Happy Holidays!! The Toy Season is here and it’s when the motorcycle community is at their best! Nobody gives year after year more than bikers and hopefully 2009 will be no different. Of course, I would like to see all of you join Full Throttle at Tampa Harley-Davidson on Saturday December 19 for our annual Toy Run to St.Joseph’s Hospital, but I realize there are multiple toy drives and runs that happen every year throughout the Tampa Bay area. If you can’t make our event, please do something to help the less fortunate this season. Our 13th Annual Anniversary Party was a huge success last month and I heard Tony spent a lot of time under water in the dunk tank! We had a good crowd but it would have been much bigger if Mother Nature wasn’t so nasty! The clouds and rain didn’t help things, but luckily, the rain didn’t come until 4:00 pm. I want to thank everybody who donated bicycles to the Sheriffs department as well as everybody who attended the event. Tracy and I were a bit busy that particular weekend as we were in Key West saying hello to our new baby granddaughter who was born on November 21st! I had the opportunity to hold Isabella when she was about 30 minutes old and it was a moment I will not forget! Look for the Full Throttle crew at all the toy runs and bike nights this month. We are starting to gear up for our Annual Expo that will take place January 29-31 at the Harborview Center in downtown Clearwater. It will once again be a huge event that you will not want to miss! Call the office for vendor information. Have a great Christmas and a very Happy New Year. Please party responsibly and don’t drink and ride! Good-bye 2009 and hello 2010 !!!

Facebook

November was a month to remember! There were a ton of great events to go to from Kahunas, to the Ribfest, to Palm Harbor Bike Fest and of course our 13th Anniversary party! But, it did rain on our parade, but not until 4pm so it was still a nice turn out for such a crappy day! I was in the dunk tank raising money for St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital and bicycles for the Local Law Enforcement in Oldsmar. It wasn’t that cold until Mark Waters and Brad Souders decided to dump a whole cooler full of ice on my head and into the tank! Then it got cold! Thanks everyone who showed up, donated dunked me and had a great time. If the weather would have cooperated it would have been 10 times the size it was! December always brings around the best time of the year in my opinion. Parades, charity rides, and of course our Teddy Bear & Toy Run on December 19th. But first is the Annual Jim Rosenkrans Toy Run from Jim’s Harley-Davidson on December 6th (NOT THE 5TH AS IT WAS WRONG IN THE NOVEMBER ISSUE) There is also the Toy Drive at Biff Burgers that happens every year on December 12th, and the Suncoast Brotherhood Toy Run on December 20th the day after our Teddy Bear Toy Run! So try and open your wallets, open your heart and give what you can! The Florida Motorcycle Expo & Bike Builders Invitational is fast approaching! We will have the site up and running with vendor applications and tons of great information. The event will be at the Harbor View Center in Downtown Clearwater on Cleveland Street. This will be the last year at this location as it is to be torn down starting in February 2010. The dates this year are January 30th & 31st, 2010! We are working on some great give-a-ways, goodie bags and a special surprise for all paid admissions! More info to come on that in the future! Check our website for more info www.floridafullthrottle.com Now for the Personal Stuff!! Welcome to the world Isabella Helaine Cianci! My Brother and Sister-In-Law (Paul Michael & Christine) had their 2nd child on November 21st at 5:30pm. I am a proud Uncle again, and Happy Birthday to Jakey who is now a big brother. I would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas, a Happy New Year and good blessing this holiday season. Remember what CHRISTmas is all about! Make that first kiss mean something this New Years Eve, give thanks to all the military fighting for our freedom, give what you can to the needy, make amends where they need to be made, live life, smile and love! Merry Christmas, Happy New Year and don’t drink and ride and I will see you soon!

Full Throttle Magazine November was special. We in chapter D have been going to Seffner Elementary School for Veterans Day for about 10 years now and this year we added Buckhorn Elementary near Valrico. Chapter D and Chapter T and Chapter I did the Flag ceremony at Seffner, had breakfast and went into the classrooms for Q and A sessions. These kids have done their homework on the military. We went from Seffner to Buckhorn, had lunch and more Q and A's, after which we picked up toiletries that these kids had collected for hospitalized Vets along with hand made GET WELL CARDS for the VETS also. This is such an emotional day, they asked what it is like being a Vet and what did you eat and where did you sleep along with the guns you fired. It was a long day which an early morning ride to be at Seffner at 7:45 am and being as noisy as possible. We look forward to this every year. Don't forget our TOY RUN ON SUNDAY THE 13TH OF DECEMBER. LOOKING FORWARD TO SEEING EVERYONE. Everyone have a VERY SAFE AND HAPPY HOLIDAY SEASON.REMEMBER A VET DURING THE HOLIDAY SEASON. UNTIL NEXT YEAR, REMEMBER TO RIDE SAFE NO MATTER WHAT YOU RIDE. What a year it has been! The Diva Angels have so much to be thankful for this year. We had opportunities to take part in special events such as the Bikers for Boobs Ride, Faces of Courage Ride, and Full Throttle's Christmas in July Toy Run to name a few. We also participated in "sweat equity" projects such as Habitat for Humanity, Clearwater Jazz Festival, Brothers Powdercoating Motorfest, Oldsmar Freedom Bikefest, Ribfest, U2 Concert concession and many more. This year we participated in our first Chili Cook off where we placed second in the HOT category! We had several mystery rides and day trips one of which was tubing down the Rainbow River as well as several beach rides and of course Biketoberfest. If your organization is a 501(c) 3 group and you are looking for assistance please feel free to contact the Diva Angels Tampa Bay Chapter and we will see what we can do. We are always willing to help those in need in some capacity if possible. Needless to say we were very busy but we couldn't have done it without all of our Diva sisters. We would like to thank all of our 2009 Directors for a job well done and we welcome our 2010 Directors and wish you the best in your efforts for the new year. All Angels, officers or not are valued members

