Ok .... this time I really mean it .... I know I’ve said it numerous times before but this time it’s for real .... the cold weather is gone! There it is, finally a true statement! The Winter of 2009-2010 will go down as one of the coldest, wettest, windiest and most unpredictable of all time. It seemed like it would never warm up and it rained almost every weekend. Now that we have made it to April, things should start looking (and feeling) like Sunny Florida again. Here at Full Throttle, we are getting ready for Leesburg Bike Fest that happens at the end of April. If you haven’t been to this great event, do yourself a favor and make the trip. The entire city binds together and turns into a motorcycle mecca with hundreds of vendors, great food and live music. Look for the Full Throttle booth on Main Street ... please stop by and say hello! We invite all of you to join us on April 10th for Tampa Bay Lightning Bike Night at the St.Pete Times Forum. 2-4-1 beers for bikers and free parking for the first 100 bikes at Hot Tuna Bar & Grill. Full Throttle will be there with a tent and there will be motorcycles on display. The end of April (4/30 thru 5/2) marks the 2nd Annual Brothers Powder Coating Motorfest Event in Pasco County. This is one big party that you won’t want to miss. It is emceed by Radical Randy and features bikes shows, car shows, a bikini contest, live bands and more. Call Rev Jim for all the details at 727-504-3138. If you are a local business or a vendor, please contact us for the 2nd Annual Freedom Fest Extravaganza that will take place Memorial Day Weekend, May 28-30 in Oldsmar. Last year we had over 10,000 attend this free event! Live music on two stages by the top bands in Tampa Bay including: Stormbringer, The Dive Bar Stalkers, Rebel Pride, Nation, Diamond Gray and Greg Billings ... to name a few (see the ad inside this issue for a complete band list and show schedule). State Street is blocked off to car traffic and the entire 3/4 mile strip is wet zoned for beer and wine! There is no better way to celebrate Memorial Day Weekend! I want to wish my granddaughter Krysie a Happy Birthday on 4/2 and my father will turn another year younger on 4/18 ... I love you both very much! I also want to wish everybody a very Happy Easter on 4/4. Please drink responsibly and have a great April!
Can you feel it? Spring is in the air! The weather is getting nicer, the bike nights are starting to get more people and the bikes are making their ways out of the garage! This is going to be a great year, I can feel it! Full Throttle has so much going on with great events coming up like our Annual 5 Bridge Run (TBD), The Sore Ass Run (June 12th-13th) and Oldsmar Freedom Fest (May 29th-30th). Rev. Jim, from Preachers Cycle Design, has just promised me MY old bike is completely going to be transformed from it’s it's current appearance. He says it will knock everyone on their butts! I am relinquishing my bike the day after my birthday (May 5th) and he said there will be an unveiling of my new bike at the Oldsmar Freedom Fest! That’s not a long time Jim! Know what you are getting when you purchase your next ad! Full Throttle Magazine has been growing, even in this time of bad weather and the horrible economy. We can be found in almost 200 7-Eleven Locations around the Tampa Bay Area and Volusia County AND IT IS WORKING!!! The magazines are still free and can be found on the white racks near the front door or on the front window area. We also have hundreds of other distribution locations like Harley Dealerships, The Tampa International Airport, bars, restaurants and many other locations. We may be a little more expensive than the other magazines out there, but we offer you a full color FULL GLOSS magazine and we are the largest and longest running magazine in the state of Florida. No messy ink filled hands when you flip through our pages and we have great editorial every month! We focus on YOU the biker and the biker lifestyle. If you have any questions about advertising or an idea you would like to see us do, pick up the phone or e-mail me! I am very easy to talk to, approachable and open to all ideas! I would like to welcome a few new people to the Full Throttle Family like Stephanie Reeves, who will be selling ads and covering the Pinellas and Tampa Bay Area. She is a real go getter and is already doing a great job! Keep it up Steph! I would also like to welcome Uncle Buck up in Lake City. He has moved down here from Ohio and seems to have a passion for the magazine! We met at Bike Week and this will be his first month with the magazine! Good Luck Uncle Buck! I would also like to welcome Tom Dees who I also met at Bike Week! Like I said, we are growing by leaps and bounds so watch out Florida! I would like to wish my oldest daughter Krysie a Happy 11th Birthday on April 2nd, TJ on April 5th and my Grandfather “Pops” a Happy Birthday on April 18th! And let’s not forget….MY BIRTHDAY IS NEXT MONTH! HAHA (May 4th if anyone is wondering) I will be turning the big 30!!!!! Ok everyone, remember, don’t drink and ride and I will see you at Leesburg Bike Fest!

