We would like to wish everyone that is reading this edition of The Sentinella Axarquia the happiest of New Years … welcome 2023! What will this year bring us, we ask ourselves? We just hope that it brings us all happiness, prosperity and success and especially for all businesses who choose to advertise with us in 2023. We love to see business thriving — that’s our ultimate goal. Our job is for us to advertise your business throughout the whole of the Axarquia in print and online, and distribute it each month to the young and the old so they can see exactly what services you have to offer and how you can help them with the daily services you provide. This means more sales for the advertiser and that’s what makes us happy — happy advertiser = happy customer = happy reader of The Sentinella. Everyone’s a winner!
New Year, new you! The start of a new year means you can look back on the past 12 months and really think about what life changes you would like to make. Many of you will be thinking about starting — or might have already started — your New Year resolutions. These could be the “usual” ones: to save more money, stop smoking, drink less, lose weight, get fit etc, or maybe it’s as big as changing career or moving abroad. Whatever yours may be, the important thing to remember when taking on these new challenges is that Rome wasn’t built in a day, so take your time, think it through and be absolutely sure you want to see it all the way through.
Maybe you have been thinking about a career move, setting up your own business or enjoying a change of scenery. Have you ever thought about running your own ‘The Sentinella’ magazine in a region near you?

Flight fugitives
Spanish police are searching for 14 people who ran from a commercial plane after an emergency landing - which was forced by a woman 'faking' that she was about to give birth.
The Pegasus Airlines flight, from Morocco to Turkey, landed at Barcelona's El Prat airport soon after the woman claimed she was going into labour.
Authorities say that, once the plane touched down, a group of 28 people exited and "tried to flee".
Police managed to stop half of the group, but 14 escaped officers at the airport and remain at large.
The woman, who doctors later found was pregnant but not about to give birth, was arrested on suspicion of public disorder offences.
Spanish authorities said five of the people who were caught agreed to be put back on the flight, from the Moroccan city of Casablanca to Istanbul.
The rest are being processed for non-admission to Spain.
According to authorities, it is expected they, along with the woman who allegedly faked giving birth, will be put on another Pegasus flight out of the country.
The Spanish government's office did not reveal the nationalities of the passengers.
Lizard power
Officials in a Florida city said a recent "large scale outage" for power customers was caused by an iguana that wandered into a substation.
The city of Lake Worth Beach said on Twitter that the city's power company, Lake Worth Beach Electric Utility, dispatched repair crews to tackle the major incident.
The city said the outage was caused by an iguana that wandered into the 6th Avenue Substation and came into contact with equipment.
The city's outage tracking map confirmed power was restored later in the day. Green iguanas, native to Central America, South America and some Caribbean islands, are considered an invasive species in Florida.

Unicorn permit Rules are rules. Animal control officials in Southern California have granted permission for a little girl to keep a unicorn at home, provided she follows strict guidelines.
Los Angeles County Animal Care and Control shared a letter it received from a child named Madeline.
The girl wrote: “Dear LA County, I would like your approval if I can have a unicorn in my backyard if I can find one. Please send me a letter in response.”
Director Marcia Mayeda replied with a letter along with a pre-approved unicorn license, a heart-shape license tag and a plush toy unicorn — until Madeline finds a real one. Photos of the license and Madeline’s letter were posted to the agency’s social media. The licensing letter included five conditions: “1. The unicorn must be cared for in compliance with all animal caretaking regulations set forth in Los Angeles county Code Title 10.
2. The unicorn is given regular access to sunlight, moonbeams and rainbows.
3. The unicorn is fed one of its favourite treats
— watermelon — at least once each week.
4. The unicorn’s horn must be maintained to be in good health. This requires polishing at least once a month with a soft cloth.
5. Any sparkles or glitter used on the unicorn must be non-toxic and biodegradable to ensure the unicorn’s good health.”
Mayeda commended Madeline for her “sense of responsible pet ownership.”