and we are blessed beyond words to have such a wonderful team. We would also like to wish all of the Full Throttle readers a wonderful holiday and a stellar New Year. We are planning a ride on New Years Day as it is an annual Diva tradition. We will ride to lunch then visit the Manatees at the Progress Energy Power Plant. Meet up time is 11:00am and KSU at 11:15am. We feel it will bring you good riding luck throughout the year so please feel free to join us! We have all heard the old saying “Nobody Talks, Everybody Walks,” in reference to a group of people facing the same charges. How about the old mob saying “Loose Lips Sink Ships?” Sure we have all heard these sayings and for the most part they are accurate. Our government uses leverage to nail people that they want to. When someone is a target of our federal government, they will use whatever means in their power to get charges to stick. Often this means offering lenient sentences to one of the group members (wink, wink, nod, nod, we really don’t have a deal with you but if you testify nice things will happen – meaning you will serve less time) in order to testify against the target member. So what is the by-product of all of these under the table deals cut by the government? It is a huge incentive to get people to lie under oath in order to receive lesser sentences. I am sure we can all recall Sammy “The Bull” who testified against John Gotti in New York. Good old Sammy “The Bull” had murdered 19 people during his mob career before deciding to flip on John Gotti. There is no way someone who killed 19 people would be let back on the street is there? Wrong, “The Bull” served some time, then went into the witness protection program and was put right back on the street. Killing 19 people sure netted him a severe penalty, didn’t it?

Obviously, Sammy “The Bull’s” case is an extreme one that doesn’t happen all the time. But the fact of the matter is that people lie everyday in court in order to have the opportunity to testify against someone else knowing that they will get a lesser sentence for lying (I mean for perjuring themselves). Once they get the conviction they want, the government then walks the rat up to the podium asking the original sentencing judge to give him less time because he assisted in getting a conviction. It gets worse than that. The government doesn’t even break into a sweat using people in jail pods to say that a defendant confessed to them about the crime they are facing. What most of these snitches really did was to read the defendant’s police report in his holding cell without him being present and then call their attorney up saying he has information about an inmate who confessed to him. Our judicial system is supposed to bring the truth to the surface. The problem is that there are many people lying who are rising to the top instead of the truth. Snitches will do or say whatever they have to in order to get back to their crime filled lives. Ride Smart, Be Educated on Your Rights, and Trust No One (Except me), Jerry T.

I WANT A NEW DRUG......................

Huey Lewis and the News made this song a hit in 1984 and it got me to thinking, I wanted a new “fix” in the motorcycling world. You see I live in a world of original paint, new old stock parts, and being a collector of un-restored “survivor”bikes, originality is your fix. My thrills come from Stucchis in Italy telling me they have found an original but worn, still working clutch cable or finding a NOS side cover on E-bay, after searching for it for 2 years. So I thought I would find a rough condition vintage bike and chop, cafe and bobber it some. You know, one that was too far gone to be brought back. But everyone I have found the past year, well I'm either riding them or they are in the “future rider barn” I can’t cut up their frames or put advanced shocks or gel seats on them, I just can’t change history. Seems all vintage bikes are saveable to me. What led me to this idea was the fact that the cafe racers and bobbers of the 50’s and 60’s weren’t vintage bikes in their day but current machines to be made to go faster, handle better but still make an individual statement about the owner, and it was in that order of importance. A bunch of guys working on each others bikes, using local bits and vendors and if you were lucky a friend's machine shop. Speed, handling and style couldn’t be ordered out of a catalog or online then and couldn’t be bought off a cable tv bike show. The first thought that went into these bikes was speed, they started with the motor not chrome and paint but pistons, cranks and carbs. Then the weight, less is more, simple meant speed. But with a strong motor and lightweight the bikes handling was not overlooked, when those guys got in the “ton up” club it included the curves and twisties of the countryside. Also ergonomics and reliability were a must. These bikes went somewhere (and not on a trailer ) cross state, cross country on epic journeys not from home to the bar only in good weather. And they needed to be able to be fixed on the side of the road if need be, again simple was in. Many of today's “customs”, “bobbers” and psuedo cafe bikes could not be ridden from their trailers to a local bar, and the few that could make it from their home to a local bar, well the rider has at best “minimal fun” and no desire to explore another zip code. With non-existant , suspension, poor riding position and horrendous handling and balance I tend to see many at the shows but not on the road. But at the very least these guys (allbeit poorly) tried to make their vision, but it was with a more show than go mentality. To me the worst offenders are the “lets bolt on all the aftermarket crap we can buy” guys, no vision, no fun, just a heavier, fatter cookie cutter bike. So none of the above is my new drug, my new fix. In my heart I just can’t butcher a decent vintage bike, the current custom bikes are more artwork then cool simple riders and if they do “go” its only in a straight line. And I have stockbikes they are just all vintage. So I decided on going with a unique to start with, later model bike, something different, something with history and personality and do it in the mindset of “how they did it in the old days.” on a budget, involve your friends and local bike gurus. People you respect and have fun with and share your vision of a cool but simple bike, one that handles, one that starts reliably! One that stops people in their tracks, the right people. And most of all one you could ride to another city or state. So after months of Craig's List, e-bay searching and calls to the wrecking yards my donor bike appeared, an 02 Ducati 749 Superbike, located in a Tampa salvage yard, everything I wanted for $150.00 dollars American. Well, after a few conversations with Tony Cianci of FT and Rev. Jim of Preachers Custom Cycles it became clear that they had been thinking of a simple, clean, attention getting bike. A bobber type bike done on a budget. Well, with them having the ability to involve vendors and other professionals in the area, well this became a perfect project for us all, the “old days bobber “with a bit of a new twist. Its been an interesting ride, filled with new experiences , sketches at bars, hours on e-bay searches for custom parts and, making new friends at Eurosports and

