Hello and welcome to Spring 2011!!! This is a great time to jump on your bike and ride as our temperatures are rising, winds are calm, rain is minimal and events are happening almost every day! This month features the ever-growing, ever-popular Leesburg Bike Fest that will take place April 8-10 and features hundreds of vendors, the Rat’s Hole Bike Show, Tattoo contest and the rock n’ roll band Jackyl on Saturday evening! Full Throttle will be there in force and we look forward to seeing all of you! I hope you all had a fun and safe Bike Week. All-in-all, the weather was good and the crowds looked huge! We had a booth at JP Cycles and the Iron Horse .... we also had a booth at the Boardwalk Bike Show and we were at the Rat’s Hole Show as well. Please take a look at the recap inside this issue! I hope you can makes plans to join Full Throttle at the Bay Area Renaissance Festival on Sunday, April 10th for a multi-class bike show with trophies sponsored by St.Pete Powersports and 98 Rock. Everybody with a motorcycle endorsement on their license will get $5 off admission to the Festival. We will get dressed up, eat giant turkey wings, watch medieval entertainment and take a walk back in time .... it should be a lot of fun! I want to send out big, happy, birthday wishes to my granddaughter Krysie and my father Paul this month. I love them both very much and hope they have great b-days! Please be careful out there and remember, the majority of all motorcycle accidents are NOT the motorcyclist’s fault! Watch for the “other guy” turning in front of you and please ride defensively. Have a great month ....

I would like to share an e-mail with everyone that I feel is great and was sent to us by someone who really understands Full Throttle Magazine.. Dear Tony, This magazine is great and is one of the only rider magazines I've ever read that is specifically designed for the reader and the rider. A lot of magazines just want to show how complex their layouts are, how complicated the writers can write, etc. This magazine looks great and is very informative. It's still easy to read even after a couple of beers. Keep up the good work! Floyd... Thanks Floyd, we appreciate the great words. April is looking like a busy month with Leesburg (April 8-10) and our Bike Show at the Renaissance Fest (Sun. April 10th) and so much more! I love Easter time! Great riding weather and the snow birds are heading back home to give us more room on the roads! Get out there and ride people, you are missing out if that bike is sitting in your garage on the weekends! We are looking for new sales people for all over the state and we are having a meeting on Thursday April 14th at Quaker Steak and Lube. Please call ahead to our office manager, Kandice 813-814-1424, so we have an idea on how many people are planning on showing up. We will touch on how Full Throttle runs, the commission you make on selling ads, doing recaps on events and doing good for the motorcycle community! Come say hi and find out how you can GET PAID TO BE A BIKER. Let’s Talk Turkey :) Full Throttle is a free publication that hits the streets around the 1st of each month. We stay free based on ad sales. But we have grown bigger than just our printed magazine in the past year or so. Today our LIVE MEDIA NETWORK reaches from our website that gets around 12,000 hits per month with close to 9,000 unique visitors, we have around 5,500 e-mails addresses on our weekly e-mail blasts and we have close to 4,500 fans on our Facebook fan page. When you advertise with us you get the whole network behind you, your business or your event! FULL THROTTLE HAS EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO MAKE YOU SEEN IN THE MOTORCYCLE COMMUNITY! Call me today to get a package rate on everything we offer. My cell number is 727-919-1743, please feel free to call at anytime if you have a question or you can always come up and shake my hand at Quaker Steak and Lube every Wednesday Night for the largest bike night in the state of Florida!!! There are a lot of birthdays in April so I am going down the list in order. Happy birthday to my beautiful, smart and amazing daughter, Krysie who turns 12. Love ya pumpkin! Another happy birthday to my gorgeous and very popular Girlfriend Tonya…Strawberries beautiful! And last but not least my Grandfather who still works everyday and never seems to slow down or get any older, love ya pops! PS – My birthday is on a Wed. night in May…party at Quaker!!!

