Also, don’t be a fool this 1st April. Being the victim of pranks is bad enough — and not always fun — so why not get creative and try to get in first this year... being the prankster can be such a giggle. :) Every year there seem to be more and more ‘National Days’ and I have listed a few on page 20, but there is one I will definitely be celebrating this year. National Peanut Butter and Jam day (or Jelly if you are American!) is remembered on Monday 2nd April. I don’t know where I have been — and in the past I have heard people say how lovely this mixture is — but I had never tried it until recently and I have to say it is so tasty, I am well and truly addicted! They say that Americans will have eaten over 2,000 peanut butter and jelly sandwiches by the time they graduate from high school. This fad originally derived from World War II when both peanut butter and jelly became part of the military rations list in America. Now, I can quite see why so on 2nd April, why not give it a try? I don’t try many new foods to be honest as I am a bit of a picky eater, but I am starting to become more adventurous the older I get. Something else I recently tried was an olive — now after living here for 11 years, of course I have tried olives before, but my taste buds in the past have thought they tasted really quite rank. However, I was out one night in Torre del Mar — ‘Casa Victor’ in Tore Tore to be precise — and the standard olives came out. I was extremely hungry so I nibbled at one of the green balls and well… the rest is history — they were so yummy I chomped the lot! I wondered was it just that Casa Victor had great-tasting olives or were they all like this? Whatever the answer, my taste buds had now decided to quite like this new sensation, so I was on the hunt for more places that dished

Strange News out free, great-tasting olives and what did I find? Well, I discovered that nearly all the olives with pips in I loved — not so keen on the filled ones though! I even went to Mercadona and bought the biggest jar of manzana olives that I could find and now on average, I eat about 15 to 20 olives a day. Well, this can’t be bad for me as I have read that eating green olives — the ones I like — is very good for the heart, and may even protect against osteoporosis and cancer. I have come to the conclusion that our taste buds must change as we become older, so if there was something that you tried a long time ago, well maybe it is time to try it again. Next on the list for me to try is prawns (gambas) al pil pil, because I don’t like prawns and I don’t like spice — but I keep being told how delicious it it. (Ohhhhhhh it sure is, says my loyal proofreader!) So until next month, why not expand your horizons, titillate your taste buds and try something new … you never know what new taste experiences await you!

Rich Tea A broken teapot bought for £15 has sold at auction for £575,000, after it was discovered to be one of the first ever made in America. A private collector from the south-west of England originally bought the teapot — which had a broken handle and was missing its lid — at a general auction in the Midlands in 2016. It was thought to be Isleworth pottery, which was made in a factory in Middlesex between 1766 and 1800, but the buyer had doubts. He took the piece to an expert who identified the vessel’s distinctive blue and white palm tree design as the work of Staffordshire potter John Bartlam. Mr Bartlam left England in around 1763 to set up business in South Carolina, where he became the first known manufacturer of American porcelain. Experts said it was just the seventh recorded piece of Bartlam porcelain to come to market and the only known Bartlam teapot, making it the earliest American-manufactured teapot ever to have been discovered. It was expected to reach as much as £50,000, but the hammer came down at £460,000. With fees added on, the buyer paid £575,000. Rod Jellicoe, a London dealer bidding on behalf of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, bought the teapot.
Scratcher in the Rye A library in America has had to be shut down due to an infestation of bed bugs. Pest control experts were called in to Brandon Library in Hillsborough County after the blood-sucking insects were found by staff in recently returned books. The company inspected and treated the 25,000-square foot building at an estimated cost of around $6,000. Several books had to be burned, and the branch was closed for three days.

Happy Easter For Easter Sunday! Americans spend $1.9 billion on Easter candy. That’s the second biggest candy holiday after Halloween. Many years ago pretzels were often used to celebrate Easter. Easter is the oldest, and most important, Christian holiday. The UK's first chocolate egg was produced in 1873 by Fry’s of Bristol. The tallest chocolate Easter egg ever was made in Italy in 2011. At 10.39 metres in height and 7,200 kg in weight, it was taller than a giraffe and heavier than an elephant! Good Friday is an official holiday in 12 US states; Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, New Jersey, North Carolina, North Dakota, Tennessee, Texas (Optional), U.S Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico.
The white lily, is the symbolic Easter flower. Americans eat about 16 million jellybeans every Easter. William Schrafft invented the jellybean back in the late 1800s, and his original goal was to send them overseas to our soldiers. He probably had no idea that they’d one day become almost synonymous with “Easter candy.” Now there are flavours such as; wet wipes, canned dog food, lawn clippings, toothpaste, vomit, bugger, rotten egg and stinky socks!! In medieval times, a festival of ‘egg-throwing’ was held in church. The priest would throw a hard-boiled egg to one of the choir boys, and then tossed from one choir boy to the next. When the clock struck 12, whoever held the egg, was the winner and got to keep the egg.

