m Fro Ed... the It’s that romantic time of the year again, when the lucky in love are treated with fluffy hearts, flowers, cute teddy bears and chocolates with messages of love — maybe even champagne. Many other gift items are purchased for this day too, ranging from fragranced rose petals to cute cupids and sexy props. The shops and restaurants certainly cash in on the special occasion, so be sure to reserve your red roses or book that romantic table for two in that swish restaurant you have been eyeing up! The first recorded Valentine's Day was celebrated in the year 496. It’s thought to have originated from a Roman festival called Lupercalia in the middle of February. As part of that celebration, boys drew the names of girls from a box. They would become boyfriend and girlfriend during the festival and sometimes, they'd even carry on and get married. Some years later, the church wanted to turn this festival into a Christian celebration and decided to use it to remember St Valentine too. Gradually, St Valentine's name started to be used by people to express their feelings to those they loved. What’s so special about this year’s Valentine’s Day? Well, it’s a leap year and you know what that means — apart from the fact it’s the first of the new decade and has 29 days, that is! Yes, it means that women are officially “allowed” to pop the question and propose to their partners; in fact, many do! According to an old Irish legend, St Brigid struck a deal with St Patrick to allow women to propose to men – and not just the other way around – every four years. So if there are any ladies out there brave enough, go for it. We wish you the best of luck and hope you get the answer you desire.

Strange News school age can enjoy a nice week of NO school, when a few events are celebrated. There’s Semana Blanca, when people celebrate the independence of Andalucía. It starts on Monday 24th February and runs until Sunday 1st March, and always includes Andalucían day, known as ‘Dia de Andalucía.’ This is a public holiday in the state, and falls on Friday 28th. Also coinciding with this week, the fabulously colourful carnival season begins. So it’s a busy month all round and on that note, perhaps the song ‘Love Is In The Air’ is appropriate as background music while we work and play. We look forward to hearing from any ladies who successfully pop the question on that special day, too! Meanwhile, as ever, enjoy the read!

Brexit sprouts? Major UK supermarket Morrisons has been mocked after it changed the name of the traditional Christmas vegetable, Brussels sprouts. The vegetables were re-named by the supermarket chain after various UK counties, but a spokesman denied accusations that it was appealing to shoppers who did not like the EU. Morrisons said it had swapped the name because customers wanted to know where their food came from, calling the sprouts “Lincolnshire,” “Scottish” and “Yorkshire” instead of “Brussels.” The debate appears to have originated with a tweet from Brexit Party MEP Lucy Harris who tweeted Morrisons saying: "Pretty cool that @Morrisons is replacing 'Brussels' with the sourced county." S’nore revenge A dad is preparing himself for his wife’s revenge after he tattooed a ‘horrific’ photo of her snoring onto his thigh. James McGraw and wife Kelly have been playing practical jokes on each other for more than 24 years. However, mortified Kelly claims he has now ‘crossed the line’ with his latest inking. The latest round of tit-for-tat began when Kelly left James with a ‘questionable haircut’ just before he set off on a lads’ holiday. He then visited his tattoo artist friend Gary Stevens, who spent eight hours branding him with his wife’s face. James even claimed to have left his wallet at home and made Kelly pay £300 for the artwork. He said he was particularly proud of his latest stunt, adding: “Every time I look at my wife now I just laugh. “I was in her bad books for a little bit but she knows it was a joke — however the fact I can’t stop laughing whenever I see her is making it worse. “At the moment I’m winning, but I’m quite scared to be fair — I don’t know what she’s planning next.” Kelly admitted she is used to James’ practical jokes – but stressed he had crossed the line. She commented: “I was horrified. I’ll think of something to get him back, but it’s going to have to be really, really bad to top that.”

Strange News (Continued) Bah humbug Teachers have been accused of being ‘bah humbug’ after a girl was threatened with being sent home over her hairdo. Poppy Leigh, 13, wanted to be festive in her last week of school before Christmas so fashioned a Christmas tree out of her hair. But when she turned up at Manchester Health Academy, she was told she would either have to take the lights out or go home. The year eight pupil created the do by wrapping her hair around an empty plastic water bottle, and her mum, Christie, added the battery-powered lights. “It’s just bah humbug,” said Christie. “It was just a bit of fun and Christmas cheer before she broke up for the holidays. “One of the teachers said her hair looked fantastic, but she was told to take it out or go home. She loves school and is one of the top students, so she had to take it out.” School principal Keven Green said: “The Academy has the highest of expectations around uniform, teaching and learning.”
Bats in the belfry Having a mouse in the house is bad enough, but one family in Lviv, Ukraine, had to contend with something far spookier. They found their flat invaded by around 1,700 amorous bats, who chose the high-rise building to become their love nest. They found their way onto an enclosed balcony and settled down ‘everywhere’ – including in cupboards, drawers, and even sacks of vegetables. Bat scientist Dr Andriy-Taras Bashta, who was called in to deal with them, said: “They were engaged in what the bats do at this time – mating. When we counted them, there were about 1,700 in all.” They were all released alive, and the flat owners have now closed the gap used by the bats to access their balcony.

Love Quotes As it’s the month of Love, here are some deep and meaningful Love Quotes to think about! 1) If you love somebody, set them free. If they return, they were always yours, if they don’t, they never were. 2) Friendship often ends in love; but love in friendship never. 3) You don’t love a woman because she is beautiful, but she is beautiful because you love her. 4) Love has nothing to do with what you are
expecting to get, it’s what you are expected to give - which is everything. 5) Love builds bridges where there are none. 6) Love can sometimes be magic. But magic can sometimes... just be an illusion. 7) Love is like the sun coming out of the clouds and warming your soul. 8) Life without love is like a tree without fruit. 9) To the world you may be one person, but to one person you may be the world. 10) The greatest thing you’ll ever learn is just to love and be loved in return. 11) If you judge people, you have no time to love them. 12) Love me and the world is mine.