Wyotech. There’s been a lot of cell phone minutes used and problems but it’s a shared vision of people taking on an odd and difficult donor bike (Ducati) overcoming locked up engines, ignition issues and tough to find parts. But we are still moving ahead, making an industrial looking bike that stands on its history, and its pedigree, that looks custom and most definitely out of the box. This bike won’t need decals or badges, you will know its a Ducati. Still it’s been a different experience for an original antique guy like me talking about custom engineering , fabrication, mix and matching parts. But I think this bike will have a soul, a connection to history and all the cool people involved in it. What started as a Superbike in Italy, was forgotten in a junkyard in Tampa and now is being resurrected by some great minds. We are bringing “Attila” back. Not some butchered up bar hopper, or trailer queen but an innovative, back to basics cool bike. Todays custom bikes are pushed out by shops all over the world, but how will they fare in 20 or 30 years? Will they still be cool? Will the “TV show” and “Rock star builder” bikes be collectible? I think the better the custom fits the role of being a motorcycle, a true rider the better the chances someone will find it desirable in thirty years. With these standards I think many of todays custom bikes will be forgotten but thats just a current vintage collectors take on the future. This really was the new drug I needed, but old habits don’t go away. I’m looking for an original paint fuel tank for my 1974 Titan right now.......................... Watch for all of us in January . Robert “Fucati” DeMoss MR 400 welcomes comments, ideas and pictures. Contact him at Mr300@floridafullthrottle.com. Full Throttle Magazine Hi All … Went to Ribfest this year with Brettman. The food was great and we rocked out to The Zac Brown Band. You know “Toes in the water and your a** in the sand.” I think it’s my new theme song. Stopped in at the Palm Harbor Bike Fest and it was hoppin when I was there. Greg Billings Band rock the night away on Saturday and everyone enjoyed. The block we live on in Dunedin had a cool block party the weekend before Thanksgiving. There was a band, raffles and even little red riding hood strolling down the street with jello shots, (You know who you are). We then had the 13th Annual Full Throttle Anniversary Party out at the Round Up in Oldsmar. Dive Bar Stalkers were great and if the weather could have been as good as them, we would have finished with a bang but it was the thunder that was banging. Check out the Christmas rides and I know I will see you at some of them and lastly. Queen and I want to say Congratulations to our daughter, Alenandria who graduates from college on Dec 19th.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you all………DEW

The weather was beautiful, the crowds show up is full force and the event was a huge success, like in years past. Besides the Bike Show that was judged by Rev. Jim from Preachers Custom Cycles and sponsored by K & K Custom Cycles, there were great bands on stage all day long including Highway To Hell AC/DC tribute band, and the night ended with the first appearance ever at Palm Harbor Bike Fest by Greg Billings! There were a lot of groups who participated in this event this year to make it the success it was, including L.A.M.A, the Italian Angels, The Diva Angels and others. The toy ride was also moved this year from the WalMart on US 19 to the parking lot on the corner of Alt. 19 and Curlew! There were around 300 people on the parade that entered the event in the early afternoon. We look forward to this event every year and next year will be bigger and better if that is even possible! Congrats to everyone involved in making Palm Harbor Bike Fest the huge success it was and will continue to be!

The day was overcast and never really got sunny but that didn't stop us from having a great Anniversary Party on Nov. 22nd. The vendors set up, we had the Dive Bar Stalkers jammin out on the stage, The Round Up had a DJ outside playing tunes in the breaks, the wrestlers put on one heck of a show for the crowd and of course I was getting wet in the dunk tank for charity! We ended up getting around $200 for the dunk tank in cash and 8 bicycles for the Local Law Enforcement in Oldsmar. The rain also held off till around 4 or 4:30pm. enough time do do a few raffles, some auctions, hold the bike show and have a decent crowd. Unfortunately Mother Nature decided to water the plants. I would like to thank everyone who came out to party with us from the vendors to the riders. We move this event around every year so you never know where it will be next year. We had some great raffle prizes and auction prizes and I would like to thank Nighttrain, Tampa Harley-Davidson, JP Cycles, Michael Lichter and everyone else who supplied us with these great items! Next year will be bigger and better, just like every year past!

November was Lucky 13. That’s how long Full Throttle has been around I am happy to have been here for, most of them. I have met so many nice people I don’t remember most of the names but I remember a lot of the faces and it makes life worth living and I would like to thank every last one most of all the ladies! I was at the Old Town Swap Meet put on by the HOG members. They did a good job, thanks Brandon H-D. I think this event will grow I don’t drink, but I sure did like the beer girl. Thanks for the hug, it made my day (Check out the pic of her and I). Also, I got to see my friend Brandy a pic of me and my friend Chuck. She will be leaving us soon as she has joined the Air Force. She has been seen in Full Throttle and was a calendar girl on the Hard Rock calendar. I’m sure she will do good serving us in the Air Force. Will be looking for her in uniform. You can see her from time to time at the Webster Swap Meet, the first Sunday of every month. My favorite monthly event! You can’t understand why I like so much but maybe you can if you are a regular. We will see you under the old oak tree. Sorry I lost the picture of the nice good looking girl. Maybe I can get a new one for next month. The 13th year party was great except for the rain but you will never get experience riding home in the rain if you let the weather man scare you away from bike events.