De CoCotta Law - Do’s & Don’ts.... ...when buying property in Spain • Ensure that the legal title is checked and that the property can be sold free of any debts and charges • Establish with an independent lawyer if the property is fully licenced and that no administrative or legal sanctions are in place • In Spain there are debts which can be placed against the property such as Town Hall and Community of Owners’ fees, and it is important to find out if all of these debts will be cleared as part of the transaction to buy • Ensure that you have fulfilled the fiscal and legal requirements such as obtaining an NIE (fiscal identification number) • If you cannot be physically present for the purchase or sale it is best to appoint a lawyer to sign the public deeds on your behalf • Ensure with your advisers if you need an Inventory if you are buying furniture and contents in the property • If the property does not have all the necessary licences and is in a rural area, ensure that your lawyer has established who is going to complete this work and who will be responsible for costs and fees • Find out what charges and taxes you will have to pay when you go into possession of the property and ensure that these are paid annually • If you are selling, check what tax you would have to pay such as Capital Gains tax and local improvement tax – Plus Valia • When you have purchased a Spanish property make sure you have a valid Spanish will to ensure that your spouse or beneficiaries can accept the inheritance • If you are leaving Spain to return to your home country you may be able to offset any Capital Gains tax with the purchase of a new residential home All of these things are important in ensuring you can enjoy your Spanish property and be able to sell or pass the property to your heirs in future. This list is not exhaustive, however, and each case is different particularly with rural properties. Water Filters For Your Home We all drink water and we all need water to survive, so why not drink healthy drinking water at no cost, directly from your kitchen tap at home? The only way to ensure pure, contaminant-free drinking water from your tap is with a point-of-use filtration system. Drinking water from a water filter has many advantages. It will help with your digestion, leave your skin feeling hydrated, protect your body from disease and lead to overall improved health — plus it tastes a whole lot better than tap water. The filter system will cleanse the water from chlorine, bad taste, odour and sediments. This also applies to water that you receive from a deposito as stored water can contain harmful bacteria and living pesticides if not chemically cleaned regularly. It is also healthier than distilled water and is more affordable than buying bottled water, which additionally helps the environment by
ditching those plastic bottles. The benefits don’t stop there. The filtration system also means that appliances — such as your dishwasher, washing machine, boiler, taps and bathroom fittings — are protected from calcium and limescale build-up as the technology removes various water impurities that can potentially get into your household water supply. These include metals, toxins, pesticides, dirt and rust etc.. Water filters can easily minimise all of the above by installing a 3 or 5-filter system, easily fitted to your water meter and low maintenance. These systems are eco-friendly and do not use any electricity — the only maintenance is once a year when the cartridge needs to be changed. To discuss having a water filter fitted in your property, call Chris who will happily discuss the options available. See main advert below

National Days In April There are so many different National days each month, let’s have a look at some of the ones listed for April 2018 National April Fools Day - Sunday 1st April Time to plan your pranks on friends and family.. have fun! National Walking Day - Wednesday 4th April At some point during this day you should try and walk for 30 minutes. The purpose of this day is to remind people about the benefits that walking has on your health. National Sorry Charlie Day - Friday 6th April This day gives us the opportunity to think about all the times that we have been rejected by someone and how we dealt with the situation. If your name is Charlie that would mean double rejection! National No Housework Day - Saturday 7th This sounds like a good day! Just put your feet up and rest. National Empanada Day - Sunday 8th.
Living in Spain this is a must to celebrate. The name empanada derives from the Spanish verb em pandar, which means to coat in bread. So what are you waiting for, find a nice tapas bar in the sunshine and enjoy an empanada filled with tomato, tuna, chicken etc.. National Pet Day - Wednesday 11th. With so many of us having pets, whether it be a dog, cat, hamster, fish or snake, this is the day to give them that extra bit of love and care. National Wear Your PJ’s To Work Day Monday 16th. Mainly celebrated in the USA as a de-stress day after taxes have been organised. A fun day which allows you to sleep in a bit longer, jump out of bed not worrying about what to wear, as you are already dressed for the day. Come on let’s start the trend here in Spain, if you do I will! :) National Picnic Day - Monday 23rd A day celebrated by having a picnic/meal outside in the lovely fresh air. Very easy to do here in Spain.

Interesting Facts... Maldives is not only the smallest country in Asia but it also the world’s smallest Muslim country that is famous for it’s religious intolerance. Written in the year 1997, The Maldives Constitution states that that it’s citizens must be Muslim, particularly and clearly forbidding following of any other religion. The first people to officially colonize the islands came from India; the real date is unknown, but it was thought to happen before 269 BC. Legend says that there was no government, only a peace-loving community of people who worshiped the Sun and the water. With an average ground-level elevation of 1.5m above sea level, it is the world’s lowest country, with even its highest natural point being the lowest high-point of any country in the world at 2.4m. Maldives is one of the safest travel destinations on the planet – the island resorts, specifically, since they are largely isolated.

Out Of The Mouths Of Babes Kids really do say the funniest things, as you will realise with this little collection. My two-year-old cousin scared us one summer by disappearing during our lakeside vacation. More than a dozen relatives searched the forest and shoreline, and everyone was relieved when we found Matthew playing calmly in the woods. "Listen to me!" his mother said sharply. "From now on when you want to go some place, you tell Mummy first, okay?" Matthew thought about that for a moment and said, "Okay, Disney World." Out shopping, my friend Darin noticed a mother with three little girls and a baby. The woman's patience was wearing thin as all the girls called "Mama" while she tried to shop. Finally, Darin heard her say, "I don't want to hear the word MAMA for at least five minutes." A few seconds went by, then one girl tugged on her mum's skirt and said, "Excuse me, miss."
The restaurant where I took my two sons for a meal was crowded with fans watching a sporting event on television. The stressed waitress took our order, lots of food passed with no sign of ours. I was trying to keep my kids from becoming restless when suddenly shouts of victory came from the bar. "Hey," commented my 11-year-old, "it sounds as if someone just got his food." My friend was having a hard time getting her daughter to drink water. At lunch one day the little one loudly exclaimed that "drinking makes mummy happy". My mom was explaining heaven to my 5-year-old niece, telling her one day she'd see her great-grandmother there. My niece replied, "Yeah and I can go see Michael Jackson too." One night after dinner, my 5-year-old ran past and let out a huge fart that stopped him in his tracks. He turned to us and said, "Sorry, that was my butt saying thanks for the food!"