New Bio Beach Club Restaurant In El Morche At the end of January, a new Bio Restaurant opened its doors in a wonderful location on the seafront of El Morche. Owners Eric and Gabi hosted a wonderful opening night with hundreds of people in attendance, all enjoying a range of delicious tapas whilst listening to musicians and sipping drinks, perusing the art gallery and having the opportunity to purchase some bio fruit and vegetables. Bio Beach club restaurant is open all year round from 9am until 11pm — closed on Tuesdays — and offers a fantastically large menu for all tastes and special types of dietary needs. The menu has Mediterranean, European, ecological and its own selection of dishes. It caters for all with a whole range of special diets, clearly marked on the menu. These include vegetatian, vegan, sin gluten, sin lactosa and always state if the dishes include nuts. It’s a busy kitchen, with food being served from as early as 9am, starting with breakfast, then brunch and lunch or just a snack, followed by dinner in the evening.
You can also just pop by for a nice warming coffee and enjoy the fresh air on the terrace overlooking the sea. Or you can sit inside the seventy seater restaurant — and don’t forget there are many Bio products too, such as lactose-free milk, soja milk, almond milk and gluten-free and vegan desserts. Each month, the restaurant will exhibit a beautiful art gallery — you can read more about this month’s selected artist on page 88. There is even room for yoga classes and a small library where you can collect a copy of your favourite Sentinella magazine each month. The restaurant is child-friendly, has access for wheelchairs, free wi-fi, a fantastic selection of alcoholic beverages including Bio cocktails, and has the best personalised service you could imagine. It really is a wonderful restaurant, and Eric and Gabi are waiting to meet and spoil you. See main advert below

Funny Limericks A limerick is a form of verse, usually humorous and frequently rude, in five-lines in which the first, second and fifth line rhyme, while the third and fourth lines are shorter and share a different rhyme There was a young girl from Rabat, who had triplets, Nat, Pat and Tat; It was fun in the breeding, But hell in the feeding, When she found she had no tit for Tat. ------------------------------------------------------------A macho young swimmer named Dwyer, Really liked playing with fire. One night in the dark, He swam with a shark, And his voice is now two octaves higher. ------------------------------------------------------------‘Tis a favourite project of mine, A new value of pi to assign. I would fix it at 3, For it’s simpler, you see, Than 3 point 1 4 1 5 9 -------------------------------------------------------------
There was a young fellow of Crete Who was so exceedingly neat. When he got out of bed, He stood on his head To make sure of not soiling his feet. ------------------------------------------------------------There once was a young man from Lyme Who married three wives at a time. When asked, "Why a third?" He replied, "One's absurd, And bigamy, sir, is a crime!" ------------------------------------------------------------There once was a man from Nantucket, Who kept all his cash in a bucket. His daughter, named Nan Ran away with a man, And as for the bucket, Nantucket. ------------------------------------------------------------At times I’m so mad that I’m hopping. My angriness sets my veins popping. I yell and I curse, With swearwords diverse, But my wife does much worse: she goes shopping"

Per Capita - 1,968.56 USD Total Area - 923,768 sq km National Sport - Football Interesting Facts... Nigeria is a former British colony that was granted independence in 1960. Since then it has been largely unstable,
lurching from one military coup to another. However, Nigeria does now have an elected leadership, but the government faces a tough task in preventing the breakup of the nation along ethnic and religious lines. The majority of the Nigerian people are either Muslims or Christians with 50% and 40% of the total population, but in total there are over 250 ethnic groups with a distinct culture and traditions. Nigeria is also one of the most diverse countries in the world in terms of indigenous languages spoken on a regular basis. Experts estimate that more than 500 different languages are spoken in the country. At least 60% of Nigerians live below the poverty line, existing on less than a dollar a day. Unfair distribution of the country's oil wealth, as well as political, ethnic, and religious conflicts have put a strain on Nigerian society. About 75% of the total population uses social media on a regular basis. What’s unique for the Nigerian population is that the majority uses a smartphone rather than a computer or laptop.

