Happy Holidays from Full Throttle to you and your family! Wow ... did 2010 fly by or what? It’s really hard to believe that Christmas and New Years Eve is all ready here. Not that I’m complaining, 2010 kinda sucked financially and I am happy that it is now in the rear view mirror. I honestly feel that the worst is over and I am looking forward to 2011 with excitement and optimism! I would like to invite you to join Full Throttle and local Pinellas County Law Enforcement for the Holiday Sharing Fund Christmas Party that will take place on Sunday afternoon December 5. The location is Niko’s Restaurant, 3705 Tampa Road in Oldsmar ... directly behind Chili’s on the corner of Tampa Road and Forest Lakes Drive. The fun starts at noon and goes till 5:00 pm. There will be numerous vendors, bouncy houses, Sponge Bob Squarepants, face painters, the wheel of prizes and kids can get their photo taken with Santa! Live music will be provided by The Dive Bar Stalkers and Preachers Cycle Promotions will host a multi-class bike show. 100% of the money raised will go to the Holiday Sharing Fund and that money will stay in the Oldsmar / Safety Harbor / Pal Harbor area. Please make plans to join us! Our annual Teddy Bear / Toy Run from Tampa Harley-Davidson to St.Joesph’s Hospital will be on Sunday December 18. Please brings $10 and a new, unwrapped toy. Registration starts at 10:00 am and kickstands are up at noon. We will convoy directly to the hospital and we will be able to meet the children and their parents. This is a fantastic ride and a great way to help injured and sick kids that are in the hospital. The run is sponsored by Tampa H-D and Attorney Fran Haasch. I sincerely hope you all have a safe and happy holiday season. I also want to wish my girl Dawn a very happy birthday. Please party responsibly on New Years and don’t drink and drive. Happy Holidays !!!

Welcome to the Holiday Season!!! Toy Runs, Benefits, Food Drives and all the great events that make our motorcycle community the greatest bunch of people you can find! Just think about it, can you imaging being a kid, sick in a bed in the hospital, then all of the sudden you hear 200-300 motorcycle roaring and revving into the driveway. Then you see the biggest meanest looking biker get off his bike with a Barbie in one hand and a pink teddy bear in the other. It is a beautiful sight! That is what you will find at our Full Throttle Teddy Bear and Toy Run on December 18th. Starts at Tampa H-D leaves at 12noon, a few min ride to the hospital, hang out for 15-30 minutes, then go on with the rest of your day. By 1pm you will be done and ready to head out to your next event. See you on December 18th at Tampa Harley-Davidson on Dale Mabry. YES, we know times are tough and our economy pretty much sucks! But not advertising your business is the worst thing you can do right now. Full Throttle has great special and will work with your budget no matter how small it is. They way I see it for example, do you have a tooth ache every month? Of course not, but when you do you go looking for a dentist or place to get it fixed. If you are a dentist, should you only advertise your business around HALLOWEEN? See what I mean! Call Full Throttle Magazine today (813-814-1424) and we can get you on a schedule for advertising 1 month at a time or a year contract with a special pricing structure. We’ve got great designers, and if you purchase an ad, we want you to know that the ad design is always FREE OF CHARGE! (psst…we can also make you flyers, banners, posters, business cards and any other print advertising you need) Full Throttle is always looking for sales people to help bring new business and handle the business we already have. If you are a biker, have lots of friends, have a little spare time, can use a pen, maybe some computer skills like web savy and can check your e-mail, then you are the person for us! Become a local celebrity and be part of the biggest and best motorcycle magazine around! COME JOIN THE F.T.M. ARMY!!! We are looking forward to the Expo in January at Quaker Steak and Lube. If you have any questions about the Expo, ideas you would like to see or just want to make a comment about it, please feel free to call me anytime. My cell number is always in the magazine. Two HUGE (120X60) tents will be set up, climate controlled for your comfort! Millions of dollars of custom motorcycles fighting for a big PayDay! Vendors all over the place, great bands, good food, cold beer, great bartenders ;) why would you want to be anywhere else on January 28-30th, 2011 – SEE YOU AT THE EXPO!

You can be born to do anything…….BUT LIVE LIFE FULL THROTTLE!!!