Congrats to Quaker Steak and Lube and Bill and Laura on another successful Mega Bash! There was a Harley given away to the lucky winner pictured here from Fletchers H-D, and the Greg Billings Band played some amazing tunes on stage! Did anyone catch the ugliest biker competition! There were some babes, that's for sure! The Lube always throws a great party with good food, great entertainmant, Radical Randy on the MC and reasonable drink prices! We are already looking forward to next year!

Robert DeMoss

David Neville called me last minute when we were going to print for the November issue and asked me if we could fit an ad in the magazine for Ribfest this year. I didn't bat an eye when I knew The Zac Brown Band was coming along with Blue Oyster Cult and others! I rode there on Sunday around 4pm just to see them play their hits like "Toes In The Water" and "Chicken Fried." They did not dissapoint as they rocked on stage for quite a long time! David and his wife also had a few VIP passes for us here at Full Throttle so we spent most of our time in that area. The ride home was brisk, but well worth it, for such a great concert. Look for Full Throttle to be there next year with a booth, enjoying ribs and great muisc. Thanks David for a great time!

One of the oldest and most special memories I have relating to motorcycling goes

back to when I was a little boy. My dad was the proud owner of a brand-new 1976 Kawasaki KZ 900. I was nine years old back then. Every week my dad would go on a joy ride with me. He would sit me in front of him right on the tank. His big hands would take my little hands and guide them to hold the handle bars while he would take the controls. We would ride on country roads for hours. It was just the two of us. Even as I write this I cannot adequately describe how it felt as a boy to go on motorcycle joy rides with dad. To this day it is not without emotions when reminisce about these memories while I ride. Now I give thanks that I can hold the controls of handlebars myself on my own bike. A small dream came true.

Along with these memories I also remember in my bedroom the classic Easyrider® movie poster of Peter Fonda and Dennis Hopper riding their motorcycles on a desert country road. I vividly remember staring at this poster for extended periods of time daydreaming about the days I would ride my own motorcycle with dad beside me on his own motorcycle. Back then bikers were not viewed in a very favorable light. The Hells Angels or likeminded clubs were causing serious havoc and the media was eating it up. Despite that there was a frenzy about motorcycles and choppers as well as the lifestyle. As far as I remember there was always a few familiar faces that kept coming up either in prints or on TV. They were counted amongst spokespersons, leaders, industry contributors and so on. Mondo, owner of Denvers Choppers (www.denverschoppers.com) was one of those familiar faces that just kept coming up. As previously mentioned in my column entitled “Reengineering Himself” back in July of 2009 on Billy Lane, Mondo has often been called or referred to as the “Godfather of Choppers” by many of his peers but Mondo will quickly be the first one to credit his best friend, the late Denver Mullins as the real “Godfather of Choppers”. Mondo started building custom bikes with his best friend and partner Denver Mullins in San Bernardino, CA in 1967. Denvers Choppers was instrumental in starting the aftermarket industry that is flourishing today with custom parts including: frames, custom choppers and especially custom springer front ends. Denvers Choppers started manufacturing parts for their own custom motorcycles and designing the stretch bikes which are still in vogue today. Denvers Choppers was the first company to manufacture the long down tube stretched frames, or the Swedish style as they became known, which was actually Denver’s style. There’s even a motorcycle club in Sweden called “Denvers Choppers” named after the long stretch bikes. Denvers Choppers became famous worldwide in the early 1970s, and their parts have been used by world renowned bike builders over the last three decades. Denvers Choppers has been and will continue to be one of the leading trend setters in the industry.

Full Throttle 58

Full Throttle 59 Not only have Denver and Mondo developed the long bike you see today but they were also instrumental in the development of the drag boat safety capsules that are still in use by most drag boat racers. Denver and Mondo’s passion for drag boat racing which they both competed in came to a tragic ending when Denver was killed in 1992 in his top fuel drag boat. Denvers Choppers’ bikes have been featured in hundreds of magazines around the world for 37 years. Mondo was awarded “2001 Best Custom Fabricated Bike Builder of the Year”. He also has the great honor and distinction of having a painting made by the legendary Dave Mann of him riding the “30th Anniversary Chopper”, which he was chosen to build for the 30th anniversary of Easyrider® Magazine. Mondo was also a participant on the Discovery Channel® Bike Build Off® against Indian Larry that ended so tragically with Larry’s death. Mondo was also an active contributor who appeared with Billy Lane in the “Blood, Sweat and Gears Tour” for the Discovery Channel®. Mondo was born in 1949 into a white collar family. Besides dad being successful in the insurance business, other family members were into aerospace, law, medical practice and other sectors. “I was the black sheep” Mondo said to me while chuckling. As a building contractor, Mondo employed approximately 100 employees. Motorcycles were always a passion for Mondo. Denvers Choppers was initially a hot rod car shop which evolved into a choppers shop. After putting his time in for his own company during daytime, Mondo would head over to Denvers Choppers shop and work endless hours until the wee hours of the morning. Mondo and Denver had an agreement with each other that if anything was to happen to one of them that the survivor would take care of the other’s family and the business. When Denver died back on October 4, 1992 in LA., Mondo sold his company. He bought Denvers Choppers and carried the torch, to this day, taking care of Denver’s family. Back then Mondo says; “Only bikers rode bikes. If you had a bike, you had to earn the right to ride it and if not they would take your bike from you”. Mondo misses Denver tremendously. The kidding around and torturing each other was all part of that generous and good friendship. One day Denver even went as far as buying a brand-new drag boat for Mondo for no particular reason and with no strings attached. Mondo was once married. Her name was “Doni”. He quickly admitted to me he was a jerk and he could not blame her for divorcing him. He is a very proud father of his daughter Kim who is also a motorcycle enthusiast. In fact, Kim attended the 2008 “Street Vibrations” bike event in Nevada and was named “Miss Street Vibrations” for that year. Kim is also a model. She was awarded the “Miss Rodeo, Nevada” title. She runs a daycare and is the mother of Mondo’s granddaughter, Hailey. “Those are the two women of my life!” Mondo declared. Photo ©Michael Lichter / www.lichterphoto.com

