Blue 47 .... Red 82 .... Hut .... Hut .... Hut .... Yes, football season is upon us and I am revved up! I love the month of September as the weather gets a bit cooler, the everyday afternoon thundershowers stop, the kids go back to school and it’s a sports junkie best time of the year! Not only does football start, but so does pre-season hockey and basketball. You also have Major League Baseball playoffs and if you are a soccer fan, Team USA has four games scheduled ... wow! I think the 2009 football season here in Tampa Bay will be a difficult one as I just don’t think the Bucs have the team to win many games for new head coach Raheem Morris. There are just too many questions that need to be answered ... who will be the starting QB, can the running backs stay healthy, can Michael Clayton catch a ball, was Antonio Bryant’s last year a fluke, can the defense replace Derrick Brooks, can Aqib Talib stay out of jail? Mix these in with one of the hardest schedules in the NFL and the Bucs will have a hard time winning 5 games this season (and I think I’m being generous with five victories). I sincerely hope I’m wrong but we’ll find out in three months. The Florida Gators are the favorites to win another NCAA title as Tim Tebow returns for his final year, but the SEC schedule is always difficult and the Gators will have to do more than just show up for games. The FSU Seminoles look to be improved as do the Miami Hurricanes. The USF Bulls have been hit with multiple injuries but it looks to be a down year for the Big East Conference and the Bulls could surprise. Don’t forget that September 11 is Patriot’s Day. On that day back in 2001, America was attacked and the way we live our normal day-to-day lives was changed. This is something that all American’s need to remember. Freedom isn’t free and we need to know that there are people in the world who hate our freedom and independence. Take a few moments on 9/11 to reflect and think about how great it is to live here in the USA! Have a great month and please don’t drink and ride. Happy birthday wishes go out to Pee Wee!

September is the beginning of our season here in Florida…That’s kind of funny to say but it really seems like it this year. There are events piling up almost every weekend from here on till almost the end of the year. I think the fact that August was such a rainy month, everyone is planning event before the Holiday season. Make sure you plan your weekend and try and make it to as many events as you can. Our Cruisin’ Calendar is updated daily online and most of the events are listed in the magazine as well. If you have an event and would like it listed, please send me an e-mail and I will do my best to get it online that day! September has tons of events you will see us at including Zephyrhills Music and Motorcycles, Gear Fest, Petersons Key West Poker Run and The Amvic Bike Fest with many others planned. When you see our tents, make sure you stop by as we always have flyers, magazines and other goodies that are always free! If you would like us to hand out your info at our booths, be sure to contact me and we will help you out the best we can! BIKETOBERFEST is next month (OCT 15-18, 2009) and we are looking for sponsors again this year. Full Throttle sets up multiple tents around Daytona and Ormond Beach handing out magazine and all types of goodies. We are looking for $500 sponsors who would like us to hand out their promotional items to the thousands of bikers who pass by our booths every day of Biketoberfest. For $500 you get your business logo on a full page ad in the Oct. and Nov. issues, us handing out your info at our multiple booths and you will be listed in the recap we do in the magazine. All you have to do is supply us with whatever promotional items you would like us to hand out and the minimal sponsorship fee, we will handle the rest. If you have any questions please feel free to call or e-mail me at any time. The sponsorship dollars go directly to helping us print the thousands of extra magazine we will need during Biketoberfest. Keep an eye out for our new project bike, “Atilla the Fucati” that Full Throttle Magazine, Rev. Jim from Preachers Hot Rod Cycle Design and Bob Demoss (Mr. 300) are working on. We found a 748R Ducati and we will be doing some awesome stuff to it. It will definitely catch your eye when you see it. Special thanks to the people who are already stepping up to help us out with this project bike, Euro Cycles of Tampa Bay, Stitch on Time, Henry’s Polishing and many others. If you would like to help us out and get some recognition in the magazine, contact me and we’ll sit down and talk. I would like to say Happy Birthday to a few people including Bob Demoss & his mother, who makes the best cupcakes in the world, and the mother of my children Kandice. I hope to see you all at Quaker Steak and Brandon and Tampa Harley for their bike nights, I am always at those three great events. Please don’t drink and ride and I will see you soon!

October 9, 2008 – The United States Attorney’s office filed an indictment in United States District Court for the Western District of California in Los Angeles. Indicted were 79 members of the Mongols Motorcycle Club. Charges included murder, attempted murder, drug trafficking and money laundering. (U. S. District Court for the Central District of California, U. S. Ruben Cavazos, et al., No. 08-CR-1201). October 22, 2008 – The Federal Court ordered that the trademark of the Mongols could not be sold to anyone else, and that the Mongols could do nothing to decrease the market value of the trademark. The Court then ordered seizure of the Mongols logo trademark. Further, the Court ordered, that not only the defendants, but their fellow club members, family and friends, must surrender all property bearing the Mongols trademark, and that the government could seize that property. This includes clothing, patches, motor vehicles, motorcycles, merchandise and any other items bearing the Mongols logo trademark. In the case against the Mongols, property is being seized from the people who were not even indicted. Several hundred other Mongols

have had property confiscated, or are subject to having their property confiscated. Friends and family of club members face seizure of their property. March 10, 2009 – The ACLU files a separate civil suit on behalf of an unindicted member of the Mongols Motorcycle Club, Ramon Rivera, seeking an injunction to prevent seizure of property owned by himself, but does not include all other unindicted members of the Mongols Motorcycle Club (Ramon Rivera v. Ronnie A. Carter, ATF, et al., U. S. District Court for the Southern District of California, No. 09 CV 0480, which was transferred to the Central District of California, No. 09 CV 2435). July 6, 2009 – The Court rules that the trademark of the Mongols is non-forfeitable, and will not be forfeited. The reason is that the named criminal defendants did not own the trademarks, none of the members of the Mongols own any or all of the trademarks, and the trademarks are owned by the Mongols Motorcycle Club, which has not been indicted. July 31, 2009- The same Judge who has the criminal case, now rules on the requested injunction by the ACLU in the civil case. She

GRANTS the injunction, which orders the government to not seize property from Ramon Rivera, but does not directly address the property of the unindicted members of the Mongols Motorcycle Club. August 6, 2009 – In the criminal case, the Court refused to enter a preliminary Order of Forfeiture of the Mongols trademarks, and makes reference to her Order of July 31, 2009 in the ACLU civil case. August 31, 2009 – The Court’s deadline for receiving briefs concerning the return of the property seized from the unindicted members of the Mongols. The Criminal Forfeiture Order is still in force. It is unclear how long that Order will stay in effect after the Court rules on the briefs due by August 31, 2009. It may be rescinded in whole, or it may be modified only to include those defendants who pled guilty or were found guilty. Any Mongol who is convicted will most likely appeal that conviction. Be smart, educated and Trust No One when it comes to your rights (except me of course), Jerry T.