Here it is December already and as we look back at 2010, so much has been done for the community by the Diva Angels Organization along with help from the Biker Community. We want to thank Fran Haasch & Rhett for donating the motorcycle, all the individual’s who bought raffle tickets, and Fred & Mary Lang for donating their tip’s from the Tackley’s event all for ‘Faces of Courage’. The Diva Angel’s live by our Mission Statement: “To share in the love of biking and develop a special bond and camaraderie that is solely unique to women. Assist in empowering and enabling other women to ride and help them experience the joy that biking brings. Promote safety and responsible driving and set a good example in the community. Help others who are less fortunate than us through fundraising events. And never, ever forget the fact that WE ARE HERE TO HAVE FUN AND RIDE!!!! November was a busy month for the Tampa Bay Chapter, volunteering at the Ribfest and then following up with Pajama Drive for Foster Children. We want to thank EVERYONE in the community as well as Fran Haasch, Full-Throttle, Quaker Steak & Lube & Niko’s Restaurant for helping us make the Pajama Drive such a wonderful success…. It was really cool watching the bikers ride up to Quaker Steak & Lube with pajama’s in tow to drop them off at our tent. Thank You for helping us be successful!!!

The Harley Davidson XA 750 ...... Evel Knievel .......and Imitators They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery you hear that a lot. And it's true my friends. If something is truly outstanding , sells more or is truly an amazing achivement it gets copied. Music and writing styles are plagiarized . Industries wait decades for patents to expire in order to duplicate a product when no better can be invented.Great machines are a favorite item to be imitated. And this brings me to one very collectable motorcycle I still seek to add to my collection, to ride to bike night, to sit and marvel at and of course to preserve for the future. And you my 56 loyal readers (I must have pissed a few off in my last ramble!) should sit down, for it is an American built Harley Davidson ! The one and only Harley that I have every search engine set to, all auction houses on alert and low friends looking in dark places. You see the Harley I seek was built when the USA had just entered World War II and it is said only 1010 of these experimental bikes were built for testing and ironically none would ever see service in our war effort. According to collectors and historians there are only 60 -300 complete units still in existence today worldwide. It's an amazingly rare and special Harley. In the war most of the American bikes were regulated to dispatch and courier work. Indian would produce 33,000 bikes and Harley Davidson 70,000 (depending who you read) and the Achilles Heel of both brands would

be overheating and chain/ sprocket wear especially in the North African front in the sand against Rommel. Harley Davidson supplied both America and its allies with motorcycles during World War II. This both helped the country and the company to survive.

Mr. 494

Harley built a variety of motorcycles during the war. The WLA was its most produced. A Navy version of the model U for Shore Patrol use and an XS for use with a side car. And of the 70,000 WLA bikes built, 1/3 sold to England and Russia as part of the "Lend-lease" agreement with both our allies. After the war, British WLA's in good condition were repainted and sold in England and many are still in use there today. It would be General George S. Patton who upon landing the job of taking North Africa in 1942 would see how the Germans were using their motorcycle , the BMW R75 as a tactical weapon. Guns mounted on side cars, towing artillery guns, climbing up hills in battle and having seemingly low attrition rates and minimal maintenance . He told high command of this and what he desired. After sending captured German plans and a handful of actual BMW R75s' to Milwaukee, the Army gave them one order-duplicate this motorcycle and they did, bolt for bolt and nut for nut only converting M.M. specs to inches. This my happy campers became the Harley Davidson XA 750. The designation being Experimental Army. Harley would build

