m Fro Ed... the Now that Christmas has well and truly passed, I hope all your New Year resolutions are still in full swing! We can now start counting down the days to the next big event of the year — St Valentine’s Day, the day of lurrrve — on 14th February. This is a day for loving couples to enjoy spending time together, whilst the singletons among us would probably rather be at home that night with a good film, a blanket, a takeaway and a box of tissues! Traditionally, St Valentine’s Day was purely a celebration of love when you let the man or woman of your dreams know how you felt about him/her. Fast forward to 2019 and like so many special occasions, this has now been blown completely out of proportion — these days it involves spending lots of money on fine dining, partying the night away, buying fluffy love hearts, cards and possibly even furry handcuffs if that’s your ‘thing’! Did you know that around the world, people send roughly a billion cards decorated with red hearts and flowers? That’s a heck of a lot of cards. If you are wanting to buy your loved one a special card, be sure to visit ‘Second Time Around’ in Puente don Manuel where they have a great selection just waiting for your Valentine. See their advert on page 95. Well since this is the month of LOVE, I feel like sharing some about my lovely advertisers. I have had a busy month, and I have been using some of the services from local advertisers inside this little ‘Bible’ as recommended by a fair few people over the years. Firstly, when I moved house recently I used Hub Transport Services, who provided a very professional service and it was my smoothest move yet — and hopefully my last. I can thoroughly recommend them. Once moved in I needed heat, so owner Mark and his colleague from Esola Systems fitted an aircon unit for me and I have to say they did the most amazingly neat and tidy job I have ever seen. Then I needed some plumbing bits looking at in the bathroom and called on

Strange News Chris, a local plumber from Torre del Mar, who came straightaway and is currently in the process of fixing various things for me. Plus I had a broken dishwasher, and we all know who to call for this service — yes, brilliant Mick from Domestic Appliances — and I now have a fully functional machine. All in all, I’d like to say a big thank you to these people and all my other lovely advertisers too. You can see all their adverts throughout this magazine. If you happen to use the services of one of them, please do share the love that you receive and let them know that you saw their advert in The Sentinella Magazine. On that note, have a LOVEly month.

Calgon :) There's been some scumbag called Carl going round breaking in to people's houses for months, but the police can't catch him. The weirdest thing about it all, is he was breaking into people's houses and ruining their washing machines by putting bricks in to them and turning them on while helping himself to whatever he wanted!!!!! Really weird if you ask me... Anyway, just read that he was found dead in an alley coz of a drug overdose. It's never nice hearing of someone’s death, but on the bright side..... Washing machines live longer with Carl gone!
Pie Noon The World Pie Eating Championship in Wigan, Lancs, descended into ‘chaos’ last month after contestants were forced to change their filling to chicken to stop them breaking wind. It was the first time in its 26-year-long history the competition had not used red meat and potatoes. The decision was made in the wake of a recent scandal at a darts event where a competitor said he was put off by another player’s trumps. Officials said the move was necessary in order to make the event more enjoyable for onlookers. Despite fears that the last-minute change might upset the eventual results — as competitors had much less time to prepare — the title went to local man Martin AppletonClare for the fifth time. The winner of the contest is whoever eats a standard pie the fastest, and Martin won in a record time of 19.6 seconds. Catnip anyone? A mother was in the dog house with her daughter after buying her an advent calendar that was actually meant for cats. To compound her mistake, it took Jess Evans, 26, 11 whole days to realise that instead of eating chocolate, her daughter Alissa, nine, had been chomping down on catnip. The little girl endured four days of the green-tinged treats before refusing to eat any more, but Jess assumed she was just being picky. The mum-of-three was horrified when she turned the £1.99 Garfield calendar over only to discover the ‘apple flavoured chocolates’ were in fact yoghurt and catnip delicacies – for cats. Jess, from Oswestry, Shropshire, said: ‘I was in shock and felt like the worst mother ever when I realised I’d bought her a calendar for cats. ‘Alissa had said they looked a bit green but I thought they were probably just apple-flavoured ones and didn’t think anything of it. She said they tasted a bit strange, but hadn’t said they were horrible, so I just forgot about it. ‘Thankfully, she doesn’t seem to have suffered any ill effects.’

Strange News (Continued) Snow white — or not? Residents in one coal-mining Russian town were stunned when their usual brown snow mysteriously turned white. The authorities have been accused of using ‘modern technology’ to hide the effects of pollution with white paint. In a video posted on local media, a Russian woman reaches out her hand to brush a snow bank in the town of Mysky, Siberia. She comes away with white sticky paint coating her fingers, which had apparently been used to hide the soot and ash dirtying the snow. ‘You can see the stains. It even sticks,’ she told the Moscow Times while demonstrating the substance on her fingertips. Coal is big business in Russia’s Far East but it is having a devastating environmental effect. The painted hill was outside a municipal recreation centre, where many children go to play in the snow. The local nk-tv.com news website said: ‘Apparently, no white snow could be found around the city surrounded by coal mines so they had to resort to modern technology.’ Black snow is not uncommon in parts of Russia, which is the world’s sixth largest
producer of coal. The coal industry regularly releases large amounts of black dust into the air which, when it mixes with moisture in the atmosphere, causes black snow to fall. All secure Some people will do anything to avoid taking their car to the garage for a repair. An unnamed driver took some inspiration from Mr Bean and fitted bolts and padlocks to the outside instead of getting it fixed. Another driver spotted the handywork while he was driving in Barnet, North London, and couldn’t resist taking a snap of the silver Peugeot. The owner is believed to have taken his inspiration from Mr Bean when he famously locked up his mini with a padlock. ‘It’s just crazy,’ said the driver, who did not wish to be named. ‘It’s like he’s gone down to B&Q and spent £20 on locks. The thing that really got me is that he’s put the duct tape over the locks so that no water gets in!’