DO MOTORCYCLES DREAM???

Well, it was one of those days this past Sunday. I was suffering from what a friend calls “option paralysis” I’m told its a condition caused by having so many things to do you can’t focus on any one project at hand. So there I sat on my chair looking at my rows of vintage bikes just sitting there, like enlightened friends, stress free and at peace and I wondered can my motorcycles have an empathy for me as I do for them, if thats truly possible?Unlike the average person my tendency is to express my personal philosophy’s and spiritual outlook through vintage machinery . I have been re-reading Phillip H. Dicks 1968 book “Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep” and I can’t help but wonder if there is some sort of transference or Karma from the lives and interactions and events my machine has touched? No I don’t truly think it possesses consciousness or what some would say is a soul, although some bike owners are sure they do. But as I sat there in deep thought it occurred to me,these mechanical icons with the proper care and devoted curators, that these motorcycles could be immortal looking basically as they did when they were built, but we turning older and grayer un-till we hand them off to a new generation. Maybe that's why I collect these bikes , my strategy of having some enduring legacy. The Egyptians left the great pyramids. The English castles, The Rapanui the heads of Easter Island. But it also seems these enduring monuments are of a spiritual and mystical nature of which the engineering, the planning, the builders and the users of these monoliths and megaliths, well they made them that with their transference, their spirit, their will .So if stone, rock and mortar can possess this supposed ability, this energy, can steel and aluminum? My parents said you could find what you are looking for sitting on the end of a dock, it didn’t have to be organized it can be personal. And you know I seem to turn to these bikes in the time of sadness, celebration or dilemma . Sometimes people will ask me just what I see when I just sit and reflect on my old bikes, as if I see some vision, some aurora reflected in them . Take my 1946 Moto Guzzi Superalce. As I look at this motorbike a true relic of the 30’s and 40’s I wonder if any of the men who hand built this motorbike in Mandello del lario, Italy, just months after World War Two, men trying to rebuild their towns and their country ,are still alive? How did this military bike make it to America? Who? Why? What role did this bike serve? A courier bike between bases, spy missions, night curfew patrols? How many riders and lives has it interacted with? How many mechanics, owners, and troops have bled on the Guzzi parts and loved it or cursed at it ! Put their boot to the kick lever and gone somewhere, everywhere ! I think of the Superalce I found in a barn in Alma, Arkansas through a friend of a friend of a friend who knew of it. Of the amazing wife of the late Kelly Hinegardner, Norma who knew I should have this bike, and though I never met Kelly I feel I have through his marks on this bike, and his personal Moto Guzzi book collection with notations in his own handwriting. Has this bike collected a “feeling”? A part of all who have been included in its 63 years of being ? And does it absorb the energy from all the children, the oldtimers, the curious who stop and gaze at the old Guzzi in the shows or parking lots? Does it hear the stories I have been told, mere feet from its frame from World War Two veterans that have told me first person of seeing the Alces in the North African theater. And of their desire to liberate these bikes for allied use,due to their advanced suspension and hill climbing ability. I look at my 60”s and 70’s era BMW’s and Guzzi's, Yamaha's and Suzuki's made after and during the Vietnam War, during a fuel crisis sweeping America, during a great change in motorcycling and America. I wonder if my bikes lead to a re-connection of a loved one, cleared the head of someone still dealing with the war, or took a son or daughter off on a fuel saving trip. Did my 1974 LAPD police bike make its mark, protect and serve? What donut shops and officers did it experience? How many pursuits was this Guzzi in , did it save lives, work undercover, escort dignitaries , how many officers rode this bike and what did it see in civilian life? It seems my bikes have become my connection, my version of spiritual enlightenment and I think its because of the disconnection from my reality and mortality they give me. When I’m on the

vintage bike, this “collective soul ride” is going on. The symphony of ancient machinery , the focus of me navigating the road, of me against the cars and obstacles in my path wanting to stop me, most wanting to inflict harm on me and my bike and then freedom, the open road, the air, the wind and friends along the way isn’t that what religion and spirituality are about in a simple form? Peril weather real or imagined has an amazing way of making the mind focus and cleaning it of unimportant and trivial matters. And all the owners from the first one that bought the bike home when it was a day old, to me now, we’ve all polished the same parts, sat on the same seat, admired it sitting there and had a bond with it , these are what get me through the rough spots, a loss and sometimes a gain. Which leads me to the book i read and a ride back from Plant City. I was on my old sidecar bike “Dutch”. It was dark thirty, it was raining as it often does on this run. My 35 year old Beemer never misses a beat, as reliable as the sunset. While running through the curves on route 92 at a proper speed of 55 mph the bike fouled its left plug, loss of rpm, drop down a couple gears and just around that sharp bend in the road were four very large tar covered timbers almost black in the rain, very avoidable in an antique sidecar rig at 30 mph , but what if ? Funny thing after avoiding the danger, I picked up a gear , the plug cleared and I was off. The bike never fouled a plug in 5 years, never did after that night on route 92. Was there transference was it object Karma, did “Dutch” want to survive and save me? Was it divine intervention? Was it intelligence in a primitive vintage form?Or just “luck”? What was Dutch thinking that rainy night on route 92 ? Kind of makes me wonder “what do motorcycles dream of?” Oh and by the way that old 1968 novel that got me thinking of “machine empathy”. Well, it became “Blade Runner” in 1982. Robert “Deckard” DeMoss MR 300 welcomes comments, ideas and pictures. Contact him at Mr300@floridafullthrottle.com. September is one of those times that we sit and think about what our fellow American’s have their families have lost. I want to given up for us and what there say Thank You to all of those families. I also want to think about the friends and family we have lost over the past…. "THANK YOU" to all who protect and serve! "YOU WILL NOT BE FORGOTTEN" to those we have lost! Till Next Month...Dew

