teacher asked, "Who said 'I Have a Dream'?" But before Johnny could open his mouth, Mary said, "Martin Luther King!" The teacher said, "That's right, Mary. You may go." Johnny was even madder than before. Mary had answered first. The teacher asked, "Who said 'Ask not what your country can do for you'?" Before Johnny could open his mouth, Nancy piped, "John Kennedy!" The teacher said, "That's right, Nancy. You may go." Now Johnny was furious! Nancy had answered first. Then the teacher turned her back, and Johnny muttered, "I

wish these girls would keep their mouths shut!" The teacher spun around. "WHO SAID THAT?" Johnny said, "BILL CLINTON. CAN I GO NOW?" ----------------------------An engineer dies and is sent to hell He's hot and miserable, so he decides to take action. The A/C has been busted for a long time, so he fixes it. Things cool down quickly. The moving walkway motor jammed, so he unjams it. People can get from place to place more easily. The TV was grainy and unclear, so he fixes the connection to the Satellite dish and now they get hundreds of high def channels. One day, God decides to look down on Hell to see how his grand design is working out and notices that everyone is happy and enjoying umbrella drinks. He asks the Devil what's up? The Devil says, "Things are great down here since you sent us an engineer." "What?" says God. "An engineer? I didn't send you one of those. That must have been a mistake. Send him upstairs immediately." The Devil responds, "No way. We want to keep our engineer. We like him." God demands, "If you don't send him to me immediately, I'll sue!" The Devil laughs. "Where in Hell are YOU going to get a lawyer?" -----------------------------A man, his wife, and his mother in-law went on vacation to the Holy Land. While they were there, the mother-in-law passed away. The undertaker told them, "You can have her shipped home for $5,000, or you can bury her here in the Holy Land for $150.00." The man thought about it and told him he would just have her shipped home. The undertaker asked, "Why would you spend $5,000 to ship your mother in-law home, when it would be wonderful to have her buried here and spend only $150.00?" The man replied, "A man died here 2,000 years ago, was buried here, and three days later he rose from the dead. I just can't take that chance." -------------------------------When people tell me "You're gonna regret that in the morning",..... I sleep in until noon, because I'm a problem solver! -------------------------------A prostitute just told me she would do anything for $10.00! Guess who just got their motorcycle washed?