It is also particularly useful for enhancing mood, promoting smooth skin when used topically, and providing grounding and uplifting feelings during meditation when used aromatically. The rich, sweet aroma & versatility of Sandalwood essential oil makes it a unique oil, useful in everyday life. Uses While there are many applications for Sandalwood essential oil on the body and inside the home, it can also be a gardener’s best friend. Studies have shown that Sandalwood essential oil can have positive effects on garden plants. In one study, researchers sprayed several species of plants with a solution of Sandalwood essential oil. After being sprayed, results showed that the essential oil helped the plants cope with environmental stress. Are You An April Fool?! April Fools' Day, April 1st sometimes called All Fools' Day, is one of the most light-hearted days of the year. Its origins are uncertain. Some see it as a celebration related to the turn of the seasons, while others believe it stems from the adoption of a new calendar.
the prank is discovered.
Here are some great April fool ideas.
Delight their taste buds with caramel onions.
Block a mouse sensor with a piece of paper and some tape.
Borrow someone’s mobile phone and change the language setting to a foreign language.
Rearrange someone's drawers to seriously confuse them when they wake up.
Tell someone there is a leak in the bathroom and place a vegetable leek under the sink.
One to be played on the children: Fill your child's usual juice cup with jelly after dinner and place it in the refrigerator. In the morning when the drink is firm, offer your little one a sip and watch him wonder what happened!
Glue all the eggs into the carton.
The French call April 1st Poisson d'Avril, or "April Fish." French children sometimes tape a picture of a fish on the back of their schoolmates, crying "Poisson d'Avril" when
Paint soap with clear nail polish so it won’t sud up and leave it in the shower. Introduce your friend to mayonnaise-filled donuts.
Hide an alarm clock in someone’s bedroom and set it for 3:00am. Paint the tips of someone’s pen and pencil with clear nail polish so none of them work. Cover a toilet seat with plastic wrap.

Solar Shade - Professional Window Tinting Control the Heat! Enjoy the comfort.... How? Most of us from Northern Europe come here for the benefits of the year round sunshine and because of this we want our homes to let in as much light as possible and not have to be stuck behind shutters and blinds. However we then have to squint because of the glare in the room, experience fading of furnishings, suffer the dis-comfort of excessive heat which we combat with air conditioning and thus drive our running costs through the roof! Well there is a long term inexpensive fix; Solar Control Window Tinting supplied and fitted by us at Solar Shade to glass curtains, glazed balconies, picture windows, conservatories, cars, yachts, really if there's glass we can tint it! What does Solar Control Window Tinting do? As it sounds, it controls the suns heat entering the room through the glazing and therefore making it a comfortable temperature reducing 40+ Celsius to below 30 degrees, which then allows the air conditioning to run on economy thus saving money, but, keeping that all important light and view. The material is bonded internally or externally (depending on glass construction) to the glass surface and selects the infra-red part of
the spectrum, the heat causing part and reduces it, therefore bringing down the internal room temperature but not the light levels excessively. The other unique part is it will retain winter heat too by insulating the glass and upgrading older single and double glazed windows to better energy efficiency. It also provides a safety feature of holding broken glass together in the event of an accident for instance older single glazed glass is made safe especially in areas of constant use by children. Once installed it’s maintenance free. It adds privacy to your home by keeping out prying eyes, practically removes fading by preventing 99% of ultra violet light, and will enhance the look of the building. The Tint film can also be supplied as a Solar blind if you want the flexibility of only seasonal use with the same benefits as already described. Go on improve your living environment, make living in the sun truly comfortable. If you'd like to know more email ian@solarshadetinting.com or give us a call on 644 54 61 76 and ask to speak to Ian See our advert on this page

Pug & Cat Walk The Caminio de Santiago Sebastian Smetham and Finn Paus — together with Bandito the pug and Luigi the cat — recently completed a remarkable walk which has changed their lives.
and other routes on our journey south.
The couple were living in Sitges, near Barcelona, with Bandito but following the death of Finn’s parents, they decided to take stock of their busy lifestyles and the idea of walking the length of the Camino de Santiago was born. They also acquired Luigi to help with the healing process, and Pug and Cat became firm friends.
“By coincidence we met up with old friends who live near Rubite and eventually found our own paradise in the Sedella campo where we have continued the Pug and Cat business. Bandito and Luigi have had several viral videos, which means they can now buy their own food and toys and get sponsored to advertise animal products and brands.
“Through their relationship and our own circumstances, we decided to make some changes in our lives,” Sebastian reveals. “We bought a dog trolley and tent and sold our belongings, before setting off on the Camino de Santiago. We had no idea what we would do after the 700km walk but we felt as though each step was in the right direction. The animals continued to bond and the four of us became closer. We faced all the challenges together — sore feet, rain and tent life — and we walked 20km a day for 46 days! “People we met wanted to follow the journey so we set up Pug and Cat Facebook and Instagram pages and now have almost 200,000 followers. The walk was as challenging as it was rewarding and by the end, we knew we couldn't go back. “We bought an old builders’ van on the side of the road with the last of our money and travelled south. We clocked up another 700km walking and camping in Sierra Nevada, Sierra de las Nieves, Sierra Blanca
“Now we continue Pug and Cat walks and are enjoying the wonderful Axarquia area that we are proud to call home. We hope to support the AAR animal charity in the future and have started a local company, Casa Care, a tailor-made property management service in the Axarquia. (See main advert below) “We are making the most of this wonderful area — having lived all over Spain for more than 10 years, we have no doubt that this place has a very special vibe which is reflected in the happiness of all the people we have met.”

