The Two #1 Rated Bike Nights in Tampa Bay

Here we are in the middle of Summer 2009 and the usual weather is upon us .... afternoon thundershowers and ninety degree temperatures .... you just gotta love summer in Tampa Bay! I kinda laugh when I hear people say it’s too hot to ride because those are the same people that say it’s too cold to ride in January! Oh well, it is what it is and if you get a chance, jump on your scooter and enjoy life! I know I’m getting old when I can remember that 40 years ago this month The Woodstock Music and Arts Festival took place on Max Yasgur’s farm in Bethel, NY. Over a half million people crammed into a 600 acre parcel and the music world was never the same after the weekend of August 15-18, 1969. Bands included: Jimi Hendrix, Santana, The Who, CCR, Sly & the Family Stone, Joe Cocker, The Greatful Dead, CS&N, Johnny Winter, Sha-Na-Na, Blood Sweat & Tears, Jefferson Airplane, Canned Heat and Country Joe & The Fish .... to name a few. There were two deaths and two births but no reports of violent crimes or burglary in any surrounding community. The concert changed music and history! I was overwhelmed with the response we had regarding our last two covers and stories on Jesse James and Billy Lane. We could not keep copies on the shelves and Night Train did a spectacular job with both interviews. These are what make Full Throttle the top motorcycle magazine in the State of Florida and if we can keep getting these types of interviews, I will continue to enjoy the comparisons we are getting to national magazines! Thanks to Fran Haasch for making these covers happen and many thanks to Jesse and Billy for taking the time to do the interviews. Happy Anniversary to Dew and Val and Happy Birthday to Norma Fucito! I hope you all have a great month and please party & drink responsibly!

I sit here thinking about what to write this month in my article and what you readers might want to hear…Let’s see…It’s hot as hell outside or it’s raining. That seems to sum up the riding weather for the past month and the upcoming months. Luckily it is now August which means FOOTBALL is starting right around the corner, GO BUCS! I was at Quaker Steak and Lube when Fran did her Sturgis give-a-way and all I can say is, WHAT A TURN OUT! There were an estimated 3,800 bikes that turned out! Fran Haasch and Rhett pulled the first winner who just happened to be in the crowd, and then they did the unthinkable. They said they had a surprise and pulled a 2nd trip for two to Sturgis and the crowd went wild. The second person was not there but was a local woman who jumped in the car and ran down to the Lube to collect her grand prize! Fran never seems to let the motorcycle community down whether it’s giving away a motorcycle, helping the injured or making people’s dreams come true with trips to Sturgis! Congrats Fran & Rhett for being a wonderful part of our motorcycle community. There is a lot coming up in the next coming months. Not really a ton of events going on in August but they do pick up in September and October for sure! October brings us the Cotee River Bike Fest. We will be printing and designing the program for the Cotee River Bike Fest so if you would like to get an ad in this program that will be seen by thousands of people, make sure you give us a call. For more information and prices check out page 60 in this month's issue. We are always looking for new sales reps in every area in the state of Florida. If you are looking to be part of the motorcycle community and are interested in making a few extra bucks, give us a call. We will set up an appointment for you to come in and we will show you how it is done. Get paid to be a biker! We are a free publication distributed all over the state of Florida. This November we will be celebrating our 13th anniversary. No other motorcycle magazine in the state can say that! Biketoberfest is right around the corner! We will be doing our same promotion that we have done for the past 2 years. We will have booths set up at Boothill Saloon and JP Cycles handing out magazines and our sponsor’s give-a-ways. The cost is only $500 for us to hand whatever promotional items you send us. We will be in the booths all day handing out thousands of magazines to everyone who walks by our booth. This is a great deal as there is an estimated 200,000 bikers every year that flock to Daytona. I hope everyone has a great month and good luck to all the kids that are going back to school at the end of the month. Make sure you pay attention to those school zones. Those are pretty heafty tickets. A few friends of Full Throttle have passed away last month. We would like to send our condolences out to the friends and families of Brad Ruel and Taz, R.I.P. Remember, don’t drink and ride and I’ll see you soon.

TIP OF THE MONTH From Martin D. Weiss and Weiss Research Today's economy verses today’s Reality, are we in a

RE-SESSION or Depression? Investments to protect your ASSets.

#1: Guns ... Per Money and Markets latest issue, it was said it might be a good time to buy gun manufacturer Sturm Ruger (RGR), which ended last week up 34.7 percent from my March 4 mention. Now here's the good part ... recently Ruger went up even more — hitting a 52-week high — then it pulled back and tested support ...Support is holding, and it looks like Ruger could be ready to make an even BIGGER move to the upside. Why? Because guns are flying off the shelves! Sales at Sturm Ruger surged from $144 million in 2007 to $174 million in 2008. On top of that, the company had a $48-million backlog of orders at the end of the year. If you didn't buy Ruger the last time I mentioned it, you might want to consider adding it to your portfolio now. #2: Then There's Gold ... "Gold and the Fear Trade," There was talk about how gold was tracking the U.S. dollar. Both had become refuges for investors worried about the stock market. It's unusual for gold to move with the dollar. And sure enough, that relationship has changed. Now, the dollar may be entering another slump. And gold is at an important inflection point that could send it much higher. Take a look at this weekly chart ... I thought gold's recent downtrend would find support at around $800, maybe as low

as $765. But it doesn't have to go that low, and could break out either way – UP or DOWN – from its recent consolidation. And last week, there was a very interesting development: China announced that it had nearly DOUBLED its gold reserves over the past five years. I gave a more detailed analysis on my blog. But with China, the facts are never the whole story. We have to ask ourselves: "Why is China announcing this move into gold now?" I think China is sending a clear message to the United States that:

rock type and capacity of the mine to maximize throughput and minimize down time. Now, Timmins has the capacity to meet the planned production of 80,000 ounces of gold per year at a projected cash cost of $412 per ounce. The gold plant has also been refurbished, and the earthworks for the new heap leach pads are nearing completion. All infrastructure and permitting is in place. Under the current construction plan, the first gold pour at the mine is scheduled to take place in late 2009.