We would like to see more people at the Services for our Fallen Service Personnel. There should be more supporters than protesters. Wow, Bike Week was a blast! Several of the Diva Angels packed up and trekked to Daytona Beach Bike Week. We met up with Diva Terana for the Sisterhood Ride with ROAR Motorcycles which was part of a documentary on CBS Sunday Morning involving women and motorcycles. We checked out the local scene, ate lots of food, listened to many bands and shopped until we dropped. All in all it was a funfilled weekend and we can't wait for Bike Week 2011! Our monthly Diva meetings are always very eventful and informative. In March we had a guest speaker come from Blooming Place for Kids Camp. This organization works with the children's services network to identify neglected, abused and at-risk children and to provide them with an unforgettable summer camping experience. Their camp is set to re-open for the season in July. For more information please go to www.bloomingplaceforkids.org. As most of you know, we set up the Diva tent on the third Bike Night of the month at Quaker Steak and Lube. This month we are asking for donations of backpacks and school supplies for the Blooming Place. Please come out and show your support for this wonderful organization. This year the Diva Angels are celebrating our 5 year anniversary and we have come a long way! We have had many wonderful rides and have helped so many people in need. The list is long but it has been
the most rewarding experiences of our lives and we will continue our mission for years to come. In May, we will host the Diva Angel National Conference. During the months of March and April we are selling raffle tickets for cash prizes. The winning ticket will be chosen at our conference and you will be notified if you are the winner. The proceeds of our tickets sales will be divided between our chapters to go to the charities of our choice. Please come see us on any bike night at Quaker Steak and Lube for your ticket purchase. Look for us in our Diva vests, we’re not hard to find! The Diva Angels Tampa Bay Chapter is growing by leaps and bounds. We have three new members already and our membership continues to grow as we are the largest chapter in Florida. If you are interested in joining, the Tampa Bay Chapter meets the 2nd Tuesday of every month at 6:30 at Quaker Steak and Lube. For more information about the Tampa Bay Diva Angels and our calendar of events, please go www.tampadivaangels.com. Come ride with us!

PART 1; THE CONFEDERACY.....THE UNION.....AND THE STEAM POWERED MOTORCYCLE.............
I was driving to a local bike shop that I patronize on one of these past sub forty degree days of which there has been far to many. While seeking through the AM band (yes it still exists my friends) looking for the Sunday NASCAR Race, the radio stopped on a Johnny Horton song “Johnny Reb”a cival war themed tune that went top ten in 1959. Mr. Horton who was one of Johnny Cash’s best friends in the late 50’s, died tragically in a car accident at the age of 35 in 1960.He was known as history’s greatest saga singer. This was a form of music and song writing based on historical events. John also sang “Battle of New Orleans” and “Sink the Bismark”. All are worthy of a YouTube visit. Well after getting the fuel line I needed for my KZ650 cafe project I headed home and as I drove I thought, im a saga writer myself. It was there I found my mom and her sister doing some genealogy research online and found a great, great, great uncle had served 4 long years as a Union soldier Company D,51st volunteer Ohio Infantry only to be captured at the battle of Chickamauga on sept. 20 1863 and put in the Confederate Prison in Andersonville. Near the end of the war John DeMoss was being transported on the Steam Paddle-wheeler SULTANA ,when on April 27,1865 3 of her 4 steam boilers exploded on the Mississippi River. She took with her 1800 lives, still to this day, the greatest maritime disaster in US History. But John De Moss was one of the survivors found floating 12 miles down river alive and going home. Steam power had found its use in the Civil War. No longer did the battles rely on wind for the ships or horse and wagon to move goods, the ironclads, the steamships and steam locomotives made this the war of inventions. And interestingly enough a few years later the steam technology learned during the Civil War years would lead to the worlds first motorcycle. Built by Sylvester Roper of Massachusetts in 1867, it was powered by a charcoal fired two cylinder engine with connecting rods direct driving a crank on the rear wheel, it could go 7 miles at a speed up to 40 MPH and according to Mr. Roper “climb any hill and outrun any horse”. During the Civil War Roper worked in the Springfield Armory and is said to have built the first steam powered car during the war although the Stanley brothers were given credit later. In another breakthrough Roper controlled the steam throttle by twisting the bikes straight handle bar, later reinvented by the Indian motorcycle company. He not only invented the motorcycle in 1867 but the first twist grip. It wasn’t until 1894 that Hildebrand and Wolfmuller made the first production motorcycle available for public purchase and powered by a gasoline motor.Steam power was not the future of motorcycling. Ropers original 1867 steam powered motorcycle is on display at the Smithsonian Institute. And then I read of the great battles of Gettysburg, Chickamauga, and Bull Run and of the stories of the many people who travel to these fields of honor and stand there where so many fell. Brother against brother so they say.And of the emotions that come to them as they see the battles unfold in their mind.Well I awoke the next day to 60 degrees and sun! way to nice to work on the cafe project, so I got on my old Moto Guzzi. I thought Fort
De Sotos right in my backyard, this would be a nice ride and I could do some research on its role in history. Fort De Soto was built between 1896 and 1906 and never saw action in the defense of Florida. The island was however occupied by Colonel Robert E. Lee in 1849 who later in 1861 would turn down President Abraham Lincolns request to take command of the entire union army,Lee as we all know went on to take command of the confederate forces. As I sat on my bike thinking of General Lees visit here an interesting gentleman who introduced himself as “Red” came up to talk to me about my 70 year old motorcycle. After 20 or 30 minutes of telling him of my bikes history and “Red” telling me of his Honda GL1100, he told me he was a Civil War buff and amateur historian. I told Red of my recent run-ins with the Civil War and informed him of my plan to investigate how the Bay Area was involved and visit these spots on my motorcycle. Red told me the island Fort De Soto sits on, Mullet Key and Egmont Key were controlled by the Union during the Civil War, while the City of Tampa and most of Florida was confederate. Tampa was used as a major port for confederate blockade runners.Guns, cigars and food came into Tampa to aid the confederacy and cotton was shipped out to pay for Dixies War effort and needs.Well with the fort closing and Red long gone I rode off on my old almost steam powered Guzzi, I could almost see the blockade runners slipping by the Union in the fading sunlight ,fresh from their run to Havana, full of ammo, guns and cigars and the hopes of a confederate victory that would never be. Well, a few dozen more cold days and no UPS deliveries of cables, filters or needle jets to continue my KZ cafe build meant that I could do some thinking of the past events and recent Civil War interactions and do some actual research. Had any actual Civil War battles been fought in this area and could I retrace them on a vintage motorcycle? The answer was yes, as I found out that indeed an actual Civil War battle had been fought right here in Tampa, and it had to do with the confederate blockade runners that Red had spoke of that day in Fort De Soto. A battle that includes all the elements of a real war.Forts, Naval Ships, troop movements and yes, casualties and prisoners for which the civil war would become too well known for. I now have my plan in place and with a little help from the Tampa Historical Society, the world wide internet and some warmer weather I will take my 1946 Moto Guzzi time machine and retrace history and the only civil war battle to take place here. As St. Patricks day nears , my thoughts turn to a notorious steam powered confederate blockade runner the Scottish Chief and of her date with Civil War history, here in Tampa on Oct. 18, 1863. Robert “Havana Daydreamin” De Moss