De Cotta Law Litigation in Spain As a law firm with clients from many different countries, we have the advantage of being able to advise companies and individuals in their own language on all aspects of Spanish litigation. This can range from debt enforcement to complex property matters including title and boundary disputes as well as seeking injunctions and court orders. We always seek a negotiated settlement first but if this fails we normally send a burofax prior to action. If no response is received, we would have to draft a full petition to the court with evidence supporting your claim. When dealing with unpaid debts, the evidence would normally be issued bills or a written loan or debt document. It is possible to enforce a verbal agreement, but it would still be necessary to have some evidence such as bank transfer documents showing monies paid. For companies, the corresponding bills – facturas – would need to have been issued and we can then make a monetary claim if the value is less than 3.000€. If the amount involved is more than 3.000€ a full court claim has to be made. Disputes between property owners are often settled by obtaining a survey – topografo – which can be provided with your title deed to show that your boundary has been infringed. If you cannot reach agreement, it may be necessary to provide this evidence to the court and ask the Judge to make a declaration. Another property issue that can arise is where a neighbour starts to build on your land or in front of your property and does not appear to have a licence. This would require an injunction which would bring a halt to the building prior to a full hearing of the matter. In this case many Judges will ask for a payment into court to protect the other party if their claim fails.
No two cases are alike in litigation so seek advice on your particular case. The claim would be for the amount owing plus legal interest and costs. You can also ask for your own costs to be paid by the other party, though these are not awarded in full in all cases. For anyone who is considering litigation it is important to get an idea of the costs which are the legal fees, court procurator fees, disbursements for travel to the courts and in some cases translations. Court costs are charged in some cases. Our specialist litigation lawyers Javier Florido and Reyes Gómez can assist you. Contact us on 952 527 014 or email info@decottalaw.net See main advert below

Insurance Claims Stupid statments to give you a chuckle... I had been driving for forty years when I fell asleep at the wheel and had an accident. I left for work this morning at 7am as usual when I collided straight into a bus. The bus was 5 minutes early. An invisible car came out of nowhere, struck my car and vanished. I knew the dog was possessive about the car but I would not have asked her to drive it if I had thought there was any risk. The accident happened because I had one eye on the truck in front, one eye on the pedestrian, and the other on the car behind. A couple vacationing in southern France filed
an insurance claim for the paint on their car after it got licked off by a herd of cows. Marc Thompson burned down his house while his 90 year old mother was inside in order to collect $730,000 of insurance. He is now serving 190 years behind bars. A family on vacation in England were in for a surprise when a parachutist landed on their equipment destroying most of it. The insurance company wouldn’t pay for the damages. A Virginia woman filed a claim against Cracker Barrel when she said she found a mouse in her soup. Upon closer inspection by the restaurant they determined that there was no cheese in the rodents lungs and therefore the mouse was not cooked with the food. The woman is now in jail for attempted extortion.

Random Jokes :) Getting old?! Look on the funny side of those rapidly progressing years... I feel like my body has gotten totally out of shape, so I got my doctor’s permission to join a fitness club and started exercising. I decided to take an aerobics class for seniors. I bent, twisted, gyrated, jumped up and down, and perspired for an hour. But, by the time I got my leotard on, the class was over.
“So you’re 96,” the undertaker commented. She responded, “Hardly worth going home, is it?”
Reporters interviewing a 104-year-old woman: “And what do you think is the best thing about being 104?” the reporter asked. She simply replied, “No peer pressure.”
I’ve become old! I’ve had two bypass surgeries, a hip replacement, new knees. Fought prostate cancer and diabetes. I’m half blind, can’t hear anything quieter than a jet engine, take 40 different medications that make me dizzy, winded and subject to blackouts. Have bouts with dementia. Have poor circulation; hardly feel my hands and feet anymore. Can’t remember if I’m 85 or 92. Have lost all my friends. But, thank god I still have my driver’s licence.
The nice thing about being senile is you can hide your own Easter Eggs.
Know how to prevent sagging? Just eat until the wrinkles fill out.
Just before the funeral service, the undertaker came up to the very elderly widow and asked, “How old was your husband?” “98” she replied. “Two years older than me.”
Don’t let ageing get you down. It’s too hard to get back up!

tax regime. Monaco is a tax haven. The country survives solely on the revenue generated by its tourism and casinos. Natives of Monaco are not allowed to gamble here and visit the casino. The rule is imposed by the country’s government, which does not want its citizens to gamble away their money. The casino is a source of income for the country and provides employment to its residents. Fishes are the only natural resource the country has. However, the country has the world’s third-highest Gross Domestic Product (GDP) nominal per capita at $115,700 (2015 est.) behind Liechtenstein and Qatar. The crime rate in Monaco is very low. This could mainly be because Monaco has more policemen per person than any other country. almost 30% of the population of Monaco is a millionaire. The national flag of Monaco is nearly identical to that of Indonesia. The first Monaco Grand Prix was held in 1929.

