Wow, do we have a busy month planned for July!!! It starts off with our nation’s birthday and the usual 4th of July family get together. This is one of my favorite holidays as it means cooking on the grill, eating hot dogs, swimming, having fun with the family and watching fireworks! The next weekend, we are heading to South Florida to watch my son Paul and his Navy buddies compete in the Red Bull Flutag contest! It’s a pretty good bet the Navy guys will sink into the water just as fast as the other contestants! Our annual Five Bridge Run will take place on Sunday July 18. We will roll over the five bridges that connect the Tampa Bay area finishing with a ride over the Sunshine Skyway. If you have never rode a motorcycle over this fantastic bridge ... this is your chance! We always have a good turnout for this event and hopefully this year will be no different! The very next week (Sunday July 25) features one of my other favorite runs we do. Our annual Christmas In July Toy Run will start at Tampa Harley-Davidson and end at St.Joseph’s Children Hospital. This is a great run as we get to meet and greet the children (and their families) at the hospital. The opportunity to see these sick kids smile when they receive a new toy is an awesome experience. If you don’t get involved in anything else all year, this is a motorcycle event that will make you feel good inside! Last (but not least) we will once again be joining Fletchers Harley-Davidson and The Clearwater Threshers for a day at the ballpark! This annual event featues a bike show, tickets to the game, vendors, fireworks and a whole lot of family fun! Come and join us on Saturday July 24 at Bright House Field! I want to wish everybody a Happy 4th of July and remind you all to party responsibly and don’t drink and ride! Happy Birthday America!
Here we are in the dog days of summer! It’s hot, the sun is brutal and if you go for a ride without any sunscreen you end up looking like a tomato! Gotta love the Florida Summers! With the heat also comes great days at the beach and good rides during the day before the afternoon thunderstorms and really, isn’t that the reason we are all here in the first place!? Full Throttle Magazine has three great events happening in the month of July! First is the 5 Bridge Run on July 18th. We are starting at Hennessy’s and ends at Wing House in Bradenton. This is a great run and gives some of you guys a reason to treck over the Skyway and get those ladies of yours over their fears! The second event is on July 24th at BrightHouse Field for the Threshers Bike Night. This is a fun time where the bikes get to ride on the field, stay out there for the National Anthem and get to see fireworks after the game. There is also a bike show with CASH prizes, you get in free to the game and get a FREE BEER! The Third event is The Christmas in July Toy Run on July 25th and starts at Tampa Harley-Davidson. We ride from Tampa H-D to St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital to hand out gifts and meet with the kids there. These are three great events that are fun and get you out there riding around town and doing good for the community. Full Throttle Magazine has made the decision to bring Preachers Cycle Promotions and Revrend Jim on board as our Sales Manager. This is to help all of our advertisers and bring the opportunity to host bike nights and much more. It’s amazing how we are still growing in these hard economical times. So if you are interested in becoming a sales rep. for Full Throttle Magazine, helping the motorcycle community and becoming a contributing writer for our monthly publication please contact Revrend Jim at 727-504-3138. I’m going to STURGIS!!!! Thanks again to all my friends and sponsors who are making it possible for me to go to Sturgis this year. I am meeting up in St. Louis with our Midwest Full Throttle Magazine and riding approx. 1,000 miles with them into Sturgis, SD. It’s very affordable to become one of my sponsors for only $200 and a few t-shirts. I will wear your shirts while there and get a picture in front of Rushmore and/or Devil’s Tower wearing your shirts; you also get mention in the magazine in the recap and on the website with a link. I have more spaces available if you would like to become a sponsor. Contact our offices by July 15th at 813-814-1424 and ask for Tony C. I would like to say congrats to Scott and India for tying the knot! I wish you two the best!