A. It is sick of the way our government is printing dollars to paper over our banking problems. B. It won't take any guff about how it values its currency. C. Maybe it is seriously looking at buying something other than U.S. Treasuries. China's Treasuries-holdings climbed 52 percent in 2008 and now stand at about $740 billion, according to U.S. government data.

Then, over the weekend, the World Gold Council announced that it would closely monitor developments at other central banks to determine whether they will follow China's move. #3: More Gold ... Finally, in Money and Markets column, "Mexico's Streets of Gold," from December 17, 2008, told you about Timmins Gold, a Canadian-listed miner hard at work developing a gold resource in Mexico. It is suggested that you could wait before picking this stock up — as Timmins needed some time to secure more funding — it was definitely a stock worth watching. Timmins spent the first quarter of this year consolidating between C$.40 and C$.50 cents a share. At the same time, the company has made a lot of progress. The refurbishing of the primary crusher at Timmins' San Francisco Mine has been completed. The new crushers are important because they are designed and calibrated for the

in Memory of a friend “Fitz” Fitzgibbons (1931-2009)

Fitz and Ted

As we get older in life, we seem to lose a lot of friends that we have known along the way. not in my wildest dreams would i think that this good friend of mine would go before me, as Fitz was in a lot better shape than me. But, as life sometimes is, we get fooled so i lost a lifetime friend, for health reasons. i was so very fortunate, on my last visit to newburgh in June, to see Fitz for the very last time. we used to sit down and B.s. about our retiring years, his at Moroney’s and me, working when i felt like it. the dealership Fitz was at would have been nowhere without his guiding hand and he was a young 77 years. i know there are probably a lot of Full throttle readers in Florida who knew this man before they moved here. Fitz, you will be greatly missed by all you touched, and your bride of 58 years, Rachel, will miss you so much more. All i can say is you really had a good winner Rachel. God Bless. in ending i will say you will see some of us real soon, and the others, later for as you know we will all go to the same place. to your memory, Big Al

• Despite privacy concerns, anyone who buys addictive prescription drugs at pain clinics will be reported to a state database designed to crack down on clinics and doctors that distribute painkillers. Florida becomes the 39th state to create such a painpill database, but it could take a while to gear up. The state has to raise millions from private sources to operate the database and the Department of Health has until October 2010 to instruct pain clinics and their doctors on how to report their sales. • Drivers in Florida can now be pulled over for not wearing their seat belts -- and get slapped with tickets that could run more than $100 depending on the county. Until now, drivers could only be cited for not wearing their seat belts if they were pulled over for something else, such as speeding. The state fine for seat-belt violations is $35, but counties can tack on additional fees and court costs. • Parents who lose their jobs -- or can no longer afford health care premiums -- will now have an easier time enrolling their children in KidCare, a federal-state subsidized health care program for children under 18. The waiting period to switch from private insurance to KidCare has been reduced to two months, from six months. And parents who fall behind on the $15 or $20 monthly co-pay for KidCare will have to wait only 30 days to re-enroll, instead of 60 days. The state also cut down administrative barriers to KidCare enrollment. For example, income eligibility now is verified electronically rather than in person. A family of four making $44,000 or less is eligible for KidCare, which currently insures about 1.5 million Florida children. • Changes to popular but expensive Bright Futures scholar-

ships will make the program less lucrative for college students. Now, Bright Futures students will receive a flat scholarship award, from $95 to $126 per credit hour, rather than the traditional scholarship that covered up to 100 percent of tuition costs. The flat rate will not cover this year's 8 to 15 percent tuition hikes at state universities, meaning students will pay potentially thousands more out of pocket for each year in school. • Florida's home phone service is now deregulated, with the Public Service Commission no longer having authority to set rates and service standards. Under the new system, phone companies such as AT&T will be allowed to raise rates with no state oversight on most home phone packages, by up to 10 percent a year. Telecommunications executives, though, point out that competition is driving prices down rather than up. In addition, phone companies will be able to post their rate schedules online rather than with the PSC. The changes also expand the state's Lifeline program, which provides subsidized basic phone service to the poor. A single person making less than $16,245 will now qualify for free or reduced-cost phone service. • Cities and counties are now banned from charging a socalled "crash tax," a concept once considered by Davie and other municipalities. Local governments are now prohibited from charging a first-responder fee for a police officer to respond to the scene of an accident or for ambulance rides. Ride Smart, Be Educated, and Trust No One (Except me), Jerry T.