Currencies Direct News Pound strengthens despite Brexit uncertainty; will Article 50 be delayed?
recession has seen the euro struggle in recent weeks.
Staying on top of the latest currency news can help you time your transfers more effectively, so find out what you should be looking out for over the next couple of weeks…
The US dollar has also given up ground this month following a number of dovish signals from the Federal Reserve, with the US central bank now expected to adopt a more cautious approach to monetary policy in 2019.
Latest currency news The pound has found support in recent weeks, despite Brexit uncertainty only appearing to have heightened in in the last month.
What do you need to look out for? Brexit is expected to continue to dominate the pound over the coming month, with a potential extension to Article 50 likely to propel Sterling higher.
This upswing in Sterling has seen GBP/EUR climb from €1.11 to around €1.13 over the last month.
Meanwhile EUR investors are likely to remain focused on data coming out of the Eurozone, with any additional signs of a slowdown or a more dovish outlook from the European Central Bank likely to drag on the euro.
At the same time, the GBP/USD exchange rate has risen from $1.26 to $1.28, although it also briefly plummeted to a 20-month low of $1.24 on the way. What’s been happening? While it has remained volatile, the pound has consistently risen so far in 2019, largely on the back of diminishing fears of a no deal Brexit. This comes despite Theresa May’s Brexit deal being overwhelming rejected by Parliament as markets hope that MPs will now exert more authority over the process – potentially pushing to stop Brexit altogether. Meanwhile a run of gloomy data and fears that some of the Eurozone’s largest economies may be headed towards a
Finally the US dollar may come under increasing pressure this month, if fears begin to mount that the ongoing US government shutdown is dragging on US growth. A recent decision of the Spanish Supreme Court has unified the criteria in relation to the payment of tax that it is levied when removing someone from the title deeds (extinction of joint ownership). Until now, this tax was calculated on the total value of the property but now, it is based on the value of the percentage that is transferred. In other words, if a property is owned equally by Peter and Mary but they decide that Peter should be the sole owner, he will acquire Mary´s 50% share and the tax will be calculated on this — not on the total value of the property as previously. If, however, Peter owns 80% and acquires the 20% that belonged to Mary, the tax payable will only be calculated on 20% of the total value. The tax levied on this kind of transfer is stamp
additional amount might be possible, since we don’t know for sure which criteria they will finally follow. In order for the tax office to consider that there is an “extinction of co-ownership,” only one person may finally own the property outright. If, for example, there are three owners and only one of them sells his share to the other two, it is considered as a simple sale of a part of the property. In these cases, transfer tax at a rate of 8% would be payable, based on the value of the part of the property that has been sold. Tube Talk Some announcements made by tube drivers on The London Underground To the gentleman wearing the long grey coat trying to get on the second carriage, what part of stand clear of the doors don’t you understand?” At Camden Town station. “Please let the passengers off the train first. Please let the passengers off the train first. Please let the passengers off the train first!! Oh go on then, stuff yourselves in like sardines, see if I care. I’m going home.” Ladies and Gentleman, upon departing the train may I remind you to take your rubbish with you. Despite the fact that you are in something that is metal, fairly round, filthy and smells, this is a tube train for public transport and not a bin on wheels.” “I apologise for the delay leaving the station
ladies and gentleman, this is due to a passenger masturbating on the train at Edgeware Road. Someone has activated the alarm and he is being removed from the train.” “I am sorry about the delay, apparently some nutter has just wandered into the tunnel at Euston. We don’t know when we’ll be moving again, but these people tend to come out pretty quickly... usually in bits.”

What It Means To Be British! Here is a comment from a chap in Switzerland who lived in Britain for 12 years, on what it means to be British: “Being British is about driving in a German car to an Irish pub for a Belgian beer, then travelling home, grabbing an Indian curry or a Turkish kebab on the way, to sit on Swedish furniture and watch American shows on a Japanese T.V. And the most British thing of all? Suspicion of anything foreign!”.

Recipe Of The Month Impress your Valentine with a slice of Cherry Cheesecake. Yum - one of my favourites! Ingredients for the base 2oz butter 4oz digestive biscuits Ingredients for the cheesecake 12oz curd cheese 1/2 pt double cream 1 lemon 3oz sugar 1/4oz gelatin 3/4lb frozen or fresh stoned black cherries 2tbs brandy 1tbs icing sugar Method 1. Melt the butter and work the biscuit crumbs into it. Press mixture into the base of a loose bottomed 8-inch cake tin. Chill. 2. Put the cherries in the brandy and stir in the icing sugar.
3. Whip the cream until stiff. Sieve the curd cheese on to the cream and mix together. 4. Grate a little of the lemon rind and squeeze out about 1tbs of juice from the lemon. Add this to the cheese mixture. 5. Melt the gelatin in 2tbs of hot water and when almost dissolved stir carefully into the cheesecake mixture. Pile this on the biscuit base and chill for as long as possible, preferably overnight. 6. Before serving drain the cherries and spoon on to the cheesecake. Push cheesecake out of tin and serve. After all that make him wash up!

