Football Season is finally here, GO BUCS!!! I have a feeling it will be a long season being a Bucs fan. We went to a Pre-season Bucs game and tailgated with MoraMoto when they played the Browns. We did win the game but did not look very good doing it. Full Throttle also has our own fantasy football league, and guess who won it all last year? You are correct, yours truly! So, I am hoping to defend my crown and win again this year! I would like to recognize the WEST COAST FLORIDA RIDERS and all they are doing in the motorcycle community lately! They seem to have come out of nowhere and now have a Facebook page with over 2,000 and are showing up strong to events with 30 – 50 bikes sometimes! They originate over the Bridge with Chris and Lee running the show, organizing the rides and putting together the parties. Their saying is, “Ain’t No Party Like A West Coast Party” and that is becoming very true. They started with a bike night at the Angry Rooster and the place was absolutely packed. Then the owner sold the restaurant and they needed to find a new location for the third Thursday Bike Night and came across Stottlemyers BBQ. This is an awesome place with great food and the biggest tiki hut I have ever seen. The first bike night was rained out and they re-scheduled for the next Thursday and it did not disappoint. The place was packed!!! Be sure to go on Facebook and join their page (WCFR – West Coast Florida Riders) Great job to the Chris & Lee & the whole crew there putting on some great bike nights and events.

The Full Throttle 23rd Anniversary Party will be held this year at New Port Richey Harley-Davidson on Sunday November 10th. We like giving back here at Full Throttle so for our anniversary this year we are giving back $100 for every year we have been in business, that’s $2,300!!! The event this year will be at the new Bert’s Barracuda Harley-Davidson on 49th Street across from Quaker Steak and Lube. We are working on the national bands as I write this and let me tell you, the bands this year are awesome!!!! The Expo will be 5 days February 5th – 9th (Wed – Sunday) Wednesday night will be a bike night kick-off party and is free to attend from 5pm till 10pm. Thursday, Friday and Saturday we will have 2 national acts playing each night. We are working with the booking agents now to get them booked and the bands will be released very soon. Sunday will be free to attend as well with our annual ride in bike show, great bands and the $30,000 Bike Builder Invitational Awards. Crashes Involving Motorcycles: Most single vehicle crashes involving motorcycles, occur while negotiating a curve. Accident investigators have found that the crash is almost always the riders fault and was not due to sand or gravel on the road along with other obstacles. Investigators have also found that in most cases, the motorcycle was capable of making the curve at the speed the rider was traveling.
So, why did the rider crash??? What generally happens is the rider believes he/she is going too fast to complete the turn so they hit the brake with the bike leaned over, consequently, the bike slides out from under the rider or the rider releases the brake and high sides. Some riders will hear the pegs scrape, panic, and straighten the bike up and run right off the road. Others will simply look at the edge of the road and of course, the bike will go where you are looking and you will ride off the edge of the road. To avoid these situations is very easy. First, become familiar with the maximum lean angle of your bike. Do so in a parking lot at low speeds. You will find that scraping the pegs still allows you to maintain control and is not a reason to panic and straighten up the bike. Second, NEVER brake hard in a turn with the bike leaned over. If you’re going to have to brake hard, you must first straighten the bike up even if it means going into the opposing lane. The safest procedure for negotiating a curve is to place the motorcycle in the portion of the lane which gives you the most visibility around the turn. Quite simply, if the road curves to the right, you should be in the left side of your lane looking to the end of the curve and visa versa. You need to look as far to the end of the curve as you possibly can and keep your head level with the horizon. NEVER look at the line in the road or the vehicles coming in the opposite direction. Damn it's hot. Good ol’ summertime in Florida. At least it hasn't rained very much, lol. One good thing to look forward to is summer and Aug. is about over. Just a Couple more months to go and we all can enjoy riding again without out sweating our brains out. August has been a little slow with all the rain and heat. The good thing is that it let us catch up on a lot of things around the office. The one big thing this month we did was get to enjoy the big move by Bert's Barracuda Harley-Davidson. The new dealership is open and rocking. Bert's and Law Fran fed the veterans last weekend for their first event. What a great turn out, there must have been 500 plus bikes there. Looked like a sea of motorcycles in the parking lot. They fed over 1000 vets that day. What a good feeling. As I sit here writing this all that is on my mind is the big Bert and Fran Jam Labor Day weekend. Getting everything together to go set up. Mini Expo on the
way. Now that I have mentioned Expo. We know there is a lot of rumors out there about our big Expo in Feb. Yes, some are true, but most are not. We will have a big announcement this month. Releasing what is going on. Let's just say this. We are bringing everyone one hell of a good time. Along with the biggest 5-day event this side of Florida has ever seen. Like always. Welcome to the “I survived Sturgis� back yard. What a great week is was out in Sturgis. Weather was great and as always it was an event to remember. The Full Throttle crew was camped out at Buffalo Chip and as always, the treated us great. We held the 5th Annual Florida Full Throttle Open Ride In Bike Show at The Chip this year. Thank you everyone that entered the show. Our Best in show was from Rods and Rides in St. Louis MO. But it was one of so many amazing bikes. Every class winner could have also been best in show. We even had a bike enter all the way from Switzerland that won our antique class. So, a