The Diva Angels Pasco Chapter recently had our 3rd Annual fundraiser. This was our 3rd fundraiser and our first poker run. Despite the sweltering heat and the ailing economy, we had a good turnout to benefit the Women's Abuse Centers and the SPCA. DJ Dave of the Italian Angels volunteered his time as the emcee and of course, musical entertainment. Thanks to our Tampa chapter Sister Divas and ALL others who came out to support the Poker Run. If you were out in Oldsmar during the Memorial weekend, it is likely you saw Diva Angels in tye-dye Red, White, and Blue volunteer staff shirts for the 2nd Annual Freedom Fest. Thanks to the hard working staff of Full Throttle, Pasco, and Tampa Diva Angels the Freedom Fest was a success as well. We helped by directing traffic and by working with security to ensure the safety and fun of all the bikers who came to this year's event. Oldsmar welcomed all who helped and it’s our hope that this event will become a growing and lasting landmark event for the Memorial weekend in the future. For women who are interested checking out our group, find us on the web at www.DivaAngelsPasco.com. Our general Pasco Chapter meetings are every 3rd Friday. Check, our website for the location and times. If you are outside of our area and are interested in checking out the Diva Angels, www.DivaAngels.org. The Diva Angels is a 501(c)-3 organization. Remember, ride safe and we hope to see you at our next general meeting!

Dennis Lee Hopper.....Ernest Miller Hemingway....and Eccentrics They say the only thing certain is change and in my life most of it has always been for the best. This months column was sure to involve a Moto-Guzzi or some historical bike connection that interacted with a great part of past history. But a change in plans has me sitting in Key West, Florida a couple days from deadline, an unplanned dive and drinking trip caused by the Deep Horizon oil rig disaster in Louisiana . Guess I wanted to see my beloved Keys " oil free" one last time. I do have a few traditions and superstitions I have come by in my life and a couple relate to Key West. Whenever I'm there I always visit Ernest Hemingway's home on Whitehead Street and always drink once a day at Captain Tonys which by the way my friends is the original 'Sloppy Joes' where Hemingway did drink and does to this day, but that goes to another of my superstitions doesn't it? There as I sat petting one of the many six toed cats on his estate and asking Mr. Hemingway (who in 1954 won the nobel prize for literature) for some inspiration as to what to write. For you see I had been playing for some 20 odd days and really hadn't thought much about my one dollar a month writing gig......... Well there it was in the next guided tour group a shirt that read 'Dennis HopperEasy Rider Forever".And It occurred to me that Hemingway appeals to us bikers, us motorcyclists us eccentrics who live outside "the box"and outside the normal. Some are scared of our type some want to be our type but cant. He was an adventurer, a womanizer, a hell raiser and an eccentric, hunter, fisherman and drinker. He was known as much for what he did away from his writing as for what he wrote. His exploits as an outdoorsman, his epic travels and world wide drinking, brawling and adventures are legendary. As I thought to myself Hopper and Hemingway were much more alike then you could imagine just separated by about 50 years . Dennis Lee Hopper, actor, director, artist and eccentric motorcyclist and poet of our times. I'm not going to retread the usual filler on Dennis Hoppers life but I will give you a few that made him what he was, made him one of us. Hemingway wrote "as you get older, it is harder to have heros, but more necessary".While "Easy Rider" put Hopper on a pedestal in the biking world he had already made a spot in the universe.Born in Dodge City,Kansas. His father was a OSS/CIA spy and his mother a lifeguard. Shakespearean trained and a veteran of plays at age 19. He would appear in "Rebel Without a Cause" and "Giant' and became friends with James Dean and was
amazed at his acting style. He took Deans death very hard and it is said to have started his downward spiral and reputation as an unmanageable actor. In Hollywood he briefly hung out with Nick Adams and Elvis Presley then studied method acting in New York. While in New York he and Steve McQueen were tearing around on a Vespa, some fool opened a door and the two found themselves on the pavement. McQueen had to bolt for a rehersal, leaving Dennis there to clean up.Of course neither had licenses.Hoppers career was almost over as fast as it had begun. Oddly enough in a 1994 interview Hopper credited John Wayne with saving his career with parts in " The Sons of Katie Elder " (1965) and "True Grit" (1969). In " True Grit" it was said that Wayne and Hopper got very well acquainted. It was stated that the "Duke" chased Hopper around the set with a loaded gun, but all was forgiven later. In 1963 he played in a highly controversial episode of the Twilight Zone called " He's Alive" about a second rate neo-nazi being guided by Hitler. It was one appearance in over 140 television shows he would guest on.In 1967 he would appear in "Cool Hand Luke" with Paul Newman. But then came "Easy Rider" in 1969 a movie that would make Dennis Hopper and Peter