Who Is The Stronger Sex?! Why women are crabby We started to 'bud' in our blouses at 9 or 10 years old only to find that anything that came in contact with those tender, blooming buds hurt so bad it brought us to tears. So came the ridiculously uncomfortable training bra contraption that the boys in school would snap until we had calluses on our backs. Next, we get our periods in our early to mid-teens (or sooner). Along with those budding boobs, we bloated, we cramped, we got the hormone crankies, had to wear little mattresses between our legs or insert tubular, packed cotton rods in places we didn't even know we had. Our next little rite of passage was having sex for the first time which was about as much fun as having a ramrod push your uterus through your nostrils (IF he did it right and didn't end up with his little cart before his horse), leaving us to wonder what all the fuss was about. Then it was off to Motherhood where we learned to live on dry crackers and water for a few months so we didn't spend the entire day leaning over Brother John. Of course, amazing creatures that we are (and we are), we learned to live with the growing little angels inside us steadily kicking our innards night and day making us wonder if we were preparing to have Rosemary's Baby. Our once flat bellies looked like we swallowed a whole watermelon and we peed our pants every time we sneezed. When the big moment arrived, the dam in our blessed Nether Regions invariably burst right in the middle of the shopping centre and we had to waddle, with our big cartoon feet, moaning in pain all the way to A&E. Then it was huff and puff and beg to die while the Nurse says, 'Please stop screaming, Mrs. Hearmeroar.. Calm down and push. 'Just one more good push' (more like 10), warranting a strong, well-deserved impulse to punch the %$#*@*#!* hubby and doctor square in the nose for making us cram a wiggling, mushroom-headed 10 pound bowling ball through a keyhole. After that, it was time to raise those angels only to find that when all that 'cute' wears off, the beautiful little darlings morphed into walking, jabbering, wet,
gooey, snot-blowing, life-sucking little poop machines. Then come their 'Teen Years.' When the kids are almost grown, we women hit our voracious sexual prime in our early 40's - while hubby had his somewhere around his 18th birthday. So we progress into the grand finale: 'The Menopause', the Grandmother of all womanhood. It's either take HRT and chance cancer in those now seasoned 'buds' or the aforementioned Nether Regions, or, sweat like a hog in February, wash your sheets and pillowcases daily and bite the head off anything that moves. Now, you ask why women seem to be more spiteful than men, when men get off so easy, including the icing on life's cake: Being able to pee in the woods without soaking their socks... So, while I love being a woman, 'Womanhood' would make the Great Gandhi a tad crabby. You still think women are the 'weaker sex'? Yeah right!

Random Jokes A man goes to a job interview and the interviewer begins with the question, “What do you think is your biggest weakness?” The man thinks for a moment, then says, “I think my biggest weakness is my brutal honesty.” The interviewer says, “I don’t think that’s a weakness.” The man then says, “I don’t give a s*** what you think!”
An elephant drinking from a stream spots a tortoise lounging on the shore. He grabs it with his trunk and flings it into the jungle. A passing zebra asks, “Why did you do that?” “Forty years ago that very tortoise nipped my tail just for fun,” the elephant said. “Wow, forty years ago! How did you remember that?” “Well I have turtle recall,” replied the elephant

Linea Directa PROTECT YOUR HOME Finding an emergency plumber to fix a burst pipe in the early hours of the morning can be a stressful experience. Damage can run into the thousands. Most home insurance covers water damage from leaking pipes. But what is covered and what is not, can be confusing. GUARANTEED PROTECTION Home insurance from LĂnea Directa covers your property 100% against any water damage, which means we will guarantee the insured contents for their full base value. Our policy also covers accidents, unforeseen spillage and leaks from neighbouring properties. Our policies also cover flooding, mudslides or an accidental diversion on the ordinary course of water flow in channels, ditches or sewage flows. DISCOVER A LEAK If you discover a leak, turn off the stop valve to stop the flow of water. Then turn off the mains electricity supply. Place a bucket under the leak to catch as much water as possible, while turning on all the taps to reduce the system pressure. Take photographs of any damage and retain any possessions that have been damaged. These may be needed in the event of a claim. If you would like some further advice on this matter, please call our English speaking customer service on 902 325 325.

The Latest Currencies Direct News GBP/EUR tumbles from three-year high Staying up to date with the latest currency news can help you time your transfers effectively, so find out what you should be looking out for over the next couple of weeks… Latest currency news The GBP/EUR exchange rate soared to a three-year high last December as UK PM Boris Johnson secured a comfortable majority in the UK General Election. However, the pound didn’t have a great end to the year, with GBP/EUR hitting lows of €1.14 before stabilising around €1.17. EUR/GBP, meanwhile, fluctuated between €0.84 and €0.87 while GBP/USD drifted to $1.30. What’s been happening? Sterling’s fall from grace came swiftly after the Conservative’s election victory, as Boris Johnson’s amended his EU withdrawal bill to legally block any extension to the Brexit transition period past December 2020. This effectively leaves Johnson with just eleven months in which to negotiate a new trade deal with the EU or leave the UK to face a no-deal Brexit at the end of the year. This sparked significant concern amongst GBP investors who had hoped the passing of Johnson’s withdrawal bill would help to bring more clarity to Brexit. While the spectre of Brexit continues to hang over Sterling, the currency has also been feeling the heat thanks to the rising odds of the BoE cutting interest rates in the near future. Several BoE policymakers have hinted in recent weeks about a possible rate, including Governor Mark Carney who said the bank would respond ‘promptly’ if economic weakness persisted. This speculation has been fuelled by a run of
underwhelming UK data, including a surprise contraction of growth in November and the lowest inflation reading in over three-years. The euro, meanwhile has been fluctuating in response to mixed domestic data, with manufacturing remaining in contraction territory but inflation edging towards the European Central Bank’s (ECB) target. What do you need to look out for? Looking ahead, Brexit developments and Bank of England (BoE) interest rate speculation are likely to remain the main catalysts of movement in the pound over the next four weeks. The UK is all set to leave the EU on 31st January and this will no doubt thrust Brexit back into the spotlight and limit upside in GBP exchange rates. German data will remain one of the biggest causes of euro movement in the weeks ahead. If fears for the country’s growth outlook grow the common currency could be pressured lower. As it stands, the outlook for the GBP/EUR exchange rate is neutral-negative at the start of 2020. At Currencies Direct we’re here to talk currency whenever you need us, so get in touch if you want to know more about the latest news or how it could impact your currency transfers. Since 1996 we’ve helped more than 210,000 customers with their currency transfers, just pop into your local Currencies Direct branch or give us a call to find out more.

