A big welcome to the February edition of The Sentinella Axarquia Edition.
February is often known for being a month dedicated to — and all about — love, but it’s not only about Valentines and sweethearts; instead it can also be a month for self-love and self-care.
This is your time to treat yourself. These “treats” can last just a few hours, days or a whole week … or even months; it’s totally up to you. Here are some examples: enjoy some “you” time — time alone. This could be taking a walk in the park, going to the cinema or maybe just going out for a nice meal. Learning to enjoy your own company — and doing activities you enjoy when you're alone — is crucial for cultivating self-love.
Whatever you choose to do and however you do it, enjoy it!
If you are looking for somewhere that little bit special to take your loved one this Valentine´s Day, book a table at the Secret Garden Restaurant in Canillas de Aceituno. This is a beautifully romantic setting decorated with twinkly lights and candles, plus it has the most perfect hosts. Not only are they offering a special menu on Tuesday 14th February, these special menus will also be available on the weekends of the 10th and 11th and the 17th and 18th February too. On Saturday 18th they will be joined by singer Malou Swart for an extra-special romantic evening, and booking is essential.
You can see The Secret Garden´s main advert and contact details on page 12
Or, turn to page 23 and you will find Medicaña in Torrox Costa have a set menu and special show on 14th February. See advert for more.

Animal antics
A snake in McDonald's and a frog hidden in bunch of bananas were among RSPCA's 'weird' rescues of 2022.
The charity said its officers had been called to animal incidents ranging from seal pups to foxes which had got their heads stuck in various objects and a 5ft-long boa constrictor found in a McDonald's restaurant.
The frog had travelled 4,300 miles from the Dominican Republic in the Caribbean to the UK on a bunch of bananas.
Nacho, a six-month-old seal pup, was discovered next to a riverbank by a pub in Keynsham, Bristol, in January. Two days later another seal pup was found on a cliff in Weybourne, Norfolk, 50ft from the beach. The charity was also called out to a fox trapped in a watering can in Colchester, Essex, in February, and another fox was found with its head stuck in a large can of dog food in Barking, London.
RSPCA inspector Dale Grant said it was a warning of "how dangerous litter can be".
In July, customers eating at a McDonald's in Bognor Regis, West Sussex, were confronted by a 5ft-long boa constrictor slithering through the restaurant.
The non-venomous snake was passed on to staff and placed in a box before it was collected by the RSPCA.
Kebab hell
A man who gorged on 124 kebabs in 31 days says it left him 'psychologically' damaged. Des Breakey, 36, who ate four meat wraps every evening as part of his "Kebabathon", said the challenge had hurt him both "psychologically" and "physically."
He went on the 'kebabathon' to raise money for the charity Francis House Children's Hospice, and consumed a massive 250,000 calories in the process.
The dad of two said he had felt a huge sense of "accomplishment" when he scoffed down his final kebab after raising more than £1,000. The engineer, who even went without a Christmas dinner to make space for kebabs, said he plans to "retire" from extreme eating challenges.
"It was a breeze for the first two weeks, but the last two weeks it got a bit messy” he said.
Astute asparagus
Strange News (Continued)
A fortune teller who predicts the future using asparagus has revealed her top forecasts for 2023.
Jemima Packington, 65, claims to be able to divine knowledge of the future by tossing spears into the air and interpreting how they land.
Over the years she has correctly predicted major events such as Brexit, as well as Harry and Meghan stepping down as senior members of the Royal Family. Several of her predictions for 2022 – such as Croatia winning the World Cup and Boris Johnson clinging on as Prime Minister – had less success however.
This year she has predicted the Lionesses will continue on from their Euro 2022 win by bringing home the Women’s World Cup, and added that the Conservatives will hang onto government.
The Asparamancer has also said there will be a health scare for Princess Anne, and
rationing may be considered due to food shortages.
In 2019, she correctly predicted cricket success for England, Big Brother returning to our screens and US romantic musical ‘A Star is Born’ winning an Oscar.
Before that she correctly foresaw Andy Murray winning Wimbledon, the Euro crisis and the credit crunch.
Jemima, from Bath, began making predictions aged eight and says she inherited the gift from her elderly aunt who used to read tea leaves.
She said: “My technique has not changed.”