this copy of a well developed German military bike to the US Army's orders and would construct 1,010 of these R75 clones. They would compete against Indian who would build 1000(Indian model 841) 750cc shaft drive bikes for testing but base it on a 90 degree V twin which Moto Guzzi would use on its line of bikes starting in the 1960's. The most important advances over the already in service WLA would be in the cooling and in keeping dust and the desert sand out of the chain and all its associated wear, servicing and adjustment problems by substituting the chain with a shaft drive. The opposed twin engine not only lowers the center of gravity of the machine but with its heads extended into the airstream oil temperatures ran 100 degrees less than in the WLA V twin. The rear cylinder in the WLA ran much hotter than that due to very limited airflow. Also ground clearance in the XA would be increased by 2 inches. The Harley Davidson would never see service but it would introduce many firsts to the Harley Davidson Motor Co. The hand clutch, foot shifter ( 1st. HD production model would see this in 1952). The first sealed beam headlight on a motorcycle. A centrifugal distributor (1st. HD production model would see this in 1965) rear plunger suspension ( 1st. HD production model that would have a rear suspension would be the K model in 1952). The Harley Davidson XA would have two 2.2 gallon fuel tanks, one tank to get ya there, one to get you back. A good idea in the desert and in war where fuel supplies were scarce and sporadic.

The throttle as ordered by the Army was on your left handlebar so you could shoot your weapon with your right. It had 14 M.M. spark plugs and four speeds with a foot shifter and hand clutch. The bike was one of the earliest and the only Harley to have a wet sump oil system instead of an oil tank.Remember kids this was all Harley built with American steel and rubber but an exact replica of German engineering. What was to be Harley Davidson's next generation war motorcycle was to never be, designed at first for desert use, the North Africa campaign was going the Allies way without it. The 1010 HD XAs' that cost $1,000.00 a copy to produce would be sold at war surplus for under 1/2 that. You see while during testing and trials of both the experimental bikes by HD and Indian a new vehicle that could go through anything, didn't tip over and required very little training to operate would emerge. At a cost of $648 a copy it was very appealing to Uncle Sam.

It would be called the "JEEP" and such ended one of the most advanced ground breaking Harleys' ever built, and you can also blame the Jeep for the reason military motorcycles of any kind fell out of favor during World War II with the allied forces. So Harley produced a bike that wouldn't contain most of these advancements again untill the mid 50"s, many

years after they would imitate the BMW R75. This my motorcycle loving readers, is why the XA 750 is a bike that's on my collectors radar, for even though it is an imitation, it was built with the idea of saving our brave soldiers lives, to help Patton in North Africa and even though it was not designed in Milwaukee it was built, assembled and tested there , right where the Sportster or Road King you have now was built, in the greatest country ever the USA. I think I'm going to stay on the imitation and Harley Davidson theme in this ramble and go to a guy who was imitated, copied, plagiarized and turned into action figures. A man who I have admired been awed by as a

kid and sometimes laughed with. Later in life he was completely ok with being imitated. He was Robert Craig Knievel and he and his Harley XR 750 would fly further and over more items than any man of his era. Knievel an American icon died 3 years ago this last day in November. So what makes this man an icon? He was the first man to do what he did, on the scale that he did. All who followed were merely imitators. He passed away at 69 years old a young age by today's standards. But not so young when you consider the punishment he put his body through for so many years. Named Evel from a stint in jail for stealing hubcaps as a boy, he would become the most imitated and copied " Showman Car Jumper" of all time and lay the foundation for so much of what the motorcycle stunt world is today. Even though many of his stunts were not successful, he was a master

performer and a marketing genius. "God take care of me, here I come" Evel spoke this same prayer to himself before every jump, be it over cars, fountains or canyons. Not knowing whether he would live or die on any given jump. Boxing great Muhammed Ali once jokingly billed Evel as the "white Muhammed Ali". He's often been compared to a modern day P.T.Barnum for his over the top promotion, story telling and total captivation of his audience . Knievel's first jump ever was over a crate of rattlesnakes and two mountain lions. A total distance of 20 feet he was using a 350cc Honda. He would then use a 750cc Norton between 1966 and 1967. Evel then began using the Triumph Bonneville T120 (650cc) and this would be the bike he would crash on at the New Year's Eve Ceasers Palace Jump (151 ft.). In 69-70 he would use the Laverda American Eagle 750, but in December of 1970 Evel would switch to the brand that he would forever be associated with, Harley-Davidson. He would jump the XR 750 until 1977. It would also be this year that Harley Davidson would withdraw their sponsorship after Knievel was convicted of assault. He was a man known for the value of his word and he said this often kept him in a jump that he knew was questionable or had low probabilities of success. His nationally televised jumps including his 1974 attempt to jump the Snake River Canyon represent four of the top twenty most watched ABC's Wide World of Sports shows ever. Other notable jumps he made , in 1971 he cleared 19 cars,1974 he sailed over 13 Mack trucks and in 1975 he cleared 13 London busses.