Impress Your Valentine Ah, you’re in love, feeling blissfully happy and on top of the world. Show your lucky Valentine just how much he/she means to you by following The Sentinella’s Dos and Dont’s Don’t... Buy your Valentine a box of your favourite chocolates, or let’s face it, you’ll end up scoffing them all yourself, leaving all the coffee creams for your disgruntled partner. Not a good move.
Do... Make the Cherry Cheesecake on page 48 and feed it to your Valentine with a chocolate coated spoon. Do... Wear something smart but sexy. Do not wear your usual every day clobber. Put in some effort and dress to impress. Do... Remember that it’s on Thursday 14th February. Do... Light candles, creat a romantic atmosphere and cuddle up on the sofa. After all that’s what being in lurrrve is all about.
Don’t... Take your Valentine for a meal in that restaurant where you know all your buddies are going. It’s meant to be a special day for just the two of you. Don’t... Even think about buying a card covered in hearts. Anything too OTT makes them run a mile.
Enjoy!

Valentine Tales Some of the traditions behind Valentines Day Hundreds of years ago in England, children would dress up as adults on Valentine’s Day and walk from house to house singing. One verse they sang was: Good morning to you, Valentine, Curl your locks as I do mine, Two before and three behind, Good morning to you, Valentine. In the Middle Ages, young men and women drew names from a bowl to see who their Valentines would be. They would wear these names on their sleeves for one week. To wear your heart on your sleeve now means that it is easy for other people to know how you are feeling.
and be very happy. If she saw a goldfinch, she would marry a millionaire. (Anyone know where the goldfinches hang out around here...!) In some countries, a young woman may receive a gift of clothing from a young man. If she keeps the gift, it means she will marry him. In Wales wooden love spoons were carved and given as gifts on February 14th. Hearts, keys and keyholes were favourite decorations on the spoons. The decoration meant, “You unlock my heart!”.
Some people used to believe that if a woman saw a robin flying overhead on Valentine’s Day, it meant she would marry a sailor. If she saw a sparrow, she would marry a poor man

What makes us different from other construction and reform companies in our sector is the way we
operate. Since we opened our physical shop, in addition to doing reforms and carpentry in our own workshops — which we have been doing for several years — we have now begun to work with Photorealism. In our shop, “Cocinas Y Parquets 5.0”, we offer our customers 3D decorative projects, examples of which are open concept kitchens, which are very fashionable at the moment. You can see and touch the materials and furniture that we are going to install in your homes, and most importantly, you can visualise how your design will look with our 3D images from several perspectives. Therefore, we invite prospective customers to visit us in our shop in Vélez Málaga, in Calle after Adeodato Altamirano no. 4. See main advert opposite

Fun Statements Have fun thinking about these mind-twisting statements
Never do card tricks for the group you play poker with.
The only substitute for good manners is fast reflexes.
Realise that no matter what you do, the grocery store check-out line you’re in will always take the longest.
Support bacteria - it’s the only culture some people have. When everything’s coming your way, you’re in the wrong lane and going the wrong way. If at first you don’t succeed, destroy all evidence that you tried.
No one is listening until you make a mistake. Anything you buy will go on sale the next day. All scarily true I think you’ll agree!
A conclusion is the place where you got tired of thinking. Experience is something you don’t get until after you need it. For every action there is an equal and opposite criticism. Bills travel through the mail at twice the speed of cheques.

Random Jokes :) John O'Reilly hoisted his beer and said, "Here's to spending the rest of me life, between the legs of me wife!" That won him the top prize at the pub for the best toast of the night! He went home and told his wife, Mary, "I won the prize for the Best toast of The night." She said, "Aye, did ye now. And what was your toast?" John said, "Here's to spending the rest of me life, sitting in church beside me wife." "Oh, that is very nice indeed, John!" Mary said. The next day, Mary ran into one of John's drinking buddies on the street corner. The man chuckled leeringly and said, "John won the prize the other night at the pub with a toast about you, Mary." She said, "Aye, he told me, and I was a bit surprised myself. You know, he's only been in there twice in the last four years. "Once I had to pull him by the ears to make him come, and the other time he fell asleep".
Indian Cuisine and more...
I took my dad to the mall the other day to buy some new shoes (he is 92). We decided to grab a bite at the food court. I noticed he was watching a teenager siting next to him. The teenager had spiked hair in all different colours: green, red, orange and blue. My dad kept starring at him. The teenager would look and find him staring everytime. When the teenager had had enough, he sarcastically asked, “What’s the matter old man, never done anything wild? Knowing my dad, I quickly swallowed my food so that I would not choke on his response, knowing he would have a good one, and in classic style he did not bat an eye in his response. “Got drunk once, and had sex with a peacock. I was just wondering if you were my son”.