OF LOST ICONS AND BLUE SMOKE Interesting thing the power of the pen and the media. In this modern day and age, it can create scandal, install presidents and bring celebrity worship to phenomenal levels. But try as it might it cannot change the past, and I am glad of that. The present media circus of the past few weeks got me thinking back to my school years in junior and senior high...... First Colonel Ed Mc Mahon, who by the way was a marine fighter pilot instructor in WWII and Korea with 6 air medals. You know from before I remember to 1992 (which was the year of the last Tonight Show) I thought he and Johnny Carson were brilliant together. I still remember the 1976 poster of Farrah Fawcett (which I still have)the one with the wild hair and red swimsuit, it sold an amazing 12 million copies and then there was the December 1978 Playboy Cover I was 16 Farrah was 29,I knew it could work!. And I think in this era of google images and celebrity of the week cheesecake, she was America’s last great pinup icon, and a cancer spokeswoman in the end. Then Michael Jackson........ the Jackson 5 and thriller Michael not the oddity he became later. In the years 1973-1985 it was tough not to hear his music and the girls really liked it, so we did too! It was good times let me tell you, being a teenager in the 70’s and 80’s meant you knew many of the two stroke bikes and most likely had one, and now those bikes have a cult following and are being ridden, collected and restored. The Internet wasn’t around, big government wasn’t our safety monitor and 100 stations of 24 hour news reports didn’t exist, good thing to, so they couldn’t tell us how dangerous, unsafe and polluting these machines were ! We just knew they were fun and inexpensive, and the media we did have then only wanted to sell us more.............how very cool is that! Two strokes ruled the world, as did our past pinup and pop star icons. They were machines of lightweight and instant power. It was either on or off nothing but wide open throttle most riders said of the two stroke power band. And with no engine braking at downshifts riding at its upper limits was an incredible act of talent, brakes and bravery just ask Kenny Roberts, Barry Sheene, Rodger De Costa or Phil Read. Four strokes of the time were more complex and slow to reach that magical power band, and in racing weight was the loser as it still is now. Today’s big sportbikes can make amazing top speeds but they don’t allow you the option of the rush seeking thrill as their power bands are very much alike but the two strokers allow you this thrill of the high rev. powerband, that wait........ wait.........wait...........Wow, while not going to traffic court for a triple digit speeding ticket! The invention of the two stroke engine was by English engineer Joseph Day in 1889. one stroke equals one cycle so a two stroke motor makes its power using half the cycles of a four stroke. This happens because a two stroke has no valves, the fuel intake, fuel ignition and exhaust emission all occur on each revolution (cycle) of the motor. Four strokes use a camshaft(s) and a set or more of valves to do it. This adds overall weight and complexity to the motor, the two stroke though must burn oil during its ignition phase through pre mix or oil injection which gives it its blue smoke and smell of burning oil. Light weight, simple, great hp to cc ratio versus more reliable better emissions and the two stroke has been dropped from almost every manufacturers lineup for the quiet more fuel efficient and advanced four strokes. Penton, Bultaco, Ossa and Hodaka these companies are long gone, just like some of our icons and their kind and time will never be again, but we still have and ride our vintage two strokers and just like the stars that we lost they are imperfect, not everyone likes them and at times they disappoint you, but what a point in history they all were. The Suzuki Savage, Kawasaki, Bushwacker the “widowmaker” or “water buffalo”. Yes, this was the time of the two strokes, more power per pound, more blue smoke per mile and more fun per dollar than anything on wheels. For those of you that have never ridden a 70’s era two stroke, I’m sorry. For those of you that

don’t like them...........Thank you....... It’s a unique club us vintage two strokers. It’s for the fun, the eccentric, the mentally unstable ! Over the years the clean air act came into being, many trails and woods became off limits due to liability and the four strokes got better, now three decades later there’s a bunch of 40 somethings such as me that remember that period, that simple fun. There are hundreds of two stroke clubs world wide, these bikes now have a cult status, a respect and they still are still dis-liked by many which makes them cool to me. How will history treat today’s bikes? Not well, none stand out, cookie cutter mentality abounds, huge production numbers and a sameness in appearance , sound and engineering and most of the big break throughs came in the past. You know the interesting thing about significant points in history is that everyone wants a piece of it when it is gone. Go check E-bay for Farrah and M.J. memorabilia and while your there go check on the vintage two strokes, try and find the 1970 and befores, history ain’t cheap. And my friends, I don’t think with today’s point and click society and easy downloads, you will ever see 12 million posters or 109 million albums ever sold through walk up stores again, and I don’t expect the come back of the two stroker, but some of us still have them, and still ride them...............and you know what? I’m going out and put my Farrah poster up in the bike barn...........right over my 1970 Suzuki Savage...........they will look right together...........Two “lost” icons of the 70s. Hi All, Well I finally got a new tattoo. Those of you that have them, you know when you get started you just can’t stop. The tattoo artist name is Derek Gallin aka “Big D” or “D”. He moved to Fla in 2001, and has been a full time tattooist since then. He has been an artist since childhood and tattooing came naturally. After winning his first award in 1995, he knew it was right. His work is very clean, bold & has a statement. He loves meeting a customer and getting the idea of what they want and then taking that idea and creating a design work of art just for them. He is experienced in all styles, coloring, black and grey, tribal and loves doing portraits. He lives in Clearwater with his girlfriend and their two daughters. If you want to do something different give him a call for a tattoo party or event or an appointment for your own design. You can call him at 727-422-8360 or e-mail him @ paintherplstman@yahoo.com.

My happy note this month is Happy Anniversary to Queen for 26 years of marriage on August 13 and on a sad note we said Good-Bye to a wonderful guy “Taz” or “D1” on July 9th when he went on to take his last ride to the Pearly Gates and ride with the Lord. Taz you will be missed.

Till next month…….DEW

The new bike night at the Showman’s Club in Gibsonton, FL has something different. The dark haired girl in this month’s story has something to offer other bike nights don’t. She lays on a bed of sharp nails and has a cement block on her stomach then invites someone to break it with a sledgehammer! If that is not enough she may eat a light bulb and other things! They have a pole you may see her dancing on or just hanging out and looking good. She is a real live doll. If you miss it, shame on you! This place is on Riverview Drive, just east of Highway 41, south of Tampa on Tuesday nights. You get free parking if you arrive between 7pm & 8pm. The food is also great at reasonable prices. See you there! Also if you are around Citrus or Sumpter County you may see a good looking hottie with pink hair. I found her at the Webster Bike & Car Swap Meet. She is on a antique civilian model 45 CI from the 40’s. You never can tell what you might find at Webster it has been hot but the lemonade is good. If you can’t find it see me or Georgia Boy – we will point you in the right direction. Thank you Dave Pras of Tri-County Cycle Center in Brandon for coming to my rescue twice. Check out September for something you will be interested in! See you soon Amber.