Fonda legends and a fellow named Jack Nicholson a superstar. It was the first independent, nonunion film to be distributed by a major studio. Hopper and Fonda came up with 400,000 dollars and after delays, re-writes and a lot of drugs, sex and rock-n-roll the epic film of Billy and Wyatt known as "Easy Rider" would be released. Hemingway said "Fiction is inventing out of what knowledge you have. If you invent successfully it is more true than if you try to remember it". I have always liked the "Billy" bike Hopper rode as opposed to the raked Fonda bike known as "Captain America". Hopper had approached Harley Davidson about some "comp" bikes but Harley declined saying they didn't want that image. Hopper bought four former police bikes (1949-52 Hydro-Glide panheads). He then turned them over to African- American bike builders Ben Hardy and Cliff Vaughs. Hopper who had less riding hours than Fonda wanted a more ridable better handling bike while Fonda wanted the rake, paint and flash. The "Capt America" bike was so squirrley to ride that at one point Jack Nicholson who was on the back squeezed his knees on Fondas side to balance the rig so hard it broke one of Fondas ribs. Four bikes were built, 2 of each model of which 3 were stolen before films end. And in the final scene Wyatt and his "Captain America" would be destroyed togather on Louisiana route 105. Dan Hag-
gerty who played Grizzly Adams on TV was the bike handler for the film and would later rebuild this bike and sell it at auction in 2001.The movie also inspired "Easyrider" magazine and the national bike shows that go on to this day.Jimmy Hendrix a motorcyclist himself was so awed by the movie he wrote "Ezy Rider" in tribute.Ironically Hopper wouldn't ride much after this film, much of this had to do with what Rolling Stone magazine characterized as "one of Hollywoods most notorious drug addicts" for 20 years. He was married 5 times and was said to have been doing 3 grams of coke and a gallon of rum a day at his peak.Taos NM became his outcast haven and where he would be laid to rest. It was also at this time he battled Fonda for a bigger share of the residual profits from Easy Rider. But in 1979 his role as a maniac Vietnam era photo journalist in Apocalypse Now put him back on filmmakers radar but was still considered un-reliable and tough to deal with due to the abuse. That was until he entered drug rehab in 1983. At the time of his death he had been clean and sober, living in Venice Beach, Calif. for 18 years. Hemingway said "An intelligent man is sometimes forced to be drunk to spend time with fools". Dennis Hopper would then become the Nitrous Oxide huffing, psycho villain Frank Booth in "Blue Velvet" (1986). He called David Lynch and said "I have to play Frank Booth because I am Frank Booth". He would also get an Oscar nomination that year for the best supporting actor for playing "Shooter" the alcoholic assistant coach to Gene Hackman in "Hoosiers".In 1988 he directed the criticaly acclaimed "Colors" starring Sean Penn and Robert Duvall. He would work in TV and cable mostly and small independent films untill cast in 1993 in "True Romance" where one of the finest scenes ever made took place between him and fellow gifted psycho Christopher Walken. He was accused of "selling out" when doing the NIKE footwear ads but Hopper said "A true artist tries alot of different paths" and who doesnt remember the Bruce Smith "Bad things man,bad things" spot.He would then make a blockbuster called "Speed" and in 1995 become "The Deacon" and lead the smokers against Kevin Costner in "Waterworld" which to me was pure Dennis Hopper and with him"commanding" the Exxon Valdez it seemed an odd take on todays problem in the Gulf. Most recently he played in the cable series"Crash" and the 1st season of "24" Theres so many roles and movies and guest
spots on CD's and shows you could go on and on. For as many years as Hopper has been an actor he has been an acclaimed photographer, painter, sculptor and an avid collector of modern art.In the past decade Hopper got back into motorcycling and became one of the founding vice presidents of the Guggenheim Motorcycle Club. We've had some amazing rides says Hopper"From my art show at the Hermatige to Moscow, then a 5 day trip across Europe and then 1500 miles around the United Arab Emirates"But his wheels of choice are different these days as Dennis has 5 gleaming BMW"s to chose from. When Sports Illustrated interviewed fellow club member Laurence Fishburne they asked if "Hopper could handle a bike?"Fish replied "Totally.Come on man he's (Easy Riders) Billy".Hopper stated he should have died a 100 times over and that he did not really know how his media would be looked at,just that he thought he would leave something interesting behind. When asked about stardom he said "I dont really think of myself as a star.Really, very honestly I think of myself as a very fortunate person whos been able to make a living of sorts through acting and various other things through the years. But im certainly not a star.Im not on any A-list anywhere. But I love what im doing.Ernest Hemingway said "If your going to be a writer, sooner or later you write about everything-the places you went-the people who double crossed you-how the weather was-the ladies you loved-your wins and your losses-and those funny times when you mistakenly thought the world was made for you"Yes I see Dennis and Ernest knocking back a few rums playin roulette at Heavens casino and caberet with Hopper saying "Hey Ernie, hey man how about we do somethin big together soon".Jack Nicholson descibed his friendship with Hopper as being "soul mates" and as his character in Easy Rider George Hanson said to Billy and Wyatt...."There not scared of you"....."There scared of what you represent......... Freedom"

