Wow ... we had a busy month of July! The Five Bridge Run, Bright House Field Bike Day, The Christmas In July Toy Run and weekly bike nights. It seemed we were always going somewhere! Well, the month of August also has great events happening including Biking To Beat ALS on August 7, Riding With Angels on August 15, the Cigar City HOG Chapter Poker Run and Starke Bike Fest August 27-29 to name a few. We will also be at QS&L every Wednesday night as well as Plant City, Webster and numerous other events. The thing that will change during August is the fact that Full Throttle editor Tony Cianci will not be in the Sunshine State August 6 thru August 19th as he will be riding his motorcycle to Sturgis, South Dakota! Look for plenty of stories and photographs coming from Tony in next month’s issue. This will be one hell of a trip for Tony and I want to wish him good luck, good weather and a safe vacation! It will be something he will never forget! Damn, have we had one hot summer or what? It’s kinda funny .... we all bitched in January when it was bitter cold .... we all bitched when we had six straights days of rain in June .... and now we are all bitching because of the heat! I guess we are extremely spoiled here in Florida and we just aren’t happy unless it’s 78 degrees, sunny and warm! At press time the Tampa Bay Rays are battling the New York Yankees for first place in the American League East. The Tampa Bay area lost one of our best citizens last month when Mr. George Steinbrenner passed away. He was a wonderful individual who gave back much more than anybody knows. Tampa was his home for many years and we have streets, stadiums, schools and hospital wings named after him. He saved the Florida State Fair, owned Tampa Bay Downs and started the Gold Shield Foundation for the families of fallen policemen. Yes, he was the owner of those dreaded NY Yanks and he did everything possible to win, but he also had a heart of gold. He will be missed and I doubt if he will ever be replaced by any other individual. R.I.P. Mr. Steinbrenner. Have a great month, stay cool and try to keep dry. I want to wish a happy birthday to Norma Fucito and I hope Tony and the “Odyssey Gang” have a great time in Sturgis!

Well, most of the month of August I will be Sturgis bound! So if you need me please feel free to text me or e-mail me as I will do my best to check them both each day. I am headed out on August 6th and get back to town on August 19th and back in the office on the 20th. I would like to thank all of my sponsors again for making this trip of a lifetime a reality for me. You are all truly great friends and wonderful people! I know a lot of people are nervous and excited for me but I promise to be safe and to make it back in ONE PIECE! Keep an eye out on my facebook page and our Full Throttle Facebook Fan Page for pictures. I will do what I can to post pictures along the way. Full Throttle is always looking for aspiring models for the magazine and for our calendar fold out with St. Pete Powersports. It is our centerfold every month and the model is featured at Quaker Steak one Wednesday night where she can sign autograph’s and take pictures with the Full Throttle readers. Any ladies interested in this opportunity please send contact information and a few pictures to tonyc@floridafullthrottle.com. I would like to welcome a few of our new advertisers to the magazine this month. First is MANX located on US 19 in Clearwater. They have great deals on used bikes and are very willing to help you find the right bike for you and get you on the road. Second is Intrepid Boats. These are some awesome boats and built right here in Florida! Third is Mugs ‘N Jugs in Port Richey. They are having a bike night the 4th Saturday of every month with a bikini contest, wing eating contest and a bike contest. Last and certainly not least is Giannet Law Firm. They specialize in Disability Law and Social Security Law. Remember that we are here because of our great advertisers! If you are interested to see if we can help your business, call us today and we will take great care of you and all of your advertising needs from ad design to flyers and banners! Full Throttle can be your one stop shop for all your print advertising! I would like to take this time to wish my two beautiful daughters a fun and enjoyable school year. Krysie is going into 6th grade and Ashlynn is starting Kindergarden. Good luck girls, Daddy is very proud of both of you!

I started the Fourth of July on the road with my brand new car to put some miles on it and see what she could do on a long trip. I went back up to my old address in upstate N. Y. to visit my daughter and two granddaughters and to visit the grave of my grandson who was taken from us too damn early in his life. After a few days in New York I headed the car to Virginia to see my son and daughter. Seems like the family is spread all over the place. My stay was too brief as I had to head back home. While on the way back I got news that my good friend and a big fan of Full Throttle, Smitty had passed away from a massive heart attack. He will be missed by all and a Memorial service will be held Aug. 1 at Dobie’s Funeral Home in Holiday. While I write this story we are getting ready for our annual 5 Bridge Run. I will be at the second stop, the Green Iguana, hope we get to see you all there. The model with my car is Tiffany and you will be seeing more of her. She really makes the car look extra good. The other photos are my daughter Toni and my granddaughters Morgan and Kaitlyn. Keep it upright! Big Al