HARLEY-DAVIDSON TO BECOME A SPONSOR OF THE 2011 HOKA HEY MOTORCYCLE CHALLENGE New Sponsor for 2011 Hoka Hey Motorcycle Challenge Announced

The Hoka Hey Motorcycle Challenge announced today that Harley-Davidson Motor Company will provide marketing and promotional support for the 2011 Hoka Hey Motorcycle Challenge. The Hoka Hey Motorcycle Challenge will present the world’s greatest long distance endurance motorcycle event in August of 2011. The event, the second annual in a series, will begin in Phoenix, Arizona and travel through all fortyeight contiguous States and Canada to Nova Scotia. The route will travel over 10,000 miles requiring passion and determination to complete. The event is open to all riders of Harley-Davidson motorcycles. Riders can ride the entire route or segments within the route. “We’re excited about what the Hoka Hey Motorcycle Challenge represents to our riders,” said Steve Piehl, Harley-Davidson Director of Customer Experience. “The new direction of being more about a personal test of touring endurance, where rider and machine stretch the boundaries of long-distance touring, appeals to us. It’s a perfect match for the superior touring experience and capabilities of HarleyDavidson motorcycles. ‘Hoka Hey’ translates to ‘It’s a good day to ride!’ and that is always the case on a Harley.” “The Hoka Hey is about being the greatest endurance motorcycle event ever held and we are very excited to become associated with the greatest motorcycles ever built,” said Jim Red Cloud, founder of the Hoka Hey Challenge. “HarleyDavidson’s support and guidance will certainly enhance this ambitious event.” The first twenty-five participants to reach the finish and who ride the complete stipulated route will be recognized as winners and be eligible for monetary awards. Each rider will have the opportunity to designate a selected “home HarleyDavidson dealership” when they enroll. The home dealers of the top five finishers will be eligible for awards and recognition alongside the riders. There will be fifteen check points along the route located at Harley-Davidson dealers where participants must check in as they ride the route. In addition to being an event sponsor, Harley-Davidson is exploring hosting a check point at the Harley-Davidson Museum in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. For further information about the Hoka Hey Motorcycle Challenge or to obtain enrollment information, visit the event’s web site www.hokaheychallenge.com or contact the office at 480-649-1071 or info@hokaheychallenge.com.

Classic Bike Ramblings COMPASSION...................B-17's ..........and BIFF BURGER It’s sometimes interesting to find out what people know and don't know when it comes to history both local and from the past. With the weather turning nicer I have recently been able to do what I was born for and that’s take my boat out. I recently had Fran Haasch and her family, some co workers and friends out for a day of yachting a kind of after "500" thank you cruise. Now there is a story on Fran in the works and the boat ride would have been a great way to get some facts and the story line together and start getting the ball rolling so to speak. But my friends, it was one of those spring days of which we only get about 8 of here in Florida. You know that week of bliss between really cold and really hot. And it was much too nice a day to talk shop or put a story together. I will be around, Fran will be around and it will be done, but you can't hurry the Pulitzer Prize stuff, ya know? But in my conversation with Fran I brought up Biff Burgers and the fact the entire chain began right here in the Clearwater/Largo area. And I was surprised that her (and others I have recently talked to at bike nights) did not know a lot about the burger chain's past history that stretched from here to Canada. Both Fran and I agreed it would be a great story to get out there. It's no secret to you my 108 loyal readers, I like German history, fun women and Biff Burgers. A local burger with a great bike night and a side of history. Well you see my wonderful burger hungry friends, it all started way back in 1956 right here in sunny Clearwater, Florida where Bruce and Earl Brane opened the first restaurant. Now Biff was not the nickname of either brother, no it stood for "Best In Fast Food" and the chain would stretch through the Southeast and into Canada and as far west as Texas numbering 800 stores in the end. So you ask what made them the "Best”? Maybe it was the patented "Roto-broiled" process? These broilers were designed and built by the Brane brothers at their manufacturing plant located at 9470 Ulmerton Road. This address was also the home office to what became the National Biff Burger System Inc. This "Roto-broiled" slogan appeared on many of the original Biff Burger signs that had been designed to make them stand out from the other chains starting up as most were frying their burgers at this time. The burger was placed on the upper rotisserie

