The Prophet of Principled Profit Priceless wisdom from a lifetime of achievement

The conceptualisation of Top500: South Africa’s Best Companies arose as a result of the demand for a publication that ranks business in South Africa on the basis of a broad-based set of performance criteria, rather than purely on quantitative financial data. The challenge has been to profile leading businesses – in terms of global and South African best practice standards – that not only excel in their specific sectors, but which also have a strong set of social, empowerment and development policies in place. Top500 is an annual B2B publication that identifies companies achieving the highest level of performance and success. Extensive research into organisations across 100 industrial sectors reveals who the best-of-the-best are in South African business according to a 13-point best-practice formula. In excess of 3 000 South African top companies are measured against their peers, the publication profiles the leaders in best-practice principles, human resource excellence, fiscal and operations management success, and social investment – finally revealing the top 500 crème-de-la-crème of local business in 100 sectors. www.top500.co.za