NewYear UselessFacts
Asalwaystheyareuseless butamazing!
Roughly 45% of Americans make New Year’s resolutions, and 25% of them break them by mid-January.
The earliest known New Year’s celebrations date back to 2000 BC in Ancient Mesopotamia.
Superstition dictates that at midnight on New Year’s Eve, all doors to the house must be opened to assist the old year in finding his way out. Until the old year leaves, the new year will be unable to come in.
In parts of Italy, people welcome in the New Year by throwing old and unwanted things out
of their windows. By throwing out the old, they make room for new and lucky things to enter their households and lives in the coming year.
Many people ring in New Year by popping open a bottle of champagne. Americans drink close to 360 million glasses of sparkling wine during this time.
Each year about 1 million people gather in New York City’s Times Square to watch the ball drop.
“Auld Lang Syne” meaning ‘times gone by’, is traditionally sung at midnight on New Year’s Eve. It was written by Scottish poet Robert Burns in 1788.
The largest celebration in Australia is held in Sydney. The “Midnight Fireworks” are regularly watched by approximately 1.5–2 million people at Sydney Harbour.
Mexicans and Spanish celebrate New Year’s Eve, by eating a grape on each of the twelve chimes of a clock’s bell during the midnight countdown, while making a wish with each one.
The month of January is named for the Roman god Janus. Janus presides over doors, beginnings, and endings, and he is depicted as having two faces: one looking toward the new year, and one looking back at the old.

New Year´s Resolutions
Here are 10 tips to help get you started when making yours…
1. Be realistic
The surest way to fall short of your goal is to make your goal unattainable. For instance, resolving to never eat your favourite food again could be a bad choice. Strive for a goal that is attainable, such as avoiding it more often than you do now.
2. Plan ahead
Don't make your resolution on New Year's Eve. If you wait until the last minute, it will be based on your mindset that particular day. Instead, it should be planned well before 31st December arrives.
3. Outline your plan
Decide how you will deal with the temptation to skip that exercise class or have one more cigarette. This could include calling on a friend for help, practicing positive thinking and self-talk.
4.
Make a "pro" and "con" list
It may help to see a list of items on paper to keep your motivation strong. Develop this list over time, and ask others to contribute to it. Keep your list with you and refer to it when you need help keeping your resolve.
5. Talk about it
Don't keep your resolution a secret. Tell friends and family members who will be there to support your resolve to change yourself for the better or improve your health. The best case scenario is to find yourself a buddy who shares your New Year's resolution and motivate each other.
6. Reward yourself
This doesn't mean that you can eat an entire box of chocolates if your resolution is to diet. Instead, celebrate your success by treating yourself to something that you enjoy that does not contradict your resolution. If you've been sticking to your promise to eat better, for
example, perhaps your reward could be going to a movie with a friend.
7.
Track your progress
Keep track of each small success you make toward reaching your larger goal. Short-term goals are easier to keep, and small accomplishments will help keep you motivated.
8.
Don't beat yourself up
Obsessing over the occasional slip won't help you achieve your goal. Do the best you can each day, and take each day one at a time.
9.
Stick to it
Experts say it takes about 21 days for a new activity, such as exercising, to become a habit, and 6 months for it to become part of your personality. Your new healthful habits will become second-nature in no time.
10. Keep trying
If your resolution has totally run out of steam by mid-February, don't despair. Start over again! There's no reason you can't make a "New Year's resolution" any time of year.
Best of Luck!

Parsnips are native to Europe and Asia and were introduced to North America in the 17th century.
They are available all year-round, having a peak season in winter.
Parsnips were once more popular in Europe than either carrots or potatoes.
It is an biennial plant that is strongly-scented and grows to over 1.5 meters in height.
Parsnips need to be stored in a cold, dark place. They are best kept in the coldest part of the fridge, where they will keep for two weeks or more.
Parsnips can be baked, boiled, pureed, roasted, fried, grilled, or steamed.
Roasted parsnips are considered an essential part of Christmas dinner in some English-speaking parts of the world
The potential health benefits of parsnips include anticancer, anti-fungal and anti-inflammatory properties, as well as reducing blood cholesterol level.
Half a cup of sliced, cooked parsnips has 3 grams of fiber and only 55 calories. They are a good source of vitamin C (11% of the recommended daily allowance), folate (11%), and manganese (10%).
Since most of the vitamins and minerals are
found close to the skin, many will be lost unless the root is finely peeled or cooked whole.