Greek Mythology - Part 4 Time to look at some more Greek Mythology. If you’re walking around and you see a lady with snakes for hair, whatever happens don’t look at her eyes! Sirens - Beautiful half-woman, half birdlike creatures who sang such lovely songs that listeners forgot everything and died of hunger. So not so lovely after all then! The Sirens are sisters who lure sailors to their death. One of those tempted was Odysseus, who escaped from them by filling his crew’s ears with wax. Centaur - The Centaur’s are half man, and half horse. They have the body of a horse but, in place of the horse’s head they have the torso, head and arms of a man. Most are wild and they are known for their lustfulness and constant drunkenness. The Medusa - The Medusa was an ugly
creature, but she wasn’t always such an eyesore. The Medusa was the daughter of Phorkys and Keto, the children of Gaia (Earth) and Okeanos (Ocean). She was one of the three sisters known as the Gorgons. Medusa was the only mortal out of the three. She was once very beautiful and lived in the north where the sun didn’t shine. She wanted to see the sun and asked Athena for permission to visit the south. Athena refused. The Medusa became angry and told Athena it was because she was jealous of her beauty. Bad move! Athena punished her by turning her hair into snakes. She also put a curse on her so that whoever looked at her eyes turned into stone.

A-Z Of Spain Following on from The Sentinella’s journey through the alphabet to discover the joys of Spain. This month we take a look at what makes Spain ‘G’. Gibraltar dominates the entrance to the Mediterranean between the southern tip of Spain and the continent of Africa. It contains some of the most extensive military fortifications in Europe, spanning over 1,200 years of Moorish, Spanish and British history. As well as being riddled with caves. Gibraltar is also riddled with semi-wild apes, which are known for snatching onlooker’s hats and handbags! The cheeky monkeys. Granada, complete with beautiful gardens and narrow streets, is one of the pearls of Spain and as a result it is visited by tourists from all over the world. The city is located 70km from the coast and at the foot of the Sierra Nevada, Spain’s highest mountain, with great possibilities for winter sports. The highest peak, Mulhacen rises to 3,478 metres. Its most famous tourist attaction is without
doubt the Alhambra Palace, which is considered by some to be one of the 10 wonders of the world. The Alhambra is a massive castle constructed over many centuries, consisting of flourishing gardens and sumptuous palaces. It was home to many of the Arabic Sultans who ruled the province. Nowadays 8,500 visitors pass through the doors each day and it is recognised as Spain’s most visited monument. Gambas also known as prawns for those who didn’t know! Gambas pil-pil are peeled prawns, sizzled in clay pots with chilli, garlic and olive oil. I have recently become quite addicted to this dish and I have to say that Chef Josh, from La Tasca in Torre del Mar, opposite the Police Station makes the best prawn pil-pil I have tasted. Langoustines are large fat prawns rolled in sea salt, grilled and squeezed with lemon. Then there are those that are deep fried and served with a mayonnaise dip, or the far simplier gambas cocidas, unpeeled and cooked for one minute in salted water. This variety are often served as tapas.

Despite its unattractive name, ugli fruit has a rather appealing interior with a sweet flavour. It is a hybrid between a tangerine, a Seville orange and a grapefruit, and actually has many health benefits. It is loaded with certain minerals and vitamins, and packs only 45 calories per serving, making it an incredibly healthy addition to your diet. Ugli fruit has a high level of vitamin C, and contains an impressive quantity of dietary fibre. It also boasts an adequate amount of calcium, protein, vitamin A and iron. One serving of ugli fruit, which is roughly 50% of the fruit, contains 2 grams of dietary fibre, which is the part of plant foods that cannot be digested. It therefore minimises your chance of developing constipation by allowing your digestive system to operate more efficiently. The nutrient content also decreases your risk of getting Type-2 diabetes and heart disease and can help you manage your blood sugar and cholesterol levels. Since ugli fruit has a low-calorie level, it is perfect for those hoping to lose weight. The fruit will pack you with fibre, thus helping you steer clear of snacking in between meals and overeating. With a plentiful supply of catechins, flavonols and other antioxidants, ugli fruit is a great solution for skin inflammation and other issues like rosacea, psoriasis and eczema. The antioxidants are also capable of improving your skin’s appearance, clear up blemishes or age spots and minimise wrinkles. In addition to that, the key ingredients can help promote the growth of new skin cells and tighten up skin elasticity. The high levels of vitamin A present in ugli fruit are good indicators for eye health since vitamin A has been directly associated with reduced oxidative stress in the retina. This
can slow down the progression of macular degeneration and delay the start of cataracts with age. The dietary fibre level in ugli fruit can also assist in reducing your overall cholesterol levels, as well as balance your LDL and HDL levels, which can reduce your risk of heart attack, coronary heart disease and stroke. Moreover, pectin also supports your cardiovascular system. Pectin has been shown to decrease cholesterol levels — particularly in those at risk of developing coronary artery disease. The impressive vitamin C content present in ugli fruit also helps in the production of collagen in the body. Given collagen is crucial for each cell, blood vessel and tissue, an adequate quantity will help stimulate repair, growth and normal development. There are numerous key minerals present in ugli fruit that can help with bone mineral density and also minimise your risk of getting osteoporosis prematurely. There are rarely any healthy foods that do not impact your possibility of getting cancer in one way or another. This is because foods with positive nutrient value boost your body’s capacity to combat diseases. Cancer is merely a collection of damaged cells that come together and multiply.