Hi All, the weather is just about being as we like, Yes Hot... Hot... Hot... and wet too. But if you can get a ride in the day it’s good … Brettman and I went on the Soaked and Sore Ass run and took the #5 stop at the Beef O Brady’s in Clewiston …the stop was good and all riders got a drink and food there… Brettman wanted to go to Miami and I just laughed and I took the right turn and went to West Palm instead…but we got where we needed to go and had a good time …So back to town three new places to go to The Krown Lounge in Largo, The Palms in Palm Harbor and The Stix in Palm Harbor. All these places are getting a bike night or a bike day for us to come to. Till next month, DEW

Last month you saw a picture of a place in Tampa Fl. It is a biker friendly bar at 10325 N Nebraska avenue called Elbow Bender. They have cold beer, good food and a girl named Dusty. She has served bikers for about 20 years and I am happy to call her a good friend. If you ride, make time to meet this lady. They have customers like TJ and his other half is a barmaid there. I told you last month I was going to South Beach Miami and I would report in if I had a good time. I had a good time but everything was really expensive. Me and my friend Mumbles really had a good time. I ran into a few celebrities down there of course. I am including pictures of 3 of them – one of them is Ron which you might recognize. Another one is Jesse, you might recognize her as well. The real hi light of the trip was running into my friend Sunny Lane. It is always a brighter day when you get to see her and hang out with her. That girl has a smile and a way about her that just makes you feel good. I am looking forward to seeing her again soon. The hotel we stayed in wasn't bad but we had to pay for parking by the day. If you moved your car, you had to pay for another day. It was a city owned lot – the hotel advertised parking but didn't tell us you had to pay. Be leery if you go down there. It is cheaper to take a cab than use your car. I was all over that place 50 years ago and it was very different. You didn't see the celebrities you see now a days. If you happen to run into me, ask me and I will tell you more about
this trip! Our event in Oldsmar was a good one but I didn't get to stay long because it was too hot. It was good to see old friends. This summer looks like it is going to be awful hot and I do not deal well with the heat. I look forward to seeing all of you soon. See you soon Dusty...

LA HANGOUT FREE EVENT BY PREACHERS CYCLE PROMOTIONS On June 13th L.A. hangout hosted REV JIM and Preacher's Cycle Promotions all free appreciation party. Vendors filled the parking lot to over flow capacity. Tampa V-Twin's lot was jam packed with cool rides in the bike show! The free beer provided by Rick and the crew at the Hang Out tasted great as Don's Dog's served up outstanding BBQ. Thanks to all those who sponsored this event, Winters and Yonker, Brothers Powder Coating, Greg's Custom Cycles, Tampa V Twin, K & K Customs, Full Thottle Magazine, Browns Trophy's and of course Rick and crew of The L.A. Hangout. This was certainly the way it used to be! Congratulations on a great job and thank you so much! MIKE LANG BENEFIT On Saturday June 12th, Wild Indian Saloon, in Largo, hosted a fund raiser/benefit for biker and owner of Wild Indian Saloon, Mike Lang. Mike has recently been afflicted with multiple, major medical conditions and not only has a long road to recovery, but a stack of bills that continues to multiply. The event went off without a hitch, thanks to Attorney John McGuire, the staff, patrons, and volunteers. There was more food then could be eaten, and more bands then are normally booked for any other gig. The food ranged from barbecue and deviled eggs to cold cuts, salads and desserts. The bands, who also deserve major recognition, include, Groove Addicts, Mojo Dragonfly, Stage Hanger 4, Loud Mouth, Jaded, Bucket List, Kristie Blue, and Bitter Suite. The atmosphere was electric, and because for the better part of the day, there was standing room only, Probable Cause, was able to raise enough to give Mike a push. Probable Cause is a local, and not so recently formed group, which dedicates their efforts to helping those in need, whether it be a motorcycle accident, or a medical condition. They’re dedicated and devoted to assisting those who otherwise have no other way to turn. Probable Cause would like to extend their thanks, not only to those involved in pulling off such a great function, but also to each and every person who showed up to support Mike, from the staff, local patrons, bands and vendors., everyone was greatly appreciated. This is not the first event for such a noble cause, nor will it be the last. Please keep your eyes open for any upcoming events, and always take care of each other.