Valentine Facts
To get you in the mood for lurrrrrve!
73 per cent of people who buy flowers for Valentine's Day are men, while only 27 per cent are women.
About 1 billion Valentine's Day cards are exchanged each year. That's the largest seasonal card-sending occasion of the year, next to Christmas.
About 3 per cent of pet owners will give Valentine's Day gifts to their pets.
Alexander Graham Bell applied for his patent on the telephone, an "Improvement in Telegraphy", on Valentine's Day, 1876.
California produces 60 per cent of American roses, but the vast number sold on Valentine's Day in the United States are imported, mostly from South America. Approximately 110 million roses, the majority red, will be sold and delivered within a three-day time period.
Cupid, another symbol of Valentines Day, became associated with it because he was the son of Venus, the Roman god of love and beauty. Cupid often appears on Valentine cards holding a bow and arrow because he is believed to use magical arrows to inspire feelings of love.
In the Middle Ages, young men and women drew names from a bowl to see who their valentines would be. They would wear these names on their sleeves for one week. To wear your heart on your sleeve now means that it is easy for other people to know how you are feeling.
Random Jokes :)
Everyone loves a joke or two!
An Irish daughter
An Irish daughter had not been home for over 5 years. Upon her return her Father cursed her heavily.
'Where have ye been all this time, child? Why did ye not write to us, not even a line? Why didn't ye call? Can ye not understand what ye put yer old Mother through?'
The girl, crying, replied, ‘Dad ... I became a prostitute’
'Ye what!? Get out a here, ye shameless harlot! Sinner! You're a disgrace to this Catholic family.'
'OK, Dad... as ye wish. I only came back to give mum this luxurious fur coat, title deed to a ten bedroom mansion, plus a 5 million savings certificate. For me little brother, this gold Rolex. And for ye Daddy, the sparkling new Mercedes limited edition convertible that's parked outside plus a membership to the country club ... (takes a breath) ... and an
invitation for ye all to spend New Year's Eve on board my new yacht in the Riviera.'
’What was it ye said ye had become?' says Dad.
Girl, crying again, 'A prostitute, Daddy!.'
‘Oh! My Goodness! Ye scared me half to death, girl! I thought ye said a Protestant! Come here and give yer old Dad a hug!’
Why do men fart more than women?

How To Stay Young
Something we would all like to know!
1. Throw out non-essential numbers. This includes age, weight and height. Let the doctors worry about them. That is why you pay 'them.'
2. Keep only cheerful friends. The grouches pull you down.
3. Keep learning. Learn more about computer, crafts, gardening, whatever. Never let the brain idle. 'An idle mind is the devil's workshop.' And the devil's name is Alzheimer's.
4. Enjoy the simple things.
5. Laugh often, long and loud. Laugh until you gasp for breath.
6. The tears happen. Endure, grieve, and move on. The only person, who is with us our
entire life, is ourselves. Be ALIVE while you are alive.
7. Surround yourself with what you love, whether it's family, pets, keepsakes, music, plants, hobbies, whatever. Your home is your refuge.
8. Cherish your health: If it is good, preserve it. If it is unstable, improve it. If it is beyond what you can improve, get help.
9. Don't take guilt trips. Take a trip to the mall, even to the next county; to a foreign country but NOT to where the guilt is.
10. Tell the people you love that you love them, at every opportunity.
AND ALWAYS REMEMBER:
Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.

Why do we feel so much nostalgia for the 80s? It was such a stress-free decade with bold fashion statements and new hair trends. Remember mixing music on cassette tapes, recording your message on home answering machines, and not to forget how neon colours rocked with scrunched-up leg warmers over spandex tights. So satisfying.

Random Joke :)
A man asked a waiter to take a bottle of Merlot to an unusually attractive woman sitting alone at a table in a cozy little restaurant.
So the waiter took the Merlot to the woman and said, 'This is from the gentleman seated over there'
..... and indicated the sender with a nod of his head.
She stared at the wine coolly for a few seconds, not looking at the man, then decided to send a reply to him by a note. The waiter, who was lingering nearby for a response, took the note from her and conveyed it to the gentleman.
The note read: 'For me to accept this bottle, you need to have a Mercedes in your garage, a million dollars in the bank and 7 inches in your pants'.
After reading the note, the man decided to
compose one of his own in return.
He folded his note, handed it to the waiter and asked him to deliver it to the lady.
It read:
'Just to let you know things aren't always what they appear to be. I have a Ferrari Maranello, a BMW Z8, a Mercedes CL600, and a Porsche Turbo in my several garages. I have beautiful homes in Aspen and Miami, and a 10,000 acre ranch in Louisiana. And there is over twenty million dollars in my bank accounts and portfolio.
But, not even for a woman as beautiful as you, would I cut off three inches. Just send the wine back.'