Rating: PG Genre: Comedy Directed By: David Kerr Written By: William Davies Cast: Rowan atkinson as Johnny English Olga Kurylenko as Ophelia, Ben Miller as Bough, Jake Lacy as Jason, Emma Thompson as Prime Minister, adam James as Pegasus, Ben Miller as Bough, David Mumeni as Fabian, Miranda Hennessy as Tara, Samantha Russell as Swedish Prime Minister Johnny English (Rowan atkinson) has struck again, 15 years after the first movie, and
seven years after the sequel as the much-loved accidental secret agent in "Johnny English Strikes again". Of course he is the daft but hilarious secret agent with a tad of Mr Bean humour in him. The new adventure begins when a cyber-attack reveals the identities of all active undercover agents in Britain, the country's only hope is called out of retirement, leaving Johnny English as the secret service’s last hope. English dives headfirst into action with the mission to find the mastermind hacker. as a man with few skills and analogue methods, Johnny English must overcome the challenges of modern technology to make this mission a success. On Metacritic the film has an average score of 39 out of 100, based on 22 critics, indicating "generally unfavourable reviews" however, I love Rowan atkinson and give it a 4 star rating. Popular American actor Dick Van Dyke was born in December 1925 in West Plains, Missouri, USA. His full name is Richard Wayne Van Dyke, and his family tree includes English, Scottish, German, Swiss-German and Dutch ancestors. He made his acting debut playing the baby Jesus in a church Christmas pageant, but was told he cried all the way through it. Before he was a successful actor and a comedian, he did everything from working in an advertising agency to becoming a disc jockey. He performed in several variety shows while serving in the United States Army during World War II, when he was a radio announcer. Dick was so poor that in order to be able to marry Margie, the couple appeared on the US TV show “Bride and Groom” because the show paid for the wedding rings, a honeymoon and household appliances. After this, they lived in a car for several months. Margie and Dick had four children: Barry Van Dyke; Carrie Beth van Dyke; Christian Van Dyke and Stacy Van Dyke, and there are seven grandchildren. Various family members often appear alongside him in his popular TV series Diagnosis Murder, which co-stars his son Barry. Although he'd had small roles beforehand, Van Dyke was launched to stardom in the 1960 musical "Bye-Bye Birdie", for which he won a Tony Award, and three years later, he starred in the movie based on that play. He has starred in a number of films over the years including Mary Poppins (1964), Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (1968) and Fitzwilly (1967), as well as a number of successful television series — which won him four Emmys — and
After separating from Margie in the 1970s, Dick became involved with Lee Marvin’s ex Michelle Triola until her death in 2009, paying her the six-figure ‘palimony’ settlement for which she had unsuccessfully sued Marvin. He married Arlene Silver in 2012. His role as Rob Petrie in The Dick Van Dyke Show was one of the most-watched during the 1960s, and ran to 158 episodes. His comic inspiration was Stan Laurel. He says he was able to find him by looking up his name in the phone book in Santa Monica, California, where Laurel lived. He called and Laurel invited him over. The two became good friends. When Laurel died, Van Dyke delivered his speech at the funeral. Dick says that his most memorable role is that of Bert the chimney-sweep in Mary Poppins, but his fake Cockney accent became the subject of so much mockery that a “Dick Van Dyke accent" is now an accepted slang term for an American's unsuccessful attempt at any British accent. In 1968, he left Hollywood and bought a ranch in Arizona, and overcame alcoholism in the 1970s. He has dabbled in computer animation since the 1980s. Using Newtek's Lightwave 3D from home, he created and animated a CG version of himself that he danced with on The Dick Van Dyke Show Revisited (2004). Although Van Dyke is now a committed non-smoker, he admits that he used to smoke 40-50 cigarettes a day.

The singer, runner-up on Britain's Got Talent in 2009, has returned for spin-off America's Got Talent: The Champions. She automatically made it through to the finals with her rendition of Wild Horses thanks to judge Mel B, who pressed the gold button for her. Susan impressed all the AGT judges, with boss Simon Cowell, 59, telling Susan he was "beyond thrilled" to have her back on the show. The Scottish star was runner-up to dance group Diversity almost ten years ago in Britain’s Got Talent. Now, she's hoping to finally bag that win a decade on. Explaining that this is her "second chance", she said on AGT: "I'd love to win". After her appearance on the US show, hordes of viewers took to social media to praise SuBo's return to the limelight. Susan, who has sold over 20 million records since she found fame on BGT, will compete in the America's Got Talent final on 18 February. Troubled Linda A news report has said that the family of Birds of a Feather actress and Loose Women star Linda Robson have called 999 twice recently after she has a "meltdown" and showed "erratic behaviour." Insiders told The Sun: "It all got a bit too much for Linda and the family, and that’s why they called in police and experts. "The family reached breaking point as Linda’s behaviour was becoming more erratic. They were worried she might hurt herself." The 60-year-old ITV panellist has previously revealed she suffers with anxiety and health fears. She's also admitted to going too far