rack and was broiled between two heating elements; a lower rack within the Roto-broiler was used for the buns where they caught the drippings from the 100% western beef burger broiling on the upper rack where it would "flavor" Mr. 510 the bun. After several minutes the burger would come out the other side of the Rotobroiler. According to Biff Burgers corporate literature 500 broiled burgers and matching buns could be made per hour by "inexperienced" help in the R-22 broiler. It would then be dipped into the "special sauce". Maybe it was this "special sauce" that made them "Best”? This was called "the heart and soul" of a Biff Burger. The patty was to be broiled in the Roto-Red broiler, and then dipped in a "special tangy sauce" made of 27 spices and combinations of condiments. It is said the original recipe for this secret sauce is buried somewhere under the last original Biff Burger in a time capsule. When I asked Troy Musser one of the owners of this "last one" he would neither confirm or deny this fact. Biff Burgers had a very distinctive architecture and look to them. So much so that even today you can tell that it's a former location whether its a car lot or a liquor store in the old building. The original Biffs were portable or modular units well known for their use of 3 colored diamonds of red, yellow and teal. The building resembled a "W" shape with each ends canopy being upswept. They featured walk up or drive through service windows and out door table seating. In its very beginning before the franchise stores, the Brane brothers used a small box style building with only one canopy similar to the ice cream stores of the 1950's , in fact the second Biff Burger ever built and opened is located at 102 North Missouri Ave. and houses the Largo Sub Shop now. It has undergone very few alterations over its 54 years of existence. But the beginning of the 1960's there were many fast food operations springing up along our nations roads and Biffs needed a design that would stand out and be noticed, and one that would bring uniformity to a nationwide chain and a layout that would be patron friendly but easy to work in. It would also have to be easy to construct as the franchise was growing at

a fast rate. It was at this point the Port-A-Unit pre-fabricated building would be designed; the "W" shape that our very own Biffs represents. Able to be built at the Ulmerton Road site and transported anywhere, it could be set up with relative ease on the owners site and it could be serving Roto-burgers with in weeks of purchasing the franchise (normal buildings could take 6 months). There were a couple of variations of the iconic Port-A-Unit building. The Canadian version had multiple upswept roof peaks of a "carousel" nature and there was the accordion shaped roof or "A" wedge building used in N.C. and Virginia. This was due to the fact that many of these were owned by the same man who built numerous locations before the standardized Port-A-Unit building was put into production. Then there was the signature space age eye-catching sign to end all road side signs that you got with your Port-A-Unit building and franchise. The sign at our Biff Burgers on 49th. Street North remains very true to the day it was erected. So what ended Biffs? The Mary Carter Paint Co. who in 1962 had bought the National Biff Burger System and taken over support and supplying the chains restaurants would move in the direction of casinos and other risky ventures and it would create big financial problems. In 1976 it would end its support of the National Biff Burger System. Franchise restaurants would scramble to try and find food suppliers and the printed cups, napkins and products it took to operate. At the same time this was

happening Burger King was becoming a huge force in the fast food business. Burger King founded in Miami in 1954 had opened 45 franchises by 1961 through out Florida and the Southeast, and in the mid 70's as Biff Burger was falling apart, it would be Burger King that would buy up many Biff Burger locations and make them into Burger Kings. And to this day they still "charbroil" their burgers. And such was the end of the national chain that was known as the "Best In Fast Food. Today only one Biff Burger remains in operation under its