Interesting Facts... From 1899 to 1955, South Sudan was part of Anglo-Egyptian
Sudan and under joint British-Egyptian rule. In 2011 Sudan, split into two countries and South Sudan became the world’s newest internationally recognised country.
The split followed a 2005 peace agreement, which ended Africa’s longest-running civil war – the Second Sudanese Civil War. The conflict lasted 22 years from 1983 to 2005, killed at least 1.5 million and displaced over four million people.
This had followed a previous civil war that had been fought in Sudan from 1955 to 1972 between a guerrilla movement and the Sudanese government.
In 2013, civil war broke out yet again, when President Salva Kiir accused his former vice-president, Riek Machar, of plotting to overthrow him. This led to yet another conflict that has displaced at least another four million people.
South Sudan is one of the poorest countries in the world when measured by GDP per capita based on purchasing power parity (PPP). In 2020, is ranked eighth-poorest.

Rivera Real Estate - Online Agency
Rivera Real Estate is an online, family run estate agency, established in 2022 and owned by husband-and-wife combo, Richie Worthington and Alejandra Cañas del Castillo.
Having worked in the Spanish real estate sector for one of the longer serving real estate companies in the area, specifically Torrox, Richie, originally from Buckinghamshire in England, has gained years of experience listing and selling properties in La Axarquia. Alejandra, originally from Malaga City, has garnered many years of experience in the retail management sector, both in the UK and Spain.
As an online agency (based in Caleta de Velez), we offer a competitive commission to vendors. Unlike larger agencies, we have a select portfolio of properties for sale which enables us to concentrate fully on those listed with us whilst offering a more personal touch. Should a vendor decide to sell exclusively with Rivera Real Estate, we do not insist on a six month or twelve-month contractual commitment for exclusivity. We figure, if you are happy with us, you will stay with us!
To those looking to buy a property in La Axarquia area, we offer a relaxed and informative selling style.
Buying property abroad can be a daunting process, especially when the language and processes are foreign. We understand this and will accompany you throughout the process, from beginning to end.
Our philosophy is quite simple. We aspire to provide an honest, knowledgeable, and reliable service based on open communication. Above all, we aim to deliver a service which we ourselves would wish to receive.
You can find a selection of testimonials below:
“I cannot thank Richie enough for everything he did to make our purchase as smooth as possible, and I'd have no hesitation in recommending him to both buyers and sellers alike. He is one of those rarest things in the Spanish property market: An honest, helpful, and reliable estate agent!” Steve Bee
“Communication with Richie Worthington was of the highest quality. He is friendly, efficient, and businesslike. He managed well to balance our needs as the buyer at the same as managing his responsibilities to other parties. We have bought and sold numerous properties in several countries and have never experienced service of this level.”
Hugh Philpott“Richie and his Spanish wife Alejandra provided an excellent service in every way. In spite of my being in the U.K. at no time did I feel left out of the proceedings, being closely informed every step of the way. I recommend this charming couple in all aspects whether buying or selling. You will be in safe experienced hands, willing to go the extra mile for you. I have known Richie for some years and his reputation doesn't falter. I wish them ongoing success. They so deserve it.”

Fruit&VegFactsCarrotts Carrotts
Carrots were first grown as medicine for an assortment of ailments.
Carrots were not originally orange.
Purple carrots were common even 1000 years ago in what is now Afghanistan, with yellow carrots to follow into the 1500s
You can plant an actual carrot in the ground and it will make seeds.
Mel Blanc, the voice of cartoon character Bugs Bunny, did not like carrots.
Carrotts consit of 88% water.
They're a weight-loss-friendly food and have been linked to lower cholesterol levels and improved eye health.
Carrots are the richest source of beta-carotene. The human body turns beta-carotene into vitamin A.
The vegetable is great for eyesight and your skin, it also boosts the immune system.
Cooked carrots are better for you than raw. Cooking the vegetable releases more beta-carotene. The raw vegetable only gives you 3% beta-carotene, but cooked you get up to 40%.
It’s estimated that the U.S. produces about 1.3 million tons of carrots and turnips a year.
Eating carrots in excess, can cause a condition called carotenemia. This refers to yellowish discoloration of the skin.
You´re As Old As You Look
Have you ever been guilty of looking at others your own age and thinking, surely I can't look that old? Well... you'll love this one!
My name is Alice Smith and I was sitting in the waiting room for my first appointment with a new dentist. I noticed his dental diploma, which bore his full name. Suddenly, I remembered a tall, handsome, dark haired boy with the same name had been in my secondary school class some 30-odd years ago.
Could he be the same guy that I had a secret crush on, way back then? Upon seeing him, however, I quickly discarded any such thought.
This balding, grey haired man with the deeply lined face was far too old to have been my classmate. After he examined my teeth, I asked him if he had attended Morgan Park
Secondary school.
'Yes, yes I did. I'm a Morganner!' he beamed with pride. 'When did you leave to go to college?' I asked, he answered, in 1965. Why do you ask?' 'You were in my class!' I exclaimed. He looked at me closely, then the ugly,
“WHAT DID YOU TEACH???”