Mondo’s current favorite ride is of course a Denvers Choppers bike which he says is essentially a clone of the HarleyDavidson FXR model. He remembers his first bike was a 1954 Harley-Davidson Panhead he bought from one of the members of the Hells Angels club. Mondo’s favorite ride is the Vegas to Sturgis one which totals approximately 1,250 miles. “The sense of freedom and who I ride with is what makes all the difference. You need to trust who you ride with especially when you are handlebars to handlebars nearly touching each other at 80 to 100 mph.” says Mondo. As a legacy “I want to keep the history of motorcycling and choppers going. I want people to know who started what and why.” said Mondo. Mondo has been asked to write a book and he is getting closer to doing it as the dawn of retirement is starting to come up in the horizon. Some of the most influential people in Mondo’s life so far have been: Sonny Barger who was one of the founding members of the Hells Angels club in Oakland California whom Mondo enjoys hearing stories from the old time; “Peewee”, current President of Sin City Hell’s Angels chapter for whom he has built a bike and whom has become a dear friend; Billy Lane of Choppers Inc. whom Mondo says was born 20 years later than when he should’ve been born simply because he believes Billy has the old soul of a 1960s biker. Billy, Mondo says, “would work on a bike all night, eat and sleep covered in grease in his shop and take off for a ride with a sleeping bag and a toothbrush, and because of that he reminds me of bikers I grew up with”. As a side note I detected a great affection in Mondo’s voice for Billy (a sentiment we both share). A fourth influential person in Mondo’s life would be Aaron Green whom Mondo says must be one of the most innovative bike builders in our modern time. One of the values Mondo lives by comes from an old saying of Sonny Barger: “Treat me good and I will treat you

better, treat me bad and I will treat you worse”. Essentially Mondo tries to treat everybody the way he would want to be treated. Anyone who comes into his shop is treated with respect and dignity. As a matter of fact I can witness this in that despite Mondo’s world renown fame, he has treated me with the utmost respect and conducted himself in our conversation in a most pleasant and cordial manner. Mondo believes that “life is all about making good memories”. “When I die I want to die fast and on a bike. Not slowly and be a burden on anyone” he told me. Mondo claims to believe in the God of the Catholic faith. He also literally prays every day but his relationship with his maker is a very private matter. I was privileged to go in depth with Mondo about that and I will respect his privacy. Mondo says with a respectful chuckle that marriage has taught him that men and women are very different (no kidding!). He says if you can find a mate you are truly blessed. Mondo only has good things to say about his ex-wife. When you ask Mondo about fatherhood you can sense in his voice the absolute, complete, and total unconditional love for his little girl. I asked Mondo about the youth of today. While there are exceptional young individuals out there, it seems however and most unfortunately that the majority appears “lost in the abyss”. There is a clear “lack of discipline”. There is “no respect for authority or adults and even for themselves”. Mondo believes this decline has been caused in part by “time out” instead of good old “spankings”. On the political front, Mondo is quite transparently opinionated and makes no apologies for it. As we are facing hard economic times, Mondo believes Pres. Obama is a “fraud” and that “he made a lot of promises about transparency but as an example nobody read the stimulus bill”. “How can you pass an $780 million bill filled with earmarks as if it

was Christmas for his cronies and not have anyone read that Bill? It is wasteful spending [at our expense]. Obama put people in power who cheated on their taxes. It is just good old Chicago politics. It is frightening and it is a shame.” All in all Mondo is a good old fashion, oldschool, true and genuine biker like they don’t make them anymore. Wears his heart on his sleeve, ready and available to help whenever he can. A good dad. An absolutely awesome builder of bikes. Tremendously respected by his peers many have called him the “Godfather of Choppers”, and I must say that makes the envy of many “Knuckleheads”. When you next see a long stretched custom bike and when you next see a springer front end or even a Top Fuel Boat, you can think and remember two of the greatest contributors of the industry: Denver Mullins and Mondo. Mondo made a promise to Denver to take care of his family and the business if something ever happened. Mondo kept his word (something many men cannot do these days). This is called a sense of honor and a sense of integrity as well as loyalty. When I asked Mondo what his values were, he did not speak of those. I believe he does not have to. I believe they are second nature and engraved into Mondo’s heart as part of who he is in his core being.

When I finished with Mondo he shared that he had never been through an in depth interview as the one he experienced with me. “It is an honor” Mondo said. To this I would respond; Mondo, it is an honor and a privilege for me to have shared an in depth conversation with you, an icon of my childhood. Not only an icon of my childhood but the icon in the childhood of people around the world. A true pleasure getting to know you. Merry CHRISTmas!

Night Train But I say to you who hear, love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.” (Luke 6:27-28)

Have A Safe and Happy Holiday From Holiday, Florida

I want to do a recap of the Grand Opening of “Up The Creek Pub” from back in Sept. They had a car show, a bike show, free food and music. You could have watched two gas powered bar stools race around the parking lot and do some burn outs. It’s a nice local bar that welcomes bikers. It’s next door to one of those dollar stores. So riding a bike is a good thing. You can only carry so much on a bike. But if you want a cold beer. You go to “Up The Creek Pub“. It’s one red light east of US19 on Trouble Creek in Elfers. It’s behind the AutoZone on Grand Blvd at Trouble Creek. They have 4 TV’s so you can watch the race, the football game and keep up with the weather all at the same time. I drop in from time to time and have a cold beer. Come drink with me.