Axarquia Solicitors Law Office DAMAGE CLAIMS AGAINST A COMMUNITY OF OWNERS
lack of maintenance could cause harm to a third party or dwelling.
Communities of Owners are civilly liable for damages caused to third parties or even members of their own community. When these damages are derived from the malfunction of community owned items or where there has been negligence in the care of community property. In general, community property could be any of the following; antennas and communication systems, elevators, roof terraces, roofing, heating installations, enclosures of common areas, buildings or urbanizations, foundations, pipes and ducts, corridors, locks, external coverings, structures, (Article.396 CC, lists in particular pillars, beams, slabs, and weight bearing walls).
If the Community of Owners does not comply with the obligations established in the Article.10 of the Horizontal Property Law (LPH) and damages do occur, we cite two cases to demonstrate the difference in claims depending on the affected party
The regulations which govern Communities of Owners can be found in the Horizontal Property Law. Communities of Owners must always maintain the guarantees and ensure that all common constructions and areas are in perfect condition. Article.10 of the Horizontal Property Law (LPH) establishes that the Community of Owners is obliged to carry out the necessary works to sustain the proper maintenance and conservation of the property and its services, so that it meets the necessary structural, habitability, accessibility, safety and security conditions. If damage to a person or to a dwelling occurs as a result of neglect to maintain the common installations, areas, or property in perfect condition, the Community of owners can be held civilly responsible, but the Community President or administrator could also be directly or indirectly responsible. They are required by law to take the appropriate measures to ensure that no harm can occur to a third party by ensuring any urgent repair works, or maintenance is carried out immediately when there is evidence that the
1. – If the affected party is an owner in the community and falls due to inadequate maintenance by the Community of Owners i.e. a broken tile or poorly preserved community entrance floor, or if damage is caused to their property due to a leaking community drainpipe, a leak from a community terrace, or a leak from a community façade, they should file a claim for damages against the Community based on Article. 10- LPH. 2. - If the affected party is a third party, i.e. not an owner inside the community, the method of reclamation from the community is governed by different criteria and the period for a claim is limited to ONE YEAR FROM THE DATE OF THE DAMAGE OR INJURY Therefore, if you have problems with a Community of Owners, it is important to have an expert lawyer to advise you and manage your claim, to protect your rights and to be able to obtain full compensation for the damages caused. Do not forget to contact Marbella Solicitors Group, with offices throughout the Costa del Sol and with more than 15 years of experience legal advice to clients. For further information, advice or assistance on this process, please do not hesitate to contact us by Tel 952 901 225 or e-mail at mail@axarquiasolicitors.com to make an appointment. We will be pleased to study your particular case and explain in detail how this process works.

Portugal is still extremely cheap — like Spain — with a pint costing between 2-3€. Flights are cheap too and it’s approximately only one hour from Malaga by plane or just four and a half hours in the car!
The Sentinella magazine has been proven to
work with the right like-minded people who aren’t afraid of hard work and commitment and who at the same time will enjoy exploring the new area and will go out of their way to get to know the area and to become part of the community. Internet Agents The Question: Local Static Office for the Few or World-wide Office for Everyone? Last November we posed a question for all you people who want to sell a property. Do you think estate agents should spend lots of money on exhibitions and High Street offices or should it be spent on the Internet? The response was overwhelming: ‘Spend it where you get the best results’. More house-hunters than ever are now starting their search for a new home by looking online. Recent research revealed that usage of property portals in, for example, the UK, is now at a record high with 47% of the population having used a property search website in the last 12 months. Some 2.6m people in the U.K. browse property portals at least once a day. Other countries world-wide are similar. Therefore, large and successful real estate companies have started moving away from the emphasis on the high street and exhibitions (which only reach a small audience) to extensive marketing activity of various forms on the Internet.
By following this strategy, Buy A Home Spain is attracting buyers from a much larger geographical area - in particular, the whole of Europe. In addition, they are also placing a large emphasis on collaborations with over 1,000 other estate agents throughout Europe (and in particular, Spain, the UK and Scandinavia) who will send their buyers to look at your property. So, if you have a property to sell or to rent please contact Buy A Home Spain via their website, on the phone, social media or if you prefer they still have their office in Torre del Mar, opposite the bus station. Come in and have a chat. Web: www.buyahomespain.com Tel: 952 54 75 54 or 680 210 414 See advert on pages 66 & 67