Full Throttle 30 There are hundreds of motorcycle runs that happen every month .... some help organizations, others benefit individuals and some are just for fun. Full Throttle has been involved with thousands of runs throughout our lifetime, but none are as satisfying as the Toy Runs we do for St.Joseph’s Children’s Hospital. We do a Toy Run in December and one in July to help the hospital with money and toys for the children. Sunday, July 25 was the date of our 2010 Christmas In July Toy Run and once again it was fantastic! We had approximately 130 motorcycles start at Tampa Harley-Davidson and ride to St.Joseph’s Hospital. Being able to meet the sick children and their families one-on-one is a humbling and heartwarming experience. Watching them receive toys, hear the bikes rev and seeing them smile makes this my favorite event we host all year long. I want to thank sponsor Attorney Fran Haasch, Tampa HarleyDavidson and everybody who attended this year’s run. Congratulations to the Los Piratas Motorcycle Group for having the most members attend the run! I also want to say thank you to “Mr. Almost 500” who won the 50/50 drawing and donated his winnings to the hospital! Here are a few photos and if you would like to see additional pictures, please check out our website! By Paul Allen

KNIGHTS........NAZIS........ and the IRON CROSS A Nobel prize winning author said "never write about volatile topics: Religion, War, Nazis or your friends that are still alive". So its a good thing I'm only writing about the first three subjects! I can never tell where my ideas or story lines for Classic Ramblings come from or how they seem to occasionally get "off the topic" of vintage motorcycles. Guess it could be the flashbacks they warned us about or maybe its just my A.D.D. I guess I'm looking for the Holy Grail of columns, the one I will finish with.Steam powered motorcycles, JFK motorcades and now the Crusades of 800 years ago. Who knew our hobby, our sport, our passion had so much history to it? I had so many working titles for this particular "Ramble" and you my 37 loyal readers know how I favor the "three's" system for my headings. I just decided that "Mercenaries......Genocide and Gymnasts" was way over the top and just didnt seem "right". And I would like to state as usual, that this is not a statement of my religious, political or moral views or values. I'm not going to tell you what is right or wrong and what to believe in or what Indiana Jones film I liked the best , you folks as always will do just fine on your own. No, this is just the facts of history, nothing more and nothing less. We can't change it,and we don't have to like it. So sit back , put down the remote and put your "Mr. 400's time machine" seat belt on and enjoy this month's adventure "The History of the Iron Cross". It's truly amazing that we have to journey back 810 years to the beginning of this symbol, back to the Knights Templar, the Teutonic Knights and the Hospitallers and they all used this symbol, this cross to show "the masses" who they were, to stand out, to be noticed and to enforce and rule. Then 700 years later it would be used to show who the heros of Prussia's and Germany's battlefields would be, to have them stand out and to show who was different from the rest. It would then be reserected by one of history's worst evils the Third Riech which would appropriate two ancient symbols from the past, but one would be

banished and one, the Iron Cross would survive to this day and become accepted more as a symbol of rebellion,of non-conformity and of being different rather than the battle field award it was. Today was a special day here on Florida's West Coast, for today I got to go surfing. Now I have been surfing since the age of three and Hurricane Alex sent some fun albeit small waves to the shores of Sunset Beach. It was towards dark thirty and the parking meter running out as I carried my board to the truck. As I dried off I was talking to a couple "twenty something" surfers next to me. We chatted for awhile and I noticed the big Iron Cross decal glassed on his board. I casually asked "Do you guys know where that symbol originated"? They both almost said in unison, "It's kinda a biker, surfer thing". I agreed with them on that point, but then they added "Yeah it started in World War Two" and that my friends is where I disagreed. In the next few pages I am sure you will come to know more about the origin, history and uses of the Iron Cross then you ever wanted or needed to know. And when you next see one on that motorcycle or vest or hot rod you may feel very enlightened. Its AD 1119, "The Order of the Poor Fellow Soldiers of Christ and the Temple of Solomon" had formed in the wake of the First Crusade. They would become known as the Knights Templar and be tied to the Holy Grail, secret societies and to the symbol of their might "The Red Cross Pattee" worn on white surcoats and battle shields. And these Knights Templars were unlike any religious or military order or force to have ever roamed the earth. But my friends you know what they say? Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. So a second "Crusaders Club" formed. They called themselves "The Knights Hospitaller"the date was 1121 and it started a 200 year old rivalry through the 9 Crusades with the "Templars" and another soon to form "Order of the Knights" .The Hospitallers would adopt a black background and use the "Maltese Cross" which differs from the "Cross Pattee" as their defining symbol. So my friends you ask what were the Crusades? Well in a nutshell they were a group of religiously sanctioned military campaigns fought by the Western Christians against the Eastern Muslims between between 1095 and 1291 at the Pope's directions. The crusades originally had the goal of taking back Jerusalem and the Holy Land from Muslim rule, a goal they would ultimately fail at and the city would not be in Christian hands untill the British would capture it in 1917. So you know what the Knights Templars and the Knights Hospitallers were up to, but you remember that other "Order of Knights" I spoke of? This group of religious warriors formed in 1190 and would march into history as "The Order of the Teutonic House of Mary in Jerusalem" or as they became

known "The Teutonic Knights". They appeared later than their other two rivals and were made up of German Knights and priests with the task of establishing a hospital and the protection of German pilgrims journeying to the Holy Land.

