m Fro Ed... the My husband and I have now been here in Spain for about two months. When we first arrived, we spent several days getting reacquainted with the area, and trying to find the places that sold healthy, organic produce. It took some time to find the perfect venues, but I’m going to share some of them with you in this editorial. The first little gem we found was an organic Maharishi-owned farm on the outskirts of Nerja, which delivers door to door anywhere within 30km of Nerja. This is our favourite place by far as it means we can simply place an order by email, and often it arrives either later that day, or the very next day. The fruit and vegetables come in either a large cardboard or wooden box, cleaned up, and well presented. They sell all kinds of fruit and vegetables, including kale, celery, avocadoes, collard greens, cucumbers, strawberries, bananas, grapefruits, and lots more. Check them out on their website: www.agriculturavedicamaharishi.org We also discovered the health food shop Rincon de Natural, in Nerja, which although I had visited once before, I’d never truly appreciated the range of organic food they offer. Now I’m a regular, and we buy lots of organic teas, rice, health bars, organic cleaning products, and vitamin supplements from there. The lady who works there is very lovely and told us about a number of other places that sell organic produce, including a stall at the Tuesday market in Trapiche, and a little old lady that sells from the doorstep of a house in Nerja. We’re so happy with the service of the organic farm that we haven’t yet checked out these other two. See Rincon Natural’s main advert on page 51.

Strange News It’s now the beginning of the summer and the weather will really start to juicy up, which is good news as I don’t know about you, but I’m in need of a suntan! I spent a few too many weeks in the icy cold of Montana, but I’m happy to report that we’re moving to hot and sunny California within the next one to two months. Yippee! Any budding tennis players reading this, who would like to join a weekly club and meet fellow tennis players, El Capitan, in Torre del Mar, seeks new members. Pulling Teeth A Florida father's video of him pulling his son's tooth out by tying the boy to the back of his muscle car and driving off has gone viral. Professional wrestler Robert Abercrombie is shown revving up the Chevrolet Camaro before hitting the accelerator as the string dangles from his eight-year-old's mouth. Thankfully, the amateur dentistry did not end with the youngster being dragged along the pavement - his head barely jerks as the tooth is whisked away. "It came out!" the boy says, with a newly gaptoothed grin.

hungry Ants Urban ants in New York have apparently developed some of the same eating habits of their human counterparts: their diet is rich in junk food. Tests on insects collected from pavements and traffic islands in Manhattan show that their bodies contain the molecular fingerprint of junk food, according to research conducted in North Carolina State University. The same was not true of more genteel ants that frequent leafy park areas. "Human foods clearly make up a significant portion of the diet in urban species," said lead researcher Dr Clint Penick. The scientists tested more than 100 ants representing 21 species from dozens of sites in New York’s sidewalks, streets and parks. All animals, including humans, take in carbon from food, but the particular strain found the pavement ants was specifically associated with corn and sugar cane - which are abundant in human processed foods where they are used as sweeteners or to enhance flavour.

De Cotta Law Court claims or negotiated settlements? Many people think that litigation, going to court, is the only way to settle a claim. In Spain at the moment many Courts are not able to deal with claims within a year or even 2 – 3 years because of the pressure on the system. This is mainly as a result of the increase in litigation during the economic crisis and everyone hopes that the situation will improve in the coming years. Equally it is often thought that lawyers, abogados, can only assist with a claim by going to court. However the priority for most lawyers is to find a way to settle outside of court by negotiating with the other party and, or, with their lawyer. This applies to all areas of law from major contractual disputes between companies to family matters and divorces. In commercial or business disputes it is becoming increasingly common to submit to an arbitration procedure. In certain specific cases the Junta de Andalucía can appoint an arbitrator who can hear a claim with both parties presenting their case and a decision is reached within weeks rather than years. In debt matters it is often far better to appoint a lawyer to seek an agreement with creditors than to leave the situation until a court case commences with the increased costs and uncertainty. While not all debt problems can be solved this way it is better to have someone who can review the situation and give advice on the consequences of non-payment of banks and creditors. A financial claim in court on divorce can be detrimental to both parties as the costs increase and there is a major difficulty with transfers of matrimonial property. Divorce Orders to transfer property or sell at market rates are quite common in the UK. However in Spain the Judge can only order a sale by court controlled auction and this can take a number of years and diminish the value of the property. Your lawyer can try to negotiate a settlement for a mutually agreed divorce. This can save costs

and equally importantly you can avoid the stress of long running litigation. There will always be some situations where you will need an experienced litigator. For example preventing a neighbour from unlicensed or illegal building. It is only a Judge who can issue an injunction – interdicto – to stop the work. Also if someone owes you money and you know they are trying to sell their property to avoid the debt you would need to go to court to ask for an embargo or freezing order against the property. As with so many legal issues prevention is better than cure so seek advice when the problem arises rather than waiting until you have no choice or a legal action is started. info@decottalaw.net or call 952 931781 or 952 527014 See main advert below

Find Out What School Grade You Are! What Starts with F and ends with K A first-grade teacher, Ms. Brooks, was having trouble with one of her students. The teacher asked, "Harry, what's your problem?" Harry answered, "I'm too smart for the 1st grade. My sister is in the 3rd grade and I'm smarter than she is! I think I should be in the 3rd grade too!" Ms. Brooks had had enough. She took Harry to the principal's office. While Harry waited in the outer office, the teacher explained to the principal what the situation was. The principal told Ms. Brooks he would give the boy a test. If he failed to answer any of his questions he was to go back to the 1st grade and behave. She agreed. Harry was brought in and the conditions were explained to him and he agreed to take the test. Principal: "What is 3 x 3?" Harry: "9." Principal: "What is 6 x 6?" Harry: "36." And so it went with every question the principal thought a 3rd grader should know. The principal looks at Ms. Brooks and tells her, "I think Harry can go to the 3rd grade." Ms. Brooks says to the principal, "Let me ask him some questions." The principal and Harry both agreed. Ms. Brooks asks, "What does a cow have four of that I have only two of?" Harry, after a moment: "Legs." Ms. Brooks: "What is in your pants that you have but I do not have?" The principal wondered why would she ask such a question! Harry replied: "Pockets." Ms. Brooks: "What does a dog do that a man steps in to?" Harry: "Pants." Ms. Brooks: What starts with a C, ends with a

