Thank you so much for all those who emailed with suggestions of things to help get rid of Ty’s eczema. I received quite a number of replies and lots of suggestions, including avocado oil, jojoba oil, and several brand name products. They’re all on a big list on my computer (as I also received a lot of suggestions via facebook), and I’ll try them one by one until we find the remedy that works best for Ty. Fortunately at the time of writing this it appears to be a bit better, so fingers crossed that continues. We understand that it’s no good just treating it topically but getting to the root of the condition – in this case, the gut. So we’re working hard on boosting the health of his stomach mainly via diet (my diet which comes through my breast milk), and taking probiotics. It seems that most sicknesses, rashes, etc stem from the diet, so I’m mainly staying clear of dairy, wheat, soy, sugar, and grains. And eating lots of healthy vegetables and protein. In truth, I’ve never felt better!
And now something about value. People tend to under-value themselves and those who do tend to do that get the short straw in life, as opposed to those who don’t and see their amazing value (not to be confused with vanity or big headedness). And it’s the same when it comes to magazines and which one you decide to place your advert in. Would you rather choose the magazine that is cheap and promotes itself

Strange News as such – because it has a lesser readership, less confidence in itself, less, less, less (of everything). Or would you rather put it in the one that costs slightly more but is far more valuable in terms of readership, distribution, quality and popularity – more, more, more of everything? The image of your business is important – as is association, so choose wisely :) That’s all for now – enjoy the start of the summer!

Coke test A woman went into a police station last month to see if officers could check if her cocaine was pure. Unsurprisingly, she was arrested. The 45-year-old woman entered the police station in Toulouse, France, with three bags of cocaine. She requested officers perform a test on the two bags of pure cocaine and a third of crack cocaine to see if they were pure. When asked why on earth she’d entered a police station, she claimed she simply ‘wanted the officers at the reception desk to test it because she wanted to know it was good quality so people do not die of an overdose’. The woman must appear in court in January 2017. It’s not yet known if she’s been charged with possession or intent to supply.

Fun Beach Games Beach games for those long Summer nights 1. How Low Can You Go? Nothing beats good-old digging in the sand. Get your kids to see how deep of a hole they can dig and when they’ve dug as far as they can, see if an adult can fit in the hole or see how long it takes to fill the hole with water. Required: spades and varying levels of attention span Skills developed: lifting and lowering objects
ends of a pool noodle, jump rope, or boat oar, have each child take a turn trying to go under the “bar” with their backs facing the sand. After each child has succeeded at a certain height of the bar, lower it again and again. If you can play music without disturbing other vacationers, pick a selection of fun beach tunes. Required: an item to use as a bar and music (optional) Skills developed: balance, falling, and tumbling
2. Mini Golf Let your child bring out their inner Phil Mickelson and spend a day at the sandy links. Pick up a plastic set of clubs and balls at your local Chinese shop or improvise with what you have on hand at the beach. Set up a few targets to aim for or dig holes in the sand to practice your child’s short game. Required: a set of clubs and balls Skills developed: striking, coordination 3. Beach Frisbee Golf Substitute a plain old game of frisbee with frisbee golf. Set up targets using items you brought to the beach (could be a picnic blanket, an umbrella, a towel, or you could even dig a hole in the sand to aim at). Take turns trying to throw your frisbee as close to the target as you can. Make sure smaller kids are allowed to stand closer to the target than the bigger ones to keep frustration levels to a minimum. Required: at least one frisbee Skills developed: throwing 4. Water Bucket Relay Kids love relay races, and at the beach the old egg and spoon race can be replaced with a water bucket relay. Give each child a plastic cup, spoon, or large shell and have them run to the water, fill their carrying implement, and race to empty it in a bucket. Kids love the challenge of trying to keep the water from spilling before they get it into their bucket. Required: a bucket and carrying tool for each child Skills developed: balance, agility 6. Limbo at the Beach The limbo dance originated in Trinidad in the 1800s. Bring it to the 21st century with a fun beach version. With two people holding the

Ginger... ....the Benefits 1. Ginger Contains Gingerol, a Substance With Powerful Medicinal Properties Ginger has a very long history of use in various forms of traditional/alternative medicine. It has been used to help digestion, reduce nausea and help fight the flu and common cold, to name a few. 2. Ginger Can Treat Many Forms of Nausea, Especially Morning Sickness 1-1.5 grams of ginger can help prevent various types of nausea. This applies to sea sickness, chemotherapy-related nausea, nausea after surgery and morning sickness. 3. Ginger May Reduce Muscle Pain and Soreness In one study, consuming 2 grams of ginger per day, for 11 days, significantly reduced muscle pain in people performing elbow exercises. 4. Ginger Can Help Treat Chronic Indigestion Chronic indigestion (dyspepsia) is characterised by recurrent pain and discomfort in the upper part of the stomach.
5. Ginger Powder May Significantly Reduce Menstrual Pain In one study, 150 women were instructed to take 1 gram of ginger powder per day, for the first 3 days of the menstrual period. Ginger managed to reduce pain as effectively as the drugs mefenamic acid and ibuprofen. 6. Ginger Contains a Substance That May Help Prevent Cancer Ginger extract has been studied as an alternative treatment for several forms of cancer. The anti-cancer properties are attributed to 6gingerol, a substance that is found in large amounts in raw ginger. In a study of 30 individuals, 2 grams of ginger extract per day significantly reduced pro-inflammatory signalling molecules in the colon. There is some, albeit limited, evidence that ginger may be effective against pancreatic cancer, breast cancer and ovarian cancer. More research is needed.
It is believed that delayed emptying of the stomach is a major driver of indigestion. Interestingly, ginger has been shown to speed up emptying of the stomach in people with this condition. In a study of 24 healthy individuals, 1.2 grams of ginger powder before a meal accelerated emptying of the stomach by 50%.

