m Fro Ed... the The month of February is always a tricky and challenging one for us — apart from anything else, having fewer days plays havoc with the timings of getting this little mag to print so you can enjoy it on your phone, ipad, PC or just to collect from your local bar or shop on or before the 1st of the month. Add into that equation a well-deserved break back to the UK and passing through Paris for a few days that is looming whilst I write this; I am surprised that you even have an Ed’s column to read this month — it’s a miracle it isn’t just a blank page! (Only kidding, folks … but I AM looking forward to catching up with some good friends in the UK and I really do think I deserve it !) :) It’s been a tough slog, but here we are ready to spring into March already. Recently I have heard a few people saying, ‘Magazine advertising doesn’t work; I have tried it in ‘blah blah’ magazine and got nothing’. Whenever I hear these words I feel somewhat sad for these people as they clearly have not done much homework on which is the best place — or medium — in which to advertise in the area. Therefore, from perhaps one bad experience, they rule out all forms of magazine advertising, and so reduce their chances of success even more. It’s like anything — cheap can either be terrible or possibly just OK, but generally speaking, if you spend a little more, you tend to get both quality and results. It’s a bit like the difference between buying from a Chinese shop in comparison to a well-known branded one. All I can advise anyone wanting to get results from their hard-earned money is that when choosing advertising, look around you. Go out and about, see how many copies of each magazine are being distributed and over what geographical area, as this will mean a bigger readership and your advert will be seen by thousands more potential customers. Above all, don’t just take someone’s word for it — and don’t just advertise because they are

Strange News your friends either. Never forget, friends are friends, but business is business. We at The Sentinella constantly strive to achieve good results for all our customers and if they become friends as well whilst they are advertising with us, which many have, that is a huge bonus! Also, actually look at which magazines are being picked up first, which are the most talked about and which are still lingering around at the end of month — these ones obviously don’t have a big readership and therefore fewer potential customers for your business. All these things should be taken into consideration before making any commitment for advertising, and be particularly wary of ‘deals’ which look cheap but may tie you in for a year — by the time you realise that you are wasting your money, it’s too late to back out. You are out of pocket with no customers, when you could have done your homework, paid a little extra and voila ... business is booming! The main business criterion is the return on your investment. Finally — and most important of all — you must consider the quality of the content as this is what makes people pick up the magazine in the first place; if it is not worth reading, then it will just gather dust on the shelf and your adverts won’t reach your customers. At The Sentinella every month we try to produce a fun-filled edition which both entertains and informs, and we have more than 200 advertisers who want to glean business from our publication. We work extremely hard on the content in order to (hopefully!) put a smile on our readers’ faces. After all, it’s been proven time and time again that a ‘happy reader is a happy shopper’! To all you lucky readers out there that don’t need to advertise we hope that you continue to enjoy reading our little magazine each month, because without you the readers, there are no advertisers, which in turn means no Sentinella!! On that note, have a fantastic month as always.

The Editor (of the original little mag)!
Weird creature A beast from the depths of the ocean has suddenly appeared in the middle of an inland street. The sharp-toothed skeleton mystified locals when it was found in Kirkdale, Liverpool, recently. The fish has a long tail, a flat head with sharp teeth and large eyes and does not look like anything you can pick up from a chippy. The frightening creature was found a long way from the sea and some people think a seagull may have dropped the fish from the sky. Strange sea creatures have been known to wash up on Crosby beach and the Merseyside coastline regularly, but to find it in Kirkdale is unheard of. Heriot Street is over a mile from the nearest body of water – at Bramley Moore Dock – so its appearance had locals scratching their heads. Pasta peril A young man was found dead in his bed five days after eating spaghetti leftovers that had been kept out of the fridge in his kitchen. The student, known only as AJ, 20, fell ill after eating the pasta that had been on a worktop for five days after being cooked for the first time. He warmed it up in the microwave and ate it before going out to play sport, but came home half an hour later severely ill with headaches, abdominal pain and nausea. He went to bed but died after his liver failed as a result of the toxins on the old pasta. He was found dead by his parents 11 hours later when he failed to turn up for college in Brussels, Belgium. A post mortem found that he died suddenly from food poisoning caused by bacillus cereus – a spore-forming bacteria that produces toxins and can lead to vomiting and diarrhoea. AJ died in 2008, but the case came to light only recently after it featured in the US Journal of Clinical Microbiology and Dr Bernard reviewed it for his YouTube channel. He said: ‘Many people eat pasta, or any other form of noodles, that are leftover for a day or two and they’re fine. But be careful of food left out for more than a few hours. If the food smells funny, it’s always better to be safe than sorry.’

Strange News (Continued) It’s a wrap… A top chef and an Indian restaurant have accused M&S of “cultural appropriation” with its new vegan sweet potato biryani wrap. They claim the retailer is taking advantage of Indian food to make money while not providing an authentic and traditional meal. Biryani, a popular curry all-in-one dish, is traditionally made with chicken or mutton and always contains rice. The M&S meat-free wrap, made out of sweet potato, spiced basmati rice and buckwheat with roasted red pepper, was launched in December as part of the M&S Plant Kitchen line. Maunika Gowardhan, chef and author of Indian Kitchen, tweeted a photo of the wrap to express her disappointment. She wrote: ‘Thanks but I like my biryani with rice in a bowl not a wrap. Seriously M&S!? ‘In India firstly there is no such thing as a veg biryani. Most places will serve mutton or chicken or even fish. It’s wrong on many levels when people will assume this is what a biryani looks like!’ Top restaurant Darjeeling Express shared Maunika’s tweet and accused M&S of failing
to do its research. The restaurant, run by chef Asma Khan, opened in Soho in 2016. The restaurant tweeted: ‘This is so wrong at so many levels – you seriously need to rethink your “exotic” wrap selection. That is not biryani — you do not appropriate names from a cuisine without even bothering to do any research on that dish.’ An M&S spokeswoman said: ‘M&S is famous for its food innovation and our developers use a fusion of different flavours and ingredients to create an exciting range of products to appeal to customers’ tastes.’