Mum Stuff I am sure lots of you mums out there can relate to this. You know you’re a mother when.. You count the sprinkles on each kid’s cupcake to make sure they’re equal. You have time to shave only one leg at a time. You hide in the bathroom to be alone. Your kid throws-up and you catch it.
You stop criticising the way your mother raised you. You use your own saliva to clean your child’s face. You donate to charities in the hope that your child won’t get that disease. You say at least once a day, “I’m not cut out for this job”, but you know you wouldn’t trade it for anything.
Someone else’s kid throws up at a party. You keep eating. You hope Ketchup is a vegetable, since it’s the only one your child eats. You find yourself cutting your husband’s sandwiches into cute shapes. You hear your mother’s voice coming out of your mouth when you say, “NOT in your good clothes!”

De Cotta Law ARRANGEMENTS FOR CHILDREN – CUSTODY, VISITS AND MAINTENANCE We have an international community in many parts of Spain and there is an increasing need to ensure any arrangements made for children benefit the child and are workable. We have seen a number of Convenios – agreements on child matters – that don´t take into account the needs of the children to spend time with each parent or, of the parent’s need to work and in some cases to travel. Sometimes one of the parents has not had good legal advice and has signed a Convenio not appreciating that there are no default or fall-back provisions if a disagreement arises in the future or there is a change in circumstances. To alter arrangements which have been approved by the court there must be a very good reason. The court will want to see how the circumstances have changed; that the change is lasting and permanent; that the changes have not been brought about exclusively by one parent with the aim of seeking modification, and finally that the circumstances were unforeseeable at the time the original agreement was signed. That is why it is very important to get independent legal advice before signing an agreement on child matters. For example, we include a provision that states if either parent wishes to move to another country, whether returning to their original country or moving
abroad for work, the couple agree to modify the arrangement. Many applications to modify orders relate to the payment of maintenance. Each case will be considered on its merits and evidence needs to be shown that employment has been lost or a parent needs to return to their country of origin for financial reasons. Our specialist lawyer Reyes Gómez assisted by Legal Executive Lauren Sykes can respond to all your enquiries about Spanish and English laws and procedures in the Family courts. & t i Fru Facts rry Veg Bilbe The humble bilberry, native to Europe, is yet another of Nature’s gifts which is packed with health benefits and practical uses. Bilberries have allegedly been used for medicinal purposes since the Middle Ages, while their juice was traditionally used to dye linen and paper. Nowadays, they’re linked to various health benefits, from improved vision to lower blood sugar and cholesterol levels, and like most berries, they are a nutrient-rich fruit. Per (148gram) cup, they can be expected to offer around 85 calories, 15 grams of naturally-occurring sugar and 4 grams of fibre. They also contain around 85% water, as well as good amounts of manganese and vitamins C and K. The vitamin C and phenolic acids are an especially good source of anthocyanins — the powerful flavonoid antioxidant that gives red, purple, and blue fruits and vegetables their characteristic colour and is thought to be responsible for most of these berries’ health benefits. In one three-week study, people taking a supplement containing 300 mg of bilberry anthocyanins daily experienced a 38–60% reduction in inflammatory markers, compared with a 4–6% reduction in the placebo group. Bilberries are most popular for their purported ability to improve vision — and particularly night vision. A two-year study in people with glaucoma, a condition that leads to a gradual loss of sight, found that taking 120 mg of bilberry anthocyanins daily improved visual function by around 30%. Other studies suggest that taking 160–480mg of powdered bilberry extract daily may reduce eye dryness and other symptoms of eye fatigue caused by working with video display terminals. Bilberries are a popular herbal remedy used to lower blood sugar levels in people with type 2 diabetes. Experts believe that the
berries prevent the breakdown and absorption of carbs in your gut, in a similar way to some blood-sugar-lowering medications. Animal studies suggest that the anthocyanins in bilberries may also stimulate the secretion of insulin, the hormone needed to help move sugar from your blood into your cells. This helps adults with metabolic syndrome, a cluster of conditions that increases the risk of type 2 diabetes, stroke, and heart disease. Bilberries may benefit the health of your heart too. This may partly be because they’re rich in vitamin K, which helps prevent the formation of blood clots and so reduces your risk of heart attack and stroke. Test-tube research further suggests that the specific mix of anthocyanins in bilberries may help lower blood pressure, improve platelet function, blood pressure, and HDL (good) cholesterol levels — all markers linked to a healthier heart. Powdered bilberry supplements are linked to improved long-term and working memory in older adults too. Fresh and dried bilberries can be eaten on their own or incorporated into a variety of recipes. Bilberries can also be found in powdered and liquid supplements, and are considered safe for most people when consumed in typical amounts.

All By Myself Who needs a partner on Valentine´s Day. Here are some tips for those without!! Pamper yourself Buy yourself cute Valentine's Day gifts, such as flowers, a cute teddy or a dress you have been planning to buy. Indulge in a spa treatment, or a head to toe beauty treatment. Or why not buy books, CDs, and gourmet meals? Freak out with friends Plan a dinner or movie with friends. You may also throw a “singles party” or “Un-Valentine's Day Party” at your home and have a blast. Life is fun in the company of loving friends. Acts of service Singles can spend Valentine's Day in a meaningful way by spending time with the needy and downtrodden. You may visit an orphanage or old age home and spend time with the inmates who are always in need of love and affection. Visiting hospitals and spending time with the sick can also be a touching way of experiencing bliss on
Valentine's Day. Express gratitude for friends and dear ones. Instead of feeling depressed and ashamed for not having a significant other with whom to spend the day, singles can spend Valentine's Day in a constructive manner by expressing love and affection for people around them. Think positive Singles can make the most of Valentine's Day by thinking positive and fighting away Valentine's Day blues. One should not spend the day sulking.