Interesting Facts Jordan is a small, poor country that lacks the natural resources of its neighbours and is the only country in the region with no oil. In 1923, after the dissolution of the Ottamen Empire Transjordan was designated a British mandate. Independence came in 1946. The full name of the country is The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. The Dead Sea or the Salt Lake in Jordan is the earth’s lowest point and lies 402 meters below mean sea level. It has one of the most spiritual and breathtaking landscapes on the planet. The Jordanians believe that praising children excessively can invite bad luck and is generally avoided. If you are offered a meal in Jordan it is considered polite to refuse three times before actually accepting it. It is widely believed that Mount Nebo in Jordan is the burial place of Moses. Jordan is the only Arab country where Palestinians can become citizens.

Random Jokes Mama taught her well! You've got to love this little girl. What a woman she'll make. A teacher asked her class, "What do you want out of life?" A little girl in the back row raised her hand and said, "All I want out of life is four little animals, just like my Mum always says". The teacher asked, "Really and what four little animals would that be?"The little girl said, "A mink on my back, a jaguar in the garage, a tiger in the bed and a jackass to pay for all of

This popular town is situated on the coast in the far East of the Costa del Sol and Axarquía, 56 kms from Málaga with a population of around 22,000, about 30% of whom are foreign residents. To cater for this large population there are about 400 restaurants and bars and as you stroll through the small narrow streets, reminiscent of the Lanes in Brighton or Shambles in York, you are quite spoiled for choice. The famous Caves of Nerja are actually in Maro and they were discovered as late as 1959 by 5 local boys , Francisco Navas Montesinos, José Torres Cárdenas, Manuel Muñoz Zorrilla, Miguel Muñoz Zorrilla and José Luis Barbero de Miguel, who after moving some stalagtites found themselves in an enormous pothole which descended into a huge cavern where they discovered sketetons and ceramic pottery, every boys dream come true! Today there is a large sculputure of the boys at the entrance to the caves. The discoveries inside the caves showed they were inhabited around 25,000 BC. Cave paintings as well as stone and bone tools and other artefacts are now on display in a Museum just outside the Cueva de Nerja. Although the Romans then inhabited the area, ruins of this settlement have been discovered near the town of Maro next door to Nerja, as with most of Andalucia the Arabs took over in the 8th Century and under their influence the town was known as Narixa, meaning Abundant Spring. The narrow cobbled streets of today

show this Moorish influence. Sometime in the sixteenth century during the ministry of Alonso de Molina Duran, the church of El Salvador was completed and still stands today in the square leading to the famous Balcon de Europa where on visiting the area after the earthquake in 1884, King Alfonso XII apparently stood and declared “This is the balcony of Europe” There is a life sized bronze statue of him standing against the rails overlooking the sea at the end of the Balcon which was first knows as La Batería, a reference to the gun battery that was there in a fortified tower. Two guns now sit on either side at the far end of the Balcon close to the King. On the road leading from Nerja to Maro stand the ruinous remains of the once proud San Joaquín Sugar Mill, built in 1585. Sugar cultivation has been part of life in this area for as long back as the 10th century, due to its micro climate. Large expanses of sugar cane were planted and irrigated from water channeled from the Acueducto del Aguila ( Eagle Aqueduct ) as it was first known. This continued until the closure of the Mill in 1911. However, the Larios sugar company then took over production in 1930 and continued until half way through the 20th century. Nowadays sugar cane production has gone and the richer crops of mango and avocado have taken over. The once vine covered hills of the Axarquía have since been replanted with this valuable source of income by the local farmers

Linea Directa HOW TO NEGOTIATE ROUNDABOUTS If you are unsure about the correct way to negotiate roundabouts, here are some simple rules to help you enter and exit roundabouts safely and in the right lane. APPROACHING ROUNDABOUTS It’s important to remember to give way to traffic already on the roundabout. If the roundabout is outside urban areas of towns or cities, keep right. If the roundabout is in a built-up area inside a town or city and the lanes are clearly marked, you should use the lane that best corresponds to the exit you need to take. LEAVING ROUNDABOUTS This causes the most confusion amongst drivers. Which lane to choose? Why do I get beeped at if I’m in the right lane? Drivers must exit roundabouts from the right hand lane, because the only way to leave the roundabout is by turning right. This doesn’t mean we always have to enter the roundabout from the right hand lane. It depends on the exit we need to take. However this simple rule, in practice, can be more complex. Let us see some examples.
1st EXIT RIGHT Enter roundabout keeping to right hand side lane. Stay in lane until exit is reached. Indicate and exit roundabout. CONTINUING STRAIGHT ON (e.g. 2nd EXIT STRAIGHT AHEAD) Enter roundabout keeping to right hand side lane. Stay in lane until exit is reached. Indicate prior to exit and leave roundabout. TURNING LEFT OR CHANGING DIRECTION (e.g. 3rd OR FINAL EXIT) Enter roundabout keeping to left hand side lane. Stay in lane until you have passed the exit before your turn off, then change lane by indicating right and giving other road users sufficient time to anticipate your manoeuvre. Don’t forget that drivers circulating in the outside lanes have priority, so use your mirrors to ensure you are not blocking them as you change lanes. We hope the information provided in this article is of interest. If you would like to contact Línea Directa please call 902 123 165 More information on Línea Directa online at www.lineadirecta.com