Well they say good things happen to good people. And that was true Sat. March 20th. for Biff burgers 13th Anniversary Bike Show of the Year. Mother nature finally smiled on Troy, George and the entire staff of Biffs and our motorcycle community and it showed. Thousands of people, bikes and cars came from near and far to hear great music and watch events like the Burn Out Pit, Plank Race and Tattoo contest. 76 bikes competed in the bike show for some great trophies and all for a great cause. Troy announced that a record number of free dinners were given away at 1700 or almost 1000 pounds of pork! The event raised over $2500 that went to the Susan G. Komen 3 day breast cancer charity. This was Troy and George's way of saying thanks to the biking community for 13 great years of bike nights on both Wednesday and Saturday nights. Its been a long cold winter so come and hang out with some good people at Biffs....... Mr. 444

Hi All, I just sat down and got the week of things to do done. If you didn’t go to Daytona for Bike Week let me tell you, the weather was cool and wet. At times you needed more clothing on and it was not good to be cold. It sucked big time! I met a vendor from Ballston Spa, New York. Dick Briggs. Dick's featured product is the Rocker Boards™ patent pending, braking and shifting conversion kit. This easy-to-install revolutionary system eliminates foot levers and numerous wearing parts, making riding more efficient and much more comfortable. All riders who have installed the Rocker Boards™ on their bikes swear it is the best thing to happen to a Harley. His dedication to create efficient and great looking bikes resulted in a series of fantastic bike parts that could be marketed to the entire riding community. This was the inspiration for Briggs Made Cycle Parts, Inc. or on the web www.BriggsMade.com . If you are looking for something to do I have an event on April 10. It's a Memorial Poker Run for Herb Evans a friend of mine. It starts at Hennessey's in Olsdmar at Noon. Call 727-687-1723 for the details. Till next month, DEW
My girls and I went to St. Pete Powersports to check out the Victory Demo Days and "Eggstravaganza" held on March 13th. The girls got to go find Easter eggs that were hidden all over the place and got some great prizes! Thanks Randy, Donny, Amy, Evi and everyone else that made this such a great event! Below is a picture of some new Victory owners who bought bikes there that day, congrats! TONY C

I think everyone knows one of my favorite things is a swap meet and out doors type bike events. I’ve had several phone calls this month and talked to one person face to face about something that happened during Bike Week at a swap meet, I was not there but I believe them. They said when they paid at the gate you were giving a free flyer or ticket for a booth where you could win money. Several people felt like they were ripped off as it was a con game but like they say "Let the sucker beware." They sound like the same outfit that came to the Webster Swap Meet but got run off, right fast! We don’t like people like that. I give out flyers for a swap meet at Daytona Bike Week and Biketoberfest and you can be sure they aren’t at this one. It reminds me of what
they call a "old school rodeo". I went but it did not seem like old school time as I am 75 years old. I guess if you were not around back then you would not know the difference. I was not impressed maybe I am just old and grouchy. I know things change, some for the better. I know the girls get better looking!! See you soon Candy