T, is hairy, oval, delicious and contains thin, whitish liquid?" Harry: "Coconut." The principal sat forward with his mouth hanging open. Ms. Brooks: "What goes in hard and pink then comes out soft and sticky?" The principal's eyes opened really wide and before he could stop the answer, Harry replied, "Bubble gum." Ms. Brooks: "What does a man do standing up, a woman does sitting down and a dog does on three legs?" Harry: "Shake hands." The principal was trembling. Ms. Brooks: "What word starts with an 'F' and ends in 'K' that means a lot of heat and excitement?" Harry: "Firetruck." The principal breathed a sigh of relief and told the teacher, "Put Harry in the fifth-grade, I got the last seven questions wrong...... OK! What grade are you??

Bitten Off More Than You Can Chew Huge python DIES after trying to swallow pet cat whole. Beloved moggy Tiger was found inside the stomach of a dead snake. Much-loved family pet Tiger died when the scrub python tried to eat it, but the feline's own-

ers only found out when it saw the dead cat peeping out of the snake's decomposing body. Francis Bakvis was horrified when he came face to face with his sixteen year old cat inside the stomach of the dead snake. Mr Bakvis discovered the bloated python in his

garden after noticing a foul smell coming from the yard. It wasn't until he tried to move the snake that he realised where his beloved moggy, who had been missing for three days, had gone. Mr Bakvis said he thinks the scrub python, which can grow to be up to eight metres long, struggled to eat Tiger and died as a result. "I pulled the dead snake on to the lawn, and a bit of its skin was already decomposing. I could see, there was my cat," Mr Bakvis told Australian news website the Cairns Post. "It was pretty miserable to see him go that way. He was getting old and not 100 per cent clear in his little brain sometimes. "He'd never been sick or anything, and all of a sudden he's no longer there. To find him in the stomach of a snake is not pretty." The black and white cat had reportedly slept on the family veranda and Mr Bakvis said he had never seen any pythons on his property, in Clifton Beach, northern Queensland, Australia, in 15 years of living there.

History Of Colonic Irrigation Enema treatments of the colon have been practised for hundreds of years... even the ancient Egyptians did it. Colon cleansing has the advantage of being easy and effective to do. Necessity and indications Today, there are few people with an ideal bowel function. The majority suffer from a disturbed symbiosis called dysbiosis – in other words a disturbance of the natural community of intestinal bacteria. This is caused by such things as sterilised and pasteurised food, improper diet or lifestyle, environmental pollution, toxins and abuse of drugs, alcohol and nicotine. Many people have a large number of adverse intestinal bacteria. Toxins and waste products are not broken down and excreted fast enough, leading to selfpoisoning of the body. Results include loss of vitality, fatigue, depression, lack of concentration, aggression and anxiety. Infections, inflammations, rheumatism, arthritis, acne, psoriasis, various skin diseases, hypertension, migraine, allergies and many other ailments are also associated with a poorly functioning bowel and can be aided by colonic irrigation. There is a very close link between metabolic processes and the immune system, 70 per cent of which is located in the wall of the small intestine and colon.

Implementation and impact During colon therapy, the patient lies on their side on a treatment couch. A plastic tube is introduced and water at differing temperatures flows through it into the intestine. The water and dissolved intestinal contents are then drained. With a gentle stomach massage, problem areas can be detected. It is important that the therapist is constantly present. The water temperature is initially at about 38 degrees, and then between 38-20 degrees. Cold water stimulates lazy areas of the colon, while hot water eases spasms. The regime also reduces swelling in the mucosa, which can trigger heart palpitations, tachycardia and hypertension. The dissolving action and temperature of the water makes the gut start working again, expelling accumulated and stagnated intestinal contents. In the last third of the treatment, the temperature hovers around 40 degrees, which is very beneficial for the liver. The treatment can last up to 60 minutes. Most patients find the treatment comfortable, relaxing and soothing. The abdominal massage is a pleasant way to get the intestinal walls moving. Price per treatment: â‚Ź65 See main advert below

Linea Directa REGISTERING YOUR VEHICLE IN SPAIN. SPANISH LICENSE PLATES AND REGISTRATION DOCUMENT Registering a non-Spanish vehicle in Spain is a complex and potentially costly procedure. However, you may be exempt from Spanish registration tax by getting Spanish number plates within one month of entering the country. But to do this, you need to become a resident. Linea Directa has been insuring expat drivers in Spain for over a decade and understands all the steps involved. Below we outline this process. STEP 1: OBTAININg A CERTIFICATE OF CONFORMITY This is a statement by the car’s manufacturer that it conforms to EU regulations. You will need the car’s chassis number to complete this straightforward process online at www.eurococ.eu/en/certificate_of_conformity. The charges for this service will vary according to type of vehicle, make and country of 1st registration. STEP 2: CURRENT LOg BOOk The vehicle’s original log book showing your name as the owner, the vehicles age and a valid UK address. You will also need the bill of sale for the car. STEP 3: RESIDENCY IN SPAIN The Spanish residency certificate (Certificado de Empadronamiento) is your official proof of residency in Spain. Your local town hall can provide you with this document. You will need to take your passport and proof of Spanish address (rental contract, contract to purchase or property deeds). STEP 4: OBTAININg A SPANISh MOT CERTIFICATE