original name and sports its original Port-A-Unit building and road side sign complete with lighted satellite ball. Our Biff Burger located on 49th street was opened in 1958 by a man named Brubaker it was the 3rd Biffs "franchise" store to be built. It was bought by the second owner in 1975 as the Biff Burger chain was falling apart. It was at this same time that the drive thru and the extra buildings to the south of the Port-A-Unit were constructed. This is where George and Sandy Musser come in. The year was 1982 and George was looking to buy a bar/nightclub on the beach. With nothing available, the realtor showed him Biffs and he bought it. When they opened in 1982 a regular Biff cost 59 cents today its only 99 cents and is still roto-broiled and dipped in the original secret sauce and served through its original walk up service counter window. George and Sandy's son Troy would ease into the business after high school and collage and become a big part of Biff's future. In 1983 they even tried using servers on roller skates and poodle skirts but they quickly outgrew the limitations of this. The layout of the original building and the roadside sign remain almost frozen in time but what has changed over the years is what the Musser family started giving back to the community that patronized them. In 1993 they started a benefit car show then bike show and it would become one of the largest Toys for Tots fund raisers in the United States often occupying the number one spot. Then with the recent switch done last year to help more local families and in conjunction with local firefighters and Publix they called the new event "Toys for Pinellas Kids" it resulted in 286 complete family sized meals and presents for over 200 families who supplied them with "wish" lists. With that success they are doing a Thanksgiving version of it and in its second year 66 family dinners were delivered. They have set up "Biker Down" funds, helped out with every form of charity poker runs and have cash nights, 50/50's and the best good old car and bike nights in town. The entire "Biff "family" through the years have given away so much to so many that they truly define "compassion" which in its strict meaning is as follows. Compassion" the definition: Sympathetic consciousness of others distress together with a desire to alleviate it. Charity and compassion have many levels and take on so many forms. It has been demonstrated for thousands of years but my next story of its use is a little known story that I think is worth telling for many reasons. Here’s a tale of two World War II Planes. One was a B-17G- Boeing Flying Fortress called "Ye Olde Pub" of the 379th bomber group at Kimbolton, England piloted by Lt. Charles L. "Charlie" Brown on his first full command. The other a Messerschmitt ME 109 called "Eva" piloted by German War Ace Oberleutnant Franz Stigler. It was a few days before Christmas in a time long ago, a time we should never forget and a time we should not let the next generation forget for there once was a time where chivalry and honor overcame the horrors of daily war something our recent enemies in the world today do not adhere to.

The date was Dec. 20th, 1943 and it shows the compassion and chivalry that played in our wars of long ago, the fact that even in the worst of times men often made momentous decisions. It was the "Ye Olde Pubs" first bombing mission with pilotcommander Brown at the controls. The target was a German aircraft plant deep in Bremen ironically it produced Focke Wulf 190's. The B-17 was pounded by ground fire and flak by both 33mm and 88mm cannon. Then attacked by 15 or more German ME 109's and Focke Wulf 190's. The bomber on his wing went down in fiery pieces. Mean while "Ye Olde Pub" had one engine gone, another on its way out and one being feathered to keep from over speeding. The four engine plane was in trouble and deep behind enemy lines. She was now separated and struggling far from the main formation going home to England. The tail gunner and turret gunner dead and many of the crew injured. Lt. Brown was hit and when a few German rounds took out the oxygen system, the pilots and crew lost consciousness and the struggling B-17 fell 25,000 feet. She recovered only a thousand feet above land and certain doom. With major damage to her fuselage and huge holes in her wings, a horizontal stabilizer blown off and most of her rudder missing it was truly amazing the old gal was still in the air. But with so many gravely injured, bailing out or ditching was not a thought in our brave pilot's mind. England was several hundred miles away and they would try and make it over the North Sea and to her safe shores. It’s very clear that luck was not on his side yet as he would fly the battered old bird directly over a German Luftwaffe base. That’s where the German ace Franz Stigler was ordered into the air to shoot down the smoking, struggling, lone B-17 of Lt. Browns. As Oberleutenent Stigler climbed, it took time to catch up to the bomber. He didn't want to close too quickly and be shot down by the tail gunner. Lining up to finish the battered plane he noticed the tail gunner never moved his guns As he closed to within 20 feet, he saw he was dead and as he pulled up to the side of the bomber he did not believe what his war hardened eyes saw. In his own words he "had never seen a plane in such a bad state". Despite having full loads of ammunition and fuel aboard his ME 109 he flew to the side and above the stricken bomber and watched Lt. Brown struggling to keep the plane aloft and control the damaged plane. He could also see through the large holes in the fuselage the wounded crew trying to save each other. He would not have been able to miss the 22 bomb symbols and 6 swastikas painted on "Ye Olde Pub's" fuselage representing thousands of tons of bombs that