But officer, how the heck did that tree get in the middle of the road?? After meeting with my group of experts on the dangers of the roads, it’s their conclusion the roads will not change. For the last 20 years drunk drivers have been arrested, put in jail and fined thousands of dollars. Yet people still drink and drive, (Remember if it weren’t for booze and cars there wouldn’t be as many moms). Now we have cell phones that cause more accidents than the drunks and nothing is being done about it, and if there is a law made I’m sure most people will still find a way to keep talking (new cars manufacturers are already making cell friendly cars.) And let's not forget the people that are behind the wheel knowing they have mental or physical disabilities and should not be driving!! Everyday we see dummies driving down the road eating and drinking, reading the

paper, playing with the radio, putting on make-up and my favorite mom yelling at her brats in the back seat. And let’s not forget about the crazy’s driving in and out of traffic, so they can be the first at the next red light, and about how mom or dad getting their teenager that just got their license a crotch rocket that goes 180 mph!! The roads are dangerous. It’s up to you to drive smart and stay alive because the dummies are out to get you. Note: To polite drivers that have the right of way at lights or stop signs don’t wave the other driver to go, if you have the right of way. Get the heck out of the way. Goodnight Kilroy wherever you are.. Bubba

“I’m just a Bill, yes I’m only a Bill…” Many of us with a few gray hairs beginning to peek out (ok, maybe a little more than a few) will probably start singing in our heads the next line and have fond memories of sitting in front of the TV on a Saturday morning with a bowl of sugar puffs cereal in our laps watching the Schoolhouse Rock cartoon video… Come on now, you all know you still remember almost the entire song. Why is it then that so many here in Florida keep asking “What happened to the “Stiffer Penalties Bill” last year?” To answer that, let me tell you a story (no, not “bout a man named Jed, poor mountaineer barely kept his family fed”… enough childhood memories for now). In the process of telling what happened and what we’re planning to do about it, lets also talk about how ABATE of Florida gets Bills for bikers made into law. First off, the “Stiffer Penalties Bill” from the 2008-2009 FL Legislative Session was designed to even the playing field when comparing car vs. car and car vs. motorcycle accidents and the related penalties to the at-fault driver. In Florida, when a car hits another car, the driver is normally fined $500. However, when a car hits a motorcycle, the driver would only be fined $86. How is that fair, especially when car vs. bike accidents are often fatal? Last year, our “Stiffer Penalties Bill” was killed in a hearing by the second committee. What’s that mean? Let’s go over the whole process: For an idea to become a law with ABATE of Florida’s involvement, Doc Reichenbach, the President and Lobbyist for ABATE of Florida, Inc., will bring up an issue, usually concerning motorcyclists. The ABATE of Florida State Board of Directors and the Chapter Delegates from each of the 32 chapters throughout Florida will meet and discuss this issue, and after talking with each Chapters’ Members, make a decision if ABATE of Florida wishes to file a bill to deal with the specific issue. Next, Doc will write up the language of the proposed Bill and then lobby for a State Representative or Senator to “sponsor” it in the Florida Legislature. The Bill will next be filed and numbered, then after the “First Reading”, it will usually be referred to the appropriate committees for review. Keep in mind that there are normally many committees our Bill has to go through, almost none of them will meet only once about this Bill, and our Bill can be killed or modified at any of these many hearings. To help prevent our Bill dying a tragic death, Doc goes to testify at these hearings and meet with the Senators or Representatives to help breathe life into it. Doc and Scribe (ABATE of Florida’s Legislative Trustee) will then keep an eye on the Bill’s activity as it proceeds through these committee and council hearings. Hopefully, our Bill will receive a “favorable” report from these bodies, and if so, it’s off for a “Second” and “Third Hearing” before being voted on in the House or Senate. Once it passes that, it’s off to begin the same process in the opposite side of State Legislature, and Doc and Scribe have to be at it again. Once it has successfully navigated through all of this, our Bill now has to be signed by the Governor, who can still Veto it. Our “Stiffer Penalties Bill” was doing well last year. All of the sudden, the Chairperson of the committee on Criminal and Civil Justice Appropriations was not happy with some of the posturing being done with the Bill’s timeliness, NOT AT ALL the fault of anyone with ABATE of Florida, Inc. This resulted in our Bill dying in committee. The Legislators involved understood the situation, and Doc is again preparing to write another version of the “Stiffer Penalties Bill”. It’s expected that one of the many Representatives that support us will sponsor this version again. The description in the 1975 Schoolhouse Rock cartoon “I’m Just a Bill” may sound complicated enough, but to get a full understanding of the ENTIRE process an idea takes to become a law in Florida, make sure to download and read the November 2009 Scribe’s Legislative Voice by visiting www.abateflorida.com, then clicking on the Legislative Information Center link. Well, here we are, the last month and issue of 2009. Man this year has just sped by. Though for many it has not been the best year on record but for Gary and I it has been pretty wonderful. Last January 16th, Gary asked me to marry him and our wedding date has finally arrived. We will be celebrating our wedding with family and friends on Christmas day with a beach ceremony. Then off to Hawaii for 2 weeks (I can’t wait). So check in next month for all the details and scenic Hawaiian pictures. Unfortunately we only made it out a few times this last month, but what we were able to make it to was a lot of fun. On Halloween we met up with our friends John and Theresa and headed to Port Charlotte for the First Annual Charity Halloween Poker Run to benefit C.A.R.E. of Charlotte County. The afternoon started at Boomers Sports Bar/Grill in Port Charlotte. The fun started early with door prizes given away before Taz as the Werewolf led the pack of 32 bikes on to Slip Knot in Punta Gorda. More free door prizes were raffled off at Slip Knot before heading on to Tilly’s Tap on Hwy 17. The festivities continued with music and more prizes and a 50/50. Then it was off Skippers Cove and then onward to the last stop, Q’s Sports Bar & Girl where live music and fun awaited. A special thank you goes out to Chefs Javier & Barb for their wonderful food that was ready and waiting for the participants. The festivities continued with the high hand in Poker netting the winner $145.00, a 50/50 drawing and the first ever Popsicle licking contest. Then the evening wrapped up with a raffle of surprise items donated from community businesses and all the participating bars. Taz, Kat & Friends along with Q’s Sport Bar & Girl presented Kay Tvaroch, Executive Director of C.A.R.E. of Charlotte County a check in the amount of $571.00. This could only be accomplished with all the business donations and such a great group of participants. Special Thanks Goes out to: Q’s Sports Bar & Girl, A Big Thank You to the Moose Riders of Punta Gorda for all their help and participation, Tracey & Gary of Full Throttle, and of course our local businesses that donated to make this a success: Boomers Sports Bar & Grill, Slip Knot, Tilly’s Tap, Skippers