All vehicles over 4 years old must be roadworthy and clearly display a valid ITV sticker. The ITV (Vehicle Technical Inspection) must be tested at an authorised centre, just as for an MOT test. You can find out the location of your nearest ITV centre on DGT website (equivalent to the DVLA). You can also call your local centre to make a booking. If the centre is busy, especially pre-summer, this can save a lot of time. The cost can vary but generally is around 40€ for petrol-engine cars and 56€ for diesel-engine cars. STEP 5: OBTAININg A SPANISh EQUIVALENT OF A TAX DISC The Spanish Tax Agency can provide your vehicle with a valid “tax disc” for Spain, which must be carried in the car when in use. You will need to complete the relevant form online and pay the amount according to your car’s tax band. You can carry out all these procedures yourself or you can seek the assistance of an accountant to do this for you. we hope the information provided in this article is of interest. What Is Reflexology? Reflexology is a complementary therapy that involves the application of light pressure to specific points – known as reflexes – on the feet and hands to encourage the body to heal from within. The therapy is based on the principle that the feet and hands mirror the body. All organs, systems and glands on the body can be mapped onto areas on the feet, called reflex points. A reflexologist knows how to stimulate the reflex points in order to bring about a response in the corresponding part of the body. Reflexology is a therapy which can be received by anyone at any age – from newborn babies to the elderly. The therapy works along holistic principles, aiming to treat your mind, body and spirit. It is a gentle therapy in which the therapist uses their fingers and thumbs. The idea of reflex use for health improvement was carried on sporadically and brought to America in 1909 by Dr William Fitzgerald. Whilst the art of reflexology dates back to ancient China, India and Egypt, this therapy was not introduced to the west until Dr Fitzgerald developed “zone therapy”. The benefits of Reflexology Reflexology helps to restore and maintain the

body´s natural equilibrium and encourages the body to work naturally to heal itself. The therapy can bring relief from a wide range of acute and chronic conditions and has been shown to be effective. Examples include: Pain relief in back and joints Arthritis - Migraine and headaches Depression - Stress and anxiety Sports injuries - Breathing disorders Digestive problems - Hormonal imbalances: menopause and premenstrual syndrome Sleep disorders and disorders in pregnancy Restless legs syndrome - Relax muscles Aid circulation and improve blood flow Calm over-activity in any part of the body and stimulate underactivity It may improve co-operation and co-ordination between the bodily systems It may help relieve congestion Aids post-operative recovery Complements cancer care: Pain, nausea, vomiting, and/or anxiety eased for chemotherapy Stress and stress-related conditions See main advert below

Benamargosa is located in the river valley of the same name some 15 kilometres inland from Velez-Málaga on the costa del Sol and about a half an hour´s drive by motorway from Málaga. The valley is practically evergreen and almost like an oasis in summertime, due to the plantations of avocado and citrus fruits lining the river. The village centre is 90 metres above sea level and the hills rising up along the side of the river reach 550 metres. Thanks to the warm climate of the area, it is possible to achieve more than one harvest. Traditional vineyards are to be found in the hills surrounding the village, growing the famous Málaga grapes used to make the well known sweet wines of the region. The traditional cultivation of olives, almonds and carob is gradually being replaced by the mango.

Argentinian Meats Cooked To Perfection Torre del Mar is fast becoming an up-andcoming place for fine dining, with many types of food on offer such as Chinese, Indian, Japanese, American, Spanish, English and Argentinian to name but a few. This month I decided to dine at “Fogon del Pibe”, a lovely Argentinian grill restaurant in Tore Tore On entering the restaurant we were greeted by a very polite waiter who spoke English too... This always helps!! There is a choice of seating – either inside the nicely-decorated restaurant or on the large, enclosed, heated outside terrace where, hopefully, the heating will not be needed in a few weeks! We chose a nice table inside. There is an extensive menu offering soups, salads and the restaurant’s speciality – all types of excellent Argentinian meats. Chicken, goat, lamb, pork and beef

are all cooked to perfection by Matias, the owner and an Argentinian chef. I chose a lovely salad to start. This was a bit different to a normal typical Spanish mixed salad, which was quite refreshing. It was filled with lettuce, egg, chicken, tomato, orange, and apple. For main, I chose ribs cooked in honey – sticky and extremely tasty – served with the best pobre potatoes I have had in a long while, together with a little salad to dress my plate. We washed this down with a very nice bottle of vino. Our party consisted of four adults and three children. With salad starter, wine, water, beers, soft drinks and main courses all round it was a bargain at just 20 euros per head per adult. Fogon del Pibe also offers a lunchtime menu for just 7.90€. They also cater for large bookings if you have an event/function or party to celebrate. Call: 952 54 51 59 / 667 339 412 See main advert below

Please mention The Sentinella when responding to adverts Chilches

Chilches is a small village situated between Benajarafe and Rincon de la Victoria about 12 kilometres from Malaga. There is a beach area but the village itself is inland just over the autovia and up in the hills. Its name comes from the Roman Cicer, because of the chickpea plantations in the area but later, through a Muslim invasion the name was changed to Chilches. Chilches used to have two Towers but around 1492 after the conquest of Granada they were divided between noblemen who fought in the battle, amongst them the Marquis Garci Fernández Manrique and the Count Manrique de Lara. During one of the battles in the area the inland tower was destoyed leaving just the coastal one which we can see today. During the 19th century the Phylloxera Plague wiped out the vineyards in the area. Up until then Chilches had been a fishing village but after the devastation of the grapes the economy was ruined and Chilches had to depend on the larger village of Macharaviaya to support it.

AS2393

Between 1821 and 1868 Chilches had its own town hall and the last Mayor or Alcalde was Gabriel Galvez Bustamante, but on August 31st of 1868 the government was taken over by Vélez-Málaga and still is to this day, along with Almayate, Benajarafe, Caleta de Vélez, Lagos, Mezquitilla, Torre del Mar, Valle-Niza, Cajiz, Trapiche and Triana. The church of Immaculate Conception, built in the 17th century, sits proudly in the Plaza de Constitution, next to the Deputy Mayor´s Office, La Tenecia de Alcadia and is worth a visit. However, it is difficult to park by the Square and the streets around it are quite narrow, so probably best to park further away and take a stroll up through the village. Chilches Playa is a long stretch of beach, of some 2,500 metres, with very little on it except a small lawned area with palm trees and a life guard’s look out tower. There are a couple of good sea food restaurants and a kiosko for icecream and drinks. Most days during summer the beach is filled with Spaniards vacationing and sitting in the shade under their gazebo tents or multi coloured sun parasols. It is a lively scene and the smell of fresh fish cooking lures you in from the road. For the energetic this stretch of beach is excellent for running on the sand or just taking a stroll with the sea lapping at your ankles!