"When you gave your word to somebody that you are going to do something, you've got to do it, a man does not go back on his word," he said. Although he was a heavy drinker during his early life, he would share anti-drug messages to adults and children before each of his stunts. He was adamantly against drug use and used his fame to try and educate all. He died in Clearwater, Fla. on November 30, 2007. He had been suffering from diabetes and a lung condition for many years, and I would guess from the abuse and record 37 broken bones he had aquired over the years. It has been written that Knievel was actually breaking the metal plates that were repairing his broken bones. In one of his last interviews with Maxim Magazine he said, "You can't ask a guy like me why I perform. I really wanted to fly through the air. I was a daredevil, a performer. I loved the thrill, the money, the whole macho thing. All those things made me Evel Knievel!"

into the lucrative cruiser market .After 6 years of litigation and with no end in sight Harley Davidson would withdraw their application. You know my readers of history its interesting as I wrote this article about great items, amazing engineering and people who were copied due to their uniqeness and bravado I came upon a quote from Evel Knievel that I thought we all may want to imitate or copy. This came from a man whos handshake and his word were his bond or as he put it his "code" to live by. You know it seems to me that in this world we live in now we sure could use some more "imitators" of this long gone trait where a person's word meant something. Mr Knievel said "You come to a point in your life where you really don't care what people think about you..................you just care what you think about yourself". MR "Almost" 500

He added "Sure I was scared. You gotta be an ass not to be scared, but I beat the hell out of death". He was buried in his hometown of Butte, Montana after a eulogy by friend and actor Matthew Mc Conaughey who said "He's forever in flight now. He doesn't have to come back down" And while many have imitated and gone further and jumped more cars, nobody did it with the flair, the guts and the passion of Robert Craig Knievel . Well, my wonderful readers not only are great bikes imitated such as the BMW R75 or amazing and daring feats done by extraordinary people, but even sounds are imitated, copied or engineered. And no better case of this was more in the news than when Harley-Davidson tried to patent the sound of their distinguishing engine exhaust noise. It was a famous "sound trademark" case as Harley Davidson tried to register as a trademark the sound of their V-twin. On Feb. 1st. 1994 the company filed its application with the following description, "The mark consists of the exhaust sound of the applicant's motorcycles produced by a V twin common crank pin motorcycle engine when the goods are in use ". Nine of Harleys competitors filed oppositions against the application, arguing that cruiser style motorcycles of various brands use the same V twin engine which produces the same sound. They knew the Harley sound was special and what the buyers wanted if they were to break

P.S. My Friends----- I would like to say "MERRY CHRISTMAS" and "Happy Holidays" to all my readers.Go have some adventures and please spend as much time as you can with friends and family because that's what is important, we need to take the focus off the gifts and over the top decorations and get back to what the holidays are truly about. Have some nice parties and make a few ornaments for your tree, for if history has taught us anything its that money and gifts cannot gain us any more time to spend with those we love. It saddens me to tell you Carl Camacho was hit on his bike Halloween night and did not survive. He worked in Tampa Bay at the ship yard and part time for Thunder Bay Ray’s bike shop in Tampa for many years. He will be missed at the Webster Swap Meet. He usually set up at the south east corner as a matter of fact he will be missed by many people. RIP Carl I went to Brandon H-D swap meet put on by HOG and a big sale by Brandon H-D. It was great as always. I met a group of ladies call the calendar girls, they are quite colorful be sure to check out their website www.calendargirlsflorda.com. They are a dance team of ladies over 50 with over 1000 years of experience! This month I have a pic of me and another guy, it usually is girls but this guy is so special as he is a teenage friend. As a matter of fact he is the only left that I know of our age as we are pushing 80 years. I haven’t seen him in 40 years it was a pleasure to see him and talk about old times. It is a wonder we made it this long as some of the things we used to get into. It was good seeing you Eddie Scott See you soon Joyce

Triumph Demo Days was a lot of fun. On Saturday they had a band, vendors, food and some great motorcycles to ride for the public. I got a chance to test out the Speed Triple and the Daytona which are both amazing machines to ride. Donny and his entire staff did a great job leading the rides around town. Besides all the other stuff that was happening, Winghouse was there serving wings, a few girls were doing a bikini bike wash and Attorney Fran Haasch donated a TV to give-a-way! It was a great time and now we can't wait for the Victory Demo Days December 10th and 11th, SEE YOU THERE!!!