Signage Solutions Signage is so ingrained in our collective minds that most of the time we go about our daily activities without even noticing they are there For local small businesses, they are a priceless way to gain new customers. Signs attract new customers and alert them that you exist. Recent surveys found that many customers would have never found a business unless they had seen its sign. Signs help your business to become more profitable. Installing a new sign or banner can increase business as much as nearly 16 percent. It’s a fast, easy way to plump up your bottom line without spending too much money. Small business signs are a vital part of the community. Many new people move into your neighbourhood every year—your sign encourages them to visit your business. Your customers drive past your business daily; your signage keeps you top of their mind. Studies show that consumers are more likely to remember your business from your shop signage and magazines than they are from television or radio ads.
Your signage draws people in on impulse. One survey showed that up to 45 percent of people reported stopping at a business on impulse last year. You’re already making money from customers who have planned to shop at your store—why not entice a few in on impulse? You’ll gain a new customer and they’ll gain a great new place to shop. There are many signage solutions whether it be shop signs, window graphics, large format digital prints or vehicle signs all have advantages. For eg with vehicle signs the obvious advantage is increased exposure. You will be able to travel through your city or town and advertise your business without even trying. Customers will be able to write down your company’s information or even pull your information up on their smartphone without waiting until they get home. You are effortlessly driving traffic to your business. Asbestos - Have You Been In Contact?
In this edition, I thought I would look at a number of questions that often arise and that make people worried about the possibility of making a claim. My message is, if in doubt ask!
breathing difficulties can be attributed to asbestos. This is the point we have to prove in all respiratory disease cases, not just asbestos related but also, for example, silicosis – medical evidence is required to prove a link.
I CANNOT REMEMBER WHERE I WORKED OR THE COMPANY I WORKED FOR NO LONGER EXISTS. It is not unusual for companies that traded in the 1960’s, for example, to have long since stopped trading. With investigations I can trace insurers who provided cover for these companies and they are obliged to deal with the claims. Even if you are hazy about the exact name of a company or your period of employment with them, I can obtain your work history from HM Revenue & Customs and this provides confirmation of who you worked for all those years ago.
Claims for breathing problems caused by exposure to asbestos can be complex but the quicker the claim is started the quicker these issues can be dealt with. So, if you are concerned about your particular situation or have any questions please do not hesitate to get in touch. I am happy to talk to you free of charge.
I HAVE BEEN DIAGNOSED WITH AN ASBESTOS CONDITION BUT I DID NOT WORK WITH ASBESTOS. I always like to meet my clients and it is surprising how often, when you start talking about a persons work history, what they remember. Often, it turns out that even if a person did not actually work with asbestos, they worked alongside people who did and therefore came into contact with dust. Another possibility, and a particularly sad one in my experience, is a wife who comes into contact with asbestos from her husband’s work clothes. A RELATIVE HAS DIED FROM AN ASBESTOS RELATED CONDITION BEFORE MAKING A CLAIM It is not widely known that claims can be made even though the person affected has died (provided the claim is made within 3 years of death). The claim is made on behalf of the persons estate. DIAGNOSING AN ASBESTOS RELATED CONDITION There are a number of conditions that can be caused by exposure to asbestos, including lung cancer. The main issue is whether the

Clinica Europa - Your Health Partner What is a dental implant? Many years ago, dentistry stopped being an activity based on tooth extractions, treatment of caries, fillings and, in some cases, bridges or even complete removable dentures. Through root canal treatments and aesthetic reconstruction, today’s dentist is usually able to save an affected tooth. Nowadays, only a tooth suffering excessively advanced cavity – which prevents its reconstruction – ends up being removed. Today’s dental implants have also provided great improvements in dental assistance. Dental implants are artificial roots – usually made of titanium – that are used to support custom-made artificial teeth, complementing each person's features. The result is an artificial tooth which is functionally and aesthetically in line with the rest of the mouth in which it is implanted. The main advantage is that dental implants immediately improve the ability to speak and chew. They also provide aesthetic improvements which bring an added feeling of security and confidence. Dental implants are one of the best options for replacing missing teeth, rather than using removable dentures or adjacent teeth to support a bridge. Implants are a long-term substitute, which the maxillofacial surgeon surgically places in the jawbone, helping to achieve a full set of teeth again. The number of people who have implants increases every day and the reason for this is simple – because they work! While bridges and dentures are supported by adjacent teeth, causing these to wear, they do not stop bone loss. However, implants integrate themselves perfectly in the mouth and prevent the bone loss that occurs when natural teeth are lost.
The integration process usually takes from three to six months. Once it has taken place, the implant is securely fixed to the bone, and then the dental crown is anchored to the implant, giving the appearance of a natural tooth in a healthy mouth. Implants are an excellent option in the long run to repair damaged teeth; one of the benefits they offer is that if well taken care of, they last for a long time – in the best cases, for life. They provide a beautiful smile and avoid problems such as loose dentures due to bone loss, especially in elderly people. Thus, the development and use of dental implants is considered one of the major advances in dentistry in the last 40 years. We must always remember that hygiene is very important. Keeping good oral hygiene will increase the possibilities of the implant lasting a long time. Our highly specialised team has ample experience with implantology procedures and from our clinic, depending on your needs, we offer customised financial payment plans. At Clínica Europa we have renewed our equipment to provide a better service for your dental health, and with the recent incorporation of Dr. José Antonio Gonzalez, a maxillofacial specialist, we give our patients the most specialised techniques in dental implants. Do not hesitate to consult us for a personalised study of your oral and dental health and aesthetics, and to receive the information you may need as well as an estimate without commitment. Strange Baby Names Here is a list of the strangest and most popular baby names in 2016 1. Sansa: Game of Thrones appears to be inspiring many funny sounding baby names. Sansa is one of them. 2. Xzayvian: Here is another funny name. It looks like the parents were trying to squeeze as many consonants as possible into one name. 3. Sirjames: It seems that the parents wanted to give a royal title to their baby. They decided to go ahead and combine the first name with the honorific prefix. 4. Audi: The parents have gifted the name of their favorite car brand to their baby. Is there any better example of brand loyalty? 5. Adeline: Yes, there is nothing wrong with the feminine name Adeline. But how can anyone name his baby boy Adeline? We can only hope that it was a clerical error.
6. Levaeh: Lavaeh is a weird variation of the name Nevaeh, which is Heaven spelled backward. But what does Leveah mean? Can anybody make a wild guess? 7. Tokyo: Brooklyn and Austin are two of the most popular names inspired by places. But there are also some parents who named their son after the cosmopolitan city Tokyo 8. Pilot Inspektor: Pilot Inspektor is the child of Jason Lee. Jason Lee is a comic actor who was a part of the first season of the television series ‘My Name Is Earl’. Maybe he has lost his comic timing to gift his child this name! 9. Fifi Trixibelle: The Irish singer Bob Geldof named his daughter Fifi after his aunt. ‘Belle’ comes from his wife’s fixation with the lifestyle of French belles. But why Trixi? 10. Apple: Apple is the name of Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin’s daughter. They chose this fruity name because it sounds sweet.