We had a great turn out for the 13th Annual Full Throttle Soaked and Sore Ass Run this year. Of course since we changed the name of the event, no one got caught in any rain this year. We started out at Gulf Coast HarleyDavidson on SR 54 in NPR and ended in Vero Beach. We had 151 hands on the run and that made for quite a nice pay-out to the winners. Besides a few wrong directions and almost everyone who made it was sun burnt beyond belief, it was a great ride. We did have a gentelman go down on the ride home. I was filled in on this after the event but from what I have heard he is doing better and will make a recovery, we send our best wishes to him and his family for a speedy recovery. Thanks again to everyone who made the trip. We are always open to new idea on where to go with our Sore Ass Run every year so please feel free to post your location you think we should go to on our facebook fan/like page!
Full Throttle 57 Hello everyone the time has blown by so fast! So many things going on!! Last few events were very near and dear to my heart. The Bud Run 8 was exceptional!! The Mininno’s were presented with a $25,000 check raised from you the Biker community!! The support and love was huge! Please be sure to keep Adriana and the entire Mininno family in your thoughts and prayers. This precious little girl still has a long battle to go! On Memorial Day I had the honor of riding with the Defenders MC to Bushnell, Fla National Cemetery. What a great turn out and if you had never done this ride, you may want to plan
to attend Memorial Day 2011, truly moving! The Cruise for Kids was also a huge success! The Cruise for Kids is an annual motorcycle poker run in the Tampa Bay, Florida, area, sponsored by the Tampa Chapter of Credit Unions. Proceeds from the event go to support local children's charities. The event was founded in 2004 and has raised more than $200,000. One of this year’s VIP’s, was Charlie Mc Nabb. I had the pleasure to meet Charlie, his Mom and Dad, Jane and Chuck. They are truly inspirational people! Charlie is a 5yr old with Cerebral Palsy that truly stole my heart! The Free Biker event put on by Preachers Promotions at LA Hangout was another great hit! Fun was had by ALL! Lots of love was spread, this was an awesome party held to give back to the biker community!! If you hadn’t been to the NEON COWBOY, be sure to stop by, and say hello to Charlie & Kelly, you’ll be sure to have a blast out there!! On a sad note Marge Tuplin passed away, and will be sadly Missed! “Large Marge” fondly called, operated the Parts Department of Thunder Bay Custom Cycles for years...which has a continuous stream of customers in search of the elusive, hard to find parts. There will be a benefit, to show our support for her son 16 yr old Cole, in honor of his Mother!! Be sure to look next month for a recap! Take care and ride safe, until next time…

1 - If you could trade places with any other person for a week, famous or not famous, living or dead, real or fictional. With whom would it be? God!!! Because I would find out what the after life is really like, should it be there. As God I would also get rid of all the political correctness and we will get back to living life the real biker way. 2 - If aliens landed in front of you and, in exchange for anything you desire, offered you any position on their planet, what would you want? First, I would like to see what their chicks look like before I even commit myself to any position on their planet. 3 - If you won $20 million in the lottery, what would you do with the money? I would throw the coolest motorcycle show ever, and it would be a PARTY! 4 - What makes you angry? If I have to pick just one, it’s non-genuine people. 5 – What is your favorite modern motorcycle and what is your favorite antique motorcycle? My favorite modern motorcycle is the Tomahawk made by Dodge with a V10 viper engine in it. My favorite antique motorcycle of all time is the Excelsior Henderson with a square 4 engine. 6 - Tell us about one of your worst habits or qualities? The worst habit I have is probably drinking Pepsi. My worst quality is my anger management. 7 - If you could be a superhero, what would you want your superpowers to be? I would like to be super studly, for all the ladies! And my superpowers would be my schwa-da-vive, IF YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN! 8 – Tell us 5 things we would find in your refrigerator right now? Cottage cheese, beets, salami, Colby cheese and fresh fruit. 9 – If Hollywood made a movie about your life, whom would you like to see play the lead role as you and why that person? Anthony Hopkins. I think he would do the research and he would be able to bring the role to the big screen perfectly. 10 - How would you describe yourself in three words? Fat, Truthful, Prick