On March 20th I was at Two Buks for Don Campagna's Memorial Poker Run. It turned out to be a great day for a run. There were a lot of bikes that showed up. Even with all the other events going on it still was a great turn out. Probable Cause did a great job putting the event together. I want to thank all the bands that came out and played for the day and Johnny for the sound. A special thanks to the sponsors, Full Throttle Magazine, Preacher Cycle Promotions for the trophies and Done Rite Roofing for the TV and tool set. See ya out there somewhere! Phil Wildman Serletic
Saturday March 20 was a busy day with motorcycle events happening all around Tampa Bay. My evening ended at the St.Pete Times Forum with the Tampa Bay Lightning. Before the Bolts game against the Washington Capitals, the Full Throttle tent was set up by the Lightning Bolt on the concourse and I was joined by Richard (from the law firm of Della Costa & Neville) and motorcycle builders Will Robertson and Steve Galvin who’s bikes stopped people in their tracks! We will be having another Tampa Bay Lightning Bike Night on April 10 and we hope you join us. Look on page 33 inside this issue for complete details ... see you at the game! By Tony C
“Nerves Of Steel” By Night Train photos by www.solarephoto.com Went for a test drive recently with the intentions to purchase a car. I was test driving a high performance car and to make conversation I commented to the sales rep how I had just spent the day at the AHDRA Drag races in Orlando Speedworld. The sales guy proceeded without knowing my involvement in the bike community and commented on how there was next to no skills involved in racing a straight line for a quarter mile and how boring it was and bla bla … then he boasted about how fast he could go on his “rice burner” and blab la bla. I tuned him out. You have to be there to understand how these men and women have nerves of steel! You can feel the engines’ roar right in the pit of your soul and the beautiful smell of burnt nitrous reminds you of the sweet smell of gun powder.
Seeing these “rockets” wobbling off to reach speeds of 210mph in the 6 seconds is freaking exhilarating!!!! Folks, check out www.ahdra.com. Be sure to see their schedule and GO to their next event. It is a great family time and Lord willing I will see you there next time. Night Train To reach Night Train: floridanighttrain@verizon.net

1 - What would you do if you had a time machine and where would you go? A time machine would be great for fixing past problems, but for me I would have loved to been born earlier in life, maybe the 40's so I could have enjoyed the 60's and 70's. That was the life. 2 - Do you install toilet paper so that you pull from the top or the bottom of the roll? Install? What's that? It stays on the counter top next to John Crapper. My wife would love it if I would replace it once in a while, too much work. LOL 3 - If you were an animal, what would you be? Well, in the eyes of some people I know a Jack Ass would come to mind. But a Eagle would be awesome. 4 – What was your favorite cartoon growing up and why? All Looney Tunes, like the people I hang with now! 5 – Are you a Dog or a Cat Person? Oh, dog person only, NO cats. We have German Shepards. 6 – Which super power would you like to have and why? To be invisible so you can be in places that no one knows you're there. 7 – If you could ride a motorcycle anywhere in the world, where would it be and why? I would love to take a year off and ride every state that I could, just because. 8 – What is your favorite motorcycle rally/event? All rallies are fun as long as they enjoy having us there, this is a hard question being that we work at alot of them and hardly ever get away from the stage to enjoy, but we do favor the smaller two day events more. 9 – What are you afraid of? Rats, Snakes, and my ex-wife! 10 – Where do you see yourself in 5 years? In 10 years? In 5, hopefully in good health and doing what I am doin now. In 10, enjoying a beer with my Wendy-Bob on a great vacation celebrating retirement. NOT LOL

Eddie Trotta is such a heritage for the motorcycle industry worldwide. He was there building bikes long before many of today’s most reputable bike builders. A good celebrity builder friend of mine once told me that Eddie has a fascinating story. In doing background research on Eddie I soon realized my friend was right. This man has lived and continues to live the high life but it has not been without hardships.
It is almost like a tourist attraction and people from all over the world like to come in for a visit. The show room is like a palace of just that; “Heavy Metal Art”! I arrived at Thunder Cycle about two hours before my appointment with Eddie and he was not on site. I parked our Full Throttle Magazine branded truck so that no one could see it. I walked in the store incognito and played completely dumb (easy for me to do). Ian who at the time was on the floor as a sales rep ended-up being my unsuspecting victim. I asked questions such as “Where is the clutch? Is this a soft-tail or a hard-tail? Is it available with diesel engines? Can I ride off road? Etc…” Poor Ian answered all my questions patiently and pleasantly without any signs of him patronizing me in any way shape or form. Personally I think Ian could teach a thing or two to a large number of dealers out there. You should’ve seen Ian’s face when two hours later I pulled in front of the store this time inside the truck and proudly wearing my Full Throttle Magazine colors! Everyone in the store was laughing including Eddie and Ian. I spent the entire afternoon grilling Eddie as if he was taking the stand in court and then we went for a joy

If you ask Eddie, he will tell you he has nine lives and chuckles about it, especially being a three times cancer survivor. Eddie is owner and founder of Thunder Cycle Design (www.thundercycle.com). Every single major part of every custom Eddie Trotta motorcycle is made and fabricated in the shop. Eddie’s bikes will range in price between $30,000-$150,000 plus. He built a bike for Steven Tyler of Aerosmith. Back in the day, the New York Mets slugger Bobby Bonilla bought a bike from Eddie and later returned with the entire team to make purchases. Eddie’s custom choppers have been showcased in the Discovery Channel’s Biker Build-Off series and The Hard Rock Custom Bikes Tour. A book entitled “Choppers: Heavy Metal Art” lists Eddie in its legends section alongside such motorcycle world stars as Indian Larry and many others.