Shane Williams Lifestyle
Established over twelve years ago in Salobreña, Shane Williams Designs has gradually evolved over the years from an Interior Design business operating from a small showroom in Salobreña to becoming a multi facetted company that have now reWilliams Shane launched cently Lifestyles... Attention to detail has been the key to the success of the Shane Williams businesses and Shane Williams Interiors grew from interior design services including sourcing furniture and soft furnishings projects for many local projects here on the Costa Tropical, stretching with clients further afield towards Marbella, Mijas and beyond. The original showroom and shop in Salobreña was soon outgrown and their new premises were opened in La Herradura in 2011. Soon after Shane Williams Project Management was established, with full refurbishments and renovations offered, Shane’s realising that all too often extensions, newbuilds and reforms were often carried out by builders and architects that although professional did not offer the same realisation of the end product and how the homeowner could truly benefit from an interior design perspective from start to finish. From conception to planning to completion, Shane Williams Project Management evolved the business, innovatively fusing design and construction to become prominent in the field. Once again reforming and constructing across the Costa del Sol from Salobreña to Sotogrande. Specialising in rental investment properties, Shane Williams has been adding rental value to holiday let properties throughout the years. From two bed apartments through to large villas with outdoor spaces, Shane’s twelve years of experience in the industry can add a hefty percentage of rental returns by redesigning and adding the wow factor to all holiday rental properties. The same applies to selling, Boon Villas (part of Shane Williams Lifestyle group) has had great success selling villas Shane has added her magic touch to.
Shane Williams new venture, Shane Williams Lifestyle, offers a modern, comprehensive service, comprising interior design, design and build, property searches in both sales and rentals as well as a unique aftersales property service with an unrivalled focus on the individuals needs. With the emphasis having always been on quality, which has applied not just to the interior design and building projects undertaken, it is also true of their property rentals and sales arms too. Each of their properties is carefully selected with the same attention to detail that has always been their core, offering their clients not only the finest in quality but also in design. Shane Williams Lifestyle will be opening their brand new showroom in La Herradura this month, offering the complete, exclusive lifestyle package, with property sales and prestigious unique holiday rental properties, combining all the original services offered by Shane and her hand picked experts in a range of fields. With a broad range of speciality services offered to meet needs of clients that are looking for that something special and something unique. See advert on page opposite

La Vaqueria - Benamargosa This month at La Vaqueria we are afflicted with “mosaic madness”… ...it is highly contagious and the symptoms range from wanting to stick little pieces of tile together to dreaming of covering the whole house with broken crockery. The only known cure is to get on and do just that! The rain has gone and I am inbetween commissions, the perfect gap in my busy timetable to get on with a few of the projects that I have in mind. New in the garden are a range of planters which at 80cms high and 30cm across make a stunning statement… just the thing to show off an architectural type plant such as agarve or one of the other upright succulents. Also perfect for plants with exquisite flowers as you
don’t have to bend down to see them!! We have stock for sale but you may also drop in to get some ideas, discuss your ideas or commission a piece for yourself. We also have smaller mosaics for sale; ideal for brightening up a dull corner, great for a splash of colour in dry/campo gardens where water is in short supply and they also make great gifts. Every piece is unique. On the first Saturday of every month we have a workshop where you will learn everything you need to know to get you started in this wonderful medium. Oh, and by the way….if you have any broken crockery, pots or tiles please don’t throw them out. Instead if you could drop them off at La Vaqueria in Benamargosa and I can turn your rubbish into art!!! Thank you :) See advert on page 106
Axarquia Sol Aqua Solar Pool Pumps
It costs on average 1,300€ per year to run a pool pump 4-6 hours per day, in the summer months, possibly more!
From my building/engineering background of some 30 years, I looked at this problem, as turning your pump off is not a option, or is it? The solution I came up with was to install a German manufactured solar pump, with a high life expectancy, as it is brushless. This far exceeds most normal pump life by some 5 times. It is installed / plumbed alongside your existing pump, keeping this as a back up, seems common sense. A simple 3 panel solar array is installed, at a practical existing roof point. In full sunlight, the basic model pumps a little over 4,000 gallons per hour. For example: a 10m x 4.5m wide is approx. 14,298 imp gallons so in 3.5 hours it has filtered the whole pool for free. The average cost, fully installed, subject to survey is 3,500€ of which you would only pay to Endesa for the existing pumps electricity use in a 3 year period anyway. To register an interest in this and see a fully functional system, shortly to be fitted locally, near Lake Vinuela, email: ianmidwinter2@gmail.com