Trailer Trash
I want to be trailer trash because:
They did not cause any of the problems that our country faces today.
They did not get mortgages they couldn't afford.
They did not run banks to the ground with greed.
They did not use investors for their personal benefit.
They don't even belong to the unions that ask too much of their companies.
I'm tired of paying mortgage bills, utility bills, property taxes.
I want to live more simply, pack up the dogs and move into a motorhome.
I don't mind being called 'trailer trash', but I wanted to get your opinion.
At Hemp Paradox, we are especially experienced on educating people around the potential benefits of nutritional supplements extracted from species of Hemp.

Drinks: Mead And Variations
Mead is recognised, widely, as an alcoholic beverage, produced utilising honey, to a great advantage. Meads can incorporate fruits, grains and also spices, plus other ingredients, in their production. An overtone of honey is predominant and Mead can be classed as a medium to sweet wine, in my opinion. The ABV can vary, from quite low to over 20%, in some instances. Mead is known to be an ancient production and has evolved, through centuries, to the very popular beverage it is today.
NIDHOGGR TRADITIONAL MEAD (17% vol)
I found to be – as the name suggests –traditional. The sweet flavour, for the mouth’s pleasures, continues through to the palate’s delight, with an excellent, smooth, extended sensation. NIDHOGGR GINGER MEAD (17% vol) has the ginger element showing through, perfectly. Sweet and warming.
NIDHOGGR ELDERFLOWER MEAD (17% vol) entices with fresh elderflowers, that will surely impress lovers of elderflower flavours, which are very well balanced, in this production. NIDHOGGR RASPBERRY & LEMON MEAD (17% vol) has lemon detected, as well as raspberry, which is a further, extremely popular mead variation, being perfectly blended with sweet honey. If a more citrusy production is required, then the NIDHOGGR LEMON & LIME MEAD (17% vol) will not disappoint. An abundance of citrus flavours, with honey, pleases the nose and then follows on to the mouthfeel, wonderfully.
Award-winning Nidhoggr Company meads are brewed, produced and bottled in York. The city of York has a lot of interesting history, dating back many centuries. Numerous visitors, both from the UK and worldwide origins, find great enjoyment and interest in York. The City Walls and York Minster are amongst numerous places and venues to admire, appreciate and visit. Be it for a day, weekend or longer vacation, there is lots to do and explore, for the whole family. www.visityork.org
I found the authentic Nidhoggr meads to have great appeal, with splendid flavours of ingredients, that produce exceptionally smooth beverages. Nidhoggr meads are made using ingredients which are sourced locally. Great to include in cocktails, too. The excellent website has all details, including information and dates for forthcoming events – all good for sampling!

Disney Animated Productions Rating: PG
Cast: Jake Gyllenhaal, Jaboukie Young-White, Gabrielle Union, Dennis Quaid, Lucy Liu
When the electrical flora that fuels the mythical land of Avalonia suddenly starts powering down, scientist Searcher Clade (Jake Gyllenhaal) ventures to a monster-crawling subterranean world to discover the cause and put it right, with his son Ethan (Jaboukie Young-White)
email sales@thesentinella.com
and wife Meridian (Gabrielle Union) in tow. They unexpectedly reunite with Searcher’s long-lost explorer father Jaeger (Dennis Quaid) – who’s been surviving down there for decades.
Disney rarely ventures into the world of sci-fi in their animated films but this is a clever and entertaining mixture of the real and unreal, with clearly defined characters voiced by several well-known and recognisable stars.
Fast, fun, and full of freaky creatures, Strange World shows that Disney can do all-out action-adventure just as well as fairytale fare – while, hopefully, nudging the studio further towards the future.