had rained down on his homeland and of the fighters that the B-17 had downed. Lt. Brown's compass and instruments damaged due to the nose of the plane being gone, and none of his 11 guns operational due to turret damage, being jammed or lack of able body crew to man them they were in fact defenseless. Lt. "Charlie" Brown must have thought this was the final moments of a very bad luck day and was expecting the end of the valiant crew and his beloved plane at any moment. Stigler would try and motion the plane to land "for her own safety" as he later put it for he was sure she wasn't going to make the trip home in that shape but Charlie Brown would have none of that. Brown was in wonderment as was his co-pilot as the German ME-109 stuck with him to the North Sea. It must have been hard for the "Pub" crew to ignore the aces numerous "kills" painted on the Messerschmitts rudder (Stigler would stop this practice of painting his total on his planes after letting the "Pub" go). After a few minutes over the open ocean Oberleutenant and German war ace Franz Stigler would salute the gallant crew of "Ye Olde Pub" roll over and fly back to his base and the mainland. The battered bomber did make it the 250 miles across the North Sea and landed at seething the home of the 448th.

Bomb group in England. The crew was de-briefed and their story and encounter with the ME-109 was classified as secret. It wouldn't do the war effort any good for the American public to think there were compassionate Germans or to discourage other Germans from repeating this act of honor. Lt. Brown went on to finish his required 25 mission combat tour aboard the "Carol Dawn" with 29 total flown missions. Lt Brown would go on to finish college and serve in the office of special investigations with the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Meanwhile, our German ace returned to his air field and told his commanding officer that the B-17 had been shot down over sea. For if it was found out he hadn't downed the plane he would have faced execution for such an act. Our ace ended the war with 500 combat missions and he would be shot down a total of 17 times and wounded 4 times often by the B-17's he hunted for being shot down was no disgrace it meant you were aggressive, had the guts to get in close and make your shots count. In the final days of the war Franz would be one of the few pilots to fly the first operational jet fighter ever built, the ME 262 .The Germans didn't have a mission quota the Luftwaffe pilot had to fly and fight till they were dead or to injured to fly or till the war ended Franz never talked about the event, not even after the war or at reunions. There were two compelling reasons that December day in 1943 why Franz Stigler should have downed the "Ye Olde Pub". One was to avenge his pilot brother’s death "August" by the Allies at the Battle of Britain and the fact that earlier that day he had two confirmed "downs" of four engine bombers and a third that day would have given him an automatic Knights Cross. Franz would be given Luftwaffe ace status with 28 "downs" ,11 four engine bombers and 30 more probable. It is said in ariel combat pilots shoot at aircraft not at men, but on that day in December the men could not be ignored. Franz immigrated to Canada in 1953 and would become a successful businessman. Lt Col. Charles Brown would retire to Miami. But Charlie had not ever been able to shake the thoughts of his encounter with the ME-109. In 1986 he began a search for this German pilot that showed such compassion. It would be 1990 when Franz Stigler responded to an ad in a newsletter for former Luftwaffe fighter pilots. By comparing times,

place and plane markings it was an undeniable fact Stigler’s ME-109 was the one with "Ye Olde Pub" that day in December. In his first letter to Brown, Stigler had written "All those years I wondered what happened to the B-17, did she make it or not?” The remaining members of the "Pubs" crew and family would meet at a reunion of the 379th Bomber Group where Franz was asked by a few reporters two questions. Why didn't he shoot them down? Stigler said to the gathered crowd "I didn't have the heart to finish those brave men. I flew beside them for a long time. They were trying desperately to get home and I was going to let them do that. I could not have shot at them. It would have been like shooting at a man in a parachute. "Brown and Stigler would become great friends. Both would pass away in 2008. Oh and that second question they asked? It was "Why did you stay with us for so long?” The Ace answered "Because I didn't want anyone else to get them" I like to think we as motor cyclists have the same code of compassion, the same mind set; no we don't have to apply it in the horrors of war as the troops of World War II did and I am positive our troops of today try to do. But how do you be compassionate and honorable when you can't even tell who’s the enemy? When friendly and combatants all look and dress the same, but I guess that started in a war long ago in a land called Viet Nam. No, the motorcyclist of today is honorable and compassionate. I have seen bikers give their hard earned and sometimes last dollars to fallen heroes and sick children and to other bikers they don't even know. And I have seen people like Troy and George and all the employees and patrons of Biff Burgers give so many hours and days of their precious life trying to do what’s right, to give others a chance. It's compassion at its finest like what Franz Stigler did a week before Christmas in the skies over Europe a man who turned a very unlucky journey for a doomed American bomber crew into a joyous celebration of life. Let's all get a little more compassion, let that guy over with his turn signal on, give that pedestrian a break trying to get across that busy road. And when you have a chance to make someone's life easier or give yours a higher calling and it’s just the right thing to do, well just DO IT! I promise you my friends you will feel better....................... Just ask Troy and George.