In today’s tough economy every single industry has been affected one way or another. Big Bear Choppers (www.BigBearChoppers. com) went through its’ share of hardships with rumors flying high and low coming from several directions. What people seem to forget in times like these is that companies led by true and legitimate leaders with real substance come out of hardships prepared, stronger, healthier and faster than their competition ever expected. You see when a mother feels her cubs are threatened, she will behave ferociously. It is recommended to give all bears a wide berth because they are behaviorally unpredictable. In that sense, Kevin and Mona Alsop both carry an innate strength characterized by the very name of their corporation. It seems the family is strong, healthy, prepared and fast approaching the future with all nonretractile claws wide open. With 18 offprings already, the family has now added 3 other cubs to the den; 1) a hot rod modeled after Kevin’s own personal bike (yet to be named), 2) the “Rage” (not available in USA yet) and 3) the “Venom” with a two seater (also yet to be named). All three hot models will be under a $20K price tag all because of a totally raw minimalist styled end-product. Let me tell you brothers and sisters that after I saw these bikes I seriously am looking at the “Rage” (available in softail only) or the “Merc” (available in both softail and hardtail). If that is not enough, the family is also ex-

panding its’ territory with confirmed and established Canadian as well as European (Italy, France, Switzerland and Germany) compliance certifications and dealers. The cherry on the cake is that the two wheeled beasts will go from a 1 year to a 5 year warranty and financing will be available in-house. With all that in store, about 50 employees, 80 dealerships worldwide (3 of which are in Florida; Chopper Design Services in Longwood FL., Haus of Trikes Florida in Fort Myers and Chopper Zoo in Fort Lauderdale), Big Bear Choppers is about to set the pace for better days. Kevin and Mona Alsop started Big Bear Choppers in 1998 building custom bikes for their customers. Throughout these years they created a thundering presence and solid street credibility for the Big Bear Choppers brand. They did this by producing creative, well built motorcycles with a personal customer service. With the help of national and international networks of authorized dealers, Big Bear Choppers’ motorcycles are becoming more and more sought out and readily available to those that desire to own an industry leading, premium all American made motorcycle. Born in a small town outside of Melbourne, Australia, Kevin turned a wrench on his first Harley when he was a young bloke at an early age of 15 years. He grew up racing and abusing anything from go-carts to dirt bikes to whatever had a motor to it. Today, after decades of experience

with engines and mechanics, he’s earned a deep understanding of the motorcycle drive train. Also with decades of living inside the Harley and custom bike world, Kevin has gained a skilled eye for motorcycle design. After moving to the States, he started building custom bikes in 1994 at a small chopper shop in Pomona, CA. After meeting and marrying Mona, they took residence in Big Bear Lake, CA to raise their family. Kevin started a repair business fixing anything from jet skis to Harleys out of a small shed for a humble living. Many years later with his talent and determination, he grew the business into a world recognized and leading motorcycle manufacturer. Kevin is the brainchild behind Big Bear Choppers’ motorcycle designs, components and direction of the company’s future. Certified as a Veterinarian Technician and wife to Kevin Alsop, Mona has a powerful, business street fighter instinct that keeps Big Bear Choppers straight and true to the industry and the company’s target goals. Success is only a by-product. Mona believes in a well respected family business philosophy that seamlessly working together. Mona was the youngest of four daughters. Mona’s dad was a blue collar worker supporting his family with a solid work ethic which nowadays could put many of us to shame. Mona’s dad holds a special place in Mona’s heart. It was and still is in a way a powerful father-daughter relationship. Mona’s dad passed

Full Throttle 52 away approximately one month ago. Mona’s parents would have been married for 50 years. (Our sincere condolences Mona.) Mom had the toughest job in the world; “Homemaker”. Raised in a strict catholic environment, Mona does believe in the God of the catholic faith and prays regularly. Kevin and Mona met in a bikers bar where her girlfriend worked as a bartender. At the time she was working midnight shifts at the clinic and stopped by at the bar to say hi to her girlfriend and get her fix of caffeine. Kevin she says approached her and with the “cockiest attitude” asked her to come back to his club house with him. The Latin roots of the Spanish and Mexican hot blood in her veins promptly and firmly verbalized to Kevin what he then and still now interpreted as confident self-respect. Two weeks went by and Kevin this time inspired by respect introduced himself as a gentleman should. Mona was a single mom at the time with little Robert then 5 years of age. She observed Kevin’s sincerity and his honesty and that is what got her attention then and still does now. Little Robert is now 19 years of age. Kevin and Mona gave him a little sister named “Madeline” and she is now 9 years of age. Both children ride of course. Holding his breath, Kevin says he learned a lot from his marriage to Mona. Specifically, gathering the courage to learn he is wrong when he is and admitting it. Mona too learned from her marriage to Kevin; “appreciate your spouse while you can, support them and allow them to be happy”. In essence they learned to be themselves and accept each other and support each others’ dreams. On the topic of marriage I thought I would have a little fun and so I read an excerpt from the Qur’an and an excerpt from the Bible and asked them which teaching was the teaching of peace. I will let you figure it out for yourselves: Qur’an Surah 4 v. 34; “As to those women on whose part you fear disloyalty and ill-conduct, admonish