The Lincolnshire coastline extends for over 50 miles. Throughout Lincolnshire many places attract great interest, with seaside resorts being popular destinations for residents, locals and visitors, alike. Hamlets, villages and towns attract numerous visitors, as well as the city of Lincoln, with its magnificent Castle and Cathedral. Tourism forms a great part of this county’s interest, constantly having visitors, from global origins.
Farming plays a very large part of Lincolnshire’s success, too. Numerous businesses developments have now emerged, adding to the county’s success. Skegness is very important and, along with the surrounding area, has thousands of people visiting.
Gin and Liquorice Gin, amongst several others. With personal preferences to the fore, these productions certainly do not disappoint, in any way. The flavours and textures are appreciated and recognised by many connoisseurs, plus, with Liqueurs, Stonewall Gin and Mrs. Riggall’s, both gin and rum lovers will justifiably enjoy these productions. Cu29 is a further, extremely popular gin, available from the Spirit of Skegness Company.
At the Spirit of Skegness Distillery visitors can enjoy, and take part in, Gin and Rum School Experiences, plus Tasting Parties, Distillery Tours and Sampling Sessions. A Private Bar and Event Space, is also available. Some of the exquisite productions include Blackberry Gin Liqueur, Liquorice Gin and Skegness Chocolate Rum. Gift packs and gift vouchers
Skegness is located on the east coast and is (world) famous for its Jolly Fisherman and Clocktower. Entertainment and holiday homes are a major attraction for this town and surrounding area. The golden beaches are a very popular draw, throughout every year. Many pubs, eateries and restaurants offer much-needed beverages and foods. With liquid refreshment in mind, I located the Skegness Distillery.
The Skegness Distillery offers so much –as I discovered. The productions include London Dry Gin, Raspberry Gin, Passionfruit & Mango Gin, plus Rhubarb
are available, too – now, there’s a thought! These are just some of the beverages and Distillery. Their excellent website has all details and availability.

While visiting Jim Crow-era Mississippi in 1955, Black teen Emmett Till (Jalyn Hall) innocently flirts with white shopkeeper Carolyn Bryant (Haley Bennett). He is subsequently brutally murdered. For Emmett’s mother Mamie (Danielle Deadwyler), his lynching ignites a powerful and historic crusade for accountability.
On 28 August, Emmett Louis Till, a 14-year-old African-American, was abducted, tortured and lynched for seemingly offending
a white woman in a grocery store; his dead body, mutilated and unrecognisable, was discovered in the Tallahatchie river three days later.
It is to the credit of filmmaker Chinonye Chukwu (Clemency) that Till has no truck with depicting and therefore sensationalising the heinous crime. Instead, Chukwu reframes the story through the prism of Emmett’s mother Mamie’s fight for justice. It’s a smart move, finding hope in a tragedy without cheapening it, while playing out the narrative on a bigger civil-rights canvas — one that provides a subtle but stunning showcase for Danielle Deadwyler in the lead role. Exemplifying the film’s ‘less-is-so-much-more’ approach, the Harder They Fall actor elevates some pedestrian historical-drama writing into something compelling and touching in equal measure.
The ability to bring history into the here-and-now by intertwining the personal and the political is one of the film's main strong suits.