I have been doing a lot of thinking of this going green thing. I do not know what your thoughts are but here are some of mine. Start off with the price of gas - they talk about electric car and how fuel efficient they are - do you have any idea what it costs to replace the batteries plus the other maintenance? What about the nuclear powerhouse in Japan that might be killing people. Is that really saving lives? People are losing their lives - is it really green! Solar energy for your home - do you have any idea how much it costs to set one up. The roof space, solar panels, batteries etc. Maybe the price of gas isn't so bad when you think about it. Maybe we just need to drive less and conserve. How about all of these people without jobs? We insist on importing everything because it is cheaper. Is it really cheaper when we have no jobs or any money to buy it with when you spent all of your money overseas?! We don't manufacture anything anymore and how many small businesses are gone because of our decision to buy cheap. We thought we were saving money by buying cheap? Sam Walton would probably turn over in his grave or maybe he planned it this way.

I remember when there was pride is buying American. The only places that I used to be able to buy American is at the small businesses and flea markets - now most of that is Chinese made stuff. I try to buy American from small business people to keep them in business but they are few and far inbetween. I feel like I am at the mercy of Wal Mart these days. I pick up clothes and put them back down and buy them at yard sales. I do buy castrol oil and some other things there but it is very difficult to buy American. I remember years ago when a friend bought a Japanese car and I frowned on it - now I have one. As old as I am, after the war all we bought was American and British. Things have changed and time changes things... I am really tired of hearing go green - why don't we go red white and blue. See you soon Donna...

Welcome to my back yard. A place where I can throw a bone out to great events or bark about things that get under my collar. This month I would like to throw a big bone out the Poker Run In Honor Of The Fallen. It was held on March 12th on the same weekend of Daytona Bike week, but I came back to St Petersburg to be at this great event. It was a great day for this event to start at Jim Harley-Davidson. Bikers were lined up and ready to hit the road. Stops were made at Screwie Louie's, The DogHouse, and Gator Saloon. The ride then made it's way to The Value Fair Market in South St. Petersburg. There was approximately 200 bikes at the event and we were honored to have the only two motorcycle Police Officers from the City of St. Petersburg in attendance. The Rebel Pride Band preformed for the crowd and there was a great ride in bike show. Many different businesses donated cash and prizes and lots of great vendors were on hand. St Petersburg law officers were at both Jim's Harley-Davidson and The Value Fair Market selling Tee Shirts. All proceeds from those sales went to the families of the 3 Officers we lost. Also, all money raised from this event, as well as other fund raisers all the stops was holding, will also be donated. Many of the vendors auctioned off items and then donated the money right to the Fallen Officers Fund.

A Texas Trooper was patrolling late at night off the main highway. He sees a couple in a car, with the interior light on. He approaches the car to get a closer look and sees a young man behind the wheel, reading a computer magazine. He also notices a young woman in the rear seat, filing her fingernails. Puzzled by this situation, he gently raps on the driver’s side window. The young man lowers his window and mutters, “Uh, yes, Officer”? The trooper asks: ‘What are you doing’? The young man says: ‘Well sir, I’m reading a magazine’. Pointing towards the young woman in the back seat, the trooper says: ‘And her in the back, what is she doing’? The young man shrugs: ‘Sir, I believe she’s filing her fingernails’. Now the trooper is totally confused. A young couple, alone in a car at night, in lover’s lane and nothing is happening! The trooper asks: ‘What’s your age, young man’? The young man says: ‘I’m 22, sir’. The trooper asks: ‘And her ... what’s her age’? The young man looks at his watch and replies: ‘She’ll be 18 in 11 minutes!’