Berlin designed Prussias "Eiserne Zeit" or "Iron Time". His design was heavily influenced by the Teutonic Knights. Originally created by an order of King Fredrick III during Prussia's period of "Blood and Iron" in their struggle for survival against Napoleon. It was then also awarded in the Franco German War of 1870. It would then move into the First World War as a medal to be awarded without regard to rank, for bravery, duty or leadership above all others. Once again it set apart men who were different, ones who stood apart from the rest. And they were true warriors for you see the Iron Cross was only awarded in times of war.

These knights would open up "shop" in the bloodiest fight of them all, the third crusade. In 1198 they took on a much more militaristic role to defend Jerusalem, this would lead them to take a different path than the Templars or Hospitallers. The Teutonic Knights turned more mercenary or swords for hire if you will and became ingrained in politics, all military actions and forced Christian conversion in Poland, Prussia, Hungary and many more "Euro Block" countries. Those that didn't convert, they killed. For these times my friends were very harsh, but it was the norm for this period in history. They even tried to invade Russia in an attempt to convert the orthodox Catholics to Roman ones. You have to say they were a " different" breed of Knights. The world had never seen the likes of these Knights. Amazing warriors on the battlefield, even their armoured horses were trained to bite and kick the enemy in confrontations. They grew in wealth and power and they influenced all that went on in their lands. They clung to their wealth and land well after their mission to the Holy Land was over, and they remained a strong military force through the 1700's. The order was dissolved by Napoleon in 1809 but pieces would remain in Austria through 1938. But then the Knights disbanded and for good reason. As Hitler and his propaganda machine would borrow heavily from the legends and images of the Teutonic Knights to inspire his new Army. The order reformed after the end of the second World War and now exists as the "German Order" as it was originally intended, to build and maintain clinics in foreign lands for German Communities. You know it's tough to condense 810 plus years into a few pages my Iron Cross bearing friends, but I left the best part out. Our Teutonic Knights used a Black Cross Pattee on a white long coat and battle shield and this was the beginnings of the Iron Cross as we know it. The Templars got it going in red, but the German Knights made it as we wear it today. The next version of the Iron Cross was founded on March 10th, 1813. Karl Friedrich Schinkel a renowned 31 year old architect and painter from

The Iron Cross is the most recognizable historical and yes notorious German award. Through the sacrifice of the men who earned it, this simple but historical design became a symbol of old world German courage and triumph. The gallant Prussian warriors, the victories of the Bismark era and the soldiers of World War I. The Iron Cross represented the old warriors who lived and fought in a different time and yes a different world. Everyone of these men of that era of the Iron Cross are gone but the symbol would have its darkest and most tainted period in its next form. It once again would be a different time in a different world. Between the years of 1939 to 1944 it will become one of the two most unforgettable symbols on the planet, and find its way into our culture. On April 20th. 1889 a man that they say "just wanted to be an artist" would be born. He would rise to power in Germany using speech, intimidation and symbols to move his war machine into a position that history would not forget. His name, Adolf Hitler who himself had received the Iron Cross twice in World War I and would eventually restore it as a military award for bravery and service to Germany in the next great war. It was a medal awarded to the common soldier or the highest officer, and the majority were given to the ground troops, which is how they made their way