Was January a tough month for you? Traditionally supposed to be the most depressing month of the year, cold, dark, and summer seems a long way off. Even here in Spain the days are shorter, and the temperatures lower. The post-festive buzz, has well and truly worn off, the credit card statement is in, and most of our New Year’s resolutions went up in smoke by the end of Three Kings. Was one of your resolutions to cut back on the booze? Did you try, and found you couldn’t? Has your drinking increased? Are you struggling to stop completely, even for a short period of time? Is your alcohol use, making you, or those around you, miserable?
Maybe lockdown was the trigger for you, feelings of isolation and loneliness led to a change in your drinking habits, perhaps larger volumes, or more frequent binges. Possibly it was the move to Spain, living here full-time is entirely different to a two-week vacation, and it is easy to get sucked into daily-drinking. Or it could be for a completely different reason.
If you regularly drink more, or for longer than you planned to; have tried to cut back (or stop) and found you couldn’t; drink to deal with feelings and emotions; or if your drinking is interfering with your life, then you could have a problem with alcohol. There is a solution, Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) - a 12 Step fellowship; a peer-support group that has helped millions of people, all over the world, with their problem drinking. If the consequences of your alcohol use are getting too much, if you are ready to stop drinking, or want support to help you try, then don’t wait until it gets any worse.
Here two members of AA, talk about how their drinking led them to AA, and how they now enjoy life and all the benefits of being sober……..
“My name is Lydia; I am 65 years of age and I have been sober for 23 years. I am not perfect, nor will I ever be, and neither is my life, but that is ok. I have all that I need, and a few of my wants. The point is, I now have a life. I came into AA, lonely, hopeless, and broken. Today I have hope, gratitude, friends, and so much more.
The simple fact is, I was completely sick of the consequences of my drinking, and I had to be ready to stop. I had to do it for myself; and I had to give myself completely to this simple program. I would say to anyone worried about their drinking, if it is costing you more than money (relationships, health, jobs), it is very likely that you have a problem. If you decide you want to give AA a try, you will never be alone again, you don't have to continue in the misery.
The fact is, untreated alcoholism, will (and does) kill in the end. I have lost friends because of their drinking. Alcoholics Anonymous and the 12-step program have saved my life, and the lives of countless others. It has given me a life with a purpose, and it's available to anyone who wants it!”
“My name is Jacob, I am in my 50’s, happily married with no children. I run a successful business, based on the Costa del Sol. But my life wasn’t always like that.
The comments first started in my twenties, people would say; maybe I should have water with my wine, or a bit more tonic in my gin. A couple even called me an alcoholic, but I brushed it off. I was functioning, I still held down a good job (two in fact), I still had a wife and a car!
By the end, I had to have a drink in the morning to stop the shakes, my whole day was centred around where the next drink was coming from. I wasn’t eating properly, and there were a lot of arguments, slamming doors, and shouting. I was lying and being dishonest, I was leading a double life. Till my wife made me get help.
The most amazing thing about AA is there are no rules. Not on what you must do, or what you should believe. It is not like a church or a school, it is a group of people trying to get themselves off the drink, and into a better way of living, using a spiritual program, and a set of principles as guidelines…. And it is completely free.
If you think you might need to look at your drinking, or need some help to stop, then get in touch with AA. Come along to a meeting (or a few) and just listen.”
There are meetings of Alcoholics Anonymous, with friendly people who will understand, held daily throughout the Costa del Sol. Meetings are free to attend, and anyone who thinks they may have a problem with alcohol is welcome.

Honesty Is The Best Policy?
Golf ethics question for you
What if you were playing in the Club Championship Tournament Finals and the match was halved at the end of 17 holes. You had the honour and hit your ball a modest two hundred & fifty yards to the middle of the fairway, leaving a simple six iron to the pin. Your opponent then hits his ball, lofting it deep into the woods to the right of the fairway. Being the golfing gentleman that you are, you help your opponent look for his ball. Just before the permitted five minute search period ends, your opponent says: "Go ahead and hit your second shot and if I don't find it in time, I'll concede the match." You hit your ball, landing it on the green, stopping about ten feet from the pin. About the time your ball comes to rest, you hear your opponent exclaim from deep in the woods: "I found it!". The second sound you
hear is a click, the sound of a club striking a ball and the ball comes sailing out of the woods and lands on the green, stopping no more than six inches from the hole. Now here is the ethical dilemma: Do you pull the cheating b******* ball out of your pocket and confront him with it or do you keep your mouth shut?
How To Survie A Heart Attack When You Are Alone
Good advice here, share with family and friends, it could save their life.
Let's say it's 7:25 pm and you're going home (alone of course) after an unusually hard day on the job.
You're really tired, upset and frustrated.
Suddenly you start experiencing severe pain in your chest that starts to drag out into your arm and up into your jaw. You are only about 5km from the hospital nearest your home.
Unfortunately you don't know if you'll be able to make it that far.
You have been trained in CPR, but the guy that taught the course did not tell you how to perform it on yourself.
HOW TO SURVIVE A HEART ATTACK WHEN ALONE
Since many people are alone when they suffer a heart attack without help, the person
whose heart is beating improperly and who begins to feel faint, has only about 10 seconds left before losing consciousness. However, these victims can help themselves by coughing repeatedly and very vigorously.
A deep breath should be taken before each cough, and the cough must be deep and prolonged, as when producing sputum from deep inside the chest.
A breath and a cough must be repeated about every two seconds without let-up until help arrives, or until the heart is felt to be beating normally again.
Deep breaths get oxygen into the lungs and coughing movements squeeze the heart and keep the blood circulating. The squeezing pressure on the heart also helps it to regain a normal rhythm.
Using this method heart attack victims can get help or to a hospital.
Donation Of Spanish Property
I am a British resident and I own Spanish property. Should I gift it to my children during my lifetime?
If you gift Spanish property to your children, there are various things that one needs to think about.
As a Spanish non tax resident, regardless of whether you sell or gift your property, you will need to account for 19% Spanish Capital Gains tax (CGT). A capital gain is calculated by taking the sale price and deducting the purchase price and related fees and costs. In addition to the 19% CGT, one needs to pay plusvalía. Plusvalía is essentially a municipal CGT.
If you gift your property during your lifetime, you will also need to account for lifetime inheritance tax (IHT) in Spain, often referred to as a ‘donación’ in Spanish. This is generally very low in Andalusia as there is a 99% exemption when gifting to children.
This is only part of the picture for British residents in that British residents need to also consider their potential obligations and tax liabilities in the UK.
UK CGT is ordinarily charged at either 18% or 28% on second residential property, depending on whether the person is a basic or a higher rate income tax payer. An individual will normally be given credit for the Capital Gains tax paid in Spain to avoid double taxation.
No lifetime inheritance tax in the UK would be payable and this is known as a PET - a Potentially Exempt Transfer. Provided that
you live for seven years after the gift, it would not fall into your estate for the purposes of calculating UK IHT.
With property values continuing to rise, there is an increasing number of people who need to think about IHT. UK IHT at death, above applicable exemptions, is charged at 40% and 36%.