People Who Come And Go People who Come and Go – Tony and Christine Tony and Christine moved to a country house on the edge of Alcaucin at the end of last year, after many years of holidaying in the area. “Whilst we already knew the area of Axarquia quite well, the first few weeks here felt as though we were on an extended holiday, except accompanied by our 6 dogs and the cat!” They are still discovering new things to do and places to eat and so far, have felt welcome and made plenty of friends. Venta La Parra restaurant is just and stroll from their new home and is run by Antonio and his family – “it’s a great social meeting place too,” says Tony. “And visits to nearby Bar Ortega and frequent Saturday lunchtimes in El Camarote in Caleta with its live music are a pure joy.” Recently, Tony and Christine stumbled across Andalucia Day in Alcaucin with its Celebration of the Horse and other events including a Giant Paella (for free!!) and the Semana Santa processions in Velez Malaga. “Now, we are looking forward to the summer Fiesta season!”

For Tony and Christine the downside to moving to Spain has been the endless and somewhat daunting bureaucracy. “But one gets through it, and the reward of frequent quality time visits from family puts it all into perspective.” With all the talk of the ‘Brits packing up and leaving’, it is great to see daily evidence of a whole new generation of British people choosing Spain as their retirement destination, and we will continue to welcome them! Welcome, Tony and Christine, from all of us! See contact details in ad below

Pies And Bienestar A common expression. Where does it come from? It asks if we are sufficiently prepared to view or handle something. It relates to that which we can put into the stomach without getting ill. Edible food, 15 glasses of vodka or something we really should not attempt to digest. We feed our stomachs with things that the body handles well, bad or not at all and often we don’t even notice the result. As we are all different we cannot be sure that we tolerate eating the same things as other people. Some are completely intolerant to gluten, the protein in bread. They get sick and may even die if they eat it. More than 60% of all people suffer from varying degrees of intolernace to gluten. There are many things we regard as food, that in reality cause damage to our bodies. The bad effects are not noticed immediately but occur over time as we overload our intestines, liver, kidneys and other organs. In the end obesity becomes more common, and we attribute that to eating too much or not going sufficiently often to the gym. A lot of people do not loose weight at all from starvation and frantic exercise.

Weight loss due to loss of muscle mass is an unhealthy weight loss. The body reacts with cravings that soon recover the kilos lost. Body fat does not weigh much compared to bones and muscles. Body fat is nothing more than an accumulation of energy that is not being used. What should one eat then, to stay healthy? To drink enough water is always good advice. Our bodies consist of 60-70% water. It is up to us to find out what is good for us. A lot of the food from the supermarket is genetically modified, have added sugar, preservatives and food colouring. Is your stomach up to it? Item by item, you need to listen to your body and find out. Additionally there are toxins, perhaps considered harmless to most people. Are they harmless to you? Pharmaceutical products are generally

toxic to some degree. A more healthy lifestyle may lessen your need for medication. Why not surprise your doctor? Having the metabolism working optimally, is crucial and means eating a balanced diet to feel stronger and more alive day by day, without extra kilos preparing for future illnesses. See us at Pies y Bienestar, Calle Pintada 73, for a free foot analysis and metabolism test and why not eat the healthy lunch of the week at Los Pingos across the street at the same time.

All Change At La Tasca The youngest wanted egg & chips, which wasn’t on the menu, but Bev said if it’s in the kitchen we can cook it!

Don’t worry folks, it’s just a makeover!!! Popped down to La Tasca last month for a spot of lunch - “So what”! you might be saying. Well I’ll tell you! La Tasca has gone and had a little makeover. Bright yellow and grey walls, new sign and new cushions gives it a much more Mediterranean feel. Obviously coupled with that, the bright and cheerful staff, Bev, Courtney and Josh the chef. But has the food had a makeover? I can catagorically say no! Thank goodness! There has been no change in the great quality of breakfasts, lunches, snacks and desserts.

The missus ordered a Tuna Supreme Baguette with tuna, onion, iceberg lettuce, peppers, tomato and mayo. It was rammed with these fresh, juicy ingredients!

On the day I visited, I was with my wife and two children and I know the kids always enjoy coming here, as there is an abundant of offerings for them.

Myself, I plumped for the Burger of all Burgers, The Flamed Grilled Double Steakburger “La Torre Grande” - with cheese, bacon, onion, lettuce and tomato - a truely beast of a burger! After this mouthwatering luncheon, a selection of homemade desserts were available and along with the superb Breakfasts that Josh knocks out, La Tasca is the true venue for your morning, lunch and afternoon munch!!

After drinks all round, my eldest ordered one of her favourites, the BBQ chicken and Chirizo Skewer with Garlic Bread and salad, mighty chunks of chicken, chirizo and peppers. I asked her what she thought of it and she replied “Lipsmackingly gorgeous!!”

Fashion In Two Parts Part one I was sitting having a cup of coffee the other day, when I happened to notice a good looking girl in her early twenties walking past me. As she got closer, I saw what appeared to me to be a physical deformity to her face, but then as she walked past. I saw what can only be described as a metal bolt through her nose. Here's the bit I don't understand! In what part of her brain, did she think that this enhanced her beauty? I suppose that if I asked her she would have said. “This is to assert my femininity and enhance my self esteem as a citizen of this planet.” There again after meeting a number of modern teenagers. She probably would have looked at me and went “Duh!!!!!!!” This got me thinking about fashion and just what a con it is! How many times has your wife, been to a party or function and thought to her self. “God, that dress looks a mess, why on earth is she wearing it. Did her husband not tell her.” Look, lets get one thing straight before we start. Husbands are the last people they should ever ask. Do you honestly believe that there is a man on this planet that is brave enough to say. “Darling, your dress looks like a regurgitated dogs dinner.” But the best part about this is. The other women may be looking at you and thinking the same thing about your dress.Just