them (first), (next), refuse to share their beds, (and last) beat them (lightly); but if they return to obedience, do not seek against them means (of annoyance): for Allah is Most High, Great (above you all).” - Abdullah Yusuf Ali 2007 Translation Bible Ephesians 5:28; “So husbands ought also to love their own wives as their own bodies. He who loves his own wife loves himself; (29) for no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as Christ also does the church, …” New American Standard Bible Kevin and Mona believe marriage is between two “people” but they also view it with conviction as a “privilege” and not a “right”. They also believe kids should come in the picture when a marriage is strong. They believe “everyday problems really do not matter when you can get out there and catch butterflies, have tea parties or build bird houses with your kids”. Kevin and Mona see the abortion issue as a choice but quickly add that this choice involves dealing with a “life” and that the choice better be made with great caution. Kevin’s dad was a Vietnam War Veteran in 1968-1969. His mom was also a “Home-maker”. Kevin’s dad was a Professor of Electric Engineering and the Dean of Faculty of RMII.

He was supportive of Kevin’s endeavors so long as he would pursue basic training through apprenticeships of his (Kevin’s) choice. Besides getting in scuffles here and there, keeping his hands dirty on everything that had an engine, Kevin was certified as a Machinist as well as a Diesel Mechanic. One of his jobs was to work on diesel engines of heavy equipment used in gold mines. Kevin’s first memories of riding are when he rode dirt bikes using old buildings’ ruins as tracks all while on the other hemisphere Mona was cruising on the back seat of Ninjas on the Turbo Canyon, Hollywood Blvd or Elysian Park in Hollywood Hills. It is hard for Kevin to clear his mind even when he rides. Mona to this day accuses Kevin with humor of being a “wild rider” back then inflicting the thoughts of “am I going to make it to the end of this ride?” in her. The state of the economy made the Alsop pair actually get closer and stronger not only as a couple but as business owners. They have revisited their priorities where in the past Big Bear Choppers was their #1 priority and now the family is #1. Interestingly enough with that said it seems both BBC and the family are stronger than ever. Kevin will find himself reading fairy tales to

Full Throttle 53 Madeline, going out eating ice cream as a family and Mona rides the “Rage” model when she isn’t occupied with her family. In fact, Kevin says he has “reclaimed himself”. There are two role models in Kevin’s life; Mona whom he says he draws his strength from and his dad whom he speaks with emotion and pride about his struggles, his honesty, and integrity and how he provided for his family. As for Mona, it is with tears in her eyes she reminisced about her role model; daddy. Daddy was an alcoholic but made up for it in the end by admitting it and brought peace to all by doing so and doing what was necessary. Mona would agree that so much is wasted because we can be in denial sometimes. So much good comes out of facing the music. The pain can be extreme because we must shed our pride and humble ourselves. It carves the crap out of us but it builds ties with those we love in ways that surpasses our imagination. We can be so self absorbed wallowing in our pain from the past, spraying a little addiction here or there on our wounds as band-aids. Mona’s daddy faced the truth in his heart, mind and soul and from my dealings with Mona he obviously left an immortal legacy of inspiration in his daughter’s heart. Mona is a strong advocate of learning from our mistakes and not judging so quickly. She says “anything done in a dishonest manner always does come back to haunt you”. Kevin believes “you need to live life everyday as if it was your last, prepared to lose everything at anytime” for those you love.

Both Kevin and Mona individually volunteer their time in schools. Kevin helps local high schools by doing speaking engagements and other things. Mona helps under the Regional Occupation Program. As business owners, both Kevin and Mona are extremely concerned with what is becoming of the American values that built this country. To have top executives borrow from our children’s future in the form of a bail-out without any accountability for bad choices they made in the first place is the source of great concerns. In sharing his experience, Kevin quickly clarifies that unlike others, BBC is not using our tax dollars to sustain or save his company. He does not need to. Kevin however has had opportunities to learn about what was available to his business and others’ businesses. He came to the conclusion that the help mostly goes from the top down rather than bottom up. Kevin believes a balance between real tax cuts putting money back in our pockets and government assistance from the bottom up might have proved a little more successful than what we have witnessed so far. The true sadness in this is that it pains me and the Alsops to no end to realize our children will carry the financial burden of the few at the top of the food-chain and no one seems to hold anyone accountable for what is done with our tax dollars. These are your tax dollars too! As a side note and for example, I laugh every time I hear Canada has free health care. The truth is that up there approximately 25% to 50% of your earnings will go in the government’s pockets plus a 7% to 15%

sales tax on almost 98% of products sold. The irony of this is that their governments have the audacity of saying “free” health care for all and then if you do a trip in any of their clinics or hospitals, the line ups are endless. You face an astoundingly long wait just to get an MRI if there is an MRI in a fifty miles radius. With the pending Barack Hussein Obamacare reform I see a lot of similarities in the reform with even less accountability so beware people. At the end of the day the Alsops would not change a thing. As they sat on their patio on a glorious Sunday speaking with me for pretty much half the day I discovered two genuine and sincere human beings. They live life to the fullest as best as they can. A mom and a dad first and foremost. Hard working and faithful to their priorities, they appreciate their health, their family and certainly all current and future Bear Choppers riders out there. The future does look bright for BBC as well as the Alsop’s and I am excited to share it with them. In the mean time I will simply be waiting for my “Rage” or my “Merc” guys ok (all blacked out please – no pony, no side car and no Oompa Loompa!). Keep your rubbers on the asphalt. ~ Night Train *NOTE: August 14th 2009 is a big day in Melbourne FL for the Morelock family as well as Billy Lane. Again I call upon you to come along side both parties and support them in your prayers and thoughts.