Hello friends, I missed you last month! As we all know life gets a little crazy sometimes. On a sad note, July 14, 2009, Bradley Ruel of the Wrench passed away at the young age of 43. The Motorcycle Industry has lost an independent, imaginative inspiration. Brad will live on in the phenomenal motorcycles he has created, and will be sadly missed. Brad’s beautiful wife Karen was always by his side. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Then on July 30th, Bruce Rossmeyer, the owner of what is billed as the largest Harley-Davidson dealership in the world, was killed in Wyoming while riding to Sturgis, South Dakota. After a career in the automobile business, Rossmeyer presided over the largest chain of Harley dealerships in the world and each prominently featured his name. He went on to own 15 of them from Fort Lauderdale to Boston. Rossmeyer's empire revolved around the Florida biker capital of

Daytona Beach where he was also the developer of Destination Daytona. He, too will be sadly missed. On a lighter note, I did want to give a shout out to my dear friend Carl “Fat Louie” LeMay, of the Moose Riders, who is recovering from a motorcycle accident last month. Feel better my friend! I know your road to recovery will be a long one; I just want to let you and Becky know, that I’m here for you and the girls!!! Sadly, the very next day, my friend Cristi Mapp was riding with a group of friends, and her dear friend Julie Stann was involved in a serious MC accident. Many hearts go out to you Julie, aka Lady Long Legs! We thank the good Lord for keeping you with us pray for comfort while you're healing. You will be with us, heart and soul, on every ride! WE LOVE YOU BABY GIRL…Love Cristi! Please be safe out there, tomorrow is never promised, Until next time.

Refurbished computer systems are being provided to Bay area families who have never had access to them before, thanks to Greg Reaster and his non-profit group made up of Bikers called B.I.K.E.R.S.C.A.P. Inc. "It stands for Building, Intellect, Knowledge, Education, Resources, and Schooling, through a Computer Acquisition Program." Reaster started donating computers to children in need. So far this year more than 32 children have received computer systems. On Aug 3rd, Bay News 9 aired B.I.K.E.R.S.C.A.P. as their "Everyday Hero!" The responses have been overwhelming with people that want to donate. They need our help! Their website had over 30,000 hits that day alone. They need volunteers to help pick up donated systems, help process applications, and answer phones. (Any IT people out there?) Also, storage space is a must!! Maybe you know someone that is in the storage business and can donate a month or two of storage for a very worthy cause?? OR EVEN a storage trailer, so they can process the influx. They have already filed their 501(c)(3) with the IRS. If they can get some assistance, they can place a lot more computer systems with kids just as school is starting. Fundraising ideas are also needed! Please contact either jen@bikerscap.org or lori@bikerscap.org. Of course it takes money to keep this rapidly growing Biker Charity running and they are not ashamed to ask bikers to help them!! Let’s help B.I.K.E.R.S.C.A.P. get these systems out to these kids! Be a part of their goal of 75 systems as the school year starts. Most of these children have never owned a computer before and say it's made a major difference in their schoolwork! These kids will bring a tear to the largest biker. They've given donations and had 6 foot 6” bikers, behind dark sunglasses shed tears! They're happy to be a part of B.I.K.E.R.S.C.A.P. In July, a benefit was held for Cancer Awareness with 2 computer donations. It was a beautiful day for riding; the kids were happy and surprised. Everyone had a great time! Thank you all for the support you showed and for your donations. In June, Fox TV 13, WTVT, featured B.I.K.E.R.S.C.A.P. on Kelly Ring's "What is Right with Tampa Bay." Let’s be a part of this great cause and help a child make a difference! For more information check out their website: www. bikerscap.org

Attila The Fucati Is Here!! In the coming issues Full Throttle Magazine will be attempting a first in free magazine history, a project bike! Yep you read it right! The bike supplied by “Mr. 300” Robert DeMoss is a scrap title bike, so we don’t know if the drive train is useable. With the idea behind this project to spend as little as possible and use Full Throttle advertisers for out source labor and knowledge, it didn’t take long for the project to take flight!

Currently the bike resides at Euro Cycles of Tampa Bay. Joe McGuire and crew will disassemble the drive train and advise if it is useable. In the end, the project should be unveiled at Full Throttle Expo and bike Builder’s Invitational (January, 2010). Keep an eye out for monthly updates on our progress and if you feel you would like to help us in some way or another please contact us at 813814-1424. Everyone who helps us on this project will be listed in the monthly updates in the magazine and on the final product info boards when the bike will be displayed.

Homecoming at Lake Como for Bare Buns Bikers!! This is where it all got started several years ago when several of us sat down and thought it would be a good idea to have a riding group for nudists. We all agreed Bare Buns Bikers was a great name and I asked to the third member. I thought that was fitting since they call me 3 Finger everyone agreed. A lady we call B.G. took it over and it has really took off, now just finishing the summer tour of the eastern U.S. from Woodstock, Connecticut to Florida. This event at Lake Como Florida will be September 11-13 with a ride Saturday the 12th. Lake Como is at Land O Lakes, Florida near US 41 and SR 52. Ask anyone in the area or go to www.barebunsbikers.com for more info. You don’t have to be a nudist to come out and have fun and we donate to the veteran’s nursing home. A lot of people seem to forget them so come out have fun! Food vendors and a lot of friendly people that always say, "come back we would like to see more of you"!?! I ran into an old Ironworker friend at the Webster Swap Meet last month. His name was Mike Hicks. He had paintings for sale and I was interested in the old Indian painting so I asked if he did it he said no a friend in prison did it. He said his name was Bradly Ackerman. He never painted before in his life til he was incarcerated. His release date is 2012. He would like to sell some but he has no store so his friend Mike takes care of it for him. He will do commission work. Mike’s home phone is 352-588-2598 or his email is m.d.hicks2@tampabay.rr.com. I've seen other paintings and thought they were great. See you soon B.G.