what part of our brain tells us we look good in what we choose to wear? What ever part it is, they should start looking for a cure. Here's another example. Women have been painting the toe and finger nails since before Cleopatra was born, but which idiot came to the conclusion that black finger and toe nails were a thing of beauty? Did some famous diva, vaguely remember in the past, that she once saw her mothers hand after she had trapped it in a car door and thought. “I will try that colour at my next premier.” Then because she did it, the rest of women hood fell into line. Is some women sitting there getting dressed and thinking, the rest of her clothes may be from the nineteen nineties, but because her toe and finger nails are black, that she is the height of fashion.. “This will show Doris that I am with it.” Tattoos, that's another thing I do not understand. Do women not realise that that picture of a small butterfly on her left breast, will turn into a vulture attacking her left knee cap by the time she is over sixty? My dad had tattoos, he was a miner. When he was over sixty and his skin had gone a bit slack. That picture of a mermaid, now looks like a dead haddock. Written by a Grumpy Old Geordie Part 2 next month

The Hilarious Drunk :) I was shopping at the local supermarket where I selected: A half-gallon of milk - A carton of eggs A carton of orange juice - A head of lettuce A jar of coffee - A 1 lb. packet of bacon As I was unloading my items on the conveyor belt to check out, a drunk standing behind me watched as I placed the items in front of the cashier. While the cashier was ringing up the pur-

chases, the drunk calmly stated, 'You must be single.' I was a bit startled by this proclamation, but I was intrigued by the derelict's intuition, since I indeed had never found Mr. Right. I looked at the six items on the belt and saw nothing particularly unusual about my selections that could have tipped off the drunk to my marital status.. Curiosity getting the better of me, I said , 'Yes you are correct. But how on earth did you know that?' The drunk replied, 'Cause you're ugly.

The Heart Attack A blonde gets home from work early & hears strange noises coming from the bedroom. She rushes upstairs only to find her husband naked lying on the bed, sweating and panting. 'What's up?' she asks. 'I think I'm having a heart attack,' - cries the husband.. The blonde rushes downstairs to grab the phone, but just as she's dialling, her four-yearold son comes up And says, "Mummy, Mummy, Aunty Shirley is hiding in the wardrobe, and she has no clothes on" The blonde slams the phone down and storms back upstairs into the bedroom right past her husband.. Rips open the wardrobe door and sure enough, there is her sister, totally naked and cowering on the floor. 'You rotten Bitch', she screams. 'My husband's having a heart attack, and you're running around naked, playing hide and seek with the *******’ kids!!' :) :) :)  :) :) :)  :)

Recipe Of The Month Chicken Liver Pate with Red Onion Marmalade This makes an elegant and easy starter, or serve as a buffet dish with toast or crusty bread. 450g/1lb chicken livers 175g/6oz unsalted butter diced 1 small onion, finely chopped 1 garlic clove, finely chopped good pinch dried thyme 2-tbsp brandy 1 tbsp double cream optional seasoning to taste Salad leaves to garnish For the red onion marmalade 25g/1oz butter 450g/1lb red onions 1 garlic clove, finely chopped good pinch dried thyme 2-3 tbsp red wine vinegar 1-2 tbsp clear honey 25g/1oz sultanas Method: 1. Trim the chicken livers. In a large frying pan melt 25g/1oz butter add the onion and cook for 5 minutes until soft. Add the garlic and cook for a further minute. 2. Add the chicken livers along with the thyme and seasoning, cook for 3-5 minutes until the livers are coloured. Ideally they should still be pink in the inside but not raw. Add the brandy, and cream if using. Cook for another minute. 3. Transfer the mixture to a food processor and whiz until smooth. Gently melt the remaining butter and while the machine is running, pour into the processor. 4. Line a 450g/1lb loaf tin with clear film, smoothing out as many wrinkles as possible. Transfer the mixture to the tin, cool, cover and chill until firm. If you haven't got a loaf tin, transfer the mixture to a small serving dish. 5. Meanwhile make the onion marmalade: Put the butter in a pan, add the onions and cook for about 20 minutes until softened. Add the chopped garlic, thyme, vinegar, honey and sultanas. Cook until a jam-like consistency. Spoon into a serving dish, cool ready to serve with the pate. If using the loaf tin, dip the base in hot water for 5 seconds. Place on a serving plate, remove the film, smooth with a knife, cut into wedges to serve garnished with salad leaves.

Fifty Shades Of Grey... ... By Pam Ayres The missus bought a Paperback, down Shepton Mallet way, I had a look inside her bag;... T'was "Fifty Shades of Grey". Well I just left her to it, And at ten I went to bed. An hour later she appeared; The sight filled me with dread. In her left hand she held a rope; And in her right a whip! She threw them down upon the floor, And then began to strip. Well fifty years or so ago; I might have had a peek; But Mabel hasn't weathered well; She's eighty four next week!! Watching Mabel bump and grind; Could not have been much grimmer. And things then went from bad to worse;

She toppled off her Zimmer! She struggled back upon her feet; A couple minutes later; She put her teeth back in and said "I am a dominator!!" Now if you knew our Mabel, You'd see just why I spluttered, I'd spent two months in traction For the last complaint I'd uttered. She stood there nude and naked Bent forward just a bit I went to hold her, sensual like and stood on her left tit! Mabel screamed, her teeth shot out; My God what had I done! She moaned and groaned then shouted out: "Step on the other one!!" Well readers, I can tell no more; Of what occurred that day. Suffice to say my jet black hair, Turned fifty shades of grey!!

Random Joke :) MOSES AND THE RED SEA Nine-year-old Joey was asked by his mother what he had learned in Sunday school. "Well Mum, our teacher told us how God sent Moses behind enemy lines on a rescue mission to lead the Israelites out of Egypt. When he got to the Red Sea, he

had his army build a pontoon bridge and all the people walked across safely. Then he radioed headquarters for reinforcements. They sent bombers to blow up the bridge and all the Israelites were saved." "Now, Joey, is that really what your teacher taught you?" his mother asked. "Well, no, Mum, but, if I told it the way the teacher did, you'd never believe it!"