Writing Quotes A good style should show no signs of effort. What is written should seem a happy accident. W. Somerset Maugham, Summing Up, 1938 They lard their lean books with the fat of others' works. Robert Burton, Anatomy of Melancholy, 1621 The road to hell is paved with adverbs. Stephen King It is plagiarism when you take something out of a book and use it as your own. If you take it out of several books then it is research. Quoted by Ralph Foss, 1932 My language is the common prostitute that I turn into a virgin. Karl Kraus As to the adjective, when in doubt, strike it out. Mark Twain, Pudd'nhead Wilson, 1894 We write to remember our nows later. Terri Guillemets
As for my next book, I am going to hold myself from writing it till I have it impending in me: grown heavy in my mind like a ripe pear; pendant, gravid, asking to be cut or it will fall. Virginia Woolf Caress your phrase tenderly: it will end by smiling at you. Anatole France I think it's bad to talk about one's present work, for it spoils something at the root of the creative act. It discharges the tension. Norman Mailer An author, behind his words, is naked. Terri Guillemets My prose style at this time was a stomachtwisting blend of the Bible, Carl Sandburg, H.L. Mencken, Jeffrey Farnol, Christopher Morley, Samuel Pepys, and Franklin Pierce Adams imitating Samuel Pepys. I was quite apt to throw in a "bless the mark" at any spot, and to begin a sentence with "Lord" comma. E.B. White (1899–1985)

450lb Shark Shark caught off Cornwall coast This incredible picture shows the moment British anglers got a shock when they reeled in a shark weighing a whopping 450lbs - using only a rod and line. The six friends were fishing off the North Cornwall coast when the 7ftlong creature, identified as a Porbeagle Shark, took the bait a mile and a half out. The shark was so powerful that the men had to take turns reeling it in. After almost 25 minutes of strenuous effort, the huge fish landed on their boat. It was returned to the water shortly afterwards. One of the men on the boat, John Hodgkins, 31, said: "Without a doubt this is the fish of a lifetime. Everybody has said how much of a monster it was. She would normally be out in the deep water but they come in for so many weeks of the year to get rid of their babies, then go back to the deep water."
John said the razor-toothed shark was so huge that the skipper, Daniel Hawkins, was reluctant to bring it on deck. He said: "The skipper came to the conclusion she had just let go of her babies. She had just given birth, that's the reason we took the decision to boat her. "We had a few beers the night before but that sure woke us up." The British seaside is not known for being dangerous when it comes to shark attacks. However, it is not the first time a Porbeagle Shark a close relative of the Great White - has been spotted around these parts. Last year a 6.5ft long shark was caught by a fisherman just 300 yards off Chesil Beach, in Dorset. The International Union for Conservation of Nature classifies the Porbeagle Shark as a threatened species.

Helping Axarquia If I do not make any profit from the sale of my house, should I pay plusvalĂa (Municipal Capital Gains Tax)? In the last few years, it is common that the sale of a property generates losses instead of profits, since prices have dropped considerably. As a result, many taxpayers have refused to pay the plusvalia tax and some have brought lawsuits against the town councils whose responsibility it is to collect the tax. The first judgment on this issue has been decreed by a court of San Sebastian (Spain), which casts doubts on the legality of this tax when the property sale price is lower than the purchase price, and a loss has resulted. Likewise, the High Court of Justice in the Autonomous Community of Valencia has also questioned the method of calculating this tax, since it only takes into account the cadastral value of the property and the number of years elapsed between the purchase and sale, leaving aside the actual market evolution.
The publication of these judgments does not annul the aforementioned tax when losses are generated as a result of a property sale, but it represents a beginning which may result in the exemption from payment when losses occur. SuBo tantrum Susan Boyle was caught up in a dramatic showdown with police recently after suffering another meltdown in public. Police were called to the British Airways lounge at Heathrow where SuBo, 55, was in a heated disagreement with a staff member. A witness said: “She looked confused and was shouting: ‘I’ve done nothing wrong, I’ve done nothing wrong’ repeatedly. “There was a massive commotion and everyone was looking at her.” This was the third reported public incident in which the singer has appeared out of control, leading to fears for her mental health. Earlier last month, SuBo, who became an international star after appearing on Britain’s Got Talent in 2009, shocked travellers by shouting “Help me” at Derry Airport, Northern Ireland. In 2010 she stunned passengers in a VIP lounge at Heathrow Airport when she started dancing around and sang into a mop which she had grabbed from a cleaner.
"Check out the patterns we put on Princess’s pony." Speaking to the Daily Mirror, PETA animal welfare spokesman Mimi Bekhechi said: "Clipping patterns into a horse’s hair is about human vanity and reduces smart, sensitive animals to playthings. "If Ms Price wishes to shave hearts and diamonds into someone’s hair, we suggest she use her own head and leave animals out of it." Outraged fans also took up the reins of rage. One wrote: "What a disgrace! I thought she loved horses but clearly I was wrong!"