WE SURF THE INTERNET ... WE SWIM IN MAGAZINES! The internet is exhilarating .... magazines are enveloping. The internet grabs you .... magazines embrace you. The internet is impulsive .... magazines are immersive, and both media are growing! Barely noticed amidst the thunderous internet clamor is the simple fact that magazine readership has risen over the past five years. Even in the age of the internet, even among the groups one would assume are most singularly hooked on digital media, the appeal of magazines is still growing! Think of it this way: during the 12-year life of Google, magazine readership actually increased by 11 percent! What it proves, once again, is that a new medium doesn’t necessarily displace an existing one. Just as movies didn’t kill radio .... just as TV didn’t kill movies. An established medium can continue to flourish so long as it continues to offer a unique experience and, as reader loyalty and growth demonstrate, magazines do! FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
State of Florida Provides ABATE of Florida, Inc. With A Quarter of a Million Dollars for Motorcycle Safety and Awareness Program Tallahassee, FL, May 28, 2010 – As Florida Governor Crist signed the 2010-2011 Florida Budget (HB 5001) into law today, the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (DHSMV) recognized ABATE of Florida, Inc. for our continuing work attempting to make the roadways of Florida safer for all motorcyclists. By signing the Florida Budget into law, effective July 1, 2010, ABATE of Florida, Inc. will receive a quarter of a million dollars specifically to promote motorcycle safety and awareness. The exact language states: “2735 SPECIAL CATEGORIES: CONTRACTED SERVICES FROM HIGHWAY SAFETY OPERATING TRUST FUND . . . . . . . . . . . . 443,874 From the funds in Specific Appropriation 2735, nonrecurring funds in the amount of $250,000 are for the purpose of promoting motorcycle safety awareness through public information and education campaigns. These funds are provided to the American Bikers Aiming Toward Education of Florida, Inc. The American Bikers Aiming Toward Education of Florida, Inc. is required to provide an independent program audit to the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles to ensure that these funds were utilized to enhance motorcycle safety education. The expense of this required independent program audit may be funded from a portion of the funds provided.” This is not the first time ABATE of Florida, Inc. has received funds from the Florida DHSMV. Over the last few years, the Government of Florida has recognized ABATE’s valuable Motorcycle Safety and Awareness Program (MSAP) for saving lives of motorcyclists statewide. ABATE’s Program is implemented by ABATE’s 32 chapters throughout Florida. As in the past with this appropriation, the standard audit is a normal course of business. ABATE’s Motorcycle Safety and Awareness Program has been presented to local civic groups, many schools, and public events all over Florida. For more information about our MSAP or to schedule a presentation, please visit www.ABATEFlorida.com to contact a local chapter near you. ---With over 7,500 members, ABATE of Florida, Inc. is Florida’s largest Motorcyclists’ Rights Organization, and the fourth largest nationwide. ABATE of Florida members consist of all types of motorcyclists. Our missions include educating the public about motorcycle awareness and continuing to fight in Tallahassee for the rights of every motorcyclist and the public in general. To aid in these ends, we have an exclusive lobbyist and have founded the Motorcycle Safety and Awareness Program, both with the intentions to help make the roads safer for everyone. ###

A couple were celebrating 50 years together. Their three kids, all very successful, agreed to a Sunday dinner in their honor. “Happy Anniversary Mom and Dad,” gushed son number one .... ‘Sorry I’m running late. I had an emergency at the hospital with a patient, you know how it is, and I didn’t have time to get you a gift.” “Not to worry,” said the father. “The important thing is that we’re all together today.” Son number two arrived and announced, “You and Mom look great, Dad. I just flew in from Los Angeles between depositions and didn’t have time to shop for you.” “It’s nothing,” said the father. “We’re glad you were able to come.” Just then the daughter arrived. “Hello and happy anniversary! I’m sorry, but my boss is sending me out of town and I was really busy packing so I didn’t have time to get you anything.” After they had finished dessert, the father said, “There’s something your mother and I have wanted to tell you for a long time. You see, we were very poor. Despite this, we were able to send each of you to college. Throughout the years your mother and I knew that we loved each other very much, but we just never found the time to get married.” The three children gasped and all said, “You mean we’re bastards?” “Yep,” said the father. “And cheap ones too.” ******************************************

PEEPING TOM A judge in suburban Philadelphia has said a local school district cannot monitor students with webcams on their school-issued laptops. The schools were using the technology so it could locate missing laptops, but after a student sued the school district over privacy concerns, the judge said they can find other methods to locate the computers. I guess crime does pay!