Sitting at my desk, the phone rang.

By Night Train

NT: Hello? BL: Simon its Billy. NT: Billy? How are you doing? BL: I’m pretty good thanks. NT: You holding up strong? BL: So far yes. I wanted to call you and thank you for the column you wrote on me in July. NT: No problem Billy. I appreciate you opening up and giving me the time. It was hard to write but I enjoyed it. I poured my heart and soul in this one just like you did. How is your mom? BL: She’s pretty good. Thanks. NT: Billy can I ask you a question? BL: Of course. NT: Look, I don’t know you as well as many do but I have grown to really appreciate you, your honesty and your transparency. I have no real right to ask this and you are not obligated to answer. Would I be wrong to think that if you were to get off easy with next to no punishment it just would not sit well with you? BL: (silence) … Absolutely Simon. I am prepared to take responsibility for my actions and I trust that the judge will make the best decision for everyone. NT: Billy, is there anything at all that I can do for you or your family? BL: It would be nice if you could just be there for my sentence. Maybe even cover the event for me (chuckle). NT: Billy, I am touched that you ask this of me. As you know my wife just went through a tough surgery and I have two kids under three years old but I will do everything in my power to make it work. This conversation between Billy and I took place approximately 2 weeks before his sentence day. When I came back from Melbourne with my wife and two kids in the car, my heart was heavy but I was relieved for my friend. I watched all the news and read all that I could read about it. I concluded there was absolutely no news that I could provide that had not been provided already. Because of that I concluded that I would not write anything regardless of what my editor would say or feel about it. Then as I reflected on the events of the day, my conversation with Billy of about two weeks before sentence day resurfaced. I did tell Billy that I would cover the event if I could and so I will honor my commitment to him. The lobby was packed with people from all walks of life. Some with suits and ties and some with leather boots and jeans, tattoos and all. Some of Billy’s closest friends were there in his support as well as in support of the victim and his family and friends. I found myself in the courtroom sitting immediately behind Billy’s mother (Marion) as well as his dad (Warren), Billy himself and his sweetheart Amy. Among the crowd I could not help but to notice the soulful, elegant and teary Claudia whom once captured Billy’s heart. Among the crowd was also Bill Dodge, Paul Cox and a number of others. Approximately 95% of the room was filled with people whom sympathized with Billy. The victim’s brother Byron Morelock as well as his son (Sean) walked in and a cordial acknowledgment was exchanged between Billy and them. As Circuit Court Judge Robert Burger entered the court room. Billy went to sit at the defendant’s table. The DA I must admit did an outstanding job and proceeded making his case that Billy’s score sheet was a minimum of 111.15 to a maximum of 176.2 months of incarceration and so on. The DA said that he had no records showing that Billy had remorse and that if you looked at Billy’s traffic record combined with the fatal accident, it provided good grounds to qualify Billy’s actions and choices as a “sophisticated crime” which is just another way in a sense to say that Billy’s judgment and sequential historical choices were leading towards an accident to happen hence putting more weight on Billy’s responsibility.

Billy’s attorney, Greg Eisenmenger built the case, it appeared, quite successfully. While punishment was admittedly necessary, the immediate benefits of “restitution” by means of putting Billy to work in communities reaching out to demographics that are difficult to reach would quite realistically result in saving lives. The benefits of using Billy according to the defense out weighted the long-term results of incarceration. The defense provided recent, as well as not so recent, cases which demonstrated these benefits to different degrees. The defense went as far as bringing a long time military friend of Billy, a high profile corporate executive mentor of Billy, a high school friend now active police officer, a family friend and University Prof., Billy’s sister (Georgia) and Billy’s dad to speak about Billy’s character. Billy was characterized as a good teacher, a charitable person, honorable, compassionate, and a loving brother. Even the victim’s family took the stand and acknowledged that while punishment was solely at the discretion of the judge, they felt that Billy could be more useful outside than inside prison. As a matter of fact, the victim’s nephew stated “I understand it was not intentional. It was an accident”. During the recess, pretty much everyone was smiling, positive and in good spirit. The defense had obviously appeared to create a good momentum in favor of leniency. At a fair distance in the lobby I noticed Billy and the victim’s family smiling and exchanging a few private words. It was as if there was an unspoken bond between them. After the recess, people came back in and anxiously sat down. “Remain seated while the judge comes into the court room” stated the deputy. Billy took the stand. He expressed how deeply blessed he felt to have the family and friends he has. “I killed Mr. Morelock with a 7,000 pound truck. I was careless. I take responsibility for the most irresponsible decision I made in my life.” With tears in his eyes Billy continued stating, “I have been going by the accident site every day for the last few years and there is not a day that I do not look up to God and pray for Mr. Morelock as well as his family. No matter what, we can’t bring him back and while I am not looking for pity for myself I have to live with this memory every day.” Judge Burger proceeded and pronounced a sentence which I am convinced beyond a shadow of a doubt was hard for him to deliver. Six years of prison, three years of probation, a lifetime suspension of driving privileges as well as alcohol and drug conditions plus reimbursement of a variety of judiciary costs. Total silence came into the room. Amy crumbled in tears as well as Billy’s sister and a number of others. Billy stood up composed and extended his wrists to the deputy to be handcuffed. The single and only person he exchanged a look with in the courtroom was his mother. A silent look that loudly said “I’ll be okay mom. I love you.” In my opinion, there is not a single soul present in this courtroom that expected Billy to get off without some kind of punishment. Judging from the reaction I also believe there is not a single soul in the room, including the victim’s family, that were not heavy hearted in hearing the sentence. After speaking with the Morelock’s family members in private, I will even go as far as to say that they were obviously sorry and felt bad. For some of us common mortals, the defense built their argument quite strongly and convincingly. When a victim’s family even appears to side with the defendant you tend to believe the judge will make note of it. I sat there wondering what happened. I believe the defense’s argument was so strong that it became its’ greatest weakness. In principle and because of the nature of the law, even if it was to his discretion the judge could not let Billy off easy. On the other hand the potential benefits to be lenient and letting Billy go to work as an advocate in the communities and face a “staggered sentence” over the years presented real tangible benefits in a fair restitution. The judge sentenced Billy to more than the minimum and less than the maximum guidelines of the