Summer Time Some Summer facts 1. The first day of summer is called the summer solstice. The term solstice is Latin for sun stand still. The sun is higher in the sky throughout the day, and its rays beam on the Earth at a more direct angle, causing the hotter temperatures we associate with summer. (Unless you live in England)!  2. While we try to beat the heat in the northern h e m i sphere, it's winter in the southern hemisphere. It's also the longest day of sunlight for places in the northern hemisphere and the shortest day for cities south of the equator. 3. You'll hear the term "The Dog Days of summer" very often, but the real "dog days" refers to the weeks between July 3 and August 11. They are named after the Dog Star (Sirius) in the constellation of Canis Major.

5. France's Eiffel Tower grows by more than six inches in summer due to the expansion of the iron on hot days. 6. The higher summer temperatures make July the most popular month for ice cream. In July, Americans celebrate National Ice Cream Month. U.S. citizens consume about 5.5 gallons per year (on average.) 7. Watermelon is the summer's favourite vegetable. Yes, vegetable and not a fruit. It is part of the cucumber, pumpkin, and squash family. Fruit or veggie, this juicy favourite is 92 percent water and the average American eats 15 pounds of watermelon a year. 8. Seventy-five degrees Fahrenheit is the perfect temperature for pools in the summer time. Any temperature over 90 degrees Fahrenheit is too hot and any temperature under 70 Fahrenheit degrees is too cold. 9. The last day of summer is September 20. The first day of autumn begins on September 21. So enjoy the summer solstice while it lasts!

4. Here's a fun experiment to try if you want to find out what the temperature is and don't have a thermometer. The frequency of a cricket's chirps fluctuates with the temperature, so if you count a cricket's chirps for 15 seconds and add 37, you will have the approximate outdoor temperature (in Fahrenheit).

Petrol Pump Facts Do not Pump Full Tank of Petrol....... Recently I came across a very useful tip. Many of us are not aware that the petrol kiosk pump has a return pipe-line (in Pink). When the petrol tank (in the car) reaches full level, there is a mechanism to trigger off the pump latch and at the same time a return-valve is opened (at the top of the pump station) to allow excess petrol to flow back into the pump. But the return petrol has already pass through the meter, meaning you are donating the petrol back to the Oil Dealer. Also only fill up your car or truck in the early morning when the ground temperature is still cold. Remember that all service stations have their storage tanks buried below ground. The colder the ground the more dense the petrol, when it gets warmer petrol expands, so buying in the afternoon or in the evening....your litre is not exactly a litre. In the petroleum business, the specific gravity and the temperature of the petrol, diesel and jet fuel, ethanol and other petroleum products plays an important role. A 1-degree rise in temperature is a big deal for this business. But the service stations do not have temperature compensation at the pumps. When you're filling up do not squeeze the trigger of the nozzle to a fast mode If you look you will see that the trigger has three (3) stages: low, middle, and high. You should be pumping on low mode, thereby minimizing the vapours that are created while you are pumping. All hoses at the pump have a vapour return. If you are pumping on the fast rate, some of the liquid that goes to your tank becomes vapour. Those vapours are being sucked up and back into the underground storage tank so you're getting less worth for your money. One of the most important tips is to fill up when your Petrol tank is HALF FULL. The reason for this is the more Petrol you have in your tank the less air occupying its empty space. Petrol evaporates faster than you can imagine. Petrol storage tanks have an internal floating roof. This roof serves as zero clearance between the Petrol and the atmosphere, so it minimizes the evaporation. Unlike service stations, where

every truck that is loaded is temperature compensated so that every litre is actually the exact amount. Another reminder, if there is a petrol truck pumping into the storage tanks when you stop to buy Petrol, DO NOT fill up; most likely the petrol is being stirred up as the Petrol is being delivered, and you might pick up some of the dirt that normally settles on the bottom. To have an impact, we need to reach literally millions of Petrol buyers. It's really simple to do. If this message gets passed on to thirty people. If each of that 30 then send it to at least ten more (30 x 10 = 300)...and those 300 send it to at least ten more (300 x 10 = 3,000) and so on, by the time the message reaches the sixth generation of people, we will have reached over Three MILLION consumers !!!!!!! If those three million get excited and pass this on to ten friends each, then 30 million people will have been contacted! Wow! Now that is a lot of money saved in petrol!

In a preview clip from an upcoming episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashians, Kim is seen calling her husband Kanye West with the shocking news that she could need a hysterectomy if she has another baby. Talking to the cameras, Kim revealed the latest development in her pregnancy struggle after she visited a fertility doctor. The star, who welcomed her daughter North nearly two years ago, has been open about her desire to have more children despite during her pregnancy insisting that she would never want to fall pregnant again. “Now there is nothing more on this earth than I want than to be pregnant again,” Kim told the camera. The “Mad Max” babe told Complex magazine that she struggled with anorexia throughout her teen years. “I had a really hard time when I was 16, 17, 18. I started with the eating disorder in high school… Just [a hard time] loving myself. I think it was part of being a woman, and being surrounded by [fame]. I don't think it was about the fame, but I think it was definitely about being around that world, seeing that world. I felt pressured.” Two years ago, Kravitz weighed just 90 pounds. “My parents got really scared for me

to go back down that road,” she revealed. “You could see my rib cage. I was just trying to lose more weight for the film but I couldn't seeYou're there. Stop. Get Out Of My Sun!! Remarkable photograph shows crocodile sat on a terrapin as they battled for perfect sunbathing spot

but admits the reptiles can be selective about where they like to sunbathe. Mike Bungard, curator of lower vertebrates and invertebrates at the zoo said: "It happens, but I think it's pretty rare to photograph it. "You might expect it to be the other way round, with the terrapin on top. "We have multiple basking spots in the enclosure to prevent competition and allow plenty of choice, so why they decided to climb over each other I don't know."