to America after the war. Most given to men fighting with and for their friends and their country not unlike the Allied troops. But it is said that it was the presentations to the officers and the "higher ups" that so tainted this period of the Iron Cross. Well my friends, there were many exceptions to this and one would be Field Marshall Erwin Rommel also known as the "Desert Fox" to friend and foe. In World War 1 Rommel would be awarded the Iron Cross or its equivilent five times while a soldier in the German Army. But it would be years later and his actions in the second World War that Fieldmarshall Erwin Rommel would win him the respect of his peers and enemies ,both during and after the wars end and yes make him "different". Winston Churchill, General George S. Patton and British General Montgomery made comments on his chivalry on the battlefield and genius as a tactician. The Afrika Corps Panzer Division he commanded for over two years were never accused of any war crimes and Rommel referred to his fighting in Africa as "Krieg Ohne Hass" or War Without Hate. Then as Hitler's favorite general he was entrusted with the defense of the French coast against the allied landing at Normandy. Rommel demonstrated himself as a "worthy and skilled" officer during his service. Rommel won two standard Iron Crosses and went on to be awarded one of the highest forms of the Iron Cross, The Knights Cross with oak leaves, swords and diamonds (won in separate battles). He was extrodinarily well known not by just the German people but by his opponents on the battle field. There are many recorded examples of Rommel's chivalry toward his enemies and open defiance to what he called "the evils of Hitler". He refused to comply with an order to execute Jewish POWs and during his time in France he was ordered to deport the Jews there to Germany yet another order he disobeyed. During the fortification of Normandie, he saw to it that the French workers in the trenches were not to be used as slaves but were to be paid for their labor. But this multiple Iron Cross winner had come to find out he couldn't wage war in a chivalrous or "old school" way and he said "I must come to the rescue of Germany" and he became the highest ranking participant in the plot to kill Hitler and end his tyranny. At first Rommel did not want to assisinate him, he wanted him arrested and brought to trial for his hideous crimes and not make him a martyr but that proved impossible. For many years Rommel and so many others had thought Hitler had " gone completely mad" and was leading their country to ruin.

Well after the failed attempt to rid Germany of Hitler (see recent movie Valkyrie) Rommel's involvement came to light and he was given a choice to be tried in a sham trial and executed or to take a cyanide pill, save his family his name and pension and would be buried with full military honors. For how would it seem if it got out that Hitler's favorite General had plotted to kill him? Rommel choose suicide, and six months later, Hitler would be dead and Germany would surrender within a week. After the war's end Rommel's participation in the plot to kill Hitler became known (documented in the Nuremburg trials) his stature was enhanced greatly among former allied nations. Rommel who choose to have the Iron Cross used on his headstone is often cited in western sources as a general who fought a "fair and chivalrous" war. But it was the great Winston Churchill who said "He also deserves our respect, because although he was a loyal German soldier, he came to hate Hitler and all his works and took part in the conspiracy to rescue Germany by displacing the maniac and tyrant. For this he paid the forfeit of his life. In the somber wars of modern democracy there is little place for chivalry. "No I'm not glorifying the Nazis or defending them and I'm not taking away what our troops did to free the world from Germany and Japan. No this was just an example of a German General, a different General who prized Erwin Rommel's Grave the meaning of the Iron Cross and its ideals so much he was to be buried beneath it. This is also to show that during the dark 5 years of the Iron Crosses history in World War II, some...... maybe many were "different" than the normal. Yes the Iron Cross awarded for bravery came at the cost of millions of lives and atrocities, but the majority of the awards went to the common soldier or pilot folllowing orders to fight for his country and who by German law could not be a member of the Nazi party. The Iron Cross had an 800 year history as a symbol of faith, bravery and honor, but the five years Hitler used it cemented its place in a darker history. The Iron Cross while not a medal for the German Army anymore is still an emblem used on everything from its military vehicles and airplanes to the German Defense Ministry's website. Well my travelers through history, in August of 1945 nuclear bombs would fall on Japan and on Sept. 2nd. 1945 the second World War would be over and our victorious troops would be returning to a changed America, returning as the heros they were, and they would be returning to our shores with souvenirs, including, 9mm luger pistols, helmets, swords and yes many Iron Crosses. For this was how the Iron Cross

found its way into our counter culture of bikers, surfers and hot rodders. The rest as they say is history, as it became a part of the biking, surfing, skateboarding and hot rod lifestyle. To me the Iron Cross represents a symbol used by a different breed of people, through many different ages. It represents the Knights fighting for religion, for freedom and maybe greed. The German soldier that was doing what he was told, to save his country, his family and buddies. And did it above and beyond anyone else. It represents many of our heros, our marksmen. Many of who in a split second chose to be different, rather than run in fear. When I told my editor ( Sir Tony, Knight of the Cupcakes of the Order Navy Cross of Full Throttle) that this column 1943-Present would include Religion, Knights, Nazis, Muslims, War, Greed and Indiana Jones. His reply was "where's the strippers"? Now I'm not sure why I call him "editor" because not one of my brilliant words is ever touched and I never receive any e-mails on my articles, so I'm pretty sure nobody reads my stuff. So I guess I can "Classic Ramble" about most anything........except strippers. I draw the line there ,we all have to believe in something.