Christmas, New Year, and the Holidays in general, are a difficult time for many people, especially those struggling with a drinking problem. Alcohol is everywhere; boozy office parties, family get-togethers or drinks out with friends and colleagues.
It is also a time where it is normal for people to overindulge. Which makes it easy to put off thinking about whether your alcohol use is out of control. Everyone is doing it; so that means it is okay –right?
But what happens now? The season is over, and you are struggling to stop with the daily/morning/binge/excessive/.……. (You can fill in the blank with any type of drinking that is causing an issue or a concern). Maybe your alcohol use over the festive period caused problems? There were arguments, accidents, missed events, or unnecessary drama. Was it simply that your compulsion to drink came before everything else? Leaving you isolated, miserable, and lonely.
Do you find yourself drinking when you don’t really want to; on days when you have previously promised yourself that you wouldn’t? If once you start, do you find you can’t seem to stop? Is alcohol causing you, or those around you, a problem?
If you answer yes to any of these questions but find you can’t seem to stop yourself from picking up that glass; or stay away from the booze for any length of time, then you are not alone. Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) can help.
Here two members of AA talk about how they found an answer to their struggles with alcohol; and how they no longer feel alone.
“My name is Richard, I started drinking at 15 years old. The sensation was amazing, I loved the feeling, was immediately hooked, and wanted more. My drinking turned into a chronic problem when I retired
from work. Alcohol became my life. I was depressed and lonely. I had no interest in people, places, or things. Relationships were a thing of the past. Eventually even eating became a chore–alcohol always came first.
After a serious health scare, which led to my hospitalisation, I knew I had to make a change or die. I was full of fear at the prospect of my first AA meeting. I hoped that I would hate it and that would justify never going back. However, what I found was love and understanding; and a realisation that there were many other people just like me.”
“My name is Donna. In the beginning alcohol gave me confidence, it was fun. Then it changed, instead of drinking to socialise and have a good time, I was drinking because I had to. I wasn’t happy and alcohol numbed my feelings. Everyone around me drank, it wasn’t unusual. But the way I was feeling, and using alcohol wasn’t normal.
I didn’t know what to expect at my first meeting. Sitting there listening, for the first time ever I felt I wasn't alone. I heard people speaking about how they felt and how they drank … and it was just the way I did. It gave me hope.
Life now is fantastic. I love sobriety, and the new life I have been given. I am no longer sad and self-obsessed. I can be useful to others. I like who I am. I hated myself when I was drinking. AA worked for me, when everything else I tried, had failed.”
There are meetings of Alcoholics Anonymous, with friendly people who will understand, held daily throughout the Costa del Sol. Meetings are free to attend, and anyone who thinks they may have a problem with alcohol is welcome.

A Light Hearted Little Tale
Our teacher asked what my favourite animal was, and I said, "Fried chicken." She said I wasn't funny, but she couldn't have been right, because everyone else laughed. My parents told me to always tell the truth. I did. Fried chicken is my favourite animal.
I told my dad what happened, and he said my teacher was probably a member of PETA. He said they love animals very much. I do too specially chicken, pork and beef. Anyway, my teacher sent me to the principal's office. I told him what happened and he laughed too. Then he told me not to do it again.
The next day in class my teacher asked me what my favourite live animal was. I told her it was chicken. She asked me why, so I told her it was because you could make them into fried chicken. She sent me back to the principal's office. He laughed and told me not to do it again.
I don't understand. My parents taught me to be honest, but my teacher doesn't like it when I am.
Today, my teacher asked us to tell her what famous person we admire most. I told her, "Colonel Sanders." Guess where I am now!

Donation Of Spanish Property
I am a British resident and I own Spanish property. Should I gift it to my children during my lifetime?
If you gift Spanish property to your children, there are various things that one needs to think about.
As a Spanish non tax resident, regardless of whether you sell or gift your property, you will need to account for 19% Spanish Capital Gains tax (CGT). A capital gain is calculated by taking the sale price and deducting the purchase price and related fees and costs. In addition to the 19% CGT, one needs to pay plusvalía. Plusvalía is essentially a municipal CGT.
If you gift your property during your lifetime, you will also need to account for lifetime inheritance tax (IHT) in Spain, often referred to as a ‘donación’ in Spanish. This is generally very low in Andalusia as there is a 99% exemption when gifting to children.
This is only part of the picture for British residents in that British residents need to also consider their potential obligations and tax liabilities in the UK.
UK CGT is ordinarily charged at either 18% or 28% on second residential property, depending on whether the person is a basic or a higher rate income tax payer. An individual will normally be given credit for the Capital Gains tax paid in Spain to avoid double taxation.
No lifetime inheritance tax in the UK would be payable and this is known as a PET - a Potentially Exempt Transfer. Provided that
you live for seven years after the gift, it would not fall into your estate for the purposes of calculating UK IHT.
With property values continuing to rise, there is an increasing number of people who need to think about IHT. UK IHT at death, above applicable exemptions, is charged at 40% and 36%.
Each individual’s circumstances are different. For a confidential consultation tailored to your situation please contact Sam Baker, English solicitor at De Cotta Law: sambaker@decottalaw.net Telephone 952 527 014.