Bill and Judy Lawson hosted and set up the FIRST Toy Run of the season on November 7th. They had a great turn out of around 250-300 riders and collected a ton of toys for needy children. They invited Full Throttle out to help lead the ride in the flame truck! The ride went through Tarpon Springs, through Fred Howard Park and ended at Craig Park on the Bayou. At the end was food, drinks, live music by Blackwater Jack and headlined by The Greg Billings Band. Congrats on a great ride and a good start to the holiday season.

The Leigh Nolan poker run has been going on for quite some time. Full Throttle helped start this event in the beginning with Charlie and his family for his daughter whom the event is named after. The money raised on this ride goes to UPARC. They had a ton of sweet raffle baskets with some awesome prizes from Yungling and other sponsors. We also ran into Diane Pearson and Attorney Brad Souders at the event. The day was beautiful and everyone seemed to have a great time on the run. Congrats and we are looking forward to this event again next year.

There are very few events that can pack ‘em in like Palm Harbor Bike Fest! The streets in downtown Palm Harbor were over-flowing with people and once again this event proved to be a huge success! PHBF featured a toy run that had radio personality “Uncle Fester” as Grand Marshall, a giant car show, a multi-class bike show hosted by Full Throttle Magazine and Preachers Cycle Promotions, multiple vendors, live music by The Defendants and The Greg Billings Band, emcee Radical Randy and the fantastic businesses that make up this great community in northern Pinellas County Area bars and restaurants were packed with people and the streets became a huge “mass of humanity” when The Greg Billings Band started playing! As always, the PHBF was a great event. Here are a few photos and if you want to see more, check out www.FloridaFullThrottle.com. by Paul Allen

Full Throttle 55 It was a beautiful day and Full Throttle’s 14th Anniversary Party was a huge success! Hundreds of motorcycles invaded Grass Flats on Sunday November 21 to help the FT staff celebrate. Live music was provided by The Sunzabeaches, the slow race was once again won by “Slow Race King Tom” and Peg Cushman not only won the 50/50 drawing, she also won the liquor basket! Attorney Fran Haasch donated an i-pod that was won by Bruce Kreutzer, a blue ray player that was won by Lee Ann Miller and a flat screen television that was won by Terry Blackenship. The bike show had multiple class winners and Bob DeMoss took home the “Best in Show” trophy. One of the afternoon’s highlights was the wet t-shirt contest that had the crowd screaming and yelling! Full Throttle would like to thank everybody who participated in our Anniversary Party and we want to especially thank Grass Flats, Brothers Powder Coating, St.Pete Powersports and Attorney Fran Haasch for making it such a great event. If number fourteen was this good .... I can’t wait until next year!

The Full Throttle Family

Full Throttle 56 Fran Haasch is an amazing person and a huge influence in the motorcycle community. She has been there for bikers who need her in their time of need! If you are in an accident, Fran is the person to call! They take great care of their clients and do everything they can for you when you need it the most. Fran celebrated her anniversary with 3 great days of parties and by giving great gifts and prizes back to the community like iPods, TV’s and GPS systems. At their own anniversary they even took the time to thank all of the media outlets that have helped them get to where they are today including Full Throttle Magazine which she has been a part of for the longest out of any of them. I am happy to be part of the team with Fran, Rhett, Michelle and Desire at the many events they go to on a regular basis. CONGRATULATIONS on 10 great years helping the motorcycle community and we wish you numerous more years to come, from Full Throttle Magazine. On a special note from Editor Tony C. – I am glad to have Fran as part of Full Throttle Magazine, but I am happier to consider you and your family friends first!