Cove, Peters Family Restaurant, CiCi’s Pizza of Port Charlotte, Johnny’s Diner & Pub, Tropical Supply, Peace River, JJ Taylor, Publix in Charlotte Harbor, Winn Dixie in Pormenades. We were able to make it up to Old Palm Harbor Bike Fest as well as Full Throttles 13th anniversary party, which we would like to congratulate Paul, Tony and all on the success of this GREAT MAGAZINE. Also congratulations to Paul for his new Granddaughter. If you get a little time on the 5th of December Black Widow Harley Davidson in Port Charlotte is hosting a Bad Santa Old Fashioned Christmas Party for the Kids. See the cruising calendar for more details. Hope to see you there. We would like to wish everyone a HAPPY AND SAFE HOLIDAY and we’ll see you next year! Tracey and Gary

Two Rednecks are out hunting, and as they are walking along they come upon a huge hole in the ground. They approach it and are amazed by the size of it. The first hunter says “Wow, that’s some hole; I can’t even see the bottom. I wonder how deep it is.” The second hunter says” I don’t know, let’s throw something down and listen and see how long it takes to hit bottom.” The first hunter says “There’s this old automobile transmission here, give me a hand and we’ll throw it in and see”. So they pick it up and carry it over, and count one, and two and three, and throw it in the hole. They are standing there listening and looking over the edge and they hear a rustling in the brush behind them. As they turn around they see a goat come crashing through the brush, run up to the hole and with no hesitation jumped in head first. While they are standing there looking at each other, looking in the hole and trying to figure out what that was all about, an old farmer walks up. “Say there”, says the farmer, “You fellers didn’t happen to see my goat around here anywhere, did you?” The first hunter says “ Funny you should ask, but we were just standing here a minute ago and a goat came out of the bushes doin’ about a hunert miles an hour and jumped headfirst into this hole here!” The old farmer said “Why that’s impossible, I had him chained to an old transmission!”

In a small southern town there was a Christmas “Nativity Scene” that showed great skill and talent had gone into creating it. One small feature bothered me. The three wise men were wearing firemen’s helmets. Totally unable to come up with a reason or explanation, I left. At a “Quik Stop” on the edge of town, I asked the lady behind the counter about the helmets. She exploded into a rage, yelling at me, “You stupid Yankees never do read the Bible!” I assured her that I did, but simply couldn’t recall anything about firemen in the Bible. She jerked her Bible from behind the counter and ruffled through some pages, and finally jabbed her finger at a passage. Sticking it in my face she said “See, it says right here, the three wise man came from afar.”

CHRISTMAS QUICKIES Why doesn’t Santa Claus have any children? Because he only comes once a year and it’s always down the chimney! What’s the difference between snowmen and snow women? Snow balls. Why do transvestites like Christmas? Because that’s when they can don their gay apparel. Hear about Adolf the Brown Nosed Reindeer? He was the same as the others, just couldn’t run as fast. What do you get when you cross a ********************************************* snowman with a vampire? Frostbite. A burglar broke into a house one night. ******************************************* He shined his flashlight around, looking for valuables and when he picked up a CD A cowboy appeared before St. player to place in his sack, a strange, disemPeter at the A blonde teenager, wanting to bodied voice echoed from the dark saying, earn some extra money for Christmas, decided to hire herself out as a “handy-woman” ‘Jesus is watching you.’ and started canvassing a nearby well-to-do He nearly jumped out of his skin, neighborhood. foiled by facebook Ok ... so everybody has a facebook account right? Well, you better think twice before you post photos and day-to-day activities or you could end up like Nathalie Blanchard from Quebec, Canada. You see Nat was on sick leave from her job and receiving monthly benefit payments as she was diagnosed with major depression. However, when her insurance company saw pictures of her at a Chippendale’s bar show and having fun they stopped making payments, saying they have proof she is no longer depressed .... you’ve been warned so be Do you wanna feel old? Last month the PBS televicareful!!! sion program, “Sesame Street” turned 40 years of age!

Big Bird is 40!!??