Shrove Tuesday Facts This year Shrove Tuesday also known as pancake day, is celebrated on Tuesday 5th March. It falls exactly 47 days before Easter Sunday.
Rochdale, Manchester, UK in 1994, by the Co-Operative Union, Ltd. Measuring 15.01 m (49 ft 3 in) in diameter and 2.5 cm (1 in) thick, the pancake weighed 3 tonnes (6,614 lb).
Shrove Tuesday is a day for feasting in preparation for the sacrifice and fasting period of Lent, which begins the following day with Ash Wednesday
On average we consume two pancakes per person on Pancake Day, which means that we get through 117 million pancakes in one day! This requires enough milk to fill more than 93 Olympic swimming pools and almost 13 million kilos of plain flour.
The holiday historically started with people trying to use up all of their butter, sugar, and eggs before Lent began. A pancake is a thin, flat cake, made of batter and fried in a frying pan. A traditional English pancake is very thin and is served immediately. Golden syrup, lemon juice and caster sugar are the usual toppings for pancakes. In total, Brits use an unbelievable 52 million eggs on Pancake Day. That’s 22 million more than any other day. The largest pancake was created in

Would You Like On Fleek Eyebrows? Do you have sparse eyebrows and would like to go without having to fill them in with brow pencils and shadows for weeks? Henna brows are becoming more and more popular. How fantastic would it be to wake up every morning and have your eyebrows already good to go?  Here are some semi permanent brow facts; Henna brows have been used for thousands of years since the ancient times for body art, to dye hair, skin and nails, traditionally used in the Indian culture. Henna brows are a form of eye brow tinting that is used to stain the skin beneath the brow hairs, with no need for pencils or powders! Most women use it for colouring their eyebrows. It's simply a temporary brow tattoo, but one that results in natural, fuller brows.
Eve Taylor who is qualified in medical micropigmentation and semi-permanent make-up is also available for Henna brows See main advert opposite
Henna contains lawsone, a natural colouring pigment and is safe to use on most skins types. The henna brow process is generally very quick and easy and should only take about 30 minutes. Typically a tint lasts between 2 - 4 weeks and henna can last 6 - 7 weeks on the hair, but it’s dependant on your skin type. Dryer complexions will tend to last a bit longer than an oily complexion. The henna colouring fades away naturally, and when used regularly can even help to thicken and regrow brows which have been over plucked in the past. Henna brows are a good stepping stone to more permanent make-up eyebrow procedures.

Walking can add minutes to your life. This enables you at 85 years old to spend an additional 5 months in a nursing home, at €6,000 a month.
If you are going to try cross-country skiing, start with a small country.
My grandmother started walking five miles a day when she was 60. Now she’s 97 years old we don’t know where the hell she is. The only reason I would take up exercising is so that I could hear heavy breathing again. I have to exercise early in the morning before my brain figures out what I’m doing. I like long walks, especially when they are taken by people who annoy me. The advantage of exercising every day is that

With only three million people in its 604,000 square miles, Mongolia is the world’s most sparsely populated sovereign state. a third of the population lives in the capital, while around 40% of the country's workforce is nomadic, herding livestock in the extensive pasturelands. Mongolia averages 257 cloudless days a year, but the average temperature in its capital ulaanbaatar is -1.7C (29.7F) which makes it the world’s coldest capital city. In Mongolia there are 13 times as many horses and 35 times as many sheep as people. a glass of tomato juice and vinegar with sheep eyes in it is considered a good hangover cure in Mongolia. Is There Life After Brexit For Brits In Spain? There is much being said in the media concerning the effects Brexit will have on ex-pats who already live in Spain and those who plan to move in the future or just holiday here, regarding exchange rates, health care, residency, travel and employment, just to mention a few topics. You can read as much as you want and still have little idea of the probable outcome. The President of the European Union doesn’t know the outcome, the British Prime Minister doesn’t know and neither does the head of the Spanish Government. However, we all know that the Costa del Sol economy needs the people and the money of the UK; they would be in serious trouble without us. At a recent meeting, the British ambassador to Spain, Simon Manley, stressed that the relationship between the two countries was too strong to be damaged by the exit from the EU. Tourism, commerce and residents’ rights were among the issues discussed by the experts who laid out their views of the different possibilities that could occur, depending on the type of Brexit the UK ends up with. Fernando Valdés, the undersecretary for Industry, Trade and Tourism at the Spanish government, outlined, as did Simon Manley, the “political declaration” drawn up between the two countries. This, said Manley, shows that both Spain and the UK want to build a new strong relationship which will involve free trade, the free flow of tourists, secure air links, collaboration between security forces and the maintenance of the rights of citizens from each country living in the other. Whatever happens, unfortunately, our future lies in the hands of politicians and their advisors; at this stage, unless there is a second referendum, there is little you or I can
do to influence the future. So instead of worrying let’s look at it in a simple, positive (glass is half full) way. Even though things today may not seem as good as they were immediately before the June 2016 Brexit vote – for example, the exchange rate is less favourable for the Brits and there is still uncertainty. But is it really that bad for us? Just ask yourself 3 questions: 1. Where in the UK can you buy a 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom villa with private pool and magnificent views for less than 200,000€? 2. Where in the UK can you buy a glass of wine and a tapa for 2€ or even less? 3. Where in the UK does the sun shine for 320 days a year? Answer: Nowhere! Anyway, I’m off to the beach for Sunday lunch now (mid-February); tomorrow we hand over keys to a British couple who have bought in Almàchar and on Tuesday we are at Notary to complete a house purchase for yet another British couple who are moving to Algarrobo. Regardless of Brexit, for those who make it happen, life here in southern Spain just gets better and better! Austin Taylor: Buy A Home Spain See main advert on pages 66 & 67

Commentators Sometimes these sports commentators should really think before they speak... Michael Buerk on watching Phillipa Forrester cuddle up to a male astronomer for warmth during BBC1’s UK eclipse coverage remarked: “They seem cold out there, they’re rubbing each other, and he’s only come in his shorts.” Ken Brown commentating on golfer Nick Faldo and his caddie Fanny Sunneson lining-up shots at the Scottish Open: “Some weeks Nick likes to use Fanny, other weeks he prefers to do it by himself.” Mike Hallett discussing missed snooker shots on Sky Sports: “Stephen Hendry jumps on Steve Davis’s
misses every chance he gets.” Jack Burnicle was talking about Colin Edwards’ tyre choice on World Superbike racing: “Colin had a hard on in practice earlier, and I bet he wished he had a hard on now” “Winning Post’s Stewart Machin commentating on jockey Tony McCoy’s formidable lead: “Tony has a quick look between his legs and like what he sees.” Ross King discussing relays with champion runner Phil Redmond: “Well Phil, tell us about your amazing third leg.”