law. I am not a mind reader but deep down I have a feeling the judge did not want to pronounce that sentence. The obvious became apparent to him that Billy was far from having a criminal mind set to commit crimes in a “sophisticated” fashion. The judge, however bound by the law, probably considered the immediate ripple effects his sentence would have in saving lives in a more immediate manner than with a lenient sentence. Furthermore, his sentence would not only send a message to the demographics the defense was referring to in pleading their case but also to the demographics in the celebrity circles. I also have the feeling the judge most probably could not help but to notice the inner strength Billy has as well as the huge support behind him and so for these reasons Billy is ideally equipped to effectively reach out to a multitude of demographics. Today, I believe Billy would agree that while his body is in custody, his mind is now freer than it has been in years. I believe with this sentence, Billy would also agree he has been empowered and given an opportunity, as the defense pleaded, to reach to demographics a large majority cannot reach. Billy, as the defense stated, has the unique gift and ability to make these challenging demographics listen to him and respect him. Billy, as the University Professor described him, is an outstanding teacher and communicator. To those who have made the comment that Billy would have been better utilized outside teaching in the communities, being an advocate, I would like, as much as it pains me knowing my friend will be away for so long, to suggest that the restitution and teaching has already begun. Restitution has begun within the demographics the defense so eloquently pleaded to reach through Billy from the very day of the tragic and fatal accident. Restitution has begun not merely at its surface but at the very heart of the demographics. From the past candid and privileged conversations I have had with Billy, I believe that today he has gained more of a sense of purpose than ever before. I believe that while he is extremely sad to be apart from his loved ones, he is also at peace and fully prepared to continue to contribute to the well-being of others beyond what any of us can expect. Billy, I trust you are well. I know you will become stronger than you already are. It will not be easy by any means. Know however, that the loyalty of your friends and the love of your close ones are with you. I suspect this is far from being the end of Billy Lane. Draw my engineer friend, draw and continue to draw a multitude of masterpieces. I shall see you in the near future. Billy Lane, 39, is the owner of Choppers Inc. in Melbourne, Florida and became famous from his appearances in numerous bike building television shows. He owns several US patents on motorcycle parts and accessories and has authored two books one of which is an autobiography. The case concerns traffic death of rider Gerald Morelock who died riding his motorcycle on State Road A1A south of Melbourne Beach on Sept. 4, 2006. Police say 39-year-old Billy Lane crossed a double yellow line to pass slow traffic, allegedly crashing his Dodge pickup truck head-on into 56-year-old Sebastian Park Inlet Ranger Gerald Morelock’s motorcycle. Past, Present and Where to Be

To start with the past, I was at the 50’s Pub on SR 52 for a pig roast / bikini bike wash on August 1st. Live music inside the bar, and DJ Patti MC outside. Talk about a hot place. You had to be there to understand. The rain came right up to 52, but came short of getting us wet. Well rain wet. If you walked outside, you got wet from sweat. But the cold beer was plenty and the ac inside helped. Look for more about The 50s Pub on SR52 events coming up. I caught up with the Wild Bill Benefit Poker Run at The Cotee River Lounge for the start. They put out quite a spread for breakfast as they do every Sunday morning. I had to go to the 50s Pub but got back with the benefit at the Hideaway bar. More food and a couple of heads shaved. What people will do for a friend. He’s doing ok but has a way to go to recover so please put in a pray for Wild Bill. For the present, if you are around US 19 and Grand Blvd. stop by the Cotee River Lounge. You can find me helping Patti with the Cotee River Lounge Bike Night every Thursday night. I came across Jaebird of Jaebird’s Biker Gear. She gave me a set of “Biker Rain Chaps” to try out. She knows when I head out on my bike, I don’t know how long or what I may ride into. They don’t take up much room and come in handy in this weather. If you would like to get a set for yourself. Call 727-359-6112 or bikerrainchaps@yahoo.com. I received a bottle MC Hogwash. As soon as I try it, I’ll let you know about it. Now I don’t wash my bike that often, so it may take a little time to try. Coming up, Where To Be on Sept. 13th (Sunday) is at the “UP THE CREEK PUB”. it’s their GRAND OPENNING with a free pig roast, hot dogs and more. There will be the 1st Annual Elfers Classic Car & Bike Show. It’s at Grand Blvd. and Trouble Creek Rd. behind Autozone. Look at the full page ad in this section. The Edge Bar is having a “Livin on the Edge Biker Bash” for Brest Cancer on Saturday Sept. 19. At 2:00pm They plan to have a charity event each month. Venom Custom Chopper Bar and Grill has the service dept. open now and the Bar and Grill will be open soon. Stop by where Prowlers was and Venom is now. I’ll tell you more the events they have plan to come. Till then, Ride Safe and look out for the bad drivers out there. The Big “O”

Apparently the American Medical Association has weighed in on the new economic stimulus package... The Allergists voted to scratch it, but the Dermatologists advised not to make any rash moves. The Gastroenterologists had sort of a gut feeling about it, but the Neurologists thought the Administration had a lot of nerve. The Obstetricians felt they were all laboring under a misconception. Ophthalmologist considered the idea shortsighted. Pathologists yelled, “Over my dead body!” while the Pediatricians said, ‘Oh, Grow up!’ The Psychiatrists thought the whole idea was madness, while the Radiologists could see right through it. Surgeons decided to wash their hands of the whole thing. The Internists thought it was a bitter pill to swallow, and the Plastic Surgeons said, “This puts a whole new face on the matter.” The Podiatrists thought it was a step forward, but the Urologists were pissed off at the whole idea. The Anesthesiologists thought the whole idea was a gas, and the Cardiologists didn’t have the heart to say no... In the end, the Proctologists won out, leaving the entire decision up to the a-holes in Washington.