Rocket — the proper name of which is arugula — is a leafy green plant closely related to radish, kale and cauliflower. Arugula is grown on a large scale for commercial consumption but it also exists as a wild species throughout the world. It is predominantly used in the Americas, Europe and North Africa. It has a wide range of health benefits that frequent eaters of this cruciferous vegetable can enjoy. Arugula is packed with vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. It is a good dietary choice for a healthy body and keeping the mind clear and focused. It contains high levels of folic acid and antioxidants like vitamin C, vitamin K and vitamin A, which makes it integral in the fight against free radicals. It is packed with carotenoids, as well as many other minerals like potassium, manganese, iron and calcium, all of which are beneficial and necessary elements in a person’s diet. It also contains phytochemicals, which are beneficial in preventing cancer. It is low in oxalates too — chemicals that actually inhibit the absorption of minerals into the body. All in all, arugula is a low-calorie, nutrient-rich food. Because arugula is a great source of antioxidants, it can greatly increase a person’s ORAC value (oxygen radical absorbance capacity), a method of measuring antioxidant capacities. Antioxidants function to maintain a healthy balance of enzyme reactions within cells, while actively seeking out and destroying the disease-causing free radicals that can attack your system. Antioxidants also work to bolster your defences against simple illnesses like the common cold as well as more complex afflictions such as cancer, heart diseases and premature ageing. The presence of vitamin K in arugula gives an anti-inflammatory boost to your body. Vitamin K also spurs an osteotropic activity in cells, meaning that it promotes bone formation. The gradual degradation of neural pathways —
found in conditions like Alzheimer’s disease — can be slowed down by an increase in intake of vitamin K. Arugula’s combinative effects of low oxalate levels (allowing more minerals into the system) and the presence of so many minerals in the plant itself make it a strong support system for healthy bones. Sufferers of osteoporosis can see improvements, and arugula can be used as a preventative step as well, ensuring bone health and strength before the age/activity-based effects of bone degeneration become serious. The phytochemicals found in large quantities within arugula inhibit the activity of cancer-causing cells. Phytochemicals are substances like thiocyanates, sulforaphane or indoles that are effective in countering cancer-causing tendencies in the body’s own processes. Studies suggest that these compounds help fight prostate, breast, cervical, colon and ovarian cancers. Another benefit of arugula is the presence of B-Complex vitamins that promote metabolism, aiding different cell activities including energy production, fat synthesis, the production of red blood cells and many other vital processes for cell and metabolic health. Arugula is a well-known source of carotenoids, which slow down the process of macular degeneration. The inclusion of arugula in your diet will inevitably have a positive effect on any attempts at weight loss. By satisfying so many nutritional needs, it is an easy way to watch your health and keep your system balanced, without making drastic changes to your diet.

Ana is also pregnant with their daughter, whom they plan to name Phoebe. Sadly the plot is predictable and a tad uninteresting. Star Rating **/*****