Redwell Heating Solutions Redwell® Infrared Heating Systems - Over 13 years in Spain! The energy-saving, healthy and stylish heating solutions from Redwell® have been convincing customers for more than 13 years. The company has hundreds of clients on the Costa del Sol and in other parts of Spain. The Austrian manufacturer has been developing efficient and energy-saving heating systems for more than 15 years. Continuous research in co-operation with universities guarantees an outstanding product quality and the latest technology. The Infrared Heaters from Redwell offer the highest quality in unique designs — and they come with 10 years’ vendor warranty. In comparison to conventional heaters, infrared waves don’t just heat the air, but heat people, walls and furniture too. The walls remain dry and mould has no chance to spread. Another advantage is that the air does not circulate, so no dust is wafted round in the air.
This means that rheumatism and asthma patients — as well as allergy sufferers — benefit greatly. NEW - Combine your heating panel with LED light. Redwell® in Spain also offers high-quality LED light solutions for the infrared heating panels. Whether your heating panel is installed on the wall or on the ceiling, there is a solution to illuminate it in the right way. This is also a way to expand if you already have an infrared heating at home. Redwell® Infrared Heaters offer the best benefits: Energy savings, high comfort, a healthy indoor environment and NO maintenance costs! Contact us or visit the exhibition in our shop. True Words From the brain of Peter Kaye - comedian legend
Nobody ever dares to make cup-a-soup in a bowl.
Triangular sandwiches taste better than square ones.
The most embarrassing thing you can do as a schoolchild is to call your teacher mum or dad.
At the end of every party there is always a girl crying. One of the most awkward things that can happen in a pub is when your pint-to-toilet cycle gets synchronised with a complete stranger. You’re never quite sure whether it’s ok to eat green crisps. Everyone who grew up in the 80’s has entered digits 5318008 into a calculator. Go on do it, what do you get? B*****s :) You’re never quite sure whether it’s against the law or not to have a fire in your back garden.
Leilas
Every bloke has at some stage while taking a pee, flushed half way through and then raced against the flush. People who don’t drive slam car doors too hard. You’ve turned into your dad the day you put aside a thin piece of wood specifically to stir paint with. Everyone had an uncle who tried to steal their nose. In every plate of chips there is a bad chip. I think you’ll all agree, you can’t get words more true than these!

History Of Colonic Irrigation Enema treatments of the colon have been practised for hundreds of years... even the ancient Egyptians did it. Colon cleansing has the advantage of being very effective. Necessity - Today, there are few people with an ideal bowel function. The majority suffer from a disturbed symbiosis called dysbiosis – in other words a disturbance of the natural community of intestinal bacteria. This is caused by such things as sterilised and pasteurised food, improper diet or lifestyle, environmental pollution, toxins and abuse of drugs, alcohol and nicotine. Many people have a large number of adverse intestinal bacteria. Toxins and waste products are not broken down and excreted fast enough, leading to self-poisoning of the body. Results include loss of vitality, fatigue, depression, lack of concentration, aggression and anxiety. Infections, inflammations, rheumatism, arthritis, acne, psoriasis, various skin diseases, hypertension, migraine, allergies and many other ailments are associated with a poorly functioning bowel and can be aided by colonic irrigation. There is a very close link between metabolic processes and the immune system, 70% of which is located in the wall of the small
intestine and colon. Only a healthy colon can independently form the vitamins biotin, folic acid, nicotinic acid and vitamin K. Only healthy mucosa (lining of the digestive tract) can repel pathogenic toxins and at the same time, absorb trace elements and minerals such as sodium, calcium, magnesium and iron. Implementation and impact - During colon therapy, the patient lies on their side on a treatment couch. A plastic tube is introduced and water at differing temperatures flows through it into the intestine. The water and dissolved intestinal contents are then drained. With a gentle stomach massage, problem areas can be detected. It is important that the therapist is constantly present. The regime also reduces swelling in the mucosa, which can trigger heart palpitations, and hypertension. The dissolving action and temperature of the water makes the gut start working again, expelling accumulated and stagnated intestinal contents. In the last third of the treatment, the temperature hovers around 40 degrees, which is very beneficial for the liver. The treatment can last up to 60 minutes. See main advert below
COLON HYDROTHERAPY
Colon Hydrotherapy also known as Colonic irrigation, colonic hydrotherapy, or a "colonic", is a treatment which is used to wash out the contents of the large bowel by means of copious enemas using water or other medication. Relieves the following: Benefits include: wMakes the digestive system more wConstipation & Diarrhea wAtonic Colon & Chronic effective wMaintains regularity and prevents flatulence (lazy colon) wDiverticulitis & Ulcerative constipation wDecreases risk of colon cancer wSusceptibility to infection & wIncreases energy Eczema wImproves concentration wAllergies & Migraine wImproves whole-body well-being wFungal diseases & Dysbacteria

Bible Statements Anyone who has ever read the Bible, will find these statements, taken from children’s school work at a Catholic Elementary School, verrrrry funny indeed! Adam and Eve were created from an apple tree. Noah’s wife was Joan of Ark. Noah built an ark and the animals came on in pears. The Jews were proud people and throughout history they had trouble with unsympathetic genitals. Moses led the Jews to the Red Sea where they made unleavened bread, which is bread without any ingredients. The Seventh commandment is Thou Shalt Not Admit Adultery. It was a miracle when Jesus rose from the dead and managed to get the tombstone off the entrance. The people who followed the Lord were called The 12 decibels.

St John the Blacksmith dumped water on his head. Jesus was born because Mary had an immaculate contraption. Soloman, one of David’s sons, had 300 wives and 700 porcupines. The Egyptians were all drowned in the desert. Afterwards Moses went up to Mount Cyanide to get the Ten Commandments. The first commandments was when Eve told Adam to eat the apple.