In Victorian times, it was considered bad luck to sign a Valentine’s Day card. About 1 billion Valentine’s Day cards are exchanged each year. This makes it the second largest seasonal card sending time of the year.
189 million stems of roses are sold in the U.S. on Valentine’s Day. Husbands and boyfriends like to give bouquets. Men account for 73 percent of Valentine’s Day flower sales. In 1537, England’s King Henry VII officially declared February 14th the holiday of St. Valentine’s Day. More than 35 million heart-shaped boxes of chocolate will be sold for Valentine’s Day. The official world record for the longest marriage for a living couple belongs to Herbert and Zelmyra Fisher, who were married for a total of 86 years and 290 days, before Mr. Fisher passed away.
If you’re single, don’t despair. You can celebrate Singles Awareness Day (SAD) instead. In the Middle Ages, young men and women drew names from a bowl to see who would be their Valentine. They would wear this name pinned onto their sleeves for one week for everyone to see. This was the origin of the expression "to wear your heart on your sleeve."

s Now b e l Ce en & Lamb Th Larry British actor Larry Lamb has had a varied career in TV, films and in theatre, and remains one of our most popular — and busiest — performers. He was born on October 1, 1947, in Edmonton, London, as Lawrence Douglas Lamb, the eldest of four children. He had a turbulent childhood, being verbally abused by his father and he often had to stop his parents fighting. He attended Edmonton County School and later joined the oil industry, which resulted in his working in Libya and Canada, where he went to university in Antigonish, Nova Scotia. Here, he developed his amateur interest in acting to a professional level, and performed at Canada's Stratford Festival in 1975–1976. After returning to Britain from Canada, Lamb became a regular cast member, along with Kate O'Mara, in the BBC's North Sea ferry-based soap Triangle (1981–83), in which he played Matt Taylor, the ship's Chief Engineer. Other credits include The New Avengers, The Professionals, Fox, Minder, Lovejoy, Get Back, A Touch of Frost, Our Friends in the North, Taggart, Casualty, Kavanagh QC, Spooks, Midsomer Murders and The Bill. His film credits include Buster and Essex Boys. In 1983, he had a small speaking role in Superman III. Between 2007 and 2010, Lamb appeared in TV’s Gavin and Stacey, playing Gavin's father, Michael "Mick" Shipman, and reprised this role over Christmas when the show
returned for a “one-off” episode. Audience reaction was so favourable, a petition has been launched to bring the series back. In 2008, Lamb began playing Archie Mitchell, the father of Ronnie and Roxy Mitchell in EastEnders. He based his portrayal on his own father. He left the show in April 2009, but was killed off in a murder storyline at Christmas that year. He won the award for Best Villain at the 2010 British Soap Awards. Archie Mitchell's wedding to Peggy Mitchell (Barbara Windsor), on 2 April 2009, was ranked #1 in "The 50 Greatest EastEnders Weddings of All Time.” On 19 February 2010, Lamb appeared with his son, George Lamb, in EastEnders Live: The Aftermath, after Stacey Branning was revealed to have been Archie's killer in the 25th-anniversary live episode. He also played Ted Case in the final series of the BBC Crime Drama New Tricks, replacing Dennis Waterman (Gerry Standing). He was married to Anita Wisbey (1968 — 1969) and Linda Martin (1979 — 1996), and has two children from them — one is George Lamb, and his daughter, Vanessa, gave him his first grandchild. He recently split from long-time partner, The Bill actress Clare Burt, with whom he also has two children, and is sponsoring two young Senegalese girls, Fatou and Oumou, through school. He began dating French artist Marie Victorine in 2016, and she was there to greet him as he left the jungle after becoming the 11th EastEnders actor to appear on ITV’s I’m a Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here, where he was the sixth celebrity to be voted off.
To advertise call 664 210 468 or email sales@thesentinella.com Bieber’s battle Singer Justin Bieber has revealed he's been secretly battling Lyme disease. The 25-year-old star has opened up about how the bacterial disease — contracted via an nfected tick bite — took a toll on him for over a year. In a new docu-series — still unreleased — he says that in November last year, doctors finally found the cause of his symptoms, which included rashes, fever, headaches and exhaustion. Apparently, the recent delays in releasing new music were the result of these health concerns. Justin and supermodel Hailey Baldwin married in September 2018 — shortly before his symptoms first appeared — and Hailey's friend, Bella Hadid, along with her mother Yolanda, Shania Twain and Avril Lavigne also suffer from the disease. Try, try and try again… Nicole Scherzinger's new flame is used to a try or two – and it’s really paid off. Ex-rugby ace Thom Evans pursued the Pussycat Doll for more than six years before he finally won her over on last year’s X Factor: Celebrity, when he was competing and she was a judge. He first made a bid for her affections at the 2014 Global Gift Gala fundraiser in London but was rebuffed. Nicole was going through a bad patch with her-then partner Lewis Hamilton, and gave Thom the cold shoulder. Undeterred, he continued lusting over her on social media before finally bagging the girl of his dreams during his X Factor stint with fellow rugby stars Ben Foden and Levi Davis in their band Try Star. A source said: “Thom’s been after Nicole for some time and was confident that spending so much time in her company would give him the opportunity to woo her.” The couple went public at an exclusive Golden Globes after-party in Beverly Hills, posing for snappers on the red carpet.