A blonde goes into work one morning crying her eyes out. Her boss asked sympathetically, “What’s the matter?” The blonde replies, “Early this morning I got a phone call saying that my mother had passed away.” The boss, feeling sorry for her, says, A woman brought a “Why don’t you go home for the day? The vet rolled his eyes, turned around and left the room. He returned a few minutes later with a black Labrador Retriever. As the duck’s owner looked on in amazement, the dog stood on his hind legs, put his front paws on the examination table and sniffed the duck from top to bottom. I picked up one of those ‘dividers’ that they keep by the cash register and placed it between our things so they wouldn’t get mixed. After the girl had scanned al l of my items, she picked up the ‘divider’, looking it all over for the bar code so she could scan it. Not finding the bar code she said to me, ‘Do you know how much this is?’ I said to her ‘I’ve changed my mind, I don’t think I’ll buy that today.’ She said ‘OK,’ and I paid her for the things and left.. She had no clue to what had just happened.

WE’RE BACK

COME SEE US

Full Throttle 82

With afternoon (actually this year anytime showers) in full swing it was hard to make it out of the garage. We did manage to dodge the storms the night of the Thrashers ballgame. That was an amazing turn out as well as a lot of fun! It seemed like every other bike night we planned to attend this month was a wash out! Hopefully next month will be better. Since we couldn’t ride here, we took a trip up to the Midwest where the weather was awesome. The nights were a little chilly, we actually wore our coats in the evening. In between rides we hooked up with many of Gary’s school friends and family. The riding was great, with exception of the roads, but loved all the hills and valleys; it was a nice change of pace. We covered all of Northern IL, from Chicago to Iowa. In Savanna, IL we found the coolest biker hangout, called Poopy’s. Food, drink, live music, camping, shopping and tattoos, what more could you ask for?? There had to be at least 200 bikes on that Saturday afternoon, if you are ever up that way, it is a must see. Gary celebrated his 42nd birthday on the 13th. We celebrated by spending the weekend in Cedar Key. That is a very relaxing, laid back little town and the locals were the friendliest folks. On the way home we made a pit stop in Gainesville, where Drew, my oldest son, was off to college. We helped him get settled into his first apartment. Where does the time go, it seems like just yesterday I was tucking him into bed and he was tell-

ing me he was going to live with me forever. It was a happy and sad day all in one! With the end of summer just around the corner, at least according to the calendar, the riding and events will be kicking into high gear once again. Just a reminder of the Unity Fest Poker Run starting at Black Widow Harley-Davidson followed by a day of live music, featuring Amanda Overmyer, at the Charlotte Co. Fairgrounds on October 3rd and the American Legion Wounded Warrior Pre Biketoberfest on Oct 10th. See the ads for both of these events in our green section. We hope to see you there. For any upcoming events, rides or business advertising give us a call and we’ll help spread the word. 941-504-8297 or email ridefullthrottle@ Preforming 4 shows live.com at the Unity Fest October 3rd Until next month be SAFE and have FUN! Can't believe where time has went!Seems like I was just sitting here trying to figure out what I'd write about. With the economy and the rainy season, we sure are not hurting for bike events or bike nights! Not wanting to miss being a part of HD history, I get up Sunday Morn on July 26th to ride the" Guinness World Record Harley Ride". Knowing it would rain, it was still a ride my Chrome Luvin', Tank Huging, Chrome Diva Sisters knew we must go! Meeting at Harley in Ft. Myers then waiting out the rain there we finally got a little break of sunshine and headed over to the Germaine Arena in Estero. What a "AWESOME "site! Nothing but them HD's shining like diamonds. Finally we are ready to get "Hawg Wild" and start our ride to the Seminole Casino in Immokalee. Talk about some Bad Azz Thunder! Once arriving at the Casino we all headed in different directions, some to gamble, get their favorite beverage and some just to enjoy good conversation! Chrome Diva Bonnie and I headed right to the EE_TO_LEET_KE Grill to have lunch and their famous frybread! Then along came Mary, soon Deb,Norma,Steve,Bob,Susan.....This is the best part ,breaking fry bread with my broth-

ers and sisters!!!! Now did we break the record? Hello no, but we sure had a great time trying! Until next time , keep your hand on the throttle! Donta

CHA-CHING Gambling will be a lot easier as the State of Florida is introducing 1,000 instant ticket vending machines. The first terminals will be placed in Tampa and Fort Myers and all 1,000 units will be up and running by mid-October.

warning! warning! If you cheat on your wife, here is a story you need to read! A Wisconsin man was invited to a hotel by his “girlfriend”. Thinking he was going to have a great evening, he went to the hotel and agreed to be tied up by “the love of his life” .... nothing like a good night of kinky sex right? Well, he got a lot more than he bargaining for. You see, the gal had three other “girlfriends” waiting in the bathroom along with the guy’s wife! They asked him who he loved the most .... threatened him with mace .... punched him in the face .... and then broke out the Krazy Glue! Yes, they glued is “weenie” to his stomach .... ouch !!!! The women face kidnapping charges but the man was also charged with child abuse, theft and harassment. Damn, I’m glad I don’t live in Wisconsin!

PEOPLE ON THE DECLINE? U.S. births fell in 2008 for the first time since the start of the decade - officially ending the “baby boom”. There were 4,247,000 births last year, down approximately 68,000 from 2007. However, the 2007 figure was the largest number in our history. I guess we’ll see what happens this year to see the true trend!

Endangered Species?