Eddy studied virtuoso piano at the Berklee College of Music. He supports the Boys and Girls Club of Broward County in Florida. He served on the board of the V. Twin Bikers Ball. He won several aquatic offshore racing world championships including the prestigious Bacardi cup. Eddie also won over 100 races in the Thoroughbreds for several years. In 2001 through 2003 he was one of only 4 Camel Roadhouse builders; Eddie joined the Hard Rock Roadhouse in 2004; and he was the V. Twin Magazine Bike Builder of the year which is one of the top honors in the custom bike world. Thunder Cycle is a $2 million, 30,000 sqft. Wrench heaven located on 550 W. ride together. I still vividly remember a middle aged suit looking at us as we filled the bikes up with liquid gold. The man had the look of an excited little boy in awe of the bikes he was looking at. “Say? Who built your bikes?” The man asked Eddie completely oblivious of who he was speaking with. “I did.” Replied Eddie with a grin of pride as he rode off with me for the rest of the day. There is not a single person who could hear us coming that did not look with amazement or even stopped whatever it is they were doing in order to give us the thumbs-up! It was a thrill to ride with one of the most respected builder in the world. If I had to make a “bucket list”, one of the top items

Full Throttle 59 would be to go on a ride again with Eddie next to me and every builder I profiled so far including Billy Lane, Jesse James, Mondo, Paul Cox, Chickie, Bill Davidson, Arlen Ness, Paul Teutul … When I first sat down with Eddie in private he looked at me and boldly declared with pride “I lived my life fully so far and I don’t have a single regret.” What followed was a 3 to 4 hour conversation with grueling questions which I think Eddie did not really anticipate but received and answered like an honest gentleman. Eddie was born in New Haven, CN. His father was in the Navy then became a barber, and was very strict. His mother was at home and tried to raise Eddie based on Catholic values. Eddie started playing piano at age 4. His favorite author is Beethoven. Eddie started to ride at age 12 by stealing his brother’s (Arthur) bike. While chuckling at the thought, he proudly says he did that on a daily basis and never got caught. Eddie learned to wrench back then with an older biker, the old-school fashion. He became so enthralled with bikes that his days in high school were spent drawing bikes.
Tom Tobin • www.dreamweaverphotography.com
One of Eddie’s favorite rides is the one to Sturgis. He recalled a funny ride alongside Jesse James, Bill Dodge and Bento. The weather was really bad. He ended up being covered in so much mud that the restaurant they had decided to go to would not even let him in.
Eddie loves feeling the wind in his face. When he rides, Eddie describes his experience as “a cleansing of the soul”. When he grew up he found an old album of bikers’ songs from the 70s by a band called “Smoke”. Those songs, Eddie said, were the expression of all his emotions back then. Sometimes while riding, Eddie will sing those old songs out loud to himself or even just yell. “I’m a weirdo…” One of the most influential people in Eddie’s life is his father who passed in 2005. It is not without emotions that Eddie said “Dad had a sixth sense to read people. If he told me to stay away from somebody for whatever reason, he would always hit it on the head.” NT: What’s the most important value in your life Eddie? ET: “Your word. Do what you say you will do.” NT: Eddie, keeping in mind no one is perfect, what is your success ratio in that area? ET: “Pretty good” (chuckle and laughter) “okay maybe in the 90 percentile” (more chuckles and laughter) “okay okay I’m talking a load of $#!+ here so you might as well bring it down to the 85 percentile” (roaring laughter) “alright alright come to think of it bring it down to 50-50”, then as we were both literally laughing out loud Eddie finishes by saying “I’m so full of $#!+”.
Tom Tobin • www.dreamweaverphotography.com This is when in good spirit I hit him with the following question; Eddie it is good to be able to laugh at ourselves but seriously, do you sometimes think you’re full of it? “Yes, sometimes. I can’t take myself too seriously. I just want to have a good time and have people around me have a good time as well.” Eddie showed me the orders book and right now Thunder Cycle is back-ordered which is a good problem to have especially these days. Pretty much everything Eddie has is paid off so the objective is to put the business on cruise control, keeping a good personal health, and building custom bikes. The custom bike industry is quite different than it used to be. There are so many “wannabe custom bike builders” that have come up through the last decade building poor quality vehicles and selling them at outrageous prices. Eddie’s take on that is that many have been burnt and lost confidence in the builder community but with time people will find out who the true genuine quality builders are. As an artist, Eddie believes that “good” or “evil” can be derived from art. “The love, pride and passion someone puts in their work will result in good. However, some lyrics we can hear in the music of today clearly cannot result in good no matter how much love, pride and passion has been put in the so-called art”. To my surprise, Eddie even admitted that some of his artwork can result in evil. According to Eddie the evil in his art is found in the mocking personified skulls theme across the board. Artists usually tend to express their emotions and feelings through their art and I find it interesting to hear Eddie speak in this fashion about his art. Personally I do not think Eddie is evil because of that. I think he is a smart businessman who has a knack for effective marketing strategies and his art is utilized to maximize the mass appeal to the biker
communities. The question then becomes; why is it or what is it that our demographics find so appealing in symbols of death and destruction? In his own words, Eddie “likes to think” there is a spiritual side to him. For example when he was sick with cancer he says he did a lot of praying to God, but when I asked him who he thought God is he responded “I wish I knew”. Against the backdrop of being raised Catholic, Eddie is still searching for answers. In fact, Eddie is unsure whether there is life after death but certainly has hopes that there is. As previously mentioned, Eddie’s life has not been without action; he crashed a motorcycle going at 100 mph, he flipped a car once during an Easyrider show; he flipped a boat going at 150 mph and broke his neck in the process, and the list goes on. Eddie was never married. The longest he has been in a relationship was 6 to 7 years. “I am happily unmarried” Eddie says with laughter. I decided to dig into that one a little. As it turns out the relationship which appears to have had the most impact on Eddie was his relationship with Jody years ago. As he spoke about her, Eddie’s tone of voice suggested deep embedded cherished memories with a mixture of sadness. “Jody taught me a lot when I was sick. She took care of me for 1 ½ year. I was not a good boyfriend. I did horrible things to her. She hung in there with me taking care of me until I got better. She would sit there and listen to me puke for 5 to 6 hours straight every day for months. I should have married her”. NT: Do you miss her? ET: “Yeah” NT: Do you miss her as a girlfriend? ET: “Yeah, if I could do it over again I would not have cheated on her. I would’ve treated her differently with more respect”.
Tom Tobin • www.dreamweaverphotography.com
NT: What is your definition of marriage? ET: “100% commitment from both parties”. In terms of fatherhood Eddie feels he missed out a lot in life by not being there for Jill (his daughter) who now works for Eddie. “I lead a different kind of life and now I know why some people grow out of the type of lifestyle I have had. I had a pretty wild life”. Interestingly enough Eddie never knew of Jill’s existence until she was 23 years old. Her mother never told Eddie of Jill’s existence and this made him feel betrayed. He never forgave her yet he acknowledges un-forgiveness is not necessarily healthy. Eddie feels the youth of today have so many more chances and opportunities than when he grew up. When we looked at things a little more in-depth however, in terms of how much new debt load the current government is taking on the back of our children and grandchildren, Eddie acknowledged the perceived chances and opportunities were not necessarily as real as some would like us to naïvely believe. Eddie feels mandatory military service would be great. If he had to do it again he would serve. “It teaches maturity, discipline and respect. It helps you to grow up. A lot of youth out there could use it.” Eddie likes gun control … “when the gun is loaded”. NT: Assisted suicide? ET: “They already have it. It’s called hospices” NT: Suicide? ET: “I have no respect for anybody that would do this. I never thought of it for myself”. NT: Death penalty? ET:“For it”. NT: What is the purpose of a man’s existence? ET: “To build a perfect motorcycle. There are motorcycle builders, I am a motorcycle lover. I want to die on a bike.”
Comment on the following: “The Me first mindset has led our society to the verge of internal collapse. Escapism, perversions, AIDS, unwanted pregnancies, violence, political scandal, and family breakups are all symptoms of our modern day madness and our obsession with Me. Before complaint became a national way of life, it was considered an honor to serve someone”. Bill Hybels – “Descending into Greatness” Eddie: “Dude you lost me on this one. This is kind of deep for me. I’m gonna pass. I was just a music major you know.” (Chuckle) NT: Word of advice for future aspiring industry stakeholders? ET: “Put your patent attorney on speed dial!” NT: If you could change anything about the past what would it be? ET: “I would’ve been a better man for Jody.” At the tail end of our conversation, Eddie and I were exchanging anecdotal stories from our past. Then we got talking about family life while he was showing me some of his very first motorcycle drawings buried in the depth of cupboards in his wall unit. I was flipping-out at the privilege of seeing these with my own eyes. I think I managed to earn Eddie’s trust to a certain degree and I felt as if the dim shining light of a new found friendship was beginning. He proudly showed me pictures of Jody. An elegant tall and beautiful woman with facial features reflecting strength, loyalty, confidence, class and beauty altogether. Then I pulled out my own family pictures and declared “my treasure on earth Eddie”. Anyone who has seen my wife and also knows her will agree with me that the qualities I speak of here above in reference to Jody are only a small fraction of a long list of other qualities she has. Then out of the blue and without any prompting from me as we were exchanging “Wows” looking at each other’s girl, Eddie said under his breath “life in the fast lane caused me to be distracted from things that truly matter in life”. When I met Eddie for this interview he was single. Keeping in touch with each other I found out as it turns out, it seems Jody and he may have rekindled the old flame. Riding side by side I was looking at the scenery and pondering about how awesome of a time that was. I looked at Eddie beside me who appeared in deep thoughts and I said “Eddie! How ‘bout signing a little tune out loud?”. Both laughing we went off to feeling the wind in our faces. Night Train