This incredible picture shows the moment a crocodile sat on a terrapin as they fought for the best spot to soak up the sun. Luckily for the red eared terrapin, the crocodile was one of the smallest in the world - a West African dwarf. Staff at the Paignton Zoo, in Devon, said there were multiple basking spots in the enclosure

The unnamed pair of reptiles live in the zoo's Reptile Tropics exhibit, and share the same enclosure. It could be a tough fight between the two, as the terrapin has powerful toothless jaws with sharp edges to tear food, and strong clawed feet. The dwarf crocodile usually grows up to 1.5 metres in length, comparatively tiny to the saltwater crocodile, which can grow to over five metres in length.

Get Off!!! IKEA in Beijing has begged shoppers to stop sleeping on the furniture The branch of the popular Swedish furniture shore has had enough of nappers putting off other shoppers. Navigating in IKEA can be difficult work, and it's understandable that you may need a rest.

IKEA was originally okay with this, and it's quite a common practice. They told the Wall Street Journal back in 2014: “This is a spontaneous phenomenon. Some customers who enter the Chinese stores sleep in the bed. IKEA in China does nothing to prevent nor anything to attract sleepers. "But we don’t see it as a problem, we’re happy people feel at home in our stores." "Certainly, it entails a little extra work for the staff, purely practically. But on the other hand, if customers try out our furniture and like it, we can sell an extra mattress or two.” They've changed their tune, however, and will be cracking down on nappers in their stores The Shanghailist reported that the Beijing branch will no longer be allowing this 'sampling' of the bedding. This is because it puts off shoppers and clutters up the store.

However, these shoppers in IKEA's Beijing store have taken it to the next level - by sleeping on the furniture.

Perfect restaurant for Weddings, Private Celebrations, Group meals and all types of occasions

There hasn't been any word on whether this will affect European stores, however. We think the pictures of sleeping customers are quite sweet.

& t i u Fr Facts   S Veg EPPER P

Although they belong to the chili pepper family, bell peppers are mild and can jazz up a salad in an instant, lend a perky crunch to your pizza, and taste fantastic when roasted. But the appeal of bell peppers goes way beyond their stunning good looks. Here’s a short list of the good things they can do for your health: Bell peppers are low in calories! So, even if you eat one full cup of them, you get just about 45 calories. Bonus: that one cup will give you more than your daily quota of Vitamin A and C! Red bell peppers are high in vitamin A, which helps to support healthy eyesight, especially night vision, and has also been shown to improve sperm quality. Red peppers contain almost 300 percent of your daily vitamin C intake. Besides being a powerful antioxidant, vitamin C is also needed for the proper absorption of iron. If you are iron deficient, try combining red peppers with your iron source for maximum absorption. Vitamin C also powers up your immune system and keeps skin youthful. Green peppers – which are just unripe red peppers – have half the vitamin C and 1/10th the vitamin A compared to their red or orange siblings. Red bell peppers also contain vitamin B6, which is essential for the health of the nervous system and helps renew cells, and magnesium. This vitamin and mineral combination shows a decrease in anxiety, especially related to pre-menstrual symptoms. Vitamin B6 is also a natural diuretic, so try stocking up on red bell peppers to reduce bloating and prevent against hypertension. Red bell peppers contain several phytochemicals and carotenoids – particularly betacarotene – which lavish you with antioxidant and anti-inflammatory benefits. The capsaicin in green bell peppers has multiple health benefits. Studies show that it re

duces ‘bad’ cholesterol, controls diabetes, brings relief from pain and eases inflammation. If cooked for a short period on low heat, bell peppers retain most of their sweet, almost fruity flavour and flavonoid content, which is a powerful nutrient. The sulphur content in bell peppers makes them play a protective role in certain types of cancers. The bell pepper is a good source of Vitamin E, which is known to play a key role in keeping skin and hair looking youthful.

through the water undetected. The quietly sneaky hunting technique gives them an impressive 90 percent successful predatory kill rate. Seahorses have a prehensile tail. This allows them to grip onto eel grass and other weeds and prevents them from being washed away by strong currents and waves.

o ah e S

With their slow, gentle demeanours and curlicue tails, seahorses might seem like the most harmless, unassuming creatures under the sea. But they're actually one of the most deadly… and definitely one of the weirdest. The mysterious marine creatures have a few tricks up their sleeves. Seahorses eat small crustacea such as Mysis Shrimp. An adult eats 30-50 times a day. Seahorse fry (baby seahorses) eat a staggering 3000 pieces of food per day. Seahorses are masters of disguise; their camouflage game is on point. The Latin name for seahorse is Hippocampus which means "Horse Caterpillar”.

Seahorses can change colour very quickly and match any surroundings in which it finds itself. A baby seahorse is called a "fry." And a group of seahorses is called a herd. Seahorses have no teeth and no stomach. They use their tube-shaped noses to suck up small animals, and they have to eat almost constantly since food passes through their digestive systems so quickly.

Seahorses have excellent eyesight and their eyes are able to work independently on either side of their head. This means they can look forwards and backwards at the same time… particularly useful as they hunt for food by sight. Seahorses pair for life. They meet first thing in the morning to reinforce their pair bonding with an elaborate courtship display. The female meets the male in his territory and as they approach each other, they change colour. The male circles around the female and the pair often spiral around an object. This display can last for up to an hour. Once over, the female goes back to her territory. Male seahorses are the ones who give birth. The female lays her eggs in the male's pouch for him to fertilize internally. He then carries them -- as many as 2,000 at a time -- for two to three weeks before giving birth. Sadly, less than one in a thousand will survive long enough to become an adult. They are known as the "assassins of the sea." Seahorse heads are shaped to let them move