We were honored that Full Throttle Magazine and Preachers Cycle Promotions were contacted by Tracy Neville and Mark Dayton from the Exchange Club to run the Bike Show this year at the Ribfest at Vinoy Park. Our businesses were brought in to bring the bike show to the next level. In year's past it was more like a parking lot rather then a bike show. This year we brought in around 50 of the top bikes in the area for the people to see and enjoy. Area 51, the Geisha Bike and a few of Robert Demoss’s antique collection were just a few of the eye catching bikes we had on display. We only had until 11am Sunday morning to get bikes in the event so it kind of limited the amount of bikes we had in the show, but the bikes we did have were AMAZING!!!! Donny & his wife Tabitha from St. Pete Powersports were there as the Bike Show Sponsors and we had a fantastic time! Full Throttle had a great time at this event and we are really looking forward to doing it again next year! See you there in 2011! Tony C

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Helmet Use Is NOT the Problem in Florida… Deland, FL, November 18, 2010 – Motorcyclists have finally made the Ten Most Wanted list. Not by the FBI, but by the NTSB, the National Transportation Safety Board. The NTSB is now calling for all states to adopt a mandatory helmet law, even though all current data suggests that the wearing of a helmet is NOT as major a determining statistic on saving motorcyclists’ lives as once thought. In 2000, ABATE of Florida, Inc. successfully lobbied to have the mandatory helmet law in Florida repealed. Although many have publicly cried out saying that motorcycle deaths have been on the rise ever since the helmet repeal, the government’s own statistics simply do not support this claim. According to Florida’s Department of Highway Safety & Motor Vehicles’ report Traffic Safety Facts, October 2010: Motorcycles, since 2000 motorcycle registrations have risen by over 102%. With two exceptions, each year since then motorcycle registrations and related fatalities have been on the increase, but within 1% of each other when compared side-by-side. Although any death is never good news, statistically speaking this can be read to mean that the rise in the reported fatalities may be attributed to the rise in motorcycle registrations. One of the reported exceptions is the year 2009, where motorcycle registrations increased 102.4% since 2001, but fatalities only increased 63.4% in the same time frame. That same year, motorcycle fatalities were down 16% nationwide and over 25% in Florida since the previous year. In addition, the Florida DHSMV’s Traffic Crash Statistics Report 2009 reported that in 2009, over 53% of all motorcyclists killed were wearing a helmet. With the above facts, there is no logic for a push to require helmet use. The ten-year rise in deaths can be directly attributed to the rise in motorcycle registrations. Since 2004, the State of Florida has reported that the majority of motorcycle drivers and passengers in fatal crashes have been wearing the optional safety helmet. Although motorcycle helmets may offer limited defensive measures when involved in a headtrauma accident, these numbers strongly suggest that a helmet is not the magic safety device many want them to be. ABATE of Florida, Inc. asks Legislators to consider this fact: in Florida 61% of the motor vehicle vs. motorcycle collisions were the fault of the motor vehicle. The most common reason given by the vehicle driver was that they never saw the motorcycle. Texting while driving, hands on the cell phone instead of the steering wheel, and almost insignificant punishments when hitting a motorcyclist are all the real reasons why motorcyclists in Florida are being killed. Florida now requires a motorcycle training program to receive a motorcycle endorsement on a driver’s license. The motorcyclists are being trained to ride safely and defensively. Helmets will not save more motorcyclists; educating the motoring public about the presence of bikes on the road and stronger motivations to drive a car or truck safely and legally should be the direction state and federal congresses take. The numbers are clear; most motorcyclists are doing their part. It’s now time for the rest of the motoring public to do theirs. ###