Have you noticed some people that park in Handicap parking spots? They stick a hanger on the mirror, they get out of the car and not as much as a limp, they walk all over the stores, they golf 18 holes, I saw a woman park and go jogging. Don’t get me wrong, I think Handicap parking is a great idea for those who NEED them, for the rest of you DUMMIES and you know who you are, you should feel ASHAMED that you are so LAZY you can’t walk a few extra feet from the parking lot so someone with a disability has a little easier time of it, It’s a $250.00 fine, where are the cops? Are they too busy giving out seatbelt tickets? Get Real! From M.A.D.D. Sue, Pinellas Park: Bubba, you were wrong. They are making texting against the law! You’re kidding “right” they are making texting a secondary offense, which means
you will have to be pulled over for something else then it would only be a $30.00 fine. You would have to be a real idiot not to shut off your phone if pulled over. But what I’ve seen of kids today I wouldn’t be surprised. “Gee I feel safer already” We have laws on the books right now that state if you are doing anything that appeads the safety of your diving it’s against the law. We should have more common sense to know what’s right or wrong, but we as a society will push the button to see how much we can get away with, you really think there are fewer drunk drivers? NO! They’ve just gotten smarter. So if you drive and talk on the phone believe me M.A.D.D. Sue you’re not better than the drunk driver! Good night Bullwinkle where ever you are. As The Weather Turns With the winter we had this year. I am so glad to see and feel the sun. With the weather change, everybody is back riding. Some of us never stop just because of rain. Hale is another story. First I would like to thank the IRON COFFENS MC for letting me tag along with DJ Patti to their St. Patrick’s Day Bash. As always it was great food, lots of Beer, and fun with DJ Patti. You had to be there to understand and that’s all I’m saying about that. Something New for the area. On April 11th Cotee River Lounge at 7803 Grand Blvd. is having its “1st Annual Cotee River Lounge Chili Cook Off”. I have heard some like it hot. Are we talking about women, oh no, chili, that’s right. My Woman Yes, my chili, no. They will have something for everybody’s taste. Now to let you know about something you just miss. (It took place April 3rd), the Grand Opening of The Port Hole Pub at 5430 Treadway Drive just across
Hwy 19 off Grand Blvd. from the Cotee River Lounge in Port Richey. Or should I say, The Welcome Back The Bikers ReGrand Opening of The Port Hole Pub. Yes, the new owners are bringing back the Biker Friendly Pub. The Tiki Bar out back is now Black & Orange, as I call it. “The V-Twin Bar.” The Grand Opening is a kick off for the “Every Monday Night Bike Night.” West Side Nature Coast Bike Nights have you covered every week night, and with events and benefits on the weekends (so many brothers and sisters have gone down lately) you don’t get to spend much time at home. I like the V-Twin Bar so much. Here’s a picture of it. Wait till you see the seats. Hope to see you there. Always Remember. Ride Safe and Look Out for The Bad Drivers The Big “O”