J-Sizzle trophy is going home overseas, also it was wonderful to see so many friends from Florida up there as well as seeing folks that we only get to see when we are up in Sturgis. Let me introduce you to two of the most extraordinary men in my life, Brendon and Bobby. This is Brendon. Brendon joined the Army at age of 17, when he was in his junior year of high school. After completing his junior year of high school he attended basic training at Fort Jackson, SC. Upon completion of basic training he finished his senior year, then shipped off to Advanced Individual Training (AIT) at Fort Leonardwood, MO. Brendon has done all of this before he was 20 years old. Since he has completed his training he has served one tour in Japan, and helped with the hurricane disaster relief that ravaged Florida. Brendon is currently deployed overseas and away from his family. He is an open wheel mechanic and absolutely loves what he does. He also has a little brother who is serving in the military. I would like to introduce you to Bobby. Bobby is in the navy. He went into the Navy shortly after graduating from high school. He is currently somewhere out at sea, but stationed in Japan for the next four years. Bobby has gotten to see parts of the world that most people dream about. He has visited Australia, Hong Kong, Tokyo, and many more. Due to the sen-

sitivity of Bobby’s position I cannot tell you exactly what he does, but I can tell you that he does it with pride. To top it all off, I cannot begin to tell you how proud as a mother I am that he is also going to start college to be a surgeon. As a mom, I have had many proud moments with these boys that I'm proud to call men. But, those two military graduation days where the most happiest and proudest days of my life! I'm proud to call you my sons. Thank you for serving your country and making me a proud military mom! I love you, Mom

To start this off article we certainly need to discuss the obvious “what is with all this rain?” It would certainly be nice if Mother Nature would give us some kind of break to actually enjoy our summer rides without requiring a change of clothes at each stop. This is not to mention the fact that we are even more at risk for drivers not seeing us when riding in inclement weather. Now that the rant is over let’s move on to better things. I would like to let everyone know that Florida Full Throttle Magazine will be celebrating our 23rd anniversary in November. With that we be having our an54
niversary party coming up at New Port Richey Harley Davidson on 10 November 2019. Vendors will be able to setup at this event for $50 each if you are interested in joining us. Thank you, Florida Full Throttle and Staff for another great Christmas in July Toy Drive to St. Joseph Children’s Hospital this year! Last year we took less than a truck load of toys to the Hospital which they were over appreciated of all the toys donated. I felt I could do more on my part to see this year’s event be more successful, so I put on Amy Howard’s Toy Drive in the community to collect as many toys as possible, so with the help of the following: Transamerica, my employer supplied all flyers, weekly work event, paid lunch to my departments employees and the employee’s donated toys and raised $750.00 cash donations selling coffee, donuts and raffle items that were donated by Mary Hearts, Eye Glass World Curlew Rd, Clearwater, Dave and Amy Gabbard, Stacey and Gabor Koppany, George Smith and Maryann, Artist Melissa Romanaux, Rose Boggess. The Sport Shack Bar and Grill, Largo FL and Staff for Toy Drop location and gave 20% off bill for donating. Integrity Auto Repair, Largo and Floyd’s Auto Body & Paint INC, Largo for Large donation of toys. My Fundraiser thru Facebook raised $1290.00 started out by Fran Haasch Law Firm
and chased My Belated Mother Jane from Illinois that so cherished this event, and followed by Dave, Amy, Margorie, Ellie, Frank, Adele, Lynda, Brenda, Susan & John, George, Jennifer, Jonie, Jessie and Jeff, Michele “Army Girl” and My Husband Greg Howard and all his amazing support! So many Generous People in the Community donated several hundred Toys! Besides a tune up, a few last minute customizations and a good detailing, many Harley owners are flocking to their local audio specialist to upgrade their stereo system. According to Peter Jensen, owner of Soundz, Inc. located in Daytona Beach, “One of the most popular requests has been to add Apple Carplay® to 2014 to 2018 Harleys. Harley Davidson® introduced the GTS radio with Carplay® in 2019 and customers with older bikes are looking for a way to retrofit them.