One Day Only - Molly´s Roadhouse In Coin
Kat Smith has purpose-built a £100k land rover for a trip to South Africa leaving on February 6th, primarily to raise funds for an orphanage called the Little Angels in Uganda
Kat Smith a mechanic, has been working on land rovers for 32 years, and is from New Ash Green, however also has a property in Spain.
The 55-year-old has built a land rover with a shower inside – the first of its kind –to take through the continent and will stop off to volunteer at an orphanage on the way. Kat and her friend Nicole Taylor intend to be away for six to nine months depening on the visa situation.
Kat decided whilst planning a trip to South Africa that she would go out of her way to start looking at orphanages and she found an unsponsored orphanage called the Little Angels in Uganda.
They don´t have cooking facilities, and cook on an open fire on the floor, and have seven or eight children per bunk bed, which are just slats of wood without mattresses. The children don´t have any pens or paper, and the school is just rubble with a blackboard. Kat coming from a background of fostering children and working with young offenders, this was something on a scale she had never seen before. So she made it her point to find out how bad it really was, and to put it out there and she thought she would love to volunteer with them, which she has planned to do.
She is holding a charity event at Molly’s Roadhouse in Coin on February 4th and has set up a Gofundme to raise money for the orphanage.

Who Needs Dependence?!
We are delighted to have just reserved a most beautiful cortijo deep in the countryside in Granada province for a young couple looking to do something new. The couple purchasing are part of a growing ‘breed’ of clients. These clients have discovered, since Covid, that they can work from home – all they need is a good internet connection. But that’s ALL they need from anyone else, as this group of people don’t want to be dependent on others, they want to be SELF SUFFICIENT!
And what better place to do this than in the countryside of Andalusia?
A house that is self sustainable – solar and photovoltaic power generation, natural spring or well water, lots of land on which to grow one’s own vegetables and fruit, keep chickens and goats.. but still work from home on something else if they want … it’s paradise! All you need is to be young or fit, full of the joys of life and the outdoors, and lots of enthusiasm, and this group of people are bubbling over with all of these wonderful traits!
This particular couple were lucky to find a house that meets all of these requirements already. But of course, it is equally possible to create your own independent world in almost any country house. All you need is a little fertile land, a house that can be insulated, and your own water source. We hope to be offering more of just such properties, so if you have one that might fit this new group of house hunters, do get in touch!
We are certainly living in interesting times and Covid, for all its negativities, has made many people think again about the modern way of living. Perhaps this new trend of people, who are looking for comfort, the latest self-sufficiency technology and a new way of life, will become a definite growth trend as we move further into this new, and different century. We are planning to be ready to offer just such solutions in what is still an amazing and beautiful part of the world.