Patterned ponies Former glamour model and reality TV star Katie Price has been slammed by fans and animal rights charity People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) for ‘shaving’ patterns into her ponies' rear ends. The model found herself in trouble after sharing shots of daughter Princess' pony sporting fancy shapes cut into its coat. Next to the Instagram snaps, Katie wrote:

The 25-year-old, who denied the reports, used a Snapchat filter of a Wanted Dead or Alive poster to make herself clear. The furore began when Beyonce released her new album Lemonade, which was quickly dubbed the “break-up album” due to its numerous references to cheating – believed to be aimed at her husband Jay Z. In the track ‘Sorry’, Beyonce sings: “He only want me when I’m not there/He better call Becky with the good hair.” Ora had earlier hit back at rumours she might be ‘Becky,’ tweeting “I never usually address tabloid gossip but let me be

Who doesn’t love a juicy, tasty peach?
Peaches are thought to be an aphrodisiac.
Peaches have been grown for centuries. They were first cultivated in China where they are considered a symbol of immortality and friendship.
Peach flowers have sedative properties. A remedy for restlessness includes boiling peach flowers in water, along with some honey.
Peaches are the perfect snack food for losing weight. A peach makes you feel full and keeps you from overeating. One peach only contains about 35-50 calories and no fat! They can fight obesity-related diabetes and cardiovascular disease. Peaches are rich in phytochemicals called phenols that act as antioxidants.
They can inhibit tumour growth activity. Peaches have excellent antimicrobial and antioxidant activity, according to research. Chronic bronchitis, coughs and gastritis are relieved with the medicinal tea of the leaves and bark of peach trees. Peach tea is used as a kidney cleanser in China.
They can help keep the skin healthy. Vitamin A and C make peaches a great natural moisturiser; they’re often used in cosmetics. These vitamins can help regenerate skin tissue. They can reduce hair loss with their positive effect on the scalp. A peach is a healthy stress-reliever that helps reduce anxiety. Peaches are often referred to as the ‘Fruit of Calmness’ in Hungary. They help prevent cancer with their selenium — a mineral with antioxidant properties that may help protect cells from damage. Peaches can help remove worms from the intestines. They have a diuretic effect which help cleanse your kidneys and bladder. Peaches can calm an upset stomach. People Who Come And Go What’s in a Referendum amongst friends! This Spring has been a challenge for so many due to the uncertainly surrounding the infamous “Brexit”! But after expecting to only have Dutch and Belgian clients this Spring, I have been amazed at how many Brits are here, searching for a property. We poor Brits (yes, our dear European friends and neighbours will laugh) have always been plagued (or blessed!) with the desease known as ‘Wanting to be different’. Therein, perhaps, lies our uniqueness, our quintessential eccentricity! We have to drive on the left when the rest of Europe drives on the right, we use feet and acres and not metres, we still weigh ourselves in stones instead of Kilos, and of course, we have our good old pounds, instead of Euros. We even eat at completely different times! So, many might say it was inevitable that we would reach that crunch moment, after 32 years of being in the Common Market, when we would have to ask ourselves if we are maybe becoming a bit too like everyone else
in Europe for our own liking! But are we really ready to break with Europe? Are we really, for example, going to stop making Spain our favourite first or second place of residence? There may currently be a raging debate going on in Britain and amongst the many Brits living, studying and working across Europe, there may be worries about what will happen to the exchange rate, the economy and whether we will still be residents in Spain, but all I know is that the Brits are still pouring into Spain. Some have concerns, that are holding them back, but what is quite evident from my point of view is that Brexit or no Brexit, they will continue to buy in Spain and enjoy it as much as ever before! So here’s to a bright future in our beautiful Andalucía, with as many Brits and/or Europeans, with all our great diverse cultures and characteristics, mixing with the Spanish and living happily together as ever before! Deep beneath the immense oceans lie some of the Earth’s greatest mysteries. The truth that we know more about the surface of the moon than we do about the depths of the sea bed is alone a mind-boggling reality. Exploring the underwater world, we can only scratch the surface in discovering surreal species of fish from tropical delights to untold terrors. The obese dragonfish is one such wonder. These deep water denizens live up to 5000m below sea level. At such depths there is no natural light so these fish have evolved ‘photophores’, or light-
producing organs, which cover its body in rows and below both eyes. The fish’s prey cannot detect this light, but it illuminates them to the obese dragonfish like neon takeaway signs, ready to be snapped up by its greedy jaws. They are found in three separate oceans: the Indian, Atlantic, and Pacific oceans. Obese dragonfish are not commonly seen. This is due more to their particular habitat, than an apparent dearth of numbers. Among their most distinctive features is the complete lack of scales on their bodies. The mouth is large, and possesses long teeth resembling fangs. The back set of these in the lower jaw protrude through the upper jaw. Given their habitat, they are not considered a threat to humans.