August Another Year Another Birthday (I think I’ll Stop Counting) This month or should I say last month I was asked to cover the July 18 Toys For Tots Poker Run. It started at Gulf Coast Harley and went to 6 more stops till ending at Cricketers on SR52. I could not make the whole run, but I did make the first and last stops. Here are some pictures of the people that made it so much fun to help the kids. As of the time I’m writing this. I don’t have the information about How Many, How Much or Who everybody is, but when I have the info I’ll try to do a recap with it. Full Throttle has its Christmas in July Run this weekend. Can’t tell anything about the future. A little Bikini Bike Wash Cutie (Brittany) Asked if I would check out the Legion of Doom Lucky 13 Summer Bash in the Spring Hill on July 19th. I’m not much on Sports Bikes, I’m to old to ride like that, but some of them have put a lot of work into their bikes. Some are true Works Of Art, and that’s what I like. Some of the hottest women are on Sports

Bikes also, front and back. I also like that. 4th of July Recap; The winner of 71 Iron head H-D at the Fisherman’s Shack was a taxi driver from the Hudson area. No I don’t have his name right now, but when I do get it, well you know. He said he was going to fix it up to ride. Way to go. That’s what bikes are for. I would also like to say congratulations to L H and Evie. Great July 11th Wedding. Oct will be here soon, time to get ready for the Cotee River Bike Fest, Spooks & Scoots and Biketober. So much to do, so little time. Till next time, Ride Safe and look out for the bad drivers. The Big “O”

Well the 1st month on the job has defiantly been a busy one. Before we got started, we took a family trip to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, where we and the 6 kids zip lined through the canopies, rode ATV’s up and down mountain trails and lounged by the pool. Then we spent the rest of our vacation with Gary’s family relaxing out at Bradenton Beach. We hope everyone had a safe and fun 4th of July. We started the long weekend on Friday with a Patriotic souvenir ride, put on by the American Legion Post 30. The ride ended at the Suncoast Powerboats by The Bay Festival, with a bike show and lots of vendors, music and fun for all . Saturday after a nice ride we watched the Sarasota fireworks display over the bay, which was absolutely terrific. If you’ve never been you should check it out next year. Now with all of the festivities behind us it was time to hit the road, we put a lot of miles on the glide over the month, while getting to meet a lot of great people and thanks to our hot Florida sun was able to maintain my tan !! We found quite a few bars and restaurants in the area trying to promote bike nites, we had a chance to attend a few like 2nd Monday of the month at Ed’s Tavern in Lakewood Ranch, they had live music, a bike show (congratulations to Myakka Mike for winning this month’s show)

as well as a 50/50 raffle if you’re in the area next month you should check it out. Will’s Honkytonk-Englewood is starting up their Wednesday bike night again. This is a weekly event with live music, “2 Sheets to the Wind Band” played the night we were there and were awesome! Will’s also has a drink special, if you ride a bike your 2nd drink is free. We have a couple of benefits coming up in October. The first is UNITY FEST at the Charlotte County Fairgrounds on Oct. 3rd (see their ad in the green section this month). We have volunteered to organize their poker run, which has been a lot of fun. Everyone who enters gets 5 chances to win $1000.00 as well as the regular 1st, 2nd and worst hands. The other is the North Port American Legion Riders Pre Biketober Fest to benefit the Wounded Warriors on Oct 10th. So mark your calendars and keep an eye out for more info in the upcoming issues of Full Throttle. These are both 1st annual events so let’s support them in true biker style. We tried to meet/ visit as many area establishments as possible, but unfortunately were not able to make it to all of them. So if you have an event you would like to publicize or to place an ad for your business please give us a call, we’d love to meet you! 941504-8297 or email to ridefullthrottle@live.com Until next month, have fun and be safe.

A driver is stuck in a traffic jam going into downtown DC. Nothing is moving north or south. Suddenly a man knocks on his window. The driver rolls down his window and asks, ‘What happened, what’s the hold Up?’ Terrorists have kidnapped Obama, Hillary Clinton, Barney Frank, Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, Henry Waxman, Chris Dodd, Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton. They are asking for a $10 Million ransom.... Otherwise, they are going to douse them with gasoline and set them on fire.We are going from car to car, taking up a collection... The driver asks, ‘On average, how much is everyone giving?’ The guy answers, “About a gallon.” *******************************************

Las Vegas churches accept gambling chips and have for many years. Now, this may come as a surprise to those who do not live in Las Vegas. There are more Catholic churches in Las Vegas than there are casinos. Many worshippers at Sunday services at various churches will give casino chips rather than cash when the basket is passed among the parishioners. Since the churches get chips from so many different casinos in town and outlying areas of Las Vegas, the churches got together and devised a very clever method on how to collect the offerings. Every Monday the churches send all the offerings of collected chips to a nearby San Franciscan monastery for sorting by church and then the chips are taken to the casinos of origin and cashed in and each church gets their fair share of the collections each week. All of this work is done by…………… the chip monks!! Gotcha!

A man walked into a doctor’s office and the receptionist asked him what he had. He replied, “I got shingles. ”She said, “Fill out this form and supply your name, address, medical insurance number. When you’re done, please take a seat.” Fifteen minutes later a nurse’s aide came out and asked him what he had. He said, “I got shingles.” So she took down his height, weight, and complete medical history, then said, “Change into this gown and wait in the examining room.” A half hour later a nurse came in and asked him what he had. He said, “I got shingles.”So she gave him a blood test, a blood pressure test, an electrocardiogram and told him to wait for the doctor. An hour later the doctor came in and asked him what he had. He said, “Shingles. ”The doctor gave him a full examination, and then said, “I just checked you out thoroughly, and I can’t find shingles anywhere.” The man replied, “They’re outside in the truck. Where do you want them?”