New Facials - LED Light Therapy & Apple Stem Cell After a stressful start to the year I was in need of some therapy. Browsing through Facebook one day I came across a video on Hair and Beauty’s site about its new Nuyu LED Light Therapy treatment. It looked very interesting, so I called owner Sarah to find out more.
mask in itself is very lightweight and you can adjust it to sit comfortably on your face yourself throughout. After my first session I was buzzing. I looked totally fresh and my skin didn’t feel as tight as it sometimes did — I even went out that night with no make-up part from a little mascara!
It was just what I was looking for — something to rejuvenate and rehydrate my tired-looking skin, and as a bonus, it also helps with swelling (for a bruise on my face actually, but that’s another story in itself!).
Session 2: Izzi & Capelli – Aylene did my next session. For some reason I had woken up with a red mark down the side of my nose. ‘No, problem’, Aylene said when I told her. ‘The mask will get rid of that’. And lo and behold, after 15 minutes of the red light and only five of the blue, my swelling was almost gone and the red mark had disappeared completely. Another successful session, therefore, which proves that it is great if you are going out for a night and feel you need a last minute-glow; this will certainly do the trick.
I arrived at Izzi & Capelli’s Salon in Torre del Mar. This treatment can be performed in both salons, but for a more private session, the salon in Puente don Manuel is recommended. Sarah took a close-up photo of my face so we could compare the photos at the end of the treatment. She made a short examination of my face to decide which LED light/s would be best to use, as each light serves a different purpose — red: rejuvenating and boosting collagen into the skin; blue: anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial, used to treat mild acne, or a combination of both helps circulation, hydrates and helps to minimise fine lines and wrinkles. Sarah chose 10 minutes of red and then 10 minutes of blue for my first session. If you book eight sessions in April at 20€ each, you will receive two sessions FREE. The light therapy is a new, painless and relaxing technology using the three LED light modes to rejuvenate the face and neck. It includes a galvanic current and uses oxygen therapy and a hydrogel mask — great for boosting collagen into the skin to achieve a flawless complexion. Session 1: Torre del Mar Izzi & Capelli – My initial thoughts when seeing the mask was that it looked a bit scary; it reminded me of the Phantom of the Opera face! Sarah started by moisturising my face and then applied a gold bio-collagen cooling facial mask. It was a bit chilly but Sarah had already wrapped a blanket around me to keep me nice and snug throughout the treatment. The collagen mask is suitable for all skin types and is anti-ageing, helping to reduce wrinkles. It moisturises and hydrates, firms and tones the skin, helps to reduce the visible appearance of blemishes and helps to reduce inflammation. When the mask is applied, it immediately forms a protective layer and helps to replace the collagen that decreases with age. Once combined with the LED light, it tightens the skin and facilitates the removal of toxins. The bruise on my cheekbone was painful while Sarah was moisturising before the treatment, but 20 minutes later, although the bruise was still there, it had considerably reduced in size and the pain had also reduced somewhat. When the light was initially turned on it was very bright. I did have cotton wool over my eyes and in less than a minute, I could no longer see the light. The LED light is in no way harmful to the eyes. The LED
Session 3: Izzi & Capelli – I was used to the steps of the treatment now and on this day, I had 17 minutes of the red and 3 minutes combination of the blue and pink. Each time I have it I can’t believe how my face feels afterwards — it almost feels like I don’t have a ‘face’ on. It feels so soft. Session 4: The Hair and Beauty Studio, Puente don Manuel – For my fourth session I went to the Hair and Beauty Studio in Puente don Manuel so I could compare the treatment in each salon. I have to say again if you are looking for a relaxed, calming treatment, Puente is for you. Sarah today recommended a different treatment, still a facial but which would be perfect to have before the LED light treatment for even better results as it gets to the core of your skin first. The Apple Stem Cell facial has actual apple stem cells, hyalauronic acid, silk proteins and vitamins and after a 30 minute session plus a LED treatment well my face felt supurb. During each of the sessions I had a lovely relaxing hand massage, but to be honest, you could also combine a session with a manicure or pedicure. I also got to take home the collagen masks after each treatment to apply again in my house. To conclude, I have been extremely happy with the treatments and they have done so much for me. After just four sessions, you can see the difference between the ‘before’ and ‘after’ pictures, so imagine if I’d had the 10 sessions on offer this month! It’s definitely worth a go, girls! It’s recommended to have two treatments a week for five weeks, and then a maintenance treatment every month or two. Aylene and Sarah provide these treatments including the caci non surgical facelife. s Now van b e l Ce en & Dono Th Jason Australian-born actor and singer Jason Donovan, born in 1968, made his first television appearance at age 11 in a guest role on the Australian series ‘Skyways’ in 1980. Prophetically, his on-screen sister was played by his future ‘Neighbours’ co-star Kylie Minogue. He also appeared in the series ‘I Can Jump Puddles (1981)’ and ‘Golden Pennies (1985)’ before entering the cast of ‘Neighbours’ in 1986 as Scott Robinson, giving him his big break. He quickly became the series’ first real heart-throb, and viewing figures broke all records for the episode when he ‘married’ Charlene Mitchell — played by Kylie. Having made his mark on the small screen, Jason began a career in music in 1988, since then he has sold over 3 million records in the UK alone. His début album ‘Ten Good Reasons’ was one of the highest-selling albums of 1989, with UK sales of over 1.5 million copies. He has had four UK No. 1 singles — one of which was ‘Especially for You,’ a duet with Kylie. Jason is the first Australian male artist to ever hold both single and album chart #1 positions in the UK simultaneously. He has also appeared in several stage musicals, most prominently in the lead role of ‘Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat’ for two years in the early 1990s, for which he received great reviews. The show also gave him his third solo UK No. 1 single with one of its songs, ‘Any Dream Will Do.’
Jason also hit the headlines when suing ‘The Face’ magazine in 1992 after they claimed he was gay. He won £200,000 in damages, but the case had severe consequences for Jason as he confessed later that the backlash from it — he was accused of being homophobic — led to him starting to use cocaine. In a 2007 interview in the magazine ‘Marie Claire’ — and also in his autobiography ‘Between The Lines: My Story Uncut’ — Jason stated that suing ‘The Face’ was the biggest mistake of his life. He admitted that by 1995 he had a serious drug problem; he attended model Kate Moss's 21st birthday party in Los Angeles early in that year, where he suffered a drug-induced seizure. He has since said that he gave up drugs in 2000 when his-then pregnant partner— and now wife — Angela Malloch threatened to prevent him from playing any part in his child’s life. The couple married in 2008 and now have two children. In 2006, Jason took part in ‘I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here’ and finished in third place. During an interview on ‘The Steve Wright Show’ on BBC Radio 2 (January 2008), he claimed that his appearance on ‘I'm A Celebrity’... had revitalised his career. In 2017, Heart 80s Radio was launched and Jason began presenting ‘Sunday Mornings’ in addition to his 80s ‘Rewind Sunday Evening Show’. He took a break in January this year, but has confirmed he will be returning to Heart at some point in the future.

In an interview with Piers Morgan, Davidson — who is now married to his fifth wife Michelle Cotton — also blamed his former spouses for the breakdown of their marriages. The 64-year-old revealed the shock news while saying he hopes to stay with his current partner forever. Jim wed Michelle back in 2009, nine years after splitting from Tracy Hilton, with whom he spent a decade and has three children. The Celebrity Big Brother winner before that walked down the aisle with Alison Holloway in 1987, but split the following year. Jim was also married to Julie Gullick (1981 to 1986) and Sue Walpole (1971 to 1972), and he has one child with each of them. The star said he "absolutely" thought it was always the woman's fault for his failed relationships. On his relationship with Michelle, Jim described her “very nice” but “impatient” and “fiery like me”. The father-of-five went on: “She's a bear-poker and her mum says, ‘Well you need that’. "I hope I'm with Michelle for the rest of my life, there's no one better I'd want to spend it with." Sad Bill Coronation Street stalwart Bill Roache has reportedly left the soap on compassionate grounds after his 50-year-old daughter Vanya died recently from liver failure. The star has been a resident of the ITV soap for over 50 years as Manchester-born Ken Barlow, and has been through his share of heartbreak and plot twists on the screen as well as tragedy in real life. A source said: “Bill is utterly heartbroken. No father should have to go through the loss of one child, let alone two. “ITV is giving him all the time he needs but he’s understandably very upset.” The actor lost his 18-month-old daughter Edwina in