Never Purchase a Real Estate Property In The Name Of A Company
Just a brief note to clarify a frequent occurrence for which we receive requests for advice at our Law office.
Many clients are advised to set up limited companies to buy properties in Spain or sometimes it is suggested that they purchase the shares of an existing limited company which is the legal owner of a property.
Should you be thinking of buying a real estate property (either for your own use or as an investment), never use a limited company for this purpose. Limited companies are for running a business, not for holding ownership of real estate properties.
Despite what you are told by many investment and financial companies about the advantages of limited companies, I can confirm that there are no tax advantages or savings of any kind to be gained by using a limited company, but there are many extra costs and potential tax liabilities.
You must always purchase your real estate in your own name. It is much simpler, cheaper, and safer. You should never set up a company or purchase the shares of an existing company that holds the ownership of a property, just to buy real estate. The ownership of a limited company or shares in a limited company would imply taxes to be paid and a risk of taking over the company’s previous duties or commitments.
Please also note that apart from the costs and risks of setting up a company or buying an existing company, you would also be liable to pay the annual maintenance costs. Years pass by very quickly and you will see that having a company would involve spending money like water, with no benefits at all.
Finally, please also be aware that the Spanish Tax Office considers that ify ou are using a
property owned by a company you should be paying rent for said property to your own company. This would implicate an important tax liability for the company who would have to pay annual corporate taxes at the rate of 25% of the assumed annual rental that you should be paying to the company.
CONCLUSION: Never set up a company to buy a property, nor purchase an existing company holding ownership of real estate. You should always purchase properties in your own name.
And if you have already made the mistake of using a company to buy a property, we would recommend that you liquidate it ASAP and register the property in your own name. This way you would avoid an unpleasant claim from the tax office and would also save a lot of money by avoiding the maintenance costs.
If you have any further questions or doubts regarding this matter, or need assistance for liquidating your Ltd company, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Just as we all have medical check-ups to make sure we are in good health or take our cars for a MOT to make sure they are road-worthy, we should also check our homes regularly to safeguard ourselves against unforeseen events and to avoid any unpleasant surprises.
Lotti Lundstedt, from Liberty Seguros offers us some tips on how best to avoid damage to our homes and shares with us the popular home insurance covers for properties in Spain:
"The most common claims are those caused by water damage. As a general rule, we always recommend closing stopcocks – even if you are only going to be away for a short period of time.
"What’s more, there are other small actions that can be taken to prevent unintended damage too. From not using the toilet as a waste bin, to protecting drains with filters, unblocking drains as soon as you come across a blockage, preventing damp by maintaining good ventilation throughout the home, checking pipe joints and making sure there are no leaks coming from the cistern or dripping taps. These are all simple but effective ways to keep your home protected all year round."
Nevertheless, in the case of damage caused by water, Liberty Seguros home insurance policies do offer extensive cover. Policy holders can rest assured that expenses incurred with regard to locating the damage are covered, as is the repair and/or replacement of damaged parts within the confines of the home.
Home insurance policies with Liberty Seguros also cover the breakage of pipes - even if
there is no actual damage caused by the leak – and excess water consumption can be claimed for up to 1.000 euros per claim each year.
Lotti Lundstedt continues: "In recent years–and as a result of climate change – extreme events which cause significant damage to homes have become more and more common. With this in mind, coverages that include damage due to atmospheric, meteorological, geological or seismic phenomena such as landslides, subsidence or floods are in high demand.
At Liberty Seguros we have taken this into account and with our optional ‘Accidental All Risks’ cover, all of these scenarios are covered – even if they are not actually considered ‘extraordinary’ under current legislation."
Lundstedt also explains that one of the most asked questions is whether locks and keys are included in Liberty Seguros home policy. She reveals:"Our Liberty Seguros home insurance policy includes a complete assistance. We will actually send a locksmith out to you if you find yourself locked out by accident, and of course, you are also covered for locksmith services if your keys are lost, stolen or broken, or even if the lock has been rendered useless due to an attempted burglary, or other."
Liberty Seguros believes that whilst it’s not compulsory by law, having a home insurance policy that is adapted to YOU is essential for your peace of mind. It’s for this reason that Liberty Seguros makes it as easy for you as possible to adapt your home policy to meet your REAL needs.
What’s more, with Liberty Seguros there are more than 300 expats agents and brokers that are available to assist you with face-to-face advice in your OWN language.