symbol from 800 years ago. The Iron Cross name also found its way into other different activities. It's one of the oldest and most popular craps betting strategies. It seemingly wins most of the time... according to many dice afficianados. There is also a community game in poker that uses the name Iron Cross. But there is one event that really deserves the name, it is one of the strength moves which is considered to be the epitone of mens gymnastics, it's the Iron Cross. It's an amazing feat of strength done on the rings that is recognized by everyone, Southern Cross Of Honor regardless of whether you follow gymnastics or not. Once again all this is done with the Iron Cross name attached to a group of "different people", be it feats of chance or strength. Hey friends, thanks for reading this drama. I'm not an expert on religion, a war historian or a symbols scholar. This article just Marine Sharp Shooter went where the research took it, and this symbol is so popular at our bike events and ingrained with the biker mystique that I really felt it needed its entire story told and its true history. Yes, hot rodders out there should use it, and not everyone has a motorcycle in their garage.....or a surfboard. Not everyone knows how to tub/chop or channel or build a bobber or cafe racer.

As my research into the Iron Cross progressed I came to find that many medals of valor and bravery have Distinguished taken the shape of the Cross Pattee or Flying Cross Iron Cross. The Victoria Cross issued since 1856 is Britain's highest award for valor, "in the face of the enemy". The Navy Cross established by an act of congress in 1919 is the highest honor awarded by the United States Department of the Navy for "extreme gallantry and risk Hell, yeah, we are different like the Teutonof life in actual combat with an armed eneic Knights of the Crusades in many ways. my force and going beyond the call of duty". Just some out of the ordinary people doing And there is the Distinguished Flying Cross their thing, with crazy helmets and rides that (1926-present) awarded to any officer or ensometimes bite and kick, many of us sportlisted member of the U.S. Armed Forces for ing the Iron Cross on their "shield" or jacket "heroism or extrordinary achievement while or board. Looking for their meaning, their in aerial flight". Our very own Marine Corps spot in history to keep our rebellious nature Navy Cross and Army both use a form of the Iron Cross. alive? And really my friends isn't that all we 1919-1942 In their weapons qualifications badges. The are trying to do? Confederate Army used the "Southern Cross of Honor from 1862- 1865 for valor to the confederacy. Wear your Iron Cross proudly my different non conforming friends. And when It's very interesting someone asks you what that at so many difthat Black Cross stands ferent points in time, for, well, just smile and tell how how many varied them its a long story............ and different military Robert Demoss branches have used, and to this day still base their valor and Army Qualification Badges bravery awards on a

I know that I have got on my bike and went places and didn't really know where I was going many times. One time I went on this ride and I really enjoyed doing this and I do not know if I will be able to do it this year due to my health. If you like yard sales, this is the place to be. Starting August 5 in Gadsden Alabama and ending in Hudson Michigan. It is known as the worlds largest yard sale also known as the 127 Corridor Sale. There is a strong possibility you won't be able to see it all this year. Someone told me about it years ago and I only went thru Alabama. There were so many places to stop and so much to see, I was overwhelmed. I bought a Husquvarna Dirtbike and made $450. My girlfriend at the time bought a silver coffee pot and teaset along with some gold jewelry plus numerous other things along the way. The following year I almost bought an airplane – there were quite a few antique trucks and bikes. I liked to look for small things I could put on the bike and I really liked to look. This is a great outing on a bike. If you make it all the way to Michigan, you have really done something. There are just so many nice people to meet. If your lifestyle is anything like mine, you will love it. There are a lot of antiques for both men and women.

If I do get to go this year, maybe I will see you along the way. If your read Marilyn's story in last months FT, you know that our friend Marge passed away. She had worked for Thunder Bay Ray for the past 10 years and has been around for a long time. If you ever went in there and needed parts, she made your experience a pleasure. Marge told me about a year ago she bought a new house and had been fixing it up – what a shame to acquire your dream and have this happen. She left a 17 year old son behind as well as a lot of friends. We are all going to miss her. For those who don't know where Thunder Bay MC shop is, it is located at the corner of Hillsborough & Tampa Street in Hillsborough County. If you get by there, be sure to give Ray and the Staff your condolences. My friend Mark who is been restoring mostly old Harley's has closed his body shop down and is now restoring MC's full time. His new location is in Hillsborough County, Tampa, Florida. The address is 2702 35th Street, Tampa, FL 33605, 813 972 9297, Shop, 813 335 9831, cell. I have seen quite a bit of his work and it is excellent and he shipped on to Australia that was a real winner. He has sold them all over the world. If you have any knuckle or Harley parts you want to get rid of, he would be the person to talk to. He is a very nice person and someone worth talking to. He has been an advertiser in Full Throttle since the first issue and continues to do so with a business card ad. See you soon, my niece Susie and Family...