Random Joke :) A man in a hot air balloon realised he was lost. He reduced altitude and spotted a woman below. He descended a bit more and shouted, “Excuse me, can you help me? I promised a friend I would meet him an hour ago, but I don’t know where I am.” The woman below replied, “You are in a hot air balloon hovering approximately 30 feet above the ground. You are between 40 and 41 degrees north latitude and between 59 and 60 degrees west longitude.” “You must be an engineer,” said the balloonist. “I am,” replied the woman. “How did you know?” “Well,” answered the balloonist, “Everything you told me is technically correct, but I have no idea what to make of your information, and the fact is I am still lost.
Indian Cuisine and more...
Frankly, you’ve not been much help so far.” The woman below responded, “You must be in management.” “I am,” replied the balloonist, “but how did you know?” “Well,” said the woman, “you don’t know where you are or where you are going. You have risen to where you are, due to a large quantity of hot air. You made a promise which you have no idea how to keep, and you expect people beneath you to solve your problems. The fact is you are in exactly the same position you were in before we met, but now, somehow, it’s my fault!”

Axarquia Solicitors Law Office Advice I AM A FOREIGNER AND I WANT TO BUY A HOUSE ON THE COSTA DEL SOL: FAQ (PART I) 1. What are the requirements for a foreigner to purchase property on the Costa del Sol? To purchase property on the Costa del Sol or elsewhere in Spain, foreigners only need an Identity Number for Foreigners, (Número de Identidad de Extranjero or NIE), which may be applied for at Government delegations or sub-delegations or at any Foreign Office (Oficina de Extranjería). If you are unable to personally apply for a NIE, you may call in a legal representative, who will do the paperwork for you if duly authorised. To speed up the processing of the NIE (a personal, unique, sequential identification number) and enter into a mortgage contract for your home, do not hesitate to contact us through any of our offices. Our team of lawyers is at your service. 2. If I buy an apartment in Spain but keep my residence in my country of origin, do I need to pay taxes in Spain? When property is purchased in Spain, taxes and expenses related to the purchase must be paid in Spain. However, for a more comprehensive insight on this topic, please contact our offices for further information. 3. Should I get a mortgage from a Spanish bank? Or is it preferable to ask for one in my country of origin? No Spanish legislation forces buyers to get a mortgage in Spain to purchase a home. In fact, we recommend that you finance your property purchase in your country of origin. If you are not a legal resident, getting a mortgage in Spain means higher costs due to taxes.
4. Can I get a residence permit if I own an apartment in Spain? No, unless you invest over €500,000 in your home. 5. Would the residence permit be granted only to me as the property owner, or may my family also benefit from it? In Spain, family reunification is currently regulated under temporary residence. If you have purchased property in Spain worth over €500,000 and have obtained a residence permit, you may apply for an authorisation to register your family in the home you bought. In the May edition of ‘The Sentinella’ our next post will answer questions commonly asked by foreign buyers who wish to purchase a home in Spain. Meanwhile, if you need any further information or clarifications, please do not hesitate to contact us. We will happily help you with any legal need you might have. See main advert below

Why Men Can’t Win! Or perhaps more aptly worded as why men pass away first!
If you don’t ... you’re insensitive.
If you put a woman on a pedestal and try to protect her from the rat race ... you’re a male chauvinist. If you stay at home and do the housework ... you’re a pansy.
If you make a decision without consulting her ... you’re a chauvinist If she makes a decision without consulting you ... she’s a liberated woman.
If you work too hard ... there’s never any time for her If you don’t work enough ... you’re a good-for-nothing person.
If you ask her to do something she doesn’t enjoy ... that’s domination If she asks you ... it’s a favour.
If she has a boring repetitive job with low pay ... this is exploitation If you have a boring repetitive job ... you should get off your lazy behind and find something better. If you get a promotion ahead of her ... that is favouritism If she gets a job ahead of you ... it’s equal opportunity. If you cry ... you’re a wimp
If you appreciate the female form and frilly underwear ... you’re a pervert If you don’t ... you’re gay. If you like woman to shave her legs and keep in shape ... you’re sexist If you don’t ... you’re unromantic.

A-Z Of Spain Following on from The Sentinella’s journey through the alphabet to discover the joys of Spain. This month we take a look at what makes Spain ‘H’. Horchata: A thick creamy drink made from crushing tiger nuts. Treat yourself to a cold glass of the stuff on a hot summer’s day. The drink is served fresh in ice cream parlours, which leads us on to H number 2. Heladerias: Yes that’s right, ice cream parlours. Those places where you get to scoff piles of the yummy cold stuff piled to the brim in tall glasses laden with delicable sauces and other delights. Roll on the summer! Hotels: Spain would not be Spain without all those Hotels, offering the tourist a
comfortable place to stay. Heat: In England we all bored each other to tears about about how cold it was and it was usually a good ice breaker (excuse the pun). Here it is the opposite and instead come May everyone seems content with rambling on for months about how hot it is. Honey: In the Axarquia area some of the best honey in the whole of Spain is produced. That dark variety is the best, which actually tastes a cross between treacle and honey. I like it drizzled on top of porridge, an excellent sweetener and a far sight healthier than sugar.

The redcurrant (Ribes rubrum) is a member of the genus Ribes in the gooseberry family Grossulariaceae. The plant is native to parts of Western Europe (Belgium, France, Norway, Sweden, Germany, the Netherlands, northern Italy, northern Spain, Portugal and Poland). The tart flavour of the redcurrant fruit is slightly greater than the blackcurrant; however, they have the same approximate sweetness. Redcurrants are usually cultivated for jams and cooked preparations, but can be used for salads, garnishes, or drinks — plus they have health benefits too! The redcurrant has a lower glycaemic index value than many foods. This index ranks food and drinks based on their blood sugar increase potential. Foods high on the glycaemic index — like white rice and white bread — will break down easily and cause blood sugar and insulin level spikes after meals, which is followed by rapidly dropping blood sugar levels. The sugar from the redcurrant is slowly absorbed into the bloodstream, which prevents sugar crashes, sugar cravings and mood swings. One cup of redcurrants contains 77 percent of the vitamin C daily requirements. Vitamin C is a potent natural water-soluble antioxidant that helps the body develop resistance against infectious agents and eliminates cancer-causing free radicals in the body. Adequate vitamin C intake does not only improve and strengthen the immune system, but can also create and maintain collagen, an essential protein found in hair and skin. It also keeps the teeth and gums healthy and together with vitamin B, also helps with skin cell regeneration and promote healing from harmful UV ray damage.
One cup of redcurrants contains 10 percent of the mineral manganese, which is an essential factor in some enzymes important in antioxidant defences. The redcurrant can assist in red blood cell formation. Copper and iron are essential for the new blood cell formation. A deficiency of iron can lead to anaemia, fatigue and muscular weakness. Redcurrants are a good source of vitamin K, which functions in retaining calcium in the bone matrix. Sufficient vitamin K consumption may also reduce urinary excretion of calcium. One cup of redcurrants contains 15 percent of the daily recommended value of vitamin K. The redcurrant may help improve digestive health and fight constipation. The daily recommended dietary fibre intake for men and women is 38 grams and 25 grams respectively. Fibre helps prevent constipation, making your bowel movements easier to manage. It can also scrape cholesterol out of the arteries and blood vessels.