We are now already in a new year, gosh, time rushes by! In terms of selling properties, the biggest selling season and the best time to offer your property for sale is the Spring season, which is long, covering January to June.
It’s very much a cycle when it comes to purchasing and selling property here. Summer is the quietest time (it’s hot, half the houses people wish to view are let to tourism, and flights and accommodation are expensive), so best to avoid putting your house on the market in June, for example, as it could sit there for 2 or 3 months with very few viewings. In the Autumn, people start to come back over and do research and many buy at this time. Then at Christmas, when it’s cold, everyone thinks of warm Spain, as they take their chilly Christmas break, and start to surf the property portals again. But, Spring is THE time! After a year or so of pondering, as the Winter makes way for brighter days, the trigger is released and clients jump on planes,
Season!
enthusiastic and excited to find their dream home in the sun!
Last Spring season was crazy for every agent I know – the busiest and most successful we have known. Perhaps the busy time got busier because of the post-covid rush to purchase, and perhaps, with a few of the uncertainties happening in the world at the moment, this Spring may not be quite as busy, but after twenty years in this business, we know that while the sun still shines, people will come out in the first half of the year to buy!
So, we strongly recommend, if you are thinking of selling, to do this early in the biggest selling season, January to June.
For further information and advice, or a free valuation, we are always ready for you!

Sad reflection
Allison Holker is honouring her late husband Stephen "tWitch" Boss.
In a statement confirming the former Ellen DeGeneres Show DJ's death, the mum of three reflected on his legacy.
"It is with the heaviest of hearts that I have to share my husband Stephen has left us," Holker said in a statement to E! News. "Stephen lit up every room he stepped into. He valued family, friends and community above all else and leading with love and light was everything to him. He was the backbone of our family, the best husband and father, and an inspiration to his fans.
"To say he left a legacy would be an understatement, and his positive impact will continue to be felt," she continued. "I am certain there won't be a day that goes by that we won't honour his memory."
She concluded with a message to her husband, saying, "Stephen, we love you, we miss you, and I will always save the last dance for you."
E! News can confirm Boss died by suicide. He was 40 years old.
Not so super any more Henry Cavill's Superman became the latest DC Universe casualty under new owners Warner Bros. Discovery, following a string of dramatic shake-ups for the franchise.
Cavill's shock announcement that he will 'not be returning as Superman' is the latest sign that new studio heads James Gunn and Peter Safran are making major changes to the DC franchise.
Following the merger that created new parent company Warner Bros. Discovery in April, DC's $90 million Batgirl movie was scrapped in the final stages of production, and plans for Wonder Woman 3 were cast aside earlier this month.
Gunn and Safran, who took over DC Studios last month and report directly to WBD boss David Zaslav, have said they are working on a 10-year masterplan for the DC Extended Universe, which will tell a unified, overarching story across multiple mediums.
Gunn ominously tweeted that his plan to overhaul the franchise with Safran would 'build upon what has worked in DC so far' as well as 'rectify what has not.'

New act for Cheryl
Cheryl is reportedly set to pocket one of the biggest fees in West End history, with sources claiming she'll earn £750,000 for four months work on 2:22 A Ghost Story.
Sharon’s mystery illness
Sharon Osbourne has reportedly been hospitalised after suffering a medical emergency while filming a new TV show.
The TV star, 70, had been busy shooting a paranormal TV show in California near the Glen Tavern Inn in Santa Paula when she fell ill suddenly, according to TMZ.
Doctors were called out to the Tavern over a 'medical call', a Ventura County Department rep reportedly told the publication.
The singer, 39, who will make her West End debut in the play next year, has signed up for the role despite having little acting experience, and bosses hoping that she will boost ticket sales.
Earlier this month Cheryl announced that she had joined the cast of the terrifying stage thriller, replacing Laura Whitmore who will depart the show in January.
It was previously reported that Cheryl would be earning at least £100,000 for her work in the play, despite facing criticism for her casting due to her lack of acting experience.
They subsequently transported a patient to Santa Paula Hospital. Sharon was confirmed to be the patient to TMZ. And it is understood she has now been released.
Her current medical condition is unknown and it is not clear what was the cause of the sudden ill health. Sharon has never previously spoken about any major health concerns.