Yes, Big Bird and the gang have been teaching children the alphabet and numbers since 1969! Numerous celebrities and politicians have appeared on the show and it is still a safe, wonderful and fulfilling program for children! By the way ... did you know that Caroll Spinney has played Big Bird since day one?

Where’s Van Helsing? Do you know these names .... Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson or Taylor Lautner? If you don’t, then you are not hip or into vampires! These are the three main characters in the movie saga “Twilight: New Moon” that is causing teenage girls (and most females under 40) to go crazy! Vampires and werewolves have been popular for years, but the huge success of the Twilight series has brought them back in a big way! Look for these three actors to get bigger and bigger in upcoming years!

I’ll have a pound of arm If you think things are tough here did you here about the three homeless Russian men who killed a fourth man, butchered his body and were caught selling pieces of him to other homeless people for food? I would like to think that could never happen here in the USA but looking at today’s economic conditions I’m just not absolutely sure.

Home, Home on the range Say what ???? Home sales in Tampa Bay actually increased by 36% in October 2009 compared to October 2008! It was the best October in four years. All 19 Florida metro areas reported year-over-year gains. The reason was buyers purchasing distressed properties and a $8,000 first-time buyer tax credit.

Cancer Sticks Cigarettes sales are down 27% in Florida thanks to a new $1-per pack tax that was designed to balance the budget and cut down smoking. However, the state didn’t lose revenue as they added a surcharge on each pack that went into effect July 1. The funds from the tax helps fund Medicaid ... so in a way smoking is helping Florida’s older residents.

Bitter sweet Everything isn’t so sweet in the chocolate candy world as Kraft is attempting a $16.5-billion hostile takeover of UK candy giant Cadbury. However, Hersey may step in and offer $17-billion for the company. This has been an ongoing battle for over a year and hopefully it will be concluded in the near future.

walmart has it all! WalMart sells everything .... I mean everything! Last month, the retail giant started selling coffins. That’s right, when you die, your family can now go to the neighborhood WalMart and order your casket. The company is said, “There is so much financial abuse done by funeral homes, we want to help people in their time of need when they are not in their best negotiating position. People trust WalMart as we supply quality merchandise at affordable prices ... no matter what the item.”

I would like to start this by saying “MERRY CHRISTMAS” TO EVERYONE! This finds me coming off of a very busy month. There are so many bike nights and events that you can now choose where you wanna be! I would love to write about all of them that I have been on in the past month but space is limited. Starting with S.W Abate celebrating their 29th year with a ole bike and car show. It was a great time and well attended. Then we participated in the 9th Annual March of Dimes “Bikers for Babies” this was a three day event that offered a lot of fun at Harley Davidson of Fort Myers providing the space for the event. This included a bike show sponsored by Ronin MC, a Miss Bikers For Babies and of course the ‘BIG KAHUNA BED RACE”. It was one great week-end and I’m already looking forward to doing it all over again! Chrome Diva’s did their annual “Fall into Christmas” and let me tell you these women know how to brighten someone holiday season with the money they raised ..Nov.15th found us doing the poker run sponsored by Bob “Smitty” and the Lee County Defenders. This was to benefit the “Harry Chaplin Food Bank”.These guys did a awesome job and I hope they make this a annual event. There were vendors, a car wash, great items on the silent auction and they even auctioned a dog and a older model Lincoln! Our own Lee County Sheriff Mike Scott even took the time to support these guy’s efforts! Way to go,Helmet and all! HAVE A SAFE HOLIDAY! DONTA

When Fran Haasch asked me If I would like to go to the Playboy Mansion Charity Benefit on Halloween I jumped up and said, HECK YEA!!! This was a great trip to LA with a fun group of people. Fran, Rhett, Kyle, John, Ron and Debi were a fun group of people to hang out with. I got there on Friday and walked down to Rodeo Drive from my hotel, then grabbed a cab and met everyone at Eagle Motorcycle Rentals to pick up our bikes for the Charity Ride Saturday morning. There were around 40 - 50 of us that rode for the Wounded Warriors Foundation that started at Kodak Theater on Hollywood Blvd. We rode up the PCH (Pacific Coast Highway) and through a pass to a place call Abuletias (Grandparents in Spanish) for a feast! From there we rode back to the city and looked for a way to the HOLLYWOOD sign, which we never found... We dropped the bikes back off and headed to our respective hotel rooms to get ready for the Playboy Party. The party was insane with every kind of costume imaginable from pirates to girls only dressed in paint. Hef's Cabana was overly crowded all night long and getting a picture was close to impossible, but Rhett managed to get a good one! I slipped away from the crowds for a little bit and checked out the haunted house and haunted forest. I was glad to be invited and be a part of this great charity event with Fran, Rhett and everyone else that joined. I am looking forward to next year as I already have a new costume in mind... PS: THE GROTTO IS AWESOME!!!! That's all I am saying :) TONY C

Full Throttle Magazine

I want to start by wishing everyone a very Marry Christmas. This is the greatest time of the year. I love it when the weather cools. Now everyone will have all their Christmas lights up. It seems to me everybody is in a little better mood. With all the toy runs and parties, let’s not forget the reason for the season. It’s all about Jesus, our Lord and savior. I also hope you all have a good new year. With the New Year here, things are starting to look up I think. Our economy is going start getting better and hopefully we can all start seeing some brighter times ahead of us. I for one, want to thank all of you for helping me get by the last year. I had a lot of health problem but with your support and the hands of the good Lord, I’m good to go and I hope I can make a better Full Throttle Magazine for all our Daytona readers. If you need help with any events or adds just drop mea line 386-299-9364. peewee@ floridafullthrottle.com Till Next Time RIDE SOBER & SAFE PEEWEE