Bike Events Around Pasco Nature Coast

This time of year we have so many bike events to pick from. Up north they are already having snow. We have perfect riding weather. Nice temp in the day time. Light jacket for after the sun goes down. Skinnys Bar and Grill in Hudson at 13228 US Hwy 19, has a Bike Nite the 1st and 3rd Monday of each month sponsored by Wicked Choppers. Not only cold beer, cute women, DJ Patti with the games and music, they have some great food. Brewsky’s Bar and Grill in Port Richey is having a Grand Opening Party Dec. 4th. It’s an old biker bar (The PortHole) from way back with new ownership but still biker friendly. They also have food now. Big sandwich and a cold beer. Come on by Dec. 4th for fun, music, live entertainment, and drink specials. That’s at 5430 Treadway Dr. in Port Richey. I’ll see ya there. Something new is the every 2nd Friday Bike Nite at Di’s Pub in Port Richey. That’s going to be “The Pirate Bay Bar” soon, but it will still be at 6636 Ridge Road. Come and help kick off the new bike nite. Look for the announcement of another BIG BIKER PARTY FROM WICKED CHOPPERS. They had such a good

time with their grand opening party. They want to say thank you to all the bikers again. I should be recovered from the fi rst party to make the next one. Damn I’m getting old. I take a little longer to recover from each party now a days. Well, time to go, so. Till Next Time, Be Safe and Look out for the bad drivers out there. The Big “O”

TEXTING..THE GATEWAY DRUG A study done at Case Western Reserve University states that the number of text messages that a teenager sends each day relates to sexual activity. The study found that teens who text at least 120 times a day are nearly three-and-a-half times more likely to have had sex than teens who didn’t text that much. The study also said that texthappy teens are also more likely to have been in a fight, drink excessive alcohol, use illegal drugs and take medications without a prescription. The study also says that a significant number of teens that text this much have permissive or absent parents and that parents who monitor the number of texts are also monitoring other activities as well.

HONG KONG FEWY For those of you who think the minimum wage is too low, you could live in Hong Kong. The first-ever minimum wage was set in the country at a whopping $3.61 per hour!

GREAT HELMET CAM The GOPro HD Hero mini-video camera shoots HD video at 1,280 x 960 pixels and 30 frames per second. It is less than two inches tall and weighs less than six ounces! The lens can capture photos or video at an ultrawide, 170-degree angle! Yes, anybody can become James Bond and shoot anything, anytime, anywhere! The GoPro HD Hero 960 sells for $180. The Looxcie camera loops over your ear and is built into a Blurtooth headset and streams images wirelessly to Android telephones. The Looxcie records at a resolution of 480 x 320 pixels at 15 frames a second and sells for $199. Check these goodies out for a great X-Mas gift!

JUST A DROP IN THE BUCKET Tampa Bay area homes decreased in value an average of 9.1% last year. The average Tampa Bay home has a value of $115,700 according to the zillow.com tracking agency. Our area recorded the seventh biggest drop in the country as the national rate showed only a 4.3 per cent decline. Since the high point back in 2006, home values have declined 46.3% in Tampa Bay.

CAN’T TOUCH THIS Indonesian Information Minister Tifatul Sembiring is in hot water! The conservative Muslim shook Michelle Obama’s hand on her recent trip to Indonesia last month and now he has to explain his actions! You see, it is against Sembiring’s religion to touch a female if she is not related to him. SAY WHAT ???? You mean to tell me if a female was falling, Tifatul would not try to catch her or if a lady was hurt, he wouldn’t assit her? After he shook Mrs. Obama’s hand, hundreds of Indonesians are discussing his longstanding claim of acting as a good Muslim and restricting his contact with women. If you ask me, this has to be the stupidist religious rule I have ever heard of and I’m damn glad I’m not a Muslim.

BUT WHAT WAS THE A.P.R.? Think you had a bad mother growing up? Well, she was a saint compared to Stephanie Fleming of Bradenton. You see Mama Steph was arrested after she attempted to sell her eight-week-old son because she wanted to purchase a new car. The 22-year old ... with the assit of her own idotic mother .... attempted to sell the child for $75,000. The price was negotiated down to $30,000 by FDLE agents who arrested Mommy Dearest last month.

BIG BROTHER IS WATCHING Red light cameras produced $3.9-million of income to Hillsborough County since they were installed last year. The cost of a red-light ticket is $158 and is broken down this way: the state Department of Revenue gets $70, the State Department of Health Administration Trust Fund receives $10, the Brain and Spinal Cord Injury Trust Fund gets $3 and Hillsbouough County keeps the $75 that is left. The number of crashes with serious injuries have decreased since the cameras were installed. Look for additional cameras to be added and remember ... Big Brother is Watching You!