with her recent three-stone weight loss, vowing to put some back on. Police confirmed to The Sun that officers attended Linda's home in London — where she lives with her husband Mark Dunford, 58 — "following concerns for an occupant." Fans rushed to offer their love to Linda, with one tweeting: "So sorry to hear she is having a bit of a rough time at the moment. Such a lovely funny lady." Another commented: "Hope she’s ok and gets better." Peggy power Adam Woodyatt and Jake Wood are among the EastEnders stars who have joined forces to raise £100,000 by running the London Marathon in support of Dame Barbara Windsor. Jake — who plays Max Branning — said he was "proud” be helping raise money for charity Dementia Revolution, set up by the iconic actress' husband, Scott Mitchell. Other EastEnders stars getting involved include Walford regulars Natalie Cassidy (Sonia Fowler), Tanya Franks (Rainie Branning), Emma Barton (Honey Mitchell), Jamie Borthwick (Jay Brown), Jane Slaughter (Tracey the barmaid) and Kellie Shirley, who previously played Carly Wicks. Barbara, who played matriarch Peggy Mitchell for more than 10 years, was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in 2014, and is much loved by all the cast at EastEnders. Sadly, it has been revealed that in the space of just a few weeks, her illness has escalated to the point where she does not recognise her husband or her home. The group is raising money for Dementia Revolution, a year-long campaign from Alzheimer’s Society.

Second Time Around - Puente Don Manuel Welcome to Second Time around, where everything deserves a second chance. This name is the brainchild of Geoff, who did all the incredible adverts when we owned Arkwrights. People have since mentioned that it’s apt because of being the second time in our original shop, they say we have come full circle. We originally started Second Time around as we had unwanted items to sell, these were swiftly put back into boxes when we were overwhelmed with goods from customers, old and new. So much so that we had to open our stock room and now are in the process of sorting out our spare bedroom to stock goods brought in from far and wide. We must be doing something right! Our first week of opening we were approached to start stocking Greetings Cards, as there wasn’t anyone stocking the quality, selection and price that we are known for. We have been complimented so many times since, on our range of cards, which is increasing on a weekly basis, starting from an
unbelievable .10cts per card. We are proud to be a supplier of Oriflame, this is a well known Swedish brand celebrating their 52nd year. Oriflame has incredible products including cosmetics, toiletries, perfumes, jewellery and accessories. They also have Wellbeing products, which are extremely popular throughout the world. They are also proud of their Novage sets, which they claim sell one a minute worldwide. The appeal to us selling Oriflame is that it is not tested on animals and that it has a 30day money back guarantee. They have a catalogue out every three weeks, which are available in the shop, together with samples to try before you buy. We also support animal, cancer, children and homeless charities. Feel free to browse around our shop Tuesday to Friday 9am to 4pm, Saturdays 9am to 2pm. We look forward to seeing you! See main advert opposite

Words Of Wisdom To my friends who enjoy a glass of wine, and those who don't, and are always seen with a bottle of water in their hand, Ben Franklin said: "In wine there is wisdom, In beer there is freedom, In water there is bacteria." In a number of carefully controlled trials, scientists have demonstrated that if we drink 1 litre of water each day, at the end of the year we would have absorbed more than 1 kilo of Escherichia coli, (E.. Coli) - bacteria found in feces. In other words, we are consuming 1 kilo of poop annually. However, We do NOT run that risk when drinking wine and beer
(or rum, whiskey or other liquor) because alcohol has to go through a purification process of boiling, filtering and fermenting. Remember: Water = Poop, Wine = Health Therefore, it's better to drink wine and talk stupid, than to drink water and be full of s***

Fitness February Almost all of us would have put “getting fit” as one of our New Year´s Resolutions and hopefully you have already begun your exercise in January. One problem I have found with clients is that they tend to get overexcited with their new found enthusiasm which can sometimes lead to overtraining. I can hear you all saying “WHAT..now I finally have dragged myself off the sofa and am pushing myself to do exercise, you are telling me to slow down!!!” This isn´t the case with most but a few of us tend to be all or nothing and as important as exercise is, it is just as important to rest and recover between sessions.
This can then lead to overuse injuries for example muscle strains and tendonitis which then can set back training by weeks. So the conclusion to this is start your exercise slowly, build up your fitness over time and listen to your body, when it tells you to rest then rest. If you find you have caused yourself any injury or simply would like a massage to ensure your muscles are recovering well after exercise, please contact: Amanda Edge, BscHonsRSA, is a fully qualified ultrasound therapist. See advert below.
Overtraining occurs when the volume and intensity of the exercise exceeds an individual's recovery capacity. They cease making progress, and can even begin to lose strength and fitness."

Old Sayings A selection of sayings that originated in bygone days: To let the cat out of the bag means a secret has been told! In medieval markets suckling piglets were delicacies. While haggling was occuring between buyer and stall holder a cat was often put in the bag instead of the piglet. The tricked buyer would only realise this when he arrived home and let the ‘cat out of the bag.’ As drunk as a Lord. In the 19th century the nobility and landowners held hunting parties which normally involved consuming vast amounts of alcohol! At the end of the hunt they would visit the local Inns and Taverns, by this stage completley drunk. Their tenants were never in a position to afford such drinking, but when they could, they were described as ‘drunk as a Lord’. Eating Humble Pie. After the hunt would
follow the Banquet where venison would be served. The offal, which was known as ‘umbels’, was baked in a pie and served to the servants. They were seated separately and given ‘umble’ pie. Hair of the dog that bit you is considered a ‘cure’ for a hangover. It has a strange medical origin; if you were bitten by a dog the hair of that dog, rubbed into the wound, would make it better! Hmmm, or maybe not.