VetiverSpain - Now is the time to plant! Vetiver grass has many applications but its most common use is for solving erosion problems due to its 2-4 metre deep root system. For the fastest growth in most parts of Spain & Portugal early March is the best time to plant Vetiver. The reason is that Vetiver is indigenousness to India and loves the heat of summer, which is against what most people believe. If planted at this time you can expect to have mature plants 1-2 metres tall by Autumn. View our website for many applications and to see examples of dated photos showing the results of planting at different times of the year. Director: Charles Martin Smith Rating: PG Genre: Drama Cast: Bryce Dallas Howard, Jonah Hauer-King, ashley Judd, alexandra Shipp Barry Watson Bella is born as a stray who quickly finds her way into the arms of Lucas, a young man who gives her a good home. When Bella is separated from her owner, Bella sets off on a 400-mile journey to reunite with the man who gave her a good place to live and to return to the where she calls home.
Bella (played by dog actor Shelby and voiced in narration by Bryce Dallas Howard) was born in the tiny space of a semi-demolished home in Denver. Raised by a stray cat whom she refers to as “Mother Cat” after her own mother was taken away from her. along the way, the lost but spirited dog meets a series of new friends and touches the lives of an orphaned mountain lion, a down-on-his-luck veteran and some friendly strangers and manages to bring a little bit of comfort and joy to their lives. unfortunately, after the light-hearted beginning to this film, it was one heartbreaking scene after another. The violence walks a fine line, as the fight between Bella and the wolf pack might be a tad too terrifying for young children. Star Rating **/*****

Sultry actress Sophia Loren was born in 1934 in Rome, Italy, with the birth name of Sofia Villani Scicolone. Her father, Riccardo Scicolone, was married to another woman and refused to marry her mother, Romilda Villani, despite the fact that she was the mother of his two children (Sophia and her younger sister Maria Scicolone). Growing up in the slums of Pozzuoli during the second World War without any support from her father, Sophia experienced much sadness in her childhood, but her life took an unexpected turn for the best when, at age 14, she entered a beauty contest where she placed as one of the finalists. It was there that Sophia caught the attention of film producer Carlo Ponti, some 22 years her senior, whom she eventually married in 1966 once he finally obtained a divorce from his first wife. Under his guidance, Sophia was put under contract and appeared as an extra in ten films beginning in 1950, before working her way up to supporting roles. By her late teens, Sophia was playing lead roles in many Italian features and in 1957, she embarked on a successful acting career in the United States, starring in Boy on a Dolphin (1957), Legend of the Lost (1957), and The Pride and the Passion (1957) that year. She had a short-lived but much-publicized fling with co-star Cary Grant, who was 31
years her senior, and she rejected a marriage proposal from him. Sophia starred in several more films in America before returning to Italy in 1960 to star in the gritty film Two Women, for which she received a Best Actree Oscar — the first ever given for a performance in a "foreign-language" film. Sophia remained a high-profile international movie star throughout the 60s and 70s, starring opposite such leading men as Paul Newman, Marlon Brando, Gregory Peck, and Charlton Heston. During these years she received a second Oscar nomination and won five Golden Globe Awards. During her career, she was nicknamed “The Italian Marilyn Monroe.” From the 80s onward, Sophia's appearances on the big screen became fewer as she preferred to spend the majority of her time raising sons Carlo Jr and Eduardo. She did make a few TV films though, and ventured into other areas of business, becoming the first actress to launch her own fragrance and design of eye wear. In 1982 she voluntarily spent nineteen days in jail for tax evasion. In 1991 Sophia received an Honorary Academy Award for her body of work, and was declared "one of world cinema's greatest treasures." Sadly, her husband died that same year at age 94. In 2009, she appeared in the musical Nine opposite Daniel Day-Lewis. These days Sophia is based in Switzerland but frequently travels to Los Angeles to spend time with her sons and their families. She owns an apartment in the Trump World Tower in New York City.

The 45-year-old moved into the home in Essex in June 2018 but according to The Sun has not been paying her rent and now owes £5,000. She was due to be evicted from the house but is said to have voluntarily left the property after TV star Jeremy Kyle paid for her to enter rehab for three months. A source told The Sun Online: "It has taken a number of months to get her out of the property and it seems she only left when Jeremy Kyle offered to get her help. Danniella broke down in tears during a recent TV appearance as she revealed host Jeremy has helped her start her journey to a "drug-free life". I was 14 years clean but I could walk down Oxford Street with Jesus strapped to my back and people would still say 'cokehead'.”
Rebel Anne Anne Hegerty has revealed what drove her to become 'The Governess' on popular TV show The Chase — she said it was an “act of rebellion.” Anne was originally scouted after joining a quiz group. Now, she has confessed that what drove her to succeed was actually an act of rebellion against her mother Shirley. The 60-year-old made her admission while talking to her fans on Twitter. While discussing her new show, Britain's Brightest Family, with one fan, Anne tweeted: "I think it's good to encourage children (and indeed adults) to be as bright as they can, and applaud them for it. My mother always made a point of telling me how unimpressed she was when I passed an exam, and I've rebelled against that ever since." And it comes as her ex Liam Payne is rumoured to be dating supermodel Naomi Campbell. The Greatest Dancer judge joked that she would like to do some dirty dancing with the Black Panther actor, whom she met on The Graham Norton show last December. Viewers thought the 35-year-old had sizzling chemistry with Michael, 31, when they sat next to each other on the sofa on Graham's chat show. At one point, Cheryl burst into giggles when Michael looked at her and she pulled a series of faces. When she was later asked about their chemistry by Capital Breakfast show host Vick Hope at the Capital FM's Jingle Bell Ball, Cheryl said that "nothing's happening" between them, before jokingly adding: "yet"! Last month, the singer, who has 22-month-old son Bear with Liam, said she was open to dating anyone, regardless of their background or what they do for a living. Go Kirk! March Facts March is one of my favourite months, things start to heat up, the flowers start to bloom and it means summer is well on its way March was originally the first month of the Roman calendar and was named after the Roman god of war, Mars.
during the breeding season, which is in March. March is the first month of Spring which begins between March 19-21.
There are two birthstones associated with the month of March: aquamarine and bloodstone. The flowers are the daffodil or violet. St Patrick's Day falls on 17 March. It was on 29 March 1886 that Coca-Cola was developed. The original formula included a small amount of cocaine to give the drinker a bit of a buzz. Famous people born in the month of March include Albert Einstein, Vincent Van Gogh, Daniel Craig, Justin Bieber and Bruce Willis. The phrase ‘mad as a March hare’ comes from the view that a hare will behave oddly