Last month was definitely emotional. The loss of many friends and family members, their anniversaries and the horrific tragedy of the senseless murder of two of our very own Tampa Police Officers! BIKERS AGAIN stepped up to the plate. What started out with a Memorial Ride for Marge “Large Marge” Tuplin, of Thunder Bay Custom Cycles, many friends and families came out to show their Love and Support! Marge's last wish was for her 16yr old son Cole to go on a class trip; we were all with him the day before he departed, with a party to remember his Mom. What a great day! We Miss you Marge! On July 10th, it was a beautiful day with beautiful people, that joined in for the Moment of Thunder Tribute for Bike Builder Brad "The Wrench" Ruel. All proceeds benefitted the American Heart Association. Brad passed away last year in his prime of undetected heart Disease. The ride was awesome and at 1pm, we all revved up our bikes, to make sure he heard us in the heavens! The same day, was the first of many benefits for TPD Officer Curtis & Officer Kocab. The Renegade Pigs Motorcycle Club and Big Bellies Burgers in Brandon hosted a benefit for the two fallen officers. It was truly AMAZING! Thousands gathered for the families of fallen officers. The benefit was organized by this Bay Area motorcycle club made up entirely of law enforcement officers. The event helped accomplish much more than raising money! A couple days later a couple hundred came out to show their love and support to the deployment party our very own USMV MC Magnificent Seven, President Tamale, which has since been deployed overseas to serve our country. Tamale…WE MISS YOU, and wish you a safe return!! See you in October, possibly for Round 2...lol!! The following week LAMA, NAM KNIGHTS Westside and Raccoons Bar and Grill came together once again for another huge Benefit for the fallen officers. The President and Vice President of the local P.B.A attended memorial, and they were completely humbled by the support the BIKER community displayed!! Thousands of dollars were raised, and BIKERS came together once again! Then on the 11th anniversary of losing my Mother, July 23, I received a FB message”Surprise you've been "SeZTwisted"!!” It's one form of art where the artist takes what he feels as inspiring photos and creates artwork. He creates each one individually and signs them. Don Farmer (SeZuan) the artist, has a unique gift in the form of art called "SeZTwisTing". Much like "Norman Rockwell" he is inspired to capture the good and what's right with people and our culture. Although I never met Don, many say he truly captured ME!! My passion for patriotism and children! As seen with here with Charlie NcNabb and I. Charlie's Mom calls me "Charlie's Angel". With the American Flag/Eagle that appears to resemble Angel Wings it blew me away!! If you have family or friends that you want to "SeZTwist" you can call Don Farmer at 813-402-6250 or email him at sezuan62@yahoo. com. He will do parties and events and can come to you for personal portraits."Have artist will travel". Be sure to look out for him at up & coming events! Until Next time...

STIX BILLIARDS BIKE NIGHT The 3rd Tuesday of each month will be the Stix Billiards Bike Night. They have some beautiful ladies there for your viewing pleasure and offer free pool and darts, great drink specials and a bike show for all the bikers. Besides that Mike and Spike run a variety of games from trike races, loud pipes contest and a slow race. This is a great time and is located on the Southwest Corner of US 19 and Klosterman in Palm Harbor. The Next Bike Night is August 17th with the band Cosmic Voodoo. They have room for vendors also! See their ad on page 9 in this month's issue! See you there on August 17th.

BIKE NIGHT AT BRIGHTHOUSE FIELD

Early afternoon July 24 was hot and steamy at Bright House Field in Clearwater. Bikes started rolling into the facility around 3pm. Vendors (including Bike Show sponsor St.Pete Powersports) set up their tents, the band Sign of Life played rock n- roll music and things were shaping up for a great evening of motorcycles, baseball and fireworks! The bikes made their way onto the field and the National Athemn was played. However, that’s when the skies started to turn black, the wind picked up and Mother Nature started her own fireworks display!

Everybody sat around for over one hour and when it finally stopped pouring, the game was cancled. The Full Throttle staff got soaked trying to save the St.Pete Powersports tent from the wind and water, jumping in the puddles and racing mulch chips in the water currents but .... we were all disappointed that the evening’s bike show, ball game and fireworks display were cancled. Here are a few photos from the afternoon and hopefully we can reschedule with the Clearwater Threshers! by Paul Allen