Jokes ha ha :)
A professor at the Adelaide University was giving a lecture on Paranormal Studies. To get a feel for his audience, he asks, 'How many people here believe in ghosts?'
About 90 students raise their hands. ‘Well, that's a good start. Out of those who believe in ghosts, do any of you think you have seen a ghost?'
About 40 students raise their hands. ‘That's really good. I'm really glad you take this seriously. Has anyone here ever talked to a ghost?'
About 15 students raise their hand. ‘Has anyone here ever touched a ghost?'
Three students raise their hand. ‘That's fantastic. Now let me ask you one question further... Have any of you ever made love to ghosts?'
Way in the back, Ahmed bin Talabi raises his hand. The professor takes off his glasses and says 'Son, all the years I've been giving this lecture, no one has ever claimed to have made love to a ghost. You've got to come up here and tell us about your experience.'
The Afghani student replied with a nod and a grin, and began to make his way up to the podium.
When he reached the front of the room, the professor asks, 'So, Ahmed, tell us what it's like to have sex with ghosts?'
Ahmed replied, "S***, from way back there I thought you said goats."
The seven dwarfs go to the Vatican and because they are the seven dwarfs, they are immediately ushered in to see the Pope.
Grumpy leads the pack. 'Grumpy, my son,' says the Pope, 'What can I do for you?'
Grumpy asks, 'Excuse me your excellency, but are there any dwarf nuns in Rome?'
The Pope wrinkles his brow at the odd question, thinks for a moment and answers, 'No, Grumpy, there are no dwarf nuns in Rome.'
In the background, a few of the dwarfs start giggling. Grumpy turns around and glares, silencing them. Grumpy turns back, 'Your Worship, are there any dwarf nuns in all of Europe?’
The Pope, puzzled now, again thinks for a moment and then answers, 'No, Grumpy, there are no dwarf nuns in Europe.’
This time, all of the other dwarfs burst into laughter. Once again, Grumpy turns around and silences them with an angry glare.
Grumpy turns back and says, 'Mr.. Pope! Are there ANY dwarf nuns anywhere in the world?'
The Pope, really confused by the questions says, 'I'm sorry, my son, there are no dwarf nuns anywhere in the world.'
The other dwarfs collapse into a heap, rolling and laughing, pounding the floor, tears rolling down their cheeks, as they begin chanting...... 'Grumpy shagged a penguin!' 'Grumpy shagged a penguin!'
I dialled a number and got the following recording, "I am not available right now, but thank you for caring enough to call. I am making some changes in my life. Please leave a message after the beep. If I do not return your call, you are one of the changes."
My wife and I had words, but I didn't get to use mine!!!

I went to the pub with my girlfriend last night. Locals were shouting cradle snatcher and other names at me just because my girlfriend is 21 and I'm 50. It completely spoilt our 10th anniversary.