Beale fixation Actress Jacqueline Jossa has opened up about her “obsession” with EastEnders character Ian Beale, just weeks after leaving the BBC soap. The pregnant actress, who played EastEnders’ Lauren Branning from 2010 until last month, said she loved the character and consequently Adam Woodyatt, the actor who has played him since the show’s inception in 1985. Speaking in her first video blog Jacqueline's World, the 25-year-old was asked by a fan who she would like to play other than Lauren in the BBC show. The soap star responded: “I’d like to be Ian Beale’s daughter. I don’t know why I’ve got this obsession with him — I just love him; Adam used to call me his ‘honourable Beale.’ “Also, I did go out with both the Neales — I had a baby with Peter Beale and my screen sister Abi had a baby with Steven!”

My Joints Hurt So Much It Must Be About To Rain... With the recent downpour of rain I have had many clients with arthritis complaining that their joints hurt more, some even claim their joints let them know when it is about to rain, so why is this and is there any truth in it? Osteoarthritis is caused by basic wear and tear over a period of time which damages the cartilage in joints, causing stiffness and pain. It occurs when the cartilage gets damaged and it becomes thinner and rougher a bit like rust. It is the bodies healing process that causes problems when the underlying bone tries to repair the cartilage and outgrows, changing the shape of the joint and causing the two main symptoms of Osteoarthiritis, pain and stiffness. Why does our joint pain get worse in colder / wetter weather? One of the theories that has been put forward is that inflamed joints swell as barometric pressure drops. The nerve endings in your joints become more sensitive in lower barometric pressures, and therefore, this increases the swelling and sensitivity irritates
the nerves around the joints, causing pain. Barometric Pressure is basically the weight of the atmosphere around us and what is known is that as the bad weather comes in this pressure drops. The important point here is that the pressure will often fall before the weather turns which is why having arthritis is almost as good as watching the Weather Forecast ! Massage, therapeutic ultra sound, tens machine and heat including hot wheat bags or hot water bottles, can help aching joints. By Amanda Payne Edge See main avert below

Building Work On Rustic Land - Can It Be Done? I am often asked, both by vendors and potential purchasers, about whether changes can be made to a building. Do you think we could add a window, here? What about making this double patio doors? We were thinking of paving here, and putting in steps down to the lower terrace… and so on. If you own a house in the countryside in Andalusia, my advice is don’t just act, think first! We have always, all of us, been under the impression that here no one will mind if we add bits to our gardens and houses ‘willy-nilly’, as we please. But this is not the case. In our own countries we would never do anything without first seeking planning permission and that is the same here, and always has been that way. The difference is that now the authorities have tightened up their control, laws are now very strict and it is not advisable to do anything without first consulting your local town hall. The best course of action is, first of all, to make an informal appointment with the local architect working for your town hall. Take an
interpreter if you do not speak enough Spanish. Ask them if you could add that bit of paving to your patio, or those steps down to your pool, or open that extra window. If it is an informal discussion, you will be informed BEFORE it is too late, and you will not get into trouble. At least then you will know what you can and can’t do. If your country house is on protected land, you won’t be able to get permission to do any work other than repairing the existing house and patios. If you are unsure if you are on protected land or not, ask at the town hall. Then, if they tell you you can do the work, put in the correct planning request and pay the licence fee. That way you will sleep at night, and when it comes to selling your house, you will know there are no hidden issues that might come crawling out of the woodwork as soon as your buyers’ lawyer starts to investigate. For further advice, contact your lawyer, or please feel free to contact unspoilt Andalusia, or find Toni at the Trapiche market every Tuesday. New Modification Of The Inheritance Law In Andalucia This year, inheritance law has been changed concerning the direct family of the person deceased. Children, grandchildren, parents and married couples now will not have to pay inheritance tax provided that each of them receives less than 1 million euros. Before this modification, the maximum per heir was 250.000€ For this exemption to be applied, each heir cannot have a pre-existing estate of more than 1 million euros (previously 402.678,11 euros.) If the total amount to be inherited is more than 1 million euros, tax will only be paid on the amount above this figure. Therefore, if a person inherits an estate with a value of 1.500.000€, inheritance tax will only be paid on 500.000€. This exemption does not apply to inheritances by siblings, nephews, uncles and cousins. They will pay the same amount of inheritance tax as before. However a deduction of 7.993,46€ from the tax threshold may be
applied in these situations, and if the heirs are siblings aged over 65, there is a reduction of 95% if the property inherited is their habitual residence. Donations In Andalucía, we normally pay more for an inheritance than for a donation or gift. However, there is an exemption of 99% of this amount if parents donate to their children in order for them to buy their first habitual residence. The person receiving the funds must not be more than 35 years old or be disabled by more than 33%. The new law also brings a modification in donations. There is an exemption of 1 million euros for a donation from parents to their children for the creation or enlargement of companies. This donation must be done via Public Title Deeds and the company must still be in business at least five years later. If you have any questions based on your specific circumstances, we are happy to receive your enquiries at any time. La Vaqueria’s New Look! So, just when I think there can be nothing else to write about at La Vaqueria Josie comes up with another new and exciting idea! This month we are starting our tapas days; Tuesdays and Fridays from midday to 5pm when we will be serving vegetarian and vegan tapas in addition to everything on the menu. La Vaqueria is run by a mother and daughter team, Su and Josie who both have vivid imaginations, making a visit to this transformed old cowshed a unique experience. Packed with arts and crafts and serving home made food (ecological where possible) this art cafe is not just a feast for the stomach but a feast for the eyes as well. Su has an informal art group on Thursday afternoons and she is happy to give out advice on your own projects, meanwhile Josie is busy making menus, preparing sumptuous dishes and experimenting with new vegetarian and vegan flavours. If you fancy a breakfast, snack or lunch that is just that little bit different look no further, La Vaqueria, Benamargosa is only closed on Mondays. See main advert below