Goldfish Facts Up until recently I owned two goldfish, named ‘Flip’ and ‘Flop’. I had one for 7 years and the other for 10 years, unfortunately during my last house move they passed away :( Here are some interesting Goldfish facts
A goldfish can grow to the size of its tank.
The goldfish is the most popular aquarium fish in the world. They are one of the most popular pets ever!
There are more than 300 different types of goldfish.
Over 480 million goldfish are sold every year. For every year of a gold fishes life the fish develops a ring on its scales. It’s a myth that goldfish have a 3 second memory. In fact, they can remember things for at least three months. If you keep a goldfish in the dark it will turn white. (One of mine did) Goldfish don’t have stomachs. A school of goldfish is called a “troubling.”
They eat their own poop. Goldfish can survive without food for more than three weeks.
Fishbowls are banned in parts of Italy.

Bodyworks Turmeric and Ginger it really does work
In this article I wanted to revisit the benefits of turmeric and ginger but this time from my own personal experience. As I detailed, in a previous article, turmeric and ginger have been used in eastern medicine for hundreds of years as natural anti inflammatories and recently they are becoming more and more popular in the western world. I began taking the supplement to help my thumbs which were inflamed from massaging and causing me pain. It took about 6 weeks for the supplements to absorb into my body and
begin to work but from then on the inflammation and pain in my thumbs disappeared. Over Christmas I was reminded yet again of the benefits as I was away and had forgotten to take my tablets with me. Just a week without them and I could feel my thumbs beginning to hurt again, proving how effective they are when taken regularly. A majority of my clients have also been adding turmeric and ginger to their diets and a lot of arthritis sufferers swear that the pain during acute phases is greatly reduced thanks to the supplements. I did speak to one client recently though who mentioned that she had been told turmeric counteracts the affects of statins. I have researched it and can´t seem to find any evidence to this fact but please check with your doctor before starting to take the supplements. By Amanda Edge, BscHonsRSA See main advert below

History Is All Around Us! It’s so easy to not know!... How many tourists wander around villages such as Frigiliana or Nerja, taking snapshots and selfies, enjoying the many restaurants and shops, sampling the local produce and without questioning their past? And yet villages such as these have amazing stories to tell, ones that shake you to the core when you read about them in books such as “Between Two Fires” by David Baird, who spent time talking to an older generation that has now passed on, about their experiences during and after the civil war, the hardships, the fears, the poverty and struggle. But history is all around us here in this beautiful part of Europe and it is everywhere! Ask any local and they will each have a story to tell. In my conversations with the many people I am lucky enough to meet in this job, I hear amazing tales. One woman told me about her parents witnessing the flood of civilians fleeing along the coast from Malaga to Almeria to escape the siege of the city during the war, where they were literally gunned down from ships trying to stop them. On another occasion, an old man from the village of Jatar, in Granada, told me of a time as a child when he came across “soldiers” in the mountains on his way home to the village, after feeding the animals at their old family
cortijo. The little boy, grinning with excitement, joined in the practice drill, while the men patted him on the head and laughed affectionately at his enthusiasm. But when his parents found out he got a severe beating and a stern word about the dangerous, anti-Franco ‘maqui’ guerrillas hiding in the mountains that he must “never speak to again!” Last month, I was showing a house I have now shown maybe 10 times to clients, in Canillas de Aceituno, and the lady who met me that day, told us about the wonders of their midday meals as a child, up on the terrace each day. They had no kitchen in the house. Their mother used a small portable cooker. “Oh, but the ensaladas catetas that we used to gobble up with glee,” Manoli told me, “and then barbequed sardines, those were the days!” and her face lit up with delight at those wonderful memories. And suddenly it’s not just an old house for sale, needing renovation, it’s a family home, full of memories and family moments. It is wonderful to talk to the locals, and there is so much to learn about this simple, sociable society we live in – I encourage everyone to talk more to the people around them and find out what stories they have to tell! A Walk To The Rock... ...in support of Homeless Veterans
supporting him, they will be successful
I DON’T SUPPOSE many of you reading this will have the first idea of the distance between Torrox, (Málaga) and Gibraltar. This is not because you are lacking in interest or indeed an education, it’s because it’s too far, and way too busy to even think about it. Well, it’s 111 miles to be precise, and two very fit young soldiers are about to undertake the task, to raise funds to help Homeless Veterans.
This walk in Spain will raise funds for SSAFA - Homeless Veterans, and although there are many charities that help with this problem, Craig wanted to raise the money for a military minded charity. His goal is to reach £2000 but anything is amazing.
The two walkers are Craig Dignam and Danny O’Connor, and they plan to set off from Torrox on the 17th of April, arriving in Gibraltar on the 20th/21st of April, no doubt very tired and hopefully very satisfied at reaching their target of £2000. On the subject of fundraising, you can make a donation to this endeavour at https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/Cr aig-Dignam3 Craig joined the Army as a 17 year old from Bradford, Yorkshire, joining the local Armoured Corps Regiment 4th/7th Royal Dragoon Guards. In his own words, “I have been extremely fortunate to serve in The Armed Forces for 36 years with many regiments and corps within and even though many of those years have been spent away from my parents and siblings and at times many months away from my children I have been blessed with being a member of a special big family who have seen me and my family through some poignant times.”. He currently works with all three of the Services, Royal Navy, Army and Royal Air Force in a HR Administrative roll. About 15 years ago he decided it was time to give back and started fundraising for local and national charities, but then decided to really challenge himself and try to keep fit at the same time. Long walks, it was decided, would have to be the way due to painful back injuries incurred during military service. So, with a fellow serving soldier from the Parachute Regiment, he decided to walk from Blackpool Tower to St Johns hospice in Lancaster - the task was completed in 10 hours, covering a distance of 46 miles. The Torrox to Gibraltar challenge will most definitely be Craig’s most challenging test, but one that means so much to him as it is becoming all too often to hear of old friends and members of the Armed Forces, living rough on the streets. He is confident that with Danny at his side, encouraging and
Craig and Danny and I will walk from Torrox along the south coast of Spain to Gibraltar Rock peak, which is approximately 111 miles, further than any of his previous challenges. Failure is not an option as they both believe so much what SSAFA are doing to support Homeless Veterans. Although the boys will have family to support them here on the ground, any help from the community here in Spain will be gratefully appreciated, if you can help in any small way please contact:- nickyandcraig7@gmail.com and don’t forget... https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/Cr aig-Dignam3 ...any donation at all will help Craig and Danny to get those that let us sleep sound in our beds at night, off the streets and into that which we, all take for granted!