The Summer Time The blanket of heat has arrived. Jumpers are stored away and the the summer wardrobe dug out. I have two wardrobes for summer. One has t -shirts and dresses, skirts and shorts. The other is what I really wear all day, my sarongs. The amazing sarong, flimsy and light but coming in all colours and patterns, cheap and easy to wash. And have you seen the videos online on one hundred ways to stylemthem?! It is the only piece of clothing I can bear to wear whilst at home, pool or at the beach in summer. Doubling as something for my girls to lie on at the pool or to use to hide under when the sun gets too much. The sarong signifies summer and the simple approach we use to cope with the heat here. Life slows down. Meals become lighter and eaten later. Work (if it can be) is done early morning or later on at night. Homework becomes a distant thought as children have three months off. August is the month of closed offices, no paperwork and beach. I work from home at the moment and have the luxury of being able to manage more or less my hours. I get up early, work, we have lunch and a rest and then meet friends at the local pool. The children are happy. My smallest daughter playing with friends in the water, my teenager playing cards on the terrace with the older crew. Pool time is over at 8 and we wander home to walk the dog and I tidy up, water plants, work a little more and then we have a late dinner. It works well. After summers of staying in over the hot afternoons and the girls being bored and watching too much TV a pass to the local pool is the best solution for us. We all get to be with friends and come home happy and healthier after swimming a good part of the day. June and July bring the end of school. Five year old children, those leaving Primary and also Secondary all have graduations. Photos are taken, white tops and the graduation hats. Then a ceremony at the school. This year my sixteen year old graduates from her high school. The odd thing about Spanish secondary schools is this, the kids graduate before knowing if they have passsed their exams! I find this a little strange but will go with the flow. The pictures are sent home, the dresses and suits are bought and the teens stand tall and proud with their teachers as they graduate. But
a fair amount of them will not pass and then have to repeat the exams or repeat the school year. My daughter has been accepted to study in Malaga so I will go to the graduation smiling but with my fingers crossed behind my back. Enjoy the summer. Rest when the heat gets too much and when the noise from the fiesta is too loud remember it will be over soon. Go to the beach and get in the pool. Listen to the crickets and buy a hat you love. Tan slowly and carefully. Make gazpacho, drink a mojito. Have a wander round Malaga city (they have shading up over the streets) and let your visitors take over the bbq a couple of times. We are in paradise.

After the collateral damage caused by the previous efforts of the Avengers proves to be too much for the world’s governments, the United Nations comes together to introduce the Sokovia Accords, a resolution that will turn the superheroes into a task force supervised and directed by the UN itself. But not all our heroes are ready to blindly follow the commands of an organisation that could just as easily have an agenda like S.H.I.E.L.D. (or Hydra) before it, and that’s what leads to the titular superhero
The result is a sharp, astounding, actionpacked summer blockbuster that’s the kind of superhero movie you’ve been waiting to see your whole life. This is a comic book film where the action is just as harrowing as it is entertaining due to the care and respect that we’ve come to have for these superheroes after spending a total of 11 films with them in the Marvel cinematic universe. Directors Anthony & Joe Russo have pulled together a movie that brings as much hard-hitting drama to the table as much as it does astounding action. It’s the perfect model for what serial comic book movies can be. Star Rating ****/*****

Going For The Wine: Valpolicella The name Valpolicella conjures up visions of wonder, quality and grandeur. Valpolicella is a viticultural area in the province of Verona, Italy. Wines have been made in this area since at least the ancient Greeks inhabited. Valpolicella is the best recognised wine region in the north-eastern Italy’s Veneto wine region and growth of the wine industry, in this area, expanded greatly during the 1960’s. I searched for a range of these wines, from a single company dedicated and committed to producing highquality wines
These red Valpolicella wines utilise Corvina Rondinella and Molinara grape varieties to great advantage. For personal preferences these wines pair extremely well with red meats, rich fish (such as salmon and tuna), poultry, plus soft and hard cheeses, too.
The Bottega company has gained a lot of knowledge during the years producing excellent wines, with many prestigious awards being collected for their outstanding productions. I found Bottega to have a splendid, impressive collection of Valpolicella wines within their exceptional range of beverages and food products, all of which are produced with responsibility and a total respect for the areas’ environments and communities.
www.bottegaspa.com
Bottega Valpolicella Classico (DOC) is a very good production and popular with many. This smooth, dry, ruby red wine has a pleasant bouquet and good mouthfeel. Bottega Valpolicella Classico Superiore (DOC) is classed as a noble red wine. This wine has an excellent structure and is chosen for numerous occasions and important events, by connoisseurs. Aged for 12-18 months in oak, this production has a great aroma, which leads enticingly to the full-bodied, velvety-textured taste. Bottega Ripasso Valpolicella Superiore (DOC) is a further example of high-quality productions from this company. The process of a double fermentation ensures the best aromas. Again, aged in oaks, this is a superbly-balanced, dry wine and is long on the palate. Bottega Amarone Della Valpolicella (DOCG) I found full-bodied and well-balanced. A splendid, dry finish on the palate makes this powerful, smooth wine, a regular choice for numerous lovers of Valpolicella.

Kennel Angels - Making A Difference As an animal rescue charity, AAR are constantly looking for ways to improve the prospects of finding forever homes for their rescued dogs. Many of these dogs turn out to be wonderful, loving and loyal pets despite the trauma they have gone through. Foster homes provide a great opportunity to help a dog to grow in confidence and build trust, but sometimes there aren’t enough foster homes to go around. The dogs then have to be put into private kennels until a foster home can be found. This can take weeks or months and although these souls are fed, given treatment and cared for, opportunities for stimulation that will benefit their long term are scarce. Many of the dogs have not had the luxury of a loving home life, some have been physically abused or starved and the majority have the additional mental scarring of being dumped or abandoned. The purpose of a Kennel Angel is to start the process of socialising or re-socialising the kennel dogs, helping them to overcome their fears.
Being a volunteer Kennel Angel is totally flexible and involves initially visiting the kennels and meeting the dogs, getting to know them and gaining their trust. This may be once a week, or more if time permits. Socialising plays an important part in preparing the dogs for a foster or forever home. Kennel Angels work with one or more of the dogs and provide opportunities for them to experience different situations such as: walking on a lead; visiting markets or cafÊs; going on short car journeys or simply sitting, talking to and spending time with the animals. Obviously, giving treats or rewards is an important part! It is, of course, useful to have experience of dogs, but most importantly to love them. It is an ideal opportunity for people who can’t commit to fostering or adoption to interact with a dog or dogs, and becomes therapeutic to both parties. This rewarding opportunity is open to residents or non-residents who may spend several weeks or months in Spain. Kennels are based in Puente Don Manuel and Riogordo so anyone within travelling distance who is interested can find out more by contacting AAR at axarquia-rescue@hotmail.com