Loose talk
Actress Linda Robson has issued a stark warning to certain former members of the Loose Women panel ahead of the release of her tell-all book, In All Honesty.
The ITV star, 64, has insisted that she 'doesn't care' about hurting feelings or ruffling feathers as she's set to tell the 'truth.' Lifting the lid on the details included in the memoir, Linda shared: “A few people have annoyed or upset me, and they’d better watch out for themselves, because they’re in the book and I’m coming for them.
“But mostly I’ll be nice about everybody," she told her Loose Women co-star, Kaye Adams, on her podcast How To Be 60.
Linda's book announcement comes after rumours that she had a bitter falling-out with her lifelong friend and Birds of a Feather co-star Pauline Quirke — which she has since denied.
She went on to confirm that Pauline simply wanted out of her acting career, and that was the sole reason why she didn't join in on the TV special.
"She's had enough —it's long hours,” said Linda. “She's concentrating on her drama academies.”
Victim Vegas
Comedian Johnny Vegas has opened up about receiving his ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder) diagnosis, saying ‘it answers a lot of questions’ and, upon receiving it, ‘suddenly everything made sense’. According to the NHS, the condition can make sufferers restless and have trouble concentrating.
The actor recently revealed he is in the ‘early stages’ of working through medication. The 52-year-old comedian and Benidorm actor added it was ‘always kicked around as a notion’ prior to him finding out that he has the condition.
Speaking on BBC Breakfast, Johnny shared that his diagnosis ‘answers a lot of questions about behavioural issues’ he has had. The comedian added: ‘It’s that sense of disorganisation and doing basic tasks… it’s how strong your filter is, I think.
‘When you don’t have a filter at all… very simple things become very time-consuming. ‘(I’ll say) “I’ll shift that cup,” and then you have 10 other ideas and you haven’t shifted that cup, and then three weeks later that cup’s still there and somebody’s like, “Why haven’t you shifted that,” and it’s become this monumental task and it’s built up.
‘I always knew I was disorganised… but I’m only just on the verge of learning about it.’ Johnny added that he has the same agent as Sue Perkins, who had ‘suggested’ he get tested for ADHD as she had also been diagnosed with the condition.
Former Great British Bake Off presenter Sue told her Twitter followers last week: ‘Once I had the diagnosis, suddenly everything made sense – to me and those who love me.’
Footballer’s fortune
Newly released accounts reveal how much former footballer David Beckham's company made in 2021 through lucrative partnerships and new contracts raking in millions of pounds.
Both David, 47, and wife Victoria Beckham, 48, are directors for their company Beckham Brand Holdings Limited, reports The Mirror. The company, which includes the "David Beckham business and brand", "investment in the Victoria Beckham global fashion and beauty brand" and "ownership participation" in football club Inter Miami FC, made an after-tax profit of £19.1m — up from 11.6m in 2020 — with a revenue of £34.3, up from £11.4m.
Through all the couple’s separate businesses and brand deals, Brand Beckham's weekly earnings work out at roughly £653,846.
Carol’s countdown
Carol Vorderman has opened up about her non-monogamous lifestyle and revealed she has five boyfriends, whom she's aptly nicknamed her 'special friends'.
The maths whizz enjoys having an open love life and likes dating multiple partners at once. The 62-year-old has previously said she isn't looking to settle down into a marriage again, and has worked out her own dating 'system' in recent years.
Appearing on Michelle Visage's latest Rule Breakers, she discussed the 'system' she’s had in place for the past decade.
The Countdown star explained that she is in long-term relationships with several of her ‘special friends’. "One's been 11 years, one's seven years — it's a happy place,” she revealed, adding: “I'm not into one-night stands."
Carol first tied the knot at 24 to Christopher Mather, a Royal Navy officer, but the pair split 12 months later. She then wed management consultant Patrick King in 1990 at age 30, with the couple welcoming two children together before going their separate ways in 2000.