A blonde lady motorist was about two hours from San Diego when she was flagged down by a man whose truck had broken down. The man walked up to the car and asked, "Are you going to San Diego?"
"Sure," answered the blonde, "Do you need a lift?"
"Not for me. I'll be spending the next three hours fixing my truck. My problem is I've got two chimpanzees in the back which have to be taken to the San Diego Zoo. They're a bit stressed already so I don't want to keep them on the road all day. Could you possibly take them to the zoo for me? I'll give you $100 for your trouble."
"I'd be happy to," said the blonde.. So the two chimpanzees were ushered into the back seat of the blonde's car and carefully strapped into their seat belts, and off they went.
Five hours later, the truck driver was driving through the heart of San Diego when suddenly he was horrified! There was the blonde walking down the street, holding hands with the two chimps, much to the amusement of a big crowd. With a screech of brakes he pulled off the road and ran over to the blonde. "What the heck are you doing here?" he demanded, "I gave you $100 to take these chimpanzees to the zoo."
"Yes, I know you did," said the blonde, "But we had money left over so now we're going to Sea World."
It's late autumn and the Indians on a remote reservation in South Dakota asked their new chief if the coming winter was going to be cold or mild.
Since he was a chief in a modern society, he had never been taught the old secrets. When he looked at the sky, he couldn't tell what the winter was going to be like. Nevertheless, to be on the safe side, he told his tribe that the winter was indeed going to be cold and that the members of the village
should collect firewood to be prepared. But, being a practical leader, after several days, he got an idea. He went to the phone box, called the National Weather Centre and asked, 'Is the coming winter going to be cold?'
'It looks like this winter is going to be very cold,' the meteorologist at the weather centre responded.
So the chief went back to his people and told them to collect even more firewood in order to be prepared.
A week later, he called the National Weather Centre again. 'Does it still look like it is going to be a very cold winter?'
'Yes,' the man at National Weather Centre again replied, 'It's going to be a very cold winter.'
The chief again went back to his people and ordered them to collect every scrap of firewood they could find.
Two weeks later, the chief called the National Weather Centre again. 'Are you absolutely sure that the winter is going to be very cold?' 'Absolutely,' the man replied. 'It's looking more and more like it is going to be one of the coldest winters we've ever seen.'
'How can you be so sure?' the chief asked. The weatherman replied, 'The Indians are collecting a s***load of firewood.'
Got myself a new Jack Russell puppy, he's mainly black and brown with a small white patch, so I've named him Birmingham.
I took an epileptic girl to a rave once. I jokingly told her, ‘This place has rave reviews’, but she just rolled her eyes at me.
My girlfriend said she was leaving me due to my obsession with the 60's group ‘The Monkees’. I thought she was joking... and then I saw her face!

Horoscopes
by Juanita Banana of Banana Moon Yoga Therapy, Studio, Travel & Retreats
ARIES: March 21-April 20
You begin 2023 with some positive planetary aspects which make it an excellent time to begin or expand a project. Ask for help or ideas if you need to. Avoid impetuousness and making promises you’ll not be able to keep
TAURUS: April 21-May 21
A potentially difficult month for Taureans - try to avoid allowing professional concerns to control your mood which can irritate, bog you down and make you feel trapped. Remain calm and the situation will soon resolve to your advantage
GEMINI: May 22-June 21
Planetary energies may disconnect you from reality. If you are aware of staying grounded, your genius ideas can materialise. In matters of the heart, you feel free and able to be yourself
CANCER: June 22-July 22
Try to rid yourself of the impression that your boss or spouse is never happy. On January 6th, with the full Wolf Moon, beware of feeling blue; instead put things into perspective and find someone with whom to enjoy an intellectual exchange
LEO: July 23-August 23
You have an unfortunate tendency to harshly impose your convictions – try to realise what you are doing and saying and, instead, offer advice with humour and in a relaxed manner. Opportunities are presented that lead to new horizons
VIRGO: August 24-September 22
Your self-confidence is high and you can trust your intuition as your best guide during January. Be careful not to exhaust yourself by catching up with others' mistakes or assuming their responsibilities
LIBRA: September 23 - October 22
Offset any feeling of loneliness by connecting with people who are on your wavelength; participate in meetings and accept invitations. Avoid manipulation around the full Moon on the 6th that could place you in a delicate situation
SCORPIO: October 23 - November 21
During January Scorpio can expect to lead a routine life without surprises but with peace and peace of mind. To step outside this comfort zone would bring unnecessary challenges and difficulties
SAGITTARIUS: November 22December 21
There is a lightness in your relationships and exchanges. Your independence is allowed to flourish, you feel appreciated and valued, joyful and lucky, grateful and free
CAPRICORN: December 22 - January 20
You are yearning to realise an ambition, perhaps to have a proposal or project accepted. Opportunities are there but be open and realistic - put all cards on the table to have them well received and your plans furthered
AQUARIUS: January 21 - February 19
Come out of your inertia to appreciate some pleasing opportunities. Use reason, rather than emotion, to deal with those around you who are not ready to change their habits. Take time to consider pros and cons before making a decision that would put all your assets in question
PISCES: February 20 - March 20
In this favourable climate for Pisces, you have every chance to make your wishes come true. Before making a decision that could embarrass you later, talk to someone you trust www.thesentinella.com