Last month Lt. Col. William Taylor’s name was added to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall. Taylor’s name was added after the Pentagon approved his inclusion because his injuries suffered in Vietnam were the direct cause of his death almost 40 years later! The names of 328 soldiers have been added to The Wall since it was dedicated in 1982, bringing the grand total to 58,267. For additional information about the memorial, go to www.thewall-usa.com.
AGE AIN’T NOTHIN’ BUT A NUMBER Let’s see how smart you really are. Here’s a dozen age questions for you to ponder - who’s older: Cher or Mr. T .... 2) Janet Jackson or Tina Fey .... 3) Michael Jordan or Barack Obama .... 4) Sting or Terry Bradshaw .... 5) Tiger Woods or Sandra Bullock .... 6) Betty White or Clint Eastwood .... 7) Ringo Starr or Mick Jagger .... 8) Peyton Manning or Alex Rodriquez .... 9) Lady Gaga or Kevin Jonas ....10) Joe Cocker or George Straight .... 11) Dan Marino or Conan O’Brien .... 12) Jay Leno or Bill Clinton? The correct answers are listed to the right.
CLEAN UP YOUR MESS Ok ... this is just my opinion but BP Oil should be 100% responsible for the clean up of the oil spill that has devastated the Gulf of Mexico. If there was no oil spill, would BP be sharing the profits they would have made from that oil ... I think not! They caused the disaster and they should be 100% responsible for the disaster. I don’t care if the billion-dollar corporation goes bankrupt, they need to fix the problem they created! The petroleum giant is asking for the government to assist with financial aid and that’s just not right in my opinion.
UNPROTECTED I don’t understand how there could be 406 Somali Pirate attacks on ships off the coast of East Africa last year. You mean to tell me no country has a Navy that hunts out these pirate ships? If a ship is attacked and they send out a SOS, there’s no aircraft or ships in the area? These pirates have sized over $100-million and caused an undisclosed number of deaths. Wouldn’t you think these criminals would be hunted down? Aarrrgh .... the Pirate business must be good!
ANSWERS At press time: Cher is 64 and Mr. T is 58 .... Janet Jackson is 44 and Tina Fey is 40 .... MJ is 47 and the President is 48 .... Sting is 58 and Terry Bradshaw is 61 .... Tiger Woods is 34 and Sandra Bullock is 45 .... Betty White is 88 and Clint Eastwood is 80 .... Ringo is 69 and Mick Jagger is 66 .... Peyton is 34 and A-Rod is 36 .... Lady Gaga is 24 and Kevin Jonas is 22 .... Joe Cocker is 66 and George Straight is 58 .... Dan Marino is 48 and Conan is 47 .... Jay Leno is 60 and the former President is 63.
LESSON LEARNED? As long as we are talking about oil, I do not think drilling in the Gulf of Mexico should be allowed. This latest spill is my exact reasoning as these oil hungry companies have no plans in place to correct the possible problems they create. With this latest spill, BP Oil had NO emergency plan to cap the wide open well that spewed thousands of gallons of oil each and every day into the Gulf waters. It’s time to start seriously looking at alternative ways to operate our vehicles and combustible engines. Not only would it be ecologically safer, but we can maybe stop depending on foreign countries as much as we do.