Beautiful Places - Cortijo La Jacaranda... ...how about owning a mango farm? Mango growing is the in thing now round these parts – the river valley of Velez-Malaga, along with all the tributary rivers that criss cross through the countryside and join the main river valley, down to the sea, is perfect for tropical fruit growing. Only add the one element manually that you get plenty of in the tropics, but not so much here – water! (via drip feed irrigation is the answer). One thing I am increasingly being asked for is properties that can sustain an income other than letting out a casita or rooms in one’s house to tourism and mango production is a logical alternative opportunity. Cortijo Jacaranda is the result of the hard work and sweat of the current owner, offering just that alternative. This lovely property is set in 12,000m2 of land, on a secluded, sunny hillside just a few minutes drive from the village of Triana. It is replete with beautiful young mango trees, swaying gently in the breeze, every dark, green leaf shining in the sunshine! And these lovely beauties (there are around 800 of them at the moment on this farm) are already producing around 6000 Kgs
of ripe, juicy mangos each year, set to double as the trees grow and develop further. Yes, mango production is hard, sometimes back-breaking work, but so is letting rooms in a house, but it is a wonderful alternative, a new skill to learn, and a great way of keeping fit, perfect for recently retired ex-pats. It’s also the perfect way to get to know the locals and learn the language quickly, working with them and supplying the mangos to the local export depots. Apart from the work on the farm, Cortijo Jacaranda is a spacious, detached home, with good sized rooms, lovely terraces and a sea view, plus pool. There is also a useful ‘apero’ or outbuilding, for storing tools and equipment, that also has a bathroom, which on occasions might also be used as accommodation. Anyone who is interested in knowing more about mango production and the potential of purchasing a property such as Cortijo Jacaranda, please get in touch. Dear Penny Agony Aunt Penny gives readers, advice, help and guidance through the minefield called life.
Dear Penny
...I am a 26 year old male and I have a really embarrassing problem in that I have never had a girlfriend. I went to an all boys’ school and as a result I have absolutely no idea how to act around the opposite sex. Now that I live in Spain it is even more difficult to meet girls, as my Spanish is appalling and I am afraid that if I try to talk to one, she will just laugh at me in front of all her friends. Can you give me some tips on how to meet a nice girl? Confused.com Penny says: Hocus Pocus! I’m afraid these words just won’t do it. There is no magic formula to finding a girlfriend, nor are there any specific ways to go about it. However, maybe it would be an idea to lose your ‘desperate’ banner, and replace it with one that screams ‘cool’. Girls love a bloke who plays hard to get and hates those who initially try making too much of an effort. Forget corny chat up lines, forget showering them with compliments. Just play it cool, have a chat, build friendships and soon you’ll be fighting them off with a stick! Oh... and take some Spanish lessons... quickly!

LIBRA: September 23 - October 22 Relax and do what seems most appropriate this month Libra, as there’s not much to really challenge you. Your motivation and natural wisdom will keep your actions and thoughts in balance
TAURUS: April 21-May 21 This month, whilst still retaining bags of energy, be prepared that it could dwindle as Mars loses aspect to Jupiter. When feeling an irresistible desire to act, try to do so with mindful awareness, ensuring there’s no confusion, and thinking twice. Remain in a grounded and practical comfort zone and allow your actions to be motivated by wisdom and compassion GEMINI: May 22-June 21 Geminis are quick on their intellectual feet but this month should also listen to, and benefit from, using your intuition as a different source of inspiration and an awakening of insight CANCER: June 22-July 22 This month Venus is in opposition to your sign. In the areas of love and affection, this influence may create a little dissatisfaction initially which will slowly improve as February progresses. Feelings play a large role for Cancerians but it’s important that you should also reflect on significancy LEO: July 23-August 23 This month starts with a very thoughtful attitude, perhaps a little trepidation, but also a clear motivation and an expectation that if something is good it takes time to manifest. By mid-month more opportunities are opening up VIRGO: August 24-September 22 There’s a quiet first two weeks of February in store for Virgo before things start to happen. You may find thoughts spontaneously manifesting, making meditation and concentration complicated. Remember to breathe, keep the breath connected
SCORPIO: October 23 - November 21 You are passionate Scorpio but this month it’s advised to slow down and double check what you are doing and, above all, your intention. Be aware of your boundless energy and overactive imagination that may distract you! SAGITTARIUS: November 22 - December 21 You are an inspired individual who would profit from a daily meditation before you begin each day. From this clear motivation will become apparent, compelling your success on a daily basis and upon your whole life CAPRICORN: December 22 - January 20 With Venus moving into Capricorn this month you should be feeling content in relationships and love. Reflect on, and plan, any work projects and fun schemes for the last two weeks of February when they have a high probability of being successful AQUARIUS: January 21 - February 19 The first ten days of February are great for intuitive work – use the beneficial aspects of this for important decisions you have to make. The latter part of the month will manifest your wishes. Shine like the sun at midday Aquarius, be sociable, and share your good energy with everyone. Offer thanks and gratitude to your parents PISCES: February 20 - March 20 The peace of January dissolves when entering mid-February your mind becomes very active and you feel excited about almost everything you’re doing. You are naturally sensitive and mostly introspective, therefore needing to balance this activity of mind with mindfulness and peace