Two priests died at the same time and met Saint Peter at the Pearly Gates. St. Peter said, “I’d like to get you guys in now, but our computer’s down. You will have to go back to earth for about a week, but you can’t go back as priests. What’ll it be?” The first priest says, “I’ve always wanted to be an eagle, soaring above the Rocky Mountains.” “So be it,” says St. Peter, and off flies the first priest. The second priest mulls this over for a moment and asks, “Will any of this week ‘count’ St. Peter?” “No, the computers are down so we can’t keep a record. The second priest says, “Then I want to be a stud.” St. Peter grants his wish and off he goes. A week goes by when St. Peter has all the ROCK & ROLL CLASSICS FOR computers back working and the Lord says it’s SENIORS time to recall the priest back to heaven. “Okay, the first priest will easy to locate as Elvis – “That’s When Your Heartburn Begins” he is flying over the Rcokie in Colorado with Procol Harum – “A Whiter Shade Of Hair” the eagles.” Herman’s Hermits – “Mrs. Brown You’ve Got A The Lord asks, “What about the second Lovely Walker” priest?” Lionel Ritchie – “Once, Twice, Three Times The St. Peter looks at him and says, “Well that Bathroom” will be more difficult because he’s a stud on a Beatles – With A Little Help From My Desnow tire somewhere in Montana.” pends” ********************************************* James Brown – “Papa’s Got A Brand New Denture” EASTER CHUCKLES…………… Bobby Darin – “Splish Splash, I’m Having A Hot Flash” Good idea – finding Easter eggs on Easter. Bad idea – Finding Easter Eggs on ********************************************* Christmas.

Recently I was in New York City and took notice of a Native American, in full Indian re******************************************* galia standing on the corner at Times Square. Every time a pretty woman would walk by he would raise his right hand in an Indian greetThis is mythical and deep. Truly ing and say “Wanna” beautiful. I watched him for about 10 minutes and got very curious as he would do this same A man asked an American Indian greeting at every pretty female that passed what was his wife’s name. He replied, “She is called Five Horses.” him. Raise his right hand and say, “Wanna”. Finally my curiosity got the best of me, The man said, “That’s an unusual so I went over to the Indian and said, “I’ve name for your wife. What does it mean?” been watching you and I am confused. I The Old Indian answered, “It old thought that Indians say, “How”. Indian Name. It mean...NAG, NAG, NAG, The Indian looked at me, rather annoyed NAG, NAG! and said, “Me know how, me trying to find woman who wanna.”

What do Easter Bunny helpers get for making a basket? Two points, like anyone else. Do you know who paints all the Easter Bunny’s eggs? Santa’s elves, the Easter Bunny hires them during the off season. What do Easter bunnies do to stay in shape? They eggsersize!

Florida Stiffer Penalties & Vertical Tags Update March 2011 – As many of you know, ABATE of Florida, Inc.’s Bills, known by many as our ―Stiffer Penalties‖ Bills, have been filed in the Florida House of Representatives (HB403) and the Florida Senate (SB608), and at the time of this writing the Senate version has already made it successfully through its first committee hearing. Our Bills hope to require more severe penalties to at-fault car/truck drivers causing accidents resulting in serious injuries or death of motorcyclists in Florida. Currently, some of these drivers are getting away with only a $166 fine, if any at all. ABATE of Florida, Inc. feels strongly that motorcyclists’ lives are worth much more than that. Next, the issue with vertical tags on motorcycles in Florida has been a problem over the last few years. First, in 2009 the legislature made having a vertical tag hold the same penalties as driving 50 MPH over the speed limit. After conferring with Florida Legislators, it was determined that was not the intent of the new vertical tag language. However, when they made vertical tags legal in Florida last year, the additional requirement of affixing a toll transponder to your bike was added. After all this confusion, we believe that this issue may finally be put to rest this July. ABATE of Florida, Inc. has been able to add an amendment to Senate Bill (SB) 1150, the Dept. of Highway Safety & Motor Vehicles' Bill. This additional language changes the current statute 316.2085(3) to allow a tag that is perpendicular to the ground (with the numbers reading from top to bottom) to be permanently affixed to a motorcycle. It also removes the requirement for a pre-paid toll transponder. The exact language of the proposed language is (underline is new language, strikethrough is deleted language): 316.2085 Riding on motorcycles or mopeds.— (3) The license tag of a motorcycle or moped must be permanently affixed to the vehicle and may not be adjusted or capable of being flipped up, inverted, reversed, or in any other way rendered to make the letters of the tag illegible from the rear while the vehicle is being operated. No device for or method of concealing Concealing or obscuring the legibility of the license tag of a motorcycle is prohibited shall be installed or used. The license tag of a motorcycle or moped may be affixed horizontally or vertically to the ground so that the numbers and letters read from left to right or from top to bottom. Alternatively, a license tag for a motorcycle or moped for which the numbers and letters read from top to bottom may be affixed perpendicularly to the ground, provided that the registered owner of the motorcycle or moped maintains a prepaid toll account in good standing and a transponder associated with the prepaid toll account is affixed to the motorcycle or moped. This new language is not yet in effect; but is expected to become law in July 2011. Dave ―Lockdown‖ Rich State Public Relations Trustee, ABATE of Florida, Inc. LOL????