Biter bit In the TV series Fleabag, Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s character stole her step-mum’s prized gold statuette, but that storyline came back on itself for the actress at the Golden Globes. Phoebe, who won Best Actress in a TV series and Best TV series for Fleabag, was letting people have pictures taken at her table at Amazon’s after-party in Los Angeles when a stranger walked off with one of the awards. A witness explained: “Everyone started looking around for it and it caused a commotion. Eventually it was found on a nearby table.” Too much monkey business Love Island bosses are reportedly worried that aggressive, five-foot baboons will raid the series’ new Cape Town villa after they were spotted near the perimeter. They fear the new cast for the sixth season could be in danger. The monkeys are already known to cause havoc around South Africa as they have previously broken into houses and cars to steal food. Fearing the possible implications, ITV2 bosses have reportedly upped the security to include round-the-clock surveillance teams to drive away the primates from the villa. A source said: "Obviously, the safety of the contestants is a top priority."

With any New Year comes New Year Resolutions and, more often than not, the majority of us vow to do more exercise. Our motivation in January is boundless but by February our resolve can begin to wane, other priorities take preference and exercise becomes less and less important. I am writing this article in an attempt to stoke your exercise fires once more and to give more reasons why you should continue to take regular exercise. So what actually happens to our bodies when we exercise?

Keeping Up Your Resolution (Continued) Soreness only means there are changes occurring in those muscles and typically lasts a couple of days.
When you work out regularly, the brain gets used to this frequent surge of blood and adapts by turning certain genes on or off. Many of these changes boost brain cell function and protect from diseases such as Alzheimer's, Parkinson's or even stroke, and ward off age-related decline. Exercise also triggers a surge of chemical messengers in the brain called neurotransmitters, which include endorphins, often cited as the cause of the mythical "runner's high." You'll also likely feel better thanks to a bump in serotonin, a neurotransmitter well known for its role in mood and depression. Hippocampus This part of the brain is highly involved in learning and memory, and it's one of the only sections of the brain that can make new brain cells. Exercise facilitates this, thanks to the extra oxygen in the brain. There are so many other benefits but I hope these will keep you motivated and moving!!!
Lungs When you exercise you start to breathe faster and heavier, this strengthens and increases your lungs capacity. Heart When you exercise, heart rate increases to circulate more oxygen (via the blood) at a quicker pace. The more you exercise, the more efficient the heart becomes. Exercise also stimulates the growth of new blood vessels, causing blood pressure to decrease in fit people. Brain Increased blood flow also benefits the brain. Immediately, the brain cells will start functioning at a higher level, making you feel more alert and awake during exercise and more focused afterward.

Don’t Overlook Vélez-Málaga The number of times I hear from people who overlook Vélez-Málaga is very sad. People who live in the countryside around Axarquía often say they head straight for Torre del Mar to do their shopping and countless acquaintances have hardly ever set foot in the town. And house hunters often read or hear incorrect things about the town, (unfortunately even estate agents out of this area have been known to put people off out of pure ignorance) such as that it is full of gypsies or that there is nothing to see. I totally contest this! If you don’t know Vélez, do go in. It is steeped in history, with some beautiful monumental buildings, ancient city walls and fascinating churches that were once mosques, and it has a huge variety of wonderful shops offering a much wider variety than the high street shops or the big chain supermarkets, and at great prices too. The seventeenth century Beniel Palace usually has interesting art exhibitions, and the Casa Cervantes is also worth a visit, along with the Carmen Theatre, which has plays,
concerts and dance events all year round. There are some fabulous restaurants to discover, such as El Caserío de las Monjas and El Convento, and many more. Every month there is a historic tour of the city at sunset, and during the tour you are confronted by various historical characters who tell their stories. It is in Spanish and is very entertaining (you get to meet Queen Isabel, La Catótica, and even the ghost of Cervantes!) and great for practicing your Spanish! The town (80,000 people) is a wonderful place to explore on Summer evenings and the recently restored old covered market is a great place for a drink and something to eat, with lots of small speciality kiosks offering different food. I am only allowed to write 300 words and could write 3000 about this lovely town, so do check it out and discover it in 2020! By Toni Waterman, Unspoilt Andalusia (see advertisement below)