Jean-Jacques Annaud adds another visually bold adventure tale to his filmography with Wolf Totem (Le Dernier Loup, or Lang Tu Teng), shot on location under daunting conditions over a year-and-a-half period on the rugged steppes of Inner Mongolia using real wolves and a bare minimum of new-fangled digital effects. With a built-in potential audience in China, this Sino-French co-production with Mandarin and Mongol dialogue is a proud throwback in look and spirit to a kind of filmmaking we don’t see much anymore. While a pack of fast and furious wolves chasing a stampede of horses in a blizzard by night is truly thrilling to behold, the story itself — based on a novel said to be the bestselling tome to date in China behind Mao’s Little Red Book — suffers from its superior knack for portraying its furry protagonists compared to the far less engaging human cast. In 1967, as the Cultural Revolution has taken hold, student Chen Zhen (Shaofeng Feng) arrives from Peking to teach the Mongols how to read and write Chinese instead of just existing in harmony as they have for centuries in an admirable ecosystem involving sheep, horses, grassy plains and wolves. The city-bred intellectual is soon fascinated by the wolves that Party officials intend to thwart by ordering newborn wolf cubs killed. The tribe’s wise elder Bilig (Basen Zhabu) protests that the wolves will not take kindly to having their offspring treated like tin cans in a trash compactor but the bureaucrats from central planning think they know better than Mother Nature. Chen secretly rescues and adopts a wolf cub, creating all sorts of dangerous ripples as, in the time-honored tradition of such stories, the city boy learns far more from the peasants than the peasants learn from him. Chen comes to the steppes with another urban student, Shawn Dou,who is subsequently given very little to do. Star Rating ****/*****

to restrict an avenue within your profession but ultimately you achieve what you want and will be at peace in your world

ARIES: March 21-April 20 You feel the world owes you something, whether you deserve it or not, so beware of being over demanding without offering anything in return. Analyse and determine your place within the world and the company you should be keeping

LIBRA: September 23 - October 22 Generally friendly and diplomatic, you find it difficult at this time to maintain commitment and feel uncomfortable as a result. In a personal relationship, break the routine and be spontaneous and impulsive

TAURUS: April 21-May 21 Your energetic work and clear goals are rewarded with promotion or significant improvement in activities and roles. A great time too for Taureans to make emotional commitment in marriage, affectionate relationships and with children

SCORPIO: October 23 - November 21 Beware of hasty judgment especially in sexual relationships and areas which hitherto you considered prohibited. Don’t be swayed by characters you would normally avoid! Attend to completion and delivery of important documents

GEMINI: May 22-June 21 When measuring results, take into account the spiritual growth you’ve achieved which has far more value than material gains. Maturity overcomes your sometimes superficial and fickle nature, and brings emotional stability

SAGITTARIUS: November 22 - December 21 A time of harmony, good humour and self-confidence in all relationships, whatever the circumstances real or perceived. Express your emotions and highest hopes to your loved ones. Take care of any vision problems

CANCER: June 22-July 22 Work is not the only medium through which to achieve your ambitions so bear in mind three fundamental factors – ideas, actions to implement them and people to whom they are presented – the last two being just as important as your inventiveness.

CAPRICORN: December 22 - January 20 As you intensely examine your beliefs and social commitment, open your ears and your mind to new voices. To really benefit, release a few ideals and entrenched materialistic analyses and join groups previously ignored

LEO: July 23-August 23 You respond generously to a friend who needs your support to overcome a difficult time. Try and take a weekend or short break to enjoy some outdoor activities and relax in nature, perhaps involve the friend previously mentioned. Beware of back problems and avoid risk in this area. VIRGO: August 24-September 22 You are facing a potential complex and radical change of course in life though your powerful internal resources allow you full control over your personal direction and ascension. Economic interests may seem

AQUARIUS: January 21 - February 19 The first half of May will bring many social invitations with much happiness and enjoyment for Aquarians. During the second half of the month you’ll need greater freedom in sentimental and economic fields but beware lack of sensuality with your partner which will make you feel insecure PISCES: February 20 - March 20 If you avoid your tendency to possessiveness and jealousy, and do not invent ghosts, your partner will support you and be intensely proud of your achievements. New strategies will help to action ambitions

) : a h a Jokes h I was shopping at the local supermarket where I selected: A half-gallon of 2% milk A carton of eggs A pint of orange juice A head of lettuce A 2lb. Can of coffee A 1lb. Package of bacon As I was unloading my items on the conveyor belt to check out, a drunk standing behind me watched as I placed the items in front of the cashier. While the cashier was ringing up the purchases, the drunk calmly stated, 'You must be single.' I was a bit startled by this proclamation, but I was intrigued by the derelict's intuition, since I indeed had never found Mr. Right. I looked at the six items on the belt and saw nothing particularly unusual about my selections that could have tipped off the drunk to my marital status.. Curiosity getting the better of me, I said , 'Yes you are correct. But how on earth did you know that?' The drunk replied, 'Cause you're ugly ------------------------------------------------------------A blonde gets home from work early & hears strange noises coming from the bedroom. She rushes upstairs only to find her husband naked lying on the bed, sweating and panting. 'What's up?' she asks. 'I think I'm having a heart attack,' - cries the husband.. The blonde rushes downstairs to grab the phone, but just as she's dialling, her four year old son comes up and says, "Mummy, Mummy, Aunty Shirley is hiding in the wardrobe, and she has no clothes on" The blonde slams the phone down and storms back upstairs into the bedroom right past her husband..

rips open the wardrobe door and sure enough, there is her sister, totally naked and cowering on the floor. 'You rotten Bitch', she screams. 'My husband's having a heart attack, and you're running around naked, playing hide and seek with the *******’ kids!!' ------------------------------------------------------------A missionary who had spent years showing a tribe of natives how to farm and build things to be self-sufficient gets the word that he is to return home. He realises that the one thing he never taught the natives was how to speak English, so he takes the chief and starts walking in the forest. He points to a tree and says to the chief, "This is a tree." The chief looks at the tree and grunts, "Tree." The missionary is pleased with the response. They walk a little further and the padre points to a rock and says, "This is a rock." Hearing this, the chief looks and grunts, "Rock." The padre is really getting enthusiastic about the results when he hears rustling in the bushes. As he peeks over the top, he sees a couple in the midst of heavy... activity. The padre is really flustered and quickly responds, "Riding a bike." The chief looks at the couple briefly, pulls out his blow gun and kills them. The padre goes ballistic and yells at the chief that he has spent years teaching the tribe how to be civilised and kind to each other, so how could he just kill these people in cold blood that way? The chief replied, "My bike." ------------------------------------------------------------What do you call a sheep with no legs?