ANyone for chinese? If you think the United States is tough on convicted criminals take a look at this statistic .... In 2008 there were 37 executions carried out in the USA (Texas accounted for 18 of the deaths and there were a total of 42 executions in 2007) .... Last year there were 346 executions in Iran .... and (are you ready for this) in 2008 China executed 5,727 people! That’s right, five thousand, seven hundred and twenty-seven people were put to death in China last year!

FastRailConnectUs.com Here we go again with talks concerning a high-speed rail line connecting Tampa and Orlando with long range plans to reach Miami. Now don’t get me wrong, I think our area needs a light-rail system especially when you look at the fact that states we are the only large metropolitan area out of the top 20 nationwide cities without some type of service. This measure actually was passed by Florida voters and then removed by state legislators. The group “ConnectUs” is behind the new push and they are looking to raise $2.53-billion in federal economic stimulus money to get it done.

ON THE JOB HAZARDS A third employee in six weeks has died at Disney World in Orlando. This is a shocking number and something that the megacompany needs to take a serious look at. It’s great to provide excitement and give people thrills but when those thrills start threatening your employees it’s time to make changes.

cHURCH HOUSE / POOR HOUSE Ten percent of the Catholic churches in South Florida are being closed the church has said it lost a great amount of money in the stock market and weekly donations are way down. The church said they can’t make utility payments, insurance payments and other normal expenses due to lack of funds. Wow .... I guess it doesn’t matter what you do, things are difficult in today’s economy!

$$$ 4 cLUNKERS Here’s some good news !!!! Construction of US single-family homes rose in July for the fifth straight month. In other news, General Motors says it will add 60,000 vehicles to its production in the third and fourth quarters and bring back 1,350 laid-off workers. The increase is due to the “cash for clunkers” program ... wow, a stimulus package that actually worked .... that’s different!

Full Throttle Magazine

This month was a thought pondering month. I started this month, Sat. the 8th, on a poker run for yet another person with whom I have had the privileged of meeting through working for the magazine. This was another run for a good person who has unfortunately been stricken with that dreadful disease we have come to know as cancer. I have only met Dorian a few times at Gainesville Harley where he works as a Sales Manager. But from the show of people at the poker run and money donated by friends and strangers alike, it is obvious he is a well loved person. The day was gorgeous, a great ride to places I haven’t been yet. We rode from G-Ville Harley to the Alachua Sports Pub to see Donna & my friends there. Then we went to Archer to a place called Rail House Grill for a great deal on a good lunch, then for the best part of the ride to Georgie Girls in Orange Lake. We ended at Gator Tails for a very enjoyable end to the ride. They had 100 bikes show and raised over $3,800 in donations and raised funds from the run. Dorian was there and was very, very appreciative for all who helped. On the 15th I attended yet another run for a cancer patient, Jerry Murray, from Welbourne, Fl. I was only able

to attend the end of the run due to my knee being busted up. Polly & Danny from Columbia County Cycles were our hosts for the day and they always do such a great job throwing together a great run, and received a load of donations for the run. Jerry seemed to be a very nice and well like individual. Jerry has been diagnosed with lung cancer and now has a lymphoid that that has to be removed as well. He is hopeful that they get it all and not have to do any chemo or radiation. So please send up your prayers for Jerry. They had 129 riders for this event and raised almost $3000. Jerry was very appreciative of all that attended and let us know it too. Well, that was the extent of my month. I am taking a two week break from riding now. I hurt my knee a few weeks ago and need to let it heal up so I can ride on the run I am hosting for Lil John. Ya’ll have a great month!!!

L

ittle did I know back on January 28, 2009 when I met Bruce Rossmeyer that a few months after I would be writing about him again, but this time as a tribute farewell. It is a privilege that I do not take for granted. The day I learned of Bruce and his fatal accident it felt as if the wind had been cut right out of my sails. It felt as if a ton of bricks had been dropped on me. When I met him for the first time I drilled him with in-depth questions. He graciously welcomed the conversation and made himself vulnerable. When this dynamic occurs between two human beings, I guess there is a certain degree of personal connection that takes place. Some of the questions I asked him were, “what if anything ever happened to you, what kind of legacy would you like to leave behind you” or “what would you like on your tombstone?” You will understand that when I learned of his death I was profoundly saddened and I could not help but to take this to heart. This is why no matter what, I decided I would be attending his funeral. The funeral was scheduled to begin at 11 AM in a local church in Daytona. I knew the place would be packed. I set to leave Tampa as early as possible and intentionally got there at 8 AM so I could regroup, reflect and pray.

I was greeted by Bruce’s personal assistant Tammy. Extending my sincere sympathy to Tammy we hugged and it felt as if we had known each other for some time. “Anything you need you just let me know okay Tammy?” “Ok Simon thank you”. I sat there in one of the pews in the church for hours staring at the slideshow. Pictures of Bruce with celebrities were shown but most predominant were pictures of Bruce as a family man. Daughters, son, grandchildren and beloved wife portrayed in a variety of scenes just kept coming up. Bruce was a big man with a big belly and he made fun of himself about that. One of the pictures showed Bruce and one of his then pregnant daughters facing each other bare belly and laughing. “I am not here to make money.” said one slide “but only to make friends”. Another slide would say “My son has a PhD and my hubby has dealerships”. I think the one that most people got a kick out of was the slide that said “My idea of roughing it is staying at the Holiday Inn when the bar is closed”. As I reflected I wondered what Bruce would have thought of me for a moment leaving my wife and two little girls to be at his funeral. I started missing my family really

really bad just wanting to hold my little girls in my arms. The little bit I knew of Bruce drew me to conclude he would’ve probably said “Simon forget about me and just get your rear-end back with your family!!” Regardless, I decided to stay and there was nothing that would’ve changed my mind despite how much I missed my family. By about 9:30 AM you could hear the odd motorcycle rumbling into the parking lot. The small church was literally packed by about 10:30 AM. There were people standing outside. My guess is that the attendance reached the thousands. The pastor opened the ceremony by acknowledging the iconic status Bruce had reached and how we could not possibly do justice to what a great man he was. The pastor followed by saying that although we were all there to mourn the loss of Bruce’s life, we were there “most importantly to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ” in which he declared Bruce was now part of. This, he said, is a good reason to celebrate. His children; Will, Shelley, Mandy, Randy and Wendy were all in the front row