FINALLY, nice riding weather is here and thank goodness we are so tired of having to lug around so many clothes, it just makes riding so uncomfortable. What a busy last month or so have been. Hopefully there is no one out there saying they have nothing to do on the weekend, if so then you are obviously not reading the cruising section of the magazine. Hope all who ventured over to Daytona for bike week had a fun and safe time. We went over with our friends John and Theresa Roth and had a blast. The weather could have been a little better but we were just happy to get out of town and have some fun, and that we did!
Let’s recap the month. The local ABATE had their pre bike week rally at Snook Haven in Venice. I don’t have the exact count of how many attended but there had to have been several hundred if not a thousand bikes. There were numerous vendors, live music and good food. Saturday March 6th the North Port American Legion had a poker run and benefit for the Children’s Miracle Network. There were games, live music by The Bandana Band, haircuts for donations, raffles and even some dancing. Sunday the 14th we went on the Sarasota Hog’s Chapter Sarasota County Humane Society run. It had a St. Patty’s theme with all the stops at Irish bar and grilles. We made a few new friends on the ride, hello to Mike, Lilly and Dave. We need to get together again soon! The Chapter raised $2285.48 for the animals with 178 people and 134 bikes. It was a great turn out and a beautiful day! March 17th The ANABD Benefit took place at Ace’s bar, in Bradenton. There were several bands playing throughout the day, Good Ole Irish food, drinks, a silent auction, several 50/50 raffles and a membership drive. I haven’t heard the final tally on attendance or funds raised, but it appeared everyone had a great time. Saturday the 20th the Phi Beta Psi put on their 1st annual Cancer Research Poker run. It was an 80 mile ride through the country ending at Woody’s River Roo in Ellenton. There was an awesome turnout, and the group gave away, I would have to guess nearly 100 raffle items, a 50/50 drawing, a week’s stay on Anna Maria Island and a best and worst hand in the poker run. This next month looks just as busy, so make sure to check out the Cruising section and stop into some of our advertisers like Tarzans who has a weekly biker BBQ on Sundays, Panther Cycles in Punta Gorda for service, repair or customization of your bike, DMR Trikes offers the Kiltronic shifter as well as trike conversions so everyone has the ability to ride regardless of age or disability and if you find yourself in need of legal services Carrero Law group out of Port Charlotte would love to talk to you about your needs. Don’t forget to head over to Will’s Honkytonk ENGLEWOOD for their 6th anniversary party on April 11. See their ad in the green section for the details. Until next month be safe and have fun. Tracey and Gary

A couple were celebrating 50 years together. Their three kids, all very successful, agreed to a Sunday dinner in their honor. “Happy Anniversary Mom and Dad,” gushed son number one .... ‘Sorry I’m running late. I had an emergency at the hospital with a patient, you know how it is, and I didn’t have time to get you a gift.” “Not to worry,” said the father. “The important thing is that we’re all together today.” Son number two arrived and announced, “You and Mom look great, Dad. I just flew in from Los Angeles between depositions and didn’t have time to shop for you.” “It’s nothing,” said the father. “We’re glad you were able to come.” Just then the daughter arrived. “Hello and happy anniversary! I’m sorry, but my boss is sending me out of town and I was really busy packing so I didn’t have time to get you anything.” After they had finished dessert, the father said, “There’s something your mother and I have wanted to tell you for a long time. You see, we were very poor. Despite this, we were able to send each of you to college. Throughout the years your mother and I knew that we loved each other very much, but we just never found the time to get married.” The three children gasped and all said, “You mean we’re bastards?” “Yep,” said the father. “And cheap ones too.” ******************************************