Strip club choppers was established in 2004 and is owned and operated by Johnny Lange and Jay Barbieri. Johnny has worked for various motorcycle manufacturers including Exotix, Ironworks, Indian and The Wrench prior to starting SCC. Jay Barbieri currently produces Discovery Channel's Two Wheel Thunder and formerly produced American Thunder on the Speed Channel for 5 years as well as being the author of The Bikers Hand Book. Both Jay and Johnny tour together on the SCC Roadhouse Tour along with Michelle Smith, star of Two Wheel Thunder. When on tour, the WEATHER is a great equalizer, for all bikers...As they travel from event to event no matter how big or small one thing that cannot be controlled is the weather. The weather has a direct impact on the success of all motorcycle events. Three of the last events they did are case and point. The Strip Club Choppers Roadhouse was booked in Davenport Iowa for Sturgis on the River, Oklahoma Bike Week in Sparks Oklahoma and their first NASCAR event, the Coke Zero 400 in Daytona Florida. All had vastly different weather. Sturgis on the River has had a reputation for tumultuous weather and this year didn't disappoint. In the past for this event has had floods and severe thunderstorm, this year tornado sirens bleared for two days. Fortunately for everyone involved Glen, Jessica and the rest of the staff are weather crisis veterans and handled the situation professionally. Next stop was Sparks, Oklahoma and the weather there was a blistering ninety-five degrees and sunny. Not quite the crises of a tornado but heat can take its toll on you after a few days, however the promoters Tony, Amanda and their staff supplied more ice and cold water than Canada in a snowstorm. This kept them and their VIP tent patrons very happy. Last but certainly not least was the Coke 400 in Daytona their first NASCAR event, unfortunately it was a wash out, and the race was postponed. Needless to say it was not very good for sales. The moral to this road story is; promoters who are professional and prepared for any situation can turn a potential disaster into a great time. Extreme weather or not, their sub culture is all about pulling together and helping each other weather the storm! You can catch them this month in Sturgis at the Monkey Rock where top-headlining artists like Creed will be performing. They're BACK...Formerly of American Thunder, be sure to check out "Two Wheel Thunder" with Michele Smith & Jay Barbieri every week on Motorcycle Mondays, on the Discovery network’s HD Theater! New Show, New Channel, same Great Motorcycle content!! For more info visit them at www.stripclubchoppers.com.

Press Release Contact: David “Lockdown” Rich Public Relations Trustee, ABATE of Florida, Inc. 386.490.4821 FAX: 396.490.4482 statepr@abateflorida.com www.ABATEFlorida.com

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

State of Florida Announces Large Decrease in Motorcycle-Related Deaths in 2009 Deland, FL, July 13, 2010 – In early July the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (DHSMV) announced new data revealing a large decline in deaths occurring from motorcycle crashes in 2009. Over the last few years, the State of Florida has been reporting a decreasing number of deaths while motorcycle registrations in Florida have been steadily increasing. From 2000 to 2008, Florida has reported an average increase of 12.98% per year in motorcycle registrations1, but reported a 0.77%, 2.90%, and 25.10% DECREASE in motorcycle crash fatalities for 2007, 2008, and 2009, respectively2. This is welcome news as motorcyclists in Florida have just celebrated the 10th anniversary of the freedom of choice when deciding if they were going to wear a helmet when going out to ride. Ten years ago on July 1, 2000, Governor Jeb Bush signed into law the repeal of Florida’s thirty-year-old requirement for motorcyclists in FL to wear helmets. Motorcycle registrations in Florida went up nearly 20% in a one-year time span3 (2000-2001) immediately adjacent to this repeal. Additionally, since 2004, the State of Florida has been reporting that the majority of motorcycle drivers and passengers in fatal crashes have been wearing the optional safety helmet. Although motorcycle helmets do offer some defensive measures when one is involved in a head-trauma accident, these numbers offer evidence that a helmet is not the magic safety device many purport them to be. The large decline in motorcycle crash fatalities may possibly be attributed to better motorcyclists’ training, as well as ABATE of Florida’s copyrighted Motorcycle Safety and Awareness Program (MSAP), which has been funded in part by the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles for the last few years. ABATE of Florida, Inc.’s MSAP makes presentations to civic organizations, Driver’s Education classes, public events, and many other opportunities, educating the motoring public that motorcycles are on all of Florida’s roadways. More information on these new startling numbers may be found on the DHSMV’s website at www.flhsmv.gov. More information on ABATE of Florida, Inc.’s MSAP may be found on our website at www.abateflorida.com. ---With over 7,500 members, ABATE of Florida, Inc. is Florida’s largest Motorcyclists’ Rights Organization, and the fourth largest nationwide. ABATE of Florida members consist of all types of motorcyclists. Our missions include educating the public about motorcycle awareness and continuing to fight in Tallahassee for the rights of every motorcyclist and the public in general. To aid in these ends, we have an exclusive lobbyist and have founded the Motorcycle Safety and Awareness Program, both with the intentions to help make the roads safer for everyone. ### 1 2 3