with Mrs. Rossmeyer (Sandy). Looking at them one by one I could sense the enormous strength and bond in the family. A close friend of Bruce whom from what I understand was there the day of the accident took the microphone and delivered a powerful, honorable testimony for Bruce. The ceremony progressed and the children took the stand reading a letter they had written shortly before which was addressed to their dad; “had we known you would’ve gone this way, we would have never held you back from eating hot dogs” they wrote. Tears of laughter, tears of joy, tears of hope and tears of sorrow were shared with all. Certainly one of the most distinctful testimonial in my opinion came from Bruce’s granddaughter (Mandy’s daughter); Annie. Annie, in her early teens I presumed, stood there with composure and with strength I could only attribute to her monarchs. Annie proceeded and started to read from her own notes. It was apparent, I concluded, while she spoke her notes were her own. That is why I was blown away when she read one of my favorite portions of the Scripture (Ecclesiastes 3:1-14); There is an appointed time for everything. And there is a time for every event under heaven-- A time to give birth and a time to die; A time to plant and a time to uproot what is planted. A time to kill and a time to heal; A time to tear down and a time to build up. A time to weep and a time to laugh; A time to mourn and a time to dance. A time to throw stones and a time to gather stones; A time to embrace and a time to shun embracing. A time to search and a time to give up as lost; A time to keep and a time to throw away. A time to tear apart and a time to sew together; A time to be silent and a time to speak. A time to love and a time to hate; A time for war and a time for peace. What profit is there to the worker from that in which he toils? I have seen the task which God has given the sons of men with which to occupy themselves. He has made

look or with a handshake as if she was the one doing the comforting rather than us comforting her. Bruce’s body was taken away with his family for a private time. When I asked Bruce what legacy he wanted to leave and how he wanted people to remember him he said; “To be well respected in business and for peers to appreciate I love what I do. I would like to be remembered in the community for my philanthropy and giving back. My favorite charity among many is Camp Boggy Creek.” Bruce also added “I have achieved almost everything in life possible; a menagerie of very successful businesses and an absolute beautiful family; what more could I ask for?”

everything appropriate in its time. He has also set eternity in their heart, yet so that man will not find out the work which God has done from the beginning even to the end. I know that there is nothing better for them than to rejoice and to do good in one’s lifetime; moreover, that every man who eats and drinks sees good in all his labor--it is the gift of God. I know that everything God does will remain forever; there is nothing to add to it and there is nothing to take from it, for God has so worked that men should fear Him. It is as if a complete total and peaceful silence had come into the room. You could borderline feel the comfort people felt. The pastor came back on and concluded in summary that despite the circumstances, the believers could take refuge in the comfort of the knowledge of their hope to see Bruce again in heaven. The casket was taken away while people stood. The children and grandchildren were crying. Mrs. Rossmeyer walked along, was reaching out with a

Well Bruce, you have certainly succeeded in doing that and much more. The legacy you are leaving I believe is engraved in people’s hearts extending well beyond the biker community. As a child I often found myself on the receiving end of the generosity of individuals such as you. Thank you for all you have done. Thank you for leaving inspiration within most of us to carry on. Night Train To reach Night Train: FloridaFullThrottle@verizon.net Bruce Rossmeyer was killed in an accident while he was on his way to attend the Sturgis bike show in South Dakota; he was the owner of largest Harley Davidson dealership of the country, including the biggest Destination Daytona, which is near Daytona Beach off Interstate 95. Bruce Rossmeyer made his name and face indistinguishable with Harley Davidson through Television commercials and huge highway billboards, using his smash hit personality, he promoted Daytona Bike Week making it a huge success. He was 66-years-old at the time of his death and is survived by his wife “Sandy”, 5 children and 9 grandchildren. We extend

our sincere and profound sympathy to the family. Rest assured the Full Throttle family stands behind you 100%.

Praise The Lord and God Bless everyone, Well I’ve been in and out of the hospital now for about 3 months. Seems I messed up my right side and they’re having to teach me to walk. Through it all I knew to trust Jesus more. I haven’t forgot for one second about the war going on in Iraq, and I’m thankful for the soldiers and veterans and all the freedoms that we have. I want to thank everyone that stuck with me like the Hellfighters, Peewee, Spanky and Dianne, Big Steve and the Salvation Saloon. I could go on forever. Bruce Rossmeyer will truly be missed but you never know when it’ll be your time so be ready. I want to thank all the staff but mostly the women at “The Terrace” of pearl is a mutt! Men and mine will keep you and yours in our thoughts and prayers. Well keep your britches between the ditches with Christ Love. Brother Bert

Full Throttle Magazine

Well, summer is almost gone and that means the kids are back in school and the traffic gets way worse. So keep in mind, look twice save your own life. Now it’s time we all started getting ready for Biketoberfest, so if you haven’t got your ads by now you better do it, remember our deadline is the 15th don’t miss out. I’m proud to be working on a new project, Artistic Chopper’s The K-Moto for kids. The K-Moto chopper is being raffled off and the proceeds are going to Children’s Miracle Network. Man what a great cause. I hope everyone that made Strugis had a good time. Unfortunately we lost one of our friends and a great motorcycle icon. Bruce Rossmeyer was involved in a motorcycle accident on July 30th and went to be with the Lord. My prayers go out to the Rossmeyer family. Bruce touched so many and he will be missed now and for years to come. Bruce Rossmeyer was a self made success. A man that had a dream and made it come true. Now when look up and see a cloud moving just a little faster then the rest it’s probably just him waiting for all of us to be together again for another ride. Hope I see ya there. Remember, check out Full Throttle for some of the best events going and if you got something coming up, let us know we want to be there. Till next time RIDE SOBER AND SAFE Peewee