Dear Penny Agony Aunt Penny gives readers, advice, help and guidance through the minefield called life.
Dear Penny
“Everyday I have a craving for dog biscuits and I have no idea why, or how to stop this craving from getting out of hand. Often when I am visiting friends and they throw their dogs a biscuit, I can’t help but delve into the bag when the owner’s turn their backs. So far I have not been caught out, but I would find it awfully hard explaining to people about my dog biscuit obsession. At home, I get through a big bag a day and the craving seems to be getting out of hand. Please give me some advice on how to stop dog biscuits from completely taking over my life.” Confused.com Penny says: “Perhaps you should start by throwing out all your dog biscuits and refilling your cupboards with real ‘human’ biccies. Custard Creams may take your fancy. Moving on to real biscuits is a first step, but even then over-indulging can have long-term health effects due to their high fat content. If you can’t throw out your dog biscuits then you really are barking mad, excue the pun! Book to see a shrink asap.”

Italian cuisine is renowned globally and enjoyed by many. Wine productions date back many hundreds of years and multi award-winning Italian wines and drinks are now available around the world.
This distillate has a prominent character and goes through five distillation phases. I found this vodka to be very smooth and great on its own or with ice.
The Bottega company is a most interesting family vintners and master distillers of outstanding wines, spirits and other beverages, with prizes, awards and accolades being collected, regularly, from prestigious competitions and events, worldwide. Located at Treviso, their bottles are eye-catching and distinguished, with creations by artisan crafts personnel.

Aromatic and with three distillation phases, this elegant, crystal clear spirit builds on its popularity and reputation, yearly. Grappa Riserva Privata Barricata, which also has three distillation phases, is a strong, amber-coloured delight, favoured by numerous connoisseurs. Made with pomace from dried grapes used for producing Valpolicella’s renowned red wine, Amarone (hence the great characteristics and structure), this aged spirit has an impressive bouquet, is very full on the mouthfeel and possesses a superb, long palate sensation. Grappas are perfect for an after-meal experience, as well as making very indulgent cocktails and long drinks.
Bottega Gin “Bacur” is a distilled dry gin, with a unique character. The name is derived from the ancient Greek population’s name for copper. Fragrant and natural ingredients, such as juniper berries from Tuscany, plus sage from the Veneto region and lemon zest from Sicily, are utilised to great advantage in this production. Elegant and with an excellent, balanced taste, this gin has many regular ‘devotees’. Bottega Vodka is produced using sugars obtained from pure grain.

Here at the family run Vaqueria we pride ourselves on our healthy approach to both life and business. Our menu caters for special diets, contains some organic produce fresh from our garden and we avoid palm oil. We support local businesses using local tradesmen for repairs and improvements, buying art and mosaic materials locally and sourcing ingredients locally and we recycle as best we can including creating interesting art out of what other people may regard as ‘rubbish’!! More recently we have freed up space for pilates, yoga, tai chi, dance fitness and line dancing classes. We also offer a private space to holistic healers and teachers (free of charge) for their meetings and treatments, we have a monthly Holistic & Wellbeing market from March to October and we keep our prices very affordable making all of these lovely things available to all....but....is this enough??? I don’t think so! Deep concerns about the huge amount of plastic being used and the environmental effects worldwide are troubling me... you can find it on Torre del Mar Beach, it is not just a problem round the other side of the globe. We would like La Vaqueria to be as plastic free as possible and would appreciate some feedback... ideas and suggestions or your experiences would be so helpful... contact Su Derrick or La Vaqueria on Fb or email: studio.20lavaqueria@hotmail.com thanks in advance