The 8th Annual Five Bridge Run was a huge success as over 225 riders made the trip over the five bridges that span Tampa Bay. The day started at Hennessy’s in Oldsmar and riders went to Sports Rock in Largo, visited the Green Iguana in Tampa, stopped at Biff Burgers in St.Petersburg and ended up at the Wing House in Bradenton. The overall winner with a full house (threes over tens) was Lori Brunson who took home $496.25. Gestapo Bob finished second with another full house (threes over sixes) and won $297.75. Finishing third and winning $99.25 was Tina Schinedler with an ace high flush. The worst hand was won by Dante Mancini who had the perfect low (2-34-5-7) and took home $99.25. We also had five people who won $10 each in the loser’s pool! The weather getting to Bradenton was great, but everybody got wet riding home as it poured around 6:00pm. I guess we all expect to see rain anytime from May until October here in Tampa Bay! Thanks to all the stops and thanks to everybody who participated in this fun run! by Paul Allen

FELLAS YOU’VE BEEN DUPED!

So you think the idea of giving a woman a diamond as a symbol of love and marriage has been around forever? Well, that just isn’t a true fact. The tradition of the diamond engagement ring was invented in the 1930’s by NW Ayer & Son ... an advertising agency for the DeBeers Diamond Company. Now that was one profitable advertising campaign!

GETTING HIGH ON THE JOB

If you have experience growing pot, there could be job opening in Oakland, California! The city voted to license four production plants where marijuana can be grown, processed and packaged for public sale. After hours of debate, the city decided that it will generate millions of dollars in taxes and create jobs for the area. Companies vying for the four licenses will have to pay $211,000 in annual permit fees and devote up to 8 percent of gross sales to taxes. Medical marijuana is legal in California and in November, Californians will vote to legalize recreational marijuana. AND THE AWARD FOR BEST CAR DEALER GOES TO As shocking as this may sound, the biggest seller of new vehicles in the entire Tampa Bay area is not located in Tampa, St.Petersburg or Clearwater. That honor goes to Hyundai of New Port Richey in Pasco County! The dealership is also the number one Hyundai dealer in the State of Florida and the third largest in the USA. According to sales data from AutoCount, during the first five months of 2010, the dealership sold nearly 1,500 new vehicles .... no other dealer in the Tampa Bay market even cracked 1,000! Congratulations go out to Hyundai of New Port Richey for doing a remarkable job in a very difficult economy!

ARE YOUR FRINEDS USERS?

Two years ago Facebook barely had 100 million users. Last month the social media giant reached its 500-millionth member! Facebook users have uploaded over 50-billion photographs, they start 115-million friendships per day and create over 400,000 events each day. All these numbers are growing larger and not only in the USA. Statistics say that approximately 70% of Facebook users live outside the United States with the fastest growing regions being the Middle East, Indonesia, India and Brazil.

POOR LITTLE RICH GIRL How bad must things be for porn star Janine Lindemulder when she can’t even get physical custody of her daughter? Janine, lost a custody battle in a California court with her ex-Jesse James who received permission to move his daughter to Texas. This allows the motorcycle builder to be closer to his ex-wife actress Sandra Bullock. The judge had to decide between two people who have not exactly been perfect parent role models and I guess Jesse was the lessor of two evils!

GONE BUT NOT FORGOTTEN You don’t have to be an avid book reader to know the name Steig Larsson. The week of July 26th, the Swedish writer held three of the top four spots on USA Today’s Best-Selling Books List! His “Millennium” trilogy of “The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo”, “The Girl Who Played With Fire” and “The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest” have dominated the charts since early May. The bad part about this remarkable feat is that Mr. Larsson died of a heart attack in 2004 without ever seeing any of his books in print.

LUCKY #9? Here we go again .... for the ninth time, Mons Venus club owner Joe Redner is running for public office. This time he is not running for a seat on the City Council, he has his sites set on the House District 58 seat that is currently held by Janet Cruz. The 54 year old Cruz, won the District 58 seat in a special election earlier this year. She is a fourthgeneration Ybor City native who knows the city well. The seventy year old Redner was defeated in a runoff election in his last City Council bid.

An immigrant comes to Florida and after a few weeks a friend tells him he has to go get a driver’s license, his license from the old country is no good here. So he goes to the Department of Motor Vehicles to get his new license. He signs in and then told he has to take an eye test. An examiner puts up on the screen the letters CZJIWNOXSTACZ. “Okay, can you read this for me?” The immigrant looks at him and says, “Read it? Mr. Examiner I know the guy!”

A husband quietly asks his wife, ‘You never argue with me when I get mad at you. How do you always control your anger like that?’ She gives him “that” look and replies, ‘I clean the toilet.’ ‘I don’t understand, how does that help?’ he asks. With a big grin she says, ‘I use your toothbrush.’