Crazy Little Thing Called Love Romantic Axarquía This year, St. Valentine’s Day falls conveniently on a Friday. Plus, this is a leap year when the tradition of men making the initial marriage proposal is cancelled for that one additional day in February and it becomes a free for all. It’s a time when lots of places cash in on our need to show our love. Restaurants invent love based menus with romantic based dishes and cheesecakes made in a heart shape. Chocolate, wine and single red rose sales boom. However, it needn’t be expensive to offer a little romance to your special someone especially as we live in Axarquía with the perfect backdrop for St Valentine’s Day. Here’s a few ideal places to show the love. 1. The Sea of Love The coastline of Axarquía has much to offer the budding romantic. Less crowded than its Western neighbour, you’re more unlikely to have your love ambience invaded by the smell of fish chips and mushy peas, the full English breakfast or a shirtless oversized bloke. From Maro or Algarobbo, the lights of Torrox add the perfect sparkling backdrop. The beaches are almost empty day or night as the locals think we are crazy using them in the cold winter months. Strolling the shoreline as a couple is a beautiful way to celebrate St Valentine’s. 2. Higher and Higher If your love needs some elevation, then the white villages are ideal. Canillas de Acietuno has a marvellous viewpoint (on top of the car park) were you can see North Africa on a clear day. With their winding streets and flower bedecked buildings, the white villages are perfect for getting lost in love. Comares too offers spectacular views after the steep ascent. The road up to here is so scary that you’ll probably have confirmed your love for each other a few times on the way up. If you’re feeling brave, why not wait until
Saturday and book the zipwire and confess your love whilst hurtling 100m above ground? 3. The Power of Love Lake Viñuela and it’s crystal blue waters are just perfect for a romantic February wander and, weather permitting, why not indulge your romantic side with a picnic for two? It’s rare that the water gets busy even in summer but in February you’re almost guaranteed solitude. If you know someone with a kayak, you could even take to the water and work together as a couple to traverse the still, deep lake. 4. Love on a Mountaintop With the National Parks that surround us: Sierras de Tejeda, Almijara and Alhama, there’s so many opportunities to find a quiet beautiful place to share with the love of your life. You don’t need to ascend La Maroma to enjoy the fresh air and find some peace and tranquility. It’s literally on our doorstep. Perhaps use this St Valentine’s Day as the perfect excuse to track down your favourite romantic spot in Axarquía. All you need is… The Spanish have been known to refer to St Valentine’s Day as El Día de El Corte Inglés because of the commercialism and money spent or wasted. So this year, why not change that trend, forgo the chocolates, the overpriced solitary rose and visit one of the many beautiful places Axarquía has to offer and fall back in love with here? Bottega: Prosecco, Spirits And Liqueurs Bottega Poeti Prosecco (DOC) is fresh, fragrant and has a floral bouquet. This wine is a very popular, dry production and favoured by many. Bottega Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore (DOCG) Extra Dry is another poets’ wine which is also very popular. Having a brilliant straw-yellow colour, too, this fresh and fragrant wine graces many dining
obtained from pure grain. This distillate has a prominent character and goes through five distillation phases. Grappa Prosecco Alexander and Grappa Riserva Privata Barricata are two further Bottega productions that are extremely popular. Bottega’s wines and drinks productions, in
occasions, regularly. Bottega Prosecco (DOC) Fundum I found to be a splendid dry production, that has plenty of fruits, to please. The mouthfeel and palate sensation is fresh, with a good finish. Gold Poeti Prosecco (DOC) is a further, very classy production from Bottega. Fresh, aromatic and most impressive, this wine comes in a magnificent gold-coloured bottle. Again, a fruity bouquet prevails, which leads, enticingly, to the superb mouthfeel. The palate is treated to a sensation that is wonderfully pleasant and memorable. The glamour of the bottle presentation adds to the pleasures of this production, which is extremely popular for special occasions and also makes a really splendid gift.
eye-catching, distinguished bottles, continue to please and receive awards. Their liqueurs are excellent in cocktails, too and include Fior di Latte. This chocolate cream liqueur has a good bouquet of white chocolate, plus a soft and velvety mouthfeel. Gianduia Chocolate Cream is a creamy production that has an impressive aroma of Gianduia chocolate, which was created in Piedmont, Italy, during 1806. The bouquet of cocoa and nuts is typical of Gianduia. The sweetness of milk cream makes this a very popular choice, for many.
Bottega Gin “Bacur” is a distilled dry gin, with a unique character. Elegant and with an excellent, balanced taste, this gin has many regular ‘devotees’.
Grappas and liqueurs are perfect for an ‘end of meal experience’, as well as for making very indulgent cocktails and long drinks. For all details and the Bottega full range: www.bottegaspa.com
Bottega Vodka is produced using sugars
Other liqueur productions include Nero, Pistacchio Cream, Ginger, Pomegranate and more.

Dear Walter Why there aren’t many male Agony Aunts... Dear Walter: I hope you can help me here. The other day I set off for work leaving my husband in the house watching the TV as usual. Hadn’t gone more than a mile down the road when my engine conked out and the car shuddered to a halt. I walked back home to get my husband’s help. When I got home I couldn’t believe my eyes. He was in the bedroom with a lady neighbour making mad passionate love to her. I am 32, my husband is 34 and we have been married for twelve years. When I confronted him, he broke down and admitted that he’d been having an affair for the past six months. I told him to stop or I would leave him. He was let go from his job six months ago and he says he has been feeling depressed and worthless. I love him very much, but ever since I gave him the ultimatum he has become increasingly distant. I don’t feel I can get through to him anymore. Can you please help? Sincerely, Sheila Dear Sheila: A car stalling after being driven a short distance can be caused by a variety of faults with the engine. Start by checking that there is no debris in the fuel line. If it is clear, check the jubilee clips holding the vacuum pipes onto the inlet manifold. If none of these approaches solves the problem, it could be that the fuel pump itself is faulty, causing low delivery pressure to the carburetor float chamber. I hope this helps. Walter
Still a tad early for talk of Spring but February is most definitely the month for almond blossom appreciation! The perfect time to get out and view the hillsides. A lovely route is to turn into the valley at Trapiche and enjoy the scenery as the road follows the river along to Benamargosa. A pit stop at La vaqueria for coffee and cake, lunch, snacks or all day breakfasts (traditional English or Moroccan) where we can explain the different routes to either Cutar, Rio Gordo or Comares... all stunning and very photogenic. This month we are celebrating “San valentin" with a special themed brunch buffet. Serve yourself and your partner to as much as you like for just 21€ per couple with a complimentary glass of fizz included. Indulge in oregasmic cheesecake, red velvet chocolate muffins, hearty breakfast bakes and much, much more. Reservations please if you can! Perhaps a treatment in our therapy room would make a great gift, or browse in our quirky crafty shop... whatever it is you decide to do, we hope you have a wonderful day. See you soon, La vaqueria Team xxx

When it went off, I shut off my alarm, gave the wife a nudge and said, "Fishing or Sex"... and she said, "Wear sun-block. ------------------------------------------------------"I usually meet my girlfriend at 12:59 because I like that one-to-one time."