) : a h a h s e k o J Thanks to MP for the following jokes... A guy is browsing in a pet shop and sees a parrot sitting on a little perch. It doesn't have any feet or legs. The guy says aloud, 'Jeesh, I wonder what happened to this parrot.?’ 'The parrot says, 'I was born this way. I'm a defective parrot.’ ‘Holy crap,' the guy replies. 'You actually understood and answered me!' ‘I got every word,' says the parrot. 'I happen to be a highly intelligent and a thoroughly educated bird’ ‘'Oh yeah?' the guy asks. 'Then answer this, how do you hang onto your perch, without any feet.?’ 'Well,' the parrot says, 'This is very embarrassing, but since you asked, I wrap my penis around this wooden bar, like a little hook. You can't see it, because of my feathers.’ 'Wow,' says the guy. 'You really can understand and can speak English, can't you.?' ‘Actually, I speak both Spanish and English, and I can converse with reasonable competence on almost any topic, politics, religion, sports, physics, philosophy. I'm especially good at ornithology. You really ought to buy me, I'd be a great companion.’ The guy looks at the £200.00 price tag. 'Sorry, but I just can't afford that.' 'Pssssssst,' says the parrot, 'I'm defective, so the truth is, nobody wants me, cause I don't have any feet. You can probably get me for £20, just make the guy an offer.!' The guy offers £20 and walks out with the parrot. Weeks go by. The parrot is sensational. He has a great sense of humour, he's interesting, he's a great pal, he understands everything,
he sympathises, and he's insightful. The guy is delighted. One day the guy comes home from work and the parrot goes, 'Psssssssssssst,' and motions him over with one wing. 'I don't know if I should tell you this or not, but it's about your wife, and the milkman.' 'What are you talking about,?' asks the guy. 'When the milkman delivered today, your wife greeted him at the door, in a sheer black nightie.' 'WHAT???' the guy asks incredulously. 'THEN what happened?' 'Well, then the milkman came into the house, and lifted up her nightie, and began petting her all over,' reported the parrot. 'NO!' he exclaims, 'And she let him.?' 'Yes.Then he continued taking off the nightie, got down on his knees, and began to kiss her all over.' Then the frantic guy demands, 'THEN WHAT HAPPENED.?' ‘Dunno got a hard-on, and fell off my perch.!' ------------------------------------------------------------Girlfriend and boyfriend lyiing on the bed She says “Babe, a tiny penis isn’t such a big deal” “I don’t know Jenny, I kind of wish you didn’t have one at all” he replies ------------------------------------------------------------Dianne Abbot: “What if we can land a man on the sun?” Jeremy Corbin: “He would burn to death you stupid woman!” Dianne Abbot: “Not if we send him at night!” ------------------------------------------------------------Paddy goes to the bank to enquire about a loan. Jokes h a h a :) It got crowded in heaven, so, for one day it was decided only to accept people who had really had a bad day on the day they died. St. Peter was standing at the pearly gates and said to Mr. Green, "Tell me about the day you died." He said, "Oh, it was awful. I was sure my wife was having an affair, so I came home early to catch her with him. I searched all over the apartment but couldn't find him anywhere. So I went out onto the balcony, we live on the 25th floor and looked over and saw a bloke coming out the entrance at the bottom pulling his trousers up. I was livid so I got the refrigerator and pushed it over the balcony and it crushed him. The strain of the act gave me a heart attack, and I died." St. Peter couldn't deny that this was a pretty bad day and since it was a crime of passion, he let the man in. He then asked Mr. White about the day he died. "Well, sir, it was awful," he said "I was running very late for work so I was running out the door pulling my trousers up and bang, a fridge landed on me!” St. Peter chuckled, let him into heaven and decided he could really start to enjoy this job. "Tell me about the day you died?", he said to Mr. Brown. "OK, picture this, I'm naked, hiding inside a refrigerator ..." ------------------------------------------------------------Mr. Tickle wanted to marry the girl of his dreams, however Tess was reluctant to take on his surname ------------------------------------------------------------My wife said “Can you explain why I’ve just found a pair of knickers in your coat pocket?” I said “Yes, because you are a nosey cow!” ------------------------------------------------------------A recent survey found that three women are just as stupid as the other two
A robber walks into the bank and shouts “Freeze give me all your cash!” A brave customer pulls off the robber’s balaclava and says “I’ve seen your face now!” So the robber shoots him “Anyone else see my face?” the robber shouts Then someone pipes up “I think my wife caught a glimpse” ------------------------------------------------------------A man walks by a bar with a sign in the window that reads, "FREE BEER FOR LIFE. Enquire inside for details." So, the man walks in and goes to the bar. He asks the bartender about the sign. The bartender responds, "It's true. We will give you free beer for life, but you have to do 3 things. First, you have to drink this gallon of tequila." At that moment the bartender pulls out a plastic milk jug of the nastiest tequila. The bartender continued, "Second, we've got an alligator out back that has a sore tooth. We need you to pull it." The man hesitates for a second, but then asks, "Ok, what's the 3rd thing?" "Well, we've got a 80 year old prostitute upstairs and she's never had an orgasm. You have to give her an orgasm. Once you do these 3 things, you may drink here all you want for free for life.” The man thinks for a minute, and decides to go for it. He grabs the jug of tequila and starts working on it. He finishes the entire gallon. So, he gets up from the bar stool...slowly at first and then proceeds to walk confidently outside. Everyone in the bar hears all sorts of screaming and growling and other noises they don't even recognize, but after about 20 minutes the man comes back in, bloodied and clothes torn to shreds, and says, "Alright! Now where's that whore with the sore tooth?"

s e p o c s Horo by Juanita Banana of www.AbsoluteAxarquia.com ARIES: March 21-April 20 Being mindful during the month of March will protect you in all areas - body, speech and mind. You are a motivator, physically and mentally, and love to take on this role for which positive opportunities will arise TAURUS: April 21-May 21 Major planets are supporting Taurus during March, encouraging you to begin new projects which will be successful. You love hard work but remember to remain grounded and practical during your enthusiasm, fresh and ready to take on the world GEMINI: May 22-June 21 This month you have lots of energy to do things but try not to be impulsive or rash. It’s important to slow down a bit, and think twice before acting, recognising your thoughts are influenced, impermanent and may change
LIBRA: September 23 - October 22 Positive and supportive aspects in Libra this month mean a period of sincerity, insightfulness and affection, which you can use in a positive and inspirational manner to manifest lots of good karma SCORPIO: October 23 - November 21 March is a mixed bag for Scorpio, with complicated beneficial and squared aspects. You could be over excited with a plan which, in reality, is not as you first see it. In general beware of illusion(s) and visions of your own imagination or from someone close to you SAGITTARIUS: November 22 - December 21 You feel unsettled and need to find a way to cultivate detachment – walks or other outdoor activities, yoga and meditation, are all suitable paths and will help release the feelings that are bothering you. Use your natural wisdom to deal with emotions and take opportunities to awaken new realisations
CANCER: June 22-July 22 Compassion will help you maintain equilibrium this month through a period of feeling highly motivated, energetic, powerful and decisive. Be sure to take some time out for quiet meditation
CAPRICORN: December 22 - January 20 A quiet month for Capricorn – a time to be at peace with yourself, and to reflect and contemplate decisions. Spend time, and have fun, with an old friend, nurturing the relationship and being sensitive to their needs and feelings too – step outside of your comfort zone and give them a generous treat!
LEO: July 23-August 23 No need to indulge in fantasies as this month love, romance and sensuality seek you out. Cultivate awareness that will benefit both you and others in your environment and you can easily spread that love around with warmth and affection, especially during the last ten days of March
AQUARIUS: January 21 - February 19 With a huge heart and wonderful altruism, this month you are a spiritual and visionary centre for the universe! Temper enthusiasm and idealism with wisdom and use your power of speech to overcome and avoid problems for others
VIRGO: August 24-September 22 This month many things around you will seem hectic and busy. You will need to manage your energy in your usual orderly manner, be relaxed, calm and a centre of peace to those around you. The end of March brings happiness
PISCES: February 20 - March 20 There’s an abundance of energy, ambition and impulsiveness in Pisces this month. Enjoy the party and don’t let anyone blow your bright burning candle out. If you feel a little grumpy mid-month, slow down a tad to recharge