Jokes h a ha :) These following jokes are in homarge to the late, great Sir Ken Dodd, who sadly died last month at the age of 90. RIP "Honolulu, it's got everything. Sand for the children, sun for the wife, sharks for the wife's mother." “It’s ten years since I went out of my mind. I’d never go back.” Did you know that a laugh is something that comes out of a hole in your face? Anywhere else and you're in dead trouble! Television is like a great monster, eating your gags as fast as you say them. I told the Inland Revenue I didn't owe them a penny because I lived near the seaside. My Dad knew I was going to be a comedian. When I was a baby he said, 'Is this a joke?' I have kleptomania. But when it gets bad, I take something for it. I've done some brave things in my time. I played Nottingham Labour Club. I was the one who shouted 'Three cheers for Mrs Thatcher'. And it was during the bingo. Just read a book about Stockholm Syndrome, it started off badly but by the end I really liked it. I haven't spoken to my mother-in-law for eighteen months. I don't like to interrupt her. I've seen a topless lady ventriloquist - Nobody has ever seen her lips move! I thought it would be a good idea to go into
Politics, maybe I am a little old... but you know... I'd love to be Chancellor of the Exchequer - That way I'll be united with my money! When asked if Ken believed in safe sex his answer came: 'Of course I do; I have a handrail around the bed! Did you hear about the shrimp that went to the prawn's cocktail party? He pulled a mussel. “I used to think I was marvellous in bed – until I discovered all my girlfriends suffered from asthma.” “I always feel at home in theatres like this, because we’re about the same age.” “Five out of every three people have trouble understanding fractions.” “It turns out that if you bang two halves of a horse together, it doesn’t make the sound of a coconut.” “My teeth are all my own. I just finished paying for them.” “Did you hear about the Frenchman who makes his own gravy? The Count Of Monte Bisto.” “The man who invented Cats’ Eyes got the idea when he saw the eyes of a cat in his headlights. If the cat had been going the other way, he would have invented the pencil sharpener.” "Love makes the world go round, or it does if you are a man over 50."

s e p o c s Horo by Juanita Banana of www.AbsoluteAxarquia.com ARIES: March 21-April 20 Take time to put issues into perspective and form a viable plan whilst being kind to yourself and those around you. A good time to nurture your spiritual side and to seek and find enlightenment TAuRuS: April 21-May 21 This is the perfect time to show everyone just what you can do. Concentrate on hopes and dreams as this is the right time to bring them to reality. Allow your tribe to help you with these projects which can help everyone become more successful GEMINI: May 22-June 21 State your opinions and speak up for yourself but be careful not to overstep boundaries where other people’s emotions and feelings are concerned. If you are an artist or writer, April is a good time to be especially creative CANCER: June 22-July 22 You’ve taken on a lot recently meaning April will be an extremely ambitious and very busy month. Plan some time out, perhaps a holiday in early summer. Be attentive at work to avoid unnecessary issues arising LEO: July 23-August 23 Avoid unnecessary ego clashes that could drain your energies without furthering your interest. Treat yourself mid-month, which doesn’t mean you need to spend a lot of money. Go for your dreams during the third week of April and feel wonderful afterwards VIRGO: August 24-September 22 Branch out and begin new adventures this month Virgo, perhaps some changes to your lifestyle, future plans, ambitions and friendships. It won’t be easy but it will be grounding and beneficial to the next stage of
your life LIBRA: September 23 - October 22 Instead of hiding your feelings all the time, the most important thing for Librans this month is to practice letting people know what’s going on for you inside. Focus on how you relate to people and plan something different to include them – a Bohemian cocktail party? SCORPIO: October 23 - November 21 You’re feeling passionate this month, not limited to an emotional relationship, but any project or interest you are focused on. A methodical approach serves you best in all things SAGITTARIuS: November 22 December 21 Your personal relationships are in harmony with your mindset, giving you an extra boost of confidence this month. You are cheerful, communicative and overflowing with goodwill, lighting up the lives of those around you CAPRICORN: December 22 - January 20 You are about to be liberated from a learning curve that has been going on since last August. The result will leave you stronger and with a cast iron infrastructure. It’s time to party and enjoy yourself AQuARIuS: January 21 - February 19 Everything is going well for you Aquarius as your revolutionary thinking puts you square in the avant-garde during the second week of April and feeling comfortable with it. An intense love connection could open your eyes to something new PISCES: February 20 - March 20 You are almost always right but, being human, you are sometimes fallible. Remain open to others’ opinions and consider the idea that taking things in a different direction might improve them. Someone may ask for your advice, which would be best offered graciously