don’t label me Two iconic American clothing labels are joining together as Phillips-Van Heusen is purchasing Tommy Hilfiger for about $3-billion in cash and stock. The deals puts the Arrow and Izod lines side-by-side with the Hilfiger and Calvin Klein designs.
Come to your census By now we have all received census papers from the government. I think it’s crazy that I received not one but two postcards telling me the papers were coming ... the census itself ... and then another postcard reminding me to fill out the census that I previously received! Mix this in with hundreds of television and radio commercials and I wonder just how much our government spent (and wasted) on this project? Well .... it will cost an estimated $14-billion to count everyone .... a far higher cost than any census in US history. Want to here more about the census check out my blog at http://ThingsThatPissPaulOff.blogspot.com.
my bologna has a first name Kraft Foods is doing what it can to make sure America eats healthier! The food giant said it will cut the salt in products sold in North America by an average of 10 percent over the next two years. Kraft will reduce the amount of sodium in Oscar Mayer Bologna by 17 percent and Easy Mac (macaroni and cheese dinners) by 20 percent. The company has all ready made sodium reductions in recent years.
in your face-book Facebook is now officially the world’s largest socialnetworking site as it surpassed Google’s search engine in weekly hits. Facebook accounted for 7.07 percent of all website visits sneaking by Google’s 7.03 percent in March. Facebook almost tripled its visits from a year earlier!
water, water everywhere Here comes another tax .... this time on all bottled water sales! The State of Florida Legislature is looking to put a six percent tax on all bottled water. The tax will be used for programs that clean up the discarded plastic bottles and will generate and estimated $42-million per year. The tax would treat bottled water just like soda which is also taxed at six percent.
really!?!?!? Are a few things I thought you’d like to know .... The television program “I Love Lucy”’ reruns were banned for years in some Moslem countries because Lucy “dominated” Ricky .... bowing to pressure from anti-smoking groups, Hasbro Toys Company took away Mr. Potato Head’s pipe back in 1987 .... America’s first nudist organization was founded in 1929 by three men .... most raindrops are round or doughnut shaped, not “raindrop” shaped .... at the very first organized, professional baseball game, the umpire was fined six cents for swearing at players .... nearly 90% of all New York City cabbies are recently arrived immigrants!
It’s A bet! The ongoing battle between the State of Florida and the Seminole Indian Tribe is continuing. The Legislators are fighting with the Tribe over gambling regulations. The Seminoles want to be the only outlet for Vegas-style slot machines and table games (outside of South Florida) and they want to pay the state $450-million for that right. However, many people think that the state’s 19 pari-mutuel facilities including dog and horse tracks and jai alai frontons should also be able to have slots. In the long run they would generate more money for the state. This writer doesn’t think the Seminoles should have that exclusive right and areas such as Tampa, Jacksonville, Orlando and Tallahassee should have the same rights as citizens that live in South Florida.

Hey everyone! Please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Greg Buck, aka “Uncle Buck,” and I’m new to the Full Throttle Magazine family. I will be covering the North Florida area and am looking forward to getting the chance to get to know the Florida biker community better. My wife, Beverly and I, and our two sons, Nate and Josh, recently moved to the Lake City, Florida, area from, as Beverly would say, “The snowy tundra of the north!” which is also known as Ohio. We are glad to be down here where we can get out more often and enjoy spending time out riding with fellow bikers as well as just taking a leisurely cruise around to different places and familiarizing ourselves with the surroundings. There will be some updating going on for the next month or so, as we work to get things caught up in the northern areas with Bike Nights and upcoming rides, so please be patient. I am excited to be included with the Full Throttle happenings and want to hear what you have to say about things happening locally as well as around the state. Send me your ideas, comments or just to chat, but please keep it clean! You can reach me at (386)473-1009cell, or email me at: unclebuck1@ rocketmail.com. Thanks for your time and ride safe, y’all!

When I find a good thing I like to let everyone know about it. You know there are a lot of good shops out there, but there’s a lot more that just don't care if you come back or not. I’ve have not owned an import bike in years, but now I’m riding one and I like it. When I turn the key, it starts and I’m gone. About a year ago, I bought a 250cc scooter from Mega Power Sports, I am glad to tell you, they out of business now, and that is no surprise. They took a lot of people for a lot of cash and my scooter was in their shop more than I rode it. Now with only 3,000 miles on it you would think there would be no problems getting it worked on. Not true …. every shop I went to said it’s not worth repairing.
After a few mouths with no good news, I finally took it to my friends at Daytona Cycle Salvage & Service, 333 Carswell in Holly Hill. I told Paul, Brad and Steve my story. I dropped off the scooter and said, “check it out. If it’s really not worth repairing then I’ll junk it. Let me tell you, that same day they called me and asked me to stop by and see what they found. To my surprize they found that when Mega repaired it, they never put oil in it and had the oil light unhooked. Daytona Cycle Salvage gave me a statement and when I picked up the scooter, the bill was $150 cheaper than their quote! My scooter has never ran better. After this, my bike needed a rear tire. I shopped around and got prices from $130 to $180. I then went to Daytona Cycle and got a new Dunlop for $107 and it was in stock! I just want to thank them for doing a great job and I’ll be back! I hope all our readers will give them a try!