NETFLIX AND GROWING If you didn’t think that Netflix was a serious player in the television/movie business ... you better think again! The company is negotiating to buy internet streaming rights to a 26-episode drama series starring Kevin Spacey before it is shown on network television. If the deal is completed, Netflix will emerge as a serious threat to pay-TV channels such as HBO and Showtime. Netflix has over 20-million subscribers ... and growing!

VICTORIA TOLD THE RAYS HER SECRET The Tampa Bay Rays will have some very interesting sports apparel on the market this year. Victoria’s Secret stores now carry a line of Rays gear that includes: hoodies, sweat pants, shirts, hats and panties! One message on a t-shirts says, “Meet me in the dugout” and the panties say “Caught Looking” ... I sure love baseball!

MOTHER KNOWS BEST? From the “Mom’s just aren’t what they used to be” department .... a lady from right here in Pinellas County left her eleven year old daughter at a Hess gas station to panhandle while she went to a hotel and turned a trick! Nikki Myers, 38 was arrested on child neglect charges. Witnesses said that Myers regularly leaves the child alone or with strangers while she worked as a hooker. My question is why didn’t one of those witnesses call the police the first time they saw that happening?

WE LOVE DIET COKE Diet Coke has surpassed Pepsi as the second-best-selling soft drink in the USA behind regular Coke for the first time ever. Trade publication “Beverage Digest” stated that Coke sold 1.6-billion cases last year, Diet Coke sold 927-million cases and Pepsi followed with 892-million cases.

When is it ok to tell a joke that deals with a disaster? Is it ok for a bumper sticker to say, “My kid shot your honor student” .... days after the Columbine shootings? Is it right to ask, “When the next Fourth of July show will happen” .... days after the Challenger or Columbia accidents? How long should you wait to name your rock and roll band .... The Dead Kennedy’s? There are numerous comedians that tell “sick” and “off-color” jokes but how long should they wait until these jokes are accepted by the public? Gilbert Gottfried found out that waiting less than a week when telling jokes about the tragedy that happened in Japan is not long enough. The comedian (who is the voice of AFLAC’s famous duck) was fired by the company after posting such jokes on his Twitter page. Not only were they tasteless and disgusting (“I just split up with my girlfriend, but like the Japanese say, There will be another one floating by any minute now”) but 70% of AFLAC’s customers are located in Japan! Gottfried is known for insulting people and offensive jokes but this time the joke is on him!

IS YOUR CAR DEPENDABLE? JD Power & Associates said that Lincoln led their list as the “Most Dependable” automobile for 2011. Lexus finished in second followed by Jaguar, Porsche and Toyota. The study measures problems experienced by original owners of vehicles after three years. Last year Porsche was the winner with Lincoln finishing second. The industry average was 150 problems per 100 autos and that was the lowest since the study began in 1990. I guess General Motors needs to start paying attention to details!

PAY PER VIEW NEWS PAPER The New York Times will start charging readers to view their publication on-line. The paper will get $15 every four weeks for unlimited access from a computer or mobile phone. They will also have other packages available.