Having just moved into his new office, a pompous, new Air Force colonel was sitting at his desk when an airman knocked on the door. Conscious of his new position, and wanting to look important, the colonel quickly picked up the phone, told the airman to enter, then said into the phone. “Yes, General, I’ll be seeing him this afternoon and I’ll pass along your message. In the meantime, thank you for your good wishes, sir.” Feeling as though he had sufficiently impressed the young enlisted man, he asked in a very stern voice, “What do you want airman?” “Nothing important, sir,” the airman replied, “I’m just here to hook up your telephone.” ********************************************* The Harvard School of Medicine did a study of why Jewish women like Chinese food so much. The study revealed that this is due to the fact that Won Ton spelled backward is Not Now. ********************************************* A boy comes home from school and tells his mother he has a part in the play. She asks, “What part is it?” The boy says, “I play the part of the Jewish husband.” The mother scowls and says, “Go back and tell the teacher you want a speaking part.”

********************************************* A blind man wanders into an all girls biker bar by mistake. He finds his way to a bar stool and orders a beer. After sitting there for awhile, he yells to the bartender, ‘Hey, You wanna hear a blonde joke?’ The bar immediately falls absolutely silent. In a very deep, husky voice, the woman next to him says, ‘Before you tell that joke sir, I think it is only fair, given that you are blind, that you should know five things: 1. The bartender is a blonde girl with a base********************************************* ball bat. An older gentleman was on the 2. The bouncer is a blonde operating table awaiting surgery and he girl. 3. WHY? 19-year-old Sean Eric Roberts isn’t the smartest thief in the world! Roberts broke into a Riverview, FL mobile home and robbed the occupants. It wasn’t hard for Roberts to be identified when he was apprehended as he has the State of Florida tattooed on his left cheek along with the words “Crazy Cracker” ... come on Dude, at least wear a mask!

BADASS KID ROCK Kid Rock is doing a lot more than just being a rock n’ roll star. The Detroit singer is now a brewmaster and will be introducing a new beer named “American BadAss Beer” in 2010. Look for the brew to be available early next year at all major outlets!

EVERYTHING OLD IS...... With all the parody movies that have been coming out of California here is one that just had to be made. “Everybody Loves Lucy” will be Hustler’s version of the 50’s television series “I Love Lucy”. The crazy redhead will be played by Audrey Hollander and her real-life husband Otto Bauer will play Ricky Ricardo. The movie will be shot in both black & white and color versions.

FREEDOM???

I’LL DRINK TO THAT Based on multiple sources, Tampa ranks 24th on the list of “America’s Drunkest Cities”. That ties the Bay Area with New Orleans, LA. The leading city wasn’t Las Vegas, New York or Los Angeles .... it was Milwaukee, Wisconsin! Orlando was ranked 31st. The percentage of Tampa Bay residents who reported having a drink in the past 30 days was 59.3% .... let’s party!

“ADIÓS TACO BELL” Gidget is dead ... yes the tiny, cute Taco Bell Chihuahua died last month at the age of 15. The world famous canine celebrity was living the good life, relaxing, lying in the sun and semi-retired. I’m sure she will be happy in doggie heaven .... Yo Quiero Taco Bell!

Have you seen those black and white billboards around town that quote early American leaders like George Washington and Thomas Jefferson? They are funded by The Community Issues Council Organization which also fought against gay marriage. The billboards denounce the separation of church and state. They cost $50,000 and will be seen for the next six months. If you go to www.noseparation.org it explains that America’s government was made only for people who are moral and religious. It also says that “anti-God activists have incrementally removed the recognition of God’s place in the establishment of our country and we have gone downhill”. My personal opinion is this organization just wasted $50,000 and they need to remember how America was built. Freedom is a powerful word and one that this group needs to remember.

Honeymoon Island State Park in Dunedin, FL was named the most popular park in Florida last year. The park had 1.2 million visitors and took the award for the second year in a row according to the Associated Press. If you live in the Tampa Bay area, take a day and visit this beautiful location!

2 - 4 - 1 SMOKES

ANOTHER DAY, ANOTHER DOLLAR

Just when I thought I’ve seen everything, Camel Cigarettes shocks me! The company has come out with a new product called Camel Crush. If you squeeze the filter you can turn a regular tasting cigarette into a menthol cigarette. Wow ... two tastes in the same smoke. Now if they could only take the “lung cancer” out of the cigarette they would have something!

The federal minimum wage was raised from $6.55 an hour to $7.25 an hour last month. An estimated 4.5-million people are paid the minimum wage. Did you know that the first federal minimum wage was put in place during the Great Depression to try to stimulate economic recovery .... sound familiar?

After being in the cooler weather for a few weeks I feel like I 'm in an oven! It seems like when you are away you lose touch with those here as you travel to an area just to meet more biker people like you. If you are like me, you always find the nearest Harley shop. I found the one in Chillicothe, Ohio! Very friendly and it has two separate shops. One all H-D and I can't tell ya’ what was in the other! Now that I’m back, reality has set in. We (the chrome diva’s) are working on an event geared for women who ride motorcycles or who just like to be around them. "High Heels on Two Wheels" will be taking place Sept. 5th. (check out our flier in this month issue). We will be doing a poker run, workshops, fashion show with Czaia & Gallagher being our main sponsor! And yes ladies, we are even going to do a male auction! Our proceeds will be going to the March of Dimes "Bikers for Babies" which is a charity Chrome Diva's hold close to their heart! Until next time, let's keep it in the wind"