Jokes h a ha :) The angry wife met her husband at the door. There was alcohol on his breath and lipstick on his collar. "I assume," she snarled, "that there is a very good reason for you to come waltzing in here at six o'clock in the morning?" "There is," he replied. "Breakfast." ------------------------------------------------------Washington (Reuters) - A tragic fire on Monday destroyed the personal library of President Donald Trump. Both of his books have been lost. A presidential spokesman said the president was devastated, as he had not finished colouring the second one. ------------------------------------------------------In the hospital the relatives gathered in the waiting room, where their family member lay gravely ill. Finally, the doctor came in looking tired and sombre. "I'm afraid I'm the bearer of bad news," he said as he surveyed the worried faces. "The only hope left for your loved one at this time is a brain transplant. It's an experimental procedure, very risky but it is the only hope. Insurance will cover the procedure, but you will have to pay for the brain yourselves." The family members sat silent as they absorbed the news. After a great length of time, someone asked, "Well, how much does a brain cost?" The doctor quickly responded, "£5,000 for a male brain, and £200 for a female brain." The moment turned awkward. Men in the room tried not to smile, avoiding eye contact with the women, but some actually smirked. A man unable to control his curiosity, blurted out the question everyone wanted to ask, "Why is the male brain so much more?"
The doctor smiled at the childish innocence and explained to the entire group, "It's just standard pricing procedure. We have to mark down the price of the female brains, because they've actually been used." ------------------------------------------------------Emma decides one day that she is sick and tired of all these blonde jokes and how all blondes are perceived as stupid. So, she decides to show her husband Richard that blondes really are smart. While her Richard is off at work, she decides that she is going to paint a couple of rooms in the house. The next day, right after Richard leaves for work, she gets down to the task at hand. Richard arrives home at 5:30 and smells the distinctive smell of paint. He walks into the living room and finds his Emma lying on the floor in a pool of sweat. He notices that she is wearing a heavy parka and a leather jacket at the same time. He goes over and asks her if she is OK. She replies yes. He asks what she is doing and she replies that she wanted to prove to him that not all blonde women are dumb, and she wanted to do it by painting the house. He then asks her why she has a parka over her leather jacket. She replied that she was reading the directions on the paint can and it said, "For best results, put on two coats”! ------------------------------------------------------Apparently smoking cannabis can affect your short term memory. Well if that’s true, what do you think smoking cannabis does?

s e p o c s o Hor by Juanita Banana of www.AbsoluteAxarquia.com ARIES: March 21-April 20 Ignore the bling and instead search inside for your deepest wishes, no matter how exotic they may appear to others. Maybe you recognise desires you had forgotten were buried within. Whether it’s travel, accomplishment(s) or relationships, pay close attention to your heart’s truest yearnings. TAURUS: April 21-May 21 Generally level-headed and sure-footed, you should however challenge your usual limits during February – do something unexpected and daring, even if you feel a little unsure. Go with whatever feelings, doubts or discomforts arise as a result and experience a series of daily adventures! GEMINI: May 22-June 21 Time to make peace with yourself about any less-than-perfect past events and actions, or anything left undone. Leave them in the past where they belong. As you start to think forward, by the second week of February you’ll feel great and able to organise events ahead. CANCER: June 22-July 22 If you’ve been simply going with the flow recently, wondering what it’s all about and where to put your energies, everything is about to become very clear. You’ll realise where you want to be and how you’re going to get there. You’ll understand who you want to be with and be able to convince them it’s what they want too. Enjoy this wonderful time! LEO: July 23-August 23 If you’re tired, cranky or inexplicably less than one hundred percent at the beginning of February, don’t let it get you down. Instead, take it as a prescription to rest and relax, slow down and do something beneficial for yourself. Take time for timeout! VIRGO: August 24-September 22 You may be dealing with craziness at work or complicated logistical issues at home but you need to stay flexible and fluid, no matter how busy you are. Take time to stretch, to breathe slowly, to meditate in silence or relax with some restorative yoga – it will make all the difference and feel wonderful.
LIBRA: September 23 - October 22 Your plans at the beginning of the month are likely to be pushed aside by unforseeable events - nothing serious or long-term life disrupting. The excitement and exhilaration of the first week will make you welcome comparitive boredom by the second week. Rest up and re-energise at this time to prepare for the remainder of the month. SCORPIO: October 23 - November 21 The first week of February is an emotional time for Scorpio this year. This is likely to distract you from work, and getting on with life in general, so think about what’s important and prioritise. The second week brings excitement which again will make concentration on everyday tasks distinctly challenging. In both circumstances, listen to your head and your heart. SAGITTARIUS: November 22 December 21 You’re a natural explorer and, during February, in a space where you want to expand your horizons, broaden your field of knowledge, your range of experiences and your palate. Learn a new language, take a trip near or far – the world is full of possibilities! CAPRICORN: December 22 - January 20 Time to find a new perspective, to take a different view on the world and gain new insights into your life – insights which will occur when you least expect them. Later in the month your creativeness comes to the fore. Be sure to remain in the present, in the now. AQUARIUS: January 21 - February 19 For Aquarians, it’s a phase more appropriate for less philosophy and more getting on and doing. Your love life is fabulous, your work life is great, and it looks like you might have just won some kind of prize. Celebrate but don’t neglect a fitness routine! PISCES: February 20 - March 20 Enjoy a time of magical moments, of the ephemeral, and much love energy buzzing around your vicinity - give yourself plenty of time and space to explore it all. When bright ideas come into your mind, write them down, don’t lose them. Try to be nice, even to people who annoy you!