The husband leans over and asks his wife, 'Do you remember the first time we had sex together over fifty years ago? We went behind the village Tavern where you leaned against the back fence and I made love to you.'
‘Yes’, she says, 'I remember it well.'
‘OK,' he says, 'How about taking a stroll around there again and we can do it for old time's sake?'
‘Oh Jim, you old devil, that sounds like a crazy, but good idea!'
A police officer sitting in the next booth heard their conversation and, having a chuckle to himself, he thinks to himself, I've got to see these two old-timers having sex against a fence. I'll just keep an eye on them so there's no trouble. So he follows them.
The elderly couple walk haltingly along, leaning on each other for support aided by walking sticks. Finally, they get to the back of the Tavern and make their way to the fence.
The old lady lifts her skirt and the old man drops his trousers. As she leans against the fence, the old man moves in.. Then suddenly they erupt into the most furious sex that the policeman has ever seen. This goes on for about ten minutes while both are making loud noises and moaning and screaming. Finally, they both collapse, panting on the ground.
The policeman is amazed. He thinks he has learned something about life and old age that he didn't know..
After about half an hour of lying on the ground recovering, the old couple struggle to their feet and put their clothes back on.. The policeman, is still watching and thinks to himself, this is truly amazing, I've got to ask them what their secret is.
So, as the couple passes, he says to them, 'Excuse me, but that was something else. You must've had a fantastic sex life together. Is there some sort of secret to this?'
Shaking, the old man is barely able to reply, 'Fifty years ago that wasn't an electric fence.'
A hippie gets on a bus and spies a pretty young nun. He sits down next to her, and asks her: "Can we have sex?"
"No," she replies, "I'm married to God." She stands up, and gets off at the next stop. The bus driver, who overheard, turns to the hippie and says: "I can tell you how to get to have sex with her!"
"Yeah?", says the hippie.
"Yeah!", says the bus driver. "She goes to the cemetery every Tuesday night at midnight to pray, so all you have to do is dress up in a robe with a hood, put some of that luminous powder stuff in your beard, and pop up in the cemetery claiming to be God."
The hippie decides to give it a try, and arrives in the cemetery dressed as suggested on the next Tuesday night.
"I am God," he declares to the nun, keeping the hood low about his face. "Have sex with me."
The nun agrees without question, but begs him to restrict himself to anal sex, as she is desperate not to lose her virginity.
'God' agrees, and promptly has his wicked way with her. As he finishes, he jumps up and throws back his hood with a flourish.
"Ha-ha," he cries. "I'm the hippie!"
"Ha-ha," cries the nun. "I'm the bus driver!
Paddy's in the bathroom and Murphy shouts to him. "Did you find the shampoo?"

A few minutes before the church services started, the congregation were sitting in their pews and talking. Suddenly, Satan appeared at the front of the church. Everyone started screaming and running for the front entrance, trampling each other in a frantic effort to get away from evil incarnate. Soon the church was empty except for one elderly gentleman who sat calmly in his pew without moving, seemingly oblivious to the fact that God's ultimate enemy was in his presence..
So Satan walked up to the man and said, 'Do you know who I am?'
The man replied, 'Yep, sure do.'
'Aren't you afraid of me?' Satan asked.
'Nope, sure ain't.' said the man.
'Don't you realise I can kill you with one word?' asked Satan.
'Don't doubt it for a minute,' replied the old man, in an even tone.
'Did you know that I can cause you profound, horrifying AGONY for all eternity?' persisted Satan.
'Yep,' was the calm reply.
'And you are still not afraid?' asked Satan.
'Nope,' said the old man
More than a little perturbed, Satan asked, 'Why aren't you afraid of me?'
The man calmly replied, 'Been married to your sister for 48 years.
A hillbilly farmer who wanted to get a divorce paid a visit to a lawyer. The lawyer said, 'How can I help you?'
The farmer said, 'I want to get one of them dayvorces.'
The lawyer said, 'Do you have any grounds?'
The farmer said, 'Yes, I got 40 acres'
The lawyer said, 'No, no, you don't understand, Do you have a suit?
The farmer said, 'Yes, I got a suit, I wears it to church on Sundays.'
The lawyer said, 'No, no, I mean, do you have a case?'
The farmer said, 'No, I ain't got a case, but I

got a John Deere.’
The lawyer said, 'No, I mean, do you have a grudge?'
The farmer said, 'Yes, I got a grudge, that's where I parks the John Deere.'
The lawyer said, 'Does your wife beat you up or something?'
The farmer said, 'No, we both get up at 4:30.' By now the lawyer is getting frustrated but tries one last question. The lawyer said, 'Is your wife a nagger?'
The farmer said, 'No, she's a little white gal, but our last child was a nagger and that's why I wants a dayvorce.'

Charlie was installing a new door and found that one of the hinges was missing. He asked his wife Mary if she would go to B&Q and pick up a hinge.
Mary agreed to go. While she was waiting for the nice young man to finish serving a customer, her eye caught a beautiful bathroom vanity tap set... When the man was finished, Mary asked him, "How much is that vanity set?”
The young assistant manager replied, "That's a gold plated set and the price is £500.”
Mary exclaimed, "My goodness, that is very expensive. It's certainly out of my price bracket."
She then proceeded to describe the hinge that Charlie had sent her to buy. The manager said that he had them in stock and went into the storeroom to get one.
From the storeroom the manager yelled. "Lady, do you wanna screw for the hinge?"
Mary paused for a moment and then shouted back, "No, but I will for the vanity set."