Man, is it hot out. Don't forget to do that 'pre-ride' inspection/check each time you head out. If you are riding in the 'heat of the day', make sure you have some water with you, or make an extra stop or two to 're-hydrate yourself. Even though our local and national economy is falling apart, thanks to our elected "hope and change" administration in Washington DC, don't give up. If we stick together, we can get thru it. In about a year, it will be time to listen to a bunch of "hoo-haa" again, as the political nonsense machine starts back up for the 2010 elections. I have an idea, let's all go register to vote, and pick a candidate that will represent THE PEOPLE, and then get out and help campaign for that candidate and vote for him/her. It's time to give the current "NON-REPRESENTING REPRESENTATIVES" the boot !.....ok, I am done, for now. Check the Crusin' Calendar for upcoming runs/rides, send me an e-mail if you are gonna have a run/ride/event, and please keep in mind that I need to know by the 3rd weekend of the month BEFORE the run/ride/event if you'd like it listed in the printed magazine, at FTPabs@AOL.com. You can also get the latest, updated info on what's happening at the Full Throttle Magazine Website, just point your browser to www.FloridaFullThrottle.com, and you are there ! Until next time, RIDE LOUD & RIDE SAFE

Well, this is going to be a busy month I can see it now!! Started in full swing on the 20th of June with a bash for the US Military Vets MC event at the Backstage Lounge in G-ville. It was a great turn out and they had CORE there for the event. Wish ya’ll would have stayed for CORE they were awesome as usual even though they only had three practices with their new drummer Grinch. If you didn’t know they just added him to the band you would never have been able to tell. They even had Tom from the Enforcers playing for Ryan, while he was away. Great job guys!! On July 11th I hosted my 4th Annual Cancer Society Poker Run. This year I added a few new counties including Alachua, since I am now the rep for the magazine in that county. I was amazed at the support I received from the local businesses for this being my first time in this county. I would like to thank those businesses and people who helped me on this run. Thanks to Bud who helped me host the run, Bret my ACS rep, Kevin & Gainesville Harley for all your donations, Donna & Alachua Sports Pub for all the food, donations, and help hosting, Dana & the Blue Roof Grill & Jonathon & Joes Place for a great breakfast at both starting points. Nettles Sausage Co for all the great meats to serve for breakfast & dinner, KC’s Produce for fruit & salad stuff, Wayne & Hitchcock’s in Alachua for the remainder of food needed, & Brian for cooking the meat. Thanks to West End Liquors, Dawg House, and Keg Room for being stops on the run and their donations for prizes. Gainesville Harley & Buell, APCNF, Columbia County Cycles, High Performance Cycles, Ricky G’s Tattoo Emporium, & my friend Mary for being

Hello everyone, I would like to say that I was given the honor to attend & escort one of our fallen heroes home. U.S. Army Sgt. Steven B. Vaughn (Brent) made three tours to the sandbox fighting for our continued freedom. Brent was his mother's only child. Riding with the Patriot Guard Riders & friends we welcomed Brent home. As I said before what an honor. The Ed White Commanders Memorial Poker Run was an awesome success. There were at one count almost 400 bikes that were parked outside of the Past Time Pub aka "The Jug". Thank you again Billy Bob & your staff, It was a long hard day & way into the night. The

sponsors of this great run. I would also like to thank my Chrome Diva sisters who came out to help with ticket sales and the drawing of the cards. Thanks to CORE for coming out & entertaining us for the night. And most of all would like to thank all of those who came out to participate in the run, you are all great!! We had a great turnout of 128 bikes, and just over 35 at the door & it turned out to be a gorgeous day. This year we raised three times as much as last year & will be turning over a check to the American Cancer Society for $1400. Next year the run will be back on its regular date, the third weekend in May. Thank you all & hope to see you next year. Want to see more pictures go to my site www.bikerornot.com/tripp1966. Thanks!!!!!!

music kicked off at 3 & finally called it night around 10. Thanks to all who donated items, time, money, and did I say time to put this event together. Thanks to all of our stops along the ride, we had seven of them. Without all of you coming together none of this would have been possible. Special thanks to our good friend, Rosco Jones, for asking me to help put a ride together. His niece, Kimber, was one of the girls that was lost in the accident. She will be deeply missed. May God be with all of these families during this extremely difficult time. Any questions, comments or info you would like me to cover please feel free to email me at ftlilbit@ yahoo.com Until next time, keep it vertical & in the wind. Lil' Bit

I hope you all had a good 4th of July it’s a time to be with good Friends and family. Just take some time to thank the ones that make it possible to live the way we do. Our military men and woman give so much to keep us free, God Bless All of you. I know a lot of you have been wondering were I’ve been, Well, I got to tell you, the last few mouths I had a run of bad luck. They say that God is always testing your faith and I believe he has had me on a full exams. I had a couple of bad falls that left me with some pretty bad bruising, so I can’t get my prosthetic leg on. Now thanks to John at American Ortho Teck, he’s making me a new socket and some time this mouth I hope to be back on my feet. I know lots of you are making planes for Bikertoberfest here in Daytona. I hope to see a great year! Just remember to stay alert and don’t drink and ride. You always here about how bad the cops are in Daytona and I have to agree, some of them can be a pain, but think about it, they got a hard job some times. They are working the streets that go from five thousand bikes to fifty thousand over night. Not to Mention the fact that about 1/2 can’t ride for shit. Let’s give the cop a chance. I know for me I have to say, I don’t think I ever had a ticket that I didn’t deserve, so if you ride safe you’ll be ok. If you made it to Sturgis I hope you had a safe and good time. It’s some of the best riding in the world. Keep reading Full Throttle for all our upcoming events. Till Next Time RIDE SOBER AND SAFE Peewee