June events and excursions 7th – Coach excursion to Mijas & Torremolinos “Botanical Gardens Molina de Inca”.Lux Mundi, Torre del Mar invite you to join friends and visit Mijas Pueblo. A historical and artistic complex situated in the Sierra de Mijas. The Old Town is a typical white Muslim village, with narrow streets and parts of the old walls are still standing offering great panoramic views of the Costa del Sol from the beautiful gardens & cliff walk. There is a village square and maybe during your free time you can visit the Shrine of Virgen de la Peña, the Church of Imaculate Conception, Bullring, the Shrine of the Calvario and stroll through the narrow streets with its many shops. We suggest that you research the various sites to visit, for opening times and entrance prices, before you go on the trip either via the internet or by contacting the Tourist Office before or during your visit to make the best use of your free time. There will be time for you to enjoy lunch in its varied restaurants after which you will rejoin the coach to the town of Torremolinos. Here, you will visit the Botanical Gardens of Molina de Inca, which in 1700 was given a licence for Joseph de Inca Sotomayor by the Corporation of Malaga to build two flour mills on land that had a natural spring and these mills after extensive, careful restoration are still working to-day. You are able to see photos, working models and an explanation of how this work was carried out. Leaving the mill you will find yourself in the gardens which are a joy. Carefully maintained paths transport you from one vista to another. The four seasons are represented by classical sculptures positioned to symbolise the circular
movement of Time and the celebration of various seasonal rites. Around another bend two stone lions remind us of the value of the water they guard and the Japanese garden is a delight. You will then re- join the coach at approximately 17.45 for the return journey to Torre del Mar. Ticket Price 15€ available at the Centre. All proceeds to fund raising. Departure times Viñuela (Football Pitch) 8.30am, Algarrobo (Lidl) 8.55am, Caleta (Vets) 9.05am and Torre Del Mar (Bus Station) 9.10am. ) : a h a Jokes h Thanks to MP for the following jokes George Osbourne is shocked that many multimillionaires pay virtually no tax. That's like Ronald McDonald staring in horror at really fat kids. ------------------------------------------------------------A Garda stopped at a farm in Co Galway and talked to an old farmer. He told the farmer, "I need to inspect your farm for illegally grown drugs." The farmer said, "Okay, but don't go into that field over there...", as he pointed out the location. The Garda verbally exploded and said, "Look mister, I have the authority of the Garda Síochána with me!" Reaching into his rear back pocket, the arrogant Garda removed his badge and proudly displayed it to the farmer. "See this badge?! This badge means I can go wherever I want... On any land! No questions asked, no answers given! Do you understand old man?!" The farmer kindly nodded, apologised and went about his farm work. Moments later the farmer heard loud screams, he looked up and saw the Garda running for his life, being chased by the farmer’s big Bull McCabe. With every step the bull was gaining ground on the Garda and it was likely that he'd sure enough get gored before he reached safety. The officer was clearly terrified. The old farmer threw down his tools, ran as fast as he could to the fence, and yelled at the top of his lungs......"YOUR BADGE! SHOW HIM YOUR BADGE! Ya facking eejit!” ------------------------------------------------------------If you're 10% Polish, does that make you a tad pole? -----------------------------------------------------------BREAKING NEWS ............... just seen Cat Stevens at Cambopino Camping crying his eyes out distraught.....when I asked for an interview he just said........awning has broken!! ------------------------------------------------------------I was wondering the other day what our parents must have done for entertainment before
television was popular and affordable! I asked my 38 brothers and sisters if they had any ideas, but none of them could suggest an answer either. ------------------------------------------------------------As I sat in the living room my five year old shouted at me from the back door. "I can't hear you if you're shouting from outside." I said. Again, he shouted back. "I told you, I can't hear you from there. It's rude to shout. If you want me to hear you, walk into the living room." I replied. A few moments later my son appeared in the living room. "Dad, I've got dog s*** all over my shoes." ------------------------------------------------------------My mate just bought a Pub, and was going to rename it "Prince Charming" or "Goody Two Shoes." I tried to talk him out of it, but he's Adamant. ------------------------------------------------------------Does anyone know how long you cook those 'boil in the bag fish' you get given at the fun fair for? ------------------------------------------------------------I've never understood why women love cats. Cats are independent, they don't listen, they don't come in when you call, they like to stay out all night, and when they're home they like to be left alone and sleep. In other words, every quality that women hate in a man, they love in a cat. ------------------------------------------------------------My grandfather died recently, he spent his final years as a regular user of facebook. We won't see the likes of him again ------------------------------------------------------------Just come down from a really great hallucinogenic experience from some drugs I was recommended on the internet. Thanks Trip Advisor ! ------------------------------------------------------------The last time I visited Blackpool, I went on a donkey. It took me 12 days to get there!
